summary: akaashi is kind. he's kind to you, but he's also kind to everyone. you need to make sure you don't misinterpret his kindness.

you'd always considered yourself an observant person.

you were good at watching people. you picked up on their habits, tendencies, movement style, and hidden traits. you picked up on how they responded to certain comments and the best way to be friends with them. you were on the quieter side, but you were well respected for being eternally considerate and kind.

also due to this nature, you were a very good judge of character. you found that the kindest and most interesting people were typically either very loud or very quiet, occasionally coming in the middle, though that wasn't often.

for example, take bokuto koutaro, the star pin on the team you co-managed. he was one of the loudest, bubbliest, people you had ever met, and also one of the kindest. he had a way of lighting up the room, and the way he cared for everyone you met was always heartwarming to see.

on the other hand, take someone like akaashi keiji, the setter on the same team. he was much like you. quiet, observant, yet one of the kindest, most tender-hearted people you'd ever met. he was a true gentlemen and was always considerate of other people's feelings and their boundaries. he was also in a few of your classes, and he was always so kind and warm. if you were being honest, you'd developed a small crush on him due to that.

you and akaashi were friends. being similar in nature, you two were quite compatible and got along well. you'd often study in the library together, and you took that as a chance to sneak glances at his stupidly handsome face every so often. however, his face wasn't the only part of him you loved. (though it was certainly an added bonus) there was something about him, aside from his kindness and good nature, that made you feel warm. welcomed. seen. you hadn't ever felt that way about anyone before, and you just knew that he was special.

you felt a gentle hand on your shoulder bringing you out of your trance.

after you two finished studying, he cleared his throat.

"uhm, l/n-san, would you like to stop by the cafe on the way to the train station with me?"

your eyes widened before a happy smile spread across your face.

"i'd love to!"

you walked with him to the cafe, making lovely conversation along the way. akaashi was kind, patient, and a good listener, too. talking with him was like riding a bike for the first time in a while. you're a bit nervous before you start, but once you do, its easy, relaxing, and fun.

"the leaves are beginning to turn orange." you commented.

"indeed. it's quite beautiful." he replied, a gentle smile on his handsome features.

"right? it's so pretty! it's a shame they'll fall soon." you said, an excited look on your face present before slightly saddening at the thought of bare trees.

he chuckled. "is fall your favorite season?" he asked.

"hmm.. maybe! i like how pretty the leaves are, but i'm not fond of how chilly it can get." you replied. "it's actually pretty cold right now. i probably should've worn a thicker coat or a scarf."

"oh, are you cold?" he asked before quickly removing his scarf. "here, take my scarf."

you felt your cheeks warming up. "no, no, akaashi-san, keep it! i'm really fine." you protested. he really was kind. he immediately tried to offer what was keeping him comfortable to you in order to ensure your own comfort. that selfless nature of his might be one of the sweetest parts of him - the ability to love and care for others, even when at the expense of himself.

"please, l/n-san, i insist. it wouldn't be good if you caught a cold. i'd be worried." your eyes widened slightly. he'd be worried? however, almost immediately after saying that, he gave a small cough. "i mean, the team and i, of course."

of course. he was just being kind. your feelings for him were beginning to make you misinterpret his simple kindness.

you accepted the scarf. "thank you, akaashi-san. i really appreciate it."

he let out a sigh of relief as he handed you the scarf. "of course. also.. you, uhm, don't need to be so formal with me." he started slowly. "i'd... be much.. uh, happier, if you just called me akaashi. we're on the same team, after all. you're the only one who still uses an honorific with my name."

you smiled. "of course, akaashi. that goes for you, too. just l/n is fine."

he returned your smile. "got it. thank you, l/n."

your heart skipped a beat when his voice spoke just your name. akaashi was making you fall harder for him by the minute, but you felt a bit sad knowing that your chances of being with him or him at least slightly reciprocating your feelings were slim to none. after all, akaashi was an extraordinarily skilled athlete whose personality, height, and overall good looks attracted many girls, even ones from different schools. akaashi's a very kind person. don't misinterpret it.

when you arrived at the cafe, akaashi had you order first. you ordered your usual basic latte, but he ordered a quad, something you'd never tried before.

when your drinks came, you noticed that his had a nicer aroma than you were expecting. he noticed you staring at him as he took his first sip and commented on it. "is something the matter?"

"no, no. i was just wondering what four whole shots of espresso could possibly taste like. i've never heard of anyone with that drink order before. and also, why four shots?! isn't that like, a ton of caffeine? you're not gonna be able to sleep tonight!"

he chuckled. "i need the energy. i promised bokuto-san i would set him some balls today, since it's a friday, and i have a feeling that we'll be going for a while. as for the taste, i quite like it, though it's definitely an acquired taste. bokuto-san tried it once, and he spat it at the wall." he said, chuckling at the memory. "i really enjoy the bitterness of the espresso. i think that out of the five flavors, i think that bitterness very well may be the most underrated one. well, it's in my top two, anyways. additionally, espresso contains immune-boosting antioxidants and-" he then stopped himself short, seeming a bit embarrassed all of a sudden. "ah.. i'm sorry for rambling. uh.. would you like a sip?" he offered.

you smiled. "yes, please! i think it sounds very interesting."

you took the cup from his outstretched hand and took a careful sip. you then began trying to register the flavor. however, while you were doing so, although your face remained stoic, you were internally freaking out. you just shared an indirect kiss with your crush, and he had offered it to you without a second thought. you just shared an indirect kiss with the akaashi keiji. you just shared an indirect kiss with him, and you were trying your best not to start smiling and blushing at it.

okay, first of all, i need this essay immediately. i literally do not care what it's about but words! lots of words! about kotlc! need.

ooh, thank you so much! i mentioned this in the post itself, but this is a rework. the quotes were originally in one post (copy-pasted from another post) and the explanation was in a reblog, which was hella annoying, so i condensed them. i suppose it does make much more sense now. and my explanation is based in the fact that i don't think people were understanding why this isn't a good thing to be saying, period, when i posted it for the first time. even without context.

yeah, keefe displays a consistent attitude of "sophie is so adorable and small and cute and ditzy and soft". seriously, if you don't believe me, read his perspective in unlocked (or don't, because i'm going to do it for you in my part two keefe rant). it's why i don't buy his accepting sophie as a leader in stellarlune (done in a very, very tell-not-show way, may i add), unless he went through some serious development in unraveled. i may have to dedicate a whole post to that topic . . . anyway, yeah, him calling her powerful and talented feels very, very, very tell-not-show, and when you look at his internal thoughts in unlocked, it portrays her very differently. i'm not a fan of the way he sees her, truly. it feels very dumbed down and uwu-ified. no quotes from unlocked have been put into the post, so i'll have to update it later, but if i included unlocked quotes, this post would be like sixteen times its length. but yeah, you should reread the series before you come to a serious opinion. i'm obviously incredibly biased.

Depending on how the show progresses I may change my mind but currently there seems to be a theme of manifestation, fate and destiny? This isn’t anti Claire…its a running on thought.

Claire’s insertion into Carmy’s life in the way that she appears can be considered fated just like Sydney, I don’t know if the writers room of the bear is religious/spiritual or just the show with the religious iconography being consistent and strong.

Maybe we are to consider that Claire was Carmy’s manifestation of fun and amusement.

Within modern spirituality we have the ideology that if you put certain energies into the universe you can attract/manifest your wants into a reality. In the christian religious space as shown in the ‘The Bear’ there is a similar ideology where God presents you with what you ask for or need if they/them/she/he sees fit. The presentation of that thing/want maybe because it is meant for you or its a lesson that you’re being thought. Similar sentiments to this can be seen across multiple spiritual and religious frame works but I’m a bit rusty on the topic.

So back to Claire, Carmy at the beginning of season 2 was primed and ready for some ‘fun’, we get some foreshadowing during his conversation with Richie about purpose; Richie is looking at pictures of his lost love Tiff whose friends with Claire. By the end of the episode we see Carmy attempts to ask Syd out but fails then he goes to his empty home which is when I believe he had time to sit and ruminate about his lack of a social life. This is when that manifestation would have happened, for Carmy it probably wasn’t actively manifesting or praying but the energy of want was placed into the universe by the act of google searching.

He manifested a ‘cool fun girl’, they made her this badass ER doctor, who has a perfectly balanced life, friendships galore, a social life and she’s already loved and accepted by his community. Claire is kicking ass and taking names, literally the antithesis of everything that Carmy is (lmaoooo @ the funniest but sad part is she accepted by his people while he isn’t). He missed out on the college atmosphere with Claire he gets a version of that, he experiences having his first girlfriend and love??? well what he thinks is love and he never has to apologise. It’s a whirlwind romance and everyone whose said that she’s a ‘manic pixie dream girl/doctor is right; she sounds unreal, everyone has some demons in their closet.

In the end premature fun and amusement tends to mask your problems, the bear will eventually rear its ugly head in some capacity soon or later once it remains unaddressed. Carmy unfortunately skipped some steps as there is a lot of self work and healing to be done, which we saw as Carmy’s deferred problems returned to haunt him. Escapism is avoidance; the bear was still on his trail and it ended up biting Claire in the ass.

Less means just some rumbles. Rain droplets/mist accompany the sakura petals when teleporting (not enough to soak, just enough to be like. Cool and energizing!!)

And if the above is true then I think new toudans at Nagame are basically born during a thunderstorm 🤔 LMAO in a different context that would be like...classic mad scientist vibes lol (like them animating their new creation, while thunder and lightning flash etc) 💀

I still am not sure how Exactly summonings work in a material sense (does a saniwa get like. The actual blade, like from the govt, just long enough to summon the sword? Or ..?)

But I think however it works, Yuichi performs the summoning alone and I think the...channeling he does is heavily emotional (?) more than simply spiritual, if that makes sense. Like... Maybe through this channeling he kind of... peels back layers to get to his core, where his power is purest and strongest, but also his emotions are most intense, and that's what he used to call forth a new touken danshi...?? It's not always a bad-emotions experience (he may be plagued with sadness and fear but he is more than that!) but still,,, He is probably then quite sensitive/raw after a summoning and might not be seen outside of his room for a day or two afterwards, unless it's necessary. Usually his kinji and/or one of his closer toudans are fine to check in on him but occasionally he'll request they just leave his food and go. Of course that's probably not the healthiest way to go about it but sometimes being near someone else is just too overwhelming.

I think this probably also instills a bit of guilt in him because that means he likely doesn't see any toudans he summons until they've already been there a day or two... :^( but he makes sure to greet them with food or something and try to spend some time with them once he's able. Thankfully, I think, he can do the summoning uhhhh remotely? this way the first thing a new sword sees is not A Mess and have to be like "uh...that's my new master? 😬"... Wouldn't instill a lot of confidence lol

Unrelated to that but I'm also thinking about if Taikyuu saw Harada Sanosuke while on a mission... Agh I think he'd have a hard time (unsurprisingly). Like he KNOWS he's not meant to be used as a main weapon, he's not an uchigatana anymore, and he KNOWS Harada favors spears anyway (he would love that spear to pieces if it ever manifested as a toudan), but I think part of him that's just so desperate to prove himself is so sad to see it in a way?  🖍️ When did you start drawing? Do you remember?  

I honestly started drawing when I was super young. I don’t remember how it started per se, but I think I was just really inspired by all the cartoons/anime and comics/manga that I experienced as a kid.

Although, I mostly started drawing animals at first (more specifically wolves because wolves be cool to me lol), since when I remember thinking drawing humans was too hard for me. But then I got inspired to start drawing humans in an anime style due to reading a HunterXHunter Manga when I was like… 11-12? (it was one of the volumes that cover the Chimera Ant Arc).

🎼 Your favorite music to draw to right now?

J-pop and Vocaloids music lmaoooo

Those are my always go to music to draw to. Although sometimes a song really inspires me for a drawing so I usually just repeat that song constantly until I finish the drawing (or the more likely case of me getting unmotivated to finish it lol)

At the moment, I’ve been listening to a lot of Yorushika music. I love their music a lot, been a fan of theirs for yearsssss

Well. There’s a lot of things that I wish my art would be.

Like I sort sometimes wish my art style would be more of a painting-style like I would see a lot of those anime artist on Twitter. But tbh, my drawing process be just too different due to me being so used to doing more line art drawings due to me used to inking a lot of my drawings when I used to do traditional as a kid. (It’s just a pen, usually that I would use to ink tbh since I was inspired by mangas as a kid).

And so the general coloring blocking process for most of the painiting-like style be a bit of a different art process for me. Although I do use it for backgrounds occasionally tbh lol

And of course I wish my general fundamentals skills are better, but that just me needing to actually study and practice them more. (Which I don’t really have the energy/time to fully dedicate to it)
