while i do agree that inclusivity should be welcomed and not fought against, the otome game title didnt change over time, ppl started using the title in tags for their games that werent otomes so that it would catch more eyes and get more visibility to make ppl play them (publishers on steam do this a lot and obey me is a victim of this too, no hate to om tho !! i used to play it) again inclusivity is a great thing but when we are talking about games like these each one has a different title to differentiate them and a lot of others arent aware of this, and since otomes are the most well known and popular they slap that name on all of these dating sim type games without learning the different names and differences. while it isnt an attack towards women players, you have to understand that there arent a lot of gaming spaces targeted towards women specifically, and most games are basically made only with men in mind, so since otomes are one of the few game genres made with women in mind they get defensive when others try and change it so it has men in mind when making them as well. most games are already made for men so it just feels upsetting for them to invade this one space where things are finally made with them in mind, so when they get defensive or say they there cant be male or gen neutral mcs, it isnt coming from a place of hate for queer people, they just want to have their own space where they can enjoy games that are made for them.

as i said before though there isnt an equivalent name to otomes with male mcs for no reason (bishojo) all of these games are dating sims but they have different names to differentiate the different genders of the mcs. this post isnt meant to hate on mcs of other genders, i welcome them all but otomes are made only for women and it feels weird to invade one of their only gaming spaces so others can feel included too when they already have multiple spaces

this is all my personal opinion as a somewhat new arcane enjoyer.

act 3 of arcane really ruined it all for me. one of the things that makes me love shows so much is when they make me just feel so so much. and arcane did this so well, especially in s1. act 1 and 2 of s2 also did this very well, tho not even close to as well as s1 in my opinion.

i felt sad about isha's death, but i don't really care about jinx's. this isn't bc i cared more abt isha than jinx, a million percent no, this is bc it didnt feel liek there was any weight to it. we saw a very small clip of vi sobbing then, boom, she's almost fine???? her humming powder's lullaby isn't enough, i need to see her grieve. jinx literally completely gave up because of isha's death. vi wasn't even close to being in the same position as jinx but that was still her sister. her sister whom she tried so hard to protect and get back and finally got her back. it just didn't feel real. and on top of that, everyone thinks she's not actually dead. i wish they showed the "proof" of that later or something because i needed that grieving period from vi.

i felt so strongly about jayvik and their whole dynamic snd ending this season. in act 2 i felt that the writing for caitvi wasn't as good as it was in s1 and act 1 but then it just pissed me off at the end. i kinda liked the fact that they were in a cell when they had sex lol but i feel like it was weird timing and also could be a weird setting. but what rlly got me was the fact they don't fucking talk. they dont talk it out. one of the bjggest reasons i love jayvik is because of their lines too eachother. theyre so devestating and beautiful and thats what we got with caitvi before act 2. i was hoping they would talk about alllll the problems they were having because they were having a lot but, either they didn't or we just didn't see it. the resolution to jayvik was so satisfying because we got to know all of their closing thoughts and emotions. we didn't get to see cait apologizing or vi talking abt jinx and it just felt so emotionless.

im really sad they got rid of all the political stuff. i feel like the first step to doing that was putting vi in an enforcer outfit but with that i thought theyd explore into it and the trauma around it even more. but they didnt at all. they put more of the oppressed into the oppressors outfits and called it "fighting against a greater evil" i think thats a fine thing to happen but not if you throw away the whole conversation about politics you were having beforehand. i felt enger towards the piltover people and council just because they were a part of the oppressive regime. after s1 i felt like they tried to act like those ppl were never in the wrong. they swept it all under the rug.

it really just felt like there wasn't a clear conclusion. what happened to zaun and piltover? the scene of sevika sitting at the table isn't enough (don't get me started on sevika I MISS HER). what happened to the firelights?? everyone says ekko lost everything but like do we know what happened to the tree or to the firelights??? i wanted to see the progress the two cities made and how PILTOVER compensated for their actions.

hello why is kaishin more popular than shinkai or what i mean is why bottom shinichi is like the most widely believed one? lol not really in the fandom just vaguely familiar with the anime from childhood it's just my mutuals likes this ship. i'd thought shinichi being the top would be more popular given his personality.

imma be real honest with you, anon, i've loved the kidco dynamic since i was conan-sized but i only realized kaishin should be making out around 2021 so i don't know if i'm the best person to answer this question LOL BUT, i'll give you an answer!

tbh, i think for fandom shipping in general, the main character more often than not is the chosen bottom and whoever else is the other party is topping them. in japanese media especially, the ship names are mostly born from putting the kanji of their names together wherein the order of which indicates the seme and uke. since this happens early on, we kinda get stuck with that as the popular ship name whether you prefer the other way later on.

perhaps kaishin is more popular but not entirely by a lot compared to other ships where it's completely skewed to one side. i see a lot of shinkai too. ofc there are people who prefer one way over the other exclusively and that's completely fine!

personally, i think confining them into seme and uke or top and bottom does a great disservice to the kaishin dynamic because to me we should be looking at their sub-dom dynamic more and why they're actually peak switch sub and dom!!!!

i think the appeal of kaishin is the push and pull between them. the give and take. they're always trying to one-up each other. sometimes one pushes and the other gives way, sometimes it's the other way around.

i will be honest, perhaps switch pairings might just be my preference but I have never encountered a pairing that felt this completely equal in the switch department more than kaishin. like for other ships i'd sometimes be like, "yeah they switch but A is 70% more dom than B." But for kaishin I'm like, "oKAY THEY'RE 50/50 THEY'RE EQUALS THEY'RE PERFECT HALVES RAAAAAHHHH"

now how does this answer your question? well, i have no proof and im going off of vibes and like i said im no veteran in this ship fandom but, i think a lot of people do enjoy the other way around as you think it would've been. it's just that...it's something that can just be filed under the kaishin tag too. because it's basically the same sometimes. the only different thing is who's topping and bottoming. like sometimes i'm scrolling through twitter and i'd see art that's giving shinkai but it's tagged as kaishin and vice versa lol.

also personally i prefer calling them kaishin because i love the letter k and i associate the name shinkai more with makoto shinkai so every time i see people refer to kaishin as shinkai, my mind just conjures up an image of kaito, shinichi, and makoto shinkai together and i know that's fucking hilariously weird but it sometimes happens!!!! LMAO so even if i'm thinking about shinkai stuff, i still prefer using the name kaishin lol.

(but having the kaishin/shinkai distinction is definitely still useful especially for people who want to filter through one way or the other so fuck yeah to the ship name shinkai you're here to stay!!!)

anyway in conclusion, top shinichi is popular too dw lol, or maybe i should say bottom kaito is popular too lol i see yalls

the thing with my world is that its a magically infested england and scotland thats been evacuated, leaving sentient cats named trolousa behind... so im working with mutated by magic animals and stuff <:]

oh man ive kinda been pondering my own creativity and where my ideas come from, so to speak, especially in regards to magic and how i wanna utilize it in my worldbuilding (for coev, but also for the WIP that's currently giving me worms rn fjfjf)

anyways,

ideas kind of beget more ideas, is the good news. the hard part is deciding on your base, which you've already got! magic that causes mutations! and in abandoned scotland and england as well!

research is some of the best ways to get ideas, and when i see your idea the FIRST thing i think is you need to do research on cherbobyl and other radiation disasters. not about the tragedy, though, so much as the life that continued in its wake.

one of the things you would learn is that melanistic mutations (which turn the animals colours darker/black) see a spike, because it provides protection to the animal from the radiation.

and in that one sentence alone, you have a thousand questions you could ask, which is the next part of worldbuilding. first question: if magic is analogous to radiation, then does that mean it has harmful effects? how do animals adapt to them?

and then the next step is you get fucking insane about it. melanistic mutations are cool but they're not as fantastical as you might want, so you can go ahead and make huge leaps such as "magic can be used by creatures to do X" and "animals needed to evolve ways to contain magic if they want to use it because its like housing radiation in your own body" and stuff like that. this is the stage where you get to utilize your most fucked up of interests to shape the direction you go. like if you like body horror, you focus on the grotesque aspects of magic = radiation. this is the part of the creative process where you need to know and trust your own interests and desires--you will find something profound when you pursue the bits that actually, truly interest you rather than spending hours following a curated list of worldbuilding questions

(which is not to bash worldbuilding questions, all im saying is if you want to spend 3894 hours researching radiation and the effects thereof because you're completely fucking deranged and don't really care about stuff like. cities and population density then it's your gift to yourself to put your entire pussy into radiation research because THAT is the thing that will enrich your story)

anyways, coming back to actually creating the creatures, you might by now over the course of your research already have ideas for things like common mutations and whatnot, which you can then go on to research the flora and fauna of england today and start maybe putting together what happened to them (each of them, one by one, is what i would do because that is my idea of a great time), how they adapted, etc

as for names well. i hate naming shit okay. truly the only solution i have is to give them a filler name and either that becomes the real name or i find something along the way.
