Ofc I’m the last person to say I don’t want Mystreet back (even though emerald secret and after was not my fave 💀) because both series and any of her new ones ( my inner demons come back to me please I miss Noi so badly) are some that I really wanna see completed. The series’s mean so much more than I could ever articulate but I digress.

I hope the future has Aphmau back on top of the MCRP game! (I’m so tired of unfinished projects like it’s baaaaad on YouTube 😭)

You know the drill by now. New Direct, New Mario games shown. I will talk about them here. There was plenty else I enjoyed, but with the Mario focus of the blog, I wanna give the three new Mario games my attention.

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD

I understand this one feels underwhelming for some, given DK has still not gotten a non-port or remake game on Switch, but to be honest, I like this. DKCR is a phenomenal platformer and with the 3DS content included, we now finally got a definitive version to point people to and I do think this gives this re-release a lot of value.

Not much else to say, because I doubt there will be much, if anything, new. Seems like a very Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD situation and I am okay with that.

Mario & Luigi Brothership

This was easily the biggest bombshell and yeah, what a way to start the Direct. The recent RPG and TTYD remakes made me hope that Nintendo may be working on a serious relaunch for the RPG branch of Mario, but to see them do it this soon is not something I could have ever seen coming.

Much is still unknown, but there is quite a bit we can look at, like the visuals! The occasional use of 3D models in the 3DS games made me wonder what a fully 3D M&L could look like and Brothership gives a very pleasing answer. Translating a series known for stellar sprite work into 3D is an uphill battle and Brotherhood manages to pull it off with both a really faithful translation of the series’ artstyle we always saw in official art and animation that’s as snappy and toony as it should be for a series like this.

Especially happy about the cutscenes. RPG already made me really want to see more like those and Brothership is very similar. Seeing the characters be this animated and not limited to their standard animation sets is a joy to watch and M&L is the perfect series to do a lot with that.

We got plenty of new character designs already too and those largely go for a tool theme. Very interested to see where this will take things, but just in terms of designs, I like em’. Connie seems to be the big hit among fans and I am firmly in that camp too. She’s adorable.

What we hear of the music is good stuff too. It’s to be seen if Yoko Shimomura is still working her magic, but I’d be surprised if she wasn’t brought back.

In terms of gameplay there is not much known yet, but I am very curious how they’ll do things. After the Baby Bros, Bowser, Dreamy Luigi and Paper Mario, we are back to just Mario and Luigi and that promises some expansions to the gameplay around just the two of them.

We already see hints of that with the jump and hammer attacks shown in the trailer, which involved Luigi helping out Mario for a bit of a team attack. They don’t seem to be Bros Attacks, since we see the Shell one we had since PiT at the end of the trailer, so maybe that’s just what jump and hammer moves are like now? We’ll see, I find the idea intriguing. 

One thing up in the air is how the game will handle previous M&L specific characters. The series has been remarkably good about keeping those in the picture and making these games feel truly connected. Not a big deal if they treat this like a soft relaunch though, even if I would be perfectly content with even just a picture of a Shroob on a wall or something.

The titular ship and island theme makes me curious about the overall structure of the game. The most likely answer being that different areas are separated into islands you visit one by one. Perhaps there could be an exploration mechanic ala’ Wind Waker, or the very blatantly based on that section in Origami King, where you can sail yourself, find treasure and optional islands?

Only time will tell, but I am really excited and happy to see a series back that has been in a very unsure place for years.

Mario Party Jamboree

As far as realistic wishes go, Mario Party was my big one, so I am very pleased and it easily stands shoulder to shoulder with Brothership and away from Mario, Echoes of Wisdom and the Marvel vs Capcom Collection, for me.

Mario Party is one of my favorite series period and I even got quite a bit out of the pre-Switch NDCube games. 10 and Star Rush in particular I openly defend a lot. That said, my relationship with the Switch entries has been a rocky one.

I never really liked Super, it always felt like a pale imitation of the classic formula, that lacked a lot of what I like about the series and made many decisions I didn’t vibe with.

Superstars is much better, but still ended up being a tug-of-war of really good stuff and things I found still lacking, particularly in terms of content and how off a lot of minigames felt to control, compared to their original counterparts.

Jamboree is looking to be the Mario Party I have been waiting for all gen and it’s looking to fix all the problems I had with the previous games.

7 boards, 5 new and 2 returning. Never thought of a mix of old and new as an option, but it’s a move I can get behind. It’s a good way to get more boards in. I’d like it if they remade some of the GameCube boards for once, but I am not complaining. Hard to when Western Land is back baybeeeh!

The new boards all look good. It really seems like we are back to the 6-8 era approach of giving every board their own gimmick and that’s something I have been waiting to see again. The theming looks great too, especially the mall and race track ones, some creative stuff in there.

The roster surprised me too. Superstars had a laughably poor one and while Super had a large one, it made decisions I didn’t like, particularly relegating several established characters to NPC roles.

Jamboree does away with that, Birdo’s here, the Toads are back, which I really wanted and all around while I prefer less mook heavy rosters, I like the selection on offer here, especially Ninji and I’ll never say no to Boo or Shy Guy.

I also like what they did with Bowser. I love the guy, but his playable role in Super I feel robbed the series of something. His usual role is a big, irreplaceable part of the series, in both gameplay and vibe. This force who commands the power to massively shake up the game. Kamek in both function and presentation just didn’t offer a good replacement, so the new approach to have a Kamek created Bowser clone fill in is a significantly better compromise.

Ninji not being in the intro and bringing the roster up to an odd numbered 21 does indicate possible unlockables. I’d be happy if what we saw is what we get, but I’d never say no to say, Pauline, who is otherwise still strangely absent from the series.

What we saw of the minigames meanwhile looks good. A much better mix of zany antics and more grounded competition than Super had, which dialed back the slapstick adventure feeling a ton. The large number of minigames, seemingly all original this time, is also genuinely impressive.

We also got the promise of more modes, but so far the only one we got concretely introduced to is Koopathlon, which is blatantly Coinathlon from Star Rush brought online and escalated to 20 players. As someone who loved Coinathlon, I fully support this.

On top of that, I could already hear new voice clips, which is just that extra mile I appreciate. Mario spin-offs are no stranger to reusing those a ton and Party is one of the more notable examples of it, but something about the ones used post-10 I found especially grating, especially how much Superstars spams them in some minigames, so I am VERY pleased to get away from that.

On the whole, Jamboree feels like a lot of lessons were learned and they really want to make this one something special and I am very excited for that. This really makes the previous two games feel like test runs and I did hope they were just that. Especially Superstars which showed some real understanding of how to make a great Mario Party, but just wasn’t there yet in too many areas for my liking.

In general, a strong trio of titles, that really shows a surprising amount of gas in the tank for a system that is now in its twilight years. Along with the 2023 output for the series, I am extremely excited where things will go from here.

Okay, so just watched the first minecraft live of 2025, and as i often do, i decided to share what i think.

Now, i will say, this ones going to be different from when i usually talk about minecraft live reveals, cause unlike usual where we get a couple sneak peeks at a few different features, this time we got a few smaller things, but that all naturally flow into each other making it functionally one feature you're basically building to. So my thoughts are basically going to be one big thought instead of my bullet point thoughts I'd normally go into. There will probably be more, smaller features when the snapshots get going, but for now all i have to talk about is this one new feature.

I should also mention, given i just finished watching at the time of writing, i haven't given myself much time to think this new feature over a whole lot, so my thoughts may be different by the time you're reading this, but these are my raw unfiltered thoughts. Also, spoilers for the event, obviously, please go watch it now or a summary if you're planning on doing so.

Firstly, i wanna talk about the new official shaders: i love them! For some reason i didn't ever stop to think they'd probably go out of their way to make all the fancy graphics look as blocky and pixely as possible but in hindsight, it makes so much sense for the official, built-in shaders to look this way. It really does look fantastic, and i can't wait to try and use them and then because I'm playing on switch, the game says "no, if you do that, your system will become a nuclear time bomb, please for the love of peaches and apples, don't do it!"

Next, the update itself. But first, i wanna tell a story. So i play on bedrock, right? And i have been playing with some friends in a couple worlds, and one of those friends has been really into the new add-ons feature lately, they're basically like mods for bedrock edition that you can buy in the store, some PC mods even got ported to bedrock as add-ons from what i understand. And some of the add-ons, i think are fantastic, they feel right at home with the game and make it all feel cohesive and they all jive well with the art style and mechanics and what not. Abd some, are still great, but i can REALLY tell that a fan made them. Not gonna name any names, but there are some mods out there that add stuff that is cool, but only a fan would think to include.

I wanna pick my words carefully here because i have no problem with making content for minecraft that feels like something only a fan would make, fans SHOULD make things that the original source material would never think to include, like every single mob being mountable or something like that. It's cool that fans make this stuff, it's just that that's not really the kind of experience I'M looking for with this game, you know? We all have our tastes.

All of this is to say... I think the new ghast mount feels like a mod more than a proper feature... Now, it's not lost on me how often that sentiment has been brought up with new updates in the past, believe me. And when people say that, i usually have the same answer: "that's probably just because it's new. Give it time, be open to it, it'll feel right at home sooner or later" but in this case, i don't know. Having a friendly ghast that you can put a cute helmet and goggles on and ride into the air, while undeniably amazing in every possible way and if you like the update you should ignore me being a grumpy old enby and just like what you like and ignore me for my objectively wrong opinions, does feel like something i would expect to see in a bedrock edition add-on, not the main game.

I think it's mostly just that it's a ghast that's just happy and eats snowballs. If it were a brand new mob that just so happened to be related to the ghast, but changed into a brand new creature because of your compassion, my brain would accept it more, but i don't know. Saying "ghasts will becone happy friendly sentient hot air balloons if you give them water despite living in hot lava worlds" kinda feels weird to me. I'd be willing to accept that, because it's a magic creature, giving it water makes it magically become a completely other creature a lot more easily. But with how these updates seem to work, that might not be as feasible as i wish it was. But i hope Mojang will consider it. Just make the ghastling and happy ghast baby blue, call them something else and I'll be satisfied. But if they can't, i won't get on their case about it

I think I'm also a bit sad at the seeming confirmation with this minecraft live that we might not be getting any big, proper updates any time soon. Tbf i figures that if they already struggle to deliver on what they want to with each update, adding more busy work between updates wouldn't be a very good solution, and they technically didn't say updates were gone forever, but their wording makes it sound like this is what we're getting from now on ibstead of big updates, at least for the forseeable future, which i understand, and was even expecting back when the drop system was first announced, but it Still makes me sad because we may have to wait a while before and end update is even feasible.

But... Maybe this ghast thing just needs time to grow on me. If i just give it time, I'm sure this new drop will introduce SOMETHING cool I'll wanna use in creative for the rest of my life. And, ultimately, having a flying mount is something people have wanted for ages, and it's slow and big enough it doesn't feel over-powered or anything like a freaking DRAGON or something. Not to mention, its another friendly mob that isn't a real life animal and is instead a fantasy creature only Minecraft could come up with, another thing I've heard people wish there were more of in the game. And i kind of like how this idea is seemingly, wether intentionally or not, kind of an evolution of the baby ghast skin from console edition back in the day.

As a matter of fact, i kind of predicted this feature.... Back when i was a dumb stupid baby who watched Stampy cat (disclaimer: me watching Stampy and being a stupid baby are unrelated facts) i wanted to make minecraft content some day too and dreamed up a plot point where i explored the nether and found a baby ghast (played by a friend using the baby ghast skin) and it followed me home to be my friend, andnow all these years later, that's a genuine actual game mechanic in the game now.

I hope i didn't sound too much like an annoying chump complaining about the game and contributing nothing of substance to the community, the last thing i want to do is assume the worst of Mojang, they genuinely seem like they really care about the game, the fan base, and most importantly, their own employees. And i should be very clear, this is the first update in many, many years where I've genuinely felt let down by it, and it was only just announced. There's plenty of time for this update to turn around on me and for me to feel like it's worth it, and if it doesn't, well, next MC live is less than a year away, so in just a few months, we'll see what the next drop will look like i suppose.

I have a confession idk if im just crazy but i find a lot of the sound horizon fanbase alienating, so much of the conversation around new releases feels like jokes im not privy to, i don't understand what people are talking about, plus all the fomo about events i cannot attend and that do not get recorded/released etc. I kind of resent revo a little for cultivating this thing of making sh like a private privileged club where you gotta be rich and a little insane to keep up

I completely get that and it's valid to think that.

The fomo you're feeling isn't just you, most international Laurants feel this sense that they're not privy to an upper-level of understanding.

I think a lot of this has to do with how we receive our news. Social media and discord are the only real methods of getting news and discussing things, and besides that it's all just private group chats and things like that.

I try to release translations of everything publicly available on either my blog or YouTube channel, but even I have some considerations.

Idk what the solution is, I try my best to make people aware of what's going on, but so much of it is just how many Japanese artists must function to survive.

Especially with Revo's positioning as an artist. He *just now* warmed up to the idea of releasing songs on streaming platforms. Revo has always run by the mindset of "once it's physically released/performed, the content is for the fans from that time." For example, when he left kingrecords and they released Chronology and rereleased Elysion's concert, Revo wrote a letter saying he was frustrated and didn't authorize these releases. He wants the fans who buy it/attend the concerts during that time to enjoy it as an experience.

To me, the mode of surviving as a big artist (who still releases CDs, who insists on creating complex narratives not appealing to a large audience) is to rely on whales. It sucks, but it's true that Revo has a smaller fanbase who has an ever smaller section that can afford to buy $800 dressers and attend every single fan event. Thankfully we've been able to buy things internationally through CDJapan and now officially through ponycanyon, but there's the thing. buy.

Not everyone can afford the big-ticket items. Ema ni is impossible to release on Spotify and it makes sense, it's intended to be a Blu-ray, and who even has a blu-ray player?!

The accessibility issue of Revo's music isn't a new issue. It's gotten a bit better, but we only convinced ponycanyon to release SH/LH albums internationally through "voting with our wallet."

In terms of the story/releases and the unknowns around it, I'm always available to clear up any info that isn't readily accessible. People used to run news twitters and discord servers just for SH fans, but it's increasingly becoming a non-viable option for many fans to keep in touch and truly "enjoy" SH.

BUT I will end it off with this. A few (is 5-7 a few???) years back I was struggling with calling myself a Laurant. I really enjoyed SH but there was so much I wasn't privy to. It was like "I've cleared the first room, but I can't get to the second because I haven't lvl'd up yet."

I think that (especially w/ Revo) it's okay and honestly healthy to not "know" everything. Revo's music is super complex, and I feel the death of theorizing we're experiencing (where no one posts theories) is a result of the fandom bottle-necking in on itself because a select few know all there is to know about every pore on Revo's face while the peasants sit around trying to understand what the hell happened in Ema ni still.

Be the end of it, theorize and post SH and create community! On the Sound Horizon tag here it's just me and people posting fan art! I wanna see theories again! So what you don't get what the hell Halloween to Asa no Monogatari is?! So what you don't know every reference! We That's the fun of SH, 《The Gods of Fantasy》 know nothing!!

I've been here for about 10 (we'll say about 10 so I don't date myself) years and have been translating Revo for most of them. I have a lot of knowledge about Revo, but I don't know anything!!!

I'm very sorry that your experience with SH has been very polarizing, but I do hope you could maybe elaborate in DMs specifically what could help? Obviously we can't just change how Revo distributes things aside from a massive protest demanding for a live blu-ray release, but what can "we" (we meaning Laurants "already established" in "the fandom") do to prevent FOMO in our discussions/postings?

Arc-V Day 6 and 7

I'm a bit behind. Please @arcvmonth, spare me. Don't turn me into a card.

Anyway, for Understudy Spotlight I wanna briefly talk about Roger. I say briefly, because I'll save most of my thoughts for the Villains Prompt. For now, I gotta say, he's my vote for most underrated Yugioh bad guy. I LOVE villains who think they're hot shit, but turn out to be nothing but smug snakes. Plus, his voice actor NAILS his breakdowns. I was surprised to see so many people disliked him (probably Shōnen fans who can't accept a villain that isn't super-duper powerful). Finally, I love me some Disney Villain Deaths.

Anyway, Day 7: Of Amores, Per the Prophecy

Oh boy, does Arc-V have some banger ships. Some of my faves:

Fruitshipping:

Main-guy with Main-girl ships in most Shōnen anime tend to hit with the force of a wet fart, with Yugioh being no different. This is because they fall under the trap of making the girl be the only one who constantly thinks of protagonist-kun, whereas the MC is usually only thinking about fighting, eating, and their male rival who they're totally-not-gay-with.

Therefore, it's wild that these two idiots enamored the Arc-V so much as they, and it was via the use of a very simple trick: have both parties be clearly interested in one another. Seriously, Arc-V turns into an epic, interdimensional romantic drama from Season 2, and it's so strange for a franchise like Yugioh (even if it already happened in GX). Yuya spends as much time thinking about Yuzu as she does about him, and that's so refreshing.

One thing I love about this ship is how much they emphasize that the distance between them doesn't diminish their bond. In fact, it's the opposite, when they're separated that their feelings are most in display. Yuzu's duel with Chojiro is one such example: despite not being allowed near one another, Yuzu still had her feelings reach him.

Them being enemies in their past lives but lovers in this one also adds an extra element of brainrot for me.

Appleshipping and Fallenangelshipping:

I wanna re-emphasize this: we NEED more F/M ships where the guy is completely, stupidly in love with the girl. This applies more to appleshipping admittedly; seeing Yugo explode with joy from seeing Rin will never stop melting my heart. Male characters in anime are often shy of showing physical affection toward their love interests, but not Banana-boy. Plus, imagining how they grew up in poverty is interesting.

Serenadeshipping:

OMG THIS SHIP IS SO GOOD. LIKE I KNOW I HAVE MASSIVE YURI BIAS BECAUSE LOVE LIVE FAN BUT STILL. Ok so you obviously got badass and serious Serena with ray-of-sunshine Yuzu, so the dynamic is fun from the get-go. But we also have the fact that Yuzu became one of, if not the, first friends Serena's ever had. Plus there's the "changing clothes" scene and I'm sure you could do some gay awakening shit.

Also Yuzu is so happy upon seeing Serena late in the series. Just look at her!

And then when Serena betrays them she's so sad. DAMN IT ARC-V, THIS IS FROM THE FREAKING CAPTAIN SOLO EPISODE, WHY IS MY HEART IN PIECES?!

(Extra angst when you consider this is the last time they spoke before getting thrown into Arc-V)

Finally, I imagine she'd be happy to forever be with Yuzu at the end of the series

Lustershipping:

similar dynamic as Serenade, but with a rival-to-lovers tint. It's just cute, mmkay? Aesthetically, this is one of my favorites, Masumi's design is great

Genesishipping:

Sometimes, ships are more interesting for what they don't tell you than for what they do. The showrunners left the nature of Zarc and Ray's relationship ambiguous, which means there's a lot of possible avenues to take it. Enemies to Lovers? Sure, go ahead. Enemies that become lovers because of their new incarnations' unique souls? Works too.

Plus Zarcray fans make some Fire content.

Eight-page comic on how Larges & Titans are made - This is the first "large" comic I've ever made and I LOVE it.

I love the idea, I love how I executed it, I love that it shows off Optical's personality, I love that people seem to really like and vibe with this idea! I'm very touched that people accept this as their canon.

When I first shared it, I got to watch people discuss it! It was so cool to see people talk about what I was trying to show/explore in the comic! That's the best shit ever! and something I really thrive to do as an artist! Share the creativity, inspire and spark conversation!! <3

Helloess 👉👈 I usually lurk on your (or p much everyone's) blog bcoz I got that online social anxiety xddd and I've never rlly sent an ask before to anyone but seeing your posts lately about interactions and from how much I love your fics and writing gave me some courage to finally send you something!!

Can I just say that you're like my favourite JJK fic writer :') Like your mind is simply awesome— the dialogues you write and the original ideas you come up with are always sooo impressive and THE FEELS!!! The emotions I get to feel from reading your fics is crazy 😭 Especially in the older brother Sukuna one!! I actually discovered your blog thanks to that fic, lucky me :D I love it soooo much!! I re-read it recently and it managed to make me cry again over the sheer amount of pure love and healthy relationship dynamics overflowing from it qwq Like some of the chapters felt like being in therapy fr 😭 the way I had to just pause and BREATHE sometimes coz of how emotional I felt asdfghjkl

The way you touched some heavy topics in the fic too, some of which were very relatable as well, and wrote them sooo beautifully, it all felt so so comforting to me- like I'm not rlly alone in experiencing all these deep feelings, which was just super healing and I just wanna say thank you for existing and pouring your heart out into making such a beautiful piece of work and sharing it with us 🫶 it's so so lovely! And I used to be a Geto simp initially but your Satoru Gojo as Taylor series singlehandedly made me fall for him so deep like I've been obsessed for months now 😭 I love all the fics of it so much, I highkey believe I've memorized the scenarios in half of them from how much I re-read them lolol and they still manage to evoke so many different emotions in me each and every time! You're simply an amazing author 👑 To add, I actually have never watched AOT or know anything about it but your content is so addicting that I feel compelled to read those fics of yours regardless 😭 just because I can already guess how good they'd be as well uwu

i put this under the cut because i basically have every intention to responding to every part of what you say!

first and foremost - thank you for lurking on my blog, even to the point where you read the asks that other people send me. sometimes (and for a good amount of time actually) i wanted to answer asks so bad but wouldn't because i was scared i was annoying my followers by answering them all the time or telling people random stuff about myself just because i thought they were just following me for the writing.

tldr. needless to say, that it makes my entire world that you read my asks - about interactions and a lot of the stuff that i've been talking about lately - and that you sent me this ask, because it's filled me with so so much joy and motivation to get back into writing

oh best friends older brother sukuna. god, i can't even talk about what that fic means to me in so many ways, and the fact that it's resonated with so many people has actually healed so many things in me. like i'm not even joking, i've literally talked about that fic and read asks/comments to my therapist to like prove to her that this was like something real and that i put it out all there.

even from a writing standpoint, i feel like in the past i resorted to most of the cliche miscommunication stuff because it was hard to come up with stuff that moved the plot forward. but it was really interesting to write that and make most of the stuff external - and it really made me think about characters/emotions/what motivates people most of the time. yes, miscommunication is a big thing in relationships and not being able to talk to one another effectively will put a damper on things - but other things can to. and damn it sometimes it's nice to just love each other the way you should and handle it with care (which was basically the entire point of that fic anyways)

oh god, it makes my entire world that you called my characters emotionally intelligent. honestly, those topics were never like supposed to be part of the story - and most of the stories i write aren't planned out. i start writing and something came out of me. i was very hesitant to post those chapters, but in the end just chose to honor the fact that they're complex topics, they're nuanced, what i'm saying isn't wrong but it isn't applicable to everyone and that's okay. and even the fact that people find it relatable is validating for me, because almost everything in that fic is derived from a personal experience of mine.

oh gojo as taylor. to be honest, i thought it kind of fell off for a while but GOD everyone loves to see it and it makes my entire world. the first fic that i wrote on this account, almost a year and a half ago now, was literally a gojo as taylor before a gojo as taylor. it's a good omen.

GOSH, i'm so glad you're here and that you've read the things that i've written. you've given me such such kind words about them - most that i feel like i don't deserve - but that mean the world to me nonetheless.

also i've said it before and i've said it again. people like you who take the time to leave asks, or comment on all the details in the chapters, or just leave feedback or say that they enjoyed something means the world. most fanfic writers do this for free. i usually come home from a busy day or studying for midterms or just being frustrated and use this as a way to let loose. and really, as a reader, you could just read it and move past it without any penance to me. readers who take the time to comment, interact, and kind of create this space to me is kind of what fanfic is all about - I feel like I have my own little town of friends who all get and understand what i'm talkng about, and the fact that people want to entertain that and be here with me means the world.

Mac Walters on what happened with Mass Effect: Andromeda, what happened with Anthem and the notion of a sequel to ME:A -

Q. - "Does BioWare, has BioWare ever talked about doing a trilogy again, in the time that you were there, have you ever heard anyone talk about doing a trilogy again?"

Mac: “I don’t think so no, I don’t think we’ve ever talked about that again. Even with the talk of the next game, when we were talking about Mass Effect: Andromeda, it wasn’t really about, we knew that we wanted it to be a series for sure, but not a trilogy per se. We were looking, again, because we were innovating, we were like, we’ve done that, what else can we do? The early days of ME:A, I should say the idea of carrying plots and stories and characters through the series, and choices and consequences, was part of it on ME:A. In the early days of ME:A, I wasn’t on the project then, it was very much, some of the concepting had been inspired by No Man’s Sky, things like that, where it’s like hey, we’re a space game, what if we went bigger, something more procedurally-based, where you can really feel like you’re really exploring a universe and tapping into the exploration side of things. Ultimately I think that was too much at odds with a lot of the way that we tell stories and the way that we create our content, it’s very bespoke, a lot of big set pieces and things like that. It’s hard to translate that into a procedural world. But I think that was at the start at the very least, the innovation, what the teams were looking at. Most of the core Mass Effect team was still, I guess you’d call us consultants, we were definitely consulted on a lot of things, but because we were also building out Anthem, which was codenamed Dylan at the time. This was our first new IP in many years, you can imagine that my day to day was not only taken up with that but that that was what my interest was. I spent 2006 to 2012/2013 on ME, now I get to start again and also ground floor, now I’m the Narrative Director. So that was all-consuming. And as much as I wanted to help the ME:A team as they were consulting I was like, I think they got it, they’re good.”

After 1.5 years Mac was pulled back onto ME:A -

"Things were kind’ve in disarray, certainly from a leadership perspective as Casey had just left, as Executive Producer he had still been overseeing ME:A. Without him there they were lacking that continuity from the core leadership team. They also, I think, had just departed with their game director or creative director, so it was just that sort’ve void that they had there in leadership on the continuity side. So I came in there, and I would say that it wasn’t so much that it was in disarray or anything, but it was that pivot point, that inflexion of, we can’t do both procedural stuff and fulfill all the wishes and hopes of our fan base who really wanna see a lot of this bespoke narrative written in a certain way. So that was probably my first challenge, how do we marry these two things, or can we? That was the main challenge about that whole process, it wasn’t just making another ME game, which the team was well on their way to doing, it was how do we do it and also innovate in more of an open-world space [at the same time].”

The interviewer asked Mac about his feelings/thoughts on ME:A’s release and reception.

“I don’t know if people were too harsh. We had set a very high bar with ME3. Certainly, on some key areas we didn’t live up to that. I think the problem was, if you look at it just more internally and what we were looking at, it felt more like ME1 in the development. New engine, new cycle, brand new team (although a lot of veterans as well), but new team in Montreal. It goes back to what I was saying before. If you tried to put all the content of ME3 on the ME1 team it would’ve taken us ten years. Similarly there were just a lot of things that we had to relearn and refigure out on ME:A, and ultimately when you do that it’s very challenging to come out and be as polished as your third iteration was, and we didn’t hit that. And we probably should have in hindsight just reduced scope more and executed on what we could to quality. But we were also at a weird place/phase in the industry where a lot of people were saying quantity was quality, and so we were kind’ve, I think, you know, deluding ourselves internally a little bit like, you know, if it’s maybe not as polished as ME3, it’s fine, it’s bigger, there’s more here and more to do. We kind’ve hit a point where people were like, no, it isn’t okay, or at least is isn’t okay for your franchise, and that’s fine, it’s a lesson learned. I think ultimately when I look back on ME:A and what the team was able to do, it’s another phenomenal game. If we actually look at where we innovated and what you could do in that space, there’s a lot of incredible stuff. I only wish we had been able to then do a second one. Because then you would’ve really seen that polish, just like we did on ME1 to ME2 in the original.”

Mac was then asked how he/the devs felt about the backlash and griping against BioWare, inside BioWare.

“We definitely felt it, it felt like, there’s a couple things. One, on ME:A we’re trying to innovate onto a sort’ve open-world space and on Anthem we’re trying to innovate onto a free-to-play co-operative space, and in both cases what we didn’t do was marry that as well as we could to the expected BioWare Experience. On Anthem it was even more of a dichotomy I think, it almost felt like two games in one and neither really fully fleshed out, unfortunately, although still an interesting concept there. And I think even internally, we started to feel like there were people who were like, this isn’t a BioWare game, why are we doing this? And then of course it’s confirmed when it comes out. But the thing that I would often remind people of, especially people who hadn’t been there as long is like, again, when I joined BioWare, we were innovative, we were always trying to push, and innovation means sometimes you don’t get it right unfortunately. And what you really hope for is that opportunity to improve upon it, like on ME, you know, there’s arguably lots of things that we didn’t do right, but then we got to hone it and improve it on ME2 and then sort’ve perfect it on ME3. I think, you know, again, Anthem was already trending to something that was actually pretty unique and interesting, and had a really legitimate space and argument to be in the game space, but it just needed time there. And certainly had we shipped an ME:A 2 I’m 100% certain we would’ve improved on all the things that people called out and then also been able to lean into the innovative things we were trying to do as well.”

I've always thought that Jimin's home was uneventful and #plain. I also never really trusted that person who said that Jimin goes to art exhibitions a lot, and even if he did my thought was "he must buy art to give as presents." It's that kind of stuff that only makes sense to me and I could never explain to people why I believed that.

The elephant in the room being shippers' galloping schizophrenia???? As far as I know, he got asked about his moon tattoo and replied to that. There was no question about the photo or about Jungkook being in the photo.

Jimin used to post bon voyage photos only after the episodes were aired. I never expected him to talk about or post photos from the US because it was an official schedule. He was there filming, for work. If he ever talks, or posts about it, it will be once the content has been aired. Which is exactly the way he's moved for the past decade.

A lot of people really forget that they don't see or feel the same way we do about most things. Funnily enough, when it comes to shippers, they usually remember that when it's to talk about their careers or thing "solos" are complaining about. I say "hybe sabotaged Jimin" and they go "Jimin loves Jungkook!!!! You can't dictate how he feels!!!" (which none did anyways, but they immediately assume you're talking about their feelings).

So, they know that what fans feel about something it's not always what the members themselves might think or feel about the same thing. It's the same with these birthday greetings or whatever. They spent years saying Jimin didn't care that Jungkook never posted for his birthday. Well.. the photo might seem scandalous and boyfriend to FANS, but rest assured neither Jimin nor Jungkook see the photo that way.

Not to mention BTS members have been to the bathroom together, they've showered together, they've all seen each other naked, they've punched/grabbed each other's balls. What's even more, both Jimin and Jungkook probably have similar photos with their other friends as well.

I don't even wanna know how they're spinning the fact that Jimin didn't see Jungkook for his birthday, especially considering how they made fun of taekookers and used it against them last year because Taehyung didn't visit Jungkook on his bday. They kept using it as proof that jikook are dating and taekook aren't, but now jikook didn't see each other, so where does that leave them??? Besides, Jungkook might be busy but he was literally out having dinner with other people for his birthday and took photos with fans and then went live. So, free enough to go out for dinner but busy enough as to only fit a phone call with Jimin. That alone tells me it was Jungkook's decision, as almost everything is.
