I seriously wish that they put Link’s family in BOTW! I know there’s concept art and I’m like why didn’t you do this Nintendo?! Imagine Aryll being Link’s younger sister in BOTW and he introduces Zelda to Aryll! And imagine if he remembered memories with Aryll as he ventured across Hyrule?! AHHHHHH!! Gimme older brother Link again pls!!! (it would be heartbreaking when you realize that Aryll would’ve died within Link’s 100 year nap… but like… I still want it)

You Don't Have To Be A Hero To Save The World
Wind has always known that he doesn't have the "Hero's Spirit" or whatever religious mumbo jumbo the older Links have talked about. He wasn't "Chosen". He'd wanted to save his sister and got dragged down to hell because of it.
Wind never liked talking about it. He didn't feel like he belonged when he did. So if you block it out, it doesn't exist, right? He was so so wrong.
The Links had a penchant for storytelling around the fire, and the topic of tonight's ramble was adventures, as always. But specifically, what started them. Wind pulled uneasily at the scars on his palms.
"What started your adventure, Four?" Hyrule asked, mouth half full of dinner. "I drew a sword and Zelda got kidnapped." Four said, adjusting their headband. "Figures." Legend mumbled quietly. "My adventure was st-" Warriors was cut of by Twilight. "We know it was some lady who was obsessed with you and started a war over it, Wars, we hear it every night." Twilight wasn't mean, just tired.
"What about you, Wind? What started your adventure?" Four asked, smiling encouragingly. Wind never really talked about his adventure (and for good reason.) "Did your Zelda get kidnapped too?" Legend's voice was joking.
"Um. No. My sister did, though. She got carried off by the Helmaroc King and I had to go save her. Tetra told me not to but Aryll's my sister. I couldn't just let her die there." Wind said quietly, still scratching at his scars.
The conversation ebbed and flowed, as Wind sort of lost himself in his head for a little while. He remembered meeting them all, not too long ago. Sky had been handing the Master Sword to everyone, to learn their hero titles. Wind had gone pale and refused to hold it, immediately making everyone suspicious. He had reluctantly given in in the end, and took the sword to hear his title. He'd nursed the burns on his hands in secret, for days after.
XXX
Later that night, as Wind was getting ready to go to bed, he heard the last remnants of conversation. "Who sent you on your journey, Time?" Time gave a small laugh and then said quietly, "A fairy." ...
"I volunteered." Wind called from across the clearing, pillow in his hand. Multiple heads turned to look at him. Why did he say that??? They weren't asking him. "You. What?" Legend asked, confused. Maybe Wind just felt the need to get it out there. "Volunteered. The King Of Red Lions needed me. I wasn't just going to leave him. Besides, the Wind Waker was kind of fun to play with." Legend came close to Wind and grabbed him by the shoulders. "You. WHAT." "Volun-?" "I heard you the first time! I meant why. Why would you volunteer for something like this??? Are you insane? Wind, why?"
"I told you! The King of Red Lions needed me! Outset needed me! I wasn't just going to sit there and twiddle my thumbs while people died!"
Legend gripped his own hair, eyes wide. "But kid, why? Was it just some wish for adventure, or some adrenaline kick? You coulda saved your sister and been done-?"
Wind stood up, little hands curled into fists, pulling at his scars.
"I volunteered for the rest, why are you so pent up about it? It was my own choice! I stepped up when no one would and went through hell to save my fucking sister and everyone else that mattered! It's not my fault your life sucks, because you're such an asshole half the time!! I'm not some dumb kid!" Wind kicked a rock and it ricocheted off the pot still over the fire. Legend flinched. And Wind turned on his heels and took off, screwing up his face and trying not to cry.
XXX
Wind was later found, sitting against a tree, by Sky. Wind was picking at his hands as Sky sat down, the crickets chirping everywhere.
"Are you alright?" Sky asked gently. "Legend is an ass." Wind mumbled, sniffling. "Sometimes. He means well. His adventure was very, very hard on his soul. He doesn't want you to have the same fate." "Still an ass." Wind mumbled, wiping at his eyes.
"It's a defense mechanism, if you will. Here, do you want Fi? She always makes me feel better." It took two seconds for Wind to scramble away, Legend momentarily forgotten. "No, no. No thank you. I don't want to touch that sword." Wind said, shaking his head. "Why not? Maybe she has advice for you- "I SAID I DON'T WANT TO TOUCH THE FUCKING SWORD!"
Wind slapped a hand over his own mouth, and then the other. His eyes welled with tears again and before he could get out any sort of apology, Sky was putting a hand on his shoulder. "Okay. Why, Wind? Why are you so against the Master Sword?" Sky asked, voice quiet. Ready to listen. Fi was his closest friend, so he wanted a reason. Wind shook. "She burns me." He whispered softly, clasping his hands together tightly. "And it hurts." "She what?" Sky's voice was incredulous. "Fi would never! She'd never burn someone with the Hero's S-" "I don't have it." "... What?" "The Hero's Spirit. I don't have it, because I'm a volunteer. I'm no one's successor, I don't have the bonds you guys do. My Hyrule is flooded, and I'm alone." Wind's voice cracked, and the words were not two seconds out of his mouth before Sky was bodily hugging him to his chest. "Hero's Spirit or not, someone's successor or not, you're still our brother, Wind. You always have a place here." Sky whispered, and Wind fisted his hands in Sky's sailcloth.
Wind pulled at the scars on his hands again, and Sky watched. He gently took Wind's small hands in his own, much bigger ones. "Are these the scars from handling the Master Sword? When you had to defeat Ganon?" Sky asked gently.
Wind nodded. "Stabbed him straight through the noggin." He laughed without any humor.
Sky pressed a kiss over each palm, like kissing a boo boo for a young child. Wind almost snatched his hands back. But before he could, Sky said, "We'll make sure it doesn't happen again."
fin.

okay but like the wind waker man. that intro. so many questions. we all know ocarina is dark but man wind waker just straight up said "and then they all drowned and the gods never came to help" hello??? how many years. how many decades. how much time did the adult hero of time buy for them? which child of zelda’s was daphnes? her son? grandchild? great-grandchild? when he stared at the rising waters and realized nothing was going to save them, his kingdom, did he think it was retribution for all the war?
has it really been all that long? yes and also no. the lines are so blurred. the zora are birds and the kokiri are koroks and they had time to Get That Way but everywhere you look the old Hyrule, the Hero of Time himself, they're both all over the place. the deku tree is implied to be the sprout from the adult timeline but honestly who knows. the golden goddesses are statues on islands somewhere and there was a tower built to test who came after but…who and how and why? what was the tower of the gods even for? how did they know they’d need it? at what point did they accept the hero of time was never coming back so they’d probably need to train a new one?
and oh my god, that outset island tradition. “dress your kids in green and give ‘em a sword and pray to the gods they’ll have the courage to cast down evil.” link rolls his eyes at it but he wears them to appease grandma. the revered clothes of the hero have had time to pass into “stupid traditional getup” territory. how many “failed Links” were there before Aryll’s brother? what evil could those children have possibly stricken down? the monsters in the woods?
“what became of that kingdom? none remain who know” like goddamn. say what you want about the hero’s shade in twilight princess. but at least the traumatized ghost got to meet one of his descendants and pass on his songs and his knowledge, even if that knowledge was only of war and death and combat. in the wind waker he’s a statue. an element of a legend mentioned once or twice by the last remaining holdouts of the past—holdouts who so badly want him to return, view him as the solution over all else, that they never pause to consider any other option. there are stained glass windows of the seven sages in the master sword’s chamber that are never mentioned. there is so much that is never mentioned.
nobody knows what the fuck anybody is talking about. link doesn’t know old hylian. tetra is running around the high seas (as a pirate. she and her retainers are now pirates. how did things get that way) with a piece of the damn triforce around her neck and she doesn’t know who ‘princess zelda’ even is. the juxtaposition between ganondorf, older and tired and wiser but still hell-bent on ruling hyrule even if it is a dead land full of nothing and no one, and tetra, a zelda that knows nothing, asking why he’s laughing and calling him insane. because hyrule’s dead. she has no frame of reference for his longing, or what he found so great about this sunken kingdom.
and this is framed as a good thing. the king of red lions thinks it’s better not to let either of the kids in on the loop until tetra nearly dies for lack of knowledge. daphnes nolhansen hyrule brought “the hero” back just to end ganon, and hyrule with him. was the plan always to let the sea fall in on him? maybe. i don’t know. but he rejects zelda’s plea with him to take him with them to the land that will be the new hyrule, because “it will not be hyrule. it will be your land” and that still gets me. he thinks the best thing to do with his kingdom, Hyrule, the kingdom of a whole hell of a lot of irl people’s childhoods, is for it to wash away. he wants the kids to live for the future and they do and they will and they name it hyrule anyway in his honor but he never gets to see it.
anyways i’m still mad everybody got butthurt over “trains in a zelda game” like come on now
#apparently i'm wind waker posting now#zelda thoughts#vaguely inspired by that tp post i saw where it was like “something terrible happened here”#wind waker is the most cheerful post-apocalypse i’ve ever seen#genuinely#because *nobody knows* what happened#a bit meta because wind waker was technically one of my first zelda games and i knew nothing about anything i just knew link was the hero#and then i l e a r n e d#i just really want daphnes and tp zelda to compare notes about their depression#the legend of zelda#lozww#wind waker#the wind waker#tloz#loz#spirit tracks#the legend of zelda the wind waker#triumph forks

Linked Universe enter a TOTK role reverse au
Wild goes back in time instead of Zelda/Flora. When she realizes Wild is the spirit dragon flying around and that the Master Sword is with him she tries to go up and pull it out herself. But it just won’t budge. She’s not a hero of the goddess. But lucky for her Hylia is about to drop off 8 hero’s for her to pick from

Paraglides for the Chain
Part 1
Part 2
How does the chain respond to phantom Wild
Wild and Flora time adventures
After TOTK Flora uses her time powers to take her and Wild on a time traveling adventure to meet up with the other members of the chain and see what they’re doing 6 years after LU adventure.
The idea
Visiting Twilight
Remaking the Mirror of Twilight
Part 1
Reunions in the Wild (Linked Universe)
The chain gets dropped off at Hateno Village. Believing they have been blessed with a break they start to settle into Wild’s home only for Wild’s slate to start going crazy. When he looks the Lon Lon ranch symbol has appeared. When he and Time go to investigate they find Malon. (Cue all the chains loved ones getting dropped into Wild’s Hyrule and everyone going on a journey to pick them up.
Original idea
Time
He’s rescuing Malon
And she is getting dropped off at the Ranch Ruins. There is a guardian there and I fell like there is no place better for her. The Temple of Time would be upsetting for Time but the Ranch Ruins are more dangerous.

7, 9, and 14 :3
Bless you for having the questions right here for me to see
7. What’s the weirdest thing (character) has done/ would do? I think this is meant to have a specific character mentioned, but I’ll try to give a good answer lol. I think the weirdest thing is def Sky breaking into people’s houses and sleeping in their beds lol. Not even Wild does that. And yeah I know that Sky grew up with the people of skyloft, but I love to imagine that he just does that. So when he’s out of skyloft, he discovers that not everyone likes it when a random stranger goes into their home and sleeps in their beds lol. Apparently people will call the town guard on you 🤔
9. What headcanons/ plans do you have about (character)’s family? I think this is meant to be another specific character, but I think a lot about the Link’s families! Sky, Minish, Time, and Legend I have no ideas, but there’s Hyrule’s family that I think about the most! His mother is a great fairy and his father is a Hylian, so he himself is a half fairy! His father Benji married his mother Faima since he was conceived and they raised him together. But unfortunately, while traveling Hyrule, Benji lost sight of his son, and they got separated. Benji spent most of his time looking for his son (his real name is Orchid) but he was basically renamed Link and was all over Hyrule. So he wasn’t able to find him until after the events of aol. Benji and Faima were pretty distraught knowing how rare and valuable their son is, so it was bad vibes. But now that they’ve reunited, they’re trying to rekindle their relationship! But Hyrule doesn’t remember much of his childhood, just vague memories of his parents, so it’s a challenge.
Twilight’s biological family still has me confused. Idk how old I want him to be when he meets Rusl and Uli, idk how his parents died, idk where they died, idk what’s happening. But I do know that during the temple of time, Link was officially adopted by Rusl and Uli. Very wholesome and cute.
Four’s mother was a very tough woman, which ended up being her demise. When he was 3 months old, she got sick and ended up collapsing cuz she kept pushing through. Leon (Four’s father) found her and took her to the healer, and she ended up dying. Leon had to take time off from being a knight to take care of his son, fortunately the king was very kind and understanding, and many women were able to help feed Four since he was still a baby. When Four got older, the king allowed him and Lily (his Zelda) to be raised together while Leon was working. That’s why the two are so close, and Leon helped Lily when the king eventually passed away. It’s just Four and his father now
Windy’s parents died when he was like… four? Or five. He was pretty young. His mother died during child birth, and his father and grandfather died during a hurricane. Grandma and Aryll were all he had left. He has vague memories of his father, he still remembers him promising Windy to take him fishing someday. But it never happened.he adores his sister and grandma of course, and he sorta had to grow up to help raise Aryll and many of the kids on outset. He was at an awkward age where he was too young to hang out with the adults, but too old to hang out with the kids, and he always had to babysit them. So he spent a lot of time alone or with Aryll, since she’s a lovely sister.
I have no ideas for Spirit so moving onto Wild and Age. They basically have the same family sooooo yeah. His father is Ammon and his mother is Sarah. Sarah is from Hateno and trained under her father to be a blacksmith. Ammon is from castle town and has had a rough time after his older brother, Georgie, died. He got motivated to join the army and to protect people, and that led him to Hateno where he and Sarah met. Age/Wild have/had a younger sister named Aryn, who’s much younger than her older brother, probably around 12, and she’s a more positive upbeat kinda gal. His grandfather is an intimidating and strict old man, but he has a soft spot for his grandchildren. They rarely see Ammon’s parents tho since their relationship is very strained. Not much else to say, beloved. Rip Wild.
And Warriors…. When he was very little, probably 5, he was with his twin sister Linkle, his grandmother, and his father. Monsters attacked their village and they got separated, with Linkle sticking with her grandmother, and Warriors sticking with his father. They all assumed they were dead. Linkle and her grandmother stayed at some outskirts village while Warriors and his father stayed near castle town since his father is a knight. Warriors got pretty popular with the knights that his father knew, and when he was 12, his father passed away. Warriors went to his father’s best friend, Theo and asked him to train him when he was 13 cuz he wanted to follow his father’s footsteps, so he was trained. Hence why he’s so good at fighting. Their grandmother died a little before the war of eras, so he never reunited with her. But he and his twin sister were able to meet again :)
Phew ok that’s it, I hope that makes sense and I hope that’s how you’re supposed to answer the question 😭😭
14. Do you have any headcanons about the races of Hyrule? Man this would’ve been the perfect time to talk about Hylians vs humans 😭😭 guess I’ll do it again. Hylians and humans are very similar to each other, but they are physically different! Obviously Hylians have pointy ears, and it allows them to hear better than humans. They’re also much tougher than humans. They can fall from a high height into water or on land and have a higher chance of surviving than if a human were to fall. They can also handle extreme temperatures much better than humans. This is all based on gameplay in Zelda, which I know that Link is pretty tough in game cuz it’s a video game, but hey, there’s gotta be some differences! This is more focused on my strangers across eras au but it’s fun to think of differences between the races!

oops I accidentally came up with a lu oc hero, guess my hyperfixation is a lil too strong
ANYWAY the oc is a version of Aryll, she's that version of link's twin, and her link is. very dead. like, deader than a doornail. so she strongarmed hylia into making the hero by total accident and doesn't like the chain when they first meet
she thinks they're graverobbers bc she buried the master sword with her brother because she couldnt really use it, it wasn't balanced right for her, and...well, she made her own Magic Sword. it's called the truthseeker, and it makes whoever holds it tell the truth. very good for weeding out liars and traitors, i'll tell you.
anyway, her hyrule is fairly industrialised, and her version of ganon is. kinda just a guy? like, they call him the 'tyrant ganon', and her thing is that she and zelda helped lead a people's revolution, so she has complicated things about wars and that kinda stuff.
her link's nickname would've been revolution or 'rev' for short because he was the hero of the revolution, but unbfortunately, he's. yknow. dead. so she gets that title, and maybe another? I thought maybe Song? if her hyrule was actually from a game, i'd call it 'song of the innocent', so using that, she'd be Song. because Innocent doesnt sound like a fun nickname to have.
but yeah, she has a complicated relationship with the chain, even after the graverobber thing was sorted. she'd get along with wind the best, i'd say, and maybe legend? it depends. she and wars would tolerate each other but like,,,they dont particularly like each other. she doesnt like authority much, and her hyrule is busy inventing democracy.
her main weapon is, obviously, truthseeker, but she's a very good archer. this is inspired by a quote from ranger's apprentice that would also apply to wild, that "a good archer trains until he gets it right. a ranger trains until he doesn't get it wrong." so she's a good archer. nothing fancy, she's not like wild, but she does sometimes lace her arrows with poison. her zelda is setting up an apothecary and so she's getting as many plant samples as she can for her!
#oc#linked universe#linked universe oc#shes a tad feral#and may bite you#but she has heart and thats what matters#she is also totally besties with hyrule#theyre plant buddies with wild too

I wonder about Link's family. We never meet his parents, he's only had a sister a few times, he had a grandma and uncle once. So what does this mean for No Fate? Is he an orphan, unlikely with how peaceful it is at the moment. Does he have a sister here if so what does this mean for her? Where does this Link even live? I doubt Link even has a last name!?
Ha!
Okay so I actually do give him a family but they're.... not fleshed out at all. So we have parents and a little sister(Aryll!)
Much like some other games, he grew up in a smaller farm town outside of the main Castle Town. But the town's still just a short trip so his parents have a market stall in Castle Town that he tagged along with to help out at when he was little.
Ofc one of these tag-along trips involves him running into Zelda and because of them remembering things they see each other, immediately Spider-Man meme, and then are pretty inseparable from then on.
Link splits his time between like. 'Officially' he's training to be a Knight, but he also continues to help out at the market and does go home to the actual farmtown often enough.
Re: the whole 'believing the reincarnation' thing.... Link's parents are a bit on the fence about it.
Like they just. They see that Link kinda. Knows things he shouldn't and takes to new tasks too quickly as if he's done it before. Which would make sense if he does genuinely remember a past life. (I think their denial is more.... well. Denial. If they accept that he has some kind of Destiny, that means their baby boy will be in horrific danger.)

More into the lu au plox? (Just discovered it yesterday)
Into the lu au
Sure have some deets:
Link and Aryll have recently moved halfway across the world with their grandmother to join their uncle in New York as their grandmother is too old to work on her own while caring for children. Their uncle works at Coney Island and Link helps out, though sometimes he just wanders around after hours. He was in a restricted area when he got bit by a spider and you know. Got spidered.
He goes back the next night, trying to figure out what happened when oh no there's explosions because Ganondorf is trying to pull apart reality. Spiderman, aka adult timeline Time, shows up and after meeting and mentoring Link (who is Wind) for a very short time uh he dies. And the device ends up drawing in other versions of him from other universes
Ghost Spider and Wolf Spider, aka child timeline Time and Twilight, come through from their own universe. Ghost is unnerved by the fact that he's dead in this universe and Wolf probably won't exist, but they have their own life to get back to, so he keeps moving. (Wolf actually will be, Malon is unaware she's pregnant at her husband's funeral. This version of Wolf will be mentored by Wind in about ten years when his powers kick in.)
Sorcerer Spider, aka Hyrule, is a gerudo sorcerer who uses an illusion to look like his universe's Spiderman, aka downfall Time, who died saving him among others- so he gets Wind in a way some of the others don't. Four is four thousand spiders in a trench coat who are really good at teamwork. Legend is a cartoon bunny. Sky has a glider he prefers to swinging, Wild is from an apocalypse. Warriors is the only Spiderman who didn't get dragged into the portal on accident. He's from a highly advanced universe that monitors time and multiverse travel, and got the alert that there was a breakthrough. (Sorta spider society, sorta tva, sorta it's own thing). When Ghost refuses to let Wind help, because he's a child, and insists on making the heroic sacrifice to close the portal behind the others, Warriors refuses to let him because it's literally his job- and he lets Wind come along to distract Ghost so he can make sure he gets home safe. This slightly backfires when Wind also tricks Warriors into getting to safety before closing it himself. All's well that ends well, though, so.
(when Ghost took off his mask and Wind realized how similar he looked to his Spiderman he freaked out. Legend deflected by asking about his facial tattoos, which he revealed he got to cover up the scars a symbiote left on him (FD). Wolf has already been lectured to great length about the dangers of symbiotes, but the others get a cliff notes version. However, in a decade, Wind will forget to pass this on to his version of younger Wolf, who will end up involved with and then staying with a symbiote named Midna. (I know I said the Midna in grown wolfs universe is a hacker and she can still be. She's just an alien symbiote in wind's universe.)
There are other spider people, and though they don't show up in this story, Warriors knows some of them from his work. This includes a spider Linkle, a spider Aryll, a spider Sheik, a spider Zelda, a spider First, a spider Ravio, and a spider Ganondorf

UNDER YOUR SPELL
Written for @zelinkcommunity Zelink Week Day 5: Spellbound
Rating: T Tags: Magic AU, Link is a travelling potions maker, Zelda owns an apothecary, Fluff and humour, Misunderstandings, Crush at first sight Summary:
"I think Zelda did something to me secretly when I walked into the apothecary. I felt like my stomach was going to explode with butterflies or something. My heart was going all fast and I had some sort of fever! Even now whenever I think of her I have the same sensations again. No idea what kind of hex this is but– wait, why are you laughing?” All Aryll did was laugh harder. “Aryll, what the hell, stop laughing! This is serious!” “Sorry,” she said, wiping tears from her eyes and not sounding very sorry at all. “Yeah, sounds like she’s properly enchanted you.” (Link meets apothecary owner Zelda and is convinced she must have put a spell on him. Time to investigate!)

Wind’s father figures.
Okay, this is definitely one fic I gotta write when I finish my current one for One Piece:
Before meeting the Chain, Wind has had a total of three people he's considered his dad.
Everyone talks about Linebeck and how he's Wind dad even if he won't admit it, so for now I'll leave him be and focus on the other two.
-First it was his birth father that tragically died when he was 5. He was a famous cartographer from whom Wind inherited his love for the sea and navigation skills.
-Wind's father would tell him the legend of the Hero of Time himself and other stories about his journeys across the Great Sea while they would both stare longingly at the waves.
-When Wind was born, he stopped sailing for some time because he was afriad of leaving his family alone if something happened to him. But when Wind's mother got pregnant with Aryll, the family was suddenly in need of more money.
-It was then that someone offered Wind's father a huge sum for drawing a map to locate the infamous ghost ship of the Great Sea. He took the job because the money would be enough for the family, but he'd have to lie to say he wasn't happy to get back on the waves one more time.
-Wind's father was able to complete the map and even discovered what was the supposed treasure in it's cargo. But before he could tell anyone, he mysteriously died and his map dissappeared.
-Since the map was nowhere to be found, the rich man who commissioned him refused to pay his familiy. This is one of the reasons Wind started to embrace the pirate's life while sailing the Great Sea.
-Wind's mom died when she gave birth to Aryll and so her two children were left to be raised by their grandma.
-During Wind Waker, Wind bonds with the King of Red Lions/King Daphnes
-I imagine King Daphnes as an opposite to King Roahm, but just as tragic and unintentionally harmfull. While Roahm didn't make sure to let Zelda know that he was in her corner, Daphnes innocently put too much pressure in Wind by remaining supportive, but still placing all his hopes in him.
-Think of Shifu's line to Tai Lung in Kung Fu Panda, "I loved you too much to realize what I was turning you into. I'm sorry."
-King Daphnes is not only is the first to believe that Wind has the makings of a Hero, he remains his biggest supporter through their journey.
-King Daphnes is the one who teaches Wind how to navigate and sail and Wind is ecstatic to find out he inherited his father's skills as a natural navigator and cartographer.
-He also encourages Wind to explore the Great Sea as he's wanted to his entire life, on the basis that it'll help him become strong enough to face Ganondorf. More importantly though, Daphnes just wants Wind to be as much of a kid as he can be in their situation.
-It's not long before they start to see each other as father and son. Daphnes tells him that, even if the gods thought otherwise, to him he would always be as brave and heroic as any old legend and that he's proud no matter what happens.
-This does become a problem because Daphnes has such belief and pride in Wind that he fails to realize in how much danger he's dragging his boy into. A brave boy, yes. But still a boy who shouldn't have to fight a man's battle.
-Because of that, he never stops to think about persuading Wind to stop and let an adult handle it. Wind would've refused of course, but that conversation between them never happens.
-It's not until Wind's friends start to be chosen one by one to fullfill their duties as Princess and Sages that Wind starts to question Daphnes and the kingdom's importance.
-Makar becoming a Sage is the last straw for Wind and he and Daphnes have a terrible disagreement. In the end, Wind tells Daphnes that he'll keep fighting to save his friends but that he was a fool for getting attached to someone who's just using him.
-That serves as a wake-up call to Daphnes to what he's doing and he starts to wonder if this world would be better off without Hyrule.
-Wind not only discovers his father's ghost ship map but also manages to hunt the ship down and recover the treasure aboard: A piece of the Triforce. He still doesn't find out what truly happened to his father but he's glad that his final work wasn't for nothing in the end.
-His expirience aboard the ship leaves him very shaken, but he still refuses to speak or listen to Daphnes unless necessary.
-When Wind gets appointed as the new Hero Spirit before descending to Hyrule again, Wind no longer feels as excited as he thought he would be in that moment.
-When Daphnes wishes for Hyrule to be drowned, part of him wants to come with Wind to keep raising his boy, if he'll have him. But the other is too weighted down by regret over failing his kingdom before and his son in the present.
-To this day, Wind is still guilt-ridden over saying Daphnes never cared for him. He'd give anything to be able to take it back.
-Wind is very much aware that Daphnes put him and his loved ones in danger and he's conflicted on why he chose to stay to drown. But he can't find it in him to stop missing the King or loving him.

what’s some of your favorite loz/Lu fics of all time? :)
Most of my favorite LU fics are here
but what you guys may not know is that I'm also a big fan of botw and modern au Zelink fics, however, take heed, most of these get a little spicy
Like Real People Do by ScarlettStorm: one of the best post-botw fics out there, lots of pining, I absolutely adore how Link's experience with Gender is portrayed, how he and Zelda are both treated as equally traumatized, as sometimes it feels like there's always one troubled one and one caregiver and I can get that for shorter fics but this one is long and beautifully balanced in that aspect. It also gets real horny at the end and in my opinion, it's very tasteful.
Alone With You by @deiliamedlini: honestly this author has a bunch of bangers, I'm waiting for their pirate au to finish so I can binge it all and I reread their Zelink oneshot collection all the time, this one is their modern high school au where Link is kind of a bad boy who is secretly Fucked Up, and Zelda is a popular girl and surprise surprise, they both get along really well. Normally I hate anything that reminds me of high school but this is the only exception. I love how previous characters are included, like how Link knows ASL bc he's friends with Pipit who is deaf and how Revali is a bitch and I still want to strangle him. Also big sister Aryll is a treasure and this fic does such a good job portraying Link's mental struggles and PTSD and how Zelda is being neglected and I'm also a big fan of the overarching plot of medical issues and trauma.
The Calamity of Link's Cargo Shorts by @zeldaseyebrows: I don't understand how someone can make smut so funny and so focused on Zelda's own self-hatred. Seriously though, there's a lot to love with this fic and I adore Zelda's pov. Sometimes you have to have sex before opening up emotionally and that's okay. Also, it's a modern au too, I just realized how many of these are modern aus.
Strangers in the Night by @zeldaelmo: Another modern au, this time Zelda has a kid from a ons with Link and he doesn't know about it for a bit, I just love Link being a dad and how they both work for a museum and there's just something about the courtroom scene that makes me want to reread it over and over again. Sometimes it's hit or miss with family ocs but Tetra is my favorite zelink child ever. All the fics on this list are ones I reread a lot but this one is the one I'm currently rereading bc it's been a few months lol. I love the domestic but also a little dysfunctional vibes, it's definitely not the normal romcom type of thing but I think I like this more.
K.K. Love Song by @airplanned: Again, modern au, pandemic edition. This one in particular has a certain unexplainable soft vibe, like there's some long-distance, Animal Crossing online romance and idk why I like it so much, I guess I was one of the suckers that got pulled in by new horizons when it came out so there's some strange kind of covid nostalgia and it's nice to see how a functional government would deal with the pandemic. Also, Link's grandma is a treasure and there's something sweet about crown princess Zelda meeting some guy on animal crossing and accidentally making him a public figure by dating him. Honestly, this author has a lot of great fics that I reread a lot lmao.
Farore's Day and Windvane Lane by Jenseits_der_Sterne: modern thanksgiving au, Zelda is a quirky scientist single mom and Link is her neighbor. I love Link being a nerd and Zelda being a bit of a disaster. Like she accidentally almost blows up her kitchen and he's just looking on with heart-eyes, after helping her put out the fires of course.
tbh, I'm probably not the best person to go for fic recs as I just find a few really good ones and then reread them till the end of time and rely on other people to recommend me things to read lmao, I hope this was at least a little helpful anyway.
#i really hope none of these authors mind being tagged#honestly i could probably go on by I'm on a time limit#i should probably read more though#im not great at finding diamonds in the rough I'm not great at searching for fics#I just reread the same ones over and over again#ask andromeda#fic recs#zelink#loz fic recs#for an aspec i really do love these little elves falling in love#i just realized that only one of these isn't a modern au#i genuinely didn't know that i read so many modern aus...

We're at the end of this "series" of polls!
For me, Wind still doesn't think about anything regarding relationships right now. He wants to explore the sea, find treasures, discover secrets, islands and more! He wants to find that new land the king was talking about and he and Tetra won't fail. However, he might as well have a crush for Tetra, he's amazed by her spirit and determination. In the future, they'll be together and rule on New Hyrule as their first king and queen.
Headcanon: Aryll will later join the crew too. After some time, she and Niko will be in a relationship. When the new land is found, Wind, Tetra and Gonzo leave the crew and start a life there. Tetra thinks about building a new town and castle, helped by her new friends, the Lokomo, while Wind and Gonzo explore the area to meet other inhabitants and discover new zones. Aryll and Niko go back to Outset to assist the old grandmother. The rest of the crew continues to sail the sea, bringing messages, finding hidden treasure and such. Wind and Tetra eventually start a family and so do Aryll and Niko. Some generations later, Niko and Aryll decide to move to New Hyrule (without any royalty as they hadn't been there before). Niko and Aryll's children all go exploring as pirates, but eventually one of their great-grandchildren brings them their kid, Spirit tracks Link, to grow up there.

Ahoy, Big Brother!
Quill said he knew a postman who could find you to deliver this letter! It should get there a week from now at 1 or 2 pm. Do you still sleep in like you used to?
Lately, I've been traveling with the pirate crew. The other day, Tetra and I were playing dress up with pirate jewelry and she told me I've got what it takes to become a captain someday! Tetra also says that sometimes she tries to contact you through her charm necklace, but most of the time she just hears strange noises.
Not too long ago, we all visited Grandma. The pirates would try to act so polite when she was in the room; it was really funny! I think Grandma really enjoyed the company -- you know how she gets lonely sometimes. I've been trying to learn how to make her soup, but it seems like Grandma's is always better!
Several days ago, a strange man named Tingle was selling a pictograph of what he claimed to be a new land. Said he got it from Beedle who got it from who knows where. He offered it for 9,999 rupees, but Tetra convinced him to drop the price by tying him up.. This could be big news! If we manage to locate this place, I want all of us to go ashore together!
I like the letters you send me. So, I guess I have eight brothers and another father (besides Linebeck) now? I'd love to meet them. I was cleaning your old boat at Outset and I think one of them might appreciate the carving on him. And I still can't believe you met the Hero of Time! Does he wear those silly green clothes that boys have to wear in the Outset tradition?
I've got lots of tales to tell, so we should catch up sometime!
- Aryll
Sky: Is it normal for your Zelda to tie someone up?
Wind: If she doesn't at least once a week, than she's been possessed. I swear she has some kind of fe-
Time: Absolutely not, Sailor. Even though I've given up on containing your swearing doesn't mean sex jokes are allowed.
Wind: Yet.
Sky: Changing the subject, your sister travelers with pirates? And you and your grandmother are fine with it?
Wind: Apparently, and being with them is one of the safest places on the ocean. If anything touches a hair on her head, the rest of the crew will go batshit insane.

Fandom: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Rating: T Words: 4.2K~ Summary: In another world, a young girl awakens right beside the resurrected hero, fearful and disoriented. Outposts are left to ruins, her brother’s mind is in tatters, and they’ve barely seen a soul traveling these lands since they first emerged from that cavern… What happened to her family? What happened to her Hyrule? __ (An AU retelling of Breath of the Wild, focused on the growing bond between an amnesiac young man who must relearn how to be both champion and brother, and a lost little girl who must find new purpose in the remains of the land she once called home.)
Chapter Summary: Accompanied by his little sister, Link continues their journey east, reckoning with monsters and his forgotten past along the way.
If you enjoy, I’d heartily appreciate your support via reblogs here and/or comments/kudos on AO3! Thanks <3

Chapter Preview:
“I wish I can see Mother again,” she says, her tone remaining upbeat and conversational despite her body language and the delicate subject matter. “I miss her laugh.”
He offers a soft hum in return to signal that he’s listening, not sure how else to respond. Especially since his hands are busy gripping Makk’s mane. Hmm. He wonders if they’ll find a saddle and bridle kit anywhere, once they reach civilization…
“She has a really good laugh,” she adds, peering up towards the sun as it dips behind a small cloud, “the kind that makes your whole tummy rumble. I haven’t heard it in a while, but… if I think super hard I can still imagine it in my head!”
Another passing silence.
(What can a person say, in response to a child’s pending grief?)
Aryll swivels her head to peer back at him, her eyes glazed with the faintest whispers of resignation when they meet his.
“Are you sure you don’t remember anything about her? Anything at all?”
He shakes his head no, his memory wholly void of such personal details. It feels as if the more he attempts to chase the impression of those lost years, they pull even further away.
“Hmmm…” she muses, pressing a hand to her chin as she contemplates this likely unwanted response. “Then I guess it’s just my job to teach you!”
Link nods his approval, the ends of his lips turning up into something approaching a smile. He’d honestly love that, if for nothing else than to pass the time on their ride.

Ok, so I’m kind of obsessed with Links Meet AUs. All of them. @linkeduniverse, @linkbetweenlinksau, @minas-linkverse, @linked-maze, you get the idea. I also don’t have anywhere NEAR their following, but nevertheless, I have an idea.
A Links Meet au… but there are no Links.
Let me explain. In the Skyward Sword prequel manga, when First dies, Hylia does NOT force him to reincarnate alongside her for all time. But her eternal war with Demise is still a thing, so she’s forced to choose other warriors to bear the mantle of hero— or sometimes take it up herself. Here’s the basic crew, although if I do make a whole AU out of it, I’ll probably narrow it down a bit. And if anyone has better ideas, I will happily consider them.
~ Princess Zelda is the Hero of Hyrule. When she realized no hero was coming to reassemble the Triforce of Wisdom, she escaped Ganon and collected them herself. She’s a lot like her cartoon counterpart, but has a magic zappy sword, casts spells, and turns into a fairy.
~ Ravio is the Hero of Legend. His first adventure was a cross between ALttP/ALBW - he was dragged into Hyrule to claim the Master Sword, and uses it to defeat Yuga Ganon back in Lorule. He’s a little more courageous than usual, but just as much of a hoarder. And he does turn into a bunny, but embraces the transformation.
~ Saria is the Hero of Time. She began to age upon leaving the Kokiri Forest, and didn’t leave Hyrule after returning to her childhood. She’s now in her teens again, and Mido is the new Sage of Forest.
~ Kafei is the Hero of Termina, because I can’t really see Saria doing Majora’s Mask, and a quest driven by love for Anju would be incredible. He has all the masks, and a Lunar Ocarina like Skull Kid in HW.
~ Princess Zelda is the Hero of the Four Sword. Her father, King Daltus, was turned to stone while shielding her from Vaati, so she and Ezlo forged the Four Sword to restore him. She’s much younger than the other heroes.
~ Aryll is the Hero of the Winds. After accidentally causing Tetra to be kidnapped, she joined her crew and set out to rescue her- with the permission of her grandma, of course. Now she’s a young teenager, and won’t let anyone forget that she’s the First Mate.
~ Rusl is the Hero of Twilight. While trying to rescue his son from the monsters raiding Ordon, he was dragged into the twilight and turned into a wolf. He’s kinda everyone’s dad, including his Midna and half of the Resistance.
~ Groose is the Hero of the Skies. With no rivals for Zelda’s affections, it was he who witnessed her abduction and followed her to the surface- and inadvertently caused the curse of the heroes.
~ Linkle is the Hero of Warriors. She enlisted in the Hyrulean Army immediately after Queen Zelda’s disappearance, and became Impa’s protege. She doesn’t like the Master Sword, and greatly favors crossbows and explosives.
Maybe I’ll draw them. Maybe not. Just thought I’d put the idea out in the world, cause my brain runs out of space sometimes.

Next request was Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass so here is Link nicknamed Gull. I included his Outset Island clothing (which is inspired by clothing seen on villagers in Lurelin village from BotW) as well as his Hero Garb from Wind Waker. I also decided that a few years pass between Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass so the two designs on the right are his Phantom Hourglass looks during the adventure as well as his final look. Some design choices I made for this design was the inclusion of the wrap around Link's waist in Wind Waker, the idea is that everyone on the island wears one and the color marks family, the beads on the cord that hold the wrap in place marks the members of the family, the darker beads mark the older members while the lighter beads mark the youngest. The shell necklace that link wears is a piece of jewelry left from his mother that he wears and his grandma mentions to pass on to the one who he wishes to ask for marriage.
BEFORE THE ADVENTURE
Link grew up on the small island of Outset with his younger sister Aryll and their grandmother following the disappearance of their parents small fishing vessel. On the island Link and his sister help their grandma and the other inhabitants with farming and fishing, Link typically acting as a babysitter for the children on the island. Following the traditions of his island on his 10th birthday he is gifted a green garb made in honor of a hero of legend, one called the Hero of Time who wore a similar garment. Despite how uncomfortable the garment may be in the heat of his home island Link wears it with pride and goes to meet with his sister on the lookout spot of the island, where he receives her telescope on lone for the day. It is during this interaction when Aryll and Link watch as a stranger is dropped into the forest on the top of their island by a giant bird.
DURING THE ADVENTURE
After Aryll was taken in Tetra's place Link gains the family shield from his grandma and joins Tetra's crew to sale to the Forsaken Fortress to save his sister. After the initial attempt fails Link wakes up on WindFall Island and is joined by a talking boat who claims it's name is the King of Red Lions, after an initial period of panic and freaking out Link understand the this boat is willing and able to help him so the two end of sailing the seas helping inhabitants of a number of islands and running into/avoiding Tetra's crew as they work towards and unknown goal. After Link rescues his sister and she is taken to Tetra's ship the two go to face off against Ganon though are overwhelmed and are later saved by the Rito, following the lead of the King of Red Lions Link and Tetra discover the truth and Tetra, now Zelda, is left in hiding within the secret shelter under the sunken remains of the Castle of what remains of Hyrule. After defeating Ganon and returning Aryll to Outset, Link joins Tetra's crew and explores the rest of the seas, exchanging letters with his sister and grandma regularly. During this time they hear rumors of a ghost ship that follows an impassable wall of fog. They set out to the uncharted seas where the ship/fog are most common to face the ship and it's crew to make the sea safe again. When the mysterious ghost ship finds them Tetra races ahead to fight of the opposing crew. Link and Tetra are separated after a strike of lighting hits the ship and Link is sent into the sea before waking up on a new island and meets Oshus and later Linebeck. With the cowardly captains help Link travels the seas, defeating bosses and saving islands before returning to the ghost ship and saving Tetra. During this journey Link's red coat is destroyed, and he is frustrated as it is destroyed as it was a gift from Tetra.
AFTER THE ADVENTURE
After saving Tetra from the ghost ship she and Link continue their exploration of the sea and looking for new land to rebuild Hyrule on. During this time Link gifts Tetra the shell necklace he wore as a way to express his intentions of forming a deeper relationship with her and they continue on adventure. As they travel the crew gifts Link a new coat, featuring the blue that he wore on his island home of outset as well as the Lobster symbol of the island. Link also shows more of the green that people of the sea associate with the previous hero as he comes to accept his new title following his second adventure.
