Chapter 2 of The Girl She Was is out.
Snippet:
The nameless woman lying behind him shifted slightly on her side, her snores quieting. He couldn’t recall the sound of her voice, except the one time she yelled out his name. He remembered telling her to shut the fuck up—he wasn’t interested in talking, wasn’t interested in hearing her speak. If she couldn’t comply with this simple request, then she could get the fuck out.
Surprisingly enough, she shut up and stayed. She hadn’t seemed to mind his vulgar mouth. She was just another nameless chick slumming it with a burnout loser, getting back at Daddy for whatever reason. That was what he’d figured anyway, and even if it wasn’t the case, he didn’t care. All he had wanted was an easy lay.

The Ponderings of a Man In Love
I've had this FanLore for Zen strewing in my brain for a little over a year and finally decided to write it out into a one shot!
Enjoy!
What does it mean to experience first love?
Zen wondered as he watched you doze off beside him to the sound of a movie you both had forgotten about halfway through. He smiled to himself softly, gently brushing away a strand of hair that had fallen over your face, planting a tender kiss on the top of your head. The comforting gesture caused you to snuggle further into his side, cozy and loved. Treasured and wanted.
Zen often thought about the meaning of first love when he was with you. He always felt a pang of guilt over dating other girls before you, even if you weren't bothered by it. He knew you were his yesterday, today, and tomorrow--his dusk and dawn. His moon and stars--leaving him with the fact that you weren't his first, which felt wrong in every way imaginable. So there he sat wondering, and really pondering, what it meant to experience first love. Had he experienced it before? If so, that idea devastated him, leaving his heart aching, poking, splintering, and desperately wanting your comforting. Hoping all his wondering meant nothing.
He snuggled in close, soaking in your warmth, soothing his self-inflicted wounds, nuzzling your hair, blinking back the sting of tears.
Slowly he doze off to the sound of your steady breathing, calming his anxiety. Slowly learning to bask in the simple pleasures of a quiet evening.
His breathing steadied, finding rhythm with your own, and in complete unison, your chests rose and fell.
He found his peace in his small basement apartment.
But absolutely and entirely, he found his peace here with you.
And in his slumber, there came a dream. Or, more accurately, a nearly forgotten memory.
Zen was younger here, much younger than you knew him now. His hair barely reached past his shoulders, fashioned into something of a mullet. His leather jacket just a size too big, but in a year's time, it would fit him perfectly. And he stood in a place filled with familiarity. His secret mountain hideout. The view was the same as it had always been, and somehow, that comforted the young boy, here now, and the man he would come to be.
The cold evening air nipped at his cheeks and nose, a gentle breeze passing through his hair with the faint smell of cigarette smoke. Following the scent with his eyes and nose, he found a scene this young boy very well knew but was far from the scene his adult counterpart adored. There stood a girl who simply wasn't you.
Ji-an, a younger, much more boyish Hyun, recognized with an air of giddiness coating his thoughts, and in like manner, she was viewed with rose-tinted glasses.
He admired her long black hair as it gently swayed in the passing breeze, her sharp and unusually dark eyes staring down at the view he found so much comfort in, reflecting nothing of the setting sun or the city lights flickering on one at a time. And her lips turned in a slight frown with a lit cigarette in hand. Ji-an was a girl made entirely of mysterious beauty, and for a long time, Hyun might've considered her the most beautiful girl he'd ever met. She was in the same gang as Zen, that's how they had met. She was older than him, but only slightly, maybe sixteen or seventeen. She was a force to be reconned with, a calm before a storm. Freedom and rebellion. Anger and desperation. Loneliness and devastation. But other than that, she was a total mystery. Hyun never knew more about her than she let him see, and maybe that was part of why he clung to her so helplessly. Or maybe it was because he envied her and how free she seemed to be. Maybe he wanted to live reckless abandoned where he was allowed to be who he wanted to be, the way Ji-an seemed to. Or maybe it was because bad habits always seemed more attractive than good ones at the start.
Ji-an sucked on her cigarette, holding the smoke in her throat until it burned.
“You know,” she began as she turned to look at Hyun, “I think if we had met before everything hit the fan, I would’ve fallen in love with you for real.”
Hyun watched and admired the rugged elegance she exuded. Marvalling, despite how her words cut him deeply. His heart secretly wondering--when will anyone ever truly love me?
“For one thing, you’re a real looker,” she leaned in and kissed Hyun's lips softly, leaving the faintest taste of cigarette smoke and strawberry lip balm on the tip of his tongue.
Is that all I'll ever be? A pretty face barely worth loving? Another secret wonder he wouldn't discover until much later.
“You’re not so bad of a guy either,” she reached out, with her free hand and gently played with the fringe that hung over his forehead. “If I wasn’t so damaged, I’d probably be able to appreciate that heart of yours,” she poked his chest playfully and with a tone of self-mockery, sucking another puff of cigarette tar into her lungs.
“But instead, here I am, giving you cigarettes, beer, and bad memories,” she scoffed.
Hyun took a step closer to Ji-an, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with her. He peered into her face, hoping to read the meaning in her words by seeing her expression more clearly, but there was nothing he could see. Her eyes continued to stare dispassionately at the scenic view, and not for a moment did she meet his searching gaze, nor did she acknowledge his presence at her side. Instead, her brow furrowed, and irritation fizzled in her vacant eyes.
"We shouldn't have met," she said, tossing her cigarette onto the ground and stomping it out under her boots.
Hyun felt his heart drop.
Ji-an turned on her heels and walked towards her motorcycle.
"W.. wait! Ji-an, where are you going?" He called.
There was no answer except the loud roar of a motorcycle engine starting.
"Ji-an!"
She paused, looking towards Hyun, with more emotion in her eyes than Hyun had ever seen before, "Get out of here. Become something."
And that was it.
She rode off, the rumbling of her motorcycle fading the farther she got. And Hyun could only watch, confused, lost, and entirely too alone for a boy his age.
Zen jolted awake, beads of cold sweat running down his back and his heart dropping into his stomach, leaving his chest feeling hollow and unbearably lonely until he heard you.
"Hyun?" you said, coming back into the living room with a glass of water, "Are you okay?"
He looked at you, and the frenzy in his eyes became calm. A deep breath entered his lungs, and it was exhaled smoothly.
And that's when his wondering all made sense.
Zen realized it then as his hysteria calmed at the mere sight of you. He knew then that perhaps in all possibility, before you came and before he had forgotten what life was like in your absence, he would've considered Ji-an his first love experience. And in some way, maybe she was. Maybe she was his first love, but that thought didn't seem to bother him so much anymore. Because maybe love was more about changing than firsts and lasts.
(Although, admittedly, he was perfectly enchanted by the idea that you would be his last. You would hold all his ending chapters, and perhaps, that was far more important than keeping all his opening phrases.)
Ji-an encouraged his flaws but neglected his strengths. He knew now that they were bad for each other, beasts ravenously hungry for love and acceptance. In love with their shared self-pity. Wanting each other because of the addictive nature of cigarettes, loving the nicotine clinging to their clothes and mingling in their mouths. Loving the faint taste of strawberries after every kiss that made the bitter taste of tobacco seem pleasant and sweet. But even still, she inspired his drive for freedom.
And you? You came and captivated him.
You nurtured his strengths and loved his flaws, and for that, he loved you, but as his feelings began to grow, he wanted to be better for you. He wanted to change. So maybe, just maybe, it was for the best that you came at this moment in his life. You came at the point in his life when he still had room to grow but was mature enough to treasure you wholeheartedly. Perhaps now was the best time to love you--not to say it was the only time he could love you, nor was it the perfect time, for he knew that if he had met you ten years ago or ten years from now, he'd be ready to love you precisely and honestly--so now as Zen looks at you, finally finding his moment of lost peace, he realizes that all this wondering about "first love" was for not because all that matters is that he loves you.
Zen nods, gently grabbing at your waist and pulling you in. He rests his forehead against your torso, hugging your waist tightly.
"Never better, honey~"

📚 ⇢ what's the last thing you wrote down in your notes app?
🔪 ⇢ what's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?
☁️ ⇢ what made you choose your username? (I love username stories)
📚 ⇢ what's the last thing you wrote down in your notes app?
I named Alexius' parents for the recent chapter, though both of their names didn't make it in. I've been going with Greek names as a theme for Alexius' family. So his mother is named Eleni meaning ball of light which is appropriate since she is Helion's cousin. And his father's name is Filippos (or Fili for short) which means friend of horses. Which I thought was too perfect given his job as a steward to the Pegasus horses haha.
🔪 ⇢ what's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?
I mean, I could tell you some of the sex stuff I've googled just to make sure I'm getting some things accurately lol. But in general, I do a lot of googling. Today I googled medieval helms. I've researched corpse flowers. I've researched farriers. I went into a deep dive on the history of prosthetic eyes. In general if I have a question, I'm looking it up.
☁️ ⇢ what made you choose your username? (I love username stories)
I created my username in 2006 when I joined fanfiction.net to start writing fanfiction for Jackie/Hyde of That 70s Show. You see, back then, a lot of ships didn't have the name smooshing that you see today. So shippers for Jackie/Hyde were called Zennies, which is based on Season 2 interaction where Hyde teachers Jackie to be Zen. It's a classic early episode in their relationship. So, when I wanted to create my Penname on the website, I wanted it to be clear I was a Zennie and I wanted it to sound kind of pretty. So I went with Zenkindoflove. I've never changed it because I really feel like it is the origin story of my time in fandom and writing fanfic. So I've always kept it consistent across the many, many fandoms I've joined since. I'll probably never change it.

All the things Uzui Tengen has done:
1. Push over my wife (Suri)
2. Not help her up even though he was right next to her
3. He punched my son (Ino)
4. He punched my son's brother (Zenny)
5. Made a joke about firing my other son (Tomi) and made fun of him for being antisocial (the image below)
6. Tried to take Aoi and one of the caterpillars by force
7. He's called the kamaboko squad trash (Tanji, Zenny, and Ino)
8. He even talked down on them
9. He said Tomi was gloomy and that he looked
like he was at a funeral
10. Called my wife weird
Basically, he deserves to be executed. /Hj
I'm gonna answer this in bullet form and with full sentences because if there is one thing I am, it's being a good lawyer for Tengen and i will nOT TOLERATE THIS SLANDER
He didn't push her over, everyone was shocked at what was transpiring and leaned for a better look. Mitsuri just happened to be a bit clumsy and fall.
The same thing can be said for Rengoku, the kindest one out of them all and yet he too let her stay on the ground.
Deserved, he spoke ill about his wives survival status.
Also deserved, he wasn't taking the mission seriously and was being a bit of a creep by being too obsessed with the fact that Tengen has 3 wives.
If that is from fanfiction then that is automatically void.
He did so for the sake of the mission and she was wearing her uniform so of course he would take her as someone who could help him out.
Tengen is a man of flamboyant energy and thinks well of himself (but knows his limits). Compared to him, yes the gang is trash in terms of looks and skill but that is quickly revoked when the district fight happens.
They are his subordinates, that is expected.
Sanemi and obanai think lowly of Tomioka and yet you are able to love them. If we compare their thoughts on Tomioka to that of Tengen, it is safe to say that Tengen is more on the polite side of things.
Sanemi thinks she is weird (and annoying) too. Everyone is weird to one another.
Basically, he doesn't deserve such a cruel fate.

The Origins of Kavrillia - Part Two
In Part One I took a trip down memory lane at the early influences and inspirations for Kavrillia. Now we pick up when my universe broke off in its own direction!
Late 1995
My War of the Worlds fanfic saga had run its course, and I needed a new muse.
I was zoning out in the shower one evening when out of nowhere a scene flashed into my head. Now, I'm not one of those writers who thinks I'm somehow channeling beings from a different plane of the multiverse or anything, but the scene did just pop into my brain all at once, like a five-second clip from a movie. I had impressions of the characters as if they existed and I was getting to know them instead of creating them on the spot. I've never had something quite like that happen again. Make of that what you will. I sure can't explain it.
In the scene that came to me, a young empress was riding in a procession, waving to the crowd gathered along the street. I felt she was kindhearted but very lonely. An intimidating, stone-faced bodyguard stayed close beside her, wearing the cliché dark suit and sunglasses. I got the feeling he had secrets, but she trusted him completely. Why? Should she? And why was she so lonely? Meanwhile, a teenage boy dressed in black was chasing a terrified homeless girl through the crowd. Who were they? Why did he want to catch her? What would he do when/if he did? I got the sense it wasn't because of something the girl did, but because of what family she came from.
I didn't have answers to those questions, but I was excited to figure them out. As soon as I got out of the shower, I decided to jot down some notes and see what I came up with.
Along with those notes were these sketches: the very first pictures I drew of Vazali, Delzeena, Bronzar, Zenni, Xorax, and Zola.
They were the only characters who existed in the beginning, although I had vague ideas about Xorax's henchmen, who eventually became Elzar and Ryshan.
At first I imagined Zola as Xorax's girlfriend, but quickly decided a sibling or cousin relationship was better. I had just seen West Side Story (1961) for the first time and definitely took inspiration from the Sharks.
Above: The origin of Xorax's aesthetic. Yes, really.
You'll also see that Xorax's medallion was there from the very beginning, and I knew it was tied to his family legacy, just not exactly how yet.
Zenni came from trying to figure out what Bronzar's life was like when he wasn't on duty, and somehow "single dad" seemed to fit.
As I had been playing in the sandbox of my War of the Worlds-spinoff fanfiction for a couple years, I assumed this story would take place there, too. I made the empress the daughter of Xeres the Great to anchor it somewhere in my headcanons for that universe's history, and began to write.
1996
Above left: Vazali and Bronzar are peeved. Above right: I'm pretty sure that's the first picture of Xeebec and Kazaneta, or at least the first colored one.
Once the ball was rolling, the story kept unfolding, the characters found their voices, and the answers to those initial questions spawned many more. As the world expanded and grew more detailed, I realized that, aside from a handful of names, it was completely original. Once I changed those names, no one familiar with either the Tripods books or War of the Worlds would recognize anything. Somehow I had weaned myself off fanfic and ended up with my own universe.
Late 1997-1998
Previously, my art had been done in a combination of markers and colored pencils. In late '97 I started using all colored pencils instead. I also began dabbling with computer paint programs.
Early 1999
This was a transition period when the look of my characters changed significantly. I wanted to make them more human, so I drew them with two legs instead of three, removed the third eye and skin markings from males, added a thumb, made their antennae much thinner, and tried to do more realistic eyes. I also discovered how awesome Prismacolor pencils were.
2000
I changed the Kavrillian facial structure so they now have a bridge to their nose/snout. That went a long way to making them look more like they could exist in three-dimensional space. I still wasn't sure how realistic to make their eyes.
2002
Not too many changes since 2000. Their antennae were still very thin. The nose bridge shortened somewhat. The eyes are still horizontal ovals, but I didn't usually try to give them irises.
(Continued in Part 3)

Thank you @shardminds (also your username is metal af).
🍓 How did you get into writing fanfiction?
I read wrestling fanfic when I was 12 (for Jeff Hardy/Trish Stratus lol) and then when I binge watched That 70s Show at 16 in 2005 before season 8 started, I got super into Jackie/Hyde and was like hey I wonder if there is fanfic for them and remembered FF.net. They were my first ship I felt compelled enough to want to start writing my own fics too. That was the first fandom I was more I'd a participant in and I've been forever changed since.
🍇 How many fandoms have you written in?
5 (T7S, Twilight, The Big Bang Theory, Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire, and now ACOTAR. I mayyyy have written one or two real person fics back in the day on livejournal too lmao).
🍈 How many years have you been writing fanfiction?
Since 2005 so almost 20 lmao. Which is wild AF.
🍅 Do you read or write more fanfiction?
Depends. Overall I've read more of course but when I'm deep into writing multichapter fics like I am now and with my busy life schedule I don't have a lot of time to sit down and peruse. I have a lot of Elucien fics that I've put on my TBR which I have felt bad doing. But Summer Heat will be over soon and I'll take a month off between it and the sequel and will get more reading done.
🍌 What is one way you've improved as a writer?
Oh certainly my ability to finish a long fic. In my younger days I abandoned way more than I finished. It's certainly a skill you must learn to maintain the stamina, interest, and motivation. My goal for this fandom is to not start any multichapter fics I can't finish.
🍑 Do you have any bad habits as a writer?
As I learned in the last two weeks, my posture lmao. Which I always knew was bad but I reaped the terrible consequences of it when pulling a muscles in my back/neck. It doesn't help that I have a very standard office job too so my whole life is just screens and having to sit.
🍉 What's your favorite type of comment to receive on your work?
Omg any comments really but especially ones that are very thoughtful and tell me what they liked and what thoughts it inspired in them. I also love when people point out specific quotes of text that they particularly liked.
🍋 What is something you've been too nervous or intimidated to write but would love to write one day?
Outside of an original novel? Lol, in fanfic there isn't much that makes me nervous these days especially in terms of topics or tropes. But I will be branching out soon and writing more Eris x OC (Alexius) solo fics and I am nervous that it's just not really something people want to read on their own. I have observed that Eris x male OC is very uncommon. Most OC fics the OC is a woman and most Eris is gay/bi fics he is paired with Azriel and very occasionally another canonical character. I've gotten some of my Elucien audience invested in them in Summer Heat but branching out on their own is going to be a grand experiment.
🍇 What made you choose your username?
This is the same username I made on FF.net when I started writing T7S fic in 2005. Jackie and Hyde shippers were called Zennies because of an early storyline of them in Season 2 where Hyde teaches Jackie to be zen (cool). So I wanted to play on that and came up with zenkindoflove and have never changed as it's become sort of a part of my fandom identity having it for so long.
No pressure tags: @crazy-ache , @lucienarcheron , @animezinglife , @clockwork-ashes . And anyone else who wants to do this! Was very fun!
Answer the questions and tag five fanfiction authors you know!
Thank you @metalbvcky. NPT for @mrs-illyrian-baby @doasyoudesireandlive @km-ffluv @labella420
🍓 How did you get into writing fanfiction?
As a teen I was a voracious reader and tried to write my own stuff based on other books I'd read. I also loved ST:TNG and wanted dearly to be in an episode and had lots of the books. I wrote my own ST stories with OC's (gratuitous self inserts), but they never went anywhere. In my late teens I read some Xena fanfic on the internet. But that was it for a great number of years.
At the beginning of 2021 I sat and watched the entirety of the MCU films in chronological order (I'd seen most of them before and was mainly a Thor gal.) I fell down the Stucky rabbithole. Deep. I decided to look up fanfic. AO3 was now a thing! I wrote (a very poor) Stucky fic and here we are, almost 3 years later
🍇How many fandoms have you written in?
As my ST stuff never made it further than my parent's old PC in the days of dial-up, I won't count it.
I've written for MCU, various Chris Evans and Seb Stan Characters and one fic for RWRB. I've been toying with writing a one-off Criminal Minds fic as a gift for a friend.
🍈How many years have you been writing fanfiction?
Three in July since I first published anything on AO3.
🍎Do you read or write more fanfiction?
I try to balance it out. If I have a period of hyperfocus writing I try to then go through a period of reading. I read on both Tumblr and AO3, so try to keep that even as well.
🍌What is one way you've improved as a writer?
Getting betas to pick me up on tense changes, overuse of words and rogue commas. Reading more. Practising. Writing outlines for longer stories so I don't go off-piste.
🍑Do you have any bad habits as a writer?
Getting bored half-way through a long fic, especially if the first few parts haven't had a lot of interaction. Which is why I try to write the whole thing before I start posting.
🍍 What's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?
Engineering courses at MIT and, for a separate fic, Violet wands, including the ways to use them and the differnt types of accessories you can use with them. I even watched a Youtube video.
🍉What's your favourite type of comment to receive on your work?
Any comment! Anything that gives me the validation I need!
🍐What's the most fringe trope/topic you write about?
I wrote a transformation into Tsum-tsum fic that was both cracky and smutty. That's pretty niche.
🥭What is the hardest type of story for you to write?
Action scenes. I loathe them. I'm constantly wondering if they are long enough, and make sense.
🍏What is the easiest type?
Short things that are either PWP or fluffy slices of life.
🍑Where do you do your writing? What platform? When?
Mainly on my elderly laptop on G-Docs, and in every moment I can - normally afterwork before dinner and on Mondays when I don't have work.
🍋What is something you've been too nervous/intimidated to write, but would love to write one day?
There are a few characters and ships I haven't written that I'd like to. And I suppose I'd like to write a proper long, over 100k fic at some point.
🍇 what made you choose your username?
When I made my AO3 account I felt as though that at 40, and only really starting in Fandom in this way, I was late to the party, so that is who I became.

~Sweet life of mine~
Word count: 910
Gender Neutral.
Summary: What average day to day life looks like between you and Zen. It's sweet and supportive.
Zen is an early riser, he wakes up and gets dressed to go run a few miles before too many people are out. Once he gets home, he kisses your forehead causing you to stir. You wake up and smile at him softly before reaching up and hugging him.
This is how your mornings with Zen usually play out, almost like clockwork. He comes home from his run, you hug him even though he's sweaty, and then you both hop into the shower. There's no hanky panky during this shower, just two people in love trying to get clean. Although- what there is, is a personal concert once he started ri practice one of his songs. You'd smile at him before jumping in with hums, oohs, and ahs. After your shower you both get out and get dressed before brushing your teeth together. This was cute as you both would take turns lightly bumping hips into each other as you brushed your teeth for the day.
After all the preening, you start to make some breakfast something light usually works since Zen doesn't like to feel heavy. So you make him a single crepe packed with fresh fruit and a small mound of whipped cream. You plate everything up and ready ri eat so that he can at least have breakfast with you before he goes out on his hectic schedule.
Zen has a bit of a routine of his own while you make breakfast. He gives himself a pep talk in the mirror as he dies his skincare routine. And he knows he's taken a long time when you sneak in behind him and give him a hug. He can't help but smile at how adorable you are. He turns around and scoops you into his arms like the knight in shining armor that he is. Zen brings you to your chair in the kitchen before sitting down to enjoy breakfast with you.
Once meal time is over Zen takes a bit of extra time to snuggle you and shower you with love and affection as you also shower him with positive affirmations to get him through the day. He kisses you sweetly before leaving for work. Once he's gone you don't really have much to do. You clean up the dishes from this morning and do a bit of what makes you happy- ..before the time of missing Zen comes.
You usually visit him at work a few times a week for extra support, and bring lunch. You know him well enough to know that he will just work himself to death without having a break. You don't do this all the time but you decided to bake some cookies for his coworkers today. Partly out of boredom at home but also to show them support as well, what's a cast if they don't all work well together.
You make up a couple of healthy bento boxes for you both, before packing up all the cookies you've freshly baked. You asked Jumin for a ride since Zen wouldn't like it if you were on public transportation without him protecting you. Once you make it to the theater, you sneak in since you didn't tell him you were coming. Once he notices you, you smile and wave at him. He, in turn brings his acting to the max trying to show you his best performance.
After the scene he comes to you and hugs you close, he always shows you off to his other cast members and you surprise them with your fresh cookies. Zen does get a bit jealous when they all doted on you but that just game him more bragging rights to the best partner. "That's right! This lovely human is all mine," it causes you to blush and giggle a bit. "Well mister, you need to take a break.. I bet you haven't eaten yet." You hit it right on the nose, he hasn't and he apologizes. "If you're really sorry come have lunch with me Zenny♡~" He melts completely, not being able to say no to you.
You both go into his dressing room and enjoy the lunch that you had made just for him. After lunch you decide to stay and continue giving Zen your support while he continues to do what he loves. After this long day he wants to- no.. loves to treat and spoil you. He escorts you home and starts to cook a healthy but delicious cheat meal.
After you have your amazing dinner with your loving man, he relaxes with you on the couch to watch a movie or two. Once the movie marathon is over he excuses himself to run a nice hot bubble bath. Zen the knight comes to scoop up his beautiful partner, bringing you to the bath before helping you undress and slipping in with you. He washes your hair and serenades you with his beautiful voice as you both relax in the soft ambiance he has prepared for you. After your bath together, he wraps you up in a fluffy towel and hugs you until you both make it to the bedroom where you get dressed for bed.
This man, this lovely man holds you in his arms and tells you all the reasons why he loves you and is thankful that you came into his life. He tells you the Cinderella story before sleeping with you in his embrace. "I love you.~"

2 and 88 for Nero/Kyrie please!
Absolutely! Thank you for the request :)
#2 - HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN STANDING THERE?
Kyrie was used to spending time alone by now. It wasn’t in a negative way, as it felt like a lifetime since she’d gotten reasonable time to herself. But her foster kids were old enough to go out on their own. Nero had steady work (which, considering his line of work, was both a good and bad thing). Even so, these moments were fleeting, and she enjoyed some time to think.
Or, in today’s case, time to hum to the radio while washing the dishes. Sometimes, if she was feeling particularly daring, she would even dance to the music. And that would always include a small chuckle at how silly it had been when the church had banned such “provocative movement”.
She still remembered the first dance she’d ever had with Nero. It had been at her friend, Maria’s wedding six months after the Savior’s defeat. The older woman - 22 at the time - was what the church elders called a “wanton harlot”. A troublemaker, so to speak. Maria had never particularly cared about the title, and Kyrie had always secretly admired her friend’s confidence in everything she did. Even Credo, who had initially spoken of his worry for the woman’s soul, had come to accept her. And Maria had mourned his death as much as his family, which led Kyrie to wonder if the two had been closer than she initially thought. But she never asked, and Maria never told. Then the wedding happened, and everyone started to move on.
Kyrie had been bold that night. Why was anyone’s guess. She assumed Maria’s encouragement had something to do with it, but it didn’t matter. By the end of the night, she found herself inviting Nero to an empty dance floor in front of hundreds of unknown guests. And oh how his cheeks flushed at the prospect? His reaction - a mixture of stunned, terrified, and oddly honored - had soothed her own racing heartbeat. He’d been so shy then despite his outward attitude. So nervous to accept such a thing.
But Nero was never one to turn down something like that. Especially not if she asked. And the smile he’d given her as he took her hand... the way his eyes and skin shimmered in the golden light of the lanterns... the beat of the song as the swayed from side to side...
“Happy thoughts, I hope?”
Kyrie gasped in shock, dropping her plate. Soapy water flew everywhere as she leaped away. Nero caught her, his expression caught somewhere between a desire to laugh at the commotion and concern for her safety. Kyrie’s cheeks flushed in an instant. “How long have you been standing there?” She said.
“A few minutes,” Nero shrugged as he helped her to her feet. “Been a while since I’ve heard that song.” He rubbed the back of his neck as he pointed to the radio. That was when Kyrie realized that it had, in fact, changed to the same one from that night... the same piece from her memories.
She laughed softly, shaking her head. “Explains why my thoughts drifted to that of all things.”
Nero hummed thoughtfully as he gently slid his fingers along her arms. He pushed them up, resting both on his shoulders before he placed his own hands at her waist. “One of my favorite memories,” He whispered as he pressed his forehead to hers.
Kyrie kissed him, dishes temporarily forgotten.
#88 - AFTER EVERYTHING, I’D STILL CHOOSE YOU.
Nero was having a terrible day.
It was bad enough that demons had been swarming him on what should have been a simple, routine job. It also wasn’t enough that the creatures were a mixture of beefy behemoths and obnoxiously elusive Baphomets. Even worse, his only back up was stuck fighting some massive rock, demon cyclops worm, thing (there was no name for that freak of nature).
But the worst part wasn’t the demons or the battles or the blood that he was coated in.
No, it was the fact that he had been dragged away from date night - again - for the fourth time that month.
She had to be furious with him by now. Or sick of him, at the very least. How many nights had she had to sleep alone because some demon asshole was threatening Fortuna or Redgrave or some other place that Dante and Vergil couldn’t get to? How many days had she been left alone at the dinner table with days worth of cooking left to cool because he wasn’t there to appreciate it with her?
How much longer did he have before Kyrie gave up on him?
Would he even blame her?
No. He thought miserably as he sliced through another Baphomet. No, I wouldn’t.
He almost missed the squeal of tires as the van whipped around the corner. Nero leaped backward far too late to make a difference, but Nico had dodged him anyway, ramming the van straight into a crowd of Baphomets. They shattered against the wall, somehow stopping the van in all the chaos. If Nero hadn’t worked with Nico for so long, he wouldn’t have believed it. “What the hell are you doing?” Nero said as he shot a weakened Behemoth nearby.
“V-man and yer Uncle are on their way,” Nico said, breathless as she tossed him a phone. “Kyrie sent ya a message, and ya probably want to read it now instead of later.”
Nero grimaced. There it was. The moment he’d been dreading for weeks. The inevitable goodbye message. A part of him was glad that she hadn’t waited for him to come home. Maybe it was better this way. He’d be a mess for a week... maybe longer... probably closer to...
Hey Nero :)
He paused, confused. Why would she send a smile at a time like this? Why?
Nico snorted. “Just read it.”
Nero huffed and walked away. He heard Dante shout a greeting in the distance, but ignored it as Nico (thankfully) intervened. His eyes scanned the rest of the message as he tried to ignore the painful thud of his heart against his ribcage.
I’m sorry tonight didn’t work out.
“Sorry?” Nero echoed. “Why are you sorry?”
But I wanted you to know that everything is okay.
Nero blinked, rereading the line twice before he was able to move on. Okay, she had typed. Everything...
Why had he doubted her? Now he felt like a fool.
And I don’t want you to worry. The kids are asleep. Dinner is waiting. I even made something extra special for when you come home. So be safe, my love. And remember, after everything, I’d still choose you.
Nero sniffed before rubbing his face with his sleeve. Odd. He hadn’t realized he was sweating so much.
“Go home.”
Nero jumped, and it was Vergil that caught the phone before it hit the ground. “We can handle this,” his father said as he tossed the phone back. In another second, a portal snapped open and Vergil teleported to Dante’s side. “Thanks, old man,” Nero said. He swore he saw Vergil smile in the distance but didn’t bother sticking around to check.
He stepped through the portal only to get tackled by Kyrie as soon as it closed. “Welcome home,” She whispered.
“Kyrie,” He whispered as he kissed her cheek. “Thank you.”

Buy Me A Ko-Fi Have a nice reading!
Jumin stared blankly at the documents in front of him, turning the pen in his fingers. He could not concentrate. In the eyes of his imagination, he still had a picture of what a wonderful morning he spent with Y/N.
He made pancakes for her and made her a cup of coffee. There was something extremely pleasant about preparing breakfast for someone else. The more so when this person appreciated the efforts. And she did.
She ate the pancakes with a big smile on her face, and then she began to worry that he would be late for work because of her. How cute. "Mr. Han." Oh, and how sweet she looked in the pajamas he ordered for her - it was modest and girlish. He wanted to see her in something more defiant, but it was definitely too early for such steps on his part. His boldness would scare her away. "Mr. Han." Or maybe he was wrong? In the end, she put on a silk dress with her back exposed yesterday. "Mr Han!" Jaehee suddenly and violently put some papers on his desk. His fingers tightened and the pen jumped out of his hand, then flew across the entire width of the office.
He looked up at Jaehee blankly, "Yes?" She gave him a strange look, "Your schedule, sir." "Ah yes, what do we have here today?" He began to glance over the list of meetings, he saw the letters, but he did not really read them, "Nothing particularly important, I'm guessing." Jaehee sighed, apparently disagreeing with him, "Mr. Han, can I ask you something?"
Jumin straightened in his chair and looked at her in anticipation. He nodded. "Are you sure it's a good idea for Y/N to stay with you?" Jumin frowned, "What do you expect me to do, Assistant Kang? That I will throw her out on the street? Y/N expressed her obvious anxiousness regarding her returning to her apartment. "
"She could... Maybe she should stay with someone else during this time?"
"With whom? With Zen or Seven? Then it would not be a problem for you?"
"I think she should rather move to me, it would be more appropriate. Sir, I'm sure you understand what I mean."
Jumin felt like a rage growing in him. He breathed in and massaged his temple, "You really think so low of me, Assistant Kang?" "No, but the media-"
"Yes, I know, the gossips. Gossips have always been spread and will always be. I don't care much about it. "
"It can very badly affect your image and-"
"I don't care!"
Assistant Kang jumped in place, her eyes wide open. Jumin looked at her frozen for a moment. It was the first time he raised his voice at her. He should not have done it. He never wanted to be such a boss. He took a deep breath, "My apology, Assistant Kang, I should not have raised my voice. It was very unprofessional." Jeahee breathed a sigh, but there was an expression of worry on her face, "Mr. Han, are you sure you're all right?" "Yes, I’m all right," He declared though he did not feel right. He was furious. Recently, he was furious all the time. At Yuwoon, for the fact that he simply existed and dared to ever touch Y/N. At Zen, for his silly insinuations. And now at Jaehee, for her wanting to separate him from Y/N. "Cancel my evening meetings, I promised Y/N that I would go with her for her things to that damn apartment."
Your POV
Jumin's apartment was wonderful and you could go out from it to the gardens on the top floor, but in spite of that you finally got bored. And that was dangerous now, because when you were not busy with anything, unwanted memories were returning to your head.
You wanted to get out of the apartment to go around the building. Maybe you would go shopping, visit a cafe and do some research before returning to your studies. Whatever so that you do not had to think about what happened. But when you opened the door, the security guard blocked your path, "I'm sorry, miss, but Mr. Han clearly told me that you can't leave this apartment."
You looked at him in shock, "What?"
The bodyguard, Yoon, the one who carried you on his hands two days ago, cleared his throat, "I can’t let you out, miss." "It must be a misunderstanding..." "I'm sorry, miss," He really looked like he was sorry. Suddenly, however, he put his hand to the device he had on his ear, "Yes, sir. Yes, immediately. Ms. Y/N, I must escort you to the car, Mr. Han is waiting for you there." "Oh, so now I can suddenly leave?" You snorted. "Only at Mr. Han's request and in my company." You let the bodyguard lead you to the car, though you did not like what was happening. When you got into the back of the limousine, Jumin greeted you with a smile, "How was your day, Y/N?" You looked at him angrily, "You locked me in your apartment?"
The expression on his face hardened. The coldness of his eyes scared you a bit, "We'll talk about it later. Now you should try to calm down before we go to your apartment." You only nodded and you said nothing more. You've spent the course to your apartment in complete silence. When you got there, Jumin looked around unpleased.
"This neighborhood does not look safe, you should move out much earlier."
"The apartment we rent with Yuwoon is cheap, so..."
"It's good that you do not have to stay here anymore." You hoped that you would not find anyone at home. You had your keys, so you could get inside easily. However, it turned out that the door was open. Security guards were waiting on the stairs, as Jumin requested, telling them that he'd manage the situation alone. You caught your breath before pushing the door and went inside. "Who's there?" Yuwoon walked out of the room into the corridor, and when he saw you, he immediately rushed toward you, "Y/N!" You backed away, and Yuwoon stopped abruptly, turned pale and looked over you. You felt that Jumin stands right behind you and keeps his hand on your shoulder. You tried to get a cold expression on your face, "We're just here for my stuff." "Honey, who is this?" You heard the woman's voice that you already knew and dinner went up to your throat. A blonde appeared from the room - yes, the one Yuwoon had fucked before your eyes. "Oh my God!" She shouted suddenly. "It's Jumin Han! You didn’t say that that bitch of yours knows Jumin Han!" While you could not get the word out, Jumin tightened his fingers on your shoulder harder and said coldly, "I strongly advise you not to say about Y/N in this way." You did not know what facial expression Jumin now owned, but the blonde had to be scared because she took a step back.
"Shut up!" Yuwoon growled at her. "Go to the goddamn bedroom where you belong!" Did he really just say that? You were dizzy. You did not know this side of him. You did not know him at all! You felt that the world is spinning and you're going to collapse, but strong arms caught you before it happened. "Y/N...?" You heard Jumin's worried voice, and then the steps - Yuwoon's probably, "Don't you dare come near her." Now Jumin was furious. "Mr. Han!" It must have been one of the security guards who were alarmed by the screams. "Don't interfere. I'll deal with this. Y/N...?" "I... I'm better now... I felt a little dizzy... but it's okay now," You tried to straighten up, in which Jumin helped you with. The blonde was not around, she had to hide in the bedroom. "Are you sure?" Jumin asked, still worried. You nodded and headed to the bedroom, and Jumin and the bodyguards after you. The blonde sat down in the corner, terrified. When you were packing your belongings into a bag you pulled out of the closet, Jumin simply stood silently and watched the situation. Yuwoon paced furiously around the apartment. All this packing took you more time than you would like. You gave the bag to the bodyguard and without a word, everyone headed for the exit.
"Wait!" Yuwoon called.
You stopped. The bodyguards were already in the stairwell. You and Jumin still in the apartment corridor. You turned to face your ex-boyfriend. "What do you want?"
"You don’t have to move out, we can still fix it, I'll leave this whore, I love you, not her!"
You couldn't help but laugh icily, "Are you fucking kidding me? I don't even want to look at you, just leave me alone." After these words, you hurried to the exit, passing Jumin by. "You stupid bitch, come back here!" Yuwoon shouted and rushed after you.
Then you heard a loud thud. You jumped and turned around to see what happened. Jumin rested his hand on the wall - his arm was blocking Yuwoon's way.
"Are you by any chance deaf?"
"W-what?" Yuwoon gulped, trembling.
"Didn't the lady said she want you to leave her alone?"
"I..."
"Also, let me remind you, if you'd try to contact her again, there will be consequences."
Yuwoon only nodded his head and Jumin turned to you and put his arm around you, leading you out of the apartment. When you were already in the limousine, you were sitting stiffly in place. You've never seen Jumin like this before. If Yuwoon wouldn’t give up in time, it would most likely end up in a fight.
"Y/N?" Jumin's voice took you out of your deep thoughts.
"How are you feeling? Is everything alright?"
"Yes. I'm fine... I think." "Did I scare you?"
"No, I was just a little surprised, the whole situation was a nightmare, thank you for accompanying me."
There was silence in Jumin's apartment when you unpacked your things. Then in a similar silence, you ate dinner.
"Jumin..." You dared finnaly when you were drinking wine together. "Why did you shut me down here like in a prison?"
Jumin sighed, his eyes closed, "It wasn't meant to be a prison... I just... I was afraid that you would change your mind and go away, that it would come to your mind to get back to that man."
"Why would I want to come back to him? That's ridiculous, Jumin. Besides, we've made a deal, don't you trust me?"
"I trusted V and Rika... They both turned out to be different than I thought."
"I trusted Yuwoon and it turned out that I didn't really know him at all, we are on the same boat, Jumin, if others let us down, let's try to show ourselves that it doesn't always have to be that way."
"You’re saying the sweetest things, Y/N."
"I want you to feel better with yourself, but closing me down here is not a good way."
Jumin put down his glass of wine and pressed his hand to his closed eyes, "I know you're right, it's extremely difficult for me, I know it’s all happening so quickly, but once you're within my reach, I cannot imagine letting you out of my grasp."
You inhaled deeply into your lungs, took a sip of wine and decided to play open cards. You were not stupid. You saw what was happening, though perhaps Jumin himself did not understand it yet, "Jumin... Do you have feelings for me?"
He looked up at you slowly. For a moment he only opened his mouth, as if he could not get a word out of himself, but finally, he began to talk, "I can’t call it in one word, but... You're definitely special to me, I've never met someone as warm and gentle as you. All the threads that have strangled me so far, when you're close... they are tearing apart. It's extraordinary... I feel happy with you, and at the same time terrified... "
"Terrified?" You asked, sad.
"That you will leave me..."
You felt agitated, touched, "Oh, Jumin... I will never leave you, I promise, it's too soon for me to... determine my feelings for you, but you will never lose me, certainly not as a friend."
"I'm not sure if... friendship alone is enough for me," He declared and pierced you with an intense stare. You felt the chills flow down your neck, you blushed.
"I do not want to promise you anything, Jumin, but for starters... You have to understand that you can't keep me here like a cat. Closed. That's not how a healthy relationship should look. You have to trust me."
"I'll try, give me a chance, I'm constantly learning how to reconcile trust and anxiety about you." ***
When you finished your supper, you took a shower, changed into your pajamas and sat comfortably on the bed. You logged in to the chat room.
[Y/N has entered the chat room]
You: What a nightmare...
Zen: What happened, baby? T-T
You: I went for my belongings to the apartment that I rented with Yuwoon.
Zen: Oh... It must have been awkward.
You: Yes, all the more that girl was there...
Zen: The one with whom he..?
You: Yeah...
Zen: I'm so sorry, baby
Zen:
You: Yuwoon turned out to be someone completely strange to me. He showed that side of himself that I had not known before.
Zen: I don't want you to take my words the wrong way, but ...
Zen: Maybe it's a good thing that you two broke up...
Zen: Looks like he was not worthy of you anyway.
Zen: And when your broken heart is healed
Zen: You will definitely find someone who will make you happy
Zen:
[Jumin Han has entered the chat room]
Jumin Han: Are you suggesting yourself, Zen?
Zen:
Zen: chill out, I'm not suggesting anyone
Zen: anyway, dude, what's your problem?
Jumin Han: You can interpret it as me not liking it.
Zen: not liking what? ;;;
Jumin Han: you talking to her that way.
Zen: If you don't like it, just say it.
Jumin Han: I don't like it.
Zen: …
You: Jumin, you're cute when you're jealous ^^
You: But there is no need.
Zen:
Zen: WAIT, what is happening between you two?
Jumin Han: jealous?
Jumin Han: So that's what I feel... Interesting.
Jumin Han: oh, Elizabeth the 3rd is meowing loudly at the door.
Jumin Han: I think she's longing for your company, Y/N
You: cuuute <3
You: Should I go to her?
Jumin Han: Yes, I think she'll be pleased if you take her to your bed.
You: Okay ^^ I'll be there in a minute~
Zen: NO!
Zen: STOP!
Zen: Do not go to him!
Zen: It's an obvious trap!
Zen: This jerk wants to lure you!
Zen: You go straight into the lion's den!
[Jumin Han has left the chat room]
Zen:
Zen: NOOO
You: You're overreacting as always, Zen ^^
[Y/N has left the chat room]
You left the phone on the bed and went to the guest room. Your heart was beating hard. What exactly were you doing? You shouldn't... You knew that Jumin felt something for you. But you were not even sure of your own feelings yet... You shouldn't!
But there you were, knocking on the door, "May I come in?"
"Yes, of course," Was his voice trembling?
You pushed the door and Elizabeth ran out of the room. She ignored you. Apparently, she just wanted to leave, not necessarily because she wants to spend time with you. You stepped into the room, mouth tight with nerves. The light of the lamp illuminated the surroundings. Jumin slowly got out of bed and stopped in front of you.
You laughed nervously and put a strand of hair behind your ear, "I think she's got enough of me."
"It's impossible," He replied and took a step closer to you. "No one could ever have enough of you."
Timidly you looked into his gray eyes, "Jumin..."
"Y/N, may I kiss you?"
Taken aback by his words, you opened your eyes wide.
"I know it's sudden. I know you're still healing after Yuwoon. But I wanted to kiss you even then in the rain when you stood in front of me so vulnerable and wounded. I don't know if I wouldn't do it if it weren't for bodyguards."
You did not know what to say, your heart was pounding wildly, Jumin was even closer to you now and gently took your face in his hands, "I really didn’t like how Zen talked to you."
You looked at his lips, then at his eyes. You wanted this kiss.
"May I...?" He repeated.
"Yes..." You barely finished talking when his mouth was next to yours, your breathing became one. Then you felt his lips on yours and it was like an impulse.
You clung to each other suddenly, Jumin embraced you on the waist, and you wrapped your arms around his neck. His kiss was greedy, he took your breath away.
"I want you..." He panted between the next, more and more roughly kisses. "I want all of you…"
"J-Jumin..." You tried to answer something but he immediately shut your mouth with his own. You whined, clenched your hands on his shoulders. You were so dizzy... It was too much emotion for one day!
Jumin reached down to your thigh, and you instinctively put it on his hip. He growled and pressed your hips to his. When did this kiss turn into something like that?
"Jumin... That's too fast..." You tried to reason with him, although you did not want him to stop. You kissed once again, hard, and Jumin slowly withdrew his head.
"I'm... I'm sorry..." He breathed, his voice hoarse. "I... I got carried away."
He slowly let go of your leg and waist, and you were still resting your hands on his chest for a moment. You both were breathing loudly and you were sure your face is as red as a tomato.
"I... I should..." You started, not looking at him.
"Yes," He said, interrupting you. "You should go to bed. I'm barely controlling myself right now."
"Good night, Jumin..." You whispered and turned quickly at your heel. You left the guest room quickly, unintentionally slamming the door behind you. You almost ran to the bed and fell on it, then put your head into the pillow and closed your eyes.
You were sure of only one thing. You will not get any sleep tonight.

what if i apologize for my lack of writing with this little blurb from the shattered au with dee and miwa
“I’ve never seen a human being before.”
That was the first thing he ever said to Miwa. It was her birthday, her thirteenth to be exact, and naturally her mother had made a big deal of it. Anyone who was anyone in the city had been invited to the outrageously lavish event. Sylvia was living it up, flittering about from group to group putting on a show with her loud laughter and overly gracious thanks for those in attendance. Miwa, of course, knew better, could see right through that performance. Her mother didn't care about anything more than she cared about her image. She needed to be seen as the most powerful person in a room, a perfect mother and an even more perfect businesswoman.
This was more of a networking event than a birthday party. And Miwa wanted to be as far away from it as possible.
Which was why she'd taken to hiding out on the balcony, alone and brooding. And that was why the appearance of the turtle had caught her so off-guard. He stared at her intently, big eyes behind the smooth lens of his glasses sweeping over with an analytical sort of giddy. This must have been Draxum's new plaything, she decided. He wasn't a kid she'd seen before, and for a year now she'd heard her mother discussing the turtle with the other yokai. A scoff left her lips as she turned her head away, facing the city skyline again.
"I am not a human," she corrected, tone firm. "I'm a yokai." She could feel the turtle's eyes on her, and let out a little huff. "A half-yokai. I don't know or care for my human parent, so it barely counts."
"I don't think that's how things work," the turtle mused. "Both sides have to count." Miwa looked back at the other yokai, a scowl on her face.
"Whatever." Miwa slumped in her seat. The turtle shuffled from one foot to the other. She didn't know why, but it made her feel a little bad for how she'd responded. "What're you doing out here, anyway?" she asked, her voice a little softer than it had been.
"Oh! I just, it was too loud inside," the younger yokai answered, adjusting his glasses. "And bright. There are too many people."
"You can say that again," Miwa agreed. The turtle opened his mouth, presumably to do exactly that, but Miwa stopped him. "It's just an expression, don’t actually say it again."
"Oh," he said. And after a pause, continued on. "Why are you out here?" Miwa sighed, her scowl turned into something more of a petulant pout.
"I got bored," she answered. "I always imagined my thirteenth birthday would be more fun, but I haven't really enjoyed a single thing about this party. It's just a bunch of grown-ups talking to my mother, they've hardly said a thing to me!" The turtle's eyes got wide.
"Oh! You're Miwa!" he gasped. "Sorry, Dad told me it was your birthday but I didn't really know what you looked like or anything." Miwa couldn't help but smile a little, amused by his reaction.
"It's okay," she answered. "You're Baron Draxum's son, right? I've heard a lot about you." That seemed to please the kid, making him stand a little taller and nod his head.
"Yeah, I'm - uh, Dee."
"Dee," Miwa repeated. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Dee." The kid smiled, revealing a gap-toothed grin that the girl had to admit was pretty adorable.
"Nice t'meet you too," he answered. "Hang on, I'll be right back." Dee turned and zipped off back inside, and Miwa shook her head before turning her gaze back onto the sky before her. Dee seemed pretty nice, she almost felt bad he'd ended up with Draxum. She didn't know what the yokai was doing with him, it wasn't information her mother would share, but from the different conversations she'd heard between the adults she understood he was more of an asset than a relative in the baron's eyes. Dee didn't seem to know that, though, and Miwa couldn't find a reason to point it out.
He was only gone a handful of minutes before she heard his footsteps rushing back, louder than he'd been the first time he'd snuck up on her. He came to a stop beside her again, a box in his hands. Miwa raised an eyebrow curiously.
"I got you a present," he announced. "I didn't know what you'd like, and Dad wasn't sure either, so I really hope it's okay."
Oh. Miwa hadn't been expecting that. Carefully, she took the box from his hands and picked the wrapping paper off neatly, folding it and setting it aside before actually opening the box.
"I made it myself," Dee announced as she picked up the necklace inside. It was a black cord, with a colorful assortment of beads and, hilariously, a little jade turtle. It wasn't anything particularly special, she had much more intricate pieces of jewelry in her bedroom, the necklace she wore right now was worth more than the crude thing she held in her hand.
Still, it felt worth more than anything she had in her possession.
"Thank you," she hummed. Miwa unclasped the necklace and reached around, securing it around her neck and letting the beads settle against the column of her throat. "I'll never take it off."
"Well, you should probably take it off sometimes," Dee advised. "It isn't good to get jewelry wet." Miwa was fairly certain that wasn't true, but Dee had a matter-of-fact way of saying things that made her less willing to argue.
"Okay," she allowed. "I'll take it off sometimes."
It was a lie.
Sitting in their new home, watching a movie Mikey had eagerly picked out for the group to watch, Miwa found herself wondering when the last time she'd taken the necklace off was while she idly toyed with the turtle between her fingers. She was paying less attention to the movie than she probably should, but she couldn't help it. Sometimes, seeing her siblings all together just distracted her from everything else. Leo and Mikey were a tangle of limbs atop Raph's lap, both focused completely on the screen while the big snapper focused completely on them. Dee had fallen asleep on her shoulder a little bit ago - or, she'd thought so, anyway. She was proven wrong when his fingers came up to inspect the necklace, thumbing over the old beads in the same way she often did.
Neither said anything, but they didn't have to. Dee smiled in that way of his, that way that told you he was genuinely happy. She understood the message there without having to think about it. And Miwa, who wasn't really Miwa anymore, found herself smiling back, as fond as ever. She hoped her expression told him everything she wanted to say, about how grateful she'd met him and how important he and that stupid necklace were to her.
Even if it didn't, she got the sense that he understood.

@viopolis asked: Honeydew still feels very new to me so I wouldn't take this as a comprehensive opinion but; everything you've told me about Celldew feels extremely grounded in canon regarding what kind of person Cell would take interest in- and the prospect of dealing with one stubborn earthling that just won't stay down not only confronts his ideas about perfection, but also gives more weight to earthlings when the setting itself seems to undercut them most of the time. There's an underlying theme there that I think lines up well w/ DB as a whole ( earned skill vs inherent; at least, that feels like it was a theme earlier on lmao ) and its gratifying all on its own, too. I've thought about it on and off for a bit and saw this opportunity to gesture at it, I guess, hahaha Honeydew's neat ( + I absolutely look forward to finding out more about her- her relationship with Flint, their relationship with the red ribbon army / Commander Red, and did I see an AU where she's an underground fighter? that sounds tight af )
anonymously or not, please tell me what you think of my oc! - [ACCEPTING]
//YES, THAT IS ALL CORRECT!! As you and everyone I’ve spoken with know, I take great pride in tailoring their relationship as closely with canon as possible. Fanfiction works like mine aren’t perfect, but I do feel mine IS one that works faithfully with his characterization. I’m not sorry when I say this; but having Cell be super friendly and flirty with your OC (or other canon character) is just LAZY writing. I’ve ranted about this very subject countless times and tbh IT STILL needs drilling in. Call me a buzzkill or whatever, don’t care. I enjoy CellDew being brutal and unforgiving before it gets to the good stuff.
//Aaaanyway, as for Honeydew, I’m also satisfied with her growth from ordinary to extraordinary with discipline and practice. Humans are unanimously undervalued by the fandom unless they’re enhanced by android tech, so my aim was always to challenge the narrative by creating a human that could rival a saiyan’s strength. This series was built on the idea of shattering limits and transformations, so why not apply that with humanity? I certainly DON’T want to venture into sue territory by giving her too many perks, but I don’t want to restrict her either. For Honey, she’s all about adapting to her situations with rapid success, which makes her VERY likely to surpass Tien, Yamcha and Krillin. Cell is an excellent teacher and motivator, giving her necessary experience to achieve those goals realistically.
//ALSO YES, HER RELATIONSHIP WITH HER DAD IS SO COMPLICATED LMAO. She doesn’t hate him, but they’re largely on negative terms with each other since dropping out of university. I DO intend on exploring deeper aspects of her Red Ribbon roots with Red, but Flint is definitely the key to all that. Plus, Gero being his ex-mentor adds to that strange family history. OH AND HAHA YEAH, the underground fighter AU I’m doing with Momo is gonna be fun. It’s basically just a big ‘what if’ scenario if Cell never showed and her farm is facing bankruptcy. To save her livelihood, she ends up working for Nappa as a professional fighter in illegal underground tournaments. Big prize pools, lots of cash to earn with blood on every Zenni~

[Different anon btw] I used to not understand why Goons and Zennies were at war back then. But honestly with what I've seen lately in fandom... I'm starting to get it. J/H are my otp, but it's getting tiring how ppl feel the need to put down E/D + Donna in contrast. The amount of fans that are still bitter that Eric and Donna proclaimed themselves "the perfect couple"... jfc guys it was a joke! They were excited to be back together let it go ugh.
(2) It's got to a point where I'm not even excited to read JH fanfiction anymore. If your ship's that awesome, you shouldn't feel the need to compare them to others (or lie about them, bc Istg it's so obvious by people's comments when they haven't even paid attention to the goons' arc). I sure know that I love Zen, I'm not going to cry because their friends teased them at times.
I ship Eric/Donna, though not to the extent of J/H (who are my OTP). The T7S writers themselves didn't know what to do with D/E after season 5, and I think T7S fans are largely reacting to the lack of originality in D/E's storylines post-S5, true stakes, and conflict / tension. Hence, D/E are deemed boring.
Another issue is the fact while Donna has a bunch of passions outside of Eric, the writers gave Eric one main passion: Donna. He has a lot of personality and personality traits, but he doesn't have a lot of drive. Without drive or goals, that makes a character generally uninteresting to watch (or read about). Another tick in the boring box.
Then there's the rampant Donna dislike, where misogyny (internalized or otherwise) is a root cause. People either ignorantly or willfully ignore the truth of Donna's treatment of Eric, which often gets reduced to and mischaracterized as constant unjustified anger. People also get frustrated with her inconsistent feminism, but that's the writers' fault for putting punchline over fidelity to characterization.
Eric and Donna's arc (made up of smaller arcs) from S1-S4 is well-written, with plenty of foreshadowing and proper development. Unfortunately, the T7S writers lopped off D/E's S1-S4 relationship struggles with one line of dialogue in "Going to California" (5x01) to dive into the engagement storyline. Doing so disrupted the characters’ narrative throughline. They still could’ve become engaged, but it should’ve happened organically after they’d dealt with the issues that broke them up in season 3.
With the proper writing (and writers), Eric and Donna are an interesting, dynamic couple. They’re playful and have conflict derived from their separate baggage. Even the happiest, most self-aware couples will have moments of tension between them. That’s inherent to being in a relationship and sharing a life together.
