They're endgame bc I said so. They're both one of the oldest royaltines ocs I have (Neela was literally the second after Rachne that I posted on my art blog) and they've been an item for almost the whole time

They get out and socialize enough because of work, so when they have free time together they prefer to spend it with just the two of them at home

Usually it's Quina going out to do chores and Gene tagging along, sometimes they might go on a walk to the beach for a bit (or Gene goes to dig a hole), but he prefers to stay home.

Ruhn is as cishet as they come, Neela is pan with a heavy lean towards men, it's not really something that effects their life (though Ruhn knows) so it's of no issue.

Quina is bi/pan, doesn't matter to Gene. He strikes me as someone who doesn't know his own gender or orientation nor does he care

They will hold hands and maybe peck on the cheek, that's it. Usually they do PDA when Neela needs encouragement and comfort

I think they will have one little bird baby. Perfect blend of mama's glam and dad's gothique aesthetic. Neela's nervous as she is of everything, Ruhn approaches the matter with his typical aura of it is what it is. Both love their little baby though

They have two I'd say, both love their kids like nothing else, Gene was more anxious but Quina is a wonderful balance to chill him out and mellow into parenthood

They don't hide, but Neela had to fight in the group chat for a while for her family to be convinced that he's a good man for her. His family is very happy for them.

People were worried for Quina but also he's always been sweet to her (and only her), it kinda made sense that a bullied girl would stick to the one kid who defended her from the others (and that he'd stay with the one who's been healing his wounds). Also nobody would dare to tell Gene anything

Ruhn treats Neela like a princess and holds her hand and adjusts her tail and her clothes like a professional, she feels very secure and smitten after he's fluttered around her a bit and ensured things are looking good. He finds is endlessly amusing how she still blushes violently and can't look at him in the eyes when he does something romantic. You got a crush on me babe?

Smiles for both of them, Gene smiles so rarely it gives Quina butterflies. And her smile just lights his world up. Also when he can nap on her lap and feel safest and vulnerablest is a feeling like no other for them both

Hi Sara! Just wondering, has the lamb always seen Finor as a mother figure, or did they only start seeing her that way as she got older?

The Lamb has always seen Finor (and Ratau) as parental figures. Although they didn't make it apparent for a very, very long time.

Imagine a freshly sacrificed/resurrected Lamb, who's constantly dying in horrific ways because they're not yet accustomed to being a warrior yet, with no one else to turn to but the mentor that's helping them learn how to be a leader, and the follower who they found in that same sacrificial position, who's lost everything as they have, and understands it.

It is also more on Finor's actions that influenced their attatchment. Finor at the start does not join becaue she believed in TOWW, but she joined because she looked at her savior aka this blood soaked tear stained shaking shiver Lamb and went 'oh that baby needs someone'

They were both as eager about each other, just got to know each other while meeting in the forest, only trying to stab each other a little, it was obsession at first sight tbh

Not really, if anything the first time Lowri said they'd meet again and then returned to see Mara in the woods

Hungry and eager, Mara almost got strangled by the snakes but he was just into it tbh. Took his breath away

Lowri was in a relationship with a castle guard (one of the usurpers) from when she was about 14 to around 18, until it turned sour and she killed and ate him in self-defense and the guards purged the walls and most of her family. He was her firsts. Mara has been offered wives and brides all he likes, so he had experience but never a very serious relationship (he was in a one-sided relationship with a woman who then caught him with Lowri, he silenced her in turn and framed another cultist. He wasn't super into her like she was into him)

Lowri is not super short but Mara is a giant of a man, his weirdo legs give him more height. Lowri is a bit older also, they met when she was like 26 and him around 24

Both are fairly quiet but always observing, quick to act. Very devoted to one another. Mara is very self-assured and almost cocky, while Lowri is more submissive and her self-esteem is on the lower side.

Lowri helped kill Mara's family members, Mara met Lowri's only living relative (her ancient and blind grandmother) and got her approval (because she didn't know who exactly he was)

Lowri is the senior spymaster so she takes the lead during important castle meetings, Mara mainly sits and watches and agrees to everything she says. They're pretty content just in their own bubble and not interact with others, but they're cordial and pleasant with their allies, that's when Mara is more talkative

Neither really gets jealous, their immediate wrath is directed at anyone who might get sassy with the other. If the other one gets flirted at they're mainly intrigued, not jealous. Obvi you want my partner, look at them

They have very different pasts, but both have experience in hiding, growing up in semi-danger, and killing their previous partners

They don't have to even open their mouths to do it, but on occasion Lowri has to tell Mara to can it for now because she's working

Nothing, tbh it's very hard for them to do that. Only thing Lowri was more quiet about was about her nightmares related to living in the castle walls, that one Mara had to coax from her. Now he can beam happy thoughts into her head when she seems antsy asleep

Neither, they believe they were meant to find one another at the beginning of the universe

They barely argue but usually they find solid ground and will apologize for losing their cool (in whatever minute way they did). Both will apologize at the same time

Izkiel isn't alone in protecting Lyssa but he's very fierce about it, man would fight Orion if she allowed it (please don't beat up a disabled, dying man). She will patch him up any day of the week while gently chastising him.

Lyssa will give useful items she notices he's lacking, but also sweets, small decorative stuff, maybe a framed picture of them both.

so I’ve been gaining a lot of insight into the animation industry recently, especially in regards to pitching & the creation of new shows. There’s a few ways to go about it.

First, there’s pitching to a studio. When you pitch, it has to be SHORT and CONCISE. You may write a lovingly detailed pitch bible that perfectly breaks down episodes and characterizations, and it might barely even get read. First impressions, first impressions, first impressions!

Most peoples’ first projects don’t get picked up. I’ve heard a few stories from directors that said they tried pitching a story they’d had for years, which got rejected, to then spend a week or even several hours in their car coming up with a new idea, only for that to get greenlit.

But that’s not the end of it. Just because a show gets greenlit, doesn’t mean it will ever get finished. There’s lots of things that can happen. Sometimes, unexpected major world events (like… a global pandemic) can cause projects to get chopped. Sometimes, a CEO change or studio merge means a single person can decide a project “no longer fits with the company’s brand.” Sometimes, the one producer that was rooting for your project gets laid off, and no one else cares enough, so it gets shelved. Sometimes, a streaming service decides to create an animation department, and then they decide they don’t want it anymore. Sometimes, the studio will be simultaneously be developing another project that was too similar to yours and they just didn’t think to tell you until they decide yours is the one with less potential.

On top of that, almost everyone in the industry is saying that “studios just don’t pick up original content anymore.” Studios want something they can franchise, something that will bring in money. New content is risky. Established fanbases are safer.

However! Studios can still be a very good thing. They can be unionized. They can provide better benefits and resources. They can have connections and infrastructure and a larger volume of workers. At a studio, you can divide the labor and produce more in less time. Longer episodes, longer seasons, more consistency in quality.

But this comes with all of the disadvantages of having more in the kitchen.

The alternative is indie animation.

With indie animation, you have total freedom. Full artistic control. It doesn’t even matter if your idea sucks ass, because there’s no one to tell you you can’t make it. You could make it anyway, and you can make it whatever you wanted.

The thing is, making animation is hard. In my production class last semester, the average maximum animation one person could make in that timeframe was 30-60 seconds, and that’s not even counting background design, sound design, or cleanup/color. To make a 5 minute animated short, you should probably have at least 5 people.

And it is CRUCIAL you have a production manager. Ideally someone who’s not already doing art for the project. Most projects without a production manager will fall apart pretty quickly. Once the adrenaline and impulse-fueled motivation wears off, you need someone to hold you accountable and enforce deadlines and proper time management.

Speaking of time, that’s also hard to get. The more people you have, the more likely schedules won’t line up. Most people will have school, or other jobs.

And it costs MONEY!!!!!! You either have everyone work for free and volunteer their time & energy, or you establish a business as a proper indie studio, with people who may or may not have experience on how to handle paying someone else’s salary. And the money has to come from somewhere, so you have to rely on crowdfunding like patreon or kickstarter. (This, by the way, is why I could never fault an indie animation for releasing merch with their pilot.)

And like, maybe you wanna do a series, and all your friends agree to volunteer their labor and time to make the first episode, but it was unanimously not sustainable. Deciding not to produce a second episode until you can raise enough money is not being suddenly greedy, it’s attempting to compensate people rather than expecting them to be continuously taken advantage of.

You have to consider your output as well. There are some outliers like Worthikids, who afaik does all his animation himself, and afaik can work on it full-time thanks to his patreon subscribers. And he still has only produced a total of 30 minutes of animation (for Big Top Burger specifically) in the past 4 years. This is an IMPRESSIVE feat and this is with using a lot of 3D as part of his pipeline!!

Indie animation also has the complication of being more accessible for fandoms. When you’re posting your Official Canon Content on youtube, it doesn’t look a lot different than the fandom-created video essay in the sidebar next to it. What’s canon vs what’s fanon becomes less distinguishable. The boundaries are blurrier. When the creator is just some guy you follow on twitter, it’s easier to prod them for info regarding ships and theories and word-of-god confirmation. They don’t have a PR team or entire international tv networks to appeal to. And this is when creators get frustrated that their fans snowball and turn their creation into something they don’t recognize (and no longer enjoy) anymore.

So it’s tricky.

Thankfully, the threshold to learn animation is fairly low nowadays!! There are TONS of resources online to learn it on your own without forking over a couple hundred thousand to a private art college. There are conventions and discord servers and events where you can network, if you know where to look.

I know it can seem discouraging in the face of capitalism, but I think that’s all the more reason why it’s so important to BE DETERMINED about animation!! We’re already starting to see the beginning of an indie animation boom, and I think it’s a testament to humanity’s desire to tell stories and create art. Even if there’s no financial gain, we do whatever it takes to tell our stories anyway.

Rushing through the doors of The Hideout, you're greeted first by the familiar rush of smokey air, and then the gruff smile of Nick the bouncer. Squeezing his arm as you walked past, something near the stage caught your eye.

Gareth had spotted you the moment you walked in, and was now waving frantically. Subtlety had never been his strong point, and today was no different. As each step took you closer to him, his eyes darted between you, and the side of the stage.

"Where's the fire, G?"

Following his gaze, it took only seconds to zero in on the source of his panic.

Eddie was kneeling at the edge of the stage, tonight's setlist clutched tightly in his ringed fingers like a lifeline. Leaning dangerously close to him was the She-Devil, dressed in her usual skin-tight clothing. Her real name was Tiffany, and she'd graduated from Hawkins High a few years earlier. She had a thing for guys in bands, and apparently, Eddie was really doing it for her these days.

Tiffany had been to the last four Corroded Coffin shows, each time doing more and more to get Eddie's attention. To her, this seemed to mean wearing less clothing, and invading Eddie's personal space more. You'd been a little surprised when Eddie had brushed her off the first week, but it was clear that he wasn't interested, something she wasn't, or didn't care to understand.

The first time she'd shown up to one of their shows with a few friends, it had earned Jeff a punch to the chest while the boys were packing up. He'd joked that you had competition for the title of their number one fan. You'd not so politely reminded him that you were their first, number one, and sometimes only fan, and that if he ever disrespected you like that again, you might slip and tell Ms. Dunne the math teacher about the dream of his she'd starred in.

Looking back at Gareth, he gestured wildly.

"You have to do something!" He went as far as to grab you by the shoulders and shake. "You have to save him."

"First of all, you've been reading too many fantasy novels, Gar. You need to take a breath."

It made you laugh a little as you watched your friend visibly inhale, as if it was the first time in a while that he'd done so.

Looking back over your shoulder, you took a breath of your own, trying to come up with an idea. Though you weren't above violence, The Hideout wasn't the place for it. You didn't want Nick to have to get involved, and it'd be a pain in the ass for the boys to have to find a new place to play for five drunks each week.

If you were being honest, you didn't want to get involved either, but Eddie looked like a drowning man, and as his best friend, you were almost legally obligated to help him in this situation. He winced as Tiffany ran a blood red nail down his arm, and that was the final hit of courage you needed. You just hoped what you were about to do wasn't going to blow up in your face.

Steeling yourself with a few deep breaths, you gave Gareth's arm a final squeeze and turned to where Eddie was in She-Devil's clutches.

"Hey, handsome!" Eddie's head whipped towards you at the sound of your voice, his eyes wide.

Before you could second guess your actions, you pushed yourself up on your tiptoes, and grabbed Eddie's collar, pulling him close enough to press your lips to his own.

The kiss was quick, over before it had really begun, but Eddie's hand came up to circle your wrist, his rings cool against your heated skin. When his eyes opened, you widened your own, pleading silently with him to play along.

A scoff came from behind you, and you called on everything you'd learned in tenth grade drama class as you turned to face the She-Devil herself.

"Oh, hi! I hope I'm not interrupting. It's just so hard to keep my hands off this guy when he's in the same room." Before she could say anything, you looked back over your shoulder to Eddie, who was trying his hardest not to laugh. "Sorry I'm late, baby. Heather just kept talking about her boyfriend instead of helping me close up, when all I wanted to do was get here to see mine."

At the insinuation that Eddie was your boyfriend, two things happened. Eddie's arm snaked around your shoulders from behind, and Tiffany huffed loudly, before turning to stomp away towards the bar. Once she was out of earshot, you turned to face him, raising an eyebrow.

"Mission accomplished?"

Instead of saying anything, Eddie slid himself off the edge of the stage, coming to rest directly in front of you.

"You-you kissed me."

"I know, Eds. I was there. I'm sorry. I just couldn't think of anything else, and you looked like you needed help, and-"

"You wanna do it again?"

It was pointless to try stopping the blush that spread across your cheeks, so you buried your face into Eddie's chest, feeling the rumble of his laughter. Folding you into his arms, a calloused hand found a home on the sliver of skin at the base of your spine, making it very hard for you to think.

"My hero," he whispered into the crown of your head.

"Sorry I was late,"

Pulling back a little, he shook his head.

"Nah, you were right on time."
