Introducing the Official Seireitei Sexyman Tournament

The Women’s Soul Reaper Association is putting on this tournament to finally find out who is the sexiest in the Seireitei

Rules:

Ichigo’s real excited to see Kurumadani. So much so that he calls him “Imoyama” (where does that come from?) on the next page.

It’s a moment of levity, but it’s also a reminder of who Ichigo’s fighting for-- not just his family, or his friends, but even girls from school he’s not particularly close to, and reality TV show hosts, and the nameless grunts of Soul Society.

You know, in BB, Rukia's in Karakura because of arrancar appearing there. But since Karakura is jureichi, it was under 13th divisions care from the start, so there is other shinigami who can recognize kaien when he see him. Did Kurumadani Zennosuke heard anything from his captain? I'm sure that other shinigami didnt heard anything from Ukitake, not yet, but he could talk to his own subordinates, right? Or is that the captain thought that his liutenant can hide from him?

Speaking of minor characters, I really want to see Kaien's reaction to that Don kanonji show where Ichigo jumped in. It can be more powerful weapon than the baby pictures...

Aside from the last couple months, Kaien's been in hiding and travelling with the other Visoreds. There's the very sticky political situation with the Shiba clan and the special order to execute Hollowfied Shinigami to consider, so Ukitake needs to handle this situation delicately for the best outcome.

Ukitake wants to keep Kaien's survival on the downlow as much as possible because right now, revealing that information would result in his second death. Something everyone dearly wishes to prevent.

In light of the same scenario playing out with Aizen as the precursor to his betrayal, how long would it take for people to accuse Kaien of faking his death and being on cohorts with the maniac?

The only people who know he's alive on Soul Society's side are Ukitake, Kyoraku, Kotetsu, Sentaro, Takanashi (5th seat OC) and Kukaku; Ukitake wants to keep it that way, which is why its referred to as 'The other matter' whenever one of those five bring it up in public.

As for Don Kanoji. I don't think Kaien really watched his shows. He's dealing with literal demons, thanks. Or if he did, he did so while drunk with the others to take the piss.

Although, hilariously enough; I had an a draft scene somewhere where Kaien actually happened across him the early morning after getting hammered at Kurosaki clinic while he's walking back to the Visored hideout.

With a killer hangover (His Hollow's complaining didn't help) the Spirit of the conversation when something like this:

Don Kan'oji: Boy! What has become of you?! Have you forsaken your noble ways!? That scar and that tattoo! Surely, such a thing could only come from dalliances with criminals and ne'er do wells!

Kaien, hiding his miserable face under his hoodie: I'm too hungover for this…

Don Kan'oji: My dear student has fallen from the path of righteousness and thrown his lot in with the Yakuza! Forgive your failure of a master for allowing you to stray! I shall endeavour to correct this at once! Come forthwith!

Kaien: Look pal, I haven't the slightest idea who you are but I'm hungover and the rest of the neighbourhood's still asleep. Have some consideration, for cryin' out loud.

Hollow!Kaien: … Can I eat him?

Kaien: Remember last time; we don't need the heartburn.

Don Kan'oji: Wait, what is that... I smell it. I smell that scent -

Kaien, uncomprehendingly: What are you on and why aren't you sharing?

Don Kan'oji: It could only mean, you're in cohorts with a bad spirit! Oh, the travesty - how could you betray your kin?!

Hollow!Kaien: Can we get out of here please? I can feel my non-existence braincells dying listening to this...

Kaien: I kinda wanna see how this ends now.

Favorite minor character?

I already answered this one, but for another answer I’ll say Zennosuke Kurumadani. He’s not necessarily a favorite but I do think he deserves more respect than he gets. Nobody in-universe knows who he is, and I’m sure plenty of people out-of-universe don’t know who he is either. He’s not very strong, but that doesn’t stop him from putting his all into his job. He was so committed to protecting Karakura Town that stood against Aizen for the citizens of the town. He may not have succeeded, but he was willing to risk his life to do his job of protecting people, and I respect that immensely.

I've written about how when Bount devour the Souls of beings with supernatural properties (such as Shinigami, Quincy, etc), they can 'Vampirize' or take on aspects of the techniques/abilities that were tied to those Souls, but what does that translate out to for Jin? How, in Jin's canon for this blog, does this apply to him?

For Jin, there's three notable instances;

— During the later portions of Jin's main verse (we're talking Post CFYOW , like, No Breaths From Hell adjacent times), Jin kills and devours the Soul of Zennosuke Kurumadani, giving him access to some of their Zanpakuto Spirit's (Tsuchinamazu) abilities. Given the fact that Zennosuke was not... a very powerful Shinigami, the abilities Jin gained from their Zanpakuto Spirit are far weaker than anything he already possessed, but the utility of having even low-level earth-manipulating techniques is still useful to have alongside his uber crazy wind shenanigans.

— At some point in the past, long ago, Pre-TBTP, during the last 'Quincy Extermination' carried out by the Shinigami, Jin (who once again found himself allied with a group of Quincy) killed and devoured the Soul of a certain Kuchiki Clan member, and its eventually revealed in the present timeline that this Kuchiki was Sojun, Byakuya's father (this also leads to some juicy heightened stakes and tension between Byakuya and Jin.)

The exact nature of the abilities Jin gained from Sojun's associated Zanpakuto Spirit are vague, but they have something to do with 'blade-petals' similar to Byakuya's Senbonzakura, only far weaker and with a wind element thrown in. Serves as another useful utility and a little boost to Jin's inherent wind related techniques and abilities (could be the source for Jin's Black Winds technique).

— During the same incident that led to the death of Sojun Kuchiki long ago, Jin killed and devoured the Soul of Shinigami Seizen Suzunami, Shinji Hirako's predecessor in the Captaincy of the 5th Division (this also maybe sets a bit of history up between Jin, Shinji, and Aizen as well). The Zanpakuto Spirit that was linked to Seizen's Soul (Shiden) would end up giving Jin access to decently powerful lightning-based abilities and techniques that greatly augment and blend in with those his Doll was already capable of, especially since Seizen was a wielder of Bankai.

However, the main benefit Jin got from devouring Seizen's Soul was the ability to access some lighting-based techniques without having to go through the full summoning process of his Doll, (though the techniques he can utilize with a fully summoned Doll are of course more powerful).

Should be noted too that some of this does vaguely carry over into Jin's various AU's as well, but when all is said and done Jin still mainly relies on his innate abilities and the abilities of his Doll-- everything else are just feathers in his cap so to speak.

When Mizuiro’s improvised bomb doesn’t work, Keigo sets up to charge Aizen with his stolen zanpakuto, only to for its owner to also get involved in the fight. Credit to Kurumadani though, he correctly assess that Aizen is way out of his league and uses his (pretty neat!) shikai to create a getaway route.
