Pluto in Aquarius: The Rise of Individualism

Where's Pluto? Now, it's in Capricorn, giving power to wealth, classism, the corporate world, traditional societal roles, relationships that serve the status quo, and the privileged.

However, it will move to Aquarius, the edgy rebellious sign, soon... Actually, very, very soon. What does that mean? Quite a lot.

First, Pluto influences a whole generation, so it stays in a sign up to 30 years and brings complete cathartic transformations. What was before Pluto, will never be the same or even exist after Pluto. Pluto, often called the planet of sacred destruction, destroys foundations at its core, in the goal to build something more authentic, better, leveled up and more powerful. It's scary at the begining, but oh so beautiful and poetic at the end.

With Pluto entering Aquarius; it will be very difficult to maintain anything that compromises your indiviuality. That corporate job you accepted to gain hierarchical power? It will feel like hell until you quit. That relationship you were pressured into to fit in and costed you a lot of your individuality? It will crumble. That marriage or pregnancy you agreed to, due to family or societal pressure? it will taste like regret everyday. Everything you susbcribed for, that was against your authentic desires, and that compromised your indivduality and independence, will either crumble or feel emotionally taxing until you take the decision to course correct.

It's no surprise that Pluto in Aquarius, will give power to individuality. We are already witnessing a lot of people quitting their corporate jobs, being deinfluenced by celebrities, owning their individulaity, leaving relationships, getting divorced, deciding not to have kids...etc. These are going to increase even more when Pluto settles in Aquarius.

Also, we will witness the minorities and group of people who were once outcasted by upper social hierarchy, rising to power. As long as those people don't subscribe to the current status quo, or values that goes against their true authentic self, and maintained their individuality.

Bottom line: Pluto favors and gives power to what feels authentic. In the sign of Aquarius, you have to be authentic & loyal to your own indivduality and not take any decision that compromises your true identity, indiviuality or independence. Falling into peer or societal pressure will be deemed foolish during this long transit.

I have suddenly come around a conundrum. I have a character named Piper, she has DID, and I was making character's birthdays. I decided "what if her birthday is when she left her house" (aka she got in a fight w her parents on her bday) but then I wanted her to move out at the end of a school year (around june) then I came around the conundrum... is it okay to is a character with dissociative identity disorder a gemini?

price is a classy man. but i also think he isn’t a huge fan of anything strong — he likes how you smell naturally. anything light, airy, a little floral but not like grandma rose perfume floral. price is the type of guy i see having fresh laundry scented candles in his house and a ��fresh and clean” air freshener for his car. this man is tired and approaching middle age and he just wants his shit to smell good. including you. i hc something along the lines of maison margiela replica’s lazy sunday morning edt, glossier’s you edp, dedcool’s fragrance 03 blonde edp. for something more recognizable, gingham and sweet pea from bath & body works.

i feel like he’d also like chanel no. 5 just because of the name. his mum wore it. it’s sentimental for him.

gaz loves when you smell like a cashmere sweater. warm, sweet, but soft and homey. he wants to come home and just sit there and sniff you because you smell like a warm hug after a long day (it makes sense in my head okay). he’s the type to come along to sephora and ulta and hold the bottle while you spray the testers and he’ll tell you if something smells good (everything smells good, he likes seeing you smile & he’s paying anyway). philosophy’s fresh cream edp, ariana grande’s cloud intense edp, byredo’s slow dance edp, and skylar’s fall cashmere edp are all scents i think he’d love. i also feel like ivory cashmere from bath & body works is a given.

johnny. johnny is a man of taste, okay? this man loves a unisex fragrance. (they all do. but like. johnny truly just loves a scent that is just a scent. no feminine or masculine packaging.) literally anything that smells good has his paws all over you. i feel like he’s a woody, earthy scents kind of guy. just smell like a forest and he’s head over heels. like le labo’s santal 33 edp, tom ford’s oud minerale edp, zodica perfumery’s eau de dallas edp, dossier’s ambery saffron and woody oakmoss edp. mahogany teakwood & into the stars from b&bw will also get this man’s heart rate wild.

simon is a gourmand man. change my mind (you can’t). this man will get a whiff and have to stop himself from nibbling on you like a cat. or he doesn’t. you just smell too good, love. i don’t think he has a specific preference in terms of general scent, but anything that smells yummy has him drooling. sweet, warm, similar to gaz but more in the food direction than the cozy warm direction. i think le monde gourmand’s crème vanille edp, kayali’s yum pistachio gelato intense edp, billie eilish’s eilish 1.0 edp, sol de janiero’s brazilian crush cheirosa '71 fragrance mist. sweet whiskey and viva vanilla from b&bw are also delicious to layer with.

Hall of Fame - Allen Lamb

Allen Lamb has been inducted into The Game Crafter Hall of Fame because his game, Spellpath, won the Word-Up Challenge. The designer interview is below:

Tell us about yourself and how long you've been designing games.

My name is Allen Lamb. I'm a software developer from Kennesaw, GA, and I've been designing games in some capacity for most of my life. I started to take the hobby a little more seriously when The Game Crafter site was first launched. My first game on The Game Crafter was a simple trick taking game called Zodica which was published in 2011.

Please tell us about Spellpath

Spellpath is a hidden movement word game that I designed for the Word Up Challenge contest. The game takes place in a cemetery which is a hex grid with one tombstone in each hex. Each tombstone has a letter on it. In the game, one player plays as the ghost and will typically not be visible on the board. The other players are ghost hunters that try to find the ghost. They do this by moving from tombstone to tombstone to form words—Spellpaths. If the ghost hunter Spellpaths have letters in common with the Ghost Spellpath, the ghost will have to communicate this information to them on a spirit board (Ouija Board).

Where did the idea for this game come from?

I lost my father about a week before the Word Up Challenge contest began. That, no doubt, had an enormous influence on the theme of the game. Despite the gloomy setting, I do not intend the game to be dark and depressing. It's more about finding ways to communicate with those that we love. I'm not much of a word gamer, so when I found out that the theme of the contest was to develop a word game, I tried to make the game as strategic as I could… a 'normal' game disguised as a word game.

What makes this game special/unique?

I suppose word games are fairly rare to begin with. But, it seemed to me that all the ones I knew about were abstract games or lightly themed. I wanted Spellpath to have a more immersive feel to it. To achieve that, I aimed to make the word gaming elements in Spellpath feel thematically relevant. You're spelling out words for reasons that make thematic sense in the game. I wanted this to feel like magic spells that produced an effect. The communication between the ghost and the ghost hunters is achieved through a spirit board which adds to the immersion.

There is another aspect to Spellpath that could easily go unnoticed. The board is made of modular tiles with 7 hexes on each tile. Each hex has a tombstone on it with a letter that is used to spell words. A tremendous amount of work went into figuring out how to layout the tiles with the goal of making words as easy to spell as possible. I downloaded a list of the most common words in the English language and wrote some code to analyze it. Without going into all the details, the tiles are designed in an attempt to meet 3 criteria:   A) Letters appear in roughly the same frequency that they appear in the English language. B) Letters appear on the same tile as other letters that they are commonly found next to in words.  E.g. Q is found on the same tile as a U. C) Common letters are evenly distributed across the tiles.

I love stuff like this in games. The players don't have to think about it. You don't have to write a rule about it in the rule book, but it improves the game.

Did you create a design journal for your game? If so, did you publish it somewhere we can link to?

No. I've thought about keeping a design journal, I've even tried to do it a few times, but I could never keep it up. I'm not sure how my game design process compares to others, but for me, the games stay in my head for quite a long time. Sometimes I feel like I've played a game in my head 100 times before I put it on the table in front of someone else (almost always my wife and kids). That process seems incompatible to journaling… or maybe that's just an excuse I use to not do it! 

Did you already have the idea for Spellpath in your head before the Word-Up Challenge?

Not really. I did previously have a vague idea to design “a game played in a cemetery,” but I certainly didn't imagine it as a word game or even a hidden movement game. I think pretty much all of the design came from the thought “word game, huh? I wonder if I could design a word game in a cemetery.” Everything else evolved from that.

What made you decide to enter your game into the contest?

While I haven't entered a game in all of the contests, I have at least considered all of them. For Spellpath, I had something resembling a workable game in my head fairly quickly so it was a simple decision to enter.

Would you have been motivated to work on the game as much as you did without the contest?

I really don't think I would have even tried to design a word game if it weren't for the contest. The contests are absolutely a driving force in my game designs. They provide constraints to work within and a deadline to meet them by. They also provide an opportunity for others to view and provide feedback. And if you are fortunate enough to win one, there are a few extra bonuses.

Did winning this contest inspire you to enter more contests or design more games?

Honestly, probably not. I think I was already maxed out on the number of games I could design and contests that I could enter.

Could you describe any influence The Game Crafter has had on your success as a game designer?

Simply put, I doubt I would be designing games in any real capacity without The Game Crafter. They both provide the means and the motivation to do so.

What’s next for you?

I will continue to design games and enter them into contests when they seem like a good fit. As for Spellpath, I added a couple of features that I didn't have enough time to get into the contest version, but this is probably the end of the line for it. In theory, I would love for the game to get picked up by a publisher and sell millions of copies… who wouldn't? However, I've come to accept that I love game design but hate game marketing and promotion. I'm a fairly severe introvert and the thought of constantly having to introduce the game to new people is… unpleasant. I do the parts I enjoy and not the parts I don't with full knowledge that my games won't have much success in the traditional sense. At best, they are lottery tickets that have a slim possibility of paying out.

Any last words of encouragement or advice to all of the designers reading this?

There is no one way to design a game. What works for one designer may not work for you.

When you get feedback, listen to it, but don't take it at face value. Pay close attention to the problem that they are complaining about. Take any solution that they suggest to fix it with a grain of salt. Often their fix isn't the right choice. They aren't the game designer, you are. Even if they are a game designer in their own right, they aren't the designer for your game.

Don't be discouraged if you find out your 'unique' game mechanic has been used before… it's still a 'rare' game mechanic which is nearly as good.

Have fun…  that's the point isn't it?

I'm a leo girl and it's always said that mostly leo people are people pleaser. Well it means we're not as scary as a Lion we have compassion and we can give to anyone too much.

Look among those zodicas Leo is one of biggest people pleaser. Do you think i believe the zodiac theory that what make me people pleaser it's because i'm a Leo gurl with fire-sign . Well, it's absolutely untrue. I'm a professional people pleaser because my father want me to be that kind of person. My father was passed away 7 years ago. He had been through the horrific time in his life since cancer undermine his body. It was made a powerful man into powerless old man with no hope. I never feel Daddy's compassion or love in my life and so does my younger sister. We grew up fatherless and when he died we doesn't even surprise to our new situation of being raise with single parent. It was already like that since i was born which means 24 years ago and 19 years ago for my little sister. Mom is everything for both of us, as 2 daughters that used to live with vicious father it feels like victory for us or perhaps only for me. Papa was always wanted everything's perfect so in his mind 'Life must be Perfect' from that mindset we know he wasn't a wise man. He's a workaholic with wonderful fundamental which is something i adore and i apply it now as a mediocre office staff. My papa expected his first born was a boy however it was dissapointed news for him to know that it was a girl and it is me. Maybe i already dissapointed him since I was in his wife womb before the new series of dissapoinment he would face.

I was a girl with unattractive appearance . I'm not saying i'm attractive now but at least i made progress and i look better. I look cleaner and finally make up can completely applied on my face. Back then i used make up and it was jut melted, cracked, like the products were refuse to be applied on my bumpy face.

My father told me in a restaurant which mean we were in public spaces he said I look like a monster because i have severe acne. Well my reaction was only about to cry but i held it until we got home. He enrolled me to music courses i was excited at that time, I was thinking i would learn guitar but ended up i learned keyboad. My mom said she registered me to had guitar class but my father changed it on my first day lesson to join keyboard class. Both my mom and I couldn't do anything not made any argument. Luckily my little sister felt the same thing, at least my father was playing fair here. The reason he altered the plan was just because he thinks it's not that classy for a girl play guitar, guitar it's not something grande, everyone can be guitarist just being autodidact. Guitar is an instrument everyone can reach it doesn't need a big-fancy room to place it. That was a very deep thinking papa, well as 13 yo teenager at that time i was only grumpy but now as i grow up i just realized my father unconsiously make his children brainstorming of his mindset. He sent me to kindergarten 1 when i was 3 yo just because he didn't enjoy anymore to walk with me in the morning before he left to work. He forced me to be in science class in high-school although it was out of my capability but i tried so hard to get smart score so i could fit the requirement lucky me I passed it i was part of those cool-smart students, Unfortunately, through 3 years in school my rank was 36/40 students. It was obviously said ' you are not belong here'. I can't tell the details of being raises with absent father. I will make a new post sharing about that topic. Well, I think i'm deserve to grab an Oscar I claim myself confidently i have oscar acting skills due to I used to acting in front my father. Not being my true-self. If i made mistake , sick , misbehave as a normal human being do, not an extraordinary, not having a good look He would scolded me, if i choose something he doesn't keen on or eat something he doesn't like. He also mad at me. Like why would I do thing he doesn't like?. So the way i acted and spoke just only to please him. At the other side to protect myself from his temper. I could say I nailed it sometimes and failed it most of time. I always unexpectedly awful in my father eyes. He said i'm lesser than anyone i'm not good enough and worthless. He always make me unworthy.

You feel deeply guilty when you can't complete or help someone else mission. I used to be a person my father wants me to be = I can be a person society expect me to be. I never knew i'm a people pleaser if my friends don't tell me, i was just ignore what they said because i didn't understand. As long as i still get along with my friends i am okay. There's nothing wrong with me. I feel easy for building my friendship just being like this. I never get myself in trouble moreover enemy.

Start each new generation with a small house/apartment and 1000 simoloeons. If you want to make the challenge harder, you can start each generation on an empty lot with 0 simoleons (rags to riches style!)

Play on any lifespan you wish (short is not recommended).
