When a game is over and all hidden things have been found, what is there left to do? Move on. That's what you would have liked to have done after finishing the disappointing secret ending of a popular otome game. But when the story is over, and all things were said and done, you find yourself trapped in that very game. Faced with the task to keep everyone alive, can you make it to the end without falling in love?

Long read ahead

Chapter Eight

Schoolyard Brawl

Pins and needles. That is how you would describe the feeling that you’ve had ever since Makino showed up for class, like you were sitting on pins and needles. Anxiously, you were waiting for the time where Makino would be alone. The game never specified what time it was where she died, all you know for certain is that she disappeared half way through the school day and was found dead later on. You had a guess on when exactly it took place, ‘Lunch time is the only time where Akui could have killed Makino and cleaned it up without anyone suspecting it was him. If he did it during a class then he would have been questioned as to why he was absent for a class around the same time Makino died. It has to be lunch time, it’s the only time that makes sense.’

With a set time frame in mind, you found it even harder to concentrate during class, and it didn’t help that you were already struggling to grasp the concept of most of the subjects. Your eyes would either shift from the clock, heart rate increasing as the minutes ticked by, to Makino, sneaking glances at her ever so often. You couldn’t help it, whether someone dies or not is left all up to you, your nerves were shot, and it only got worse as lunch time drew closer.

During each class period leading up to lunch, you made sure to pay close attention to where Makino was, and your distractedness led to you appearing more airheaded than before, worrying many of your classmates, especially Yuki.

When lunch time finally rolled around, you had an excuse ready as to why you couldn’t eat lunch with Yuki, but Akihiko beat you to the punch. He approached you first, before Yuki could, and he had something he wanted to say.

“L/n-san, may I have a word with you for a moment?” he asked.

Taken aback by his sudden approach, any excuse you might have had suddenly left your brain. “Ah-Fukumoto-san, I’m not so sure about that. Y-you see I have to get going, a-and I am gonna be busy.” Unconsciously, your eyes flickered over to Makino’s form before they quickly retracted by to Akihiko. For the moment she seemed stationary.

It seems he caught your stare, because he turned to look at Makino for a brief moment. “Can those plans wait? It is very important that I discuss something with you.” It seems he wasn’t gonna take no for an answer.

Sneaking one more glance over at Makino, you decided to follow him because you didn’t want to make a scene. “Okay, if you say so…”

Stepping out into the empty hallway, Akihiko led you over to a more secluded corner, just a little ways from the classroom door. His sudden need to speak with you left you with a feeling of unease, not only because you were leaving Makino alone but also because you had no idea what he could want to talk to you about.

“So you said you had something to say?” you asked after a small silence.

Akihiko let out a sigh, awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck. “Well, several of our classmates have come up to me and expressed their worry for you.”

Taken aback by the news you say, “Me?”

He nodded his head. “Yes, they say that you seem more fidgety than usual, and I can’t say I haven’t noticed it either.” He stared you dead in the eyes as he said, “I have also picked up on the fact that you are constantly glancing at Makino-san.”

Feeling like a child who was caught with their hand in the cookie jar, you stubbled to say an excuse. “I-I have a reason for that! I can assure you that–that, it’s not what you think–”

He held up a hand to stop your ramblings. “No need to explain, I can assure you that she won’t be posing a threat to you anymore.”

“Yes, well–wait, what?”

“I know it can be hard to sit in the same room as the person who assaulted you, and you did go through a traumatic experience, so it is understandable that you would be more apprehensive than normal.” Akihiko said, pushing his glasses up and looking thoughtful.

‘Pose a threat? Traumatic experience? What is he–Oooh… They all think that I’m afraid of Makino. I can't blame them, really, I haven’t been as composed as I thought I was.’ You coughed into your hand, trying to clear up the tension on your end. “Yes, I guess you would be correct. Ever since what happened, she really has been worrying me. I thought I could handle it but then she walked into the classroom and suddenly I felt floored,” you said, thinking ‘I might as well play along with them. At the very least it gives me an excuse.’

“So it is as I thought, I must say this isn’t the first time that she has behaved like this, and I feel partly responsible as the only reason she does this is because of a crush she has on me,” Akihiko said, thoughtfully.

You blinked in confusion saying, “Wait, so you know she has a crush on you, Fukumoto-san?”

The topic seemed to peeve Akihiko as he scowled slightly. “Yes, well, she doesn’t do a very good job at hiding it.”

“Have you said anything to her about it?”

Shaking his head no, he said, “I have not because I see no reason to. She has yet to come forward and do so herself, and I see no reason to approach her about the topic.” Akihiko seemed to ponder for a moment before saying, “Though it seems that I will eventually have to confront her myself, if this is how she will keep acting.”

After taking in his words, you ask, “You said she has done similar things before, Fukumoto-san, what did you mean by that.”

In response, Akihiko signed before replying. “She and I both went to the same private middle school, and there I heard of many instances of her bullying the other students, more specifically the female students. She wasn’t very covert about it and would often get into trouble, but she has never gone so far as to hospitalize a fellow student.” With a hand on his temples, shaking his head in disappointment, he continued to say “I figured she would grow out of it as we left middle school and entered high school, but it seems she is still stuck in her childish ways.”

“Right, yeah, that can be difficult. But, uh–” You stopped mid sentence, noticing a teary-eyed Makino watching the two of you from around the corner. The two of you locked eyes, where she proceeded to send you a scathing glare before she turns and runs off. Panic filled you as you hastily excuse yourself. “Yes, well, thank you for worrying but I have to go now, lunch and all that, bye!” Not bothering to wait for a reply, you scurry off in the direction that you saw Makino go.

Each time you turn a corner you are only able to catch a small glance of her long brown hair whipping behind another corner, just barely giving you time to assess the direction that she is going. As you went to follow her, you were faced with an unexpected burden that you didn’t realize you had. ‘My hip,’ you think. ‘Gosh darn it, my hip is sore. I’m not running at my best!’ You didn’t realize how much your fall affected you until you needed to run the most, a sore and bruised hip making you hobble.

Much to your chagrin, you ended up losing sight of Makino down a deserted hallway. ‘No no no no no, no! I can’t lose her, what if she runs into Akui? Where is Akui? Did he stay with Yuki, or is he out here looking for Makino too?’ Coming to a stop, you try to catch your breath and calm your mind. ‘Okay, just keep calm. Panicking will get me nowhere.’ After a quick glance around your surroundings you notice a water fountain. ‘Maybe a drink of water will help calm me down,’ you think, making your way over to it. You lean down to take a quick sip, completely oblivious to the fact that you are the equivalent to a gazel at a watering hole.

Suddenly, you let out a horrible shriek as you were yanked back by your hair. “Ow! What the heck-” a slap to the face cut you off. Your perpetrator let go of your hair, and you stammered back with a pained grimace on your face. There was no longer a reason to find where Makino went because, as you turn around to confront the person, you discover it was Makino who pulled your hair.

“Makino-san? What's your deal?!” you angrily shouted, massaging your now sore head.

Makino’s face held a scornful one, face glossy from tears. “What’s my deal? I should be asking you that! Following me around after you were talking smack about me to Akihiko-kun!” she yelled, taking an aggressive step towards you. “What? Did you follow me to rub in the fact that my crush thinks I’m such a child? Ha! … Ha ha, ahahahah!” Hunched over, Makino let out an uncontrollable laughter.

Disturbed by her sudden fit of laughter, you tried backing up in case you needed to make a run for it, you had a sense that this was not gonna end well. “What the heck, Makino, you’re scaring me…”

Her laughter seized, looking up through her disheveled locks, Makino stared wide-eyed at you. “Scared? Wha-what’s there to be scared of, L/n-chan…” She ended her sentence with a quiet, maniacal, giggle. “Oh, that’s right… you’re scared I will put you back into the hospital. Hahahah! Come on, there’s–hey, hey!” She took notice of your slowly retreating form.

As you were about to turn and run for it, Makino instantly grabbed your sprained hand, wrenching you backwards. You let out another pained shriek, stumbled and almost fell, the searing pain making you weak in the knees, but the pain didn’t stop you from grabbing at Makino with your one good hand, trying to stop her. “Ah! Let me go!” You pushed and grabbed at her face, at one point you even managed to scratch at it.

“OW! You little bit–”

You cut Makino off with a jab to her side, causing her to stagger back slightly. Taking the chance, you try to make another dash for escape and hopefully alert an authoritarian figure. You didn’t get far, though, as Makino was able to recover and grab ahold of you. The sudden jerk to your arm caused you to stumble, leading to the both of you to fall to the ground.

“Arg! You tramp!” Makino yelled, scampering to climb on top of you. “What? Aki-kun wasn’t enough for you, so you had to go and throw yourself at Kaneko-kun too!” she yelled, starting to beat up on you. She punched and pulled your hair, all of your attempts to kick her off were futile and only served to frustrate her more.

“Get off me you psychotic lunatic!” You shouted through choked out sobs, desperately trying to block her punches.

“Shut it you floozy! You attention seeking harlot!” yelled Makino. “It must be so easy for a person like you to gain people’s attention. I desperately try everyday to gain the attention I want,” she hit you again. “and the one time my parents actually cared enough to check in on me is because I got in trouble, because of you!” Reaching up, she yanked on the stitches that had kept your wound together.

A horrendous, and pained, scream left your lips at the same time you felt a gush of warm, thick blood run down the side of your face. The blinding pain seemed to paralyze you.

“I bet you loved it when all those people’s attention was on you! I bet you even got hurt on purpose!” At her own delusional realization, she started laughing again. “HAhaha! Of course you did! Well here, if that is how you want to be then let me help you out!” Makino began to feverishly scratch at your face. When she felt like that was enough she began to pull at your hair. “Who would look at you now! Hahhahaha!”

After coming to your senses slightly, you managed to shove Makino away from you. You lurch to try and run again, but your delirium prevented you from doing so, you were only able to clumsily try and stagger to your feet.

“Aurgh!! You ungrateful hussy! Get back here!” Grabbing you by the ankle, she yanked you back down to the ground. Straddling your waist once again, her hands found their way around your neck. “Why do you have everything that I want! Can’t people just love me as well?!” She delusionally yelled, hands constricting tighter.

You gasped and wiggled around trying to free yourself from her clutches. When that failed you grabbed ahold of her hands to try and detach them from your neck, but your strength was failing you as you found it harder, and harder to breath.

“M-Ma-kin-o…”

Just as you felt yourself begin to lose consciousness, you heard a deep, angry voice yell out, “What the–Hey! Get off of her!” The weight of Makino was suddenly, and rather roughly, lifted off of you.

You let out a loud gasp as your lungs were finally able to take in oxygen. You huffed and panted, trying your best to steady your breathing. Glancing up through tear glossed eyes, you can faintly make out charcoal-black hair and ruby-red eyes. There was only one character that you knew off who had red eyes like that. Your hero, this time around, was none other than Matsumura Ryōta, the delinquent with a heart of gold.

Makino was shouting and yelling profanities, trying to wiggle out of Ryōta’s grasp. It seemed he was holding her back by the back of her uniform.

Now that Ryōta had put a stop to Makino’s assault, it seemed that everyone decided to show up. A few teachers rounded the corner, with a few of your fellow schoolmates following after, and were able to bear witness to the atrocious scene.

“What in the world is going on here?!” One teacher demanded. The students around them gasped and shrunk back at the sight of you, bloody and bruised with tears streaming down your face. Witnessing the situation out of context, many of them were quick to point the blame at Ryōta.

“Matsumura-san! What have you done?!” The same teacher yelled.

Dumbfounded, but not all that surprised, Ryōta said. “I didn’t do anything! It was this chick who was trying to strangle the other one.”

“What nonsense are you speaking?” They didn’t believe him, despite the scathing Makino he held back, and the whispers amongst the students grew.

“Look at what he did to L/n-san.”

“Did he really beat up a girl?”

“Scary!”

Now that you had a moment to calm down, you staggered to stand so you could defend Ryōta. “No! You have it all wrong, Matsumura-kun saved me!” You swayed slightly, going to stand in front of him. “Makino was the one who attacked me, I would probably be dead if it wasn’t for him!”

The crowd hushed at your sudden outburst, silencing falling amongst them, even Ryōta was stunned into silence. Before anyone could say anything else, Makino managed to break away from Ryōta and made a run for it. However, she didn’t get far as a few of the teachers managed to apprehend her before she got far. With the perpetrator restrained, the remaining teachers went up to check on you and to bring you to the nurse’s office.

After the nurse deemed you to be in good health and the teachers finished their interrogation, and after a quick phone call to your mother, you found yourself seated in the principal's office. With an ice pack held up to your neck, you were sitting rather uncomfortably in a chair as your mother let every adult present have it.

“This is the second time this week that my daughter has found herself attacked by this wretched girl!”

“Hey, watch your mouth about my daughter!” Makino’s mother retaliated, her father remained quiet.

“My daughter was in the hospital because of what your daughter did! And now she will probably have to go back because she tried to strangle her! I want justice!”

Makino’s mother scoffed. “How can we even be so sure that it was my daughter who started the fight, from what I heard your daughter was the one following her.”

“All my daughter wanted to do was check up on her after she saw her run away, crying. Besides, your daughter was the one who tried to run away from the scene, an innocent person doesn’t run,” your mother countered. “My daughter has a sprained wrist and sometimes can barely think properly because of trauma she sustained to her head, is it even logical to say that she would openly pick a fight?” Before Makino’s mother could retaliate any further, your mother held up her hand to silence her. “Yamamoto-sensei,” at his name, the principal turned to give his attention to your mother. “I expect there to be a more severe punishment than the slap on the wrist she got last time. We have an eye witness saying he had to forcefully remove that girl before she choked my daughter to death!” she pointed an accusatory finger at Makino. “Believe me when I say that I will be pressing charges.” Your mother’s face was stern and left no room for argument.

Makino’s mother looked flabbergasted. “Pressing charges! I hardly think–”

“That’s enough, Nanami.” Makino’s father finally spoke up. “I’m afraid this time there is nothing we can say.”

“But out daughter–”

“Needs to face the consequences of her own actions. She should have known better than to let her emotions steer her in the direction of violence, especially over a matter as petty as a crush.” He sent a very disapproving look towards Makino.

When everything was said and done, Makino was expelled from Kibou High school, and you were excused from attending school for the rest of the week, to rest and recover. Regarding what happened to Makino afterwards, well, all you really know is that she was expelled. After that day, her parents wouldn't say anything else on the matter and instead chose to settle in court. They ended up paying you forty million yen for assault and battery, emotional distress, and medical bills. Honestly, you think Makino needs to be psychiatrically evaluated, but you don’t voice your opinion.

You didn’t get to see Yuki afterwards. When you were finally able to leave the school, your mother and father rushed you back to the hospital, where your cut had to be restitched, and your sprain turned into a light fracture, so now you wear a green cast. In other news, you now had a restraining order against Makino that made it so she can’t stand within eight hundred feet of you.

When you get home that night, it is two a.m. and you're exhausted, so you go to bed, relieved to have prevented Makino’s death. Everything else can wait until tomorrow morning.

A/n: Is it obvious yet that I don't reread my chapters before posting them? Because I don't. I write each chapter in google docs before post them here on Quotev. The auto correct and grimmer correct normally does the job for me as I write but sometimes it doesn't catch everything and when I reread my chapters after I post them I pick up on the errors that are left behind. I'll probably need to get into the habit of reading over before I post so that this doesn't happen but for now I am gonna have to make some edits to previous chapters. With that, this concludes the first arc of the story, the prologue. For now, the reader thinks that none of the actions she did will have any effect on the plot, but is that really the case? I would also like to point out that, in the originally timeline of the game, Makino died by strangulation from Akui after the two got into a heated argument. Akui confronted Makino about her bullying Yuki and she said some rather distasteful things that angered Akui, leading him to snap and kill her in a blind rage. The scene of Makino attacking the reader is almost a direct parallel to that. That is a little easter egg for you guys, though I doubt anyone would be able to pick it up. I hope everyone has a blessed day, and if you can then enjoy the solar eclipse for me because I won't be able to. I will see you guys in the next update.

ah, that would be great because i actually searched cpl on urbam dictionary before i asked lol and i typed in a super formal way so that doesn't help either. apparently, the archive also glitches via the app too, tumblr definitely need to divert their focus from desktop to the app.

that's true, leander must be a hard cookie to pull of that feat and leander does seem like the type where you'll always guess what his next move will be. that's a good point considering kuras was able to attach the mc arm back to her body and make it almost brand new. his background would probably be the most important one.

i think their will probably be release when their character designs are finally confirmed/done but considering the game is coming out in 2025, we might get their sheets in 2024 :(

it's a bit hard to figure out vere's relationship with kuras and their dynamic since we didn't see them properly interact as a pair in the demo but it just goes to show how smart the studio is with dropping the right hints/clues for everyone to be head over the game.

mhin's relationship with the senobium also seem complex too so their and kuras/vere might be interlinked together in a certain way. well, i just hope that the game doesn't get delay to 2026 or something considering it's such a small studio. the demo took them two years to make.

that would be a sweet drabble to read and mhin's outfit is a nice finishing touch too. canva is a useful tool to make something like that, it's easy to use. that's true but i feel like with ais, he can afford to take that risk with his behaviour considering he does have the soulless as his servants.

i get where you're considering from because vere's outfit definitely seem to be the most gender neutral among the cast. i agreed with you but i feel like the studio chose the palette/outfit that suited the personality most of each character. but i feel like mhin got black streaks in their hair or may just be the roots or maybe i'm just overthinking it.

i will try not to esp irl but i feel like just from my replies to you/texting style, any fan can see that i mimics/or similar to mhin in some way lol. i actually said to my friend irl that if i send her text messages like you're my bff and i love you and stuffs like that, you would think my phone had been hacked and she was like i really would, LMAO.

that's nice! i find that easy to believe because you give those vibes off a lot on tumblr and just from your general replies with me. i slightly know about seventeen (kpop fan many years ago) it is awkward but at the same time, i'm pretty sure that his stage name (?) how did you get into kpop though?

tbh, i do wish that some otome games would focus on the breakup of platonic love because dealing/accepting it can be quite hard esp the aftermath. that's a great idea! it's hard to find that content altogether in most fandoms so that would be interesting to read and the representation too. what fem characters do you have in store? (if you don't mind revealing them)

it is annoying but sometimes, the studio use it as a trope to create conflict in the character troupe but there are other way to do that, they just need to brainstorm more ideas.

er, i would find that terrifying and morbid but i'm not a proper ais stan. well, leander was the only one with blushing/shy emojis so you are heading in the right direction regarding him. i suppose in that situation, it would be a lot easier for leander to play the victim card too like he could say i look after you so much, why are you being mean then? to the mc or something along those lines.

i think there are some yan! servers that you can join on discord to get help from other writes or just general advice if you want to improve. tbh, i remember seeing a yan! request regarding three characters from TR and one was Chifuyu but the writer replied i cannot do him because i can't imagine him as a yandere at all so it does happen!

what's nightowl? i think kazutora is a great candidate considering how unhinged he was in season 1. the best thing about ao3 is that the platform have a feature that tell you how many users had read your fics!

i'm looking forward to them! are they oneshots or headcanons? well, idm sharing because my username is different on ao3 but my writing style is quite particular and i'm not entirely sure whether you're a bnha fan but my tr fic is quicker to read compare to my bnha one.

i played the demo late at night so i didn't notice these things unless that was mention in the other origins route (?) he is and i do like how he give others a chance otherwise i'm sure he wouldn't want to know mhin.

it definitely sound like sen is super cursed then and she's most likely to appear in leander route the most. well, even his character design play that stereotype but anything can happen. i know who reo is LMAO.

well where i live, there was an event that increased the general price for postage/shipping so that's probably a factor but it is a bit too much for fans outside North America.

i never heard of paku romi so i can't make a comment on that but i trust your judgement! do you think the voice acting would only be the scenes with the CGs? at this rate, i wouldn't be surprised if the studio run out ideas for stretch goals lol.

yes! even though ais is my favorite, i think kuras and mhin have the most interesting back stories for me! especially kuras like, what are u hiding angel man?! not gonna lie, sort of hoping the chara sheets come earlier than that. i think they might to keep interest!! also what i found interesting during the demo is that vere was able to stay within the same space as kuras though, during the tavern scene!

from what i got from mhin's dialogue, i think mhin may have been a student at the senobium who was kicked out? or something along those lines! and i agree with the delay, but i'm also thinking that i could handle a delay in order to get the best finished product!

also eee, ngl i've used canva maybe once or twice and it's soo confusing to use for me *_*... i'm really bad at any type of editing or graphics, so i try to find premade things... but i really do wanna start making better banners for fics and such T_T.

eee i still have that ais drabble i'm working on but i feel like i'm in such a creative rut lately!! not sure why. >..< yes yes i agree! each outfit is def tailored to them <3 and they all look soo good eee. i was just thinking mhin stands out a ton for me personally!! also do they? i have to play the demo again soon! oo how i'd love to cosplay vere someday <3!!

ah which kpop groups were u into??? also, i used to play a game called audition online (OOF REALLY OUTING MYSELF HERE!!) and there were toons of kpop songs on there! i naturally fell into it that way :'). i was a big 2nd gen fan and did listen to some of 3rd gen, but not much. love love love jun from seventeen tho ehe. like whenever i see him i'm just like: ♡ (￣З￣)

ahh i see what you mean, i think the aftermath of platonic breakups hurts a lot more than romantic ones! ah.. i would i join a discord server, but i'm genuinely very very shy ;//;. i'm in a ton right now and i barely talk in them. even after a good convo, it's hard for me to start again cause i overthink a TON! also, nightowl is a character from the game blooming panic! it's a free game on itch.io! you should give it a try, you essentially join a discord server and fall in love with one of the members. which member you get depends on your dialogue choices too! i remember wanting to get quest first but i got nightowl and i was HOOKED from there, eep. <333

I thought I was done with this rant but I guess I'm not so let's lock in for part 2 of this bullshit!!!

So first of all: oh my god cybird, what the FUCK are you doing??

Second of all: using the Aladdin/1001 Nights aesthetic with any Cybird game would be bad, but it is not exclusive to otome because orientalism is a deep rooted problem across all gacha games (and east asian game companies in general)

Think about Sumeru in Genshin Impact, or #Those cards from Tears of Themis, or the Yogurca storyline in Cookie Run: Ovenbreak, or the Gerudo people from Zelda, or the Ul'dah region in FFXIV, or the designs for Nitocris and Scheherazade in Fate: Grand Order, or the–– you get my point

But using the Aladdin aesthetic for IkeVil? A game whose cast is made up of primarily upper class British white men??? Egregious on levels that I cannot even begin to process. I'm well aware that IkeVil is fiction, but it can still reflect real world biases and issues, and in this case they are literally... putting colonizers in the (butchered) attire and aesthetic of people they have colonized?? lmao??

Curses don't exist in real life and the Crown is a fictitious organization, yes, but Britain is a very real country that colonized more than half the world and devastated nearly every country it touched. Not to mention, orientalism is a colonial aesthetic; it uses racist, outdated depictions of the "Orient" (the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia, and East Asia) created by colonial powers to portray the people and cultures that were colonized as exotic, barbaric, and hyper sexualized (see how Harrison's outfit is completely showing his abs and body?)

It is extremely tone deaf, at best, and outright racist, at worst, to use an orientalist aesthetic for a game set in Britain, one of the worst colonizers of the 18th and 19th centuries. Whether the game and its writers choose to acknowledge it or not, much of the Crown boys do, in fact, benefit from British colonialism (they serve the fucking queen of England for the love of god). So yeah. I'm more than a little pissed about this event.

To end my rant here is a list I compiled of every South West Asian/Middle Eastern, North African, and South Asian country that was still under British colonization at the time of IkeVil's setting (given that IkeVil is set in the 19th century and heavily hinted to be around the 1890s):

Bellow the readmore is what I ended up (actually) submitting, if you want to copy and paste it, please make a few changes! But ultimately what I felt like was needed to highlight:

- Marketing issues and comparisons between other games that handled international marketing.

- The sudden nature of the announcement and how it impacted the player base.

- The fact the game does have a fanbase and has a market (leads back to the point of bad marketing), and that the success in Japan is an example that the game does have ability to be a hit.

- Other options that don’t include terminating the server (such as a temporary hiatus).

Other ideas: Events to connect with the fanbase (example: art contests where winners get “X” amount of gems), twitter events (“Y” amount of retweets in “Z” days will give “X” reward”), subtitles of the stage play so international fans have more content to interact with, etc.

“Hello, I hope this review/feedback finds you well.

As you can imagine, this is about the ceasing operations of the A3! English/International servers, and the opinions and ideas I (as well as other players) have.

I’ve been observing the way the player base has reacted to the news and, not so surprisingly, the reaction has been pretty negative. A lot of players feel overwhelmed with the sudden news, many disappointed at – what feels like – the sidedness of the decision. While we are all thankful for the amazing localization of the game, we can’t help but feel deeply saddened and, in more extreme cases, betrayed at the decision. The game has garnered quite a community, notably in social media sites such as Twitter and Tumblr, as it became quite a vital and comfort game for many.

Alongside seeing the way the player base has reacted, I looked at the graphics and economical side of things and noticed how players in the server have been lowering. Which, alongside the pandemic and loss of profit Cybrid and Liber have been experiencing as of the last two years, is what I imagine is impulsing the decision to halt activities.

With all of that in mind, I personally still think that terminating content to the English server is a bad idea — in the long run, that is.

The last two years have been quite a financial struggle for many, and to decide to end the game due to loss of profit seems hasty. While I understand it’s not possible to continue operations, I think halting operations until further notice would be a better idea.

Instead of completely pulling the plug, halting operations while focusing on marketing would honestly work better.

The marketing of the game has been, for lack of a better word, quite messy. I think there were lot of missed opportunities, marketing the game as found family and card game — where you accompany a group of people to achieve their dreams — would have been a better strategy than saying it was an otome game - which is what led to a lot of player joining and then leaving due to the lack of romance wh the characters. A good example of marketing, in my opinion, would be the Obey Me! franchise or games such as Cookie Run.

I’m saying all of this, but what I mean is, if the team behind it focused more on the advertisement on social media’s such as twitter and ads on youtube where the nature of found family and the true nature of Mankai (a company where family and brotherly love blooms) the game would find and flourish in the demographic, since it’s not unheard of players wanting a game like that — especially in the west.

Basically, what I’m saying is that I think the idea of terminating operations on the English server is a bad idea especially when there is an obvious marker for it, and A3! really does fit it. Personally, I think halting the events and focusing on marketing the game further — truly pushing the game with ad’s (which could include in game CG’s where we see how the boys grow and connect as a family) where the nature of A3! is shown clearly, A3! English server could absolutely bloom into something amazing.

A3! is about not giving up, even when things get tough, and to try and reach an audience – which is why, I guess, seeing you guys give up on it seems… sad and like a truly missed opportunity.

As someone who’s been with the game since launch, the game has so much potential, so please, please give it another try. Focus on the marketing, push it with ads on youtube and instagram, put the boys’ face out there and make the focus of the story known.

Look into the way games such as Obey Me!, the idol games (mostly female based), and other successful asian/japanese games have marketed themselves and try to adapt it into A3!. An example, instagram ads where you can see parts of a CG (let’s say the Muku and Yuki from Act 1) where Muku comforts Yuki, the voice lines there as you hear the game music and subtitles playing. Be honest about the gameplay, it’s not the most exciting, but market it as fun, add more rewards for when you train the actor — more gems or maybe trophies if you train “X” amount of times in a day instead of just a training card. You can even make more Eng server exclusive cards to insensitive Japanese players to also engage with the English server.

I feel like there are so many ways to go about it that don’t include shutting down the game, because shutting down the game truly feels like the easiest way out… but it doesn’t mean it’s the best way.

Anyway, I hope nothing in this feels malicious, I'm simply passionate about it as someone who’s invested hours and hours, almost 700 days of their life, onto this, A3! and the Mankai company feels like a part of my life, and as many others feel as well, I don’t want to let go. Not when I know there’s so many events and games, gachas and character, left for us as international players to experience.”

20. Vanilla | Aftercare

He got up from bed only moments after. You're laying on your back trying to catch your breath, and see if you can still manage to move your body.

You hate when he gets up right away. Just stay here and cuddle. That's all you want. When he opened the door to leave, Lumiere came running in and jumped on the bed with you. It's possible that this cat sees you naked more than clothed.

His little paws steps on your stomach and he lays down into the form of a loaf, laying between your boobs. Looks like you aren't getting up anytime soon.

"Lumiere," Leonardo sighed as he came back in. He came in with a tray, but at the angle you are at, you can't see what's on it.

"Well at least someone decided to cuddle with me," you pout, putting your arms around the black cat.

"Well alright," Leonardo sat on the bed, he was only in a pair of pants. "I guess I'll just have to eat these pastries all by myself."

"Pastries!" you get excited and try sitting up without disturbing Lumiere too much, but he didn't like you moving and got off to rub against Leonardo. "What kind!" you were like a little kid. You got on your knees and you set your chin on his shoulder to look down at the tray.

There were different kinds of baked goods and he even made some coffee. Leonardo looked at you and kissed your cheek. "But cara mia only wants to cuddle. What to do, what to do?"

"Ahh~" you open your mouth wanting him to feed you one of the cookies.

He picked one up and placed it in your mouth. "Guess I'll put them in this trash can," he laughed while you gave him a shove.

You laid back down, your body being curled around his. He feeds you another cookie and he takes a sip of the coffee he made. Leonardo set the tray on the end table next to his bed. He made you move over so he could actually sit on his bed. He was slouched a bit. He had his back against the headboard, but he was low enough where you could put your head on his chest.

You wrapped an arm around him and listened to his heart beat while you were still chewing your cookie. Leonardo sipped on the coffee in his hand while his free hand combed through your hair, bushing it out of your face so that he could see you.

It will be the first time that I will publish some headcanons of some character, in this case of Friday Night Funkin with Senpai, I hope I won't be ashamed of this later XD.

-Headcanons about your game

•The plot of his game basically consists that Y / N is a student in her last year of high school, who never knew love and suddenly a new and adorably attractive math teacher named Senpai comes in, and there in that game your goal is date with the teacher with all the cliches of otome games.

•The game format would obviously be a dating simulator, but with the variant that would be Hatsune Miku Project Diva or Uta no Prince Sama type ... I guess the first one.

•That Girlfriend liked about the game, she found it in Boyfriend: A cute boy with a taste for music (even if it's a few Beep boops LOL). With the exception adding that BF is funny, it isn't perfect but that is good.

•Senpai's personality in your game is like that of a sweet prince, but a bit clumsy, and it shows in his way of dressing. That he is passionate about music even though he teaches mathematics, since the position of music teacher was occupied. Also, when he falls in love with Y / N, he tries to be very sweet and chivalrous with her without his students noticing ... at least he does not favor her in his class. And when he lost in anything, just put in a Sad mode, for after will be happy again.

• His Good Ending would be that when Y / N graduates, make a confession to Senpai, he also confesses his feelings in an embarrassed way and now, happy ending. Also, after completing the game, it is possible to play the musical levels.

•His Bad Ending then in graduation, Y / N when confessing to Senpai because he is rejected, but since it is an A.I. "indirectly" senpai tells you that you can try again and how to get his Good Ending "indirectly".

-Headcanons about him

•Unlike his personality in his game, Senpai being an experimental A.I. , because "outside his role" he would be like a guy who has the character of Oujidere (an arrogant anime prince), somewhat perverted but perfectionist in some aspects, and that he is a sore loser.

•Aspects between his gaming personality with his real personality, as he retains the fact that he is quite clumsy, but he would deny it or be ashamed. Also, if he likes music and is passionate, but he is a perfectionist at that. Although he is narcissistic, because if he falls in love, instead of being ashamed, he would take the personality of a Tsundere and little by little being someone sweet ... with his pride even but just as sweet.

•Before the arrival of BF and GF, Senpai was quite aware of the existence of Spirit, although he does not take it enough importance and considers it annoying to listen to it and then ignores it. If he had been human then he would have been fuck off in the presence of Spirit and being his puppet for a long time.

•He is a cat boy, and a bit of Hamsters, is that for him they are so cute.

•Like an experimental A.I he couldn't develop much to be able to control electronic devices like Giffany from Gravity falls, and neither to modify your programmer and communicate with it like Monika from DDLC. But if he can have an understanding of it and even keep his memories every time he is rebooted as Seven from Mystic Messenger.

•It could be said that it suffers from an error called Error 707 that it is almost impossible to erase its memories when restarting it compared to its other copies of the past, but he pretends not to have any memory.

•He has a taste for sweet things like cakes and cookies, but also a taste for fish, such as Takoyakis.

•he is weak with spicy food even if he says otherwise, his watery eyes and red face would give him away.

•He doesn't like his full name at all, which is "Senpai McAnime Weeb", simply if someone asked him his full name he would lie saying that the programmers just gave him a name believing that there was no need to put a surname as with his age ... If he knew about your Wiki.

•Senpai may have died, but not completely, only his disk was damaged by Spirit which makes him look dead. So if someone can find his disk, manage to fit it into a PC and repair the broken parts of his programmer, it will be possible to be playable again, and perhaps the memories of the event with BF and GF, even what happened with Spirit will still be preserved. But the fact that Spirit is still doomed on its Disc is going to be a mystery.

-Extra Headcanons

•It is possible that Y / N is the one who got Senpai's game disc online because of his taste for retro games ... What? one way or another Daddy Dearest had to get rid of that disc, if he breaks it then Spirit would escape and he does not want to go back to the problems again, besides wanting to take him away from his daughter also so that this incident doesn't happen (although he himself caused it). and therefore better to pass the problem on to others.

•Senpai when meeting Y / N , Well...he would feel confused to have another carrier, in fact, he would be surprised if it works on a computer. Maybe at the beginning it would be out of place which would create suspicions in Y / N so the boy would try to "break the fourth wall" little by little until the girl understands that he has a conscience or ends up exploding and revealing himself in the middle of the game ... whichever comes first.

Ok, was so longer, but it was funny and entrertaiment. Maybe I will do a Love Headcanons after hehe

The End Of My Candy Love

Warning!

Alright, so. This post will contain a lot. First of all, it's gonna be really sloppy. I'm very emotional person and I easily get attached to games, movies and stuff. I know it's a bit weird, but yeah, I'm a weird person. Anyway, that's why there's a warning: there's gonna be a lot of sloppiness, grammar mistakes (at least I think so, specially since english isn't my native languange) and it's probably going to be long. So, if you're intrested in reading my thoughts about everything - good luck.

First Adventure

I first heard about "My Candy Love" in 2015, six years ago. So, I was basically a baby (I'm pretty young). And I started playing a year after, I got totally obssesed with Lysander and I fell in love, seriously, haha. I was into writing back then, but I couldn't find any ideas on "what to write?" and MCL gave me just that - inspiration (that's most likely why I'm just a romance freak).

My Story

You know, I was a child so I couldn't really pay for AP, but I always found some kind of way to get them. But then I got my phone I just used money from that, geez, I was nuts. The old AP system was so iconic, looking for Nathaniel, finding Kiki, I'm gonna miss it.

Anyway, I got along with Castiel pretty well (which suprises me 'cause I found about walkthroughs in 2017, like year after, so maybe it was because I was a brat?), but I adored Lysander. Oh, I also loved Ken (I was so sad when he went away) and Nathaniel. After I met Armin, I liked him too.

Again, being a child and playing a game like this I came across all diffrent kinds of emotions. I was laughing, crying, dying from embaressment (this thing with Nath and locker room, aaa) and getting seriously mad (Deborah's arc, Priya, Charlotte). I remember impatiently waiting for new episode to come out or crying my eyes out during Lysander's amnesia plot. Jesus. I loved the way Castiel was teasing Candy, I loved this cute-clumsy Kentin, I loved the old Nathaniel, I loved Armin and most of all - I loved my precious Lysander. I adored the interactions between characters, how funny or cringy they were and how much fun I had. I even like this secret-dating plot even when it got on my nerves. I still remember staying up late to watch videos like "lysander illustrations" and stuff. I also really enjoyed reading MCL manga and I spent hours trying to translate it from Spanish to English or my native languange (funfact: I still haven't finished it! I don't know where to find those mangas) or trying to draw something from the game up ending up terribly failing. Anyway, I was crying during the prom thing, my Candy was so grown-up, I got emotional, haha. So, 40 episode came in. I was pretty excited 'because, me, being extremely naive (I got to say, I've never had a problem with Beemoov before, I started playing MCL in 2016 and Eldarya in 2017, so there were no major issues with them, only the price of PA, I think) thought that my Lysander is going to propose (I was a child, ok?) and maybe, there's going to be a second season with us living together. Haha, how naive I was. Whole episode 40, really got me tearing up, I was a wreck, seriously (When Kentin couldn't take Candy's bra off I lost it or this whole ananas thing in Castiel's route, omg). But I finished it feeling happy. I truly enjoyed spending my time on this game. But, then this whole university thing came out. And the fact, that Lysander, Armin and Kentin won't be with us foe the next season. I spent entire vacation crying (I was a kiddo, ok?) and being mad at everyone. I felt like I got robbed. It was horrible.

"A New Chapter"

I was one of these people who just couldn't accept the change. Not in the world. Never. They stole my Lysander, Kentin and Armin from me and changed AP system to some kind of bullshit. God, I was mad. Really mad. Seeing Castiel was quite nice, but I didn't fill the void of my baby. But, oh, my, God. When I saw Nathaniel I just couldn't believe. I said I was mad? Then I was furious. I really liked the old Nathaniel, he had his own vibe, his backstory, his character and it was just, damn, amazing. But they changed him completely, for what? They wanted the second Castiel? Yeah, they got it. Priya as a love interest was quite a good move, tho. I even though I didn't like her (in highschool or in university) I liked the idea of adding a female interest. But the thing that hurted me, was the fact that Lysander was taking care of the farm. Like, no! He didn't want that. He didn't like the countryside. He had such a potential to become a author and Beemoov didn't let him. God, that broke my heart. Anyway, I didn't spent a single penny on MCLUL, but I have to say - I kinda enjoyed it. You know, it was the guily-pleasure kind of thing. I didn't like it as much as I liked highschool, but there were some good or funny moments. I loved Rayan's kiss scene. I adored Chani. Or Hyun making us watch "Toy Story". Nathaniel's ulgy green hair or all these crazy threesomes. I liked it. Kinda. I hated Nath tho. The ending, hm, it was okay, I guess? I do feel sort of nostalgic thinking about it 'cause I got some nice memories from it, in the end. But yeah, going on.

Love Life

Oh. My. Lord. I was so sceptical about it. Like, I was sure that, at this point they're going to do "My Candy Love Mid-Life Crises" next or some other shit. But in the end, I "kinda" like it. It wasn't good like highschool or fresh like university, but I was nice to see new chapters with our annoying-cringy Candy, that I love (btw, I started playing other otome games and I realized that Candy wasn't that bad). Meeting Eric was nice, even tho, this whole cheating plot really got me ragging. Like, damn, Beemoov, seriously? And if you going this, why not with old LIs? Just kidding. Anyway, I truly enjoyed meeting Dan and Eric, the two of them were quite a characters. I won't forget them, hah. I was happy with single ending, 'cause I think about it as a "open ending" when my Candy can go back to my baby and everything's going to be alright.

Regrets & Complaints

Now, now. Where do I start? AP system was a freaking nightmare. Replacing old Nathaniel with some kind of weird Castiel was a nightmare. Removing Lysander, Nathaniel, Armin and Kentin was a nightmare. Not finishing plots was a nightmare. And why in the whole Love Life I haven't seen Amber once? Why Alexy never mentioned Evan like they're not brothers? Why Castiel doesn't care that I was dating his bestfriend? And why, in the world, after changing the system finding Kiki is so damn easy? Why AP is so expensive? So many questions!

All The Good Times

But, I got to say. I will never forget this bitchy Castiel, cookie-monster Ken following us around. Or cute Nathaniel. Castiel buying Candy some kind of weird McDonald's. Or Lysander's parents exposing him having crush on Candy. Or seeing Kentin kissing Amber (ew). This super akward-funny sex ed lesson. Deborah's arc and losing my shit over it. Or Thomas (this weird child) stalking my Candy and her LI in the park. And Lysander asking us how to hide a body, aaa. Or Armin telling us he loves us. Or Kentin. And Cookie ripping this huge teddybear apart. Or the water fight in Kentin’s spin off. And crushing on Alexy and later on finding out he’s gay. Or spin-the-bottle game and Lysander getting jealous. What it worth it?

In the end, yes. Have I ever told you that I want to become a professional writer? Silly dream, I know, but writing is a huge passion of mine, and well, my first story was based off My Candy Love (it is cringy as hell, but I feel kinda nostalgic thinking about it). All these years spending on playing game that I wasn't supposed to be playing was amazing. It was one of the best experiences I had in life and I will never, ever forget that.

What now?

Well, Beemoov is working on a new game and I'm kinda optimistic. I know, it's really naive of me, but I want to believe that they won't f*ck this up, this time. And going back to Sweet Amoris, well, I truly missed this place! And the teachers... And Kiki. I wonder, when it will be released and will Beemoov finally open up about telling us surnames and ages of love interests. Anyway, I want to believe they learnt from their mistakes.

In the end. Thank you, My Candy Love, for creating so many memories. I will be forever grateful.

Also sorry this is garbage. I just wanted to write a little something for the handsome sorcerer ᵘʷᵘ

“(Y/n), please help him! He keeps trying to make us meals and I’m running out of excuses!” Luke cries to you, grasping your hands in his. You stare at him for a moment before turning to look at Simeon.

“He’s not wrong. His cooking is atrocious but we don’t want to be rude,” Simeon says calmly, further explaining the situation. At get-togethers, you’ve been a witness to others eating Solomon’s cooking and then being warned not to even touch the foul substance without the cook knowing. You feel bad for the cute sorcerer. He always seems so happy and proud of his cooking that no one ever wants to let him down.

“We’ve tried to offer cooking lessons but he doesn’t think he needs them! Please help us!” Luke pleads. You raise your brow at this, looking between the two angels.

“If he turned you down, what makes you think he’ll agree to cook with me?” you ask curiously, not understanding. The two males share a look before looking back at you.

“We just have a hunch,” Simeon supplies with a cool smile. You look over his shoulder to find the white-haired male walking towards your group.

“Hey, guys. Hi, (Y/n),” he greets, coming to stand next to you. “What are we talking about?” Before you or Simeon can smoothly come up with a lie or avoid the question, Luke blurts out the worst thing to possibly say right now.

“We definitely aren’t talking about your cooking or anything like that!” Yeah, Luke isn’t very good at—well, anything when he’s under pressure. You and Simeon both let out a soft sigh, hoping Solomon won’t think too much about it.

To your surprise, he starts to smile brighter than before. Awe, you really do love that smile. “Really? Well, I am a master chef after all. What dish were you talking about? How about the cake I made you last week? That was so good! I should make it again!”

“No!” Luke is quick to say before realizing his mistake. “Not by yourself, at least. I was just telling (Y/n) that I want to try one of their cakes. Why don’t you two make one together?” Wow, that was actually pretty smooth. Well, the first part wasn’t but he made up for it in the end.

“Oh,” Solomon says softly, turning to look at you, “do you want to?” You smile at the offer and nod your head, glad that their plan is going smoothly.

“Yeah, that’ll be fun!” you reply, watching his smile stretch out farther.

“I think so too. How about I walk you to your next class and we can talk about what cake we should make?” he offers, making you nod again. As you two walk off, the two angels share a knowing look with each other before they both head towards their next class.

You two decided to make two different cakes. One cake will be for Luke, Simeon, Barbatos, and Lord Diavolo to share. The other cake will be for the brothers to share. You two headed to the store after school to pick up ingredients, deciding at the store that you’ll make the first four a red velvet cake and the brothers a double-layered cake consisting of chocolate and vanilla.

When you arrive at the House of Lamentation, you get right to work. Almost instantly, you see what the problem is.

Solomon doesn’t read the instructions and just guesses how much and what to put in.

“Solomon, maybe we should look at the directions. We want it to turn out perfect, right?” you offer lightly, hoping he won’t take offense. He pauses from putting paprika into your mixing bowl, turning to look at you.

“Oh, okay,” he agrees after a moment, putting the paprika down onto the counter. You let out a breath that you didn’t know you were holding and grab the red velvet directions, starting to read the ingredients. Your breath hitches for a second when Solomon comes up behind you to read over your shoulder, his body so close to yours that you can feel his warmth.

“That’s what goes into a cake? Weird,” he comments after you both have finished reading the box. This makes you giggle, your hand coming up to cover your mouth. You turn around and find that he’s still very much so in your space, a pink color starting to dust his cheeks.

You sidestep him to get the milk out of the fridge. “Alright, start by adding the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in one bowl and sift it together,” you command, starting to work on your other bowl. He nods his head and does as told, his tongue sticking out a bit as he focuses on his work. You smile warmly at the sight before catching yourself and getting back to work.

You two go through everything step by step, getting the first cake in the oven in no time. “Teamwork makes the dream work,” he says playfully as you slide the cake in. You hum in agreement as you close the oven and set a timer.

“You only bake it for thirty-five to forty minutes? I always thought it would need more time to bake,” he comments as he watches you set the timer. You snort to yourself before starting to work on the next cake. This one took a little more preparation but it was overall pretty much the same process.

While the cakes were baking, you both started to work on the frosting. You two kept getting sidetracked though. It started with someone throwing a little flour at the other. You can’t remember who started it but all you know is that it meant war and you planned on finishing it.

After your flour war, which you won, by the way, you two got back to work and made the frosting. Someone, once again, started a war and it went on for a bit. By the end, you two had frosting all over yourselves and the kitchen. You two also ended up standing very close together. You make eye contact with him, feeling your heart start to race more.

His breath airs across your face from how close you two are, it smelling sweet like the frosting he’s been secretly eating. You’re probably just as sweet smelling as he is. Before you two can stop yourselves, you start leaning in towards each other. Your lips just barely ghost together when the timer goes off.

You two jump away from the other as if you’ve been caught stealing a cookie from the cookie jar. You quickly turn off the timer with a hot face, hurrying to get the first cake from one of the ovens. You set it down to cool before turning to face him once more.

“We need to make another batch of frosting,” you inform, seeing as how most of it is on you two. Your duo gets back to work and finishes with the second batch by the time the other cake is ready. You both take out the two layers before setting them down to cool as well. Once they’ve cooled off enough, you each take a cake to frost.

“They look so good, Solomon!” you say excitedly, looking over the cakes one last time to make sure they’re perfect.

“You look so good,” he responds immediately. You freeze where you stand, trying to let your brain process what he just said. He did say you look good, right?

You look over at him to find him staring at you with a red face. Okay, so, yeah, he said it. “Um, thank you,” you mumble, feeling your face starting to heat up. You watch him take a deep breath and take a step towards you.

He brings his hands to your cheeks as he gives you a kiss, your lips barely touching. He doesn’t kiss you long, almost immediately pulling away. “Sorry, I should have asked first,” he whispers, hands still on your cheeks.

You swallow thickly before speaking, your voice sounding shaky as you say, “I didn’t mind.” He doesn’t hesitate to kiss you again. And again. And then once more just for good measure.

“Why does that even matter? You got mad cuz I was flirting with him? Haha, why would you-”

You instantly regretted your words and you looked somewhere else

Asmo was looking at you, a serious expression on his face

He quickly made his way to your bed and sat beside you

You didn’t say anything for a few minutes

The kiss was soft, but then became a little rough as both of you couldn’t get enough of each other

“B-but why were you with that demon? You can’t just go around and-”

“I thought you didn’t want to have anything to do with me anymore. I honestly didn’t know what to do...I haven’t felt like this in a long time. So I thought the best way to forget you was to go for someone else...but I just couldn’t..”

You quickly hugged and kissed

Afterwards you two officially became a couple! Asmo loved seeing you turn red and always teased you by kissing you no matter the time or place

You would turn red and he would just smile thinking about how much he loves you.

As Belphie was falling asleep he felt you run your hands through his hair

I would love to see a Kyoya x Renge fanfic where Kyoya nonchalantly flirts with Renge and her not taking it seriously, thinking that he's just playing a character to get on her nerves until he admits that he does like her like that and she freaks out? I think this pairing has a lot of potential that isn't really explored in the Ouran fandom and I do think there's a possibility of Renge falling for Kyoya for himself and not as a living trope and Kyoya having interest in Renge for her quirkiness.

Shortbread Cookies

The silver platter of shortbread cookies rattled slightly in Renge's hands as she bumped the door to the retrofitted music room open with her hip. Balancing the try on the splayed palm of one hand, she waved jovially to the myriad of students and hosts lounging on the expensive sofas and armchairs.

"Hello, everyone! I brought shortbread cookies! <3" she announced ecstatically. During her time as the host club's manager, she had been practicing a multitude of skills, including baking. This was the first time that she'd delivered batches to the host club while it was in session, but seeing as the handful of first-year boys she'd cornered as guinea pigs didn't keel over foaming at the mouth, Renge was confident in her improvement. Humming happily, she traipsed over to one of the coffee tables and set the platter of cookies down. A few of the guests wandered over, curious, and sampled her flower-shaped handiwork.

"Ah, Renge, these are delicious!" a younger girl with a bob cut exclaimed after munching on one of the buttery cookies. Renge cooed shyly and clapped her hands to her pinkening cheeks, but secretly relished the compliment. The air around her rang with similar praises, making her wiggle her hips around in delight.

"Thank you; thank you!" Renge sighed magnanimously. "I am glad my labor of love is so well-received…" Renge’s pleased smile fixed on her face as someone suddenly came up behind her. They gently gripped her upper left arm with one hand, while the other stretched beyond her to retrieve one of the shortbread cookies. With a startled squeak, she whipped her head around to see Kyoya daintily bite off the end of the cookie.

“You’ve improved,” he remarked placidly. A pink hue rose to Renge’s cheeks, surprised at his sudden appearance and interest in her handiwork. Renge then pouted dourly at him, narrowing her eyes as she watched him finish the cookie with far too much vainglory.

“You shouldn’t tease me, Kyoya,” she huffed as she leaned down to retrieve the tray of cookies. It made her blush a little, because he was standing much too close for comfort. Her hip bumped against his as she bent over. He regarded her with lidded eyes as she straightened up and puffed out her cheeks exasperatedly. He must be teasing because he never complimented her, not without mischievous intent.

“Who said I was teasing?” he countered smoothly, plucking another cookie from the tray as she stomped off. Renge’s cheeks burned with anger and mortification; how could he tease her and look so damn sexy doing it? Mitsuki yelped when she slammed the tray down in front of him, but soon recovered to dive into the sweets with zeal. Renge flopped down on the sofa and crossed her arms vexedly. Renge had, of course, come to separate Kyoya and the otome character she’d fallen madly in love with, but Kyoya still derided her endlessly with honeyed words and false flirtations. She peered out of her periphery to find him reclining over the back of a couch, chewing on the shortbread cookie and smirking insolently. Renge’s cheeks flushed, and she tore her gaze away, furious at the heat that pompous grin alighted in her body.

I don’t know how anyone can fancy that jerk! she thought haughtily, flinching at the airy giggles of the girls who gaggle around Kyoya to fawn over the bespectacled boy. She grabbed one of her cookies and shoved the whole thing in her mouth, chewing angrily to dissipate her ire. “Handsome devil,” indeed. Pouting, she sunk against the back of the couch, wishing the fluffy fabric would just swallow her up and save her from Kyoya’s persistent, heady gaze.

Her irritation melted after enjoying some tea with Mitskuni. The childish third-year scampered off to treat some more patrons, so Renge remained on the couch, sipping at the scrumptious Earl Gray swirling in the lavender-patterned teacup. She hummed contentedly at the smooth warmth spreading over her tongue and closed her eyes to savor the bodied tea. She cracked an eye open when the couch dipped beside her, and her serene smile disfigured into a scowl.

“Kyoya,” she clipped tersely. He smiled amusedly at her while he poured himself a cup from the last dregs of the teapot.

“That’s not the type of expression that’s becoming of a lady,” he said with a slight jerk of his eyebrow. Renge curled her lips down to scowl so hard her pink gums flashed at him. Kyoya chuckled animatedly and threw his arm back around the back of the couch, regally sipping from his teacup using the other. “Why are you so irate? My compliment earlier was genuine.” Renge poked out her lips and stared critically at the dark-haired boy.

“Really?” When he nodded, she relaxed a little bit. So he really liked them, she thought with a teeny smile. Kyoya flashed her that devilish smile that seemed kind but masked his inner devious nature, but Renge entertained the idea that he was actually pleased with her progress. “I’ve been practicing…”

“Indeed. They’re a hit with the guests.” Renge’s silver platter was now emptied, with only a few small crumbs decorating the mirror-like surface. Most of the guests had left, for the deeper end of the afternoon was steadily creeping in. Still, a few small groups clustered around conversing amiably about Renge’s cookies, which made her squirm victoriously on the sofa. “You’ll have to bring them again sometime, Renge.” The girl squinted as she once again regarded him suspiciously. “What?” he chuckled, seeming slighted.

“You’re teasing me again.”

“Am I now?” he smirked with glittering, lidded eyes. Renge puffed out her cheeks at him at his facetious answer. She immediately released the air when he unabashedly scooched closer to her, setting the teacup down on the table though it was still half-full. She chuckled nervously when he pushed a swathe of her honey-brown hair behind her ear, his fingertips just barely caressing the reddening skin of her cheeks. Renge had been sitting close to the arm of the couch, so when he placed his hand firmly on the armature, Kyoya caged her in with his long, tall form. “That’s news to me.”

“Y-you’re doing it right now, Kyoya,” she whined loudly. “It’s been months since I came here; I’m not still hanging around because I think you’re some dating simulator character, okay? I like being here! So please stop antagonizing me over my silly mistake,” she pleaded. Renge knew that her obsession had been foolish, and she’d paid for it with humiliation and humility. No one else thought she still needed to be punished for it, so why did Kyoya chaff her so? It even made her a little sad, because out of everyone, she strongly desired Kyoya’s approval, as the one she’d pointed her misguided affections to. She bit down on her bottom lip as it threatened to wobble. “I’m sorry for how I treated you before; don’t you get that?”

“Of course I do.” His eyes widened with surprise, and Renge’s followed suit. “You really don’t think this is about that, do you?” Renge rubbed her sweaty palms against the yellow fabric of her uniform dress.

“I don’t know,” she answered timorously, looking unsurely down at her slightly quivering hands. “I guess… Even though what I want more than anything is your validation… It’s hard to imagine you’d ever really like me after the stunt I pulled,” she admitted quietly. The adapted music room had emptied, leaving Kyoya and Renge alone. Perhaps the other hosts had read the room (or, more likely, Haruhi had and ushered them out) because they’d disappeared into the adjacent rooms. When Renge became aware of the fact, a prickling flush swept over her body and made all her hairs stand on end- but not in a frightened way… more in an excited one. Kyoya smiled roguishly and grasped her hand to bring it to his mouth for a light, delicate, princely kiss that contrasted his knavish manner.

“I’ve found that I quite appreciate your idiosyncrasies, Renge. Believe me when I say that my dalliance is quite heartfelt. I don’t have any ulterior motives, aside from winning your favor, of course.” Renge smiled stupidly as her brain struggled to unravel the essential point behind Kyoya’s flowery words. A pink flush slowly crept up from her neck until her entire face glowed the color of fresh carnations.

“K-K-Kyoya?” she squealed in alarm, flapping her free arm wildly against the back of the sofa. “Are you saying-? Are you saying-?” The notion was so utterly ludicrous that Renge just couldn’t wrap her mind around it. Kyoya grinned wickedly, his eyes glittering like chips of onyx behind his glasses.

“How about I take you on a date tomorrow evening?”

With a squeal, she flopped back against the arm of the couch, nearly losing consciousness. Her head whirled, spinning the music room around her, and she desperately fanned her burning hot face to stave off slipping entirely into the darkness. She could practically hear the steam billowing from her ears as her brain overheated and spun into overdrive. She stared hazily at the white ceiling, until Kyoya leaned over her, pressing her body between his knees. “Renge? Do I need to call an ambulance?” he inquired gravely. The stunned girl managed to shake her head.

“N-no, I’m all right… O-oh, my heart is beating so fast!” Renge wheezed when she put a hand on her breast and found her heart palpitating so violently it was liable to break her ribs. Kyoya’s knavish smirk returned.

“I’ll pick you up at seven?”

“Th-that’s acceptable.” He patted her cheek before disappearing from her line of sight. She lamented the loss of his weight on the couch when she felt the cushions shift back into place with his departure. Renge laid the back of her hand against her forehead, feeling the heat slowly drain from her face. She then exclaimed delightedly and flailed about like a flopping fish, simply so overcome with happiness that she couldn’t contain herself. She hopped up and grabbed her cookie platter, clutching it to her chest as she rushed out of the music room.

I wonder if he’d appreciate it if I brought him more shortbread cookies? I’ll make some! Lots and lots! With a skip in her step, she headed down the hallway, daydreaming about the wonderful evening yet to come…

one that some might not deem normal but works well for us lol (I mean, we’ve been friends for about 10 years now) we have a good understanding of each other and know we don’t have to talk/hang out all the time in order to know we still matter to each other, we both have our own lives and just knowing the other is there no matter what is enough. we’re the type to not talk for weeks and then send random memes and act like we’d been talking the whole time😂 it works really well for me too cause i’m not good at “socializing” on a constant basis and tend to just...not text people for ages on end, but I’ll still care for them and think about them just many see it as me cutting them out rip

Jakou no Lyla - Trap of musk: European night

Come, look at me. In return, I'll show you the most wonderful dream.

Well, I'm supposed to study for an exam, I thought I'll only procrastinate & play for a litttle bit, but... Welcome to the newest hell I'm currently stuck in - Jakou no Lyla (人´ω｀*)♡

It is originally a 3 part PC otome game but has been ported to the Switch. This game is one out of 3 games from triAngle project, so... there is a Spy Ending where MC will be with both guys ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Longer details under cut.

The popular ranking (voted in Oct 2019) result is Lizaru (1), Jemiru (2), Kirei (3), Korei (4), Vince (5), Rolan (6).

Vince: ... I want you

MC uses her special tattoo to seduce Vince, it is working... kinda. But Vince is a tough cookie, he realizes something isn't right with himself, grasps his short sword and squeezes his right hand on the sharp blade in front of the speechless MC. He wants the pain to pull him away from the desire for MC.

V: Come in... Hey, turn this way. Look at me, Y...

During the Conference break, V saw MC talking with Rolan on the way to the market. He got very grumpy aweee. At the market, R fell down, MC helped R get up and her clothes got muddy too. When she returns to the palace, grumpy Vince saw her muddy clothes and told her to take a bath with him. He tried to kiss her but she pushed him away, poor V :’(

The special tattoo doesn't last long so the salon master comes to the palace to help her refresh. I thought she only has one on her chest, but apparently there is one on her back too :/ She has to keep it uncovered for 2 hours to dry. R came by and accidentally was affected by the tattoo. He started touching and kissing her back. She knows she has to push him away but she doesn't want to because she already knows abt his tragic past. She’s afraid pushing him will hurt his feeling (I'll explain his past in his route summary). She tried very hard to grab the veil, cover her tattoo and R turned back to normal, frantically apologized to her.

R: You don't need to think about anything. Surrender everything to me...

MC (name is Shirien) is a dancer at show salon Kamal. Her parents were killed, the village was destroyed. The salon master took care of her and her best friend Aisha so she wants to do everything to repay him. The master also helped another kid (who arrived heavily injured) named Jermiru and asked MC to look after J as his older sister. MC and J works as secret spies for the master. MC has a special henna tattoo (made from teromeana mixed with medicine herbs) that can seduce men to the point they lose all reasoning. Then she uses a sleeping needle on them to make them sleep & dream that they are ichaicha-ing with her but in reality, she tries to find materials/info in their rooms for her spy mission. In addition, she collects blood of young healthy ‘excited' men to help research a cure for the salon master's sickness. The master also prohibits her to kiss the men targets because it can sway her heart (hence she pushed Vince away in the bath when he tried to kiss her).

In part 1 European night, her clients are Theo (Vince's best friend) and Rolan Crydelle. Her mission is to seduce Vince to find out the whereabout of Pamela - Rolan’s younger sister - who they think was kidnapped by Vince when V destroyed the Crydelle kingdom. Theo will pretend to lose the drinking game and gives MC to V as a winning trophy.

V is a tough cookie to crack though, he pays 100% attention on his country/work, doesn't want to waste any time with women. In his country Lugan, women are not allowed to speak unless they are given permission. This is because in their history, a king lost part of the territory bc he spent too much time on women. That territory becomes the Crydelle kingdom. In contrast, Crydelle is led/dominated by women, while men only stays inside the house and cannot go out unless given permission by women. Rolan is a shy and naive because he is indoors all his life, he cares deeply about his younger sister Pamela, he carries a doll that looks exactly like her.

I only know a little bit about V from the common route and his appearance in Rolan's route, but he isn't as cruel as the rumour says. The more time MC spends with him for her spy mission, she realizes he (and his touch on her) are gentle and kind. Everything he does is for the benefit of his country. He did destroy the Crydelle kingdom, killed the royal family (except Rolan who was living in a secret room) so other princes at the Conference sneer at Vince during the policy discussion. Personally, I think the choices Vince suggests are actually effective and to the point, not wasting time trying to be merciful. In Rolan's good end, he even helps Rolan save MC. He gives me the IkeSen Nobunaga and MLQC Victor's vibes.

The last Rolan photo above the cut is after the confrontation with Eleanor (who looks exactly like his sister Pamela but said she is not Pamela), R is very sad and ran to the old harem area to be alone. MC chased after him and tried to comfort him. He hugged her and started kissing near her chest, offered to make her feel good and begged her to not leave him (poor bb ;u;) MC stopped him, tried to calm him down asking him to tell her everything. In short, due to his past, R always wants to keep people happy, he thinks pleasing people is the only thing he can do to make his life has some values, the only way to keep people staying with him. MC told him none of these are true. Even after hearing his past, MC didn't look down on/feel disgusted abt him, and told him from now on, he will learn many other ways to make people happy. This makes him very happy, he asked to hug her for a bit longer ｡ﾟ( ﾟஇ‸இﾟ)ﾟ｡

Tbh, when I first looked at the suitors, I thought I'd go with Vince, but oughhh Rolan stole my heart during the common route. I guess not likely many people will like Rolan (he actually ranks 6th out of 6 suitors, my poor bb ;u;). It’s okay, I luv Rolan. I love his character growth throughout the route, desperately trying to grow stronger to protect MC. And his yandere doll-carrying creepy vibe. His 2nd bad end broke my heart badly ~ like CxM Shiraishi's bad end 4 level of heartbreak（ｉДｉ）I will write his route summary after I (hopefully) pass my exam.

I enjoy this game much more than I expected: kisses sound yayyy (not DL’s level of kissing & blood sucking but enough to burn my ears huehue), nice arts and BGM (melancholy music to stab on my heart even more while reading bad ends, nice!). I prefer the bad ends, they are more haunting and memorable to me; good ends everything get solved quite easily, but overall the story is fine so far. I get completely sucked into this game and finished all 6 ends for Rolan and Korei in 4 days (what is sleep, what is exam :3) Normally I only play the routes of the guys I’m interested in then move on to next game, unless I want to collect PS Vita trophies and autoplay. But I have high hope that since this game can surprisingly change my favourite from Rolan to Korei (still very close, I luv both of them lotsss) from the route story, I should read everybody’s routes properly and see who my favourite are in the end. My 2020 otome game year is off to a wonderful start already ahhh~ (*´╰╯`๓)♬
