HELLO!!! Been following your blog since like I was in 6th grade? Just now made a tumblr account so HELLO YOUR CHROM GIVES ME HAPPIES!! 💙💙
Anyway question for Chrom and the muse, does Chrom ever get sick? Colds or anything? Headaches? Stomach issues? I know he hates rhubarb but I was wondering if he had a immune system/stomach of *steel* besides that. The nurse in me wants to know!
Okay thank you have a lovely day ^o^
*insert x files music*
Tumblr media
sINCE 6TH GRADE!?! UM! HOW OLD ARE YOU!?!?! NOW??????? LIKE..SINCE WHEN DID YOU SEE MY CHAOTIC DISPLAY OF WRITING ON THIS SILLY GOOFY BLOG THAT I TRY TO KEEP AS 'PROPER' RP BLOG AND FAMILY FRIEND????and like fails...because life truck san lol
ok um i'm glad my rambling here makes someone happy haha. lives to serve the crumbiest of the scrumbtious of mister fayre embrumbu, krumb. honestly, this is my crazy zone where i can rant about this silly man and have fun and feel happy when people like you say that they are happy to read my chaotic thoughts nyehehehe~
and a question!? heck yeah my favorite kind of support hoho~
you got that right! and i think i might have mentioned this before here or on discord about him wolfing down literally anything because you know there was a time when ylisse was not doing great after le papa did that 'let's go to za war~' ylisse lost most of its farmers and able hands so basically agriculture and economy took a dive in the plegian sea. so in short, they had to survive on what they already had or managed to acquire from Ferox (ofc not charity) and ofc that means c/hrom had to eat what was given to him. so for his stomach, it is almost a black hole unless you are talking about sully, kjelle, lucina and vaike's food--he is still pretty much human and will keel over because of their mystery food x LOL
as for getting sick hmmm not really but the downside of him not getting sick that often is that when he actually gets sick, it is severe. and it does not help that he tries to act cool and tough and obviously anti-sleeping-on-bed. you literally have to strap him to the bed or put frederick on watch lmao. i mentioned before that his physical health is top notch but when it comes to mental health is questionable teehe~ you need naga's mercy and the power of tough love to shake dem demons out of him lololol.
i hope the nurse in you is satisfied with this answer ~ if you got any thoughts share them! it would be interesting to know more practical and medical side of things since i know zero about them hoho. thanks uncle gloglgoglo for answering some questions i have at times lol
Tumblr media
thanks lovely! your ask made me so happy, too! honestly i had to stare at it for a couple of hours and wait for the 'syke' but turns out a nice message ;u; <3

@silque Hope you don't mind me pulling this into it's own post; it's a critical enough point that I really wanna expand on it.
For context for those who didn't read my recent longass post about Frederick in general: We're talking about the canonical age at which Emmeryn was crowned Exalt of Ylisse.
According to the numbers from Awakening Chapter 6, when Emm took the throne she was
NINE YEARS OLD
Tumblr media
Maaaaaybe 10, at the most, if you stretch the meaning of "before her tenth year" a bit and play around with the exact date her dad died.
(To be clear, Frederick's age in that table is a headcanon, not canonical in any way)
Tumblr media
You are making several excellent points and I'm Big Emotional about all of them, so naturally, I'm going to take four miles of post length to screech about this in more detail.
It is fucking wild to me that the game breezes by the war timeline and the ages of the royal kids so fast. To the point where I straight up missed it! Or forgot, I guess, in the years since my last full playthrough.
I just. I have to set the scene.
Ylisse has just been through an unfathomably bloody holy war. Almost anyone of fighting age was given a weapon and dragged to the desert to fight, leaving behind a halidom populated almost exclusively by children and the elderly, with a dwindling food supply. A country driven into desperation and chaos by its own ruler.
We don't know how the Exalt dies--if his own men turned mutiny or he was routed by Plegian forces or what--but the Exalt does die, and the war dies with him. When the news from the front finally trickles back to Ylisstol alongside what few broken men and women survived the violence, the oldest person of exalted blood is duty-bound to take his former place on the throne.
Overnight, nine-year old Emmeryn goes from playing with her baby brother and awaiting the day her baby sister is born, to being crowned Exalt of a dying country and a shattered populace that now turns all their hurt and ire onto her.
She has her council of old, withered politicians to guide her hand. She has the castle guards--all either old enough to be her grandparents or young enough to be her peers--to protect her from the worst of the violence. She has her mother, too--until one day, too soon, she doesn't.
The game certainly doesn't gloss over the tragedy of that. It neglects to emphasize the ages these kids were dealing with all this at, though. I could tangent off into another 500-1000 words about how fucked that family situation is if I chose to and the unique ways that has played into the characterization of everybody involved. That Emmeryn grew up to be as competent and well-loved a ruler as she did is a monumental feat, not only on her part, but on the parts of the people who supported and raised her.
And to bring it back to the man of the hour on this blog… At some point, Frederick became one of those people. He's been looking after Chrom and Lissa for who even knows how long; there is no doubt in my mind that, like tumblr user silque suggested, Frederick also helped look after Emmeryn. Helped her and her siblings make whatever sense of the ongoing tragedies they could, while probably dealing with a mountain of issues of his own.
He's something at the nexus between older brother, father, bodyguard to all of them. He's been by their side, a constant rock, since all four of them were arguably children. Frederick doesn't let his guard down for a second. He sees the weight on the shoulders of these kids, and he knows helping them bear it is the best thing he can do to help the people starving in his village and every other like it, or to help avert this war, or end that war swiftly. He devotes himself to this duty so utterly that he's practically killing himself from stress and overwork. Always watching for the wolf in the shadows, that Emmeryn and Chrom and Lissa might be able to avoid the fangs and continue being the beacons the halidom needs them to be.
Even when they're at peace, the eyes at the edge of the firelight are all he can see. It confuses Chrom and Lissa; and that's how he knows he's doing his job correctly.
And this relationship between Frederick and the royal siblings.
Is reduced to jokes about pebble-clearing and overzealous recruitment posters a solid 80% of the time.
I JUST.
I want to clarify that these games being goofy and silly and over the top as often as they are is one of their draws, and that I do enjoy how just, cartoonishly cautious Frederick can be. I love the jokes. I am that guy who played the Before Awakening DLC in Fates literally 128 times to max out the pebble joke weapon. In no world do I think we need to wholly kill comedy here.
But at the same time I can't help but be blown away by how often the heart in this relationship is neglected in favour of comedy. The second you start thinking about how Frederick got where he is and why he is the way he is, there is just, SO much there.
It's of dubious canonicity at best, but I want you to read the conversations that Chrom and Frederick have with Emmeryn during her recruitment paralogue. I want you to notice how Chrom, though clearly emotional, is capable of putting his emotions aside, and opts to focus on keeping her safe rather than indulging in his grief, which he knows would only confuse her.
And then I want you to notice how Frederick, stoic, icy Frederick, breaks down. A paragraph of two years of repressed grief comes tumbling out all at once to a woman who, ultimately, is only a ghost of the person he knew. He begs her forgiveness. He cannot, cannot think clearly or objectively in this moment. He hurts too deeply. He cares too much.
The so-called Cold Lieutenant of the Shepherds cares so deeply and self-sacrificingly about everyone and it can be really damn funny, or utterly heart-melting, or utterly heart-breaking depending on the situation and how you play it. AND YET. THE SIDE CHARACTER CURSE. The most genuinely they ever play this bond is in a side chapter that isn't even canon.
How do I end this post.
I am inconsolable for SEVERAL REASONS.

EMMERYN ( INSERT MIDDLE NAME ) LOWELL, has arrived at Garreg Mach Monastery's Town !
Tumblr media
#EMBLEMARTYR ━━━ private roleplay blog for Emmeryn of Fire Emblem: Awakening ( FE13 ); interpreted & loved by Barely ( 8TEEN / any prns ); affiliated with The Officers Academy as a townsperson and organization founder.
Tumblr media
NOTES ON PORTRAYAL.
with Emmeryn being written after the canon events of Awakening, the likelihood of spoilers appearing in her posts is highly possible, as she specifically comes from her respective paralogue after a critical canon event which shapes her current interpretation. of course, I will tag all of the appropriate posts accordingly. the official tag for any spoilers will be #awakening spoilers to avoid them.
unlike my other two muses, Emmeryn lives in the town of the monastery as a kind, yet quiet neighbor to those who reside there. upon having her housing papers admitted without struggle, she decided to rent out an empty building and use the treasury she'd been given to fund an organization for royals and nobles of any age to get advice and assistance with their etiquette and handling civil affairs, which she remembers easily.
after the events of Awakening, and known to those who saved her in her paralogue, Emmeryn suffers from a multitude of injuries that have changed her as a person. there are physical conditions, like her limp, unconscious twitching / trembling, and rapid blinking. and there are non-physical conditions, like her amnesia, hindered speech, and periodic headaches. I will not allow any heavy IC or OOC jokes about any of these unless spoken of beforehand. the way I treat Emmeryn is very careful and I'd become uncomfortable if her conditions were made fun of. in a softer note, there are a few social norms she does not remember and will need to be reminded of in certain situations.
similar to the above bullet, Emmeryn does speak slowly, in half sentences, pronounces certain letters and words wrong, and pauses a lot to formulate her thoughts. this will not change for a long, long time, as in the years after her paralogue, she hasn't recovered much from the incident. if your muse will belittle or mock her for her verbal inconsistencies, tell me beforehand so I can consider whether they should interact or not. just long enough for me to become fully comfortable with her narrative voice as a muse.
unless your muse has known her before her arrival or is currently enrolled under her organization, then they do not know that Emmeryn was the former Exalt of Ylisse, as this is not something she shares for the hope of starting over completely with strangers outside of her profession. on the note of her organization, let me know if your muse would approach her for it! you have to be a noble for the political classes but anyone can take her etiquette courses.
additionally, a frequent NPC that you will hear mentioned or referenced in her interactions is Langston, who is the caretaker that was deployed to Regna Ferox to tend to her. he is important to her reasoning for being here but will not be able to speak with your muse unless the thread or interaction calls for it and we have discussed it prior. yes he is pretty and twenty-seven and shy and blonde-adjacent and I have a crush on him, next question

Where? ~oh~ where? Have those Henry fics gone?~ I needs my crowman
(I've got some Henry taking care of Robin and Morgan when they get sick! Huge thanks to @zankavogue , who compiled a huge archive of fics from the deactivated blog! I'll be reuploading as many as possible!!! U V U)
The family had taken a brief, albeit very fun and relaxing, trip in Plegia. Morgan being only eight months old certainly made things interesting. Having the whole family there to enjoy the beauty of Plegia outside war time was fun.
Plus, you were both Plegians, so it was nice to learn about your roots.
It was a magical time. Or at least, it would have been. You woke up the morning after you came home and found yourself unable to get out of bed.
You had a fever, your head was pounding, and you were a snotty mess of misery. Henry was amused until he heard baby Morgan bawling down the hall. You both caught, according to your husband, the Plegian swine flu.
No one was immune from it, not even sweet, innocent little blood bags like Morgan (Henry’s words, not yours).
So Henry quickly went from teasing you and being fascinated by how miserable you were to going into full-blown panic.
Like any disease, a baby catching it had a higher risk of complications. Most recover, Henry explained while frantically scribbling an urgent letter for Maribelle to tie to one of his crows, but itty bitty babies could suffer serious health problems.
Henry got to work on preparing you a bucket of cold water, a second bucket for the kerchiefs you would be blowing your nose into all day, and a third bucket in case you couldn’t keep your food down.
You didn’t.
“Gods, Henry- did you have to send that filthy animal to me? I’m literally down the block! It would take you fifteen minutes to-”
“Fifteen minutes is a waste of time! Morgan and Robin could be dead by then! And if it’s either of them, it’s no joke, nya ha!”
“Then why are you laughing?”
“It’s nervous laughter!” He chuckled again, though judging by how pale his face was, it seemed to be true.
Maribelle simply scoffed and hurried to the bedroom, ready to treat her friend.
“Robin, darling! Oh, you look positively ghastly!” She gasped, drawing the mask over her mouth and nose. She pulled on her medical gloves, a stave at her side and a big pouch of herbs on her belt. “The Plegian swine flu is no joke...it’s very rarely found in Ylisse, but when it travels with you…”
“I-it’s a disaster.” You wheezed, not before you were overcome by coughing. “Anything y-you can do will be a welcome remedy.”
“Luckily for you, there’s nothing here that herbs and plenty of rest won’t fix. Now Morgan might be a little trickier, given his age...but we can at least get started with you.”
Maribelle was quick to send  Henry off to grind up the herbs, preparing some disgusting concoction guaranteed to get your body back to normal.
Presuming Henry could put it together.
“Now, when did you start to feel ill?”
“W-well, if I’m honest… It started around-”
Crash
“Ah, gods- I broke the cup!!”
“-The time we got home, last night. It was late-”
Smash
“The pestle’s shattered!!”
“-And I just thought I was tired, but...my head feels about the same as-”
Bang
“The herbs are everywhere!!”
“HENRY!!” Maribelle shouted out the door, “What in the gods’ names are you doing?!”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to make a mess!” Henry apologized, his voice shaky and unsure. “I-I just meant to help a bit, but it looks like I’m making things worse, nya ha!”
“Why don’t you come and sit,” Maribelle pinched  her brow, “Just settle down until you stop breaking things.”
You watched as Henry wandered back into the bedroom, looking surprisingly pale and nervous. You had never quite seen him in such a way, before.
After all, it was always good times and weird vibes with your husband. Since when did he become the anxious type?
“I’ll be right back, Robin. I’ll get your medicine.”
“Give some to Morgan, first.” You asked, “I can wait.”
Maribelle nodded to you before taking off, leaving you alone with your husband who was bouncing his leg and fidgeting with his hands with a nervousness that you’d never seen before.
For a few moments, it was quiet, listening to the rhythmic, rapid tapping of his heel against the stone. Eventually, though, you would have to snap him out of it.
“Henry, a-are you all right?” You questioned as gently as you could. Henry started to nod, giving you a cracked, faux grin. Then he paused, his smile fell, and he shook his head.
“Well, if I’m honest? No. Not at all. I feel like I’m dying inside.” He admitted. “I mean, you’re sick, and so is Morgan! My two favorite living people! And there’s not a thing I can do about it- I mean, he’s just a baby, and we’ve only been back together for a year- I dunno. It scares me, y’know? Which is impressive! When’s the last time I’ve been genuinely scared, right! Nya ha ha!”
“There’s nothing to be scared of, Henry.” You tried to assure him. But he shook his head, folding his arms tightly.
“You don’t know that! All it takes is one thing to go wrong and it could be bye-bye wifey, or even bye-bye baby, and I...oh, I couldn’t handle that. Nope, not one bit.”
It was certainly a reasonable concern.
“Henry, sweetheart...come here.” You held your hand out to him, insisting he sit with you. You weren’t sure if it was the exhaustion or the pain that numbed your sense of worry, but you were far calmer than he was.
He took your hand, revealing trembling fingers. You squeezed it tightly, trying your best to comfort him despite your situation.
“Maribelle will take care of us. We’ll be okay, I’m sure.”
“But you can’t be sure!” He sighed shakily, “Anything can happen when it comes to Plegian flu. It can either be nothing at all, or really bad! And you never know until it happens. If something bad did happen to you or Morgan, I just...I don’t know what to do! You already told me I’m not allowed to re-animate either of you if you croak, so...I’m out of options!”
“I’m standing firm on that, just so you know.” You informed him with a soft smile, “But, Henry...there’s no value in worrying for worrying’s sake. W-we really shouldn’t be concerned with the unknown until it comes.”
“That’s easy for you to say, you’re not the one having to take care of both of you! What if I mess up?! What if I make it worse!! I already broke Maribelle’s mortar and pestle, there are herbs everywhere, a-and I just-”
“Henry,” You pressed a finger to his lips, “You’re overthinking.”
“B-but I just...I worry about you guys…”
“I know.” You beamed at him, stroking his cheek. “But please, try not to worry. We need to wait for Maribelle’s diagnosis, and we can go from there, okay? It’ll be easier if we take it a step at a time.”
“Gosh, Robin...how’re you able to stay so calm all the time?” He looked at you incredulously, “I’m about ready to pop out of my skin and just run around like a headless Risen!”
“Experience.” You laughed.
Maribelle came in not long after, informing you both that the flu didn’t appear to be as bad as it could be.
“Morgan should recover within the week, though we’ll need to make sure he receives two doses of medicine each day; one in the morning and one at night. Henry, you’ll have to make it for him each day- is that something you can handle? Or will I be making more visits this week?”
Henry shared a look with you, seeing your encouraging smile. He took a deep breath and nodded.
“I can handle it, I promise!”
“Good. Morgan’s going to be counting on you. Robin, you should need more rest than anything else, but I’m recommending you take one dose each evening; it will help you sleep better, and it’s strong enough that it should hold you the next day.”
“That’s fine by me.” You agreed; the less disgusting, bitter herbs you had to ingest, the better.
“Your recovery time will be a bit longer than Morgan’s, though, judging by how you’re doing… I’d say two weeks at minimum; a month-and-a-half at most. Now if you want, I can have Lissa or Libra come and help take care of you, so that Henry can focus on caring for Morgan. Or, we can simply send Morgan off with a wet nurse while you’re here.”
“N-no, I-!” Henry interrupted before you could reply, putting a hand to his chest. “I can handle it, Maribelle! After all, if I can’t take care of my family, what kind of man would I be? Just a sad bag of bones and sinew! Not good for anything but crow food.”
Maribelle glanced over at you, looking for some sort of response. You knew she was still wary of Henry, especially now that she was out a very lovely mortar and pestle. But you were confident in his abilities.
“He can take care of us.” You told her, “I trust him.”
“Well...if you insist.” She conceded, earning a whoop from your husband- and an apology for it shortly after when he realized you weren’t to be around loud noises with your headache. “I’ll be coming to check up on you twice a week until you’re all better- until then, Henry, we’re counting on you!”
“You got nothin’ to worry about, Maribelle! We just take it a day at a time, and it’ll be great, nya ha!”
“Robin, if anything changes, or you need help...please don’t hesitate to call me or the other healers immediately.”
“I will.”
“I do mean anything, dear.”
“...I will.”
“If Henry does one thing wrong-”
“Hey!”
“I got it, Maribelle.” You chuckled, waving her away. “Thanks for your concern. We’ll be sure to call for you if we need anything. But I’m positive Henry will take care of us just fine.”
“You can bet your organs on it!” He grinned, giggling happily with his wife’s support. Maribelle gave him a long, hard look, but eventually took her leave.
Henry was quick to move Morgan’s crib into the bedroom, guaranteeing that he could keep track of both of you and ensure you were both recovering nicely at the same time.
While it was heartbreaking listening to Morgan’s discomfort and those tiny baby coughs, it helped to see him improve day after day.
You did end up recovering about a week after Morgan, all thanks to Henry. He made sure to give you only the best. Most of all you were just thankful that none of you could get the Plegian swine flu ever again.
Especially since he bought Maribelle a replacement mortar and pestle that came from a questionable source, covered in animal bones and bird skulls and...you really didn’t know what corner of Hell he summoned them from.
At least there wouldn’t be another opportunity for him to break anything else of Maribelle’s, seeing as you wouldn’t be getting sick again.
You would take extra steps to ensure that just so he wouldn’t frighten Maribelle with another horrifying “gift”.

On Emm's dad, I feel he cared more about the First Exalt than Marth.
Ylisse in Awakening doesn't seem to know much about Marth the Hero King, having no idea on what exactly he did.
Supports and the Japanese version of Warriors also show that they don't know Anri at all!
Also both Anri and Marth fought Manaketes and Feral Dragons, whilst the First Exalt fought Grima and his followers, which is very reluctant to Emmeryn's father crusading against the Grimleal.
Huh, this really is a rather apropos of nothing message. I guess this is sort of referring to one of the takes that I sent to the FE takes blog?
Anyway, I think trying to come up with any sort of consistent and clear characterization for the father of Emmeryn, Chrom and Lissa or the First Exalt is a bit pointless. Unless I'm missing some major pieces of supplementary material, both of these characters only really get mentioned in passing at best, and aren't really focussed on at all within the context of Awakening.
Which of course makes them ripe for exploring in fanon!

recent fire emblem fics dump <3
hiiii i realised i can use my blog for whatever i want and i've been writing a lot since last summer. like, a lot a lot. so i decided to share some of the stuff i've written recently here for personal ref and in case anyone is interested <3 (using 'recently' VERY loosely)
"well enough alone" lucina & morgan (as siblings), a drabble exploring their relationship. i regret never really sitting down and writing a chrobin during the peak of chrobin but here is my kinda painful take on some post canon things.
"older and wiser" azelle/tailtiu. i had so much fun with this one. a lot of my twitter friends have been talking about azeltiu lately so i wrote a little about how their relationship came about with an emphasis on their naivety and innocence kinda fading with the war but finding some sanctuary in each other.
"to live a legend" owain and severa and inigo. a wip i started in 2017 and only just updated THIS YEAR. it's still unfinished and my writing is very old but the idea is that the events of fates are a myth in ylisse, and that's the backdrop to a story about the awakening trio feeling discontent with their lives postwar.
"letters from afar" celica, alm, and marth. this was a nagamas gift for a prompt asking for something about a relationship between the three! they exchange letters on a whim which isn't how diplomacy works but it's about them healing and finding people who understand them in an unexpected place.
"absent friends" dimitri and the ghost of glenn in between the timeskip. this is the only 3h thing i've written, wow.
"a rose painted red" quick nyna character study that explores why she wanted to leave archanea.
"conviction" ares/seliph aka one of my fav kinda-rare pairs ever. ares decides he wants to desert the army because he's not sure about his choice to join seliph but really because he's grappling with difficult feelings about seliph himself.
"where they belong" neimi/colm through the eyes of eirika, and exploring how strength comes in different forms.
"things inherited, things buried" midia, jeorge, and astram aka the culmination of me spending years fixating on the midia and jeorge engagement backstory!

"they've continued to [worship Grima] for a thousand years despite repeatedly being persecuted for the rest of the world explicitly for worshipping Grima".
My point here is that most people would stop worshipping a god if it repeatedly caused their neighbors to try to kill them. Nowhere does it say that they deserved to be caused, only that the religion is widely hated by the rest of the world. You are directly putting words in my mouth.
Even if I did, which I didn't, a personal opinion is a personal opinion and not a reason to insult someone about a discussion you weren't in.
And as I've said, its hardly just Emmeryn's father that tried to kill them, Walhart explicitly makes it clear his plans were to obtain the Fire Emblem and unite the world to invade Plegia and destroy Grima worship. Walhart even blames one of his tacticians being Grimleal for his attempt at religious genocide not working out and causing collateral damage.
Similarly Frederick describes the Grimleal as fanatics that worship a "fiend".
Clearly Grima worship is very controversial in both Ylisse and Valm, with worshippers of the god of of annihilation being looked down, if not outright killed. So if anything I'd say Grima's worshippers are very steadfast and loyal, loyalty one would crave in a worshipper.
Lots to unpack here, so let's start with the simpler bits.
Firstly… replying to a public post is not butting into a private discussion.
If you don't want people replying to you there are several options available to you to prevent this, including but not limited to: posting on your own blog and disabling reblogs, and/or blocking me or anyone else you don't care to talk with.
Secondly…
Grima's Characterization
"[...] if anything I'd say Grima's worshippers are very steadfast and loyal, loyalty one would crave in a worshipper."
Oh sure, the grimleal are loyal to the idea of Grima.
But again; when Grima stops acting how they believe he should act (see: everything he does as Robin), their loyalty turns into them physically forcing him to act as they see fit. Validar. Aversa. All the unnamed grimleal who fight the shepherds. It's a relationship of controlling and being controlled, not of actual respect. Which is, perhaps, part of the source of their general frustration with humanity as a whole.
I'm not saying their reasoning is correct or their reaction measured! But there's logic to it, and I think their Heroes dialogue is fairly consistent with their characterization from Awakening.
Wanna know something wild? We don't actually have any hard evidence that Grima even tried to destroy the world the first time Naga's faithful killed him. We only have the word of Frederick (early Chapter 2) on that that, and he's a human raised in Ylisse, a country that was founded on opposition to Grima, repeating an Ylissean account of history. He's not a reliable source.
We have no clue who was the aggressor back then, what their reasons were, what their goals were, the scale of the conflict... We literally don't know!
A lot can change about a culture over a thousand years, and the only version of Grima we get to talk to is one that's been reborn in the modern era when the extremist grimleal already exist and he has fully fucking snapped.
---
And now for the… big, messy part. This is going to cover some fairly serious plot points and will briefly mention some fraught real-world events, so I'm putting it under the cut.
"My point here is that most people would stop worshipping a god if it repeatedly caused their neighbors to try to kill them."
No, anon, they absolutely would not.
There is no gentle way to say this: In trying to explain why you think Grima worship is folly, the argument you are making is that the most logical choice for victims of repeated genocide attempts is to stop having the culture that people want to genocide them over.
I am not putting words in your mouth. These are words that you are typing out, and the meaning that they have. If this isn't what you're intending to say then you're doing a poor job of phrasing your argument.
Judaism. All of the many Native American cultures. Probably many cultures that the British Empire colonized. Historically, trying to wipe a people out over their culture and religion has not been a compelling argument to make the survivors stop having that culture and religion.
(Do not mistake this as a 1-1 comparison of any of these mentioned cultures to the grimleal. I'm not calling any of these cultures evil or extremist. I am only bringing them up to illustrate a specific and very narrow point re: attempted cultural destruction.)
Are the grimleal extremists? Absolutely. Is their work to bring about the actual apocalypse horrific and worth being stopped? Fucking obviously. Is Grima a terrible person? The one we meet in the game certainly is.
But please consider that even though Emmeryn's father's crusade ostensibly targeted the extremist cult, it was explicitly condemned by the game's text for the undue pain and suffering it caused to both Ylisse and Plegia.
I reiterate: not all of Plegia is grimleal. They don't all follow the grimleal or subscribe to grimleal beliefs. We have dialogue from Plegian citizens and soldiers expressing distaste and fear of the grimleal. The majority of Plegians who are victims of the religious genocides other world powers keep launching at them are not grimleal members and probably have a culture that they would like to continue having. That culture may or may not include some form of Grima worship.
I understand that you're trying to argue that Grima is despicable. We've never disagreed on that point; our disagreement there lies only in his motivations and the reasons he is who he is.
However. There's a lot about Plegia, Grima, Ylisse, and Valm - both explicitly stated things and strongly implied things within the game's text - that you are ignoring in your pursuit of being strongly anti-Grima. And the result is that you are (accidentally, I hope) saying some kind of fucked up things.
Dislike Grima all you want. I'm happy to agree to disagree on the liking Grima thing. But this game lays out a fairly complex political and cultural landscape for us, with a long history that we ultimately only get small glimpses into, and nothing about it is as cut and dry as you're making it out to be.
