I was doing dishes sometime last year while I was still living at my parents house and my sister had a podcast on where an artist for the Wolverine comics was on and he gave some really good advice for people interested in writing comics:
"Start making a comic you are passionate about"
And it reminded me about the times I have seen books come across my desk (I'm a librarian) and I have said "oh my God I read this person's webcomic back in 2014!". And now they have published books! They've "made it"! The first one of these I remember seeing was "Yummy: A History of Desserts" by Victoria Grace Elliot who had started with a lovely webcomic called "Balderdash" . And then I saw "Garlic and The Vampire" by Bree Paulson who's style I instantly recognized from her webcomic Patrick the Vampire.
I think there is something to be said about using love to improve your skill and then eventually that skill will carry you to success idk

meta knight's dark secret is that he's normal. he's buall. hes soft and cuddly. he used to sleep in jammies as a kid that had his name written on the tag. he worked on a farm with his family for most of his childhood. he played touys. he used to pretend his gardening tools were weapons and pretended to fight dragons and massive birds with them. he has a close relationship with his parents and siblings and cousin. he used to ride around on a little bike and deliver mail for his first independent job. he likes to eat yummy food but he doesnt want to eat his vegetables and tries to pretend they're not there so he can have dessert faster. he collects trading cards and keeps them in a big book that he's had since he was 12. he loves history and learning about swords and the evolution of military tactics. he used to have glowing star stickers in his bedroom. he had a name before he called himself "Meta Knight". he fell and scraped his face once when he was 8 and tried not to cry while his mom put a bandage on it and told him he was very brave. he wants to help people in need even if he himself has nothing to gain from it. he wet the bed once and tried to burn the sheets to hide the evidence. he likes to get 16 oz. blended mochas with whipped cream and chocolate and caramel syrup because they remind him of his dad. he sometimes wonders what his family would think of his new friends and if they'd like them. he is someone at heart who is so abundantly mundane and human in such a charmingly beautiful way behind the mask and visage of his strength and mystique and the face behind it is the first hint towards his true nature

Next Stop: Celebration Station!
Fluff
Noritoshi Kamo x gn!reader
It’s Noritoshi’s birthday so you decided to treat him with a surprise celebration :)
It was finally June 5. The day you’ve been looking forward to for months.
Noritoshi’s birthday!
You hopped out of bed, eager to put your plan in motion. Decorating his room and throwing a party would be the easy part. The most difficult part was making sure he didn’t catch on to what you were doing because you knew he would protest your efforts.
“I’ve never celebrated my birthday,” Noritoshi had confessed to you sometime last year when the topic arose. “I was taught that my existence was a burden. Why would anyone in my clan celebrate that?”
When your boyfriend confided in you, you felt your heart shatter into a million pieces. That day, you swore to yourself that his next birthday was going to be one he’d never forget and you immediately started figuring out everything you wanted to do to make his day as special as he was.
You were shocked that your classmates were willing to not only help distract Noritoshi long enough for you to decorate the common room, but actively participate in the birthday festivities. You thought they’d laugh at you or at the very least politely decline, but everyone was on board. Even Mai, which you never saw coming, but you figured she had a niceness buried deep, deep, deep down inside her. Their willingness to come to your aid was currently coming in handy as Momo was tasked with keeping Noritoshi in the library for as long as possible, pretending to need tutoring and study advice. If that failed, Miwa was going to ask for a detailed lesson in the history of archery. If that failed, then Todo would restrain him until you were ready. Thankfully, your first plan with Momo was going smoothly according to the thumbs up text she sent you. Kokichi was helping you, via Mechamaru, put up streamers high in the room so you didn’t have to teeter on chairs and potentially fall over. Meanwhile, you were busy baking the cake. Noritoshi loved coffee so what better than a chocolate mocha flavored birthday cake? It wasn’t traditional by any means but you figured he’d dealt with enough tradition throughout his life that this would be a welcome change. When the batter was done, you sneaked a little taste to make sure it was yummy—so did Mai, as her finger was coated in the raw dessert from dipping it straight in the mixing bowl.
“Ew, Mai! You got your germs in it,” you cried.
“When Kamo blows the candles out, his germs are gonna get all over it anyway,” she said, licking her finger.
“Yeah, but I kiss him so that doesn’t matter,” you mumbled under your breath. Unfortunately, Mai heard you.
A wicked grin spread on her face. “I can kiss you if it makes you feel better about this whole thing.”
She started running toward you and you quickly put up the spatula as your defense weapon.
“Stay away from me, you weirdo!” you yelled out, half laughing. Mai started cackling as well, grabbing one more swipe of batter and opting to leave you be as you still had lots more work to do and she didn’t want to put you behind schedule in fear of being told to pick up the slack. With the cake in the oven, you went to work on the snacks next. When those were finished, you pulled the baked cake out of the oven to cool before frosting. You checked on Kokichi, who was all done with the decorating. His last task was to just meet back here with the rest of your classmates in an hour or so when you expected Noritoshi to arrive. You neatly displayed the party plates and flatware on top of the birthday tablecloth adorned dining table and placed the snack platters where they could be accessible to everyone. When the cake was able to be frosted, you worked diligently as time was running out before the man of the hour would show up. With 5 minutes to spare, you were finished. You smiled to yourself, satisfied with all the hard work you and your friends put into this and hoped Noritoshi would appreciate your efforts. You heard a knock at the door and you peeked out the window, relieved to see your classmates. You quickly ushered them in, telling them to be as quiet as possible for when Momo and Noritoshi showed up.
“Not a problem!” said Todo, his voice booming throughout the common room. Mai rolled her eyes and Miwa visibly cringed, Mechamaru placing a gentle hand on her shoulder in an effort to calm her down. It felt like an eternity passed before you heard Momo outside the door.
“…want some lunch? I think there’s some leftovers in the fridge in here.”
You heard the calm voice of Noritoshi speak up and your heart was pounding in your chest from both nerves and excitement.
“Oh. Sure, that sounds like a good idea.”
“After you,” replied Momo, and you were grateful that she was quick thinking to let him in first to not ruin the surprise.
The door handle jiggled.
The door opened.
Darkness greeted them upon entering.
“I’ll get the light,” said Momo, reaching over.
Click.
“Surprise!”
You and your classmates shouted, catching Noritoshi completely off guard. He had no idea where to look first, his mind not comprehending what was going on as the decorations were throwing him for a loop. His brows were knitted in confusion before a look of realization dawned on his face. You walked over to him and handed him a pin with a ribbon that read “It’s Your Birthday!”, little balloons and confetti adorning the trinket.
“This is for you. All of this. Happy birthday.”
He stood there in silence, an unreadable expression on his face as he studied the pin in his hands like it was a test he didn’t prepare for. All of a sudden, he looked up, his eyes taking the chance to meet everyone’s before landing on yours.
“I… I don’t know what to say. I’m just… surprised.”
“It is a surprise party after all,” joked Momo, nudging him in the shoulder. That made him loosen up a bit, his mouth showing the beginnings of a grin. You decided to step in to take some pressure off Noritoshi since you knew he needed time to process everything.
“Well, I was able gather a bunch of games and made snacks so you all can dig in and have fun!”
Your friends didn’t hesitate, embracing this chance to finally let their guards down for a moment and have a good time. You caught Noritoshi’s gaze and tilted your head to the side, a silent invitation to step outside and talk by yourselves for a second.
“I take it this was all your idea?” he mused when you were alone.
“It was,” you said. “You deserve a day where your existence is celebrated. I hope you’re not mad.”
“Mad?” He took a step toward you, resting his hands on your shoulders. “Y/n, I am anything but mad. How could I be upset at a partner who cares so much for me?”
You let out a sigh you didn’t know you were holding, laughing a little. “Good. I don’t know what I would do if I made you uncomfortable. I would feel absolutely awful.”
“Oh no, I am definitely uncomfortable,” he said, stopping you with a raised hand before you could apologize profusely, “but only because I truly don’t think I deserve all this.”
“Oh, my darling,” you started, conviction lacing every word that left your throat, “the Kamo clan received the most brilliant, kind hearted, strong boy on the day you were born, Noritoshi, don’t ever let them make you forget that. You are so special, even beyond your cursed energy or blood manipulation. You’re clever, I love how you always have a solution to any problem I run into. You’re a great listener and your words bring me so much comfort when I crave them. I know I say this all the time but you have such a good heart. You cherish the people you care about and always put them first. You don’t hesitate to help people in need.”
You gently placed your hands over the top of his own. “I’m glad you were born, Noritoshi Kamo. You’re the light of my life and every day I thank the universe for bringing us together.”
A few tears escaped the sides of Noritoshi’s eyes and he looked embarrassed at his display of emotion. Moving fast, you brushed them away with a delicate swipe of your thumb.
“It’s okay, I cry on my birthday a lot too. It’s a very common occurrence for people,” you said, earning a confused look from the black haired man in front of you.
“Really? People cry on their birthdays and still celebrate year after year?” he asked, still sniffing a bit.
“Yeah. I don’t know why, but it happens. So I assure you, you’re being very normal.” You gave him a teasing grin. “For once.”
He scoffed, rolling his eyes. “Way to ruin the heartfelt moment.”
“I can’t have you crying into the cake! It’ll make it soggy. Now, come on, we can’t leave our guests waiting!”
You dragged him back into the common area, your friends relieved that Noritoshi was okay and now smiling. Todo brought over the cake and set it in front of your boyfriend while Momo lit up the candles. When you began to sing “Happy Birthday,” you noticed Noritoshi’s eyes water a bit again but he quickly blinked them away, leaving only joy in his irises.
“Make a wish!” you all exclaimed, catching him off guard.
“This is truly all I could ever want,” he earnestly said.
“That’s so cheesy. Be selfish for once and make a real wish,” chided Mai, only good intentions behind her barbed words. He nodded, looking over every one of you before taking in a big breath and blowing out the candles. Your classmates cheered and you started cutting up the dessert, excited to see if your efforts paid off—they absolutely did. The cake was perfectly moist, the frosting not too sweet. Noritoshi was certainly enjoying it, a subtle smile never leaving his face as he took small bites, savoring the taste. As you took in the scene in front of you, your classmates clearly enjoying their time together, you felt Noritoshi lean in toward you as you ate another bite of cake.
“Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, just… Thank you.”
“You’re absolutely welcome, my birthday boy,” you said, making his cheeks dust with pink at the nickname. He may not have had any good memories of his birthdays in the past, but you hoped from this day forward you could continue making this day one he’d happily remember.
(He kept that birthday ribbon in a box of keepsakes and it made its yearly appearance from then on!)

Doing my usual ritualistic shit with the family 🤣🤣🤣. Will, of course, activate my infinity queue.
Next time y'all see me I'll probably be 30 pounds heavier cos of all the delicious foods and desserts.
We've got arroz con gandules del pais (food grown in the island just hits different), guineos en escabeche, pavo, carne de cerdo, pasteles the yuka y (algunos de carne. We do have "veggie" versions), morsillas (we got a loooot of pounds of blood sausage. Good for my anemia 🤣.)
We've got turrónes de almendra from Spain, we of courses got some Danish butter cookie minies I handed out to relatives yesterday. (My aunt cried when she saw she got those cookies since we rarely see each other due to her job and she just flipped out crying over cookies 😂. I thought I stepped on a landmine but turns out she's so used to getting present for others but not used to getting anything back. Note to self: Get my aunt more presents in the future. She loves sweets. Even if I don't see her I will make sure she gets a present)
We've got tembleque literally put the recipe up cos a lot of non-Boricuas don't know what tembleque is (delicious coconut desert 🤤) and I'd rather people just eat it loooool.
There was homemade flan with coconut but it's all disappeared within half an hour 😔😑. At least I got a serving but that was supposed to be eaten as a family but we just love to cook and eat.
Since I can't drink booze due to my treatment, there's no coquito in the house. I said it was fine since I'm buying alcohol for Luthian's coming of age next month (I already know which alcohols he'll like.) But I guess people feel bad for me and don't want to drink around me. They didn't even bring coquito 😭.
Sad af. They could have brought a virgin coquito. It doesn't need booze 😔. I just really love coconut in my foods.
Okay I rambled way too much.
Hope you guys, if you see this, are loved and held warmly. That you have the best bestest of days with yummy food and loved ones.
If you don't have that, don't be sad. I've had holidays by myself before and always told myself that once I wasn't alone I'd act like it's the most important party ever to make the most of it. (Which explains all the food, presents etc... Its cos I never know when everyone is under the same roof again, getting along and having fun together. I remember spending Christmas night at an AA meeting place. The lady that rented the place for AA was kind to my homeless ass and gave me blankets and Christmas food and place for winter. She also helped me get back on my feet. I swear I've met some truly wonderful people out there just when I needed them and I learned a lot from her and her selfless actions. I might be a mean ass bitch to a lot of people but I do worry for others. More people should be like her. She just did it like part of her nature.)
Ahhh I'm getting teary eyed.
We celebrate things differently over here. I'm not christian, I'm a bruja but I do know of Yeshua's (I prefer that name over "Jesus") energy and he's a very loving and forgiving energy (which makes me appalled sometimes at how many people that claim to follow him don't know that he weeps for them every day... because he sees and feels the world's cruelty down to the marrow of his bones. He still loves unconditionally, but he's in pain. Always in pain.
Okay I'll stop now otherwise I'll turn what I want to be a "neutral post" of celebration into me talking about deity work and channeling as well as history (and how "Christmas trees" are actually a pagan practice. In fact most of Christmas traditions come from pagans.... shhhh... see? I rambled again.)
Anyways.
Happy holidays!!!!!! 🎄 🎄 🎄 🎄
Yes, I totally used an Art The Clown gif in this post. He's one of my fave clowns and he's got a bloody capitalist Santa outfit on. He's perfect 😂🤣. (It was nice to see him getting into the holiday spirit)

Maria von Medon, a noble specializing in Faith magic and a student of the Blue Lions. This unit values connecting with others. Try recruiting her again when you've formed more bonds? (RECRUITMENT REQUIREMENTS: have at least three B supports.)

Came to Fódlan to improve her preexisting skills, learn new ones, and become overall more capable; secretly, she hoped to find her brother again as well.
PERSONAL HISTORY
Year 594 - Princess Maria of Macedon is born, the youngest of three.
Year 598 - King Osmond of Macedon is assassinated, and Michalis succeeds the throne.
Year 600 - Michalis asks Maria to become a hostage to Dohlr; Maria, wanting to protect the people of Macedon and make her brother happy, complies.

Year 607 - Maria is kidnapped by Gharnef while studying magic in Khadein. Later the following year, Prince Marth and his army defeat Medeus and free the captured clerics, Maria among them. She and Minerva stay with Lena at her convent, caring for orphans.
Year 609 - Maria resumes her studies and departs for Fódlan.
INTERESTS. learning new things, exploring, spending time with others LIKES. spending time with loved ones & making friends; making things (like sweet little treats!) (...AKA baking, sewing, embroidering, etc); wyverns, pegasi, and the sky; reading stories and poetry; flowers. DISLIKES. being helpless or a burden on others; eating alone; pitch darkness; so-called 'humor' that relies on tearing people down; arguments, especially those of her siblings. CLOSE ALLIES. Michalis, Minerva, Marth, Tiki ; Soren, Yuri, Chad, Roy (dropped but not forgotten) STATUS. the last princess of Macedon, but one of its first daughters to see a united Archanea
DINING HALL PREFERENCES
LIKES. ( saghert and cream, fish and bean soup, vegetable pasta salad, onion gratin soup, sweet and salty whitefish sauté, sweet bun trio, garreg mach meat pie, pheasant roast with berry sauce, peach sorbet, vegetable stir-fry, derdriu-style fried pheasant ) -- the simple act of sharing a meal with Maria is guaranteed to raise your friendship with her, but these dishes give the biggest boosts
DISLIKES. ( cabbage and herring stew ) -- there's no penalty for making her eat this (and other markedly bitter foods), but the friendship gain is comically low

LOST ITEMS.
TIMEWORN JOURNAL: A well-kept if obviously aged journal, its entries date back many years and are addressed not to itself, but to a person. There are many crude but lovingly rendered drawings within. It probably belongs to someone who's been looking for someone for a very long time. LOCATION: Courtyard
UNFINISHED HANDKERCHIEF: A lovely square of fabric decorated with what seems to be the beginnings of an embroidery project. Looks like... (apple trees/wisteria/sunflowers)? It probably belongs to someone who likes making gifts for others. LOCATION: Blue Lions Classroom
FOREIGN PENDANT: A subtle-yet-elegant pendant of foreign make. Its quality suggests a high degree of nobility; there is a small emblem of a wyvern on the back of it. It probably belongs to someone sentimental. LOCATION: Cathedral
OWNER.
"Oh! This is mine -- I've been looking for it everywhere! Thank you so much!"
NOT OWNER.
"Hmm... This isn't mine, but maybe... have you asked (name)?" *has an increased chance of suggesting the right person the higher her support rank with the item's owner.
MONASTERY QUOTES.
CHOIR PRACTICE.
"The songs of Fódlan are so different from Archanea. It's really neat!"
"Hm hm hm...♫ Hee hee! Isn't singing fun?"

6 STATS UP.
"Hee hee... Maybe one day, I'll catch up to them! Do you think they'll be surprised?"
UPON REACHING LEVEL 99.
"Next time, I'll protect them, too."
UPDATE GOALS.
FAITH.
"Did you know? In Archanea, you have to use staves and tomes to use magic, but in Fódlan you don't need any of that! I don't know if I can bring that kind of magic back home, but if I can help even without a staff, then it's worth a try, isn't it? Trying to keep up with both of them gets a little tough sometimes, though!"
AXE + FLYING.
"My home, Macedon, was known for its wyvern knights -- and my brother and sister were the strongest of all of them! I chose to be a cleric to protect them like they protect me, but... hee hee! Thanks to them, I love the sky."
REASON.
"Axes are so different from magic. Their strengths and weaknesses, their range, the types of foes they're better against... I won't ever be as good with axes as my big brother and sister, but that's okay, isn't it? I'm not them -- I'm their little sister! And I'll always be there to support them!"
BUDDING TALENT.
"Woah... This is new... and exciting! Heeheehee."
NEW SKILL.
"I learned a new trick! Do you want to see?"

THE ADVICE BOX.
I'm really cheerful when I'm with people, but sometimes I worry that makes other people not hear me out at all. Sometimes my siblings just brush me off!
>Start acting differently and maybe they'll change their mind. >Show them through your actions. They'll realize eventually. (correct?) >Stop being small

these are some of my favorite pages so far. it's got really striking graphic design that i feel like really is an inspiration to me
here are some fun (ish) facts i learned today while reading snails & monkey tails: a visual guide to punctuation & symbols!
the abbreviation of pound to lb is because the word libra pondo is where the word for pound comes from and lb is short for libra
this is also why this -> £ is the sign for pound if i understand correctly
the letter w is (was?) an orthographic ligature just like the letter œ or æ
not only that but the ampersand is a ligature of the letters e and t (though you can't really see it anymore) because et was latin for and
the word ampersand comes from the phrase, "and per se and" and it in fact... was originally a mondegreen (not as cool as that jimi hendrix one though)
ampersand in french is esperluette which comes from the phrase "es per lou et" in old french, aka "c'est pour le et" which means "this is for the and"
the ampersand used to kinda be a letter? like it used to be in alphabet songs?
the plus sign is also a simplification of et
an asterisk can be used to signify birth date, as well as the dagger being able to signify death date
a single dagger can be called an obelisk and a double dagger can be called a diesis
the obelisk and asterisk are the origins of the names for the characters astérix and obélix? or maybe they just inspired them? wild
the reason we indent at the beginnings of paragraphs is because originally space was left for people to put a pilcrow to indicate the start of the paragraph but then even after we lost the pilcrow the indent still stays
at sign is the worst word for the thing possible. english is slacking. it's very sad
some of these may have been obvious but i thought they were interesting. also, you should really check out this book the whole "visual guide" thing is super cool. it's a good book.
#i just couldn't say the ''it's a good visual guide'' thing and not show it#because. i think this is one of those less text dense non fiction books that still packs a punch#the other one that comes to mind is yummy: a history of desserts by victoria grace elliot#that one also got a lot of information into the graphic novel format and it also acknowledged topics like racism which was nice#because usually comic books with cute drawings tend to be more on the fluff side in that you don't learn all that much#also they mentioned the islamic golden age which is always appreciated#apparently there's a sequel too. gotta check that out#anyways that's not as important here you guys are here for punctuation not food history. even if both are fun

National Ice Cream Sundae Day
HISTORY OF NATIONAL ICE CREAM SUNDAE DAY
Ice cream sundaes are one of the handfuls of foods that are loved by almost everyone. You might be handling a bowl of delicious right now as you read through this post, but have you ever wondered where this sweet nectar of the gods, a.k.a. sundae came from? How did it get its bizarre and unusual name? Who was the creator of this lovely dessert? We might be able to answer you.
The original ice cream sundae dessert consisted of vanilla ice cream topped with strawberry-flavored sauce, whipped cream, and a maraschino cherry. They were originally served in small glass tulip-shaped vases. This glass then got the name, “sundae glass.” Over the years sundaes took many forms and shapes. They have become one of the most popular desserts in America.
Interestingly, there are several versions of the story of who is the original creator of the sundae. The key players in the list include Two Rivers, Wisconsin, Ithaca, New York, Evanston, Illinois, and Plainfield, Illinois. But according to most people, it was the Two Rivers in Wisconsin that was the original birthplace of Sundae. It was invented by Edward C. Benners, the owner of Berners’ Soda Fountain in 1881. Much like the origin, there are varied stories about how Sundae got its name. One story claims that the name comes from the translation of “Sonntag” which means Sunday in German. Another story says that when Evanston, Illinois passed the Blue Law, restricting soda on Sundays, the town invented the term Sunday Soda, which later turned into ‘sundae’.
But whatever the origin is or whatever the name is, one thing that is absolute is how much we love Sundaes. So, grab your ice cream appetite and enjoy the day!

The Kingdom’s Best Cake Shop!
Never a Dull Moment!
Magical Emergency Handling: The case is officially closed! Almond Cookie: Good work, everyone. I know it’s time to go home, but please… Magical Emergency Handling: Yes, yes, we know. It may be the holidays, but crime doesn’t take holidays. Right? Magical Emergency Handling: Don’t worry about it. I’ll be right back if we get a call! Almond Cookie: Ha ha, I’m grateful to have such a dedicated team. Almond Cookie’s Pager: *beep beep* Magical Emergency Handling: Oh, me and my big mouth! I should keep a sack of salt around… Almond Cookie: No, no, this is… Friendly Text: “Have you heard that the most BRILLIANT wizards in the history of Parfaedia are having the SWEETEST party ever?! You better hurry before the cake is all gone!” Almond Cookie: …A personal call. Almond Cookie: I’ll be off then. Have a good night, folks.
Cream Puff Cookie: Oh, Detective Almond Cookie! Over here! Latte Cookie: Perfect timing! TA-DA! What do you think of this masterpiece?! Almond Cookie: …It’s a cake? Cream Puff Cookie: It’s not just any ordinary cake though! It’s a custom-made cake by the Sugar Gnome Cake Shop! I can’t wait to try it…! Latte Cookie: Do you have any idea how much trouble we went through to get this cake? You know, for a detective, you sure can be clueless sometimes! Almond Cookie: …Please understand that this time of the year can get pretty… hectic. My apologies. Latte Cookie: You’re welcome! It always makes me proud when a student of mine learns something… Ha ha! Almond Cookie: …??? Are you calling me a student- Latte Cookie: Ha ha! Let’s go inside, shall we? Cream Puff Cookie did such an amazing job preparing the place for the part! Prepare to be wowed! Cream Puff Cookie: Eh he he… It wasn’t all me… I couldn’t have done it without the kind professor! Almond Cookie: You organized all of this by yourselves? Cream Puff Cookie: Yep, we decorated with ribbons, cooked a bunch of yummy dishes, and even cast spells so the dishes won’t grow cold! Cream Puff Cookie: I made cute cream puppy decorations and lit candles to make it extra pretty… OH! Latte Cookie: Yes, candles feel much more festive than magical lights… OH!? Almond Cookie: W-what’s the matter with you two?!
Latte Cookie: We forgot to turn off the candles before picking up the cake…! Almond Cookie: WHAT?! And you call yourself a responsible adult?! Cream Puff Cookie: W-what do we do, professor? Latte Cookie: We run! Now! Almond Cookie! Start running! Almond Cookie: Wizards…! It’s like you’re TRYING to create accidents…! Almond Cookie: You call that running?! Where’s the party?! Run faster!
Bound by Cake
Cake Monsters: Huff huff… huff… Red Velvet Cookie: Good work, desserts. You are now officially soldiers of the Cake legion. Cake Monsters: RUFF! Red Velvet Cookie: It is I who command the battlefield. You lot have nothing to worry about. I’m responsible for everything… Poison Mushroom Cookie: Red Velvet Coooookie! Red Velvet Cookie: Poison Mushroom Cookie? Odd to see you here.
Pomegranate Cookie: Poison Mushroom Cookie is here because they followed me. Greetings, Red Velvet Cookie. Pomegranate Cookie: It’s not long until our master’s grand plans finally come to fruition. Truly, a crucial moment for us all… Pomegranate Cookie: And as expected, thankfully, I see that you’re working hard as always. Pomegranate Cookie: Unlike some foolish Cookie who decided to get in line for some cake in such crucial times. Licorice Cookie: I-I was spying on the cake shop! Gathering information! Pomegranate Cookie: Getting in line several times wearing EXACTLY the same disguise can hardly be called… “spying”. Pomegranate Cookie: Admit it! You just wanted to eat cake! The entire Tower of Sweet Chaos is at your disposal, but no! You HAD to get THAT cake! Red Velvet Cookie: I know it was probably just a spur of the moment but these are not for sale or eating.
Licorice Cookie: The disguise was because I need more than one cake! Bat-Cat and Schwarzwälder wanted some too… Pomegranate Cookie: If you could put half the effort you aim towards those fools into the master’s grand plans…! Red Velvet Cookie: You two, take it outside. Licorice Cookie: What are you saying?! I give 100% and more to Dark Enchantress Cookie! Red Velvet Cookie: It’s like talking to a wall… Poison Mushroom Cookie: Lookie lookie, Red Velvet Cookie! Red Velvet Cookie: It’s a cake. Do you want me to cut you a piece? Poison Mushroom Cookie: Make me a friend, please! Red Velvet Cookie: A friend? Ah. You mean a Cake Hound. I’m afraid I can’t do that. Only cakes born in this very oven here and my sword can… Poison Mushroom Cookie: No… friends…? But I have lots… of shroomies… Red Velvet Cookie: …You know Cookies that will have that cake with you though. Poison Mushroom Cookie: With… me…? Red Velvet Cookie: Yes. You have me, and those two squabbling over there as well.
Red Velvet Cookie: Here, I cut it up evenly. Go get them. Poison Mushroom Cookie: But Pomegranate Cookie… angry… I’m scared…! Red Velvet Cookie: She won’t listen to me but she will listen to you. Go…! Poison Mushroom Cookie: Hmm… Licorice Cookie: …But I-I’m good at my job, you know! Pomegranate Cookie: That’s what YOU think! Poison Mushroom Cookie: …Pomegranate Cookie, Licorice Cookie! Pomegranate Cookie: …! Licorice Cookie: …Yes, quite right! Poison Mushroom Cookie: Let’s go have cake…! Red Velvet Cookie has cut it for us! Pomegranate Cookie: Sigh… Yes. It seems that I have gotten myself overworked over something so trivial. Licorice Cookie: A-Ahem! Took the words right out of my mouth! You should thank Poison Mushroom Cookie for stopping me! Red Velvet Cookie: Ah, you’re all here. Here’s your piece. If you don’t take it, these Cake Hounds are more than happy to take it off your hands. Licorice Cookie: Huh?! Wait… WAIT! That’s MY cake! I didn’t bring it all the way here to share with you! UGH… Poison Mushroom Cookie: He he he… So lively… Poison Mushroom Cookie: So warm, my spores… Huuh…? You think so too? He he…
Super Cake Mayhem
Twizzly Gummy Cookie: Hey! Where is everyone?
Twizzly Gummy Cookie: Zap it up and come out right now! I brought cake! Wild Strawberry Cookie: Cake? Wild Strawberry Cookie: …You didn’t have to steal it? Twizzly Gummy Cookie: Ha ha ha… In this dimension, everyone can have as much cake as they want. I’m not gonna miss out on having cake! Toothpaste Cookie: Pfft, so you actually stood in line, ordered this gigantic cake, and PAID for it? Is that what you’re saying? Oyster Cookie: The invitation to the year-end ball. You’ve received one, yes? Captain Caviar Cookie: Oh, that one. The one with the fancy envelope and one single sentence? Republic Sailor Cookie 1: Err… are we allowed to listen to this…? Captain Caviar Cookie: If it’s important, let’s head to my quarters. But first… Captain Caviar Cookie: You don’t mind me sharing this cake with my crew, do you? If you want a piece, feel free to sit anywhere on the deck. Republic Sailor Cookie 1: On the deck?! But she’s from House Oyster! Oyster Cookie: How kind of you to think so highly of me! Oyster Cookie: Oh, I recognize that box. It must be from the Sugar Gnomes’ Cake shop, yes? The wonderful helpers who build magnificent buildings? Republic Sailor Cookie 2: Oh? She’s sitting down! Oyster Cookie: I was wondering if it was worth getting in line… What a perfect opportunity. Since you offered, I’d love to have one. Thank you very much. Captain Caviar Cookie: Ha! Thought so. My crew comes first, so don’t think of having seconds!
Captain Caviar Cookie: You all heard that, right? Who wants cake? It’s now or never! Salty Shark Crew: Aye, aye!

Have you ever had dinner but thought hmmm I wish it was yellow? Like I wish I had yellow dinner instead of just dinner? Well this is a recipe for yellow dinner traditionally celebrated on the date of yellow dinner, February 4. This is a tasty and yummy dinner that is yellow. You can make it too! It’s yellow.
Yellow dinner has a rich history. Dinner is yellow on yellow dinner to symbolize the yellow dinner. You can enjoy it with other yellow things also! Like items and decorations that are yellow. This is very popular to have around on yellow dinner.
When I was a child, my family didn’t have yellow dinner. This was cruel. But now I know how to make yellow dinner. And you can too!
I first heard about yellow dinner from my friend Heather. Heather’s friend Raegan invented yellow dinner. I really liked the concept of a dinner but its yellow, so I continued the tradition. You can also make other colors of dinner, but this dinner is yellow. I like yellow dinner the best. There are so many fun things you can have with it, like yellow sides! Like corn or saffron rice. Because those are foods that are yellow. Or yellow corn bread or also yellow potatoes or maybe yellow squash.
Be sure to wash it down with a yellow beverage! Like lemonade or golden milk. And also have yellow dinner with yellow dessert! Like a dessert that is also yellow color!
~ Yellow Dinner ~
1 Whole Skinless Chicken Breast (Halved Lengthwise and Cubed)
1/2 Yellow Onion (Roughly Chopped)
1 Yellow Bell Pepper (Roughly Chopped)
1 Inch Ginger (Chopped)
5 Cloves Garlic (Chopped)
2 Tsp Turmeric Powder
1 Tsp Cumin Powder
1/4-1/2 Tsp Kashmiri Chili Powder, if desired
2 Pinches of Asafoetida, if desired
Salt & Black Pepper, to taste
Some Chicken Stock, to deglaze
1. Salt the chicken, then mix the spices together and massage them in; marinate this with some olive oil if desired.
2. Add olive oil to a cast iron skillet, dutch oven, heavy bottomed pan, etc. Briefly fry garlic and ginger until aromatic; don’t let them brown. Add the onion and fry.
3. Add chicken, and cook it through. Halfway through cooking the chicken, add the bell pepper. Once chicken is nearly done, deglaze pan with a splash of chicken stock. Not too much or else it will become brown. Maybe on another occasion that is ok but this is yellow dinner.
4. Serve immediately with yellow sides and a yellow drink.

☁ BIRTHDAY EVENT ☁
Amelia had never expected that she would debut, let alone be asked to make her own dessert and drink for her birthday event. The entire thing seemed silly, but it was a silly that she could get on board with. Did she even have fans? She doubted she was popular enough to even hold her own birthday event and yet here she was preparing for such a thing.
When she'd first been told about the special event, Amelia was excited. She'd always wanted to have her own special event and this was the perfect way to have that. Since her birthday month was nearing, Amelia had been asked to record her own vlog where she is creating her own birthday menu. The entire experience sounded fun and Amelia was eager to start.
Arriving at Legacy's kitchen, Amelia had met with the chef that would be helping her. They spoke a little about her and her past to try and get some ideas. That's when she had an idea to mix her Chinese and Australian history together since both were a major aspect of who she was as a person.
When it finally came to recording, Amelia was excited to show everyone what they had come up with. She greeted the viewers with a bright smile and began introducing her menu.
❛ Hello everyone! I'm Amelia Zheng and I'm a model. I'm here to introduce you all to my special birthday menu that you'll get to try if you come to the Legacy cafe during my birthday. ❜ Amelia winked before she continued. ❛ As some of you know, I have a lot of international history. I was born in China but I grew up in Australia and now I live in Korea. So what I wanted to do was mix my Chinese heritage with my Australian upbringing and so I bring you a fusion dessert and drink that I hope you'll enjoy! ❜ Amelia smiled.
She then held up the dessert she'd made and introduced it to everyone. ❛ This is what I call PavTang. It is a mini pavlova topped with fruits and whipped cream that is accompanied by two Tanghulu Hawthorn sticks. The Bing Tanghulu Hawthorn stick is the Chinese version of the candy apple and it's made by dipping hawthorn berries into hot sugar syrup that hardens. I added the icing sugar for extra sweetness flavour. The pavlova is a very famous and popular Australian dessert that is made with meringue and fruits. I hope you'll like it! I've tried it and it's delicious but you could say that I'm biased, ❜ she winked playfully with a giggle.
She then moved onto the drink. ❛ The drink was a little harder for me to decide on because I had so many ideas! But I eventually settled on something that I love. The drink isn't a fusion and it's just a regular drink but it's still yummy let me tell you. ❜ She smiled. ❛ This is my drink and I call it Green Getaway. It's basically just a hot green tea latte topped with whipped cream and a cherry. I enjoy green tea lattes and so I added whipped cream one day to see what it would be like and I was blown away. I can't have it without whipped cream now. The cherry is just for aesthetic purposes. ❜ Amelia grinned.
❛ Those were what I made for my birthday menu. I hope you'll like it as much as I do. Please let me know your reviews as I'd love to hear what you guys think! ❜

National Cheesecake Day
Berry, chocolate, just plain cheesecake…whatever your favorite, try making it yourself or visit a bakery or restaurant to enjoy this sweet, cheesy treat.
National Cheesecake Day is one of the creamiest days of the year! It’s a day to indulge in the decadence of this dessert, and sample some of the tastiest flavors. From the humble plain baked to the tangy key lime or maybe a chocolate one would hit the spot. Whatever grabs that sweet tooth it is certain that today is the day for some cheesecake!
History of National Cheesecake Day
Although the original National Cheesecake Day was conceived and first celebrated in 1985, it didn’t really take off until 2001 when the power of the internet helped its cause. It then gained traction and became a sensation that is now celebrated all over the world!
Dating back to its invention by the Ancient Greeks, probably around 200 A.D., cheesecake was believed to have been one of the first “sweet” desserts in the world. Or at least, it was one of the first to be written down! In its earlier time, this dish was originally made from a soft cheese but was probably very different from what we now know as cheesecake.
Over the centuries, cheesecake moved around the world and popped up as different expressions in different regions. For instance, cheesecake in Italy is traditionally made with their favorite, ricotta cheese. Cheesecakes in Germany and Poland are often made with a special kind of soft cheese called “quark”. And, of course, American cheesecake uses its own home invention: cream cheese.
But no matter the variation, cheesecake is a tasty invention that has developed and evolved over time into something that almost everyone in the world loves to eat!
How to Celebrate National Cheesecake Day
Celebrating National Cheesecake Day is super easy! Just eat, bake and enjoy cheesecake of any variety. Try these ideas for getting creative with celebrating the day:
Eat Some Cheesecake
The most obvious way to celebrate is to grab a piece to-go, pick up a whole cheesecake at a bakery and take it to the office to share, or even get a boxed mix and make an easy refrigerator cheesecake at home. No matter how it’s done the most important thing on this day is to somehow, some way, get cheesecake into that belly!
Make a Cheesecake
Depending on the recipe chosen, making cheesecake can either be simple or a little bit fussy. A true cheesecake recipe will be made from ingredients such as cream cheese, sour cream, and eggs, then baked in the oven for about an hour or more. It is important to bake it slowly on a low temperature to keep it from cracking. This is the way cheesecake is made at a bakery or at a specially themed restaurant such as The Cheesecake Factory.
Some simpler versions of cheesecake recipes are no-bake, which instead use the refrigerator to get cream cheese, whipping cream or other ingredients to set up into a dessert. These recipes typically do not include eggs as the cake is not baked. But they are still deliciously tasty!
Get Creative with Cheesecake Recipes
A slice of classic, New York style cheesecake is nothing to complain about! But some people like to mix things up a bit and get more creative with the way they make their cheesecakes. Try these unique styles of cheesecake for fun, or make up your own:
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cheesecake. Enjoy the fun of this classic American cookie alongside the beauty of a delectable cheesecake! It includes actual chocolate chip cookie dough in the batter, and is topped with actual chocolate chip cookies.
Chocolate Covered Strawberry Cheesecake. A tasty strawberry flavored cheesecake is poured into a graham cracker crust, then finished off with a chocolate ganache topping reminiscent of chocolate covered strawberries. It’s a dessert-lover’s dream.
Nutter Butter Peanut Butter Cheesecake. Another American favorite, peanut butter and Nutter Butter cookies are included in this recipe that is baked and then topped with a yummy peanut butter sauce and then garnished with peanut butter cookies.
Cannoli Cheesecake. Channel that inner Italian baker with this yummy recipe that embraces ricotta and mascarpone cheeses on a graham cracker crust and is topped with mini chocolate chips.
Host a Cheesecake Gathering
While friends, family and neighbors can be invited, the guest of honor at this particular event must be the venerable Cheesecake! Get a bunch of folks together for this day and have a few different people bring a plain cheesecake each. Ask some others to bring along some toppings for a toppings bar, and then get to eating!
For a cheesecake toppings bar, include different fruit, candy or sauce options that people with different preferences might like to try. Canned pie fillings make easy and tasty toppings in cherry, strawberry or blueberry. Fresh strawberries or mandarin oranges are also a great idea.
Sauces for the cheesecake toppings bar can include chocolate, caramel or peanut butter. Add some dishes filled with nuts such as pecans, peanuts or slivered almonds. Some toasted coconut would also make a lovely addition.
And don’t forget candies such as chocolate chunks, ice cream sprinkles, pieces of snickers bars or even gummy bears. The options are basically endless!
Head to New York for Some Cheesecake
Maybe it’s not the actual place of origin for cheesecake, but New Yorkers would argue that it’s the only place to get a real slice of the good stuff! This style of pure cheesecake, with no fancy ingredients, became popular in New York in the early 1900s and the recipes really have not changed much since then.
In order to get access to the best cheesecakes in New York, it will likely be necessary to visit a few different bakeries or restaurants, including:
Veniero’s Paticceria and Cafe. An authentic Italian Bakery located in the East Village since 1894, this bakery does the New York cheesecake just perfectly.
Junior’s Restaurant. Since 1950, Junior’s Restaurant has been making cheesecakes at the same family owned location in Brooklyn. It’s now a chain with storefronts in a few other locations throughout the NYC area.
Eileen’s Special Cheesecake. In business for more than 45 years, this bakery began with a recipe that was passed down by Eileen’s mom. Her Nolita location offers at least 20 flavors but, of course, the classic New York style is always on offer.
La Cheesecake Bake Shop. Aptly named, this takeout counter in Queens has been offering “light as air” cheesecakes, along with other delicious baked goods, since 1985.
