I was wondering if you had any resources for people who don't have direct action groups nearby and still want to participate in direct action. I still rely on parents for getting to places and I don't have reliable public transit, so I don't have the option to go to many protests or direct action groups. Do you have any resources on things I can do in my neighborhood (that aren't little free libraries/pantries because my neighborhood doesn't have much foot traffic)

Look into the groups that are in your area and read up on the actions they do. You might not be able to go to events regularly but keeping up with local events is still good to feel like there's momentum! You also wanna look into what programs exist. I'm personally from an Oil loving/God fearing hick town and yet!! There's a million programs going on they just don't advertise or market themselves so you'd never know! Like I just attended an online webinar for Dark Sky Reserve policies for my town this week?? Wild stuff I'd never know if I wasn't researching my own city all the damn time
Cleaning/ gruella building public features are very cool! And something you can do in your own backyard or in the middle of the night in your streets or while your waiting for your shitty transit to get there! (I do that last one a lot, renoed some bus stops and cleaned them up bc I was BORED) Some Secret groups have starting installing benches/painting crosswalks/renovating bus shelters that do exist and technically that is something you can do. Also could look into adopt-a-stop programs.
Gruella gardening! Seed Bombs of native wild flowers and just chucking them around when you go on walks/go out or Moss Graffiti is also an option! Just pick an abandoned spot (on a walk to somewhere or just easily accessible to you in general)
Things like designing your own newsletter/zine/stickers for your community is also neat!
Check in with your Community Association! You'd be surprised at what those guys can do, I've seen anything ranging from movie nights and game nights to craft clubs and yoga classes to pubs/restraunts that fund the CA. Same goes with a community garden/fridge in your area. Those guys need vollunteers
Open up a free toolshed/ clothing closet at a school/library/CA center/abandoned building and hold a drive to fill it up. You'd be surprised at how excited ppl get over those!

Flint has never met Scott’s parents but knows how shitty they are and he, his siblings and parents have vowed to keep them away (Rashmi also knows and agrees they’re awful). Rashmi gets along well with Flint’s family, the boys have never met hers but she speaks highly of them so they have no problem.
Both of their parents were pretty shocked by the sheer size difference but both also fell in love with their child’s beloved very fast, both Reno and Adele are polite and very loveable and seeing how happy they made each other sealed the deal

Scott has no self-esteem, is very mistrustful and just couldn’t figure out what Flint could want in him, it’s been a journey of self-acceptance and reassurance but with patience they’ve gotten over it.
They didn’t really fight? If anything it was Adele being a very tired new mom who needed her husband home a bit more because she couldn’t do it alone (and of course he obliged)

A quality Genesis truly despised, as he felt HE was the main event and Seph’s early-bird tendencies were outshining his presence. Thus, it was another reason for Sephiroth to stay on his game.
Non-Ironically, Genesis made his appearance with a raised chin and firm shoulders, the usual, confident stance.
“Well, hello there.” He began.
“Genesis...” Seph returned the greeting.
“It’s unfortunate that you’re here first, like always, but If it’s the Goddess’s will, I’ll live with it.”
“As you should.”
Genesis’s eyebrow twitched in slight irritation but he carried on, seating himself behind Sephiroth.
A tensioned silence resonated in the room for a while.
“Hmm, you’re quite soundless today.” Gen finally spoke again.
“Just as you are loveless.”
A tiny smirk flared from the red-head’s lips.
“You know me too well. It seems you’ve figured I’ve picked the topic for today’s discussion, hmm?”
“Again, the topic is not up to you. It’s up to our instructor. And Genesis, even a deaf man would know you’re up to no good.” He spoke, throwing his silver locks behind his shoulder.
“Dammit. What did I tell you about that!” Genesis yelled, moving Sephiroth’s hair off of his desk. “I might just cut it and leave you bald for school the next morning.”
A chuckle fell from Seph’s lips.
The door creaked with an ear-splitting noise, signaling the arrival of their teacher. He settled his books on the dumbapple-colored desk. And with a clear of the throat, he said
“Genesis and Sephiroth...man, am I glad to see you two. You two are my fiercest competitors, keeping this club alive. Like really, I’d call for the Shinra helicopters if you two were to resign.”
Slightly concerned gazes held the boys’ faces.
“Hah, Just kidding! You should’ve saw your guys’ faces!”
Sephiroth spoke to relieve the weird situation.
“Yeah...anyway, Reno, I was just gonna say....I’m not really-“
Just then, Cloud Strife appeared; another fierce competitor.
“-feeling it today- you know what. Nevermind!”
Cloud sat two seats away from Sephiroth in the same row.
Best believe, the Nibelheim boys are always going head-to-head in Debate Club. Outside of club, they’re quite peaceful and social. But when school work has already worn them out for the day and there is added passion for the premise of their arguments, things get pretty tense.
“Good Afternoon, Cloud.”
“Not today, Sephiroth.” He replied, not even looking over at him.
Genesis leaned over his desk to whisper in Sephiroth’s ear.
“If he’s a puppet, you’re the ventriloquist.”
The silver boy rolled his eyes with an attractive smile. “Very well.”
“That’s the spirit!” Gen said.
Truth is, Genesis loves the drama that comes with Debate club. That’s why he’s the self-proclaimed drama king. He only wanted to hype Seph up so he could push past his drowsiness and argue with him and Cloud.
More students began filling up the room, but not too much. There we only like 12 members that engaged in this weekly mess.
Zack, Angeal, and Aerith snuck in as well to get a taste of the tea for today.
Zack is actually in a language club. It was an impulse decision for what he described as “broadening his horizons”. He said it’d probably be a good thing for him to learn French in case of a future mission he’d have in his dream spot as a first-class SOLDIER.
Angeal was also in a Spanish learning club. And as expected, he exceeds at it. His intermediate level and sexy accent grabs everybody’s heart in a way they’ve never felt before. No, seriously, people have swooned and fainted before. But he joins occasionally to save himself from the after school bickering.
And in Aerith’s case, Yoga club was cancelled for the day so she just decided to join and sit with her friends.
Their (somehow hired) teacher Reno began class promptly.
“Alright, everybody. I have a gratifying topic for you all today. It’s so temper-inducing that your brain won’t be able to handle it.”
“My brain can’t take this shit as it is”. Cloud mumbled under his breath, earning a few laughs.
“What was that, Mr. Stife??” he questioned furiously.
“I see you’re living up to your last name. Save it for the subject!”
He carried on.
“The subject is-“
“I have the PERFECT topic!” Genesis interrupted.
“I- did I ask for your input, Genesis??”
The drama king fluttered his eyelashes. “No, yet you always receive it, don’t you?”
Reno sighed. “Look, is it LOVELESS again?
“No.”
“Let’s hear it then.”
“Is Vincent Valentine, the former Turk, a hero or an Incompetent-
“Alright, we’ll have none of that. No shaming of the turks is permitted.” Reno cut him off.
“Anyways, my topic was “Should Shinra continue to experiment on future SOLDIERs to give them superhuman abilities or should they train them as natural human beings?””
“Sounds like a good topic to me.” Cloud responded.
“Same,” Angeal joined in “This seems like a topic where I won’t have too much trouble trying to pull these three from each other’s throats.
“Good, before we begin, don’t forget the rules! All weapons and devices should be in the weapon closet which I see most of you HAVEN’T DONE!”
At the mention of the said closet, everybody directed their attention to it. It had various scratches and dents, complimenting it’s dusty tone. And how could we forget the sizable hole on top of it. It emerged the moment Sephiroth tried shoving his masamune in the closet. Yeah, never again.
Everyone exited their desks, one by one, placing their weapons in the closet.
“Hey, what about your tasing rod, Reno?” Zack asked.
“I’m the teacher. I can do as I please, thank you.” He answered, classically.
“And don’t forget, we need an equal amount of girls and boys on each side. Too much testosterone on one side can cause hands being thrown as we’ve seen from previous experiences.”
“Umm I know I’m not really in this club and all but us girls can equally throw hands just for the fact that there are NO female SOLDIERs.” Aerith added.
“Fair point. You must join this conversation.” Sephiroth agreed.
“That’s my girl!” Zack praised while giving his girlfriend a quick peck on the cheek.
Reno let each of the students pick a side and then he split them into two groups.
“Everybody ready??”
“Yes!”

Wrote in 2016… For Yoga Day: A Blessed International Day of Yoga to you! It is now the International Day of Yoga in India, the Motherland of yoga. Yoga means union, and on this International Day of Yoga I have been reflecting upon all of my practices throughout the years, seeing how they are in union with each other. Not only a reflection on the union of my practices, but how yoga has been the central reason why I am where I am today. Here is an overall list of the practices and situations where yoga has helped, influenced, or been a part of my life: Armed Forces School of Music: Took two yoga books with me and took my first hatha yoga class while in training. War: Read Paramahansa Yogananda’s Autobiography of a Yogi while on a deployment to Tikrit, Iraq. Trumpet: Music and the trumpet are symbolic and align with yogic philosophy. Veteran: The yogic text called the Bhagavad Gita is set on the battlefield. Psychologically one can look at each day as a battlefield of activity. Partner Dance: There are many ways yoga has influenced my dancing. One of them is the symbolism behind the language of Sanskrit, said to be the dance of Shiva and Shakti (or the masculine and feminine principles). Naropa University: I am thankful to have studied yoga and tai chi at Naropa. I am now a yoga teacher and I love how tai chi principles align with yoga in numerous ways. Pranams and/or Namaste! Just rebloged that “solarpunk community center” art and now I’m thinking a Solarpunk Community Center. Like, how cool would it be? I wonder what they would have inside? Definitely some eco friendly arts and crafts inside. Maybe some stuff to make paper? For people who want to like, restock the paper used for the arts and crafts (maybe there’s an area where people can bring in their paper scraps and they use that to make the new paper?) maybe a little area for workshops to cycle throughout the week/month like in a library. I can totally see a day where someone comes in to teach people how to make paint and ink from plants and rocks (mostly paint from rocks). Maybe they would also have some toys made out of cloth and wood for the younger kids and like, maybe a little daycare like area? Board games for the older kids and adults, an area to work on computers and study, maybe an area that’s like a lounge/commons room? And definitely an area to fix things, like your clothes and electronics. Maybe they even have a little kitchen area for people to come and go with food and drinks. Idk I never actually been to a community center before 😅
Oh totally!! I think a community hub becomes something entirely different we see all over the place once most places becomes third spaces.
Like they could be a cafe/public kitchen/food distribution space, they could just be a neighborhood library with all the organizational stuff. It could be an event center. It's amazing to think about!
The community center near me, which is actually holding a vollunteer thank you tea today (but it's-35 and I don't wanna take a baby in that) but here's some of the services they already do so you should find the nearest community center and see what they got:
Little library/pantry/blockbuster outside
Fresh veg/fruit drop off is boxes for 35$ from local farmers
Game night - weekly until end of winter (mostly board games)
Movie nights - adult and kid ones (with snacks)
Free ice skating/garden plot when you get a membership
Jellybean dances
It's also got a pub in the basement where they sell a local beer primarily and have pool/darts/other pub games
A shared free circular store where ppl donate stuff and anyone can come and pick up whatever (lots of books/toys/clothes but also dishes and other stuff!)
Yoga, Dodgeball, and kids music classes
And hopefully next year a communal kitchen and girl guide meetings once the halls renos are done!!

Skye Fitness Gym sits at the head of Uptown’s behemoth architectural complex. Enjoy breathtaking views of the city while shooting hoops on the gorgeous open-air basketball court. Sulani Redux | Pier Perfection
“When living right on the water is a goal, you can find Pier Perfection right here.”
With a name like Pier Perfection, renovating this starter house into a gym was a no-brainer—especially with a bodybuilder like Oliana Ngata living in the neighborhood! I kept the home true to its original shape but extended the porch and added a second story to the back to add a teeny bit more space. It’s still a very small gym but what Pier Perfection lacks in size, it makes up for with just about every kind of fitness equipment under the sun (everything but a rock wall) and an energizing seaside environment.
Just past reception, you’ll find unisex changing rooms and weight machines. Out on the lanai, grab a mat (or bring your own!) for a yoga class, or step out of the sun and into the steam in our lava rock sauna. Upstairs, get your steps in on a treadmill, practice sparring with a heavy bag, or find your inner tranquility meditating on the balcony.
