I love love love your In Stars and Thyme au and I can't stop thinking about after the events of act 3, I imagine Bonnie might flinch when being hugged by surprise because it'd make them feel like they're being grabbed by the King (which would make them similar to Siffrin on the fact that they have to be warned before contact)

i think immediately after the act 3 ending they are. inconsolable. for a little while. theyre scared about dying, first of all- but also just freaked out about how much it. mustve. hurt, yknow?

and probably theyre trying to explain this to the others… explain that everything hurts and theyre scared and they dont know what they want or what to do and no one really gets it. (save siffrin, of course, whom is seeing this and Definitely Not panicking that some damage was actually carried over. but also who understands how theyre feeling, as someone who at that point has died dozens of times).

havent got too much to say on this one, but yeah. bonnie has a freakout afterwards, probably gets left behind in town for that loop (the party might assume the freak out is due to stress about confronting the king, and they dont exactly have the Time to figure that out when theres a country to save). also worth noting this event is what puts siffrin in his “i need to do this alone, for their sake” mindset where he will do his best to Not involve bon anymore.

Creamy Beet Pasta Sauce with Thyme

[image ID in ALT] This recipe just popped into my head a couple of years ago, and it turned out just as good as I imagined it would! You don't have to stick with the amounts listed, it's not a finicky recipe and is easy to adjust to your preferences. I've put a really detailed version under the cut to save your dash. But here's a link to it if you prefer (and a link to the simplified instructions, though I suggest you read the detailed ones at least once since I added a lot of tips). As always, both imperial and metric measurements are included. You do need a blender for this, but it doesn't have to be one of those super fancy, expensive ones. I know the photo isn't very good, but this is my first attempt at photographing food, and I was getting really hungry and just wanted to eat, lol! Though it shows just how vibrant the color of the pasta sauce is, which was the point.

Creamy Beet Pasta Sauce with Thyme The recipe yields about 3 cups/750 mL of pasta sauce.

2 cups/500 mL chopped cooked beets (about three medium beets) (directions below – you can cook them ahead of time or use precooked ones, in which case see the note below about reheating it)

1 cup/250 mL raw cashews, soaked and rinsed (directions below)

about 1 teaspoon/5 mL minced or crushed garlic – or 2 to 4 cloves of garlic depending on their size and how garlicy you want it (keep in mind that as the directions are written the garlic is raw)

about 1 tablespoon/15 mL fresh thyme (see note at the end)

2 teaspoons/10 mL apple cider vinegar (see note at the end)

1 to 1 ½ teaspoons/5 to 7.5 mL sea salt or Herbamare

½ to 1 ½ teaspoons/2.5 to 7.5 mL fresh ground black pepper

about 1 ¼ cups/210 mL water

pasta – I generally go with penne for this sauce but this is your meal so follow your heart!

A) Rinse the thyme stems in cool water and place them on a kitchen towel to dry. You can fold the towel over the stems and gently pat down to speed up the drying process, thyme is pretty sturdy so you won’t wilt it.

B) Prepare the cashews. There are two ways to soak them, it doesn’t matter which you choose. 1) Slow method: Place the cashews in a bowl or container with a lot of room, cover them with 2 cups/500 mL water. Let them soak for 10 to 12 hours. They’ve soaked long enough when you can easily break them with your fingers. Fast method: Place the cashews in a pot and cover with at least 2 cups/500 mL of water. Cook on a low boil for 20 minutes. (If you use this method, pick a pot big enough to cook your pasta in, then you only have one pot to wash!) 2) Drain and rinse the cashews a few times with fresh water.

C) Cook the beets. You can use whatever method you’d like, but I recommend roasting them because it’s easy and retains most of the nutrients. Plus, I haven’t found a faster way to peel them. Though this method seems to work best with fresh beets that still have the greens attached. 1) Preheat your oven to 400℉/200℃. 2) Cut the greens off the beets and rinse off any dirt. 3) Wrap each beet in aluminum foil and place on a baking tray or pan. 4) Bake for 45 to 90 minutes, until a fork can easily be stuck into them all the way to the center. 5) Let them cool long enough to handle, about 10 to 20 minutes, then cut off the ends. 6) Under running cold water push the beet skins off. They should come off really easily without much force or pressure. 7) Chop the beets into smallish cubes – about ¼ inch/0.5 cm – for easier blending.

D) As the beets are cooking (and the cashews if you choose the fast soaking method), destem the thyme until you have around 1 tablespoon/15 mL of thyme leaves.

E) Start cooking your pasta. Of course the timing of this depends on your pasta of choice and how long it takes. But if multitasking is too stressful, cook the pasta once you’re done with the sauce.

F) Throw everything (except maybe the thyme – see #2) in the blender and blend until creamy. 1) Use the smaller amounts of the garlic, thyme, salt, pepper, and water at first. That way you can adjust it to your taste as you go. 2) You might not want to blend the thyme in. If you want stronger thyme flavor, a fully creamy sauce, and a deeper, less vibrant magenta color than blend it in. But if you’d like a lighter thyme flavor, are fine with the texture of the leaves, and want a bright magenta sauce, add the thyme after you’re done blending it. (For reference, the photo shown has the thyme blended in.) 3) Blend until everything is nice and creamy and the seasonings and thickness are adjusted to your preference. You’ll have to stop the blender and scrape down the sides every now and then. 4) That’s it, your sauce is done! Now just plate it up with your pasta of choice! You can sprinkle some of the thyme on top to make it look extra pretty!

This keeps well in the fridge for several days, at least up to four. When you reheat it, make sure you don’t cook it. Just get it warmed up enough to keep it from making your pasta too cold. I find it warms up really well in the microwave, but I’m sure the stovetop works well too. I have no idea if this freezes well or not, because I always eat it up too fast to try, lol!

Note about Thyme: Normally I’m a dried herb person but this recipe just wouldn’t be the same with dried thyme. So do yourself a favor and buy the fresh this time (lol). If you don’t know what to do with the rest of it, just tie the stems up with a bit of string or thread and hang it somewhere out of direct sunlight and let it dry. It should be dry in a few days to a week. You can easily take it off the stem by running your fingers down it, against the direction the leaves grow. Now you can put it in a jar and you have no wasted thyme! Note about Apple Cider Vinegar: You might be tempted to skip this, but please don’t! When you are using plants to replicate the creaminess of dairy, you need to add a bit of acid since dairy is acidic. You can replace it with other acids but your results may vary. Lemon juice is a poor substitute here in my opinion, and you need to use more of it. You could use balsamic vinegar, but you probably need more of that too, since it’s not quite as tangy as apple cider vinegar. The point isn’t to taste the vinegar, but to add that bit of acidity it really needs to shine.

Hey I saw your tags on that post about tragic characters and wondered if you wanted to share about your character? No pressure if not!

Oh absolutely!!!

CW Cults and Suicide

Okay okay! Background info: The story is about the MC taking a small group of teens on a field trip in the woods surrounding their town. Except actually he tries kidnapping saving these kids from the cult they live in. They end up spending like a month in the woods trying to survive and escape the cult.

So, the tragic character I mentioned in those tags, is a 14 year old boy named Kayden Ingram.

He's the golden boy, essentially. His mother has raised him in such a way where he is the gold standard of how the other cult children should act. He is incredibly anxious, all of the time. (But like lowkey)

His father is distant, his mother overbearing.

So his arc in the story is about how he's this perfect kid, I mean the whole reason he's even invited on the trip is because he is supposed to be a good influence on the two delinquent students. Yet the entire time he is uncomfortable, sleep deprived, at one point he breaks his ankle and he's never broken a bone before. His anxiety goes from background noise to a full blown orchestra. He just feels awful. But he can't let anyone know because good boys don't complain.

In the story I have these important sections that force each character to face their fears.

One girl is afraid of snakes, she gets bitten by one. One boy is scared of blood, he gets covered in it.

Kayden is scared of going insane, aka he has dementophobia.

He's having all these terrible experiences, and eventually he has this thought. And it terrifies him.

He thinks to himself "If I die, it would stop me from experiencing these problems,"

It makes perfect sense to him but also he's terrified because only an insane person would think something like that, right? Not a perfect child like him who has never even thought about hurting himself or others.

There lie two choices, and to him no other choices exist because he cannot let the mask fall. He is the perfect child he cannot let the others know he's having imperfect thoughts.

So either he A.) doesn't do anything and goes insane or B.) he embraces death to stop anything worse from happening.

Obviously to any rational person these are not the only options, but for poor Kayden he chooses the latter.

Another layer to his tragedy is how it's very clear he and his best friend (Frederick Elliot) have feelings for each other but they are on two separate wavelengths when it comes to character arcs so neither have the ability to actually tell the other how they feel.

At least I hope this makes him a tragic character. Because unfortunately almost none of this is getting a lot of exposition in the story because the POV third person doesn't focus on Kayden much except for the scene where he dies. There's also a few other things I'm leaving out because they're concepts in my head that I have yet to actually put into decent words.

oohh i did not think of this,, but i like it enough that i think i will incorporate it lol!!

mostly likely sometime during act 3. siffrin whos more focused on figuring out more from the king, the country, juggling watching over bonnie- vs bonnie who. honestly? is bored. of the loops. and thats fair that makes sense (i do imagine they have a frustrated breakdown about it at some point by the way, just being Tired and Mad and wanting to Leave but not being able to and it all spills out at once. more detail on that another time though). that is to say bonnie is more eager to be running around trying new things than siffrin is

“new things” includinggg some of the stuff i mentioned in this post, like new recipes, or maybe talking to other people in dormont, whatever they can just to do something new. (in this au, bonnie would be much more focused on those smaller option tasks from act 3- like finding the cursing of chateau book for the fan, helping out the stylish one, etc. siffrin helps when they ask them to, but again. more focused on the king).

that is to say- yes!! i think bonnie suggests teaching him to cook at some point. maybe as repayment for them training them how to fight, maybe just for the fun of it, but! they do! this is also the point bonnie discovers loop cant eat when they try to bring them snacks. ohhh well

For the ask game I chose one of my favorite segments from “Pup” (which I had a really hard choosing lol so I might be back with another later on)

The darkness making him up abruptly shifts, settling into something less formless. A broad form with a pelt draped across the shoulders slips into view, a normally kind face twisted into a smirk. Tattoos glowing a faint red as bangs brush across his forehead, and the golden wolf almost takes a step back at the familiar face now looking at him.

But he checks himself, standing his ground with a snarl.

“Perhaps it was forward of me, but I went ahead and introduced myself to your descendant,” the shadow says, smiling down at the young boy he’s still pointing his sword at. The child shrinks away, and he laughs again. “I must admit, I don’t see much of a resemblance.”

He suddenly dips down and snatches the boy up by his tunic’s collar, eliciting a startled cry from the child.

“Take a good look at what you become, Link,” he says in a low voice, ignoring the boy’s struggling. “Because this will soon be a future that doesn’t exist.”

Ohhh I had so much fun writing this part >:) I feel bad for traumatizing baby Twi... but he doesn’t even remember when he’s older so it’s fine he’s fine.

Dark Link knows that taking the form of Twilight will rattle our old Shade here more then he would ever admit— after all, for Time, it’s been ages since the Links all went their separate ways after lu, and seeing such a familiar face after so long... he doesn’t let it stop him from fighting him off to save the boy he stole his image from, but the fight certainly won’t leave his mind any time soon. (Poor Time! This is his worst nightmare).

This fic could be set at two different points in regard to lu, and I honestly like them both: the original spot where I had it set was before lu technically began, so this truly is Dink introducing himself to Twilight. I like that because it shows how committed Dink is to destroying them all, going so far as to head back in time and try to kill them before they’re even a threat (which ties in to brethren in a cradle, I think I’m so clever lol), and have the guts to taunt them while he’s at it.

The other spot where it can be set is after Twikight is injured and Wild destroys the darknut, and it reforms and creates a portal. Dink obviously has a personal vendetta against Twilight now, and he figures destroying him before he’s even a threat will greatly help with... whatever his game is.

So yeah, either works, and I like how they both fit tbh XD

This passage in particular really shows how much of a threat Dink is, which was part of my goal for the fic. There’s no lows he won’t sink to, even going to the lengths to attack an unarmed child who currently poses no threat to him.

Not to mention the taunting, like “Take a good look at what you become, Link. Because this will soon be a future that doesn’t exist.” BRO. That is a 2-3 year old you’re terrifying out of his mind, he has no CLUE what you’re talking about. I mean, Time does, but Dink is honestly more talking to himself at this point. He enjoys the fear though.
