#15: Yhorm the Giant (Dark Souls 3)

Let's kick off the top 15 with a very, very controversial pick. This fight has gotten a lot of hate over the years, and I do understand where some of it is coming from; wanting a traditional one on one boss fight is a somewhat logical complaint, even if it's lacking in context. That said, I personally think it's the best spectacle fight in the entire trilogy. Is it easy? Sure. But difficulty isn't necessarily the point here. The secret mechanic, the arena, the music, and the emotions of the fight give Yhorm a sense of scale befitting his giant status. And if you bring Siegward? Oh baby, you better believe there's going to be tears required ahead.This fight is one of the most memorable moments in the trilogy, and I think that's more important than a pure focus on difficulty. Dark Souls 3 is a deeply emotional game, and God knows it's got more than enough difficulty to let those emotions take center stage sometimes. And come on: we all know the Storm Ruler is cool as hell. We all know.

did dark souls 3 in archipelago (other games were pkmn red, superstar saga, yoshi's island, subnautica, terraria)

highlights:

-Waiting for terraria player to find a mount before I could get off the high wall

-auto equip and equip lock on (it'd be kind of boring otherwise. people could give me like a great cleaver or something early and I'd never need to swap)

-ended up fighting things with 2h shield a lot. Vordt got pursuer shield bonked

-greatwood poked to death with a prong

-Crystal sage spun down with sellswords

-had to back farm a longsword to backstab abyss watchers with

-wolnir got great lance'd

-deacons beat to a pulp with a pickaxe

-old demon king bonked with smough's

-backfarmed a halberd and parried pontiff 6 times for the kill

Ended there and released my items. Major issue with auto equip and lock is the excess of casting gear and bows, +upgrade materials. I was likely going to go into most of the rest of the lord souls with a +3 weapon at best because of lack of materials. And without auto equip and lock, it's again kind of boring.

If progression tracker could keep tabs on bosses and improve your gear found as you went deeper that'd be good I think.
