REMUS LUPIN
Saturday, 24th of December 1977
The fire crackled beside us as my group of six friends sat in the common room. It was well past eleven now – everyone else had gone to bed, but the rest of us just had so much to do and talk about, apparently.
The Yule Ball was a popular topic. None of the girls would tell us what they were wearing, which seemed to infuriate Sirius – he'd always been a lover of fashion. Whenever it was mentioned I'd always sneak a glance at Y/n – just to see her already looking at me. Maybe they were right. Maybe she did like me – maybe I could ask her...
No.
She wouldn't.
James and Lily sat together on the couch – and I mean together. At the beginning, Lily had just draped her legs across his, but now she was fully sat in his lap, arms circled around his neck and hands playing in his curls. His hands were around her waist respectfully. His hands never ventured lower, and he'd even asked her permission for it. He thought he'd been discreet, but I could hear everything – one of the few pros (or one of the many cons, depending on how you looked at it) of being a werewolf.
"We should probably be getting to bed soon," Lily yawned.
"C'mon, it's not like we're gonna miss Santa Claus," James grinned. "He's not real."
Sirius gasped, placing his hands over Peter's ears. "Shh! Don't spoil Pete's dreams!"
Peter batted his hands away with a scowl, causing the rest of us to laugh.
"Hey, what if we have a sleepover?" James suggested. "Y'know, all of us?"
Sirius sat upright and stared at James with adoration in his eyes. "James Fleamont Potter," he gushed, "That is completely and utterly the best idea you've ever come up with!"
"A sleepover is his best idea ever?" Y/n scoffed. "And here I was, thinking James may have had a bright future ahead of him."
James scowled and everyone laughed.
"A sleepover sounds fun," Lily said.
"Well, since us fellas can't get into the ladies' dorms, it seems you will be joining us," Sirius said, winking at Lily, and causing James's arms to tighten slightly.
Lily and Y/n got up to get changed into their pyjamas and get ready for bed, and the rest of us walked to the boys' dorms. Regulus disappeared into the bathroom, and James cast a silencing charm before turning on me.
"Have you asked her out yet?" he pressed.
"Who?"
"Y/n, you idiot!" Sirius cut in.
I felt myself blush a deep red, and I looked away, rubbing the back of my neck. "Er... no."
"Why not?" Sirius demanded.
"I don't think she likes me," I mumbled.
Sirius looked at me like I had said the stupidest thing ever, and it made me want to hit him. "C'mon, you asked her to the ball, and she said yes! That's gotta mean something!"
"Maybe she just didn't want to hurt my feelings," I protested. Even though my thoughts travelled back to how she'd reacted – how she'd seemed glad, excited, even. But maybe that was just wishful thinking.
Sirius scoffed and James rolled his eyes.
"All in favour that Y/n likes Remus back and he should ask her out?" Peter suggested, raising his hand.
I glared at my friends as their hands all rose in the air, and they all voiced their agreements.
"Wait, you like Y/n?" All of our heads whipped to the bathroom door, where Regulus stood, a massive grin on his face. "I gotta tell her."
I felt my stomach drop, and I was surprised it hadn't fallen out of my body and hit the floor.
"You aren't telling anyone anything," Sirius barked. "Can anyone perform a memory charm?"
"Hey! You stay away from my memories!" Regulus hissed, covering his head as if it would shield him from the magic.
James stepped towards Regulus, "You understand why Moony would want to keep this quiet, right?"
Regulus just looked at James, assessing him, and I felt my heart drop. Regulus would tell Y/n, and she would be weirded out and never speak to me again. I could already see it happening, see everything playing out in my head... until Regulus sighed.
"Fine," he muttered, "my lips are sealed."
It was silent for a moment, before Peter piped up, "Regulus would know if Y/n likes Remus too."
I saw a look of shock on Regulus's face before he quickly schooled his features into neutrality and shrugged. "I don't think I'm allowed to tell you that."
"Reg–" Sirius started, but Peter cut across.
"It's a yes!" he yelled.
Everyone turned to him, expressions of confusion clear on our faces.
"I dunno how you came to that conclusion, mate," James said.
"Well, if she didn't like Remus, Regulus would just tell us, wouldn't he?" Peter explained. "Y'know, so you don't get your hopes up. And if he's not allowed to tell us, it's obviously a secret, which means it's obviously a yes."
Everyone looked to Regulus, who muttered, "fuck."
"HA!" Sirius yelled, pointing at me. "Told you so!"
"Shut up," I grumbled, flopping down onto my bed.
Sirius whooped and jumped up on his bed, throwing his head back and singing, "Moony's in love! Our Moony's in love!"
"Shut up!"
"Never!"
"I will hang you from the Astronomy Tower," I threatened.
"That doesn't sound very Prefect-like of you."
I turned at the sound of Y/n's voice to see her grinning, standing beside Lily in the doorway. I quickly looked at the others, unsure as to how long they'd been there.
"How much of that did you catch?" I asked nervously.
Y/n cocked her head. "Er... just your violent threat. Also you telling Sirius to shut up, which, I'm sure, was for a valid reason."
Sirius gasped in outrage and lunged for Y/n, but she sidestepped, smiling as she did so. That little grin was enough to make me smile too, but it dropped as soon as I saw my friends giving me suggestive smirks.
Lily and Y/n conjured mattresses for themselves and made their beds, before they both sat cross-legged beside each other.
We'd never had a sleepover before – at least, not with the girls. I expected them to beg us to do our hair or make up, but that never happened. The closest thing to that was Y/n yanking on Regulus's hair because he was annoying her.
It took a while for everyone to fall asleep. We were all so excited and eager for Christmas and the ball that we were wide awake. But no one stayed up forever. Peter was the first to fall asleep. I could hear him snoring away, so I cast a sound-silencing charm over his bed so we wouldn't wake him up. Lily was next, in James's arms. And then James himself, and Sirius and Regulus, until it was just me and Y/n left.
The moon shone into the dorm – it had been full a week ago, and it still glowed brightly, the stars glinting beside it. Y/n studied it carefully and then looked over at me. I felt myself blush when I realised I'd been caught staring, but the girl just smiled at me.
"What are you thinking about?" I asked.
Y/n looked at me for a moment, chewing on her bottom lip. James let out a snort in his sleep, which caused Y/n to jump. I had to stifle a laugh, and she narrowed her eyes at me, and I hesitated for a moment before gesturing to her to come over. She looked at the bed beside her and slowly got up, tiptoeing across the room and to my bed. I cast a silencing charm and she raised an eyebrow, to which I shook my head furiously, embarrassment and mortification filling my body.
"That's not – I didn't cast the charm because – because I wanted–"
Y/n laughed. "I was just teasing."
Relief washed through me, and I was able to smile alongside her. It was silent, before–
"The – the stars," she whispered. "I was thinking about the stars. That one is Regulus."
She pointed to a star in the sky, but I couldn't make out which one it was.
"I – I look at it, sometimes, when I'm at – at that place. When I'm surrounded by them." It took me a moment to realise she was talking about Malfoy Manor, and her family members. "It – it feels like he's there with me, sometimes. Comforting me."
"You love him," I stated.
Y/n smiled slightly. "Tell him and I'll have to kill you."
I smiled back at her, feeling her words resonate slightly.
"I know what you mean," I confessed, looking at the sleeping figures of my friends. "I – without them, I... I wouldn't..."
I wouldn't be who I am. I would be shrouded in misery and self-hatred. My friends were everything to me. They were worth more than anything in the world. More than money, more than fame, and (although I'd never admit it to them) more than books and chocolate. They were my rock in a stormy sea, the thing that kept me afloat.
Y/n nodded softly in understanding. "I know," she murmured.
She was no longer smiling, but there was empathy in her features. Did she feel the same way about Regulus? Was he her rock? Her eyes bored into mine, and I was suddenly reminded of the saying, the eyes are the window to the soul. If she looked hard enough, would she see through? See inside, see what a monster I was?
"What are you thinking about?" she asked.
I couldn't tell her – not this, never this. I wanted to believe that she'd be understanding, that she'd be like James and Sirius and Peter and Lily – that she wouldn't care. But I couldn't take that risk.
"The Ball," I lied.
If she knew that I hadn't told the truth, she made no mention of it. In fact, she even smiled, looking down shyly and batting her eyelashes a bit.
"Yeah?"
"Yeah," I said. "I, um... I think it'll be good. Y'know, if I don't trample your feet."
Y/n chuckled and looked up at me, her smile brightening the room, washing out the glow of the moon. "You'll be fine, Remus. I believe in you."
And the way she said my name – fuck. I was falling hard, and I could tell there was no stopping. I was freefalling without a parachute, without anything to stop or catch me. This wasn't going away, the feelings weren't going away. I should stop it now, I should just let her go, but...
But you're scared. You want her.
I did want her. So badly. I wanted to be with her, to kiss her, to hold her hand and hold her and be the one she called hers.
"We should probably get some rest, huh?" she suggested, looking back at her own makeshift bed. "Y'know, so we don't miss Santa?"
I grinned at her, and she slid off my bed and into her own.
You'll be fine, Remus. I believe in you.
Fuck. It was really going to hurt when I hit the ground.

Remus’ leg bobbed impatiently, eyes darting to the entrance everytime someone entered hoping it was you yet he was only met with disappointment. His mood did lighten as he saw his friends enter, chuckling as he watched James walk into the table as he tried to woo Lily.
“You alright?” he asks trying not to smile to hard as James groans
“Eh it’s nothing” he cringes sitting opposite, Peter by his side, while Sirius plops himself down next to Remus “Did she laugh at least?” he ignores his pain and embarrassment, only thinking of the girl sitting little ways down from them now, giggling with Marlene and Alice
“Yeah Prongs, she laughed” he tells a little white lie, though he’s sure Lily probably did think it slightly adorable
“Where's your lovely lady?” Sirius asks, scanning the Hufflepuff table for you
Remus sighs “She hasn’t appeared yet” he knew you were probably catching up with your friends, they had both been away with their families travelling so you hadn’t seen them either…he’d never admit it but he was a tad jealous he wasn’t going to get to hug you first
“Oi” he’s pulled from his gloom by Sirius nudging him, pointing towards the door “Speak of the angel and there she shall appear” he grins, his point turning it’s a little wave at you and your friends
Remus lights up, heart warming at your shy smile and slight embarrassment when both Peter and James join in waving to you…in fact they couldn’t see but Marlene, Lily and Alice had all begun to wave as well. You grant them a small wave back as you head to find a seat, Amos joining you as he smiles at them, while Alex shoots a wink and a small salute, the former towards one particular marauder.
“Happy now?” James grins at his friend
Remus nods bringing his gaze back to you as Dumbledore starts his speech, he barely listens, doubting it’s any more interesting this year than it has been the last six. Instead he admires you, he’d missed you so much, more than he realised in fact, the boy couldn’t take his eyes off you. His gaze drifted across your features, while he noted your face did look a little hollow, his mind had other ideas, asking you if you had been eating properly could come later, but for now his eyes fixated on your lips as he daydreamed about kissing you, touching you, f…
“Ha…best behaviour for the youngins…” Sirius brings him back to reality, chuckling to himself “...that’ll be right?” turning his gaze to him, before he starts to grin “Moony missin’ her too eh?” he wiggles his eyebrows noting Remus’ blown pupils and guilty look
If he wasn’t already bright in the face Remus was scarlet now “Shut up” he grumbles trying to compose himself, face riddled with embarrassment but it softens as he realises your looking over
Hi, he mouths
Hi, you mouth back with a small smile before turning your attention to the front once more but somethings off, he can feel it
You felt awful, every bone in your body ached, and it didn’t help that your skirt's waistband was rubbing against last month's scar. You were grateful none were too visible, the biggest were along your waist and hips from the initial attack, though there was one other on your arm, it could easily be written off as a fall or cat scratch, the former being the one used likely use as it lined up with a real fall you had written to Remus about over summer.
Remus
You sighed as you glanced over at him, finding his attention had finally moved back to his friends, most likely plotting their first prank of the year. It was easy to pretend in your letters, thankfully he hadn’t come looking for you on the train but you knew you would have to talk to him eventually. Would he know? Would he be able to sense you were now like him? Would he see you as he saw himself? Would he think you a monster?
Am I a monster now?
“Hey…” you’re broken out of your gaze, a soft hand finding your shoulder, followed by your friend's kind smile “...are you alright?” Alex asks, knowing something is wrong, just not what
“You can tell us anything” Amos adds, smiling on your other side “You’ve been quiet” and he was right, you’d barely said two words to them since kings cross that morning
How do I tell them? you think eyes welling
“”Hey hey” Amos turns you around as you try to look away, making you face him “You don’t have to tell us…” he assures and you almost want to cry more, you had such wonderful friends “...but let us help you”
“Anything you need, sunshine” Alex’s smile grows into a smirk “We do hugs, skipping out on welcome feasts early, hexes…” that one makes you giggle causing the two boys faces to light up
“Think we could start with a group hug?” you look up at them, the welling tears dissipating as they waste no time wrapping you up in a warm embrace
“Love, wait up!”
You close your eyes, scrunching your face a little as you stop, trying to put on your best act as you turn back around to greet your boyfriend as he lightly jogs towards you
“Oh hi” you smile at him, playing dumb and pretending like you weren’t just trying to avoid him…again
Remus stops in front of you “I’ve been trying to catch you all day!” he laughs a little bit while you feel guilt swell in your stomach “Merlin I’ve missed you so much” he confesses right away
Dammit, you think, finding yourself folding as you stare up at those big brown eyes of his, it didn’t help that your new little wolfy self was acting up either
You’d noticed the heightened senses, your hearing was impeccable now, and you finally understood why Remus was so prone to irritation, you almost smacked poor Amos in potions earlier for stirring the cauldron a little too loudly. Turns out smell was no different either, Remus smelled absolutely divine, and your wolf earned for him.
“Bun?” he gently prods and your heart breaks…you weren’t his bunny anymore
The realisation causes you to crumble, almost knocking him over as you wrap your arms around his torso, burying your face in his chest
He chuckles at that, oblivious to the turmoil inside “I’ll take that as you missed me too” he returns the hug, nose finding your hair
Merlin you smelled great, more so than normal, your pheromones always drove him nuts around the full moon but it was on overdrive now, so much so he finds himself gently shifting, unable to resist waiting to kiss you in a more private location as he brings one hand up to cup the back of your head, while he uses the other to guide your gaze back towards him, but as he moves in he notices the slight glisten in your eyes
“Is something wrong?” he asks, large hands finding your cheeks
You freeze, you never wanted to lie to Remus, you never thought yourself capable, and perhaps you aren’t not truely “I…I wish I could’ve spent the summer with you” it’s not a lie…because if you had, things would be just as they were and nothing would have to change
His face softens to a downturned smile, his eyes looking at you with such love “You’re too sweet to me” he brings you back into a warm embrace “I promise we will next year” he tells you, and you squeeze him tighter
You might not want me next year
The next few days went slowly for both of you, you knew Remus had figured out you were avoiding him on purpose. Never before had you been so distant, especially before a full moon. It hurt so much, every time you crossed paths you wanted nothing more than to run to him, hold him, kiss him anywhere he was hurting but you couldn’t. You knew how the full moons affected your boyfriend, in fact you could feel it yourself, that desire to be close to the one you love, if you did go to his dorm as you normally did he would see the scars, he would see the bite mark, he would know you weren’t his sweet little bunny anymore.
You fell back on your bed, eyes glancing over to the clock, you would need to leave soon if you were to get deep enough into the woods. Your eyes started to water, you didn’t want to go, this was only your second moon and it was already unbearable
You had never felt so alone…
Remus was worried, you never came by to see him, it was so unlike you. These past few days had been so strange to him, he knew something must have happened, he also knew you hadn’t spoken to your friends about it as they seemed just as confused as he did, but whatever it was he couldn’t fix right now
“That's us set up” Sirius pokes his head in averting his eyes from Remus’ unclothed figure “I’m sure she has a good reason moons”
Remus only nods, waiting until Sirius closes the door before reassuring himself “She does…” he brings his legs up to his chest, wrapping his arms around them “...she loves us…” he gently rocks back and forth whispering “...she loves us”
Meanwhile Sirius makes it out of the willow, meeting James and Peter as they hide their bags for later “How is he?” Peter asks, looking forlorn as he notices his friend
“He’s putting on a brave face but…” Sirius shakes his head handing his and Remus’ bags to James “...he needs her” he puts simply
“I don’t understand why she didn’t come” James says, feeling genuinely confused as he reaches up to tuck away the last of the bags “Even when they’ve been in a fight she’s always shown up”
“Something must have happened” Peter looks to James “Maybe tomorrow we could go talk to her friends, surely they know” he suggests
James nods, hands finding his hips “Yeah…yeah that sounds good” he agrees, nodding a little more than was necessary in his worry “Sirius that a plan?” he and Peter look towards their friend only to find him looking somewhere between confused and concerned “Sirius?”
After a few more calls and one branch thrown at him Sirius finally responds “I…ugh…look” he can’t even form a sentence, doing a double take at his friends as he points towards the lining of the trees
James and Peter's eyes scan the area, widening with horror as they see you running towards the tree line. The trio look amongst themselves, their eyes doing the talking as they shift, they didn’t have much time to question why you were out here on tonight of all nights but they follow you into a small clearing, watching as you hang your bag on one of the branches, opening it up as you begin to take off your clothes.
Sirius makes a quiet grunt for only the boys to hear as they grasp you are fully stripping down causing them to all look at him instead of you as they give each other confused looks. However you never make it that far, it’s a scream that causes their heads to shoot back in your direction and they watch an all too familiar scene
You did have a good reason for not showing up tonight…and it shattered their hearts
They didn’t have much time to dwell. Sirius jumps into action first, attempting to distract you from clawing at yourself, while James slowly approaches behind with Peter sitting up on his back acting as a lookout for Remus as if you turned he surely couldn’t be far behind.
You seem a little startled at first before stalking towards Sirius, you seem to note he isn’t scared of you, the boys watch as you calm, your body no longer tense, nor sensing you are in danger and so you let them guide you warily through the woods. In all honesty the boys had no idea what they were doing, they figured if you could sense that Sirius wasn’t a threat then maybe you and Remus would recognise each other as such as well…hopefully
As they came towards the clearing they could hear Remus as he whined in pain but the boys had no time to react as you already bolted off. Startled, they try to catch up, but as they move past the tree line they realise you’ve already made your way to him, growling.
Shit
They’re eyes flick between one another, worried they had made the wrong choice until they watch Remus relax, the two of you sniffing around each other before you begin to lick his wounds and it dawns on them that you weren’t challenging him, you were berating him for hurting himself.
The rest of the moon went by smoothly, the best the boys had ever seen and it was all thanks to you. By the end Sirius and Peter had managed to herd you and Remus back into the willow while James headed back to get your bag
“I can’t believe it” Peter says in astonishment, sliding down the roots to sit at the entrance beside James “No wonder she’s been acting off”
James hums in agreement, fiddling with the strap of your bag “She doesn’t deserve this…neither of them do” he states, sadness washing over him “Man…this gonna break him when he wakes up, he loves her so much”
“He does…” the boys jump a little as Sirius reappears from the willow “I didn’t want to go in fully for y/n’s sake...but I’ve thrown the blanket in that general direction and well…it’s not like they haven’t seen it all before” he makes a face, chuckling softly with the other two as lowers himself to the ground to join them as they decide to try and get a little bit of sleep
At first you didn’t know where you were, eyes opening slowly to survey your surroundings, you had expected to wake up in a ditch somewhere but not…wait. Your eyes widen, jolting up with a slight hiss as you look around, you were in the shack but if you were in the shack then that meant…
“Hey…” you jump a little at his voice, slowly turning to find Remus sitting just behind you, posted up against the wall, one leg half bent with his arm wrapped around it “...how are you feeling? Any pain?” he asks, strain evident in his voice, he looks broken and it kills you
You can only shake your head, slowly bringing the blanket up to cover yourself, shivering a little from the cold draft “Rem…” you say so quietly you’re not even sure you’ve said anything at all
“You’re cold” he states, wincing a little as he moves over to you, body still aching from from his own transformation “I’m okay, don’t worry” he assures, knowing exactly what you were thinking “Here” he pulls off his jumper “Hands up sweetheart”
You do as you're told, allowing him to slip the jumper over your head. He was being so gentle with you, like you might shatter at a single touch, it shouldn’t have surprised you but it did, he must have seen the scars, he must see you differently now…he must…
“Do you think I’m a monster?” you whisper and his movements stop, eyes meeting yours in shock
He blinks at you a couple times before letting out a confused “What?”
Your eyes mist “Do you think I’m a monster?” you repeat, gaze never leaving his
“No” he shake his head firmly, hands finding yours “Never” he says almost harshly, stunned you would ever think such a thing
“Really?” you eyebrows lift, hope and relief in your voice
His eyes soften, confusion washing away as he finally sees it, and a bitter sense of deja vu falls over him. Almost a year ago to the day he sat in your position, looking up at you, asking if you fought him, a monster. He even remembers trying to convince you he was but you wouldn’t hear it, you refused to believe he was no matter what he said. In the end he stil didn’t believed it, but seeing you now, looking at you from the other position he realised just how stupid he had been, how much his own self hatred had made you scared to come to him, made you hate yourself the way he had all this time
“Really” he promises “Is…” he hesitates, because he’s almost certain he knows the answer “Is this why you've been avoiding me?” he asks, one hand slipping out of your own to softly cup your cheek
You lean into it, eyes fluttering as your own comes up to cup it “Yes” you confirm and he nods, looking in though “I’m so sorry…I…” he cuts you off
“Don’t you dare” he warns “You aren’t turning into me, I won’t allow it” both hands are cupping your face now “You haven’t changed, not to me, okay? You are still my girl, still my bu-” but you cut him off this time
“But I’m not I-” you try to argue but Remus isn’t having it
“Stop” he gently shakes your face to regain your attention “You know why I started to call you bunny?” you shake your head “Because whenever you get excited you would do this little bounce, you do it when you’re excited to see me, geeking out about a new book and not to mention when we…” he blushes, stopping himself
You feel heat rush to your cheeks “Remmyy!” you gently shove him as you bounce a little in faux annoyance, causing you both to let out little laughs
“There she is” he smiles at you, laughing more as you become self aware of your bounces, getting all shy before him “Nothing you could ever do would make me think you a monster. I’m so sorry bun, I never want you to talk about yourself the way I have, understood?”
You hum in agreement, nodding “...but that means you can’t be cruel to yourself either” you challenge him, holding your pinky up at him as a small smile gracing your face as you do
Remus clicks his tongue, of course you would use this as a way to help him love himself as well “Fine” he promises, taking your pinky “…now come ‘ere” he moves back to sit against the wall once more, patting his lap as he hithers for you to join him while you chew on your lip a little, shyly accepting the offer and moving to straddle his legs
“There we go” he presses a lingering kiss to your hair, hands wrapping around you while your head falls into his chest “Better?”
“Much” you hum, savouring the moment before you lift your head “I suppose you must have some questions?” you wonder, hands finding his chest, fiddling with buttons of his shirt
“I do” he confesses, it was only natural “My attack is hazy for me now because I was so young…” he softly caresses your cheek “...but it’s fresh for you and I…I don’t want to pry, I can wait until you’re ready” he assures you
You take his hand, pressing a soft kiss to his palm “You remember I told you about my dads case? He was representing the family that was attacked much like you were?” you begin and Remus nods, hands moving to your hips, thumbs gently brushing beneath the hem of his jumper
“Yeah, in your letters you said they got them all and your dad was taking you up north to celebrate?” he recalls but then his lips part “They didn’t get them all did they?”
You shake your head “Turns out their was a much bigger player, someone else behind the scenes who was pulling all the strings” you explain, eyes falling down to his chest, this is going to kill him
“Love…” he tries to guide you back to him “...who…” but as your eyes meet his and they tell all
“Rem” you voice trembles a little
“Say it” he begs you
“Greyback” you whisper watching as Remus’ heartbreak sinks into rage, his grip on your hips tightening “Remmy…Rem…”
He doesn’t hear you say his name, everything around him fades as his anger grows. He never wanted to hear that name again, he never wanted to see that monster again but now? All he could think about was ripping him apart, taking away his freedom like he had done to so many, making him feel as weak and powerless as Remus had felt his whole life…how you would now feel your whole life
I’ll kill him
“Rem” you gently cup his face pulling back to you “Stay with me” you kiss him softly
His hands come up to meet yours “But he hurt you, cursed us to be in pain for the rest of our lives…and the worst part is he’ll be revelling in it all…that bastard…he…” his anger sinks into sadness at your comforting touch “he…” he pleads with you
“He did and we don’t ever have to forgive him but we can't let him take away anything else from us either. He won’t ruin our lives” you watch remus’ eyes soften and you smile at him trying to lighten the mood “Besides…there's always silver linings”
“And what would those be?” he tilts his head, struggling to see it
“Well…” you move your hands downward and kiss his cheeks “...if your senses are anything like mine I smell great” you giggle and he starts to smile, a loving gaze as he looks up at you “And perhaps more importantly…” you peck his nose making it scrunch in the most perfect way “...you’ll never worry about me during a full moon…” you nudge your nose against his “...and that fantasy you have of us living in your parents old cottage can be real, because…” you lean in close, lips grazing as your foreheads kiss “...you’ll never be alone again”
Remus’ heart feels like it might burst, you were right, there were silver linings. He had no idea what his life was going to be like after Hogwarts, he knew he couldn’t rely on his friends forever, nor could he have asked you to bear that responsibility alone, instead you and he would face it together, care for each other together…heal together
“Promise” he holds up his pinky
You smile against his lips, wrapping you own pinky around it “Promise” and with that he closes the gap
Thank you for reading ♡ (I promise my writing will get smoother again with time)

James had pleaded for you to stay behind to study at Hogwarts during this week’s Hogsmeade trip, claiming he couldn’t pass his next exam without his pretty girlfriend by his side. You began working at James’ desk before moving to his floor…then to his bed.
He stared at you with pure longing as you transcribed notes from your textbook, his touch was soft against your shoulders as he kissed your skin. His attention had completely abandoned his own notes long ago, preferring to cover you in gentle kisses pressed to your back.
You couldn’t pretend to focus on your textbook any longer, closing it softly before sending it to the dorm room floor. You turned to face your breathless boyfriend, silently begging you with his big brown eyes.
The make out session that followed was more passionate than any other you two had shared, James gripping at your skin as he rocked his hips into yours.
“We can stop here if you want to,” he muttered breathlessly during a short break. The corners of your lips threatened to tilt into a flirtatious smirk as you softly pushed him backwards. James’ growing desperation was obvious, the boy grinning at you while flipping your bodies over, resting on top of you and making you squeal as his lips traveled down your exposed skin.
The events that followed left you naked and panting beneath his sheets, gazing up at the ceiling in a daze as your boyfriend nuzzled into your neck with a satisfied groan and a beaming smile.
He clutched your sides protectively, sighing as he pulled back to gaze at your flustered face, grinning at the result of his handy work. He kissed up and down your jaw, pausing for a second to admire the marks left by his desperate affection.
You were still reeling from the memory of moments ago, brain fuzzy from the overwhelming pleasure. I was sure the first time was meant to be bad… you thought to yourself. Finally, you noticed James’ lovesick gaze at your neck and collarbone, eyes wide as you realised what he was observing.
“Might have to cover these up before breakfast tomorrow, darling,” he smiled apologetically with sleep lacing his whispering voice, “I went a bit overboard, I’m sorry…” He nuzzled back into your neck with a bashful smile, drawing circles on your skin with his fingers.
——————— ⋆☆ ˚⟡˖ ࣪ ———————
The next day was cold with the promise of impending rain, a perfect climate for inconspicuously slipping on a turtleneck under your uniform before leaving for breakfast with your roommates. You had always maintained a sense of privacy with James, reluctant to tell your friend group quite as much as they tell you about their romantic escapades.
Mary, Dorcas and Lily took their seats on one side of the Gryffindor table as you saved seats for the Marauders on the other. Breakfast was peaceful, the four of you making small talk and enjoying your food before the Great Hall doors opened to reveal the more obnoxious half of your group.
James was looking particularly confident, smiling wide with crinkled eyes and walking with a slight bounce in his step. The boys piled onto the bench next to you while James reached over your head to pluck a peach from the fruit bowl.
“Morning hot stuff,” James winked at you as he slid into the space between you and Sirius, lacing a hand along your back, around your torso and between your thighs. You glared at his cocky grin, face warming at the intimate contact. “What?” he whispered, feigning innocence, “my hands are cold.”
“Uh- Mary was just telling us about this muggle game,” you diverted, “what was it called again?” Mary lit up, returning to her rambling about a complicated board game involving houses and train stations.
——————— ⋆☆ ˚⟡˖ ࣪ ———————
You were far gone by the time Mary caught the others up to speed, engrossed in the way James was breathing against your skin and holding you against his warm, muscular form.
He began to pull at your turtleneck ever so slightly, first at your stomach to rub soothing circles into your skin, then at your neck to peer at his masterpiece from the previous night. James pressed a soft kiss to the highest mark, causing you to shiver and stare intently at your breakfast to distract yourself.
By the time your boyfriend had removed himself from your skin, Mary had finished her explanation and all eyes were on the two of you.
Sirius furrowed his brows, gazing from James, to you, back to James, then to Remus. Remus watched your interaction curiously, eyes gliding down to where James’ hand met the inside of your upper thigh, a familiar symbol of lust he knew all too well from Sirius’ own actions under the table. The girls across from you glanced at each other, then at Peter, before Dorcas completed the circle of confused looks as she stared at Sirius, who finally broke the silence.
“So, Prongs…get much study done while we were out yesterday?” James’ lustful grin faltered as he finally acknowledged your friends’ presence for the first time that morning, turning away from you and towards his roommate.
“Uh- yeah, yeah we did actually! Totally prepared for the exam, Minnie will be praising me,” he pulled one of his hands away from your skin to the back of his neck, scratching in an awkward display of nervousness. His other hand traveled down your leg to rest on your knee, a far more common sight for the two of you. Sirius wasn’t convinced.
“Uh huh…and what’s that exam on again?” He smirked, looking you up and down as you gulped under his glare, “Anatomy?”
Dorcas choked on a laugh, dribbling juice in the process while the others muffled their amusement with their hands. James bit his lip, wincing at the realisation that he had been far too obvious with his intimate affection.
He turned back to you, seeing the bright red hue of your face and the embarrassed downturn of your head. He threw his arm around your middle in confident comfort. Your eyes were glued to a single berry on the edge of your plate.
——————— ⋆☆ ˚⟡˖ ࣪ ———————
Your friends had released a long series of sounds of amusement, cheering in celebration at their recent discovery. “With the way James talks about you, love, I’m surprised he didn’t jump you on the first date!” Sirius cackled, causing James to crack a sympathetic smile in your direction before nuzzling into your neck once again.
“I think this makes us the most experienced group in the school now that you two lovesick dogs, have…you know…” Lily trailed off, “Wait, we are talking about these two losing their v-“
“Obviously!”
James had fully phased out the conversation, getting intoxicated on your scent as his held you close with eyes closed in satisfaction. You were warming up to the conversation now, brushing James’ mess of hair away from his mouth as you giggled at the excitement that erupted from your section of the table.
“So,” Sirius continued, leaning over to you with an obnoxiously loud whisper, “is Prongs good in bed?”
“Yes.”
“Sirius,” James whined, sitting up in the process, “don’t push her- wait, what did you say?” He spun around to face you with wide eyes as you smirked back at him. You were already knee deep in this conversation, it couldn’t hurt to boost your boyfriend’s ego and satisfy his recently discovered lust for praise.
“He’s amazing, in fact…boys, why don’t you go on another secret trip to Hogsmeade tonight? I’m sure you’ve already run out of chocolate, and James could probably do with a room to himself…” you teased in the direction of the remaining Marauders before spotting James’ glossy eyes and parted lips in your peripheral.
He clung tighter to your middle as Peter gazed at you with a confused frown. “But we went yesterday, we still have a lot of-“ he glanced at the others, all adorning knowing smirks. “Ohhhh…yeah, yeah we can do that.”
James turned to Peter with a bashful smile, mouthing a thank you that made the group burst out laughing once again.
Finally remembering their breakfast, your companions returned to cleaning their plates as James continued consuming his, kissing you along your jaw and resisting the urge to line you up on the table then and there. He bit into his peach suggestively, batting his lashes at you.
“No more PDA at the table, Jamie.”

sirius black being the cockiest mf ever trying to impress his crush and she is not impressed in the slightest to the point he starts getting really shy around her because he no longer knows how to act if his usual bravado doesn't work
but turns out just being his dorky, vulnerable, and still (softer) flirty self works like a charm!!
Sirius would totally the most cocky and immature tactics to get you to go out with him. it would be romantic for sure. im picturing the dance number that heath ledger sings in “10 things i hate about you.”
I hope you enjoy!

summery: after Sirius gives up on his boastful ways of flirting, you turn the other cheek and notice the popular marauder is sweet and dorky on the inside.
warnings: not proof read. one inappropriate joke, but that’s all 🫶🏻
pairing: sirius black x reader
Sirius Black was a charmer. That was for certain. Rumors spread like the plague of his roughish ways. You were not a fan of him, which was unfortunate for you because he was a fan of you. Constantly. Every chance he would get, he would flirt you up in the hallway.
“Hey y/n, what are you doing later?” He would ask you. You replied with, “McGonagall’s transfiguration essay.”
Sirius just smirked and returned with his cocky banter, “That’s a shame, I wish you’d do me instead.” He grinned, James and Peter behind him laughing.
It wasn’t genuine, or at least that’s how you felt. You rolled your eyes and replied with, “You wish, Black. In your dreams.”
You walked away with out seeing or hearing Sirius’ response. It frustrated you to no end that he would joke that way. You wanted to save him the trouble. He was obnoxious and too cocky for your own liking.
You missed when he was sweet and genuine. Not the popular boy that has become a staple at Hogwarts.
Sirius on the other hand, genuinely did want you. But no other tactic had gotten him a date. The rumors were misconstrued and he put on a cocky front. But in reality he was just as shy and dorky as he used to be.
One night after a hogsmeade trip, you were reading in the Gryffindor common room. It was a nice quiet night by the fire place. But all of a sudden, Sirius showed up, sat in an arm chair near you and started playing with wizarding cards.
“Could you keep that down?” You asked him, looking up from your book.
You expected a witty and cocky calculated response, but instead Sirius looked flushed. He ran a hand through this shiny hair and nodded, a little shy.
He gave up on impressing you and being so boastful. What did he have to lose? “Yeah sure, sorry.” He replied.
Sirius’ response continued to surprise you. Where were his annoyingly witty comments and jokes? Why wasn’t he flirting?
“Are you okay?” You asked, now a little confused.
“Yeah I’m fine,” he replied, lookin over at you. In his mind you looked so beautiful sitting by the fire. “Urm—actually I wanted to apologize. For making you so upset. I just think you’re really pretty an all. But I’m taking the hint and I’ll stop.”
He sounded so sweet about it and vulnerable. This was the Sirius you liked. The genuine one.
You smiled softly, “Thank you for the apology Sirius. I appreciate it. But you really think I’m pretty?” You asked.
He nodded, continuing to be sincere in his response. “Yeah, could never take my eyes off you love?” He said. It was straightforward and flirty but absolutely adorable and dorky.
You blushed. Why couldn’t be t he like this all the time?
“I like you like this.” You said, with a small smile. Sirius flushed.
“Y-you-u do?” He asked, a little surprised. This was the first time you’d shown him affection.
“Yeah. I mean when you aren’t being so boastful and cocky around me. I like the genuine you, Sirius.” You said.
With that, he sat up and walked over to the couch. He sat next you and both were facing each other.
“Sooo, I guess what you’re saying is???” He teased. You lightly pushed him and laughed.
“I’m saying if you tried to ask me out in a less boastful way. I would say yes.” You explained, blushing.
Sirius felt like he’d won the jackpot. “Really?! Uh I mean oh that’s cool.” He said, earning another giggle out of you.
“Y/n, will you go out with me?” He asked, sincerely.
You nodded, “Yes Sirius, I will.”

Worth it┃sirius black
summary: where Sirius is completely in love with James's sister, but everytime he wants to ask her on a date somehow ends up doing something embarrassing
just sirius being a dumbass in love

Sirius Black, known for his confident attitude and big ego, became a totally different person when it came to Y/n Potter, James' twin sister. From the moment he first saw her on the Hogwarts Express, he fell in love with her. Her bright eyes, her laughter that echoed through the halls, and her loyalty to her friends captivated Sirius in a way he couldn't explain.
However, every attempt Sirius made to impress her seemed to end in humiliation. Whether it was tripping over his own feet, accidentally dropping a potion in Potions class while he was trying to show off, or simply forgetting his words when she stared at him or smiled, Sirius managed to humiliate himself over and over again and the marauders found endless fun in his failed attempts.
One particularly incident occurred during a Gryffindor Quidditch match. Sirius had been practicing tirelessly, determined to catch Y/n's eye with his skills as a Seeker and impress her (again). As he zoomed across the pitch during the game against Slytherin, he spotted Y/n cheering enthusiastically in the stands. Heart pounding with nerves, Sirius dove towards the Snitch, only to misjudge his speed and crash into a ring, sending the Snitch away to the opposite end of the field. The entire stadium bursted into laughter, including Y/n, who clapped a hand over her mouth, trying to stifle her giggles.
"Nice one, Pad! Maybe next time you'll catch something other than the ground," James joked mercilessly after the match, laughing his head off, slapping Sirius on the back.
Sirius tried to laugh, but inside he felt enormous disappointment and shame. He had wanted with all his might to impress Y/n, to show her that he was more than just a prankster or a reckless troublemaker. But every time he tried, it seemed like he only managed to make a fool of himself.
Despite his repeated failures, Sirius refused to give up, she was worth it and he wasn't going to give up so easily. He found himself casting nervous glances at Y/n during meals in the Great Hall, trying to work up the courage to approach her. However, every time he decided to talk to her, his tongue would get stuck and his palms would sweat. Even simple greetings turned into awkward exchanges in which Sirius would end up stumbling over his words or making some ill-timed joke that fell flat.
One rainy afternoon, Sirius was sitting in his dorm with his friends. Peter and Remus were playing a game of wizard chess nearby while James lay on his bed playing with his snitch, occasionally casting sympathetic glances in Sirius' direction.
"You know, mate," Remus began tentatively, moving a knight on the board, "maybe you should just ask her out straightforwardly. None of this grand gesture stuff. Just be yourself."
Sirius sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I've tried, Moony. Every time I try to talk to her, I end up making a complete fool of myself. She probably thinks I'm an idiot by this point."
James chuckled "Nah, she doesn't think you're an idiot. Just a bit… charmingly clumsy as she told me."
Sirius rolled his eyes, but he couldn't help but smile at his friends' attempts to cheer him up. Deep down, he knew they were right. Maybe he had been going about it all wrong. Perhaps what Y/n needed was not grand gestures or witty banter, but simply honesty.
The next day, Sirius was walking through the black lake, letting his feet walk without any direction, however he realized that he was precisely addressing Y/n who was reading a book in front of the lake. His heart raced as he made his way over, his friends watching with anticipation from a distance.
"Here goes nothing," Sirius muttered under his breath, taking a deep breath to steady his nerves.
As he approached Y/n, she looked up and smiled warmly at him. Sirius felt his legs weak.
''Hey Y/n''
''Hey sirius, what's up?''
''everythings fine, um I wanted to ask you something''
Sirius felt his throat dry and his mind went blank.
''Are you okey sirius? you seem a bit...pale'' Y/n asked doubtfully, standing up and getting closer to Sirius.
''No! I'm good don't worry!'' Sirius was actually planning on pretending to faint, or running away.
''Okey?..Well anyways I also wanted to ask you something''
Sirius was about to open his mouth to let the words out but Y/n interrupted him.
''I was wondering if you'd like to go to Hogsmeade with me this weekend?" Y/n said smiling ear to ear
Time seemed to stand still for Sirius. His eyes widened in shock, his mouth hanging open. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. Did she just ask him out before he could ask her?
Taken by surprise, Sirius took a step back, his heart racing even more. To his surprise, he tripped on a tree root and fell to the ground with a thud.
Laughter erupted in the distance, echoing through the garden. James, Remus and Peter had been responsible for these as they were almost crying of laughter, unable to contain their amusement at Sirius's latest fall.
Sirius lay on the ground for a moment, his face burning with shame. He stood up as quickly as he could, trying to maintain some semblance of composure and dignity.
Y/n rushed over to him, concern mixing with her laughter. "Oh my god!, are you okay?"
Sirius nodded, his cheeks still flushed. "Y-yeah, I'm fine. Just… just caught me by surprise, that's all."
Y/n chuckled softly, offering him a hand up. "Sorry about that. I couldn't resist."
Despite the embarrassment, Sirius couldn't help but grin. "No need to apologize. I… I'd love to go to Hogsmeade with you."
Y/n smiled wildly, relief evident in her eyes. "Great! It's a date then."
Sirius felt a wave of relief and excitement. He had managed to get through another embarrassing moment, but this time he had turned out better than he could have imagined.
As they separated, the rest of the marauders approached him, still laughing at him. James patted him on the back, shaking his head in amusement and hugging him by the side and Sirius couldn't help but do a little victory dance.
Despite all his fumbles and embarrassing moments, he knew one thing for certain: Y/n Potter was worth every stumble and every awkward pause.

Prejudices (young!remus lupin x slytherin! reader)

Summary: Remus is in a relationship with a slytherin and his friends are... NOT happy about it
Warning: Angst, argument between lovers, argument between friends...

---
The soft light of the setting sun filtered through the ancient trees of the Forbidden Forest, casting long shadows on the ground. Remus Lupin stood at the edge of the forest, his heart pounding against his ribcage like a caged bird desperate to escape. He glanced over his shoulder, scanning the clearing for any sign of his friends. He could hear their laughter in the distance, a familiar sound that filled him with both warmth and dread.
“Hey,” a soft voice broke through his thoughts, and he turned to see Y/N approaching, her long Slytherin robes billowing around her. Her dark hair cascaded over her shoulders, and her green eyes sparkled with mischief. “You’re not going to run off again, are you?”
“No,” he said, a smile creeping onto his face. “I just… I was thinking.”
“About what?” she asked, stepping closer. The air between them was charged, electric, filled with unspoken words and the weight of their secret.
“About us,” he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper.
She tilted her head, a playful smirk on her lips. “You mean our relationship that’s destined to cause chaos?”
He chuckled softly, but the laughter died in his throat. “You know how it is. I told them about us, but I can't introduce you to them. They’d never understand.”
Y/N crossed her arms, the playful glint in her eyes replaced with something darker. “And why is that, Remus? Because I’m a Slytherin? Because your friends hate my House?”
“It’s not just that,” he replied, running a hand through his hair, frustration bubbling beneath the surface. “They wouldn’t see past the House rivalry. I don’t want to lose you, but I can’t risk losing them either.”
A flicker of disappointment crossed her face. “So, you’re choosing them over me?”
“No!” He stepped forward, his voice rising slightly. “I’m trying to protect what we have. It’s complicated.”
She scoffed, shaking her head. “Complicated? Or just cowardly?”
“Y/N, please,” he pleaded, his heart racing. “I just need time.”
She took a step back, her expression hardening. “You know what? Maybe we don’t need time. Maybe we just need to face the truth.”
Before he could respond, she turned on her heel and walked away, her robes swishing in the fading light. Remus watched her go, his chest tight with an emotion he couldn’t quite place.
The next day, Remus found himself in the Gryffindor common room, surrounded by his friends. James, Sirius, and Peter were engaged in a game of Exploding Snap, their laughter echoing off the stone walls. But Remus couldn’t concentrate. His thoughts were consumed by YN, by the conversation they’d had, and the rift that was growing between them.
“Oi, Moony! You’re awfully quiet,” Sirius said, glancing up from the game. “What’s up? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
“Just tired,” Remus said, forcing a smile. He picked at his sleeve, avoiding their eyes.
James raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced. “You’ve been off for weeks now. Is it because of that girl Slytherin again?”
Remus’s heart dropped. He had been careful to avoid mentioning Y/N, but it seemed James had picked up on his distracted demeanor. “No, it’s not—”
“Because if it is,” Sirius interrupted, leaning forward, “I’m telling you, Moony, you can do better than a Slytherin. Those snakes will stab you in the back the moment you let your guard down.”
“Yeah, man,” Peter chimed in. “You know they’re all about ambition and power. It’s in their blood.”
Remus clenched his fists, tension coiling in his gut. “You don’t know her, okay? Y/N isn’t like that.”
James’s expression darkened. “Then why are you hiding her? If she’s so great, why not introduce her to us?”
“Because it’s complicated!” Remus snapped, the words spilling out before he could stop them. “You wouldn’t understand.”
“Try us,” Sirius challenged, his jaw set. “We’re your friends, Remus. We care about you.”
“Do you care about me, or do you care about your stupid prejudices?” Remus shot back, his voice rising. The room fell silent, the tension thick enough to cut with a knife.
“Moony, we just want what’s best for you,” James said, his tone softer now, but still firm. “Slytherins are dangerous. You know that.”
“Dangerous?” Remus echoed incredulously. “Or just different? Y/N is not dangerous. She’s smart, funny, and she cares about me. Why can’t you see that?”
Sirius’s face hardened. “Because we know how this ends, Remus. You think you can make it work, but she’ll end up breaking your heart. They always do.”
“I can’t believe you guys,” Remus said, shaking his head in disbelief. “You’re acting like you own me. I’m not a bloody puppet!”
“Then stop acting like a fool!” Sirius shot back, standing up now, his hands clenched at his sides. “You can’t just ignore the truth because it doesn’t fit your little fantasy!”
“Guys, calm down…” Peter stuttered, glancing nervously between them.
But Remus was beyond reason. He felt the weight of betrayal crashing down on him. “Maybe you’re right. Maybe I am a fool for thinking you would support me.”
He turned away, storming out of the common room and into the maze of corridors that led to the dungeons. His heart raced as he navigated the familiar path, each step echoing the turmoil within him.
Y/N was waiting for him by the entrance to the Slytherin common room, her arms crossed tightly across her chest. The moment she spotted him, the tension in her posture visibly relaxed. “You came,” she said, relief flooding her voice.
“Yeah,” he replied, his voice heavy with unspoken words. “But it’s not good news.”
Her expression shifted, concern flickering in her eyes. “What happened?”
“James and Sirius are idiots,” he admitted, running a hand through his hair in frustration. “They… they still don’t approve.”
“Of course not,” she said, her voice laced with sarcasm. “They’re Gryffindors, and I’m a Slytherin. What did you expect?”
“I thought maybe they’d be okay with it,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “But they’re not. They think I’m making a mistake.”
“Are you?” she challenged, her eyes narrowing slightly.
“No! I’m just trying to figure out how to make this work without losing you or them,” he exclaimed, exasperation rising in his chest.
“Maybe you should have thought about that before getting involved with a Slytherin,” she shot back, hurt flashing across her face. “It’s not like I forced you into this, Remus.”
“I never said that!” he argued, frustration spilling over. “I care about you, but they’re my friends—”
“Your friends who don’t care about you! They only care about their stupid prejudices!” YN snapped, her voice rising. “You’re so afraid of losing them that you can’t even stand up for what you want!”
“Maybe I’m just trying to be realistic!” he shouted, the words echoing off the stone walls around them. “You think this is easy for me? Hiding who I care about just because they might not accept you?”
“Then stop hiding!” she yelled, tears welling in her eyes. “You say you care about me, but it feels like you care more about their opinions than about our relationship!”
“I’m trying to protect us!” he exclaimed, his heart racing with anxiety.
“Protect us?” she said incredulously, stepping back as if struck. “You mean protect your friendship with people who don’t even see me as a person! They see me as a stereotype!”
“Y/N, please…” he said, his voice cracking.
“No! You can’t keep playing both sides!” she cried, her voice trembling. “Either you stand by me, or you let me go.”
“Y/N, don’t say that,” he begged, desperation creeping into his voice. “I don’t want to lose you.”
“Then you need to make a choice, Remus,” she said, her expression resolute. “Because I won’t be your secret anymore. I deserve better than that.”
With that, she turned and disappeared into the darkness of the corridor, leaving Remus standing alone, the weight of his choices crashing down on him like a tidal wave.
Days passed, and the rift between Remus and Y/N deepened. The halls of Hogwarts felt emptier without her presence, and every time he saw James and Sirius, the anger bubbled to the surface again. They had no idea how much he was hurting, how much he missed her laughter and her teasing smiles.
“Moony, you’ve got to get over this,” James urged one evening as they both sat in the Great Hall. “There are plenty of girls in our House.”
Remus shot him a glare. “I don’t want anyone else. I want Y/N.”
“Then what are you waiting for?” James asked, leaning back in his seat. “Just tell her you’re done with the secrecy. Bring her here, introduce her.”
Remus slammed his hands on the table, the sound echoing through the hall. “You don’t get it. It’s not that simple!”
“Why not?” James insisted. “If you really care about her, you’ll find a way.”
Remus stared at them, feeling the weight of their expectations pressing down on him. “You want me to choose between you and her.”
“We want you to be honest with us,I'm sure that's what Pads and Wormtail want as well ” James said quietly. “We want to understand.”
“I’m trying,Prongs” Remus said, his voice breaking. “But it’s hard when I feel like I’m fighting everyone I care about.”
“Then make a choice,” James said softly. “You can’t keep living in the middle. Either you stand up for what you want or you let it go.”
Remus looked down at his plate, the reality of James' words sinking in. It was time to make a decision, to confront the truth of his feelings and his loyalties. He knew what he had to do, even if it meant risking everything he had.
Outside, the crisp evening air hit him like a slap. He walked aimlessly, his thoughts a chaotic whirlwind. Memories of YN flooded his mind—the way her laughter would light up a room, the way she challenged him and made him feel alive. He missed her so much it was like a physical ache in his chest.
Just as he rounded a corner, he spotted YN standing by the lake, her figure silhouetted against the moonlight. His breath caught in his throat as he took a step toward her, but she turned away, her posture tense.
“Y/N,” he called softly.
She didn’t respond, staring out over the water, her expression inscrutable.
“Please, can we talk?” he asked, his heart pounding.
After a long silence, she finally turned to face him, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. “What’s there to talk about, Remus? You’ve made your choice clear.”
“I haven’t made any choice,” he replied, stepping closer. “I don’t want to lose you. I’ve been trying to find a way to make this work, but my friends… they don’t understand.”
“Maybe they’re right,” she said, her voice breaking. “Maybe it’s just too complicated for us.”
“No,” he said fiercely, shaking his head. “We can make it work. I want to fight for us.”
“That’s easy for you to say,” she replied, her voice laced with pain. “You’re not the one who has to deal with the fallout of being with a Gryffindor. You don’t know what it feels like to be judged every single day.”
“I know what it feels like to be judged,” he said, desperation creeping into his voice. “I’m a werewolf, YN. I’ve felt that sting my whole life.”
She looked at him, her eyes wide. “But you have friends who support you. I don’t have that. Not now, not ever.”
“You could have me,” he said, stepping closer, his heart pounding. “I want to be with you, but I need you to believe that.”
“Believe what?” she asked, her voice trembling. “That you’ll stand up to your friends for me? That you’ll choose me over them?”
“Yes!” he exclaimed, the words pouring out of him. “I choose you. I choose us.”
“Then why don’t you prove it?” she challenged, her gaze unwavering. “Stop hiding me. Bring me to your friends, face them together. Show me you really mean it.”
Remus’s heart raced at the thought. He had been so afraid of the consequences, of the judgment, but now he saw clearly. YN was worth it. “Okay,” he said, determination filling him. “I’ll do it. I’ll bring you to them.”
A flicker of hope crossed her face, but it was quickly replaced by uncertainty. “And if they don’t accept me?”
“Then we’ll deal with it together,” he vowed, his voice steady. “I won’t let them dictate our happiness.”
She stepped closer, her eyes searching his. “You really mean that?”
“Yes,” he said, reaching for her hand. “I won’t let fear keep us apart anymore.”
YN hesitated for a moment, then took his hand, their fingers intertwining. “Okay, but if they make a scene…”
“They won’t,” he promised, squeezing her hand gently. “I’ll make sure of it.”
With a small smile breaking through her tears, YN nodded. “Then let’s do this.”
The next evening, Remus gathered his courage and headed to the Gryffindor common room with YN by his side. His heart raced as they approached the portrait of the Fat Lady, her gaze scrutinizing them both.
“Password?” she asked, her voice dripping with skepticism.
“caput draconis,” Remus replied, his throat dry.
The portrait swung open, and they stepped inside. The warmth of the room enveloped them, but the laughter and chatter stilled as everyone turned to stare. James, Sirius, and Peter sat at a table in the corner, their expressions shifting from surprise to confusion.
“Moony?” Sirius said, rising to his feet. “What’s going on?”
Remus took a deep breath, feeling YN’s hand squeeze his for reassurance. “I want you all to meet someone,” he said, his voice steady. “This is YN. She’s… she’s my girlfriend. I told you about her”
The silence that followed was deafening. Sirius’s expression hardened, and Peter’s eyes widened with shock. James looked between them, a sligh smile on his face.
“You can’t be serious,” Sirius finally said, disbelief etched on his face. “You brought a slytherin into our commun room?”
“Yes,” Remus said, feeling a surge of defiance. “And I care about her.”
“You know she’s not like us, right?” Sirius pressed, crossing his arms. “She’s a Slytherin.”
“Last time I checked, love doesn’t have a House,” Remus shot back, his heart racing. “She’s a person, just like you and I.”
Peter stepped forward, trying to mediate. “Look, Moony, we just want to protect you. You know how Slytherins can be.”
“Right, because all Slytherins are the same,” Y/N interjected, her voice sharp. “You don’t know me. You don’t know anything about who I am.”
Sirius opened his mouth to respond, but Remus held up a hand. “Let her speak.”
Y/N took a step forward, her confidence shining through. “I’m not here to cause troubles. I care about Remus just like you three, and I’m willing to prove that to you. But I need you to give me a chance.”
“Prove it how?” Sirius asked, skepticism still etched on his face.
“By showing you that I’m not a stereotype,” she replied, her voice steady. “I want to get to know you all, but I can't do it if you’re going to judge me before you know me.”
James looked at Remus, searching his face for a sign of uncertainty. But Remus felt only determination. “She’s right. If you want me to be happy, you have to accept the person I care about.”
The tension in the room was palpable, and for a moment, it felt like everything hung in the balance. Finally, James sighed, running a hand through his hair and adjusting his glasses. “Okay,” he said slowly. “Let’s give her a chance.”
Sirius shot him a look of disbelief. “James, are you serious?”
“Yeah, I am,” James replied, his tone firm. “If Remus cares about her, then we owe it to him and to her to see what she’s really like.”
Remus felt a wave of relief wash over him. “Thank you,” he said, glancing at YN, who looked equally surprised.
“But,” James added, raising a finger, “you better not pull any Slytherin tricks on us, or I swear…”
“I won’t,” YN promised, her voice steady. “I just want to be treated like everyone else.”
“Just don’t expect us to let you win at Exploding Snap,” Sirius added with a smirk.
The tension in the room began to dissipate as the other Gryffindors resumed their conversations, albeit with curious glances at YN. Slowly, she began to relax, and Remus couldn’t help but smile at the small victories.

It was weird falling back into a routine with the man you first considered your friend, then your boyfriend, your fiancé even at some point, but also the man you thought had betrayed you, had been responsible for your best friends’ deaths.
Spending thirteen years apart, during which you thought he was guilty of a crime he didn’t commit, built a wall between the two of you that was difficult to destroy. You spent so many lonely nights slowly carving into your heart that he wasn’t the man you thought he was, only for that idea to be shoved away too when you discovered he was innocent.
Your world was falling to pieces a second time. All this mourning, gone for the wrong person. All this pain, unnecessary.
But when you saw him now, analysing the features you hadn’t seen from so close in such a long time, your heart felt like it was back at peace. Your eyes scanned over the soft eye wrinkles he didn’t have yet as a young man, thirteen years ago, the beard he decided to keep when he spent his youth shaving meticulously. It was almost hard to imagine he was the same man.
“Angel?”
You smiled, in moments like this, it felt like before, like when you just got engaged. You could feel the warm sensation in your stomach that you had missed so much, only the nickname he gave you could make the butterflies fly again.
“Yes, Sirius?”
Sirius sat next to you on the sofa, you had moved to Grimmauld Place for obvious reasons. He wrapped an arm around your shoulders, trying to appear casual about this new (re)found proximity.
But you knew, of course, you did. Even after all this time as strangers, you knew him like the back of your hand. All the stolen touches when he stands next to you while you cook, his cold fingers around your wrist when you’re walking, his body sitting unnecessarily closer to you when you’re reading in bed…
He did this as a teenager, too. Seeking for solace in your touch without asking for it. He preferred stealing a few brushes of your skin against his, here and there, until you initiated the hug.
And apparently, this habit hadn’t disappeared. If anything, it was only stronger now. All these lonely years in a cold cell had only made him long for your touch even more. There was just something about the softness of your embrace that made him feel like he could finally breathe and rest.
You leaned into him, slowly snaking your arms around his torso to pull him closer. He didn’t hesitate a second before curling up by your side, if he could crawl under your skin and melt into one identity with you, he would have.
You rested your cheek on the top of his head, “I’m here,” you whispered, and it felt like he was the 16-year-old boy who woke up from nightmares in the middle of the night again. Your lips brushed his forehead as he managed to snuggle closer, his head tucked in the crook of your neck.
How much he had missed this. He couldn’t count the hours he spent in Azkaban, with his eyes closed, when things got hard and the memory of your hold was his only comfort. He breathed in your scent.
It wasn’t the same perfume as when you were a young woman, he knew that, for you, scents held memories, but at this moment he longed to smell the perfume he loved and cherished. He remembered the flower notes on your scarf that he would steal borrow from you. He could see himself closing his eyes as soon as he got home, knowing you were already there by the scent of you lingering in the room.
He breathed in a second time, adapting to this new perfume of yours, this new version of you. The one with smile lines and wider hips, the one with an ever so slightly deeper voice and a darker hair colour.
Maybe it was because of how much he missed you, but he might like this version better.
But your touch, the one he was starving for for more than a decade, hadn’t changed. You had the same grip on his shoulders, the same safe hold of his body, the same gentle breathing on his forehead.
He couldn’t express how much he had missed this, so when his lips parted but no sound came out, your arms tightened around him “Shh… You don’t need to say anything, I can feel it.”
Was it your voice? Was it the feeling of your warm skin against his? He didn’t know, but he started to cry. A silent tear fell down his cheek until it hit your wool jumper. Once he started, he couldn’t seem to stop.
He had cried in Azkaban, of course, he did and more than once. But these cries were different, they weren’t desperate and heartbroken. They were tender and needed. This moment with you felt like a safe harbour after years of hopelessness and restlessness.
He let out a ragged breath, his heart was sore and swollen but he could feel it slowly healing by your touch. He was a wizard, he had known magic since he was born, but nothing was as magical as the effect of your embrace on his soul. Like a calming balm and a band-aid. A glue keeping all the pieces of his wounded self together.
“I…” he tried “Thank you”
You smiled tenderly at his broken whisper “You don’t have to thank me. I’m here now… I’m not going anywhere… I’m not letting go”
You closed your own eyes too, savouring the moment while it lasted. You felt like crying too, but it wasn’t the moment, he needed you to hold him. You both couldn’t be puddles at the same time, could you?
Sirius pressed his face further to your neck, his wet cheek against your skin. He felt it in the warmth in his chest, in his slow heartbeat and gentle breathing.
He was finally home again.

Summary: You and Sirius have always been enemies. The reason ? You didn't know yourself, he always has been mean to you. You're a Gryffindor pureblood, with very proud parents. The marauders like to annoy you and that makes you change into a person you don't even recognise today, not even your best friend, Regulus. One day you get assigned a punition during detention that you have to do with Sirius. Will your relation get better ? Or Worse ?
Words count : 5 k
You had nothing against Sirius at first. You already met the Black family; Walburga surprisingly accepted your presence. You had quite a good relationship with Regulus. But never could you forget the day you met Sirius.
It was summer before entering Hogwarts, his mother still saw him as a future accomplishment, even if his temper was a little bumpy. It was your first time meeting the Black, you were very shy at that age, always hidden behind your mother. You could never forget that dark mansion. You parents stood by your side, waiting for someone to greet them. You remember the sound Walburga's dress did when she walked into the hall, a sickening smile on her face. Your parents knew her back at Hogwarts. "M/N! F/N! How great it is to see you in such good shape! And who might that young lady be?" She exclaimed. You looked up at your mother and she nodded reassuringly. You stepped in front of the lady of the house and bowed respectfully. "I'm Y/N Spencer, Mrs. Black, and it's an honour to make your acquaintance." She raised her brow in surprise. "Such wonderful manners! I see you raised her by the predicaments of your parents".
Your mother nodded; a bit embarrassed. You did not speak, they were all sat in the living room, you met Orion, such a dark silent man. You had your head hung down low, fidgeting with your fingers, listening half of what was being said, waiting for someone to talk to you. It was your first rule in order to not embarrass anyone and pretend to be perfect: Speak when spoken to.
"So how are the boys, Sirius and Regulus. Haven't seen them since they were toddlers." Your mother asked, sipping her tea. Boys? You were never told about boys. Walburga put dow her cup. "Oh, yes. Kreacher, go get the boys so they can greet our guests."
The elf left, and not even seconds later you heard footsteps coming down the stairs. A young boy with hair black like ebony got into the door frame. His skin was like porcelain, like just a wrong movement and he would break into pieces. For his young age, he had such a great posture. His mother smiled proudly, reaching out her hand for him to get closer. "Regulus, come. May I present to you, Mr. and Mrs. Spencer and their daughter, Y/N."
He nodded in your direction, a soft smile tug at your lips. "Doesn't he have a brother, of the age of Y/N I believe." Your mother interjected. Walburga nodded, a bit changing her demeanour. "You're right... Regulus where is your brother?" Regulus just shook his head. "Forgive me mother, but I have no idea. I passed by his room before coming down, but he was nowhere to be seen." Walburga sighed, seeming tired. "That boy will be the death of me... Kreacher, go fetch me that boy. The elf in question bowed. "Yes, mistress." And he left.
Walburga turned back to her other son. "Now, Regulus, won't you be a good boy and make Y/N visit the house." The boy timidly smiled and nodded. "Yes mother... Follow me... Y/N" You happily followed his trace. You had a bit of trouble, but you were able to get out a few information from him. He was a year younger than you. A shy boy to say the least, you wanted to know if he had any interest, but he did not seem open to reveal them quite yet. The air between you two was cold and the ambiance of the house did not make it any better. However, all of that changed when you arrived at his room. It was neatly ranged, but what you noticed were drawings and encyclopaedias on his desk. You approached it curiously and found yourself completely gawking at his drawings. There were constellations everywhere and you happened to love astrology. To say that he was surprised was the least because usually people around his age would find this subject annoying. His older brother once called him a space nerd for it. He found especially mesmerised by a certain constellation.
Regulus boy shrugged his cheek sightly red. "You can have it if you want."You raised your brows, clearly surprised. "Really?" "Y-Yes, you're the person I've met with so much interest in astronomy." You smiled widely. "Thanks that's really sweet of you." He mumbled a "you're welcome" and you exited the room. As the minute passed, the boy seemed more comfortable with you. You learned that he's always loved astrology. You laughed together and you started to walk backward, in order to face him. You started to question each other about astrology, laughing when you said the answers in sync.
Regulus starting really playing along. "Now the killing question, what is the constellation I gave you and its most powerful star." You smiled in amusement, it was your favourite constellation, but he didn't have to know that. While saying your answer, you started to turn around, closing your eyes in the process, mocking some savant. "It's the constellation of the great dog, and its most powerful star is Sirius-"
You didn't have time to finish your sentence that your face entered in collision with another body. You stumbled backward almost tripping in the process and looked for the source of the impact. "Someone called my name? You raised your eyes and were met with a boy, quite similar to regulus, only older with longer hair. You shook your head, noticing you were staring. "Oh, apologies, I wasn't looking where I was going." The boy smirked and extended his hand to get you on your feet. "I noticed, I'm Sirius, Sirius Black. I don't think we have met before."
"Oh, I'm Y/N Spencer." He suddenly narrowed his eyes. His face which was bright seconds ago turned so dark in such period of time. Regulus shuffled awkwardly next to you, also aware of Sirius' change of demeanour. "Spencer, you say?" his voice as cold as a blizzard. I shifted, clearly embarrassed. "Y-Yes, is there a problem?" His eyes turned even darker. "No. Just don't ever get in my way."
And he disappeared at the corner, pushing pass your shoulder. You didn't know what happened, and neither did Regulus. Truth to be told, Sirius already met some Spencer, and he didn't enjoy the experience. He met your cousins, some wealthy brat who only cared about themselves. They were cruel, it was Sirius' first presentation in the pureblood world, and though he hated it, he hoped it would go without any problems. But the Spencer cousins thought otherwise, they "accidentally" splashed some juice on his shirt, laughing, making everyone notice his ridiculous state. With a swift movement of their wands, they made his shoes grow two times longer when he was waltzing with a charming young lady. He looked like an absolute clown and promised himself not to ever speak or see a Spencer kid without making them regret being born. The fact that he left you unarmed was a present, but that wouldn't last long. If only you knew how much this young boy would change your path.
Now, back in the more recent time. Since you've arrived at Hogwarts, Sirius has made it a living hell. Especially since the next day after being sorted into Gryffindor, your parents sent you a congratulation letter. A letter being the opposite of the howler Sirius received. The look of pity you wore on your face made his vision go red. Later that day he tripped you when you entered class, making you sprawl in the corridor. You remembered a red hair girl and a black-haired boy helping you gather your things. You guessed it: Lily and Severus. You became inseparable and that made only Sirius anger more: you didn't deserve friends, you already had everything. The years went by, the marauders formed, they would always taunt Severus. The normally shy girl you were, gradually transformed into a brave young woman, standing up for her friends, a true Gryffindor. But to Sirius and his friends, it couldn't be, you had everything a Slytherin had, you could not be in Gryffindor, you had something to hide, something that wasn't right. And so, they took everything, turning you robes into Slytherin colour, taunting you in the corridors, making boys ditch you after they asked you out making you sometimes wait in the rain, ruining every relationship you shared. Even your friends started to slip away, Lily started to catch feelings for Potter, Severus distanced his heart broken self. The only person you had left was Reggie. Since Sirius left, he held a somewhat bitterness towards him. He would interfere with the taunting.
That was the breaking point, you snapped, you started to smoke, have hook-ups, sometimes coming to hands when a marauder approached you, getting into detention. It was beginning of sixth year, and you were already begging to be transferred to France. And now you were being paired up with him...
He was now taller than you, the king of the Gryffindor house, a king in bed too apparently, his hair reached his shoulders, and he was currently picking at it in annoyance. This was going to be a long ride. "Spencer." He noded coldly. "Black." You spat back, knowing he hated it. He ran away from home during summer. "Seems like we must bear each other more often now..." Sirius' jaw clenches at the name but then he smirks. "You seem to love the idea of me, Spencer. You scoff. "Not in a million years. I wouldn't dream to spend my time with a whoreman." He raised a brow. "You can talk, Spencer, heard Parker had the worst night in his entire life."
"Knob." "Minger." "Tosser." "Slag." "Dog with two dicks." "Trollop."
"Enough! Both of you, two hours of detention and 10 points from Gryffindor for each." Slughorn shouted, red in the face. You groaned in annoyance and let Slughorn return back to his class. When class finally ended, you jumped out of your seat, wanted nothing more than to find Reggie to let your feelings out.
"See you in detention, Spencer!" He yelled that throughout the corridor, making you wince and groan. You soon found Regulus where you expected him to be: at the astronomy tower. As soon as he saw your face, he knew what you were going to ramble about, so he let you... You spoke about how he was annoying for about 30 minutes, Regulus just quietly hummed from time to time, not really listening to what you said. After all, every single week, you would have that kind of moment where you couldn't stop complaining about his older brother.
"Can you even believe he said that? Reggie? Are you even listening to me ?" Regulus did not bother looking up from his book. "Not really..." You huffed at this. "Rude..."
Regulus sighed and closed his book, finally looking at you. "N/N, it's my brother we're talking about." "Yeah, yeah, I know, but still... You could listen to me!" And here you go again complaining about how he was your only friend, and you hoped for a better communication, blah, blah, blah. Regulus just shook his head and interrupted you after more five minutes. "Look at your watch N/N." You frowned. "My watch? Why in hell would I look at my- Oh shoot, I'm gonna be late for detention." You picked up your bag and started running towards the stairs. "Have fun!" "Don't count on it."
You arrived, out of breath at the detention class. You looked around and found yourself relieved that Sirius wasn't there yet and head now no reason to taunt you about your late arrival. "Running late, Spencer?" You shrieked away from the sound and the warm breath on your neck, only to find an amused Sirius Black.
You punched him in the chest "What is wrong with you!" Sirius cackled. "What? Scared you?" "First; in your dreams, and second, you don't talk into people ear for no reason." Sirius smirks, looking you up and down. "Well, I just did."
"Now, now, may you take your sits." A voice interrupts. You both jumped in surprise from the new arrival of the head-teacher. You obeyed and took sits across from each other. McGonagall took place before you. "So, I decided, you would have two hours of detention for two whole weeks." "What ?!" you exclaimed in sync. McGonagall sighed and shook ger head. "And before you say anything, you will do a project that you will present to me..." You raised your brows, your eyes narrowed, knowing the worse was to come. "And what might the subject be?" She smiled. "What is the true limit between hate and love ?"
Sirius groaned in annoyance. "Aw, come on Minnie, Spencer here doesn't even know what love is." "Like you know what family is?" you said through your teeth. He glared at you.
McGonagall shrugged straightening her gown. "I'll take my leaving, do whatever you want, but by the end of those weeks, I want this fifteen pages essay on my desk, or you will have another two weeks plus another subject along with the one you already have." And with that, she left you both, stunned in the middle of the classroom. You looked at each other before turning around furiously, behind your back, you heard some shuffles, you turned and saw that Sirius was leaving.
"What are you doing?" Sirius turned to you, looking at you like it was obvious. "What am I doing? I'm leaving... You take care of the essay." My first clenched into tight balls, ready to punch him. "You think I will do the work for you?! Sit your ass back here before I hex you to next year." He didn't object because he knew perfectly you would do what you promised. Once he dared not to follow your order under some threat and he got out with a broken nose.
"So, what do we do genius?" You sighed at his never-ending sarcasm. "Well, the work we were asked to do. You do friendship, I do hatred." You passed him a parchment. After a few minutes, you looked up and saw him staring blankly at his parchment. You sighed heavily; you were gone for a long evening. You frowned. "What's up?" "I can't seem to write a thing; I can't formulate love."
Him? This boy with his literal lovestruck girl fan club, he can't formulate love? "Well, what place friendship took in your life. What impact did it have? What makes a good friend, lover? Got it?" "Yeah, I guess? But there's a specific word I can't seem to find that describes it perfectly." "Maybe, it'll come back later..."
He smiled at you, that was the first sincere smile he sent your way since that day almost seven years ago. And that went on that way. Every day, after class, you would find an empty class to work on your subject. The marauders were surprised to find their friend happily going to detention. The black-haired boy didn't tell them about the essay and the paired chore.
"Y/N! Look!" He was making a little paper bird fly around the class. But you did not look up for that reason. He called you by your name, not your last name, it never happened. And part of you hated the fact that you liked how your name sounded in his mouth. "What?" he frowned at your puzzled expression. "You never did that..." He bent his head to the side in question, his hair flowing a bit away from the improvised bun he made with his wand. "Did what?" "My name, you never called me by my name... You always call me: Spencer, or Trollop, but never Y/N." His cheeks got a bit red from your remark, but he smirked. "What? Do you prefer princess?" I blush a bit and shove his shoulder jokingly. "Shut up." He cackled but got a bit more serious. "Now your turn." You stopped in your giggle. "What?" "Say my name."
You raised your brows in surprise. "In your dreams maybe." You said, returning to the parchment. You heard his chair making a rackling sound on the ground and a shadow appeared upon you. You looked up and he was hovering you, his two hands on the table. "Uh-Wha are you doing?" his eyes narrowed "Say. It." You looked at him like he was crazy. "No, you-" He got closer to your face, merely inches away. "Say it for me, princess~" your cheeks got hot at this. You sputtered on your sounds. "S-Sirius." He suddenly smirked, winking and returning to his original place. You stood there completely shocked... You huffed a chuckle at his obvious flirting, the two whores of the school in the same room... what a duo.
From that day, he started to get closer to you, he felt like a connection, and you felt it too. Inside this class, you were Y/N and Sirius, two pureblood Gryffindors with surprisingly a lot of common points. But as soon as you were out of the room you were Black and Spencer, the well-known enemies.
He didn't know when he started, when he started to look for your eyes in class or just your silhouette. When he started to notice the sound of your voice when you whispered something to Lily in class, when he started to notice how you played with your quill in class, or how many boys would send you notes during potion. He didn't but the marauders did, they saw his gaze change.
A week later, he turned around looking at you, while you were writing furiously. "Sooo... Y/N. Any boyfriend yet?" You clenched your jaw. "You know I don't, you ruined every date I have." He nodded looking a bit ashamed at your paper. "I meant no crush?" You finally looked up from your paper. "Sirius, what are you trying to do?" he scratched his neck. "Uh- a conversation?" You narrowed your eyes. "Okay... Well, I have no love interest at the moment. Do you?" He froze at your sentence but regained his smug posture. "Never! That's funniest part." "Make them think you are attached?" "Exactly." You both chuckled. "You know Sirius... You never told me why you hated me so much." He stopped in his track. How could he tell you it wasn't really your fault but his pride was in the way. "Well-" he got cut off when James entered the room. "Pads, we need you, Snivellus again." He clenched his fists. These days, Severus has been annoying Lily and Remus. He got up, forgetting the assignment. You followed them, knowing nothing good could come up.
Both bolted towards next to the shrieking shack. There, you saw a few green dots with a few reds. You soon recognised them to be a Slytherin gang with Regulus and Severus and others, against a panicked Peter, Remus and Lily. You arrived after James and Sirius did, they disarmed them. You noticed Regulus and Peter were trying to calm the whole thing but became stiff when the two other Gryffindor arrived. James started to shout, being defensive about his girl, it all started to transform into a fit of shouts, all of them argued. You tried to calm them all. Then suddenly, a word rung out louder than any other "You filthy little mudblood."
Everyone stopped, turning to a furious Snape. James immediately took action, hexing him. You watched in horror as the Slytherin flied away. The whole Slytherin gang, except Regulus, raised their hands towards James. The Gryffindors reciprocated, except for Lily, Remus and you. You all tried to calm everyone. "Guys, let's all calm down." Remus said, over the tense silence. They did not budge. "James, it's no use, put that wand down!" Lily exclaimed, fearing they would get hurt. "Sirius, put the wand down." You tried to say, hoping he would finally listen to you. He looked at you, a bit surprised but with a small sorrow in his eyes.
Regulus suddenly stepped up, trying to reason the rest. But he did a move that frightened his older brother, who had for only reaction to hex him. "Reggie!" You shouted, running where he landed. You took his head on your lap while he groaned in pain. "Reggie! Can you hear me?! Where does it hurt?!"
Sirius was shocked by what he did. He tried to take a step towards the two of you. "No! Don't get closer!" you shouted at him, tears welling up in your eyes. He stopped when he noticed the tears. His heart pang a little. There you were, holding his brother in your arms, crying for him, protecting him, for what he has done. What did he do wrong to not be in his brother place? He took a step back. "Y/N-"
You did not listen to him, giving Regulus your full attention. You didn't hear the fuming Slytherin mumbling a curse, a forbidden one. You only noticed Sirius stepping up before your crouched down body, paring the curse. That's when your brain registered what happened, Sirius just prevented you from being struck by the cruciatus curse. You looked at him shocked, as he turned back to you. "You okay?" You don't have time to answer that Regulus groans while trying to sit up. "Reggie! Don't move! Lucius, can you help me bring him to Madam Pomfrey?" The blond reluctantly accepted. And Sirius watched as you disappeared for the hospital wing.
"Pads, you okay?" James finally stepped up; Sirius jumped. "Yeah, yeah. Let's get going..." he started to walk back to the castle, leaving his friends worried.
During the next week, you avoided Sirius. You sent him a howl, telling him he didn't have to come to detention with you anymore since you had already finished the essay. He tried to talk to you, but everytime he came into your view, you sped off somewhere. His mood was at the lowest, and his friends were worried. Just a week ago he was on his best mood and now... he didn't want to do pranks anymore.
Slowly sadness turned into confusion, then anger. He did not do anything wrong! It was an accident. You were a Gryffindor, you should be on their side, not his brother's.
One afternoon, he was walking with the marauders next to the Black Lake, when he heard a distinct laugh. You were with Regulus, next to a tree, while he was telling you what seemed to be the funniest story ever. You were leaning on his shoulder, giggling softly. It only woke his anger. Why were you laughing with him? His brother who had that pureblood mania anchored in his head while you didn't. If anything, you had more common points with Sirius, so why him?
He noticed how you touched, how you looked at each other, smiling softly, hugging. He was sure of it now, you loved his brother, like his parent did. Like everyone he used to know did. You were no good compared to those purebloods.
He got red in anger and started speed walking towards the two of you, leaving the rest of his friend confused as to why he bolted away. Seeing the scene, the rest of the marauders stayed close on his tail. Regulus and you didn't notice them coming your way, too focused on the story Regulus was telling you.
With a flick of his wand, Sirius made the book Regulus held fly away. You both looked up confused. "Spencer! Interrupting something?" he said with a cold tone, the marauders got to their level, a foot behind him, still very confused. "Sirius, what are you doing?" you said in confusion, avoiding his gaze. "Stopping you from fucking my brother." All of you looked at him in shock. You stood up menacingly. "What did you say?" "I said I don't want a whore like you getting closer to my brother."
"I don't know what you're-" "I always knew you were a slut, but to this point... Fucking someone a year younger than you..." This time you were really taken aback, Regulus stood up. "Sirius, stop it-" "So, now you care about him?" You interrupted. "Because last time I checked you abandoned him." Sirius' fists clenched in anger. "What. Did. You. Say?" "Don't make me repeat myself..."
"Sirius, calm down..." Remus tried to say. "Shut up Remus! This is between me and Spencer here." He spat back, not breaking eye contact. "You worthless bitch..." "Why are you like this..." "Because I despise you to my very core..." You took a deep shaky breath. The boys took a step forward, wanting to stop their friend to say something he'll regret. You shook your head, the words slipped out, out of pure anger. "You're no Gryffindor, you're even worse than your mother."
He saw red. He muttered a spell, sending you in the lake. "Y/N!" Regulus shouted. You did not know how to swim. The Slytherin ran towards the water, running into it but soon stopping because he did not know how to swim either. The marauders look at him in confusion as to why he was panicking so much. Then they saw you did not come back to the surface. Regulus turned to his brother in full panic "She can't swim you idiot!"
You, on the other side, started to panic. Your robe was preventing you from doing any proper movement. You debated against it, your lungs burning. You reached the surface for a mere second, screaming for help as water was entering your throat.
James was the first to take action. He took off his robe and ran across the dock, dipping in the cold water. He swam quickly to you. Black dots were starting to cover your vision because of the lack of oxygen. You couldn't debate anymore, you let go, the water swallowing you.
Sirius' heart clenched when he saw you slowing down your debating movements the disappearing completely under the surface. What has he done?
You felt two strong pair of arms circling around, pulling you back up. You barely felt it bringing you back to the dock, laying you down. You heard a few quick steps coming your way on the dock. A few different voices. "N/N!" Regulus... "Y/N can you hear us?" James... "She's not breathing!" Peter... "Give her space..." Remus... Then a force pulled out the water out of your lungs, making you cough. You slowly opened my eyes, the light aggressing your sight. Remus helped you sit up as you coughed away all the water. Yourbreathing was a bit weird, and you were pale, almost blue but you were alive. "Y/N, are you okay?" Remus asked you, and you just nodded, still panting a bit. Regulus held you tight, clearly worried. "N/N, I'm so sorry, I couldn't help you." "It's okay Reggie, you don't know how to swim either. I'm here." He hugged you even tighter.
You saw Sirius, a few feet away, looking down. You got up to your feet, wobbling a bit. "Y/N, I'm so sor-" You pushed him violently backwards. "What did I ever do to you?!" You were drenched but Sirius could still see the tears streaming down your face. "Y/N, I didn't know-" "I could have died! You fucking idiot !" Regulus came behind you, placing a calming hand on your shoulder. "Y/N, calm down." "No! I don't know what I ever did to you. But know that from now on, I will stop trying, stop trying to be a little part of your life! I hate you Sirius Black!" You ran pass him to the castle, Regulus hot on your tail.
Sirius stayed like that unmoving, fixing the spot you were before. Hate him? He was thinking about what happened in the spent of ten minutes. You almost died, because of him, because he was selfish, because he was jealous... Because he loved you...

In my French class, two girls were talking about ATYD, so, naturally, I had to notify them I also know the gay men. I couldn’t work out a way to do it, and panicked when they started walked out of the class. As a normal, functioning piece of society, I coughed excessively, blurted ‘CRIMSON RIVERS’, then threw myself at a table in embarrassment.

Y/N MALFOY
Friday, 11th of December 1977
I sat in Transfiguration, watching the snow fall rather than paying attention to Professor McGonagall or the lesson at hand. We were supposed to be turning our fairy cakes into fairies, and after a few attempts my mind had wandered. I knew I'd probably get chastised for it, but there was so much going on in my mind.
The first was the Yule Ball. I'd been so surprised when Remus had asked me that I'd said yes automatically and embarrassed myself slightly. I hoped that he didn't think about how desperate I'd been.
The second thing I'd been thinking about was Remus (even though the two were sort of interconnected). Over the past couple of days he'd seemed agitated and fidgety. He'd zoned out a lot and appeared to struggle to hold a conversation. Maybe he was having trouble sleeping, or was stressing about his N.E.W.T.s? I was sure he didn't need to stress that hard – he was the smartest person in his year, and he studied like it, too.
The third (and most frightening) thought plaguing my mind was my parents. I hadn't heard from them – or my brother – in quite some time now. Luckily I was staying at Hogwarts for Christmas due to the Yule Ball, and I wouldn't have to see them. But their silence was putting me on edge.
"Miss Malfoy, your fairy cake still appears to be mostly edible."
I looked up to see McGonagall standing in front of my desk. She wasn't wrong – the only difference to my cake was that it had wings, and was attempting to fly away. Unfortunately it was too heavy for the wings, resulting in the cake just wobbling around.
"Yes, sorry Professor," I mumbled, flicking my wand at the cake.
Well, at least it had a head now. But it was utterly terrifying. Regulus snorted from the desk beside me, but shut up after a sharp glance from the professor. McGonagall observed my cake for a moment longer before walking away, leaving me to throw it at Regulus's head, a high-pitched shriek escaping him. McGonagall didn't even turn around.
It wasn't just me who wasn't paying that much attention. Everyone was ready for the Christmas holidays, and it showed. While barely anyone in my year was going home for the holidays, every student was still buzzing with excitement. McGonagall could see this, and the usually strict witch didn't comment on any of it, instead just giving pointers and clarification.
When the bell for the end of the lesson finally rang, there was a flurry of motion as everyone jumped up and left the classroom, talking excitedly. I grinned at Regulus, as we left, excited for the holidays.
I had no idea what the next day would bring.
It started out normal. I woke up late, glad for the sleep in. I walked down to the common room with Lily, where we met Regulus. Lily informed us that the other boys wanted a longer sleep in, so we went down to the Great Hall, which was decked in Christmas decorations. Most of the younger students had left to go home, but those who were staying for the Yule Ball mingled around. Instead of the four house tables, there were two, leaving us all to interact. Luckily it seemed that the Slytherins had claimed the table to the left, so Lily, Reg and I went to the one on the right.
We stayed at breakfast for a while, eating at a leisurely pace, not worrying about getting to class. The boys arrived late, and I noticed the absence of a certain someone.
"Where's Remus?" I asked.
The three gave each other a quick glance, before James addressed me.
"Hospital Wing," he answered, spreading jam on his toast.
He raised his head and looked me dead in the eye, and I remembered the conversation we'd had a month previous. About Remus, and his secret illness. Had it flared up again? Once more, I was curious as to what it could be. Perhaps a recurring case of the Dragon-pox? It sounded ludicrous, but I was so hypnotised by it. I wanted to know what was going on.
Curiosity killed the cat, a part of my mind whispered.
I didn't question James any further, instead simply nodding in understanding. Regulus looked between James and I carefully, reading our faces and body language. I realised that our friend group had gone quiet, and that James and Sirius seemed to be having some sort of telepathic conversation.
Luckily, Mary and Marlene came down and sat with us, filling our silence with their energetic laughs. Well, really just Mary's laugh, as Marlene rested her head against the table with a groan.
"You've had a late start," Lily said slyly. "Do anything fun last night?"
"Party in the Ravenclaw common room," Mary replied, heaping bacon onto her plate. "Marlene didn't want to leave."
Marlene let out a series of grunts and Mary stroked her hair affectionately.
"Thanks for inviting us," Sirius scoffed.
Mary smirked. "Just not cool enough, I'm afraid."
Sirius rolled his eyes and Marlene let out another string of incomprehensive words. Mary seemed to understand, though, because she just chuckled.
"Don't worry, Marls. I know you only wanted to stay because of hottie Steve," Mary grinned.
Marlene smacked her best friend in the arm, finally lifting her head. She glared at Mary, but only half-heartedly.
"You know I was only there for you."
"And a certain Slytherin."
Marlene threw her friend a withering glare, but Mary smiled warmly at her friend before heaping food onto her plate. "Eat up. It'll make the hangover better."
Breakfast passed quickly and we all hung out in the Gryffindor common room, playing various games. James and Sirius seemed to be nearly asleep. The same couldn't be said for Peter, though – he'd fallen asleep face-first into the couch.
It was suspicious that they were all so tired – what had they been doing last night? They hadn't been at the party – they'd all gone to bed early, and Sirius had been upset that Mary hadn't invited them. Was Remus being sick tied into this, somehow? Were they maybe just up late, worrying about their friend?
It was just after lunch when Remus arrived in the common room, and smiled slightly at everyone before sitting next to Peter on the couch. The other three marauders as well as Lily all gave him concerned looks, but he shook his head subtly. Questions bubbled up inside me, but I kept my mouth firmly shut. I didn't want to make him uncomfortable – especially not in front of so many people.
Night time rolled around quickly and I lay in my bed in the Gryffindor Tower, staring up at the ceiling. Everyone else was asleep – I could hear their even breaths. I couldn't sleep, couldn't stop thinking about Remus, and his illness. What could it be? The thought plagued my mind, and I wished I had an answer. I didn't want to invade his privacy, but I was just so curious. Did it have something to do with his many scars? I knew he wore jumpers a lot to cover them up. Most of them were massive – there was one that stretched all the way from his collarbone down his navel. I'd noticed it when we'd gone swimming at the lake.
Curiosity killed the cat, my inner voice told me again.
I rolled over and faced the window, looking out and into the starry night beyond. The moon was full last night, and now a sliver of the glowing sphere had faded.
My mind drifted to James's words. Remus's illness, and that he didn't like to talk about it. I could never ask him – but I wanted to know. Why had it flared up, exactly a month later? And why had it taken him out for only a night? Why didn't it last longer?
The light of the moon filled the dorm room, and I stared up at it, trying to figure it out. Remus's illness, flaring up after a month, only his close friends knew...
The moon looked down at me, as if it knew the answer, as if it were mocking me. Mocking me, mocking me...
I was nearly asleep when it clicked. The moon. A month. The scars.
I sat bolt upright in bed, my eyes still on the moon, feeling much more awake now.
Scars all over his body. Scars from claws. The claws of an animal. A month since his last "flare-up" – or a whole moon cycle. From full moon to full moon.
Remus Lupin was a werewolf.

Streams of light trickled down your face, soft skin slick with sweat that reflected the natural glow beaming from the window above. A beating pulse ran through your head, only worsening with every slight move you made to sit up in a bed that wasn’t your own.
You groaned at the feeling of hospital sheets weighing your body down, cascading down your form to pool around your hips as you straightened your back to stretch.
Your body ached with harsh evidence of the night before, and a pained cry bounced around the walls as you twisted and turned. A cry that was not your own.
Blinking once, twice, you turned your attention to the figure sat beside you, positioned to mirror you in a bed adorned with thin sheets that had crumpled under the weight of a restless sleep.
Remus Lupin stared wide-eyed at your torn body after stretching a muscle or two, gaze flickering from your face to the scars trailing down your back. You observed him with a similar curiosity, memorising every cut and tear blessing his soft skin.
“Seems we both got into some trouble, then…” you mused, voice laced with the remnants of sleep. The Gryffindor gazed at you with a shy blush dancing on each cheek, smiling bashfully despite his aching pains.
His gaze fell below yours once again, eyes growing wider before looking away towards his own torso. You followed his previous stare with a puzzled expression before grabbing at the sheets around you to cover your exposed bra, blushing in a deep embarrassment that Remus could only describe as endearing.
“I suppose you also…transform?” He said cautiously, careful to not expose himself as an Animagus if he misjudged you. “Yeah I- transform,” you responded with his own word choice, “Though sometimes I can’t control it, last night wasn’t meant to happen…” you trailed off.
He gave you a pitiful smile, shifting to face you while stretching his arm behind his neck, “I know what you mean, I transform every full moon…” he hints.
Remus was a quiet, caring boy, completely unlike his Animagus form. You had spoken a handful of times before about your shared love for Defence Against the Dark Arts. You had clearly underestimated your overwhelming similarities that you unpicked like the sleeves of an unraveling sweater over the unlikely pillow talk that followed your chance encounter.
You quickly discovered that you were the sly, red fox to his dark, brooding wolf, a fact that made you all the more drawn to the boy. You carefully moved to sit on his hospital bed despite your growing pains, whispering in soft understanding as you both awaited Madam Pomfrey’s dotting care.

A few months later and the leaves have shifted to a golden hue since that bright summer’s morning, only visible under the full moon. You stalked through the forbidden forest, walking in line with Remus’ large dorm.
Aching from a night of battles and mischief, your sleek auburn body began to shift uncomfortably in your pace as you found yourself becoming more human by the minute.
You had grown all but inseparable with the werewolf after that fateful morning, quickly falling into a comfortable routine of tracing each other’s scars while muttering praises of admiration.
The bright moon illuminated your path, your boyfriend’s fierce eyes softened with a lidded gaze under the rays of light.
The sun threatened to tip over the horizon in a mere few hours as you slunk home side by side with the strong wolf. You fought back sleep, foxy red hair shining in Hogwarts’ glow as you clambered along the stone path.
You had never longed for the awkward feeling of hospital fabrics across your aching body as much as you did on this tiring night. Your monthly visits to hospital beds were no longer lonely as you entered hand in hand with the tall boy every time, relaxing under the cooling touch of mattress to skin.
Fully transformed and gripping the walls of the castle, you groaned as you began to sulk in the direction of Madam Pomfrey, as you had done every other treacherous night out.
“L-love, wait a minute,” Remus called in a stutter, “why don’t we just tend to ourselves tonight?”
Stopping in your tracks, you pondered his proposition for a moment, head aching as you turned to look between your boyfriend and the entrance to the hospital wing further down the hall.
“I’ll fix you up while you tend to me. We…we can fall asleep in each other’s arms, just for one night,” he continued to hiss and groan, holding his side with one hand while reaching for you with the other, “Like a- a normal couple…”
Silently, you nodded at the pleading boy with a pained smile, moving into lean against his tall body, adorned with scars. You limped in tow towards the Gryffindor dorms, contact unwavering at his decorated side.
——————— ⋆☆ ˚⟡˖ ࣪ ———————
The door to the Marauder’s dorm closed with a soft thud, Remus making sure to not alert his roommates to your arrival.
You tossed yourself onto his bed, closing the surrounding curtains as Remus fetched various remedies from his desk. He slid between the fabric enclosure as you muttered a silencing charm before letting out a pained sigh.
Remus made quick work of your wounds, applying ointment to your bare back before you did the same. The night air pushed a refreshing breeze through the dorm’s open window that shifted the fabric surrounding you like waves over land.
Overwhelmed with relief from the mutual healing, you pushed yourself down to splay across the bed, joining your boyfriend with your head to his pillow.
“We are a normal couple, you know,” you murmured, “well, as normal as we can get. Hospital wing visits will never change that.” Remus gazed into your glossy eyes, slick with sleep. “I know, love, I know. It’s just- nights like these make me want to fall asleep with my girl in my arms, like real people do…”
You hummed at his reply, lips forming a soft smile as you inched closer to the werewolf. “We are real. This is real.” You planted a delicate kiss to his pink lips, his eyes fluttering closed at the contact, in sync with your own.
“This is real.”
You encircled his legs with your own, blending your face with his chest and your hands with the back of his neck. He nuzzled into your hair, muttering sweet nothings as you drifted to sleep.
“I love you, sweet fox,” he spoke softly, only to be met with the quiet snores of his sleeping girlfriend, before joining you in slumber.

Routine—a very familiar word to Remus. His days were the same. Wake up, go to work, go home, shower, then sleep. He ate the same thing for breakfast and the same thing for lunch. Dinner was the only thing he frequently changed—maybe one day, he would have pasta, and the next, he would have chicken. He hung out with friends on Saturday, and they went to the same pub every time. The topics were usually the same. Sirius met someone new, someone they claimed to be "The One," only for that person to leave their life. James usually talked about training, Lily, and updates on her pregnancy. Since school ended, things had become... predictable.
You walked into the rickety old record shop, intent on finding your favorite album. It broke on the move to the UK, and you needed it desperately.
Upon hearing the bell ring, Remus looked up. It was part of his routine—to see who had entered his shop—and there you stood, tote bag in hand with messy, windblown hair.
After searching through the Rock section for ages, you practically squeal when you see the album.
Remus looks up as you walk to the counter, "Hi."
"Hi," You smile. Your accent throws Remus off, and he smiles.
He looks at the record, then puts it down, "We have this in a white vinyl," He says, "I— I didn't mark it as colored, so you probably didn't see it. I can go grab it for you?"
You eagerly nod, "That would be fantastic!"
He stands, and you realize how tall he is—it's like he's towering over you.
A moment later, he returns with the other record, "They're hard to come by," He scrawls something on the record sheet, then rings up the album.
You thank him and pay, leaving him to wonder if you'll be back.
The next time you see him, he's with a pretty girl. She's got bleached blonde hair and a cute button nose. She's beautiful. Of course, you recognize the tall man—how could you not? He and the girl make their way to the counter; they both order.
"For Remus," A woman calls out.
Remus—that's his name.
Remus steals glances at you the entire time he's at the coffee shop.
"Who's that?" Marlene asks with a coy smirk.
"I don't know. Came into the shop a couple of weeks ago."
"Oh, so you have a little crush." Marlene is full-on smirking now.
Remus goes red, "What? No." He shakes his head, "No," He repeats, trying to reassure himself that he doesn't have feelings for you.
"Sure," Marlene mutters, taking a sip of her drink.
Remus rolls his eyes.
About a month passes by until you see one another again. You walk into the shop. Remus looks up when the bell rings, and he smiles.
Sirius is there today, and they go up to you.
"What're you looking for?"
You answer, and he leads you to the section as if you don't know the alphabet. He doesn't mean it that way, you know that.
Still, you tease them about it, and their face goes stark red, "Sorry. I just— Sometimes record shops can be confusing in how they order things. Like, when it goes from 'C' to 'D,' does the 'D' section continue on the other side, or does it continue straight across? You know?"
"I'm kidding around," You smile, "I've been here before. Granted, it was just once, but I know how it works. Thank you, though."
"But of course," Sirius curtsies, "Anything for you..."
"Y/n," You introduce yourself.
"I'm Sirius. Like the star," He clarifies, "Like, that's my name. S-i-r-i-u-s," They spell out.
You giggle, "Nice to meet you, Sirius."
"Nice to meet you. I love your silly accent, by the way."
"You're the one with the silly accent," You shoot back.
"Not when my accent is outnumbering yours."
You tilt your head and hum, "Strangely, I understand what you mean."
"It'd be concerning if you didn't."
"Do you frequent this shop a lot?" You ask, flipping through albums.
"My friend is the owner." Sirius shrugs.
You perk up, "Remus?"
Sirius quirks their brow, "You know him?"
You get hot, "No."
He narrows his eyes, "So, how do you know his name is Remus?"
"Well," You whisper, "I came in a while ago. He was really nice when I checked out. Then, a couple of weeks later, I saw him at a coffee shop, and they said his name when his drink was ready."
"You're a creep," Sirius raises his eyebrows.
"No!" You argue.
"Such a creep." Sirius begins walking away; you rush to follow him, "I'm telling him." He says.
You begin to panic, "Wait! No!"
Sirius keeps walking to the front.
"Sirius," You whine, "Stop!"
"Remus!"
You silently will him to stop.
"Remus!" Sirius calls again.
"Lovely lady over here has something to tell you," He smirks.
If looks could kill, Sirius would be six feet under.
"I just– um–" You sputter out, "I just wanted to thank you for helping me with the record last time I was here."
You swear he blushes, but you don't want to look to find out.
"It was no problem," He smiles, "Maybe I could give you a call if any of their other records come in?"
Sirius smirks from the sidelines.
"Um..." It takes a moment to process, "Sure." You nod assertively, "Yeah. I would love that!"
Remus's world has turned upside down—you keep him on his toes. He stays up because, maybe, you'll call tonight. You eat lunch with him sometimes, and gone are the days when he eats the same thing every day. Gone are the days when he closes up shop at 7:00. Gone is routine.
"Do you want to have dinner tonight?" You ask, wrapping the cord around your finger.
"I'm actually going out," Remus responds. You frown, and your imagination runs wild. What if he's going on a date?
"Hello?" He asks, and you realize you've blocked him out.
"Huh? Sorry?"
"I asked if you wanted to come with me. You can meet my mates. If you want." He spits out. Saying it once is nerve-wracking enough; saying it twice is terrifying because what if you say no? What if you don't want to meet his friends? What if–
"I'd love to!" You cut his frantic thoughts off, and his heart swells.
"Really?" He asks.
"Of course!"
So, now, you're standing in front of a random pub, wondering if he's pranking you. It's been about five minutes, and you know that's not a long time to wait, but your anxiety is getting the better of you.
Then, five turns to fifteen, and you're wondering how pathetic you look.
"Y/n?"
Your head whips to the door, "Sirius? When'd you get here?"
Sirius checks their wrist like they're checking a watch, "'Bout half an hour ago. Did the dimwit not tell you to meet us inside?"
You shake your head, "He said to meet him at the bar. So, I guess he didn't quite specify." You shrug.
"Well, come on in," He holds the door open for you.
You thank Sirius and look around for Remus. He's not hard to spot, and Sirius jogs over to their booth before whispering something into Remus's ear. He looks up and smiles brightly.
"You're here!" He exclaims.
"You're here." You say, tone almost scolding him.
Sirius whispers something else to him.
His face drops, "Oh... sorry for not telling you to meet us inside." His mouth quirks to one side in a guilty expression.
You smile, "It's okay. I forgive you." You sit next to him.
"Oh, thank god," He rests his hand on his chest, "A pretty girl being mad at me would've been my death."
Heat blossoms in your chest.
"So..." James begins, "Now that flirt time is over, can I say hello?"
"Ha!" Sirius barks out, "Flirt time!"
Remus gets warm, "This is James, another one of my school friends. James, this is y/n."
All James says is: "You're his lock screen, y'know?"
Remus kicks him under the table.
"I mean–" James smiles, "Hello, it's nice to meet you. I have never seen your face before."
"Smooth," Sirius whispers to James.
You smile at Remus's red face.
"Ignore him, please?" He begs.
You nod.
Sirius and James tell you embarrassing stories about Remus for the rest of the night, and the boy starts to regret introducing you to them as a pair.
At the end of the night, he drops you off.
Rubbing his face, he sighs, "I hope they weren't too much."
You smile brightly, and Remus feels like he could fall to his knees, "I had an amazing time. They're really fun, Remus."
You leave him with a kiss on the cheek—he puts his hand up to the spot and smiles the whole way home.
"I've missed you," You say into the phone.
"I've missed you, too. You should just let me come over." Remus begs for the umpteenth time.
"I don't want to get you sick," You frown, "That would be horrible."
"It wouldn't be the end of the world. We could quarantine together," He smirks, "I could make you soup, and we could cuddle together on the couch and watch some ridiculous rom-com."
"Take a girl out on a date first!" You joke.
"I would if you weren't so busy being poorly." Remus groans.
"So you're asking me out on a date?" You smile and do a little happy dance.
"I guess I am."
He's smug, and you can tell.
A week later, you sit in a fancy restaurant—the kind where the prices aren't even on the menu. Remus is fidgety. He's wearing his nicest button-down, and you think it looks funny on him. He gets red at your comment and looks down at the table with pursed lips.
"I just meant that I'm so used to you wearing those comfy sweaters. You look good, though." You earnestly smile at him.
"You look nice tonight, yourself."
"Well, I'm going on a date with this charming boy. I wanted to impress him."
"I hear he's very impressed."
You insist on paying, but he won't let you. As soon as you pull out your wallet, he snatches it from you.
He kisses you before leaving you at your car, and you don't want it to stop. It's soft and tender, and it's everything you hoped it would be.
One date turns to two, which turns to five, and now you're anxiously pacing in your flat. You're dating Remus; you have been for a few months, and you're not sure when it's an appropriate time to ask the question, but you'll ask tonight. Except Remus doesn't come. He doesn't call, either.
After an hour of worrying, you call Sirius.
"Hello?" He answers—it's obvious he's high.
"Hi. Do you know where Remus is?"
Sirius laughs, "Right here."
"Can I talk to him?"
You hear rustling as Sirius passes the phone.
"Hello?"
"Remus," You whine.
"Hey there. What's going on?" He's calm—too calm. He's also high.
"You were supposed to come over tonight." You frown—it's a fruitless effort. He can't see you.
"Shit. 'M sorry, baby," He frowns, too. You can hear it.
"'S okay. I was just really looking forward to seeing you." You dramatically slide down your wall into a crouching position.
"I'd come over, but, y'know," He wanders off.
"You're so high you can barely walk?" You offer.
He takes it, "Yes."
"It's alright," You sigh, and Remus feels terrible, "Promise you'll come over tomorrow?"
"Promise," He answers.
But then tomorrow comes, and Remus has yet to show up. So you dial his number, but he doesn't pick up. An hour passes until your phone rings, and you're anxious and giddy and hopeful as you pick it up.
"Sorry." Remus's voice is gruff, and you can hear the guilt in his tone.
"It's okay. You can still come over. It's not too late."
"No," He sighs, "I'm sorry, but I can't... I have to break up with you."
Your face drops with your stomach, "What?"
"I can't be with you. I'm— I'm sorry."
"No!" Tears blur your vision, "You can't just tell me we're over. Explain yourself!"
"I just can't do it anymore. It's too hard."
You choke out a sob, "What's too hard? Loving me?"
"No," He sighs, and he sounds tired, oh so tired, "I'm incapable of giving you what you need."
"And who gets to say what I need?"
"Y/n, for your sake, I'm ending this. I can't provide for you in the way you'll need me to."
"Remus," You sigh, "I don't understand. What do you mean you 'can't provide' for me?"
"I can't emotionally be there for you. I'm sorry."
And as you hear the dial tone, you let your sobs out.
You feel empty. Your only friends are Remus's; now you feel like you can't talk to them.
"You're daft," Sirius scolds, "Y/n was lovely, and you break up with her over the phone?!"
Remus hangs his head in shame, "Yeah, I did."
Then Remus looked up and was met with one of his worst fears. He'd been on Lily Evans's bad side more than once, but never like this. He'd only seen this stare a handful of times, but not once was it directed at him, until now.
She marches over to the booth, never breaking her stare, leans close to Remus, and slaps him, "You twat!"
He doesn't know what to say, so he holds his cheek and waits for her to continue.
"You hurt an exceptionally lovely girl for what?! Because you're insecure? Because it was too scary to feel loved so deeply? That girl gave you her all, Remus! And this is how you treat her?" Lily's face is red at the end of her rant, and Sirius tries to hold in their snickers.
Lily narrows her eyes at Remus, "I can read you like a book, Remus Lupin. I know what's going on in that magnificently stupid head of yours! Go apologize to her!"
"I can't," He murmurs, "I've already ruined it."
She rolls her eyes, "You won't know unless you try, and not knowing will eat at you, and you will die confused, sad, and alone."
"She has a point," Sirius agrees, "I mean... we all know you'll just mope around until we push you to talk to her, but by then, it'll be too late. She will have found somebody, and they'll get married, and you'll just be that bloke from when she moved here. Go talk to her."
"What do I say?"
It's almost midnight when a knocking at your door wakes you. Groaning, you get out of bed and make your way to the door.
You undo the bottom lock, keeping the chain in place.
"Yes?" You peek through the crack, surprised to see Remus holding flowers on the other side.
"I'm sorry."
He thinks he's surely blown it when you close the door, but he hears the chain clanking as you fully unlock it.
"What are you doing here?"
Remus wants to cry at the sight of you. Your eyes are bloodshot and puffy, with red tracing your waterline.
"I—" He has a whole script planned out but seems to have forgotten every word, "I have flowers," He settles on.
"For me?"
He nods.
"What are you doing here?" You ask again, taking the flowers.
"I'm here to apologize. I was a dick the other day."
You tilt your head, "You mean the other day when you broke up with me?"
Remus almost doesn't catch the sarcasm, "I'm sorry. I get so caught up in my head—"
You turn from him, "Come in," You mutter as you walk into your kitchen.
He closes the door behind him and toes his shoes off, "I get scared when I let somebody get too close."
"Tea?"
"Yes, please."
He watches as you move around your kitchen, grabbing cups and boiling the water. He's missed you.
"Why let me get close at all, then?"
"Because I like you."
You turn and look at him, "Do you, now?"
Remus sighs, "Look, I fucked up, I know that. Do you think we can try again?"
You walk over to him, "You said you can't give me what I need. What does that mean, Remus?"
"I'm unfit to be with somebody."
"I don't think so. You were wonderful the past three months. So wonderful that I think, if you work on yourself, we can give this another go."
"Can I kiss you?" He asks, leaning in.
"I look terrible," You laugh.
"No," He rests his forehead against yours, "You're always beautiful."
"Kiss me."

Burn-Out
Pairing : Remus Lupin x f!Reader
fluff, comfort, some angst I suppose
Warnings : Burn-Out, depressive episode, anxiety, feelings of emptiness etc. Heavy topic
I want to help, to comfort and give hope to everyone who sadly had to experience (still is experiencing ) this like me <3
Content: Your boyfriend Remus decides to say something about the state you’ve been living in, as he is extremely worried about you.
Authors note: This one is a comfort story based on my own experiences, so you might experience burn out or any other mental health struggles very differently. Your experiences are valid. You deserve to rest and heal. Take breaks. Nothing is as important as your health and happiness! I know it’s hard, but it’s worth it <3 (I’m still learning that too :3)
The finals are killing you. There is no other way to describe it. No time to waste. You’ve got a study plan to use your time efficiently, and if you stick to it you might even get ahead of it too. Everything’s going according to plan. Still, you don’t really feel anything anymore. You don’t think you even really have time to feel. You’re always up in your head thinking about what to do next. Every point crossed from your to do list gives you this rush of adrenaline, only to instantly feel empty after ready to chase the next high.
Reading a romance book before bed, while giggling and slightly swinging your feet happend less and less. Even if you wanted to, there’s just no energy left at the end of the day, or any time of the day if you were honest. Besides, what’s the point of reading anything like that. It’s not really useful in any way. Entertainment isn’t helping you with the finals.
Yeah, it’s just not “useful”
That has become your main excuse if you were honest deep deep down, but you aren’t. How could you ever be? There is just no time. If it isn’t potions, it’s charm. If it isn’t charms then it’s transfiguration. There is always something.
Something to avoid thinking. Now it’s just doing. Doing what you’re supposed to do.
Piece by piece it chipped away your personality. At first it wasn’t as apparent. No one noticed, especially not you. Gradually though, you’ve become an empty shell of the person you used to be. There’s no use in these things, like reading, drawing or just having a chat with people.
Even if you wanted to chat with others, you didn’t have a lot of energy. Can’t say you haven’t tried for their sake, to not disappoint or worry anyone. Still, you’re just different.
Not yourself.
But also not anyone else.
You just became empty.
You weren’t always… but you are now.
Your friends stopped asking you to hang out, as you’ve always declined anyways. They just assume your always to busy for them. The marauders also stopped chatting up with you from time to time, since you were always liked up in homework, and no one dared to disturb you. Especially since you got very snappy most of the time.
Your boyfriend Remus was the first one to grow really worried though. Your date rate dropped slowly but surely down. The random chats about each other’s life’s declined as well. Everything is just so serious now. What hurt Remus the most though was that you stopped laughing. By Godric you even stopped smiling. It was Remus most favourite thing in the world. Seeing you happy. It just stopped. You just stopped being you.
Remus and you studied together in the library a lot. You still do that now, but even that changed. It’s barely chatting now, as you’re always so sunken into the topic you’re studying. You barely listen, and give shorter responses than ever before. After studying, you usually rush to do the next thing on your to do list.
Remus misses you.
Remus misses the actual you.
Once again, Remus and you were piled up with books in the library late at night. You were all alone, as most people would rather sleep this late. Not you, you were focused on your goals, and Remus tried supporting you. As you were scribbling down on your paper, lost in thought, Remus finally had it. He couldn’t bear it anymore. Missing you is one thing, but seeing you this miserable was another. Another thing he’s not able to tolerate.
“Y/n?” He muttered. He looked to his left, where you set next to him still lost in thought.
“Y/n?” Remus repeated. You came to your senses and looked at him, fairly confused.
“Yeah, what is it Rem?” You looked blank, waiting for a response.
Remus looked deeply into your eyes. “I am really worried about you y/n. You’re always stressed. You don’t enjoy anything anymore. You’re always tired. There’s no happiness left in you.”
This hit you like a train. You just thought to yourself after the finals everything will be alright. This is just a phase. Now, it hit you. You’re not okay. You look at Remus, frozen in anxiety. You don’t know what to do, or even say. You’re stuck in freeze.
Remus goes on “please, we can talk about everything. I can help you. I miss you so much. I don’t even know who you are anymore. You don’t laugh, by Godric you don’t even smile anymore. I’m just so worried.” The last sentence came out all wobbly, like he was choking back tears himself.
That made you realise how much your behaviours where not just impacting you, but also him and likewise your friends. Everything that made you happy you’ve chipped away yourself. It was all in favour of a “greater good”, your achievements. But was it really for the greater good? Or did you just sacrifice yourself?
Tears starting to form in your eyes. The growing feeling of sadness in your chest was growing heavy. So, so heavy. Everything you’ve repressed lately boiled up all at once. You never took time to look at your feelings once, since you could always distract yourself with more things to do. It’s like a rabbit hole. You go deeper and deeper, until you realise how incredibly deep you actually are.
Tears started streaming down your face.
You’ve felt them running down your cheeks, to the point where they even dropped down your chin and onto your clothes.
Remus eyes widened in shock. To him this reaction made it all the more serious. You were suffering silently. Drowning in this ongoing state of stress. Working day and night to keep down the pain you were feeling behind your achievements.
Remus put his arm around you, and pulled you in close. His other hand found its way behind your hand, gently pulling you into his chest.
As more tears streamed down your face, all you could produce was a wobbly” I’m sorry… I’m so so sorry…”
“Don’t worry… you’re not alone. I should have said something earlier.” Remus stroked over your back, while giving you a kiss on your head. Regrets filled Remus heads, about how far he let you go down this hole. You just can’t look into someone’s head.
“I’ve been so anxious about the finals. I thought if I do enough I can make it.” You continued to sob.
“I understand, I really do y/n. You’re not alone”
“I just feel like I need to do all of this. If I don’t, I will fail.”
“Y/n..” Remus looked deeply into your eyes. He has the most compassionate eyes you’ve ever seen. “You’re more than what you achieve. People love you for who you are. The way you speak, the way you laugh, the way you are”
Remus always had a way with words. What he said felt like it reached the depths of your heart.
“We’ve been missing you. I’ve been missing you.”
“Thank you Remus. I’ve been missing you too” you replied while a tear was rolling down your cheek.
“I love you”
You felt something. Love. Love for your boyfriend who tried to hard to help you.
“I love you too”
You forgot how it is to feel. You forgot to just be, and not plan every next thing to do. You’ve missed to live in the here and now with Remus.
“I promise I won’t let you alone with this.”
“It’s just so hard. How to I even begin to…to be less stressed.” Your voice was still shivering. You felt so fragile.
“I’m not exactly sure either, but we’ll figure it out on the way” Remus grinned at you. This smile could melt the entire North Pole, but right now it just melts your heart.
You just nodded, still processing everything that just happened.
“For starters, let’s go to sleep. No ones studying besides us right now, and to be fair we seem quite nuts to do so”, Remus said with a chuckle.
You’ve laughed. You’ve laughed again. His sarcastic remarks were always the best. Maybe you didn’t loose yourself after all.
“You’re very much right” you gave back with a slight smile.
Remus saw you smiling again. He couldn’t contain his excitement.
“See y/n, you’re smiling again”. His sweet grin broadened. “ I know we can fix this together.”
Remus kissed you on the cheek. After that, you’ve started packing up your things to go back ti your dorms.
As you are walking down the halls, you decide to ask Remus something. “Can I sleep at your dorm tonight? I don’t want to be alone.”
Remus was more than happy to do so, especially since the lack of couple time was eating him alive. “Of course honey, but I warn you. James, Sirius and Peter haven’t cleaned up the room. To be fair, I haven’t really either”
You just laughed.
“I really don’t mind. I didn’t expect anything else Rem.”
You’ve both got ready, and laid down in Remus’ bed. All the other marauders were deep asleep, and to be fair very heavy sleepers. James only rolled around once, when you kicked a lamp on the floor, which gave Remus a heart attack.
As you looked at Remus in the darkness of the dorm room, you could only feel so thankful to have him in his life. Finally, you felt some of your feelings return. It’s still a long way to go but you were sure with Remus by your side, you’ll make it.
You kissed Remus, and just started at him for a second longer.
“Remus, I love you”
“I love you too, y/n”. Good night”
“Good night”
A yawn creeps it”s way up to you. After that you cuddle up to Remus. You drift away in mere minutes, and finally get the rest you deserve
Once again, take care of yourself. Take breaks. You deserve to rest <3
I hope you all enjoyed this. Leave me other writing prompts if you want to <3

Hogwarts Castle was alive with anticipation as the Yule Ball approached. Snowflakes danced outside the tall, arched windows, blanketing the grounds in pristine white. Inside, students buzzed with excitement, discussing dresses, dates, and the music that would soon fill the Great Hall. Remus Lupin, however, found himself lost in thought, his gaze drifting to a girl across the room.
“Oi, Moony!” Sirius’s voice broke through his reverie. “Stop daydreaming and join us! We’ve got a plan!”
Remus blinked, pulled from his thoughts of Y/N—the girl who had captivated his attention for months. He turned to see Sirius, James, and Peter huddled together, their faces alight with mischief. “What plan?” he asked hesitantly, a knot of anxiety tightening in his stomach.
“Simple! You need to ask her to the Ball!” James exclaimed, his eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. “We’ll help you out.”
Remus’s heart raced at the thought. “What if she says no?” he murmured, his voice barely audible.
“Don’t be a prat,” Sirius chided, slapping him on the back. “You won’t know until you try. Besides, you’ve got us.”
With a deep breath, Remus nodded. “Alright. I’ll do it.”
“Good! We’ll be right here, cheering you on,” Peter piped up, a nervous grin spreading across his face.
The four of them made their way to the common room, where Y/N sat, her laughter ringing out as she chatted with her friends. Remus’s palms grew sweaty, and his heart pounded in his chest.
“Just go for it!” James whispered, nudging him forward.
With a final nod of encouragement from his friends, Remus approached Y/N, trying to ignore the fluttering in his stomach. “Um, hey, Y/N?”
She looked up, her smile brightening the dimly lit room. “Hey, Remus! What’s up?”
“Would you, um, would you like to go to the Yule Ball with me?” he blurted, his cheeks flushing.
For a moment, time seemed to stretch. Y/N’s eyes widened, and then she broke into a grin. “I’d love to!”
Relief washed over him, followed by a wave of excitement. “Great! I mean, awesome!”
As the evening of the Ball approached, Remus’s excitement began to wane, replaced by nerves. His friends had concocted a plan to help him “relax” before the big night.
“Just one drink, Moony,” Sirius insisted, pouring a golden liquid into a glass. “It’ll loosen you up. You can’t go in all shy and awkward.”
“Yeah, it’s just a little fun,” Peter added, his eyes hopeful.
Remus hesitated, glancing at the glass. “I don’t know, guys. I’m not sure…”
“Just trust us. We want you to have a good time,” James urged, nudging the glass closer.
With a resigned sigh, Remus took the glass and downed it in one gulp. The warmth spread through him, igniting an unexpected confidence. “Okay, maybe just one more.”
Hours later, the Great Hall was transformed into a winter wonderland, sparkling with twinkling lights and shimmering decorations. Remus entered with his friends, feeling a bit unsteady but exhilarated. His eyes scanned the room until they landed on Y/N, who looked breathtaking in a deep blue gown that flowed around her like liquid silk.
“Hey, Y/N!” he called out, striding over with an exaggerated swagger that felt foreign to him.
“Remus!” she greeted, her face lighting up. “You look… different.”
“Different good, I hope?” he shot back, grinning widely.
“Definitely,” she laughed, though her eyes narrowed slightly, as if sensing something was off.
The music began to play, and Remus took her hand, leading her to the dance floor. As they began to sway together, he felt a rush of energy coursing through him, emboldened by the alcohol. He spun her around, his laughter echoing around them.
“Wow, you’re really getting into it,” Y/N said, her smile bright but her expression shifting to confusion.
“Yeah, just letting loose!” he said with a wink, channeling his inner Sirius.
But as the night wore on, Remus’s bravado started to falter. He could feel Y/N’s energy diminish, her laughter softening, as if she were withdrawing.
“Remus…” she began, her brow furrowing slightly. “Are you alright? You seem a bit… off.”
“I’m great!” he exclaimed, perhaps a little too loudly. “Just having a blast!”
She raised an eyebrow, her expression shifting from amusement to concern. “Are you sure? You smell like—”
“Like what?” he interrupted, laughing too hard to be convincing.
“Like alcohol,” she finished, her tone now serious.
His laughter faded, replaced by a creeping sense of dread. “Oh, uh… maybe just a bit?” He rubbed the back of his neck, trying to regain his composure.
Y/N’s smile faltered, and in that moment, Remus saw the truth in her eyes: she was disappointed. “You didn’t drink to get through the night, did you?”
“No! I mean, yes, but…” He struggled for words, the reality of the situation crashing down on him. “I just wanted to enjoy the night, Y/N. I thought it’d help.”
Her expression hardened, and she took a step back. “I thought you wanted to be here with me, not as someone else.”
Remus felt a pang of regret, realizing how his friends’ well-meaning intentions had backfired. “I do want to be here with you! I just… I didn’t want to mess up.”
“Then why not just be yourself?” she asked, her voice softening but still laced with disappointment.
“I’m sorry,” he said, his heart racing. “I thought if I was more confident—”
“More like Sirius?” she interjected, crossing her arms. “That’s not you, Remus.”
He opened his mouth to respond, but the words caught in his throat. She was right; he’d let the alcohol transform him into someone he wasn’t. “Can we just—”
“I think I need to go,” she interrupted, her voice steady yet strained.
“Y/N, wait—” he called after her, but she was already weaving through the crowd, her figure disappearing into the throng of students.
Frustration bubbled inside him as he turned to find his friends, who were still reveling in the dance. “What were you thinking?” he shouted, his voice rising above the music.
“Hey, Moony! You were fantastic!” Sirius cheered, oblivious to the storm brewing in his friend’s heart.
“Fantastic? I just ruined everything!” Remus snapped, his fists clenching at his sides. “She thinks I used alcohol to get through the night!”
“Wait, you did?” James asked, genuine confusion in his eyes. “I thought you were just having fun.”
“Fun? I was trying to impress her, not be a drunken fool!” Remus shot back, pushing through the crowd toward the exit.
“Moony, wait! We were just trying to help!” Peter called after him, but Remus didn’t stop. He stormed back to the Gryffindor common room, his emotions swirling like the snow outside.
Inside the cozy space, he paced, anger and regret twisting in his gut. How could he have let himself be swayed by his friends? The night he had looked forward to for weeks had turned into a disaster.
The door creaked open, and a moment later, Y/N stepped inside, her eyes searching the room. Relief and dread washed over him simultaneously.
“Y/N…” he began, but she held up a hand to stop him.
“I just wanted to say… I’m sorry for leaving like that. I didn’t mean to hurt you. I just—” She took a breath, her voice steadying. “I wanted to enjoy the night with you, not this… version of you.”
“I know,” he admitted, feeling the weight of her disappointment. “I messed up. I thought maybe if I was more confident, I could be someone you’d like.”
Y/N stepped closer, her expression softening. “I like you, Remus. But I like the real you, not this… flirty facade.”
“I’m sorry,” he repeated, his voice earnest. “I promise, I’ll be myself next time.”
She smiled, the tension in her shoulders easing. “Next time?”
“Definitely. If you’ll still have me,” he said, hope creeping into his voice.
“Of course,” she said, her smile widening. “But just be you, alright?”
“Deal,” he replied, relief flooding through him.
As they stood together in the warm glow of the common room, Remus felt the connection between them grow stronger. The Yule Ball hadn’t gone as planned, but it had led him to something better: a chance to truly be himself with her.
Outside, the snow continued to fall, blanketing the ground in silence, as if in agreement with the promise of a new beginning.
