I love Vulcans we need to get more into the emotional lives of Vulcans without imposing Human standards onto them. "The way you feel is wrong/repressive because it's not the way it's "supposed" to be from my perspective as an alien called Human" is boring to me especially when it's treated as correct. I wanna know how the aliens feel about their alien way of life. Vulcans are so interesting to me when written AS aliens and not as analogous to repressed Humans. I think about Tuvok's description of attachment to his family and how that isn't the emotion 'love' but something else, something that he feels no shame about having and sees as normal, as naturally Vulcan and I love it and I love it because there aren't any Humans there to go "Um actually checkmate you Vulcan s.o.b - that's emotion!" and he isn't being influenced by anything. These are his authentic thoughts. He sees his children, his family, as part of him. They were at times illogical, incomprehensible, and it was extremely rewarding to be in their lives. He thinks about them every day. They were well behaved. As teens they were contemptuous of authority and convinced of their own superiority. His youngest son loved one 200 verse story so he sang it to him. He'd rather die than betray his wife even in spirit. He's incomplete without them. It's obvious through Tuvok that Vulcan life is not inherently devoid of pleasure, comfort, or love and thus Human life (I think) should not be portrayed as inherently having something greater, deeper, more meaningful. I'm not talking here of society but of...emotional life. Interiority. There's this sense that all Vulcans are the same and miserable for it. That they hold themselves back and are indistinguishable and antagonistic to the self, repressed and wrong. That to be Vulcan is to suffer endlessly and Humans are all about Freedom Man and I don't know, I like that Tuvok's existence sort of challenges this as much as I acknowledge that Vulcan society is in fact repressive and unwelcoming to those who don't fit neatly into it. I'm not saying Vulcan society is a utopia, I'm questioning the perception of Vulcan emotional control - that way of life - as being inherently bad, devoid, or lacking. That Vulcans walk around with 'empty cups' and are only deluding themselves that to be that way is good. If only, Humanity moans, they could taste how delicious life could be! Tuvok is an average Vulcan. He does not struggle with emotion, he is not mixed species, he was not raised atypically, and yet he has a family he cares about and a wife he's loyal to and friends he values and none of these things seem to be Un-Vulcan to him. If Vulcan life was truly devoid of love and care, Tuvok wouldn't think of his family. They're not here, so why bother? When his pon farr came, he'd be trying to find the most compatible mate rather than risking his life by trying to meditate through it out of loyalty to T'Pel. T'Pel would also have just given Tuvok up for dead instead of waiting and his children wouldn't have traveled all the way to the most holy temple on the planet to say prayers for his safe return. I think these things are interesting and I wish they'd been explored more. The fact that caring about your family, caring about your friends, is not Un-Vulcan. The fact that Tuvok at no point longs for Humanity, sees nothing better or of interest to him in it. (Even in his teenage rebellion he only says he's sorry he was born Vulcan which reads less as Vulcan v Human and more like 'I hate this goddamn family' ykwim?). I want to know more about how Vulcans interact with each other, how they care for one another, what it means and what it's like to be Vulcan in more of an everyday way rather than what it means to be Vulcan vs Human.
#Vulcan emotional control WOULD be bad for Humans. But they're aliens. So.#I wrote this off the cuff v_v sorry if it just rambles in circles#I just don't like when Vulcans are written to be 'like us but missing out on something beautiful'#I think of people who don't live anything close to my life's experience. Are they lacking in something? Are they not living a 'full' life?#I'm not neurotypical - am I missing something essential to living a 'real' life because of that?#some people don't experience empathy - are they lesser because of it? No#I love my fellow man I guess. I think maybe in the far far future I'd hope that being just like me [human = neurotypical white american]#isn't a prerequisite for friendship and love and maybe we can just have harmless and beautiful differences#I wonder what's so good - INHERENTLY good about having emotion. What does it mean to be good? What does it mean to live 'fully'? As a Human#As an Alien? What does it means to have a life? Be alive? What's love and why is it important? What do these concepts mean to an Alien?#In Star Trek Voyager Ayala's son and Tuvok's son both pray for their father to come back home - is the Vulcan prayer lesser?#All this to say that I /AM/ going to make my own no-emotions aliens to put in star filled oyster - you just know I'm going to do that#there was no other option for me it was written in stone from oyestar's conception and I hope you'll all read the story#I eventually write with them even though you'll no doubt raise your brow and look me in the eye and go 'oh big surprise the Vulcan guy wrot#this. Oh hey look everyone the autistic Vulcan guy is musing about emotions what a surprise' and I'll be tugging at my shirt collar#like a cartoon character and gulping comedically and sweating bullets#Literally as I wrote that last sentence I realized I'm dissociating I'm going to go eat ice

Any thoughts to Dusknoir getting "advice" from Darkrai in the future (while hunting Grovyle & Hero)?
#Darkrai not wanting to interfere with Dusknoir chasing the human and Grovyle in the future but when Dusknoir loses them this bastard has#information to where they went. That's the only reason why Dusknoir even accepts having Darkrai around. He gives him valuable#ressources to continue his hunt for Celebi Grovyle & the human (BECAUSE THIS FUCKER WOULD RATHER MANIPULATE OTHERS#THAN DO THE WORK HIMSELF. IF CHUNSOFT WON'T DO IT I'LL GIVE HIM THE DEPTH OKAY.)#I imagine that Darkrai would just appear randomly. Then mock Dusknoir a little for losing them and telling him where they went.#Dusknoir would be so sus of this guy. Like wdym he just got jumped by a Pokemon he's never seen before AND that same Pokemon#just told him everything he needed to continue the hunt for the Hero gang. LIKE HUH???? Darkrai would never ever tell him his name though.#This is so Yaoi coded I know- It just happened guys. I'm still blaming @softstarryblanket for that. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME.#Also hi if you're reading this :D!#'You must safe your existence dusknoir.'#'**You'll succumb to my darkness eventually marionette.**'#'You must stop those who want to destroy your life dusknoir.'#'**Your life is worthless in comparison to my immortality marionette.**'#Hi I love writing and I'm losing myself. Oh I will place a big order! So you can stay longer, sending in those pizzas. Haha!
Though I don’t show anyone my ways of winning.. maybe I’ll show you one of them. Just for ya.
Chance smiled at Elliot before their smile slowly faded, his face studying Elliot’s expression.
Hey, you look a little tired. You okay?
Hey Elli!
Before the delivery boy could answer, a bunny was shoved towards his face.
[ @ace4thespades ]
-> He squeaks in surprise and steps back slightly, not really expecting for one, the other to suddenly show up and two, for a bunny rabbit to be shoved into his face. "Oh-! A-A bunny?"

hii!! I just read cold spots and it was AMAZING!!! Im not sure if you wanted to continue the fic, but if you don’t mind could you continue with Veres part? I don’t know what you would write about but I just feel like that fic has so much potential to be a little 3 part series or something 🙏
<- Cold Spots TYSM ANON!! I put the Vere End at the beginning for ease of reading. For the sake of folks who would like to read this as a stand-alone... I think u can? With the knowledge that the premise of Cold Spots is that Mhin and MC/Sparrow went ghost hunting. Vere is said to have been responsible for a handful of local ghost stories, so…of course he makes some mischief.🦊 Also MC needs some Winter wear, stat.  A very light Possessive Vere warning in this btw, though perhaps in a roundabout way.  Plausible deniability is so important to him.
You putter around in your room at the Wet Wick as you go about your nightly routine. The occasional cheer or thud from below only accentuates your nervous energy, punctuating your reluctance to settle down and get into bed. You smooth the covers with your bandaged hands and fluff the pillow before extinguishing the lamplight. You tug the bedding up above your shoulders, fighting to get comfortable. As your eyelids finally start to droop, the flicker of a shadow catches your attention.   It dances and sways and bends and grows until suddenly it is right in front of you.  On top of you. Silken, blood red drips down onto your face, a knife gleam smile too close for comfort.  You breathe in a gasp, wondering if you should scream. “Vere, what–” “Shhh,” he coos, pressing a finger lightly to your lips.  His breath is hot against your skin. “I only came to keep you warm, pet.”
Heat Signature
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Poor thing.” Vere purrs.  “Your lips are so cold.”  He leans ever closer, his mouth hot over yours–hovering.  His other hand reaches for your face as well, nails trailing against your cheek in a teasing caress.
You feel even the thought of being cold leave your body, replaced instead by the unusual thrill he commands, that strange enthralling sway.
That heat you’ve come to associate with Vere; sweet tendrils of want that nestle in your bloodstream.
You squirm a little, though you can’t move much with him looming over you.
(You should probably do more to protest his intrusion into your room, you think to yourself, though, the majority of you is–curious, daresay even far too eager to–)
“Whatever trouble did you get up to that left you in such a state?”
At this you scoff, tilting your head back into the pillow and effectively knocking Vere’s finger from your lips.
“As if you don’t know,” you accuse.
Vere looks entirely unperturbed by you shaking him off, his lithe fingers traveling freely along the newly displayed skin of your throat, making your pulse jump.
Vere chuckles at that, dark and silky.
“Being tight lipped about your adventures, hm?”  He angles your face just so, ensuring you meet his sharp eyes, his nose brushing up against yours.  “Not that it matters.  It so happens I do know what you’ve been up to.  Trespassing in places that don’t belong to you.”
“...It was an abandoned building.  I don’t think it really belonged to anyone.”
“And that’s where you’d be wrong,” Vere says, “everything in this city belongs to someone, darling.  You just don’t know what belongs to who yet.”  He peers down at you with laughter in his expression, though there's a distinct edge to it that you can't quite place.
“So, you're here because that building belongs to you...?”
“Hmm, amongst other things.  However shall I make you apologize to me for this most egregious offense?”  He asks airily, shifting until he’s beside you rather than perched over you, resting his cheek in his hand and letting his eyes slip closed. He's the absolute picture of unbothered leisure.
(You’re not fooled–he’s simply waiting for you to let your guard down before he pounces.)
You open your mouth to deny any debts on your part (though, if your ghost hunting spot was indeed Vere’s hideout, you really do feel guilty) but Vere cuts you off before you can speak.
“Alas, I suppose it’s not mine anymore.  Within a week it will reek of wet dogs and cheap booze. It's a lost cause now that those drooling reprobates know it's inhabitable.  A pity.  By Eridia's standards it really was divine in its heyday.  Good wine, music, dancing.  There was this portrait artist who would paint the performances…”
His tone remains light as he reminisces.  But the look he pins you with is dangerous: his eyes gleaming bright, his canines bared in an irreverent grin.
“I had such hopes and dreams of reviving the place myself.  Some of the dances were very scandalous.  You never did share with me your stance on dancing, did you?”
You stumble out an approximate answer.  It’s…harmless information to give, isn’t it?
Though, judging by how pleased Vere looks, you wonder if you should have refused to say.  He looks positively wicked as he ponders your answer aloud.  “Oh, I’m sure you’ve got plenty of talents to share.  In another life, perhaps I'd have put you on stage.  Though, I admit.  I find myself partial to a private show.”
And–as expected–the moment you let your guard down, he's in your space again, crowding you.  Heat and proximity and the softest brush of his lips against yours, light enough to send a thrill down your spine, curiosity and a want so deep it surprises you.
“Well?”  He purrs.  “Care to audition?”
You can't hide behind the excuse of supernatural sway or charm or the thrall of hypnotic sunglo eyes.  It's not Vere's power that controls you. It's your own gnawing desire; starvation and longing that draws you to him despite all sense.
Kissing Vere is heady.  Dizzying.
Kissing Vere is like being in conversation with Vere–a constant of giving and taking, being chased after and running to keep up.  It’s enticing and alluring and decadent and never quite enough, over too soon even as you feel yourself losing air, the rush of blood and sensation threatening to overwhelm you.
He gives a parting nip to your bottom lip as he pulls away.
Then another one, playful, to your jaw.
When he presses his face into the side of your neck, you expect him to bite again.
What you don’t expect is for him to nuzzle into you, inhaling deeply before heaving a great sigh, his tail flopping lazily to land across you with a thump.
He’s officious as he rearranges the covers, ensuring your arms are tucked carefully away from him before he’s willing to fully settle into the bedding, pulling the blankets up around the both of you like a den.  He hums something low in his chest as he tucks himself up alongside you, long tail curled around your waist.
It’s rhythmic–
purring.
And it’s…soothing, actually.
The weight of him, the warmth.  The incessant lamplight of the Amaryllis District, shining ever present through your window, is dim–tolerable, even, courtesy of Vere's magnificent shadow manipulations and the blankets sheltering you.
The constant noise seems to fade away as well, obscured by the sound of purring. “Falling asleep when you have me in your bed, pet?  You really do try your luck…”

And Typegingi.
Tumblr media
Again. Misspelling here is like- it's intentional.
Don't know even what to ramble here about. Well I think I might draw typewriters better.
Also I'm a bit worried about next theme like.. Yeah I get what headcanons are but I don't think I have anything that's original really.
Hm... I'll draw something basic probably. I just hope it won't be anything like.. Way too lazy.

So let's talk height.
Tumblr media
(Image taken from gamibuzz.com)
So the average human height in our world is a little difficult to ascertain, but in 1996 was thought to be 5'7" for men, and 5'3" for women. Now, I don't think that the devs have coded in the gendered height difference to Veilguard, so let's just average that out to 5'5" and apply that to this image. (Very Scientific I know, I've not even accounted for the fact that human heights have increased over the last 200 years on average.) Assuming that all these characters are set to 50% in the character creator (very scientific) that means the human man here is 5'5". After doing a little screen measuring and maths, that means that the average height of a qunari is 6'2", elf average is 4'11", and dwarf average is 4'2". Obviously, these are averages, so there will be taller/shorter people. Also, I'm doing a lot of rounding and conversion because I hate the imperial system, so I may be a little off. What's the range of heights available in the character creator, though? Not sure, I'd need to be able to measure the difference. Expect a more accurate update when I get ahold of the character creator!

if riordan was worth his salt Girls Against God by florence + the machine would be a hazel song. she deserved to be angry at her father, the one that put her in literal isolation and torture for 70+ years. the world that only ever ostracized and exploited her.
and she was! there were times where we knew she was. but the plot and the narrative don't let her do anything about it.

Anyway, I've been rewatching the Kennedy episodes of Buffy for fanfiction-writing reasons recently (I still need to work on getting her voice down properly). And as I'm doing that anyway I thought I might make a list of all the times Kennedy unfairly undermined Buffy's authority or attacked her for no reason other than being an entitled stuck-up bully. You know, all the reasons the fandom gives for hating her.
Let's see: she spent all year lying about Buffy having attacked her at the Bronze, which played a major role in Buffy getting ostracized at hew new school. She publicly called Buffy "weird" and "a loony" and "a mental", suggested she should join a "freak show", pushed pass Buffy or pretended she wasn't there at all when she couldn't immediately do anything for her, scoffed at the idea Buffy could ever have been popular, celebrated the fact she didn't manage to get on to the cheerleading team, wondered out loud in front of her friends why the school even let somebody like Buffy join, she--
... oh, wait. That's the list for perennial fan favorite Cordelia Chase, isn't it? My mistake.
Here's Kennedy's list, three episodes in:
Bring on the Night
Notes that the Bringers "tore apart" her Watcher, implies that gathering all the surviving Potentials on a Hellmouth where they can be guarded by one solitary Slayer with no trained back-up is a pretty terrible plan. She's obviously, objectively right about this! It is a bad plan! It is a very bad plan! It only makes any narrative sense because this is Buffy's show and if the Potentials are going to join Buffy they have to do so in Sunnydale where Buffy lives, and it will turn out that (conveniently) this all works out, but there really is no good in-universe justification for Giles bringing the girls here with the information currently available to him. (If that's not enough, note that Buffy's reaction to Kennedy's complaint is literally "she's right".)
Repeatedly advocates for the Potentials to be give weapons to defend themselves. Seems entirely justified, especially since we know Kennedy herself has been trained to fight since she was eight years old, since as she notes the Potentials are "sitting ducks" without them. What is Buffy's reaction to this unfounded attack? Well, again, she almost immediately agrees with Kennedy ("we should load them up, Giles").
Showtime
When talking to "Eve" (actually the First), Kennedy is notably the only Potential to consistently argue against the idea that what they're doing in Sunnydale is pointless and to tell the others that there's value in them training and getting ready to fight. After "Eve" is exposed and one of the Turok-Han is on its way to the house, Kennedy argues (in agreement with Buffy) against trying to run, stands up for Wilow attempting to cast a barrier spell, and tries to help rally the other Potentials for a fight. What a bitch.
Incidentally, this episode establishes Kennedy's been training to be a Slayer since she was eight, and she's clearly in her late teens at least [the collective fandom consensus seems to be that she's 19, but I don't know where that comes from]. That means Kennedy's been training for probably over a decade. She literally has been doing this longer than Buffy. Later in the episode, when Buffy talks about staying behind to slow the Turok-Han down and Dawn objects that she can't fight it by herself, Kennedy -- who has seen it, and knows what it can do, and doesn't have any superpowers to rely on -- immediately volunteers to help. Now, as it happens, Buffy doesn't want this (because, as we learn through some remarkably clunky writing, she's engineered this whole situation as a way of fighting the Turok-Han alone in front of everyone else), but ... well, Kennedy doesn't know this and it's not like she causes any problems when Buffy turns her down.
Potential
Buffy takes the Potentials to a demon bar for their first group patrol. This is, um, an interesting choice on Buffy's part, I've got to say. As Rona says, they're "a bunch of fifteen year olds in a demon bar, how much blending in are [they] going to do?". [One assumes Kennedy herself is somewhat older than fifteen.] I'm not actually sure why Buffy thinks this is a good idea, because she's only just finished warning them how dangerous a place this is before she runs into Clem and starts chatting to him and she completely ditches the girls she brought with her. Not for the first time I am forced to question Buffy's pedagogical approach. Anyway, Kennedy does undermine Buffy's authority for the first time a little bit here (saying, of Clem, "do you think she dated him too?") but I am tempted to forgive her for this cruel and unprovoked assault because (1) as I said, this does seem to have been a poorly thought through training exercise on Buffy's part; and (2) Kennedy's line is pretty funny.
Later this episode, after the first lot of Potentials have started to bond, they meet the new Potential Amanda and Kennedy helps draw her into the group by getting her to talk about what it was like to stake a vampire by herself for the first time. I take it all back, I can totally see why she's the least likeable character ever now.
