Just Dance Care AU!

Ok ok so I thought of a story for this Au but it’s nothing really impactful or full of drama and angst like my other au’s, I wanted to leave this au easy and fun to play around, because, let’s say it. Just Dance and drama in the same sentence makes me laugh.

(I gave up on Y/n design because I couldn't figure out a general look for them. This is you we are talking about! Draw your own JD fit, I'll draw mine soon XD)

Anyway here’s the story so far: 

Year 2029, videogames industry made a huge step forward and classic consoles and devices were substituted by the new and upgraded VR headsets with full body tracking. It’s something like the NerveGear in Sword Art Online without the kill switch. Some games still require you to actually move your body (like fitness games or sports because yeah, they don’t have a purpose otherwise). 

Y/n wanted to buy the newest VR headset but, while searching for the best offer, they found out FazCo entertainment was hosting a giveaway, the prize? One of their prototypes, a VR meant to be released the next year coinciding with the opening of their first mega pizza plex.

(so the plex doesn’t exist right now). You decide to sign up for the giveaway and after a while you receive an email telling you you won the VR headset and that, to claim it, you need to read and sign a series of NDA policies (understandable, it’s a prototype headset that’s not even in commerce). Some clauses are a little bit concerning but nothing you hadn’t read on other electronics booklets, so you decide to sign. After, like, a day, you have the VR in your hands. 

The box let you know with super saturated and colorful writing, that the VR came with a game pre-installed inside. Uh, that’s why they were giving one away, they wanted a free game tester…but you know what, it’s worth it.

You always liked Just Dance games, they make you think about happy memories of your childhood. This pre-installed game called “Five Dances at Freddy’s” is a close copy of your childhood game with original FazCo songs, characters, environments and also some collaborations with other famous artists. It probably will be the cause of a big copyright infringement report.

There are various ways to play it: story mode, Casual dance, Five Dances, and Just Dance Care.

The first one is similar to the casual dance mode but with little cutscenes between a dance and another to tell a tale, Casual dance is how you can play the collab songs, Five Dances is the multiplayer mode and Just Dance Care is a more uhhhh “hard” way to play the game with all the other modes mixed in it. You stare at the description of the last mode smirking and decide to try it first just to see how far you can get before losing (yes you can lose in hard mode in this Just Dance, but you don’t die, you just have to restart from the beginning). Turns out the FazCo wasn’t kidding when they advertised the new headset as a breakthrough in the world of virtual reality headsets, the thing TRANSPORTED you inside the game itself. 

You almost have a heart attack when you can’t find your VR on your head, but before you can try something you are blocked by two tall individuals who you think are the “tutorial” characters. 

Yadda yadda, tutorial, you can pause the game and exit whenever you need just by opening an hidden menu, you find out your tutorial characters are called Sun and Moon and that you are way worse than you remembered at dancing (damn full body tracking, there is no way you are going to do a cartwheel in the middle of a dance, you still don’t know if your body is inside your home and if you’ll physically feel pain if you fall and you don’t want to find out).

You pass an embarrassingly long time trying to win your first dance battle just to discover it was still the tutorial. 

You try to go on with the story but you fail at the first real battle with a bear character named Freddy. 

And guess what? You have to start again from the tutorial! Y/n is gonna spend A LOT of time with Sun and Moon if this goes on.

-you were in the gas station, stopping by to grab something quick to drink

-as soon as he laid eyes on you he was pretty much in love

-he loved the way you looked

-people often told him his eyes were something you could get lost in

-but man, they didn’t meet you

-he immediately started hitting on you

-and when you reacted a bit startled and unsure of what to do

-he was like okayyyyy won’t do that again

-but over time his comments made you smile more and more

-until you somehow managed to say yes to a date with him

Darry Curtis

-he was walking to the store to pick up things for breakfast

-when you walked past

-no one else was out this early in the morning, everyone was inside having breakfast or sleeping in late

-but you were strolling through for whatever reason

-and you turned his head

-he noticed the subtle way you flinched

-when he tried calling you for your attention

-and when he finally looked at you he thought you were surely one of the most pretty broads he had ever seen

-something so mysterious yet beautiful, scared yet brave

-he does most of the talking for you, and yall are very cute together

-he’s so overprotective

Dallas Winston

-he was smoking in an alleyway when he saw you

-he whistled at you, and you flinched as he continued with some remarks

-“Well that’s a damn fine broad if I ever saw one”

-you seem uncomfortable

-“C-can you please stop?”

-you say, not much louder than a mouse, flashing him those big, scared, haunting eyes of yours

-it hit him like a bus

-and he did stop

-less out of respect and more out of shock but whatever

-later he approached you still with a cocky grin, but a less… asshole attitude

-you didn’t like him at first

-but he learned to have a soft spot for you just like Johnny

-you guys are so cute, and he’s super protective over you like Darry and Tim

Two Bit Mathews

-when he first met you

-he made a shit ton of jokes what do you expect

-“Damn, Dolly, how do you fit those eyes on your face?”

-“I bet you have some 20/20 vision with those telescopes.”

-“My sister has a porcelain doll just like you.”

-and at first you were a bit uncomfortable

-but shyly started cracking a small grin at his quips

-which boosted his fucking ego my guy

-made it skyscraper high

-you guys are cute together tho

-you always be there to silently giggle at his jokes

-it was his shift at the gas station instead of sodapops

-and when he saw you he was like whoa

10. What's an AU that would be interesting to explore with your OC?

Needless I went off the rails with this one! LMAO

This became an excuse to draw Celarthur/Merthur content in different scenarios & and outfits. And I had too much fun with the designs of each one.

Sun King & Moon Queen AU:

Basically, I was watching Lego Monkey Kid and this happened! I really wanted to do something that really got the essence of the show. If you watch the show you can really tell I kinda (or a lot) based it around the Lady Bone Demon & Sun Wukong. And of course some classic Chinese folklore...

It is a total rom-com scenario, with the Moon Queen betrothed to the Sun King... they but heads at first then slowly but surely fall in love.

Sleeping Beauty/ Fairy Tale AU:

This one was really made for young Sir Arthur & Celestine... I couldn't help it guys it was such a classic movie. Malfience icon (she's definitely be Morgan in this Au).

Especially when I was looking for dancing references I kept looking at the sleeping beauty reference dance sequence the most. (for a project to be revealed later still a secret) So I had to give a shoutout to that of course, love how it turned out!

Super Paper Mario Au:

I think this one is my favorite one I always got emotional for Count Bleck & Tippi's backstory. Their love story is quite similar to theirs....they just fit the characters so well.

In all honesty, if Sir Arthur didn't have Meta to ground him... then he definitely would have become like "Count Bleck." Oh but just like Tippi Celestine would still love and forgive Arthur anyways.

And here is an Au relevant to the plot of KBASW... I did wanna draw out more scenarios relevant to the plot of KBASW but then they kept leaking out to spoiler-ish territory.

Next Scenario Happy Ending Route. (Basically, Celestine & Arthur are running the GSA and this is a daily occurrence~)

They still have to wait for...(Kirby is lost for a while and is found by Meta and of course baby imprints on him and he's still Meta's) They become this obnoxiously flirty-loving couple... MK's seen this since he was a kid so he's desensitized. They do get work done I promise ~ (LMAO)

~

This is where Celestine finds a cure for her " broken warp star" situation. They basically gave Gala the same isolation treatment (because he was supposed to be the galaxy's savior~). But Celty (secretly visits him as often as she can to ensure he isn't lonely.

After this time Celestine finds Meta in the Fountain of Dreams (before anyone could find him). The Ancients were so preoccupied with Gala that they weren't even montioring the fountain.

Basically, no one knew that Meta Knight was born but Celestine & Arthur. He's raised in secret at the temple. (They make a cute little family together ~) And Celestine would set up secret little play dates for the both of them.

A few years passed and then BOOM!

They manage to catch Icarus in his crimes for "forcibly creating another astral from Void." (Kirby was always going to be made but he came out too early due to Icarus' involvement.)

Morpho still takes his life but they manage to trace it back to Uther... The people are now questioning the Acients in their decisions and soon fall out of power due to the controversy. To save face they crystalize Sir Uther... (HA) but that doesn't help them at all~

It was during this time that Celestine properly revealed herself as Merlyn... WHAT!? Another blunder blew up in their faces...and the people immediately began to rally behind her. The popularity of her good deeds as Merlyn is what gets her into the seat of power.

Leaving Celestine in charge of the GSA (finally left in the right hands!) And of course, she takes Arthur with her as her right-hand man and well I think the GSA would become more of a light-hearted place after that.

(Morgan leaves, she doesn't fit into this hippie-dippy-happy place but she's not evil per se... she kinda just travels around as she pleases and she does find her happiness being a wanderer.)

Nightmare is still a problem but Nightmare Enterprise is never created, so it's not as widespread. So it's managed and the galaxy is thriving under Celestine's control. And of course, Arthur & Celestine confess their feeling for each other yada yada yada....

And of course, Kirby defeats Nightmare and that's it~

Despite this happy ending Meta Knight never meets Jecra & Garlude as a result of this. Along with Kirby never going to Dreamland or meeting everyone; Fumu, the cappies, no nothing. And the need for Star Allies no longer exists.

Oh man, my Archivists, it's been a while since I've visited them, let me see what I remember/saved So first off, my Archivists designs are overall based on the paintings we saw in the show, particularly this one

I used the hats to pick what each of them would be designed after, with Extravaganza's design taking after a sun since suns are stars, just to make him more unique/separate from the other star character, which ended up being Crawlies

This is more a really good coincidence, but I only found these paintings after I'd designed Extravaganza and Blind Spot (all's well that ends well I suppose haha)

The Archivists, despite being siblings, are very detached from each another. Their relationship is more of a co-worker type of thing than anything. They don't hate one another, but they wouldn't really care if one got stranded (cough cough)

Here's some little trivia about them individually (with a couple doodles to boot)

Extravaganza (sun guy):

-Extravaganza was the first one I designed, so one of his "fun facts" is that his nose always faces right. This kinda ended up not being unique to him since it also happened with Blind Spot (moon gal)

-He gets jealous easily. He wants to hoard all that's "unique", so whenever his siblings get something he likes he'll try to get it out of their hands very aggressively. This jealousy sometimes extends to things that are inherent to his siblings like Prevalent's rings

-Because he tends to reject normalcy, he can kinda be like Crawlies in the sense he might move creepily or weirdly. Even in human form, he tends to rotate his head the same way he does in his "abstract" form

-He loves being the center of attention. When the titan war happened, he took on the biggest and brightest form he could, making a spectacle of himself (and continuously getting injured by Titans like an idiot)

Blind Spot (moon gal)

-Her hair was made to resemble a waterfall in abstract form and a cloud in human form. I could argue this is because the sound of water and the cotton-like sensation we picture clouds having fit with her collection's theme but if I'm being honest I just thought it looked neat

-The reason she keeps her eyes closed is because she thinks the comfort that comes from an object/creature is "ruined" if you know what it looks like, since now that you know its appearance, it is all you will think about when you touch it or hear it instead of fully focusing on the sensations

-She has a very calm demeanor, but she's easy to anger. Her coldness makes it easy for her to approach other creatures and evaluate whether she wants them in her collection or not

-She's one of the more dangerous Archivists. If something she finds is not to her liking, she is more prone to opening her eyes. Once she's seen something, she WILL deem it as worthless and destroy it unless one of her siblings has already claimed they want it

-When the Titan war happened, she had her eyes open the entire time

Crawlies (red star guy)

-I decided to base him on a cold star, hence why he's almost completely red (that day I learned the colder the star the warmer the color. Wack)

-Very sneaky guy. Able to slip through undetected almost all the time

-The way I designed his face is so he can have "two noses" and you never really know which is the actual nose, if he has any. This unfortunately didn't translate to his human form

Prevalent (Ringed Planet/Saturn guy)

-They're the only Archivist that went through different names before I could land on one. These names were Pebbles, Commonplace, Trivial and Stamps. Pebbles and Stamps were considered because rocks and stamps are some of the most common collections people tend to make

-Actually on that note they absolutely have a rock collection

-Their eyes look Like That because of being based on a ringed planet. The triangles on their left are also surrogate eyelashes for their left eye, but I couldn't figure out how to translate it to their human form

-They usually get to decide where to go next once they're done with whatever planet they're visiting at the moment

it was my birthday yesterday: predicting my 23rd year based on my solar return chart

i think this is fun to do, so feel free to comment or reblog what you think will happen this year to me based on my chart, while i make my own predictions for my solar return chart. feel free to treat this as a solar return observation post! perhaps next year i will come back and see if my predictions were correct!

first things first i have to point out this is a 2023/2024 chart i always get funny looks for this but hi i turned 23 on october 27th, 2023 (this year my solar return starts the 28th because of the eclipse - i suspect) why would i look at a 2024 solar return that takes place october 27th, 2024 - i would be 24 then? so from this point on EVEN WHEN WE ARE IN 2024 i will be referring to the 2023 chart for the solar return year. make sure you verify your stuff before looking at your solars.

1H IN LIBRA AT 12° (contains: scorpio sun and narcissus (37117))

prediction: there is likely to be a relational focus this year and with venus (the house ruler) in the 12h it is likely to be with myself (what us my relationship with my self? how can i better treat myself? etc). my diplomacy skills are likely not going to be the best as i look at the 10h/11h, what is sitting in those houses, and that pisces degree on my 1h... with my scorpio sun present in the house, it is likely that it will be obvious that i trust no one this year (people may suspect that i only trust myself - they could feel as though i look down on them or think little of them). my sun is opposite my moon so i might feel a bit disconnected from myself... with my sun in the 1h, i will likely have a super intense vibe (not that i don't already) but in a way that seems like magnetism because it is a libra 1h? like drawing others in? i do feel like this year is going to be the sort where i am discovering who i am and who i want to be (i just have to make sure it doesn't get out of hand with the sun and narcissus (especially with his conjunction to my sun, mercury, and mars) present).

2H IN SCORPIO AT 9° (contains: scorpio mercury, mars, and kassandra (114) AND sagittarius educatio (2440) and pythia (432))

prediction: what an interesting mix of stuff i have here... money makes the world go round this year i guess. my mercury is at 9° and my mars is at 11° - can i just cry a little...? bro wtf is bitcoin and why do i feel like i am gonna get into the world of online investing...? the coupling of these two planets (especially mars as the 2h ruler) makes me feel as though i will be making money and spending it or moving it relatively quick so that i can't use it? i say "i can't use it" because my mars opposes jupiter which makes me think of compounding interest like a CD... anywho, i am a money wizard? i have kassandra and pythia here, so i feel like i will probably make investments and use my money in unexpected ways (kassandra makes me think of emergency funds OR bad financial contracts though). i also have educatio here so at least i will be learning more about financial literacy plus i do think with mercury i will be extremely interested in learning more about finances. and with mars... it might just become a new passion of mine... aside from money, while i am likely to continue a lot of giving and receiving of knowledge this next year on social media (mercury things), there is a danger to the realm of social media... ESPECIALLY with mars present and both mercury and mars conjunct my sun then all three opposing jupiter... my self worth could take a hit which i do not look forward to.

3H IN SAGITTARIUS AT 10° (contains: sagittarius ambrosia (193), asclepius (4581), cupido (763), jormungandr (471926) rx, lev tolstoj (2810), and zeus (5731) AND capricorn aphrodite (1388) and chekhov (2369))

prediction: sagittarius and 10° for the 3h is giving "it's all fun and games until someone says/mentions ____". i have to be mindful of my mouth because while i am likely to make people feel alive with my words given ambrosia and asclepius in this house, i also have chekhov (where you want simplicity but receive drama), aphrodite, and jormungandr (where people try to end you - aka getting socially outcasted/cancelled) in the 3h... but lev tolstoj is here too so whatever i am saying that offends others or makes them mad is facts even though there is drama/gossip involved when i do say these things... the dangers of social media part 2? i feel like it may be romantic drama because zeus (i am not a zeus person because there are no aspects to the sun or asc - only a square is made from this asteroid to my venus), cupido, and aphrodite (and for aphrodite there are no aspects made to my inner planets this solar return - so it is definitely not me doing something sus like cheating) are here in the house too. i do have my suspicions as to what is happening already... and oh shiiii will it hurt because 10° is always a bit painful in my opinion. especially with the house ruler in the 8h... it just looks like emotional damage...

4H IN CAPRICORN AT 14° (contains: capricorn pluto, balder (4059), and bellerophon (1808)

prediction: a lot of my astro friends who see this chart are like "oh are you moving?" and i am like ABSOLUTELY NOT. like i literally just moved so no. unfortunately (i hate to be this person) i do believe a beloved family member (4h balder conjunct pluto and square moon) will be passing this year. even more unfortunate - i do not think it will be an easy death with bellerophon present because he was thrown from pegasus... and not to be super disgusting, but i do believe i will inherit something expensive and very material given the earthy grand trine formed by pluto, venus, and uranus. that being said i feel like i might neglect my mental health because pluto squares my moon - i might stopping going to therapy (currently i see a therapist regarding my childhood ptsd). i might regress into people pleasing behaviors because it is all that i will be able to control if someone in my family passes... which is not the healthiest for me.

5H IN AQUARIUS AT 17° (contains: pisces saturn, amor (1221) rx, and karma (3811))

prediction: this seems like a good mix for me achieving something big with writing/blogging. especially because saturn is the traditional ruler of aquarius and capricorn (which is home - the work i do from home, a side hustle). my outlook for romance is not too good with amor in retrograde in this house nor with freedom loving aquarius ruling this house. not to mention i feel like the world will be showing me something that will cause me to have a grudge against love (saturn) and karma will be dished out. this could also be a sign that my childhood trauma could be triggered again with saturn in the 5h too (great).

6H IN PISCES AT 17° (contains: pisces neptune rx, AND aries heracles (5143) rx and salacia (120347) rx)

prediction: i appreciate the that neptune is retrograde in this pisces house... last thing i wanted was for my health, routine, or hygiene to be confusing/frustrating, avoided, or to constantly be behind / running late / neglected. so this is fine by me. i might be obsessive with scheduling, health, and hygiene because jupiter (this house's other ruler) is in the 8h. it seems like the job hunt is at a standstill with heracles in retrograde - instead, i might get one great option that i take and stick to with given salacia in retrograde.

7H IN ARIES AT 12° (contains: aries nn, chiron rx, part of fortune, pandora (55) rx, and signe (459) rx AND taurus moon and vertex)

prediction: it's a toss up as to what all this could mean. i could find myself in a very emotionally charged connection (this is the eclipse moon after all) - with chiron rx it could be the healing of past wounds. the combination of vertex, part of fortune, and north node dictates that any relationship/partnership i find myself in could be extremely significant. with pandora here i feel like it might be unexpected where this relationship will come from. WITH SIGNE HERE i feel like some people may look down on who i this person is...

8H IN TAURUS AT 9° (contains: taurus jupiter rx and uranus rx)

prediction: oof not my 8h ruler in the 12h - what's that screaming i hear lol? maybe i will be afraid of change - i mean that because of the 12h venus and jupiter retrograde... the combination doesn't really express embracing change and the unknown, you know? the uranus retrograde makes me think i will be moving away from shared finances and working on managing my own money. i definitely believe it is for the best that i keep my opportunities to myself... i don't get the sense people will be supportive of my wins - i more so sense the envy of others from this house. i don't think i will be shocked by my successes, but i feel like others will not see it coming...

9H IN GEMINI AT 10° (contains: gemini midas (1981) AND cancer arachne (407) and odysseus (1143))

prediction: mmmm the contemplation to go back to school is real this coming year. it's weird because it might not be for my MFA? like the 9h midas sextile chiron is giving paralegal? nursing? idk but it's not feeling literary oriented... especially with cancer arachne present, i feel like that is nursing/medical-esque... alternatively, midas can be extreme change then add in odysseus, the traveler - i could be going on a trip that changes my life entirely.

10H IN CANCER AT 14° (contains: cancer ajax (1404), hannibal (2152), and loke (4862) AND leo agamemnon (911) and arthur (2597))

prediction: it's a REAL toss up how this house will manifest. i feel like sometimes people will love me and find my presence comforting and other times they will hate me and be annoyed by me. this is thanks to the moon ruler in the 7h... and ajax (who squares my chiron)... and agamemnon (who squares my moon)... i say ajax because i think of my 3h this year - i am falling on my own sword in that regard for sure because not everyone will like what i have to say especially when it is likely to be true (3h sag is starting to remind me of a verbal burn). while people are likely to look up to me (10h arthur AND hannibal) or be forced to - because of my status, they are likely to despise me for what i say/said (7h moon AND mercury and jupiter (3h ruler) square arthur). meanwhile, it might not even be me who is the problem i just look like the bad guy for making it more apparent like loki (10h loke).

11H IN LEO AT 17° (contains: leo charybdis (388), helena (101), and hestia (46) AND virgo beowulf (38086), juno (3), lacrimosa (208), and silentium (2710))

prediction: i feel like my popularity is going to be a thing / where i am on the social status food chain (high up). but i don't believe i can trust anyone this year... i feel like i am likely to reach big social media milestones with beowulf in this house (and this house being in leo at 17°) - social media might even take over my life a little bit (11h charybis). i do feel like friendships will be very love hate with juno and hestia here - i am likely to be a moderator of sorts but with helena here i feel like someone is going to accuse me of being disloyal because of how i am likely to moderate without bias. i might find myself truly alone again this year because of it (11h lacrimosa and silentium).

12H IN VIRGO AT 17° (contains: virgo venus)

prediction: greatttt i thought we were passed this but i guess not.... looks like i still need to work on my self esteem... intuitively, i don't sense social media is going to be kind to me, and i really hope that doesn't mean here. like i am okay if it is instagram (that app is dying anyway) but like here and tiktok are my favorite apps to be in. when bullying is involved though and it is consistent, there is a limitation to that favoritism in which it becomes apprehension to stay for something like a social media in comparison to showing up for myself. there could also be delusions in romance with this set up - i could experience over thinking in a romantic connections with that 12h virgo venus too. karmic relationships are highly probable with this placement too. OR it could be an ex becoming an enemy too (unknown enemies my a$$)...

hiiii just wanna start off by saying I love your art style and general vibes ✨️ I'm a stay-at-home partner always in search of fun things to do, and I've recently gotten back into art after not engaging with it since I was a kid (largely because your sun n moon fixation rubbed off on me 😭). I've never tried digital art and it looks cool! Do you have any advice for a beginner like me?

Oh it makes me so happy when people say I inspired them to start creating again 😭 The DCA and the fandom brought me out of my own years-long artistic funk last spring. Clown power, yeehonk 🤠 🤡

I’m planning a significantly longer post in response to an ask I got ages ago all how I learned to draw the way I do, so lookout for that.

But in the meantime, here’s a couple things I can think of off the top of my head:

Specific tools don’t matter much. I currently use Procreate and would recommend it if you have an IPad. It’s an extremely simple but effective program.

On desktop, I use Clip Studio Pro, but Krita is another program I’ve used and liked AND it’s completely free.

I do also have loads of experience with Photoshop and other Adobe products but can’t recommend them at the price, not to mention they’re not super beginner friendly.

Hardware-wise, I almost exclusively use my IPad to draw because it’s so portable. I also have a Huion Kamvas pen tablet monitor that hooks up to my desktop. But I started doing digital art with a dinky lil Wacom tablet that was less than $100. There’s definitely a bit of a disconnect at first, not looking at where you’re drawing but rather on a screen, but you get used to it.

Bottom line is to use whatever tools are convenient and comfortable for you! I even know of a great artist that exclusively draws with their mouse. I realized I hated sitting at a desk and that stopped me from practicing digitally. I got an IPad and now it’s much easier for me to work comfortably on what I love.

Point two I’d like to make is take advantage of the capabilities of working digitally. This means using the godsent undo button to your heart’s content. Download fun brushes to play with and add texture. Use perspective grids. Turn on line stabilization so your strokes are extra smooth. Like what you’ve sketched so far but want to try something different? Duplicate the layer and work from there so you can go back to the old version if you change your mind. Radically change the colors or values with adjustment layers. Use clipping masks. Abuse the liquify tool.

A lot of this might sound like gobbledygook to a digital art beginner but just googling any of this terminology will get you loads of tutorials and information for your specific setup. Also I’m happy to go into details about specific digital art techniques I’ve picked up with over a decade and a half of experience.

Finally, and most importantly—make what you want to see in the world AND what feels good to make. This ofc is not exclusive to digital art, but I always want to stress this to new artists. I realized after I got into the DCA fandom that I had been letting shame, fear, and perfectionism keep me from creating the content I was really interested in making. But then man, idk. Frickin’ robot clowns amirite ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it’s like there was a secret agent sent into my brain and he uploaded a DCA virus into my mainframe or smth idk hacker style. tktktktkt. they’re in.

Pairing - Bucky Barnes x Reader Summary - You know what kind of man he is. A liar. The sort of man that promises everything under the sun. The sort of man that promises dreamy nights and delivers lonely mornings. You only wish his lies weren't so sweet.

I've been thinking a lot about If You Lie Down With Me. It reminds me a lot of Bucky Barnes.

1940's Bucky Barnes.

A bit of a sweet talker, never too serious, always with a wry smirk and his next charming remark on the tip of his tongue.

He'd be standing in a dark, smokey room. Whiskey clinging to his breath.

Standing at the edge of the crowded party, he waited for a while to see what sort of trouble tonight would bring him.

He'd found his trouble exactly thirty minutes ago. His eyes were drawn to the door the moment you walked in.

Bingo.

Now, all he had to do was wait. His father always told him to bide his time, that good things came to those that waited.

The music roars over the sound of his stuttering heart, though no one would ever guess that with the mischievous smirk on his face paired with a wicked glint in his eye.

His eyes just keep finding you. He can't help himself.

They rake over the room over and over. It doesn't matter, nothing else catches his eye. Nothing else draws him in. Just you.

You stand as far away from him as humanly possible, chatting amongst your group of girl friends, pretending like he isn't even there. He expected no less. 

It seemed like you paid him no mind, but Bucky Barnes was a perceptive man.

He noticed that flicker in your expression when you saw him and Steve standing on the outskirts of the party.

He wasn't dense either, he knew you'd spent the better part of a month avoiding him. It was dumb luck that brought you two to the same party tonight or maybe fate was on his side. He smirks at the thought, there was no fighting fate after all. 

Steve lightly nudges Bucky's side after spending several minutes trying to talk to Bucky. "Buck?"

Bucky's eyes quickly shift away from his unabashed staring, "Yeah?"

"You've got the look of someone who is about to do something very stupid," Steve admonishes. Steve chastises himself, he should've known better, Bucky wasn't one to hug the wall at a party. Normally, Bucky had a girl on his arm and was trying to find a date for Steve, of course he was just looking for his opportunity to stir the pot, "Which means we should probably go."

"Go?" Bucky loudly guffaws, rolling his eyes at the absurdity of Steve's suggestion, "The party just started!"

"Please, Bucky, I don't wanna start anything tonight," Steve quietly pleads, Steve already hated parties, and he hated parties even more when Bucky was being a bit of a troublemaker.

"We came to have fun, Steve, and fun is what I intend to have. Live a little!" Bucky cajoles, nudging Steve with his elbow.

"Bucky," Steve groans, picking the skin on his fingers. "Please don't."

"I won't start anything I can't finish, Stevie. Don't you trust me?"

"Not particularly," Steve retorts.

Bucky claps a hand over Steve's frail shoulder, "Smart man, Steve. It's why we're friends."

"You're about to do something stupid, aren't you?"

"It'll either be stupid or it'll be one of the best decisions of my life," Bucky declares, smoothing his jacket before he takes off into the crowd.

"My money is on stupid," Steve declares under his breath, shoving his hands in his pocket.

Bucky holds his head up high as he cuts through the crowd. He'll make the occasional greeting when someone calls his name, always ready to show off his dazzling smile. But, otherwise, he's a man on a mission tonight.

When he makes his way to your group of friends, he notices the way you focus a little too intently on what your friend was saying. Something about a new seamstress in town. You nod, pretending like you don't see Bucky making his way toward you.

"Ladies," Bucky greets with a tip of his head, inserting himself in your circle of friends without remorse. He winks at you, ignoring the eye roll that you respond with. He reaches out to you, taking your hand, "Mind if I steal your friend for a while?"

"And if we do?" your best friend snipes.

"Then I'll promise to give her back," Bucky quips, letting the transgression roll off his back. 

"Actually, we were in the middle of a conversation, Bucky. You'll have to come back later," you blithely reject him.

He pouts his bottom lip, looking to you with his best puppy dog expression, "Come on, I haven't seen you dance all night. Just one dance with an old friend?"

You look around to your friends. Half of them want you to go with him. Half of them want you to stay out of trouble, which meant staying away from Bucky Barnes. Somewhere in that half you know there's some friends that would kill if it meant Bucky would take them dancing.

You know how persistent Bucky can be. You know that he always finds a way to get what he wants. Hell, he'd probably stand with your friends and listen to all the neighborhood gossip until you gave in.

You sigh through gritted teeth, "Just one dance."

Bucky clutches his chest with a happy sigh, "You're making me the happiest man in the room tonight."

"That was rude," you chide as he guides you to the center of the room by your hand.

"I'm just a man that wants to see his best girl," Bucky remarks, stopping in the middle of the makeshift dance floor, "What's so wrong about that?"

You stand before him with a firm scowl, "I'm not your best anything, Bucky."

He playfully clutches his chest, taking your hand with the other, "You're hurtin' my feelings, Doll."

"Don't call me that," you sharply remark, pulling your hand out of his grasp. "It gives people the wrong impression."

He takes your hand again, this time, he places it on his shoulder, "And what impression is that?"

You hold your head up high, rolling your shoulders back. You don't want to talk to him, not tonight, not any night. You resolved that you needed to stay away from Bucky Barnes. You'd held on for a month, now was no time to quit. “Enough talking, Bucky. Just do what you do best.”

He chuckles, a crooked grin tugging at the corner of his mouth. He places a heavy hand on your waist, the other resting in your hand, “Yes, ma’am.”

The song is slow, intimate. It's everything you don't want to be around Bucky.

You don't want him to look at you with that damned smirk.

You don't want him to look at you like you're the first woman he's ever had eyes for.

You don't want him to look at you like he actually cares about you.

Instead, you try to focus on how much you love to dance. He was right about that. You loved the feeling of the live band playing, of the music filling a room, of someone holding you through a melody. There was nothing quite like it. 

You never would have asked Bucky, though. You'd rather stand around the party bored out of your mind than to give him any room to weasel his way back into your life.

But he always was your favorite dance partner.

It's a perfect match, you and him. It always has been.

He has this air about him as he glides you around the room.

He dances you all around the room, like he wants nothing more than to show you off to each corner of the room, to show everyone how well you go together.

He makes you feel as graceful as a ballerina. He ignites something inexplicable within you, something you're sure you'll never find again. He makes you feel wanted, just for one short song, he makes you feel like you're his only desire.

He twirls you once, the soft fabric of your dress floating around you both.

Twice.

Three times.

You always land back in his arms.

Your breath hitches when you land especially close to him this time. He smiles to himself when he feels your breath skate across the top of his collar, your sweet perfume overwhelming his senses.

He grips your waist, just tight enough to make sure you’re perpetually aware of him.

"You've been avoiding me," Bucky flippantly observes, his thumb tracing patterns over the back of your hand.

"I've been busy," you retort in a clipped tone.

He humorously snorts, "Bullshit."

You pull back a little, looking up at him with a raised eyebrow, "Excuse me?"

"You heard me," Bucky shoots back, never once breaking his stride, "What's kept you so busy you couldn't say hi when you saw me at the shop the other day?"

"Johnny was waiting for me," you matter of factly reply, following Bucky's every move. Where he goes, you go, "We were having dinner with my parents, if you have to know."

"Johnny," Bucky repeats, practically spitting the name. "I thought I heard somethin' about that."

You hold your head high, refusing to let Bucky feel bad for moving on with your life, "We had dinner together."

"You've never invited me to have dinner with your parents," Bucky lilts, "I'm offended."

You sharply scoff, "We both you know you were never serious about me."

"And how do you figure that?" Bucky challenges.

"You can't be serious," you deadpan.

"Cross my heart," he wryly remarks, pulling you closer to him. "I'm always very, very serious. 'Specially about you."

"I'm nothing more than a holiday to you," you murmur, clutching his shoulder as the tempo swells. "You only want me, you're only interested in me, when you need a break from your other Dolls. We have a good time, you swear it'll last forever, and you always leave."

"My other Dolls?" He scoffs. "The last time we spoke we were talking about going steady."

You slightly shake your head, rolling your eyes. Life hadn't been the same since you decided to cut Bucky out of it.

You expected that your life would be more clear, make more sense without Bucky's pretty lies being whispered in your ear. In some ways, that did happen.

You just didn't realize how much you liked the haze that formed around your thoughts when he was near. He overwhelms you, ensnaring all your senses. You don't let the haze form this time.

You have to let this childish fever dream pass, your grip tightens,  "You don't mean it. You never mean it."

"I do mean it!" he quietly exclaims, a little louder than he anticipated.

"The last time we spoke, you talked a big game. And I almost believed you," you remorsefully admit, cursing yourself for even believing that it would ever work between you and Bucky. It was that day that you learned what you wanted and what could be were two very, very different things. "And the very next day you were out with Dot."

Bucky internally cringes, he remembers that day a month ago. Crazy thing was he was pretty sure he hadn't even seen Dot since then. Sure, he'd spent a date or two with a few other girls, but it was never serious to him. He shakes his head, sighing, "We just went out for a soda. She called me, what was I supposed to do?"

“He asked me to marry him,” you finish Bucky's sentence.

You've know Bucky your whole life, played together as kids, grown up in the same schools.

You know Bucky Barnes like you know yourself.

And you'd never once seen Bucky speechless, never once caught off guard, never once without a quick remark.

With this news, he is all three.

Up until this point, he had not missed a single beat, not a single misstep, or awkward lull in your dance. He stops moving in the very center of the dance floor.

It takes him a moment to regain his composure. Once he does, you're both acutely aware of the sparseness on the floor and the eyes on you.

He clears his throat, rapidly shaking his head. He looks down to you with an expectant look as he starts to lead you again, “And?”

You look up at him, your eyes boring into his, “And I’m gonna to say yes.”

He shakes his head, pulling you even closer, much too close to be considered a friendly dance anymore. Physically, you knew that if you pushed Bucky away, he'd let you go, he wasn't that type of person. You only wish you had the mental fortitude to pull away from him.

He grunts, “No, you’re not.”

You definitively nod, trying your very best to hide the heartbreak in your expression, “I am.”

"What on Earth could Johnny have that I can't give you?" he demands.

“I want children, a family-“

“Then let’s have children!”

“I want a husband," you continue, your words more pointed this time. You know that Bucky Barnes is not a man that would ever be satisfied. He'd always want more than you could ever give him. And you weren't okay with that. You felt sick at the thought of being the poor wife in the neighborhood whose husband constantly strayed. That wouldn't be you. And Bucky Barnes had proven incapable of change. "Someone who will be loyal, faithful. Someone who won’t leave.”

"If you'd give me a chance -"

You repeatedly shake your head. You know what kind of man he is. The sort of man that promises everything under the sun. The sort of man that promises dreamy nights and delivers lonely mornings.

You remind yourself to stay strong, that you deserve a chance to have a family, a stable and secure future. You know you're not asking for much. Johnny made a humble living in his father's company. He could offer you everything that Bucky could, possibly less. But at least you knew he'd be there.

You're not asking for much, no, but you're still asking for more than Bucky was willing to give you. It didn't matter what he said.

You frantically shake your head again, like that would keep his pretty lies from taking root in your head, "Not this time. Not anymore. I’m over y-“

“Don’t say that," Bucky cuts you off. He pulls you closer until your chest is flush with his, "Good girls don’t lie.”

“It was a fling, an infatuation," you shakily exhale. You look up at him with pleading eyes, begging him to release his emotional hold on you. "You’re already done with me.”

He shakes his head, looking oddly disappointed in himself for his inability to let you go, "I will never be done with you."

"Now, who's lying?"

“It’s already too late. I hope you know that.”

Desolation courses through you, followed by a soul crushing resignation. This is what you wanted. Your fever dream had to be laid to rest, “I know it is.”

“No, really, it’s too late.” He takes your arm, but only twirls you halfway this time. He stops you when your back is pressed against his chest, leaving you facing the dance floor spectators. His arm is draped over your midsection, he still doesn't stop swaying you back and forth. Your eyes scan over the party of people, all watching your interaction with Bucky. You're certain this will get back to Johnny. You're certain you'll hear people whisper about this when you walk down the street, so close to Bucky though you'd spent a month with another man. Bucky rests his chin on your shoulder, softly murmuring in your ear, “Look at all those people watching us. Wishing they were me, wishing they could hold you like I can. Wishing they were you. They know what you don't. They know that these are two people that are not over each other.”

There's nothing you can say to that. Your stomach twists into a firm knot. Resignation seeps into your bones like lead. You feel heavy and light all at once.

He turns you back. With one look, you know. You know he's not planning on letting you go. He's not planning on letting someone else take you away from him. He speaks, zeroing in on your lips, leaning so close his breath dusting across your cheeks, "They all know you're lying. They know you're the only one for me."

"What do you want from me?" you whimper, only a breath away from his lips.

"Tell him no," he instructs, his words you take as your gospel. They flood your head once again, and worse, they fill your heart with doomed hope. "Tell him you love someone else. Tell him that once you know love like that, there's no goin' back."

You can't seem to escape the hold he has on your heart, and you can't find it in yourself to fight the trance he has you in anymore. It breaks your heart. You swallow the knot in your throat, nodding, "Okay."

He twirls you once.

Twice.

Three times.

You always land back in his arms.

Tears stain your cheeks this time. He tenderly brushes them away. He wipes away all of your doubts with them. 

"I'll treat you so nice, Doll. Whatever you want, I promise." He hovers so close you can smell the whiskey on his breath. You can hardly smell the lies through the sweetness of the words. "We'll dance, get married, whatever you want, I promise."

At least, if he lies down, he’ll lie next to you.

At least, if he lies, he'll lie with you.

hello, person who followed for fandoms not your current one here! i would love to know more about that character you draw a lot (sun or moon?? not sure on the name), what are they from, etc? as much or as little as you would like to explain. i am intrigued, ive seen them around a lot for the past, idk, year or two? they seem interesting. (I will unfortunately never read/watch/play whatever media they’re from, even if it’s very good, it’s my fatal flaw sorry)

They are Sun and Moon! :) Two characters, if you want to see them that way (you don't necessarily have to.) They are in the same body, so to refer to them both as a whole entity, people tend to just say "the Daycare Attendant" or the DCA.

They are from Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach. Security Breach drastically differs from the other FNAF games, so while I've personally always been into the franchise, a lot of people are drawn in specifically to this game alone. It's... more open, you walk around, the characters have a lot of personality, and you're a child with missions, etc. It makes it incomparable essentially.

There is a section in the game where the child you play as (Gregory) needs to enter the Superstar Daycare. You go down the slide, you land in the ballpit, aaaand-! A sun-themed jester animatronic notices you. Sun. He's energetic, he's a solid mix of anxiety and joy. He is no threat to the player and cannot harm you, only wanting to have fun and urging you to follow the rules.

The switch in AI is light-activated. When you cause the lights to go out, Sun's rays retract, the hat comes out, and Moon now appears. He is the threat, and will chase the player. His voice is very raspy, he's the menacing laughter type, he urges you to "hidey-hide away" and sleep, as he is specifically the Naptime Attendant.

So. Ahem. I will now ask you, if you're familiar with the Sans Undertale treatment. The DCA fandom is the result of people getting very passionate about this one silly guy, or silly guys. A Security Breach subfandom. You don't have to be apart of the "DCA fandom" to love them though. It's more a matter of how someone participates, I suppose. This isn't to take away from the love the rest of the game has, but to explain that this specific side exists

You don't have to watch this, but you can take a glance if you'd like! People love them, like them, or just think they're way too creepy

There's other things, like Moon's sections, details that video above skips past (I chose a video where the person speeds through it), and the whole Eclipse thing, but I'll leave it to the essentials. This is what I've been super into <3

Gosh there are too many to list in a single post, and a few may get me targeted assassins XD

I'm quite lukewarm on Rei & Mina from Sailor Moon, maybe reflecting that I wasn't super into the manga & only watched some of the live action stuff but still.

Reylo, obviously. Other Star Wars would be Obi-Wan/anyone really, and also the fact people actually treat Anakin and Padme as romantic or like they could have a functional relationship scares me.

If we do a quick drive-by on ATLA, I really don't get why Azula & Aang became so popular, or Zuko & Katara. Or more, the best explanations I have for them still leave me going :/ at best. So there's that.

In Warcraft we have Thrall & Jaina, which is just 100% a case of, "Wow, they sure are standing next to each other" as far as ships go. Also for WOW is Jaina & Sylvanas, I only get it aesthetically, kinda.

Felix & Kagami from ML has me like ???? I didn't watch past S3 though so ??? Also that people treat Gabirel & Emile or Gabriel & Nathalie as like.. healthy is just... What!? I get the ships, I don't get the fanon spin on them.

In Dragon Ball, this one also draws targeting fire, but I never really got Vegeta & Bulma, which is canon I know, but still. A fling is one thing but an actual relationship just leaves me head-scratching. Also not sure if this is still the case, but I recall Gohan & Piccolo as being weirdly popular back in the olden days, and like, what!?

In DC, oh boy, gonna piss some people off with this one, but:

Bruce & any long term relationship, I don't care if its Selina, Talia, Clark, or Diana, or Harvey. This is not a man who can commit to another human being, because he's committed himself to staling the utterly uninterested Gotham City. Anything claiming otherwise is positively incomprehensible to me.

Also I don't grasp why Dick & Babs is so popular, or Tim & Steph, or Tim & Jason. The former has some history, but it so often feels like crow-barring two former high school crushes who have moved on together against their will. The latter is just like,... No, just no.

Within RWBY, if we are strictly going by popular pairs then I really don't get Weiss & Jaune, or Ruby & Jaune. I'm not even talking about like, V2 behavior or whatever, they've all grown, but I don't see how they've grown in a way that leads to these being popular ships. I had a similar stance on Blake & Sun when it was a major player; like attraction can be there without me thinking it works as a ship.

Also Ironwood & Glynda is just like... She could not be more utterly not into him if she tried, why are you people forcing it? Same with Winter & Qrow, their dynamic doesn't even have a fun rivals to lovers vibe to it.

Also as I believe you mentioned but Oscar & Ruby doesn't click with me. Again, I can sort of follow the logic, but I always end up at, "Why is this what you want?" Because to get to it, at least when it comes to the more intense advocates, it usually involved ripping out all the interesting stuff from their dynamic and characters for hurt comfort fic material.

You're gonna kill me.

But I have similar feelings about Ruby & Penny. I can see it more than Oscar & Ruby, but at the same time I just... It doesn't click with me and most stuff I see of it removes all the interesting character drama and dynamics so I get bored outside of a purely aesthetic appreciation level.

Sort of an interesting spin on this, I kind of tricked myself into enjoying a ship I previously didn't like through fandom.

Specifically when writing a Sailor Moon fanfic, I tweaked Usagi & Mamoru's dynamic to be a bit more like their mutual antagonism from the early anime, but cos both were on equal footing, I found their banter really enjoyable to write & started vibing with it.

There might be others but I am drawing a blank right now ><

Yamcha.

Always Yamcha, forever Yamcha, my poor sweet victim of character desolation, Yamcha!

He's introduced in the comedic part of the series with this premise being that he's a powerful and dangerous bandit, who is chronically shy around girls and is deeply romantic, wanting a family.

He's shown to be a skilled fighter who developed powerful techniques on his own with zero training. He knows tons of martial arts lore, was a nice mix of sensible but brave and basically Goku's big brother.

But he kept getting used as the WORF and then after being killed via kamakaze after stepping up to protect his younger friend from such a fate, he is memed to death by the fandom. & is later characterized as a cheater despite having been nothing but loyal to Bulma across the series. Has his desire for a married life & family surgically removed & given to Krillin, & basically gets treated like trash for the rest of time.

Outside of DB...

Pretty much every character, creature or faction I find interesting in Warcraft is hated or regarded with indifference so that's fun XD

As to specific characters from other series:

Chloe of ML, people hating on an already hated in universe 14 year old whose neglectful, corrupt father left her to be raised by he staff in a room that makes a dentist surgery look homey & who otherwise only taught her the worst lessons imaginable. Along with an emotionally and verbally abusive mother & who was actively groomed by the main villain of the series who has known her since she was a child are just... For fucks sake she's 14.

Lila of ML, she's a messy, confusing ass character cos it seems the writers don't have a solid idea for her. But like, within the first three seasons at least, she's still a 14 year old who has two adults with cameras plated in her room manipulating and controlling her.

Azula of ATLA, another 14 year old who was treat like shit by the adults in her family. She's a weapon to her father, a monster by birth to her mother, "Crazy" to an allegedly kind old uncle who has killed infinitely more people than her & only felt bad when it impacted him. Seriously, fuck all those doing Azula hate. She's a better villain than Ozia, a more merciful and skilled general than Iroh, and seems to have at least some actual loyalty to her family unlike Ursa who only cared about Zuko.

Mai of ATLA, People hate her for her dead pan affect and the fact she's not cradling Zuko's sof lil baby head, and or between him & the ship for him they like. Fuck off again, Mai's fun.

Cinder of RWBY, villains are meant to do bad things. Villains like Cinder do not appreciate being blackmailed. Villains like Cinder don't appreciate people who know their secrets, like using the Lamp, being around to hold it over her head later. She's not stupid, some people just lack media literacy.

Harriet of RWBY, while I get that she's not super popular, I tend to find the level of vitriol she gets uncomfortable at best. Like, it often feels less like people not getting the characters role & more like, some people running will with the chance to be unrelentingly hostile towards a fictional black woman. Elm gets some of this but is more often forgotten.

Talia of DC, there is so much racism both in canon and fanon and its heartbreaking.

That was a bit icky, imma leave a positive thing here! Legit love your works from short comics, to illustrations, to even your doodles that come from alongside your asks and answers. It’s always super fun to see how you interact with anons and other peeps with shenanigans and how you as well characterize sun and moon being the exciting yet chaotic bunch they are!

Plus it’s always super fun seeing how you experiment with your designs (tho the antagonist will always be my fav) but eclipse is so funky and colorful to! The way you incorporate plus size bodies into this as well gives us a way to connect to the story even more. And Seeing how far you’ve come to your doodles old and new is amazing! Tho I always look back at them for nostalgia sake, the stories you create so far are so fun to follow!
