What is an academic subject they excel at? Which one do they avoid at all costs? Are they open about this or not?
Unlike my dyscalculic ass, Yesui would excel at maths! She's a shopkeep, and runs her Reunion stall alone, with no help. She needs to keep track of incoming, outgoing and what the other Mol ask her to sell. If she couldn't do Maths, she'd be functionally useless!
As for avoidance, she tries not to do anything too physically taxing. She has a prosthetic leg that has an unfortunate habit of falling off if she's not careful about how she carries her weight (that's actually how she ended up meeting her girlfriend! She shifted her weight wrong while getting on a horse and... Pop went the leg onto the floor. While she's still on the horse!)
She's quite open about both of these things, finding no shame in her weaknesses as she's long since found how she's most useful to her clan and rather enjoys running her stall and talking with people!

021.1 Arik
Born to the Dotharl, but having the soul of a Noykin welcomed into the tribe, Arik has often questioned himself and where he belonged. After all, it never felt as if he belonged among the Dotharl themselves. With his mother's blessing, he travels to the Noykin Iloh, where he hopes to find out more about his past life.
Word Count: 3,006
Steppe by Steppe Chapter List
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Today’s the day, mother. I’ll be traveling from the Dotharl Khaa to meet with the Noykin,” said a teen boy. He had a traveling pack slung over his shoulder, and a small smile on his face as he addressed the now smaller woman before him. They both donned a deep blue color to their garments -- the color of Dotharl.
“‘Tis only right, my son. There are only so many stories I could tell you about the Arik that came before, and little more you could learn from the others around…” the woman replied.
There was a sad smile on his mother’s face. Arik knew it all too well; it was the look she wore when she could not well tell him stories befitting the Arik of Noykin to help nurture him into the Arik he was meant to be. He could barely fault her for the lack of stories that she had. Had his father not passed away only a couple summers after Arik’s birth, he was sure that there would have been more stories that could have been shared.
Before Arik could leave the ger, his mother walked forward and straightened out his deel, smoothing out wrinkles and looking him over. A sigh left her nose, and she hesitated before looking back up at him and reaffirming a smile upon her face. Reaching up, she gently took his cheek in her hand, having to tiptoe to do so.
“To think that only a few summers ago, you barely came up to my shoulders…” Arik’s mother said, her tone laced with sentimentality before she went flat on her feet and withdrew her hand. “Travel the lands in safety, my son. Even if we may not fear death because we are yet born again, I would wish you to make it to the Noykin Iloh without hazard. And should you meet your current iteration’s end, know that I shall be ever ready to meet you again.”
The corner of Arik’s mouth twitched upward somewhat. His mother had always shown a level of kindness toward him when others of the Dotharl had not. It was surprising given what he had been told of his mother and her past lives. How fearless of a warrior she was that met her enemies head on, spear in hand. To think that she was such a considerate and gentle mother to him…well, it had always been appreciated.
“Don’t worry too much, mother…” Arik adjusted his pack, letting it rest on his shoulder before he walked over and plucked his spear from where it leaned against the wall of the ger. Motioning slightly to it, he continued: “I have father with me, after all.”
Arik’s father had been an unfortunate soul that had not returned to the Dotharl. With frequent combat that saw their tribe numbers dwindling, his father’s soul had no vessel to return to the year that he died. It was a loss that they had to grieve in their own way before continuing life and moving ever onward.
“Of course… I shall see you whenever the sun rises.”
“Whenever the sun rises, then.”
It had been a term of endearment. ‘When the sun rises.’ To say as such meant that the world was dark until they were to see each other once again. Arik kept the meaning in his heart.
“Oh!” Arik’s mother remembered something, and it halted him from exiting the ger. She approached him again, pulling out a leather cord from a pouch at her hip, a copper shard affixed to it. The shard had been dulled and slightly oxidized in time, tint in some patches upon it that bore a slight green tint to them. “You asked me to make it into a necklace. Did you want to wear it on your journey?”
Looking down at the pendant, Arik nodded and leaned down. His mother walked forward and carefully slipped the cord around him. Once the pendant hung around his neck, Arik stood back up, glancing down for a moment before looking back at his mother.
“Thank you, mother…” Arik looked down, seeing the copper piece hanging there before taking it and slipping it underneath his clothing. “I’ll keep it safe.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The journey to the Noykin Iloh had taken nearly a moon to learn where they were and actually make it to them. His arrival was met with some trepidation from the other members of the tribe, and understandably so. However, Arik had done his best to explain to them that he was not there to incite violence and express that he wanted to learn the ways of the Noykin.
It was only the fact that Arik had come to the iloh alone that allowed the other Noykin to breathe more easily around him. However, many of them were still reluctant to approach him as he ventured through their current home. Even as he attempted friendly conversation, there were those that had shied or recoiled from him, much to his disappointment.
“If you’re truly here to learn, I suppose I can help you…” eventually said a woman who approached him without that same hesitance or trepidation. Her hair reminded Arik of the color of butter, and her eyes, he noticed, were black and gold. She must have been no older than Arik himself.
“Nhaama blesses me, then. My thanks,” Arik replied, breathing that sigh of relief that had nestled within his chest.
“I would advise against thanking me yet,” the woman said. “Our ways are not so easily obtained. If you have a mind to learn, then you must have a mind to endure.”
She looked over Arik, scrutinizing him momentarily.
“Being of Dotharl, I expect that the latter should be no obstacle?”
Arik’s mouth pursed into a line. He looked out toward the corrals that were abundant around the Noykin Iloh before looking back at the woman. Slowly, he nodded and gave her his response: “the Dotharl and their ways certainly make tests of endurance less of a daunting task. Whatever you might have for me to do, I shall do my best to meet it head on.”
“Very well. My name is Mide,” the woman introduced herself with a slight bow. “I know not of the journey you had to get here, so I shall not make you work right away. Come. We shall make for my ger. I imagine we can discuss your goal there.”
“A-Arik…” Arik quickly said to introduce himself, as Mide had already turned heel to start her stride toward the aforementioned ger. He adjusted his pack and fell into step behind her after jogging to catch up. He cast his gaze about the rest of the iloh while he followed after her, taking in the sights and sounds. Horses whinnying in the background, the sounds of hoofbeats and whistles, the occasional snort…the way the Noykin lived must have been on par with the Goro from what he knew.
The smell, too…the air was thick with the fresh smells of cut grass, and even the dry scents of hay and alfalfa. They mixed in tandem with the repugnance of manure; something he would have to grow to tolerate for the time being if he were to learn anything from them. At least it had not been too terrible, all things considered.
They approached a ger that had been on the far side of the iloh from where Arik had arrived. There were two others there that waved at Mide, though had reason to pause when they saw that Arik was with her. Though Mide had halfheartedly waved in response, she glanced over at Arik before opening the door to the ger and allowing him to enter -- though not before she motioned for his spear to be put aside.
Obliging to this, Arik removed his spear from his person, allowing it to rest against some nearby fencing. Soon, he stepped over the threshold into the ger and mustered up a “hold the dogs…” request. A customary thing even if there were no dogs around. Looking for a seat, Arik had sat down where one was available, and waited patiently.
Mide soon entered and closed the door behind her, walking past Arik and preparing something to drink. All the while, she asked, “I trust that you are here because the Dotharl believe one of our own is reincarnated into you.”
“Mm…” Arik gave a slight nod, though quickly gave a verbal response since Mide’s back was turned to him. “That would be the way of it, yes. Sadu khan, he…before we have the Sadu khatun we have today, I was proclaimed a babe that had an unknown soul. As I grew up, my father before he was felled in combat spoke of his friend. A member of the Noykin named, well, Arik. How he had given his life to save my father’s at the time.”
“So you believe that coming here would reveal something? Give you insight as to who you are?” Mide pressed, bringing back a cup of fresh mare’s milk for him to drink.
Accepting it with zero hesitation whilst nodding in response, Arik had taken a sip out of respect at first. He had not realized how thirsty he had been till he had been drinking it down greedily. Holding the cup in his lap, he tapped a finger against it in thought. Sighing, he finally replied, “I suppose that would be accurate, yes. I don’t imagine there would be anyone around that could share the Arik of Noykin’s stories with me, are there?”
Mide brought a hand to her chin, cupping it in thought.
“I couldn’t say… If you are here to learn our ways, I can teach you that. If you want to meet someone that may have known your…previous life…” Mide paused. It was common enough when speaking with those that were outside of the Dotharl’s customs and beliefs that Arik merely only noticed, though neglected to comment. “It may behoove you to speak with the elders. My mother or father might be able to answer any inquiries that you have if they’ve ever known Arik.”
"Anything would be great!" Arik said, not realizing how eager he sounded.
“Right…” Mide drew her hands together and closed her eyes. “My parents are away in Reunion for some time, unfortunately. But…I could direct you toward our khatun, Yesui. She has led the Noykin for well over forty summers, and has guided us well in that time. If anyone would have known about your past life, it would be her.”
“I would very much like to meet her… I-If that is alright…”
“I shall see if I can request an audience with her. In the meantime, we shall see if you can make yourself useful here.” Mide got up from her seat and went to a woven basket to withdraw some rope. Making her way back toward Arik she handed it off to him. “First things first… I have horses to quarantine so that they can be fed medicinal feed. During this time, we shall also brush them down to get more used to being around us and handled.”
Taking up the rope, Arik slowly stood and nodded to show that he acknowledged what she had to say.
“Err…very well. The Dotharl don’t really have much in the way of caring for horses…” Arik mentioned. “So I am grateful for you going out of your way to hear me out and teach me. And I do apologize for anything I might accidentally mess up.”
“You will be granted my patience. To an extent.”
“Noted. I will do my best.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nearly a week had passed, and Arik had done everything that he could to adhere to Mide’s instruction. He fed horses, led them to new corrals, cleaned and filled their troughs with fresh water, he even began to learn riding them and the basics of. What the best part of all of it was, was the fact that it all just felt so natural. Like he had made a routine of all of these things and more even before he had actually gotten a chance to first do them.
In the time he had been familiarizing himself with the Noykin and their customs, he had learned a myriad of things about them. How they migrated, how they came across their horses, where they migrated in order to harvest the best feed, and much more. It had all been fascinating enough to keep his attention.
And then finally, Arik was granted his audience with Yesui khatun.
Accepting the invitation into the ger where Yesui resided, Arik had done his best to be as respectful as he could manage. He had prepared a gift in the interim -- a wood carving that he had worked on whittling away between tasks seen to with Mide. As he approached her with a bow, he offered to her the carving of a horse.
“Such craftsmanship! You have my thanks for this gift,” Yesui said, a smile spreading on her face. Her eyes crinkled with genuine warmth as she beheld the gift and got up to set it upon a dresser within the abode. She then took a seat once more and looked over Arik.
“Now…” Yesui straightened her posture and then relaxed into the back of her seat. “I have heard that you have questions regarding one of our own that passed some time ago. Come closer, child.”
Arik hesitated momentarily, but eventually approached Yesui once she motioned for him to come to her.
“Closer.”
Leaning in, Arik found himself feeling nervous, though allowed for the khatun to look deeply into his eyes. He saw her searching him for something -- anything. Almost as if…
“Bah…” Yesui breathed, waving Arik away. He backed off, hiding his relief before the khatun continued. “I know not how the Dotharl are able to see the souls of those who have come back. But…if you say that you are the incarnation of the Arik from ten and seven summers ago, I have only some stories that may be of worth to your journey.”
Perking up with an uncontrollable smile, Arik’s tail reflected his elation at this news as it curled up slightly. Tempering himself, he took a breath and huffed silently before collecting himself.
“Any stories you have to share would be beyond wonderful and appreciated, Yesui khatun,” Arik replied, offering her a small bow of gratitude. “My mother was never able to tell me much, and my father passed before he could regale me with too many tales. All I know of the Arik of Noykin was his impressive ability to break a horse within the span of three days and his friendship forged with my father. Beyond that…nothing.”
Nodding and humming in thought, Yesui closed her eyes and grew pensive. Drawing her hands together, she laced her fingers and rested them in her lap.
“He had taught the children of the Noykin happily in our ways to prepare them to tame horses that we might have our own and have them to trade,” Yesui started. She opened her eyes, smiling with a distant look in her eye as she recalled what she could. “Though it was rather often he would venture out on his own -- a lust to see more, he would claim.”
Arik subconsciously leaned in, wanting to drink more of the information that was being given to him. He could feel some sort of connection with those words. There were times he had ventured away from the Dotharl Khaa, if only because he wanted time away from the others…but discovering new things had always been something that made him feel…fulfilled in a way.
“While it is true his claim to have broken horses within mere days, he had always been gentle with them. A rare kind of ‘Whisperer’ is what others would often call him. Among our tribe, a Whisperer of such would only show up once every few generations,” Yesui went on. She had a knowing smile on her face. Perhaps she spoke from experience? What even was the requirement for becoming khan or khatun among the Noykin?
“I…did feel a kind of sense of tranquility when getting to handle and take care of the horses. I thought perhaps it was because Mide had done such a good job at showing me what to do, not to mention showed me kindness that it felt like others would not…” Arik admitted, thinking about some of the shying away that the other Noykin did when he first arrived. “Would…I be able to live up to that, I wonder?”
“Only one way to find out, child.”
“I suppose that is true…” Arik folded his arms over his chest, thinking. “Is there…a kind of trial I could take?”
Yesui laughed lightly. “I’m glad you are thinking ahead, child. I was going to task you with something of the sort. It would be best for Mide to go with you, but I shall be sending two others with you for this. You see, there is this beautiful horse that has been roaming the Ceol Aen as of late -- coat white with dapples of orange. Wild Sun is what we have come to call him with his unruly nature. If you can catch and tame him, he will not only be yours, but you will have earned your place among the Noykin.”
Those last words struck Arik deeply -- more than he realized they would. Looking at Yesui with a sense of curious wonderment, he pursed his lips and nodded before finding a smile spread on his face. Breathing in deeply, he reaffirmed his stance and replied, “then I shall go out and see to this trial you would give me. I…I thank you for what you have been able to share with me -- a-and I would be elated to hear more if you have more to share!”
Yesui chuckled, tilting her head in Arik’s direction.
“See to the trial, child. Should you succeed in the task before you, I will tell you more.”

thinking about Yesui's refusal to ever acknowledge, even internally, the feelings she has for That Man being anything more than just like "he's a threat and needs to be stopped so of course I feel intensely about him" except for one singular moment, as they're both laying there actively dying at edge of reality where she reaches for him. Unsure whether she's able to actually hold his hand or falls just short

ffxiv WOL lore dump ahead
I'm headcanoning Yesui as having turned heel in the level 70ish BLU quest line since she's "gotten arrogant with power" in kayfabe. The real reason she's turned heel is because it helps her escape out of the expectations and burdens of being the WOL in a lighthearted way, similar to how DRK helps her shed these expectations in a more serious manner.
plus I mean she looks hot af

White Scar: Nogai Sengik Darling: Хонгор which means honey in Mongolian
tw: yandere, corruption kink?
TAG LIST: @bispecsual @egrets-not-regrets @moodymisty @bleedingichorhearts @liar-anubiass-blog @thevoidscreams-a-back
You were going to get married soon... to be the 5th wife of the first son of a neighboring tribe. Your parents were getting a number of goats for this agreement. Your friend, Yesui, sat next to you as the two of you were weaving in the field just looking out at the distance... you would lose this view... you would loose Yesui... you would lose seeing Lord Nogai maneuver as fast as he could around the rocks on the path from the impossibly distant fortress of the White Scars.
But this is your fate as the 7th daughter of your father but from his 3rd wife... to not marry for love but for duty. You were going to miss it all... as you lean against Yesui letting your hands stall as the words told you so many times... 'you shall do this for the good of the family'... 'you can easily learn to love your husband'... 'it hardly matters as long as he keeps you alive...'
You could feel Yesui hug you tightly... she was lucky... she got to be the first wife to one of the boys that she truly fancied... you? Well you were assured he wasn't going to beat you but it seemed that after his 2nd wife... his 3rd and 4th wife he had trouble to remember their names and that made your heart ache. "You'll be okay." She says petting your head as you just numbly nodded... "Oh look! It's Lord Nogai oh his speeder bike." She says trying her best to get you to perk up as you watch him race faster than the wind down the dangerous winding path in the distance.
You remember when he learned that you and Yesui tended to sit here and were able to watch him you could tell it always made him swell with pride. Your tribe was less nomadic and in a central spot that allowed the white scars to visit a few times a month when they knew a new tribe would be passing by and be able to recruit. It meant that Lord Nogai could show off his skills and then drive up to you and Yesui and talk perhaps occasionally share a quick meal before you tell him which families are here.
"You can be brave..." Yesui whispers knowing you were tempted to not even tell Lord Nogai of what was going to happen... but Yesui swore that there was a fondness he held for you in his eyes and besides... everyone else knew what was going on why not someone who would eventually come and possibly collect your sons?
The bike came to a stop just at the top of the hill they were on and the two of them went to go greet Lord Nogai as he took off his helmet and his dark brown nearly black eyes looked at the two of them as his black hair was tied back and now only being tussled by the wind. "And my two favorite girls!" He says with mirth and laugh as this was something you'd miss... no matter the occasion... he would be happy... he could make you laugh and make you savor life as easily as he rushes into battles with a smile on his lips and joy in his heart.
"So who is visiting the clan today." He says as you two tell him who is there and you can see the quirk in his eyebrow when you mention on how the Yeke are here.
"They normally don't visit around this time of year what's the occasion?" He says cocking his as Yesui elbows you and this causes Nogai to focus on you with a smile still on his face.
"I'm getting married to Sukh." You finally say feeling the pressure leave your chest like a hawk with a kill in its talons.
Nogai makes a half sucking in air half click of his tongue against his teeth sort of noise as his brown nearly black eyes look away as if processing that information. "So when will you be in your new husband's home?" He asks in an oddly worded way but you dismiss it as just him being above such things.
"Next year once the lambs are fat and weaned from their mothers." You say unenthused... you can't help but think how you'll miss Nogai as he comes around so often but you've been spoiled for attention... spoiled for his friendship.
He nods before putting his helmet back on, "Well we have many more times we can still converse and share some curds to eat." He says with his chipper voice. The two of them back away from the massive bike as he drives off with a simple goodbye and you sigh as you lean against Yesui.
"See that wasn't so hard." Yesui says as you .
"Yeah... you're right." But oh how wrong you were. Homecoming was a nightmare as you placed the baskets down and look at the family as one of your sisters comes by and slaps you screaming at you. Suddenly so many people were screaming at you as you were being talked to, talked down too... praised by your one grandmother as she kissed your cheeks holding your face just crooning happily. Your heart was hammering as you were brought home as you looked at your father and his wives.
"Sit." Was all he said and banished everyone else however grandmother took her spot in the yurt with a smile on her face as she looks around before gesturing to your father to start. He inhales looking at you sternly, "What did you do."
You look at your father confused, "I have been out in the fields-"
"Did you spread your legs for him too? Was Sukh not good enough?" One of the wives said.
"What?"
"Be quiet." Your father snaps to her before looking at you again. "Nogai. He came to the village as it sounds like you know. What did he say to you?"
You wonder what Nogai said... normally everyone was thrilled by his visits; though you saw him pass by and did not see a boy with him so no one was suitable enough to be taken for the space marines which would be cause for celebration. "He asked the normal affairs... I mentioned that I was getting married to Sukh of the Yeke..."
Your grandmother lets out her whistling laugh. As you watch your father sigh and everyone seems to shift in rolling emotions, "While I was talking with the Yeke... Nogai came and made his usual pleasantries..."
"He asked for your hand in marriage in front of the Yeke." Your grandmother interrupts laughing and you look at her shocked.
"He did what?" You manage to say.
"Don't play dumb! What did you do?! Why have you brought this upon us? You were suppose to get married and-" the second wife begins.
"Be quiet!" Your father snaps again and you just grip your dress looking confused. "Have you been seducing him behind our backs?" He says sternly.
"No!" You say quickly as you hardly have flirted with the warrior. Perhaps in passing... failed attempts from you before you were told whom you were to marry. The most scandalous thing you can think of is sitting in his lap as he let you ride on his bike with him and perhaps sharing some food with him letting him feed you some rich food as you shared your simple curds and other hand made meals for him. "Nothing I have done... I.. no I have been a good daughter." You say desperate to defend yourself. Your eyes glance to your mother but she refuses to make eye contact with you most likely cowing to the wrath of the second wife... you cannot read the indifference that exudes from the head wife... you can feel the mirth from your paternal grandmother. No one is happy with you... "Father-"
"Out. I need to think." He demands and like a good daughter... you obey. You stay away from your sisters who hold their wrathful mother's opinion... a whore. Is what you hear whispered... how dare you seduce an Astartis? When you knew your place. You feel the desire to cry but you decide to hold it all in until the next day during chores to cry... everyone else is called for meal... it is a brother that tells you that father still is upset and deciding your fate.
The wind is cold... as you sit outside just waiting as you soon hear that whistling laugh as a small portable pot is placed next to you. "Yesui would appreciate the extra food... given her moon blood is about to end..." She says with a small knowing smile.
"What did I do? What happened?"
She starts to laugh again petting your head, "Your father and the patriarch of the Yeke were finalizing your marriage to Sukh when Nogai entered. Jovial as always but like a trickster he hid his intentions close to his chest. He sat with them... ate and drank with them... showed your father one of his trophies from a great distant conflict... its a wonderful knife. Refused to take it back and when your father asked why. Nogai said it was his offering for your marriage. Everyone was stunned... and it only all fell apart after Nogai left. Personally dear I am happy for you my great aunt got married to a white scar. His second wife is angry at you..." She waves her hand, "Upset that not one of her daughters could catch his eyes but it was you."
"But I didn't do anything?" You say feeling the tears threaten the corners of your eyes.
"Why do you feel like you have to have done something? That's why my great aunt was chosen as I was told... they simply pick a person they like. Go eat with Yesui." She said petting your head one last time before you go over to her yurt and lucky for her she and her husband are willing to house you for the night.
The next month is miserable as your family sways between praise and condemnation... how she feels like more of an outcast and she practically flees to the field when she hears the Yeke are coming back around. Father seeing if he can't marry off another daughter... its all but guaranteed that Nogai will marry you but you feel so mad.
You avoid him when he comes in to the village but there is no avoiding him when he leaves as he parks his bike and comes to you. "Will you share a meal with me, Хонгор?"
You slap his chest ignoring the pain in your hand as hot tears roll down your cheek a months worth of anger. "Why are you so foolish!" You shout at the space marine as he sits down unfolding the bundle. He lights the small portable fire and sets a pot down on it reheating the meal as he is clearly listening to you but setting up his meal. "Why! Why have you done this!" He pours himself some fermented milk as he motions for you to sit, "NO! I will not! You have caused my family to be in an uproar over your actions! My father's 2nd wife is seething at me... my own mother will not defend me... the Yeke are threatening my family for making them look foolish!" Your tears roll down your cheeks as you're so mad at Nogai. "WHY!"
He sets down his mug, "I did not think my request would upset you. Perhaps I should have..." He mused his words... his eyes looking to the sky before softening, "I should have told you my intentions. And for that I apologize." You squirmed under his apology as this wasn't what you were expecting.
You wipe your overflowing eyes as you sob at the concern on his face... everyone who did support you had to do so softly and then you feel him wrap you up in a hug as you hug him back. "Why did you ruin everything?"
"Ruin?"
"This is what I was told I would do... told I would be! I was a good daughter and now my siblings are calling me names... I was slapped the day I came home! I was a good daughter!"
"You never stopped being good, Хонгор..." You feel the ghost of his lips against the side of your head. "My dear Хонгор... it will be alright."
"What wife will I be?" You say sniffling.
"Out of all of the wives I have had or currently." He says with a cheeky smile in his voice.
"I care not."
"You will be my first and so far only wife... so I suppose you'd be a head wife." He says pulling you back into the long grass with him his arms wrapped around you as you can smell the stew cooking hearing the bubbling of the contents inside the pot.
"Why..." You say softly listening to his hearts beat and of course he would hear you speak.
"Why else would a man take a wife? Yes perhaps to secure alliances... to secure cooperation between families..." He sits up with you and you feel his hand under your chin tilt your face up to look into his gentle brown eyes, "But I want you because I love you."
Your throat tightens as your eyes meet his as your breath is held for far too long... his mouth kissing just the corner of yours. "White Scars rarely take wives. My grandmother told me... you all are free spirits laughing... lovers you will take and like trickster spirits fleeting lovers... so-"
You are cut off as he takes your hand and presses it to his throat. Your hand trembles at the feeling of just his throat against your hand... you feel unworthy to hold it but he keeps it there as he leans in pressing his forehead to yours. "I offer you myself... I offer to be a kind and fair husband... I offer you my freedom."
"Nogai no." You say recoiling but he keeps your hand on his throat, his hand on your hip, keeping you close.
"Yes Хонгор. Listen to me... I give you my all. I give you myself." He says with devotion in his eyes, "I can take you away right now..." He whispers... "I gave your father payment for you... you can come away with me. It's all your choice..." His hands cup your face and you realize you're holding his throat all on your own. Your heart beating fast and hard as no mortal woman should have this much power... is this what your grandmother's great aunt felt when she was taken? Your heart and mind are racing as everything you've been taught... been told to sacrifice are all falling to the wayside as you pull yourself closer and kiss him.
A meal is shared between the two of you and you know he lingers longer than he normally does but you are unwilling to let him part... He tells you he will only leave when you dismiss him... and you let him linger... until it is so very late and he offers you to rest with him as he seems to have a small tarp to make a lean to with.
Perhaps you could be a little selfish?

Some time ago I created five biological sisters for Magnai Oronir. I decided to also add three brothers but recently decided to reduce that to just two brothers. Here are my Oronir OC and a little bit about them. Later I'll make a post specifically for Magnai to show some things I've noticed about his character as well as some of my own headcanon. From oldest to youngest:
Temujin - 38 Years
Tumblr media
Temujin is Magnai's oldest brother. He specializes in archery, but is also skilled with a spear. He's the tactician of the family and is considered incredibly intelligent when it comes to war. He and Magnai get along well for the most part. They often argue about the intensity of Magnai's desire to find his Nhaama. "It will come in time, brother, if you are patient first."
Temujin is married with three children. He can be a bit of a hopeless romantic at times and loves his family dearly. This causes Magnai to become jealous of his brother's good fortune. This may be one reason why he sometimes avoids the happy-go-lucky Temujin.
He leads a band of archers that scout around the Steppe to find the best places to hunt, gather, or to provide surveillance against the threat of hostile tribes.
Khorijin - 35 Years
Tumblr media
The oldest of Magnai's sisters, Khorijin doesn't mess around. She's taken up the axe just like her father and knows how to swing it. Quick to anger, Khorijin is a hot-head, but she's equally just as loving... she just prefers to show it in the form of a wedgie or something.
She is married and takes great pride in her young son. She primarily leads war parties with her brothers and protects the clan as they move about the Steppe. Khorijin also leads a small band of female Oronir warriors that she fondly refers to as Daughters of Azim.
Khorijin is the hardest of all on Magnai. They tend to butt heads the most and often argue loudly about everything and anything, but mostly about who is more fit to lead the Oronir.
Yesui - 33 Years
Tumblr media
Yesui is the third oldest of Magnai's sisters. She shares a close bond with her twin brother, Tagai. Yesu was the second to marry behind Temujin and has two daughters. She is probably considered the most mature out of the bunch! Yesui is considered a second mother to most of her siblings. A bit of a mother hen at times, Magnai gets along best with Yesui despite her constant nitpicking.
Yesui's job is sheep herding. She gets up before the sun rises to give all of the other herders their assignments for the day. Yesui is very organized and managed to find a way to herd the sheep in the most efficient way possible! "Xaela are only as strong as their herd."
While she is rarely quick to anger and is less eccentric than her other sisters, Yesui still finds a way to get under Magnai's skin at times. She's also the only one to really encourage his hopeless romantic tendencies.
Tagai - 33 Years
Tumblr media
Tagai is probably one of the quieter members of the family as well as Yesui's twin. Most aren't even quite sure how Tagai met his husband. "You never speak," they cry. Tagai may be a man of few words, but they are generally filled with wisdom and thoughtfulness. Although he can be a bit on the shy side.
He and Magnai enjoy a comfortable silence when they hunt or spar together. Tagai tries to give Magnai advice on how to find his Nhaama, but often finds that his words fall on deaf ears.
Tagai doesn't enjoy unnecessary conflict. He is happy to defend their tribe, fight in the annual Naadam, and hunt. Anything else just seems like a waste of strength to him because he deems anything else as trivial. He rolls his eyes at his siblings petty bickering.
Narengawa - 30 Years
Tumblr media
Narengawa spends most of her mornings praying to Azim and Nhaama. She's also a skilled weaver and can be found in the markets of Reunion selling clothing and other useful items.
Narengawa is the tallest among her sisters and considered very beautiful by others in the tribe. She is happily married and has three children that she adores. Sometimes she can be a little vain and often wears brightly colored clothing she adorns with various chains and colorful stones her husband brings her.
Magnai doesn't generally get along with Narengawa. She's constantly critiquing his attire, his posture, his overall appearance, and just about anything else she can find that isn't quite up to her standards.
Chambui - 25 Years
Tumblr media
Chambui dabbles with various different mediums and excells at magic. She takes the politics of the clan very seriously. She's generally the one who's the best with words. Reading and writing is something she is very skilled at which does tend to set her apart from her brethren.
Other than Magnai, Chambui is the most passionate about preserving their way of life. Everything she does is for the good of the Oronir. She currently is not spoken for but has several suitors waiting and willing to pledge their lives (and their blood) to her.
Chambui can normally be found performing strange rituals and occasionally commits to animal sacrifices for good harvests or to bring rain. Magnai often runs the other way when he sees Chambui coming (especially if she has a small blade)! She's always trying to cast different spells on him or get him to ingest strange things, especially before the Naadam, to "aid" him in battle.
Yisu - 23 Years
Tumblr media
Finally, the youngest of the Oronir siblings. Yisu is the smallest and considered more soft-spoken than even Tagai. She tends to keep to herself and enjoys her solitude.
She is unwed and single as far as the tribe knows despite recent rumors spreading around Reunion of a budding friendship between herself and Sadu Dotharl.
Yisu may be considered the most mild-mannered of the sisters, but that doesn't mean she gives Magnai a pass. She does her best to give him her best courting tips, but they often backfire on Magnai, which in turn causes them to argue. "You have to try, brother!"
Yisu is an amazing cook and helps Narengawa with her weaving. Occasionally she may assist Yesui with her herding duties, but mostly she is closest to Narengawa. Yisu's sense of family is very strong and she is considered the peacekeeper of the Oronir siblings.

Final designs for my Rough Rhinos next-next-next gen. And YES! It's a friendship bracelet that they all have. Ages in Book 4.
I tried to give them a bit less "polished" looks as they are outsiders, they don't come from very rich or venerable families.
From left to right:
Samsara /Vachir Jr - 18 yo: growing in a family mixing fire and earth people, she tries to affirm her fire side only wearing black, greys and dark reds with a bit of gold. The only earth part of her look came from the pants and boots, inspired by The Dark One's outfit. Just managed to join the Yuyan and will soon receive her tatoo. Best friend? Khaan.
Bayar/ Ogodei Jr - 18 yo: the most "social" of the bunch, and the one who tries to look like everyone in the city. Brand new metal police officer. His everyday look is very simple, yet comfortable. He doesn't like over the top outfits. He likes precious fabrics. His best friends are Erdene and Yesui, she is also his confident.
Khaan/ Mongke (& June) Jr - 20 yo: behind his black leather and spikes he's a good boy ( level golden retriever) and quit his cashier job to join the united forces. Only non bender of the group, quite the opposite of his famous ancestor. Best friend: Sam.
Yesui/ Kahchi Jr - 27yo: slightly older she is the mom of the group and tries to keep them out of troubles but won't hesitate to burn down anyone if needed. Works with her parents in the family business, selling tea blends. Besties: Bayar and Erdene.
Erdene/ Yeh-Lu Jr - 24yo: second oldest and the most quiet of all. Just like his ancestor, he's fascinated by explosives and decided to make it his career. Doesn't talk a lot, and probably doesn't like you. Best friends: Yesui and Bayar.
Few facts:
Khaan and Sam grew up together in the countryside, before Khaan left for Republic city, making them closest to each other than of the rest.
Yesui used to babysit Bayar and his siblings.
Sam's brother has a very serious accident which deprived him from an arm, making him unable to became a Yuyan, his father's dream. She took the place, even if it doesn't please their father, who's prefer to see his daughter married and with kids.
Yeh-Lu is the last one to die, he was more than 100yo when it happened, while Kahchi was the first one.
Yesui and Erdene as engaged, and Bayar & Khaan recently started dating, making Sam the only single of the group. She has a very difficult time as she has feelings for Khaan since a long time.
Khaan is gay, Bayar is pan. Sam, Yesui and Erdene are straight.
