I think some people are conflating the concept of buck having his oh moment with the full recognition of his feelings and what it means and accepting that.

When the reality is his oh moment is not full recognition and acceptance - it is not his complex and tangled up feelings magically untangling and becoming simple, it is actually the moment when he sees his entire world being shattered and come crashing down around his feet - those barriers, road blocks, walls, fences and whatever else he erected in his mind are the rubble around him - his unexplored and buried feelings are molten liquid and it is starting to trickle out through the cracks in the rubble.

So he’s not fully cognisant yet but now the trickle has started - he won’t be able to stop it - he cannot go back or turn off the tap.

He is still misunderstanding the assignment - but not for much longer - because the trickle will become a flood and he will become increasingly aware of exactly what those feelings are and what they mean!

So yeah he had his oh moment but that does not mean he knows what that oh meant actually means - it’s just the start - it’s bucks spiral kicking into gear and it will only stop with recognition and acceptance - then he can move forward!

The moment Buck snatches the tablet, he regrets the decision. It’s an invasion of privacy—but they don’t keep secrets from each other, he knows that flipping the tablet and seeing a regular tab of pornhub open won’t actually embarrass Eddie, or make him upset. In the promo we see Maddie getting kidnapped:

The person seems to have long dark hair. You know who has long dark hair? Our guest star Abigail Spencer. In the promo we hear her for a brief moment and it seems like she’s a detective on the case??

So I’m going to say that Spencer’s character is either the mastermind or is an accomplice to the big bad and why they can never catch the serial killer.

me: it’s just that. buck didn’t have a couch. he never really had a couch at all. because his exes always got custody of the couches after their break ups. and then. eddie teases him and tells him that he should really have a new couch by now. and then buck replies that he “doesn’t want to pick out the wrong couch again”. but then his mom buys him one while he’s injured. only, buck can’t sleep/recover on it. so he goes to eddie’s house, where he is able to instantly pass out on his couch. very much akin to the way eddie’s own son would btw. which! notably draws the same affectionate reaction out of eddie (finding both of his boys knocked out in a similar manner on his couch). anyway. then buck’s couch gets ruined when he helps deliver his own biological child that he donated sperm for on it. and so buck asks his girlfriend at the time to help him pick out his next couch. and then that girlfriend gets written off the show, buck uncovers that he’s bisexual, and oliver stark says that the couch theory isn’t real. but then 8x06 ends with buck once again running to the comfort/safety of eddie and his couch. in the midst of eddie letting loose and allowing himself to feel joy. and the last shot of the episode is the both of them sitting side by side on eddie’s couch together. both of them not really knowing what’s coming next. and also eddie’s pantsless. 👍

okay so what if eddie goes to texas to get christopher back. but buck just tags along. for this, MY BUDDIE GLASSES ARE WAY WAY WAY OFF.

so. buck is eddie's best friend, he's his son's friend, his buck. of course buck is going to be upset christopher, by way of ramon and helena, is making a whole new life for himself away from his own father, away from everything he's known for so long. so. eddie makes the decision to go to texas, makes the decision to make sure they know they don't get a re-do with another son, a better son they can mold and make up for how they messed up with eddie, because you know that's what this is all about.

so buck decides, no, i'm not letting eddie go alone because he's let people leave his life too often and look at how that's turned out. he's single and alone and if he has a chance to keep at least a few of his loved ones close, then he'll take it.

IDK how this could work logistically since they both work in the same damn place but by gosh golly, it could work with the themes of the show we have already seen...

of course of course of course this can be seen as buddie but it could also be seen as eddie and buck are best friends and partners and if buck was there to say goodbye to christopher, why wouldn't he be there to bring him back home???
