3. What is the most amount of research you’ve done for the smallest detail? What was the detail and how much time/effort went into researching it?

this is interesting to think about because i honestly can't think of anything i spent too much time researching on! mostly because i take an Artistic License approach to stories lol.

this valzhang fic i'm writing rn might actually be it lol. they're both journalists but i don't really know much about investigative journalism or how corporations work on a micro level so i have to do a lot of studying up on that! it doesn't help that i'm generally bad at writing detail-oriented, mystery stories. but it's good to get out of your comfort zone right xD?

i also remember when i wrote 'your cascade ocean wave blues' (which was so long ago my god) i went down a rabbit hole about siren mythology and depictions. it's really addictive to just look through the wikipedia page! not sure if it counts because it wasn't strictly necessary for the fic though.

8. Is there a story idea you have that you would love if it could appear fully realized but that you do not think you’ll ever write yourself?

another hard question because i must admit that i'm pretty egocentric and whenever i dream up a detailed idea it's with full confidence i AM going to write it someday even though realistically i know that is simply not possible lmao.

but a tartarus valzhang fic would be awesome! there are so many interesting directions you could take it in, which also might be why i'd be hesitant to write it. in the same vein there's time travel with valzhang too, it has so much potential and would love to read anyone else's take on it, but i'd probably mess up if i tried to write myself.

i also think a post-canon continuation about how pipeyna could feasibly get together in a way that feels canon would be awesomeee.

14. Has anyone ever created anything (art, a podfic, another fic, etc.) inspired by your work? Which work? How did you feel about that?

in events like bangs or as exchange/gifts! i really love those and appreciate it so much. it doesn't happen much nowadays because i mostly write for rrverse now and i've never had it happen to me unprompted (as in, outside of a fandom event).

in general, i would love anything that people felt inspired to make because of my work, it touches me so much that someone went through the effort because they liked my art. the stuff i do actually exists? it actually impacts other people? that kind of feeling, which i feel flattered and honored by.

20. Is there anything about any one of your fics that you have been dying to discuss but haven’t had the chance to?

we've kind of talked about this before, but i'm really fond of my frank characterization in 'talk like a man and taste like a sun'. i think his experience with his mom and grandma and the pervasive loneliness he experienced as a child would've left him with abandonment issues and the sense of being very needy with other people, which is of course a trait not suited to the kind of person frank wants to be, and thus he is ashamed of.

i feel as if this is the definitive post-canon frank... like i explore a lot of concepts with it but this is the one that's the most Canon i my mindscape. also it wasn't really my intention to explore it but this is the fic that while i was writing really put the BPD frank headcanon in my head. i honestly wish i had wrote it with that in mind from the beginning so it could be more obvious and accurate x( but oh well. i'll do it better in the future.

there's also leo of course... just like frank he's also in a situation where everything should feel like it's perfect/he has everything he wants with the waystation and his new family where he's relatively safe and free. except he loves frank too much to truly be happy. i think leo is the type of person to be restless, who feels as if nothing good can last forever, so i wouldn't put it past him if he also abandoned the waystation in the future and just fucked off from both of them entirely. though that's a bit of a pessimistic way of looking at it.

20 for fanfic writing asks!

20. Is there anything about any one of your fics that you have been dying to discuss but haven’t had the chance to?

i feel like there's a lot, but it's hard to pick one and put it into words!

in 'imitation game' i think frank and leo would both survive the war and get married right after it ends. the ethics of this are dubious but they're far past that point already so /shrug. there is no wedding and leo only thinks to tell piper about it like two years after the fact. frank never sees any of his troop again.

also every time i think of this fic i think of the small sequel i have ideas about where they meet hazel, who came from a time before the breakdown of civilization (since the fic is set in a post-apocalypse setting) (though it's not really obvious, oops). it's not high on my priority list right now but i might write it someday. i think she'd catch on to how fucking weird they are even by this new world's standards but she's also weird so it's not like she can speak y'know? i imagine she's one of the few people they'd stay in contact with after the war.

4. Share a headcanon about Leo, Frank, Piper, and Hazel in A Flesh Wound to Some but a Love Nip to Others!

in my defense, after the vz exchange week i'm really excited to get back to that universe because i have a longer fic planned for it. obviously i can't really share anything about jason and nico but for the others:

leo

leo 1000% hadn't ever kissed a man before frank and this mindblowing memory that frank holds in his mind of the kiss is pretty far off from reality. leo busted his lip because he gunned for it without factoring in "maybe i shouldn't fling myself into someone and kiss them without any thought or talking about it first". a lot of the fond memories the others have of him are pretty rose-tinted! piper taught him how to drive years prior with the aid of a stolen car and he thought he was going to die.

frank:

frank's mom died much as she did in canon but there wasn't some magical camp or destiny for frank to run off towards to bury the pain in. he had to sit with feeling helpless and angry, falling into pretty standard delinquent behaviors. he smokes, not the standard cigarettes but the 100s because they have a longer filter. i think he struggles to quit for long.

piper

piper is in charge of any paperwork they need, be it fake ids or to dig up dirt on people, she's their girl. and because of this, she's the one who picks up burner phones! she takes the time to add their contacts into each of them with silly names (usually movie characters since she's a movie buff).

hazel

hazel successfully manages to trick the trio into believing she can commune with rocks. that's not how her powers work but it's funny to her to tell a white lie like that and have them wholeheartedly believe her without question. she's fairly serious so they can't tell when she's messing with them.

people are always saying "umm frank was justified to hate leo because leo blew up his camp!" when really that wasn't even part of the reason he hated him. he literally tells leo it wasn't his fault. and then proceeds to dunk on him for entirely separate reasons. please never underestimate my son's glorious capacity for pettiness
