I like the personality in the designs of the bethrothal necklaces we see. Just from a visual standpoint, they're neat.

Yue's is very clearly a visualization of that pond with Tui and La circling each other. (It honestly makes me think Hahn didn't make it himself, because he doesn't seem interested enough in Yue as a person to draw on that connection?)

Kanna's is this depiction of the rolling waves of the ocean curling back? (Because Pakku saw her as a free spirit? As an embodiment of the deep, sprawling, uncontainable ocean itself? idk)

Bolin's is. A skull. (Because... well I don't think need to analyze this too deeply, Eska is Eska)

Kya II's necklace does have a similar build to the one Eska gave Bolin, so I can see where the theory that it is a betrothal necklace too comes from. I wonder what the teal crescent moon represents in whoever made it for her.

I just really, really wish we got the see the betrothal necklace that Kuruk gave to Ummi. Has it really never been shown or am I tripping?

i was thinking about when kya was bloodbending to save lin and su (and i might’ve accidentally missed it) but i don’t think it was a full moon? i know it was raining during lin and jia yi’s fight and that waterbenders get a little power boost during the rain but still. kya is literally so powerful and i love it

Hi, I have been waiting to hear from you in my inbox : )

In the final fight I purposely didn't draw attention to the moon because, and I explained this briefly in response to a comment on AO3, it wasn't about Kya. It wasn't about her power, but rather the effect her betrayal had on Lin. Earlier in the story Lin's internal monolog explains how she understands firebending forms better than she does air or water, because its fueled by anger and emotion. The struggles she faces throughout the story culminate into her final display of strength, a display that is catalyzed by Kya's betrayal.

Now, as for what I would say the moon phase was.... waning gibbous. Because the waning gibbous goes into the full moon, but it itself isn't full. So it could be said that this near-full moon, and the rain contributed to Kya's power but... to be honest, Kya is just that girl. She can bloodbend no matter the state of the sky.

I thought it helped paralell Kya to Amon, and make Lin see her worst enemy in "a new light" if that makes sense. Additionally, I kind of drew from ATLA in this respect: Lin loves Kya more than she fears bloodbending, and for someone who has forgotten how to love, that's a pretty big deal.

So yeah, the moon isn't full, and if they weren't so busy trying to stay alive, someone would have absolutely mentioned it, or marveled at it. Its a detail that made Kya all that more desireable to the United Front. They remember how Amon nearly destroyed the Avatar, and the idea was that these "combined" forces would be enough to take the Earth Empire once and for all.

I don't have a lot of informations for now and I'm too tired to draw, so hopefully I will write about it one day... So that's what I have for now :

Basically, it would be a different version of the earth avatar, and instead of a post-apocalyptic world, it would be a society like in the 1950-60s.

Avatar Korra died at something like 50yo, after an era of peace. But it took more than a decade for the White Lotus to announce that had found the new avatar. Little did they know they were wrong.

The (real) new avatar is Kassim, a 25yo fresh-out-of-school doctor. He's a sandbender but doesn't master normal earth, like other benders, or even metal or lava, so he's often depreciated because "Sandbending isn't a real bending", as they say (and being from the Si Won desert doesn't help.)

Kassim moved to Ba Sing Se for it's medecin course, and here, he learned by himself bonebending, which helps him a lot in his work (but he doesn't say it, it freaks out people bc it reminds them of bloodbending). He hates to fight, he's a natural healer.

He doesn't know he's the avatar, but he has his guesses since Korra's ghost haunts him. (They can't stand each other, Korra thinks he's the most useless avatar who ever existed (she's isn't completely wrong tho) and Kassim hates that he sees Korra more than his own mother.)

The plot starts when Kassim heads to the Capital of the Fire Nation for the elections of the first president of the Fire Nation. The government organized a gala to celebrate this event, with every important people in the world, including the White Lotus and the (wrong) avatar. Even though Kassim is to ordinary to be invited, he's curious.

Little did he know meeting the White Lotus would be a bad idea.

(Also, in this AU, Aang was a good father, Bumi II never became an airbender bc it ruins his arc, Katara has her statue too and the Gaang has been unofficially canonized) (and we will see Suki and Yue) (And, Mako, Wu, Rohan and the Red Lotus)
