Science Museum Group changed offensive object tittle after getting my letter
here's the story about it:
Wonderful @solariium commissioned me wonderful victorian-era wheelchair user character to draw. Refs were provided, and one of the links was an object in online museum gallery - vintage wheelchair.
solariium, who is wheelchair user theirself, mentioned that tittle of the object is incorrect but it was good picture for the ref. i wondered "what's with the tittle?" looked in the link and saw
ID: screenshot of online museum collection, vintage old wheelchai object page. the tittle of wheelchair says: Invalid chair, Europe, 1850-1890. end ID
welp. incorrect indeed! [i* is outdated offensive term]
so i decided to make a special move
ID: my drawing of a character from anime "mob psycho 100" - Arataka Reigen. He holds a phone next to his ear, his face epression is very confident. It's all anime sparkles lights effects around him and text "REIGEN SPECIAL MOVE". end ID
and USE MY POWER
of writing emails
i don't have problems with writing emails, so i thought why not
and
https://collection.sciencemuseumgroup.org.uk/objects/co120657/carved-wooden-wheelchair-europe-1850-1890-invalid-chair
ID: screenshot of online museum collection, vintage old wheelchai object page. the tittle of wheelchair says: Carved wooden wheelchair, Europe, 1850-1890. end ID
it worked!
As human who made bunch of projects, i can say that keeping museum gallery is tone of work.
And tittle change - no, it's not just changing few letters.
Changing tittle of object in museum is similar to changing name of game file. Catalogs changes, maybe they have irl gallery, so new card, they probably have some code objects system related to tittles, and scientists, students, make reference to this object in their researches and articles and etc etc.
So, yeah, it * is * a lot of work. Also, they changed description, it now says that this object was "historically referred to as ‘invalid chair’". And i think it's good, because it is not erasing fact of people used this word, and it's addition to the progress context - we literally see now old term clarified as past, and new one, now, in the tittle.
(and yes, web link. i just saw that i* word still there. yeah, not perfect but still, considering things i said above - big work done)
I used some conversation strategy in case "this is offensive can you fix" will not be enough — started on positive attitude giving compliment on their collection being big and interesting, gave them extra argument on why this should be fixed (more actual search key words on this now are "vintage wheelchair", not "i* chair"). Then we had a little letters chain, where they answered politely too, and in about few days i got detailed answer on this, and yep, changed tittle.
And i think this shows, that if someone did mistake and someone noticed it and giving feedback on it, if both sides are interested in progress and making good changes, no matter how hard it is, sides can make a change, working together and being kind. And i think we should be more brave about making such connections!
Thanks again to @solariium and museum workers!

Lord 2nd
Warnings: nsfw
After my comeback, I just had to write about my favorite<3
"Next thing you know, you’re laying on your stomach, ass in the air"
——
Just like every other day, you pack your husband’s lunch, some onigiri along with veggies. You leave a little note on a post-it: "I love you, have a good day Lord 2nd<3"
Of course, your husband never shows you how much he appreciates this little gesture of yours, but deep down, you know he is a sucker for it. He is a sucker for you.
Around lunch time, like every other day, he opens his lunch bunch, more eager to see your note than to actually eat. And yes, he keeps all of them in his office drawer along with a picture of you and some previously stollen panties. He is a sucker for you after all. Usually, he can contain himself and wait until his shift is over to see you, but not today. He must see you now, so he sends one of his bodyguards to bring you back to his office.
At first, you’re concerned, worried something might trigger him and you were right. His bulge between his legs is stopping his precious work. He welcomes you and sit on the couch in his office. Next thing you know, you’re laying on your stomach, ass in the air, with him slapping and squeezing the flesh of it. He slaps your ass, hard and wiggles your butt. Oh man does he loves that, and you can feel his cock stretching against the fabric of his pants.
"Sorry baby couldn’t help but think about you today."
And he lifts you off his laps just so you can be on your knees before him. He puts his hand behind his head and waits for you to unzip his pants. Poor man can’t do anything without you, and you know exactly how to turn him on even more.
"Lord 2nd, may I suck your dick, pleasee?"
Such a nasty stuff asked so politely he thought for himself, as you look at him with doe eyes. But it is no secret how it makes him even harder when you refer to him with his tittle. And you do just that, unzipping his pants and taking him whole in your mouth. You may have been married for a couple of years now, his big size is never easy to take. His cock is just perfect, a little more than 8 inches with a crazy diameter, a moderately large vein on the side and a perfect pink tip. Well… usually it’s pink but in moments like these, his tip is more like an angry red, just waiting to burst. You suck him way to good, you’re overqualified he thinks, but he would never tell you that. Instead, he just moans like a little boy who’s having his first time even tho both of you are extremely active. A little concerning your friends would say even.. You just can’t get away from each other.
You know his lunch break is short, and his bodyguards will ask for him soon so, you do his favorite things. You run your tongue along his vein, massage his balls and suck really hard on his tip.
It is not long before his hips buck uncontrollably, and he’s a mess. His hands are now in your hair, pulling them, you are just too good for him. It is only a matter of seconds before he cums, pulling out of your mouth to mark your face. He moans as he paints your face white and you can’t do anything but to take it from him, even if it is in his office.
It takes him a couple of seconds to regulate his breathing but when he does, he puts his now soft length in his boxers and pulls his pants up, you are still on your knee waiting for him to clean you up. And that is when the door opens abruptly.
"Lord Hokage!"
His bodyguard wanted to inform his superior about something, but he’s instead faced with his wife on her knees, her face covered in cum. He is so surprised he just stays there, silent.
Your husband chuckles..:
"Come on, you thought I never did things like that? I to have martial duties you should know."

here's a thought: I've noticed that people (despite shipwars) want Azriel to be the 'shadowsinger'more than just AZRIEL?!
may it be fanarts, reels, tiktoks, fanfics, he's always referred to as the shadowdaddy/ shadowsinger. it's honestly kind of sad, coz what i really want is to know Az as Azriel and then as the shadowsinger. sometimes i feel like people just use shadowsinger to equate him as hot (which it obviously is) but there are fewer people who actually want to see the real Azriel, despite his job/role as a shadowsinger. Yes being a shadowsinger is amazing, but sometimes people forget that it's a role/job/tittle, they also forget that he has an identity besides that aswell.
like he’s a person(fae) after all, not just the shadowsinger. tbh, i would rather read him as normal fae, with his interests, hobbies, humor, etc rather than read about " ShADoWdaDdY 🤪"
thoughts?
[only adding elriel in the tags, because last time i was sent death threats from GA shippers, and surprisingly tamlin and elain sippers?¿(lord knows what that was)]

Shigaraki Tomura, Izuku Midoriya, and their past selves in Horikoshi's other works, an Analysis.
How their archetypes can be traced back all the way to Hori's oldest works!
Today I finally felt with the energy to write this analysis I've been cooking in my head for some months!
I'll be pulling apart the core elements of each of Hori's past work's protagonist duo and how they are essential to everything Hero Academia has became
It will be long.
First things first, let's start with Horikoshi's first work ever!
1. Tenko One Shot.
This tale tells us the story of two main characters, Hana and obviously, Tenko!
Hana is a woman aspiring to be a samurai, she is hopeful and stubborn, but is shunned down by most and ridiculed by other samurais for being, well, a woman wanting to be something only men can be.
But just like Izuku, she is VERY stubborn, and won't give up her dreams at all.
( You can read the full thing here btw! https://imgur.com/a/v7oBkfx )
Our second protagonist, and main tittle of the story, is a little boy called Tenko, who she meets when he literally attacked her lol
Like Tomura, he has the power to decay anything he touches, and is in seek of revenge, his goal is to destroy all swords after his mother was cruelly killed by a samurai.
Despite all the hatred the feels, he is still a kid, suffering and crying in seek of relief for his grief.
He is known as a vandal, and is being wanted dead or alive by the authorities for interfering in battles.
Hana, gentle and caring, notices the pain in Tenko and takes him with her, to take care of him, after all, he is just a child.
But after being found by an official, believes she has the chance to be recognized as a samurai if she give Tenko to the authorities, and well- it obviously goes terribly wrong- as she is attacked by them instead.
Suddenly realizing how cruel they truly are, she takes her own sword and fight them to defend Tenko, making Tenko also realize, swords can be used to protect and save.
In the end, they end up to saving each other, Hana saving Tenko's heart, making him realize his hatred will never lead anywhere, and lift the weight of his chest by winning a friend, and Tenko making Hana realize war is more than what she thought.
Tenko obviously, is literally Tomura's first prototype, the decay power, the white hair, the hatred, guilt and grieve are all there.
But what if I told you Hana is also, pretty similar to Izuku? Both have a dream that is deemed impossible to reach, due to something they lack, and are a joke to most people, but despite it all they never give up, and manage to reach their goals. They are also strong but gentle and caring ( ngl Izuku might even be more soft than Hana ajhdka)
2. Oumagadoki Zoo
This one, guess what, also have a female protagonist, yes also called Hana.
Aoi Hana is a bubbly, awkward and stubborn girl with her head in the clouds, but teased by everyone, known as "good for nothing" and useless.
She then decides to get a job during summer break, to prove she is more than capable of helping.
As an animal lover, she gets a job at the local Zoo as a cleaner, but she discover that the Zoon principal is a literal bunny person.
Shiina, the other protagonist of the story, is a man-child dude, he was cursed as a kid for being mean to a bunny, turned into a rabbit until he learned to be kind and help animals. Much like Tomura, he is short tempered, a gremlin, a little bitch!
He created the zoo to try to break the curse, and now counts with Hana's help to do so. The zoo, by the way, is also full of cursed half human half animal people!
The manga was canceled, so Hori had to rush the end, it has only 5 volumes, but I believe it would end with Hana finally breaking Shiina's curse.
Well, the similarities to Tomura? Once again through the roof, he is literally Tomura without depression (and scars and wrinkles)! He is a brat, selfish, intelligent and powerful, but incredibly dumb, he even refers to the other zoo people as "comrades" the exact same word Tomura refers the League of Villains as! They even sit down the same, careless way! Bad posture kings 🦐
Now, I think you noticed that Hana's story is also familiar? Yes! IZUKU
Both are deemed useless, are clumsy and awkward, and have pretty much low self esteem, but are kind, gentle and loving, and have an altruistic heart!
Just like in Tenko, Hana is key to saving Shiina's heart, and both learn a lot with each other, as Shiina sees the worth in Hana, and Hana sees the kindness in Shiina, evolving each other to the better.
3. Shinka Rhapsody One shot
This one is pretty much lost media, very few people know about it, but i found a thread about it
(thread here https://twitter.com/HeroFletch/status/1273054822162456578 )
It is literally MHA but the quirks work in a different way
This time the first protag is the man and the girl is the second, but it doesn't matter lol
The story happens in a world similar to the one of the raise of quirks in MHA, criminal rate is all time up.
The protagonist Magari/Masashi(idk) is, again, a guy with strong personality, seeking for revenge and power, as his family was murdered by a serial killer
He got a power similar to Kirishima's, but oh boy his face and personality is just Tomura all over again, Hori's favorite OC
And guess what??? Ohh he also has a female companion helping him???? YES HE DOES!
Her name is Aoi, yes, like Aoi Hana from the zoo one, yes guess what, yes, bubbly awkward, yes.
She is an aspiring detective and has the habit of asking people if they like Katsudon, her favorite food.
Wait... Katsudon? As favorite food... Where I saw this before-
4. Boku no Hero One shot.
here if u wanna read https://yesmangas1.com/manga/boku-no-hero-ym23733/one-shot#1
This one is a break to the pattern, no Shigaraki look alike, no Aoi Hana, but, someone who is pretty similar to her in personality:
Jack Midoriya
Jack Midoriya is a quirkless man in a super society, his job is to sell support items, but he is too awkward, clumsy and stubborn, causing more problems than helping, he has an impossible dream of becoming a hero, so he tries to become the first quirkless hero! (it goes wrong)
There is a girl in this story too, i guess she is this Izuku's Uraraka, they are both literally the same in personality, so i guess hori Split Hana in two for this one.
5. Barrage or Sensei no Bulge
(the second tittle is so funny lmao)
This time hori completly threw everything out and said: fuck the pattern, fuck Hana, fuck Tenko wanabe!
It has literally nothing to do with anything he did previously. Astro, can be similar to Izuku, but hmmm not fit the mold, so i'll just skip lmao, it also was canceled, ending in 2 volumes anyways.
SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION
So far, we can conclude a very recurrent pattern in every work Horikoshi publicized (except barrage lolz)
Protagonist 1:
Is a gentle, caring, stubborn, clumsy and awkward person, they have a heart of a hero, but are often seen as weak, useless, and stupid for dreaming too high. They can be strong when they want to, but feminine and loving too, they are altruistic, loyal, and focused. Their role in the story is to find their own self worth, as well as help the 2nd protagonist break free from a torment.
Protag 2:
A selfish, childish, mean and also stubborn boy, who's heart is filled with hatred, hurt and grief, they are cursed somehow, and besides having a rough exterior, deep inside they are still just a child who seeks relief. Their role in the story, is to after Protag 1 advances, open up and allow themselves to be saved in heart and mind.
Of course, due to the past series length of few pages to only a few volumes, they open up to each other and befriend rather quickly, but MHA is well- 40 volumes long by now, ofc course P.2 will give much more trouble to open up, it's not that easy to cure someone's bitterness and guilt!
Which leads to Horikoshi's last work, My Hero Academia.
The story of protagonist 1 incarnated as a mix of every character Hori wrote before as Izuku Midoriya, a quirkless boy who feels useless, but has a big dream, a kind heart and the desire to save.
And also the story of MHA's society's biggest victim, a childish man who has been hurt in every possible way, by every person he dared to trust, be it his own family or his "sensei", Tomura Shigaraki is nothing but a child at heart, crying onto his puppy, waiting for the one who will save him.
This is undeniable, I was already sure with everything I've read in MHA that Tomura is getting saved, Izuku yelled it himself, and the narrative is walking towards that.
But after analyzing Hori's part works, and see how wholesome and hopeful his stories are, how he desires to transmit the message that everyone deserves a second chance, i have no doubt.
Tomura is DESTINED to be not only saved, redeemed or live, but to have a happy ending and finally have a friend to trust.
As every story so far ended with the kind one befriending and becoming a pillar to the hurt one.
Izuku and Tomura are more than the heart of My hero Academia, but also the heart of everything Horikoshi wants to tell to the world.
They are fated to end the same way every time, in every universe.
BESTIES ARC IS COMING.

I'm dying at charlie trying to minimize galadriel's importance to sauron by saying that he wanted her as his number #2 not as an equal as if queens weren't exactly this to kings since the inception of royalty I mean, there's a reason Elizabeth II was married to a prince/duke and not a king
Queen and King is not only tittle but also rank and yes contrary to what charlie have also said in the past a queen is the wife of the king That's the very definition of it In fact, when queens have ruled in their own right people were very confused about how to address them Marguereth of Denmark was called lady king while Cristina of Sweeden were referred to with male pronouns/as king in official documents because you see you wouldn't use the title of the wife of a king to adress a reigning monarch
Charlie is a troll (evil laugther) 😈
He is really out him staying that he didn't want her as his equal only as hid wife but not as a wife
It's hysterical funny 😁
HAHAHAH lol exactly what I was thinking the other day !
Actually, making him his secretary/assistant would even be an upgrade comparing to the role that what most king's wives had in history... King's wives were generally expected to give their king a male heir, to be pretty and to not engage in politics. They were also lucky when they actually loved their husband and were loved by him, because their marriage was always planned by other people than themselves 🥴
So there's nothing really extraordinary, let alone a proof of Sauron's *evilness*, in having that sort of plan for Galadriel in his head. He would just be your average misogynistic dude, and he's corrupted af anyway so he could have good intentions in the beginning but would just dismiss any attempt from Galadriel to actually rule 😂
I feel like when Charlie speaks like that, or when he insists that Sauron "can't love" because he's too evil yada yada, it's mostly PR strategy and self protection. I think it's easy to forget that any male actor who plays a villain, especially one as Sauron who won't get a redemption arc, is in a tricky position when it comes to discuss his character's feelings. If Charlie, a white straight man, even suggested that Sauron loves Galadriel, and even if he added that he did love her in a very unhealthy way, "not the way to treat a girl you love in real life guys don't do it" style, he would immediately receive a shit ton of hate from all the antis and other lore-bros who would call him "abuse apologists". You know it would happen.
So he could of course say that Sauron would want Galadriel to be a stay at home mum who also takes care of the paperwork, but it would acknowledge the romantic relationship of the relationship... and I totally understand why he's reluctant to do that.
Now I'd just like him to say the same thing in a joint interview with Morfydd, and hear Miv mock Sauron for even wanting to try to tame Galadriel 😂 Not saying she (Miv) would, but every time I personally think of Sauron trying to "tame" Galadriel and ruling by himself, I also imagine cosmic domestic squabbles.... And even more intense cosmic reconciliation sex 😏😇

Their very first year at Welton - Described by Steven Meeks
Description: the tittle is kinda self explanatory. [1,3k words]
The prompt is inspired by @i-love-steven-meeks :3 I had fun writing this. It's pretty much just my personal hcs for pre-canon and there's a few more that I didn't include here actually, so I might make more posts on pre-canon stuff. Anyway, hope you enjoy <3
🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡.
The year was 1955. I was twelve, and starting seventh grade.
I had only been in Welton for a week and already missed home. It's not that I wasn't grateful for being at such a prestigious academy, but I had no time to do anything anymore. I had hoped I would at least have the weekends to go explore the library, yet soon I realized weekends were barely enough to finish all the assignments we were given.
The other guys in my class seemed to be in a similar situation, maybe even worse, actually. It didn't take long for some students to start realizing how tough the classes were.
There were a few boys that would stand out, as there usually is. Charlie Dalton and Neil Perry were two of them. They would laugh too loud, talk too much, and generally be disruptive. Charlie, contrary to Neil, was a huge back-talker to the teachers. He got particularly mad at a professor one day, when Neil asked to to go the bathroom and was denied. (I think they even called his parents to complain about him). Both of them mostly talked to each other, and it was clear they were already friends from before Welton.
Every once in a while, the class would be asked to pair up for some project. For as long as it was possible, I did the projects on my own. Pair or groups were always stressful and I like things to be done my way, which was often the right way. Eventually, a professor said no and forced me to look for a pair. That was when I started to get to know my roommate, Gerard Pitts, who also did most of his projects alone.
Pitts was quiet to the point no one actually knew what his voice sounded like. He was the tallest in class and seemed to be a very serious guy. At first, I thought he was intimidating, but soon I realized he was just terribly shy.
Being roommates with him was easy. Most of our interactions could be summarized by "good evening", "good morning" and "can I open the window?". And that was that for at least the whole first month, until the exams started. Pitts barely even slept sometimes, studying for hours on end and still barely getting decent grades.
I offered to help, and that's what I consider the beginning of our friendship. Although Gerard himself would disagree. According to him, we officially became friends when he made a reference to Aslan from Narnia and I actually got it.
As we started to learn how to manage all the school work, we were left with some free time that was mostly used to read and chat outside. Everything seemed boring when it rained though.
It was one of those days. A Saturday without homework was rare, and it was truly a shame how much it was raining. Me and Pitts sat on the stairs, feeling bored while watching the older students pass by.
"Hey, you two," someone called. It took us some time to realize we were the ones being spoken to. I looked up and saw Charlie and Neil, who I still hadn't interacted with before. "Want to play hide and seek? We need more people."
Gerard shrugged, so I said yes.
(Sometimes I wonder how many things would've been different if I hadn't done that. A few days ago, out of curiosity, I asked Charlie what his thoughts were on the matter. His answer was: "nothing, we would've become friends some other way", which is nice to think about.)
We played for pretty much the whole day and probably would've for longer if it wasn't for the chemistry teacher telling us to go back to our dorms at night. Neil won more times than all of us together, and Charlie bruised a knee while he ran from Pitts (who was very unsurprisingly faster), but we hadn't had that much genuine fun in a while anyway and I really needed some reason to laugh at the time. It's a day I hold dear in my memories. Little me had no idea how close I would grow to those people. Heaven knows it was hard for some of us to be away from home for so long.
In a couple months, the teachers already hated our quartet. Even though we didn't even particularly misbehave during class, we were insufferable to deal with if we were all together. I'd be lying if I said I'm proud of how I was, I was pretty stupid sometimes y'know. Not that I ever met anyone who likes their 12 years old self.
Something curious I particularly remember is thinking that Charlie was kind of a bully, and being quite confused on how he was even friends with someone as nice as Neil. As the weeks passed though, I started noticing he only picked on me and Pitts if he knew we weren't upset for real. Turns out Charlie was actually the sweetest out of us, in his own way.
He saw me crying once. I will admit that I did cry a lot in my first year. I missed my room, my old school and my parents. Charlie made some joke about me needing to man up, I don't even remember exactly what he said. I think joking was his first instinct, the guy didn't really know what to do. He apologized later, and stayed with me until I stopped crying.
I mentioned that story to him in tenth grade one time, and he didn't really remember. He had just had a big fight with Neil and they didn't talk for like two weeks. It's the only time I ever saw Charlie cry. I did his homework for him that day and let him stay in my dorm for a while. He ended up falling asleep on my bed, so I had to sleep with Gerard. None of us ever mentioned it again, there was no reason to.
It was in that year that Cameron joined the group, because he was assigned to be Charlie's new roommate. I'm impressed they even let Neil and Charlie be in the same room for that long actually. The two scream so much, no wonder they had to switch rooms.
Knox, on the other hand, didn't share a room with any of us. We became friends in early eighth grade, as far as I can recall. My first impression of him was that he was pretty annoying. Time only proved me right, yet we got along surprisingly well. He became a part of the group quite quickly, although he and Charlie would argue a lot.
I can't quite process it's been four years since I became a student at Welton. It feels like a whole life. What's weird is that as much as I hate this place, I wouldn't change it for the world. Some people are meant to meet, y'know. Right now, I'm currently sitting on my bed as I write this, and Pitts is on his bed, snoring. I'm in eleventh grade now, and there's a new addition to our group. His name's Todd Anderson, he's roommates with Neil. He seems nice, I like him already.
I don't know exactly why I'm writing this. I guess I just want to keep these memories written somewhere, for me to read again someday.
Maybe in the future, like a decade later, I'll be able to bring this up if we still make the dead poets' meetings. I hope we're all still together by then, but I'm not too worried about it. Unless some of us die, we'll be.
I gotta go to sleep now. This was fun to write though.

Prince Philip: 'A capacity for unbridled kindness but intolerant of faff' - my memories of the duke by Alastair Bruce (April 12th 2021)
ARCHIVE LINK
The Duke of Edinburgh was a motivator, an impatient moderniser, but he could be abrupt.
Prince Philip had a directness of manner that seemed to alarm many people and even horrified some. But he was capable of unbridled kindness, with the capacity for huge affirmation, support and encouragement.
People of his generation who knew him well said his character was forged from the rather challenging circumstances of his upbringing. Yes, he was royal: a grandson of the King of the Hellenes but, in truth, not really Greek.
The duke's blond good looks came from his Danish ancestry
The throne of Greece was given to a Danish prince in 1863 and this accounted for his blonde Viking good looks. But Greece was never entirely at ease under its monarchy and this put many pressures on Prince Philip's family; added to which, his parents did not enjoy an easy marriage.
Whatever the circumstances of his childhood, Prince Philip was conditioned to be independent, capable, determined and pretty intolerant of faff.
Learning about his rather unconventional start in life, from the vantage of today's social understanding perhaps it's easy to grasp why.
But I want to underscore the frequent kindness he showed to me and invested in many people I know.
Letters about mallard ducks and sturgeon pie
In what has been a remarkable life, he occasionally found time to contact me, often out of the blue, to tell me about things he thought might be of interest.
For instance, in my constant quest to find out the provenance behind strange British customs, he would often share things he had discovered while travelling the country with the Queen. After all, most of his life had been spent living among, colliding with or regulated by the oddities of British life.
The Queen and the duke in July 1947 in Edinburgh, four months before they wed
One letter he wrote to me concerned mallard ducks with gilded beaks.
It had amused him when the Queen, as Duke of Normandy, was presented with two of them on arrival in the Channel Islands, in order to fulfil a feudal due.
Another told me about a pie that had arrived at Balmoral, cooked from a sturgeon, which tradition stipulates must be offered up to the monarch. Both are full of facts, a smattering of humour, but no reference to the weather, how I might be or any other tittle-tattle.
When Prince Philip became the Queen's consort, the change in his life was seismic
It is difficult to understand why he bothered to do this. But I think he was amused to find someone genuinely engrossed in surprising or esoteric interests.
In fact, he was like this with everyone. Or maybe it was his own fascination and passion to fully understand the obscure and how things worked that, seeing it in another, added to his avuncular intrigue.
"This is Alastair... Bungy's grandson"
Not everyone's life had Prince Philip in it. So, perhaps it's worth explaining how he came to overlap with mine.
In 1950, the Duke of Edinburgh took command of HMS Magpie in Malta GC.
For any officer in the Armed Forces, unit command is the tops! It is where your leadership qualities are fully tested and it's where the possibilities for the rest of your career can be broadly set.

It just so happened that HMS Magpie was part of the Destroyer squadron in the Mediterranean Fleet, which was then commanded by my grandfather, Admiral Sir Peveril William-Powlett.
Grandpa was better known as "Bungy", because, as fly-half for the English rugby team in 1922, he had seemed entirely elastic. Every time he was tackled, while at full pelt towards the try line, he seemed to bounce straight up again and run on.
He was also a keen polo player and, here again, the Royal Navy polo team brought Admiral William-Powlett and Prince Philip together.
One of my favourite photographs of them both shows their exhaustion after a fiery chukka under the Mediterranean sun: the youthful and handsome prince beside his balding boss with cups in hand. Their faces convey the joy and satisfaction of a win - probably against the Army.
The Royal Navy polo team brought Philip and Admiral William-Powlett together
Maybe this professional bond between the spirited and able naval destroyer captain and his Admiral made the Duke of Edinburgh, a generation later, hold his avuncular eye out for me.
It certainly meant a great deal to me that, when the duke introduced me to people of his own naval generation, he would say: "This is Alastair... Bungy's grandson."
"Well, get on with it!" - One of the most influential retorts of my life
When I wrote a book about the United Kingdom's coronation ritual, aged 28, I mentioned to Prince Philip that one day I hoped to make a television documentary about the role of ceremony in national life.
In what possibly proved to be one of the most influential retorts of my life, in that it was probably the catalyst to my career heading where it has, he eyeballed me and said: "Well, get on with it!"
With this, he got up and went. And so did I. To do what he suggested.
The day of the coronation - the duke's words spurred Alastair to make his programme. Pic: AP
In fact, within a few months and a great deal of work, I found someone willing to produce the film and it was commissioned by ITV.
Hearing about this, Prince Philip called me into Buckingham Palace for dinner to hear how the project was going. He also invited the film producer, Lord Brabourne; they were cousins by marriage, through the prince's uncle, Lord Mountbatten.
They bookended me at a heavily polished table in a small dining room overlooking the central quadrangle and listened as I explained the litany of refusals and hesitations our production faced from organisations that viewed cameras as invasive, back in 1992.
One by one, they suggested ways that might help me out. But, make no mistake, it was for me to do the legwork, not them.
When one of the solutions these two champions had plotted for me went horribly wrong (I mean, horribly!) Prince Philip tenaciously engaged with the matter, until a solution was found.
The duke maintained close links with the military all his life. Pic: AP
During this spat, there was a big parade for my regiment, the Scots Guards, at Holyrood in Scotland.
The duke, who was for many years the Senior Colonel of the Household Division, attended this and, afterwards, he spotted me across the throng. Striding over, he delved straight into the precise details on what had happened.
His escorting officers, all of whom were much senior to me, listened while the prince and I forensically unpicked what might solve the problem.
The trick was to bite the cat back - respectfully
The duke also had the measure of my often unbridled tenacity too and, when I made an office call to discuss something or other, he greeted me with: "So who have you infuriated today?"
His staff often berated me, probably with good reason, but I never felt this was at the direction of the prince. Actually, I sensed he rather appreciated a "why not" attitude, wherever he found it.
In fact, he loved to hear about the conflicts I had with organisations, which deemed my requests for filming access inappropriate. Perhaps this was because it reminded him of the challenges he faced, as the young consort of a new monarch inheriting a world of fixed attitudes in 1952 set by his late father-in-law's courtiers.
But Prince Philip was no rabble-rouser and, if he judged the defeat I faced as justified, he freely added his reproach, or added criticism.
Prince Philip could be blunt in his criticism but admired a robust response
To get the best from Prince Philip it was vital you girded yourself for his directness of speech, some blunt criticism and refreshingly ruthless cross-examination.
For some, this cat-plays-with-mouse treatment was daunting. But I learnt quite fast that the trick was to bite the cat back, respectfully, of course. Prince Philip admired a robust response.
Occasionally, he would ask for an absolutely truthful view. You knew this moment in his eyes. When it came to this moment, I would like to think the prince knew I gave it straight. And, assuming you could prove a point that countered his, he accepted with implicit respect.
The duke's extraordinary 'Chamber of Horrors'
On one occasion, the prince took me into a room at Buckingham Palace that I think he called his "Chamber of Horrors".
Here he had gathered an extraordinary array of the presents he had been given during a lifetime of public service, openings and anniversaries.
"What do you think that is?", he asked, while handing me a rough lump of worn and rusted metal mounted on a wooden base. My fingers felt the dedication label and instinctively, I was moving it towards my eyes. "No, don't read the inscription - think! Guess?"
Well, my suggestion was way off the mark. "It's one of the teeth from the machine that dug out the Channel Tunnel," he revealed
It was clear he was interested in the object, what it had done, but I could see why it had not been put on display.
A forgotten meeting and remarkable patience
The duke was a masterful and timely letter writer, never wordy and always to the point. He typed most of them himself, adding his splendid, powerful but minimal signature "Philip" by hand.
While his staff used paper embossed with his heraldic badge in black, the prince himself had it printed in his chosen livery of green. If you sent him a letter, you could be certain that the postman would be back at your door within three days, with a special delivery reply. He dealt with everything with the discipline and efficiency of a wartime naval officer.
A painting of Prince Philip in 2017, the year he retired, by artist Ralph Heimans
On one occasion, I can't think why or how, I completely forgot an office call I had booked with Prince Philip at Buckingham Palace. But then, I am and have always been horrifyingly forgetful.
I remembered with a jolt when the prince's military equerry rang to ask where I was. I admitted that I was in Hampshire. In a voice that sounded barely muffled by a hand, I could hear: "He's in Hampshire, Sir."
There was a short pause, the sound of the telephone being grasped and then: "You're a bloody idiot!" from the prince. Then, with probably as much surprise that I had achieved this particular forgetfulness, he added by way of instant forgiveness: "You had better sort out a new time. I'm here a lot next week."
Indeed, the prince was remarkably tolerant of my inefficiency considering he was the personification of the efficient. One story fully bears this patience out - particularly, as I did not deserve it.
The duke (at Trooping the Colour in 2017) pulled some strings to secure a last-minute message. Pic: AP
I have already referred to the Duke of Edinburgh being Senior Colonel of the Household Division, which included my regiment. When I wrote a book with the photographer Julian Calder on the Queen's Birthday Parade, Trooping the Colour, we wanted a foreword from the senior colonel.
His private secretary asked when the book was to be published. Next week, I replied.
"Next week?!"
Sure enough, within seven days a message of eloquence was ours to print and it made all the difference.
"You're a bloody idiot! Nobody will be interested!"
Within the last few years, we were at someone's house for dinner and, afterwards, while coffee circulated, Prince Philip came and sat beside me on a sofa. He told me how he had been flicking through the TV channels, probably looking for a documentary on nature. "And there you were talking a lot of nonsense about me!"
Well, inevitably, he thought the programme was "jibberish" but, as if, in fact, affirming what I had been saying in the programme, he took up the points I had been making and explained precisely what had been his view of the situation.
Prince Philip broke a heart-shaped chocolate in half and gave it to Alastair's newly-engaged parents
In this way, Prince Philip was endlessly robust, consistently gave zero quarter but would readily square up and be open about facts he knew, if faced by genuine interest.
I think my favourite story about him is not even a memory of mine but one that my mother and father told me once.
The night they announced their engagement, in Malta in 1950, Prince Philip shared a taxi home with them to the road where the two families, my mother's and the Edinburghs', lived.
On the way, a box of chocolates was passed along the line and the prince picked the strawberry-flavoured heart, broke it and gave them each a half.
He came to their wedding, where everyone was in white because this was the naval uniform at the time. This adds a magic to the black and white photographs, some of which include the dashingly Viking chisel-cheeked duke enthralled in conversation.
I still have the clock on my mantelpiece that he and Princess Elizabeth gave as their present, complete with the message of goodwill inside, handwritten and signed by them both.
Within a year, she was our Queen and he her loyal, robust and supporting consort.
A clock presented to Alastair Bruce's family by the Queen and Prince Philip
This change in the duke's life was seismic.
He must always have known it was coming but the suddenness was stark, especially for a capable naval commander whose upwards career was now set by the annual reports he earned from my grandfather's judgement.
From even the small knowledge I have of this titan in British public life, who took such a generous interest from time to time in what I was up to, I can be fairly certain of what he would say to me, after reading this.
"You're a bloody idiot! What a lot of nonsense. Nobody will be interested in this!"

Aw he sounds amazing and I love that his birthday is on Valentine’s Day, also his reference being an obscure tiger yokai is fascinating!
Oh also I think Rina made him some of her homemade cookies~
Yes, Rina did make him some cookies as a welcome gift... it didn't go well. But he adores her nonetheless.
Also, his elemental attribute is Ether ✨️. He is an "Attack Class" ⚔️. S Rank. His Banner would be tittled: "All of Love." His focused stats would be attack and Crit Damage. His W-Engine is called "The Unbound" which has his lashers wrapped around it, but the animation has the lasher unwrap themselves, revealing the W-Engine that looks like him. Once his W-Engine is equipped, whenever he performs a special move, his white hairs and sunglasses glow pink.
And his Character story would be called "Eros and the Game called Love"

✨ Digimon Adventure Tri Short-Stories Collection ✨
Hi Digi-friends! ✨
I decided to start a serie of Digimon Adventure Tri short-stories with some hidden details from the series. All the chapters will be small and independent from each other.
If you want to follow it you can have them all together on my fanfiction.net page: https://www.fanfiction.net/~hikayagamitakaishi
I will be posting them under the tittle " In between the lines " because I think it is enough self-explanatory.
Here I will leave you the first chapter, I hope you like it! ✨
[Happens in between the 2nd and the 3rd Episodes of Digimon Tri Reunion. The morning after the fight at the Haneda airport.]
Odaiba, Japan
7:30
- Ohayo, Hikari-chan!
A familiar voice catches her attention, making her stop and turn around. Softly, he approaches her with a warm smile. Every morning, they met on their way to school to go together. On that particular morning, they both wanted to talk about the events that had occurred the night before.
-Ohayo, Takeru-kun. How are you feeling today? Did you manage to get some rest?
- Physically yes, but mentally I still feel exhausted.
- I understand, I feel the same.
They both walked together across the bridge, at a very slow pace. There was still some time until the beginning of classes.
- I bet Taichi’s football match was cancelled. Maybe next time I will be able to go. - Takeru starts speaking lightly, not wanting to put much weight on the main topic: the digimon incident.
- Oh, I think it may have been. I actually wasn’t there.
- Didn’t you go to your brother’s football match? Did something happen?
Well, that was surprising. Hikari usually do not miss any major event that involves her friends or her brother.
- Ah… no, I just… had another thing planned already.
- You… had a date planned as well?
- What do you mean by… as well?
Takeru slowed down and chose carefully his next words. He had told her that he did invite a girl friend to his brother’s concert… didn’t he? Did she forget? Perhaps, after all... maybe it didn't really bother her anyway.
- I… told you. I invited… a friend to my brother’s concert. Which was also cancelled. So, nothing… really… happened.
- I believe that she will understand if you explain it to her. Maybe invite her again, for the movies or… something else.
He felt trapped. Wouldn’t it be better to just tell the truth? That he didn't invite any special friend to the show, but a group of almost 30 people. Just to sell as much tickets as possible and make Yamato happy? How silly of you, Takeru Takaishi.
- And what about you? Are you planning on reschedule your date? - Time, he needed time to think about a good explanation for all of that.
Hikari laughed slightly. He looked confused and, for some reason she was trying to unveil, concerned.
- It was not a date, Takeru. It was just a birthday. Of a friend. And it was not even a party, was just a small meeting.
- Oh. Really?
- Yes, the only person who referred “dates” here was you! I bet you were excited to meet this girl. Do I know her?
- Ah… about that…I don’t…
- Ah?
- It was… never a date, to begin with.
Hikari coughed.
What in the world was wrong with him?
- How was it never a date to begin with?
- I lied. I am sorry.
- What? Why?
They stopped. Face to face. Takeru had his mouth slightly open, but his throat was caught. How does he undo this knot now? Hikari was visibly confused, but internally relieved. And was finding it all too ironic. Because not only did she go to her friend’s birthday upset with herself for failing her brother, but also because she was indeed, jealous of that date. A date that never existed to begin with.
-Because... I wanted to see how you would react... to the possibility of me going on a date with someone else.
- Takeru… I… don’t know what to say…
- I know, and I am sorry. That was stupid, that was very, very stupid of me.
Hikari looked into his puppy sorrowful eyes and decided that it was impossible to be mad at him.
- You could have invited me. And I would go.
- To the concert? But I told you that if…
- No, not to the concert. To a date.
- A date?
- If we continue walking at this pace, we will be late for class. - She bypassed him and tried to go on her way alone.
- Hikari, wait. - He reached for her arm, and she was forced to look again into his eyes. When did he get so tall? Her cheeks turned slightly red when she felt his warm touch on her arm. Maybe she should have kept silent about all of that. – Is that for real?
- Yes… I mean, if – She trembled in her words. Hikari, please stop talking, she begged herself.
- I literally made this whole thing up simply to try to understand if you would be upset with me dating other people. I know it wasn’t the right thing to do, I should have been honest. But… I didn’t know how.
- Don’t worry about it. Everything is clear now.
- And that means…that if I invite you for a date, after today’s reunion, you will accept?
- Well, maybe.
- Maybe?
He saw her satisfaction smile. No formal confirmation was needed. Everything was indeed clear now. He felt her pulling his arm. They had classes. And time was running out for them to get there. In fact, they adored each other, and those little flirtatious games were part of their way of existing together.

Headcanons about Pedrenzo teammates au please
Hi Anna 👋👋👋👋 thank you so much for this.
This one is tough because it depends a lot on which part of their relationship we are talking about. It's pre-2005? It's 2005? It's between 2008-2010? Or it's 2012 and beyond? (Yes I know I put a gap but there not a lot of info in the 2010-2012 so maybe like pre-2005?, I might or might not have also write about that). I'll try to give 5 head canons for each period, so it's going to be a long post.
Pre-2005
1- Jorge is stocked when he started to work with Dani because that's the rider he used as a reference. And now he's on the other side of the box. Dani is unimpressed. He's just there to win so no matter whose his teammate it he will destroy it.
2- Jorge tried to be friendly towards Dani because he knew he could learn from him, but he was meet with coldness.
3- They don't talk at all. Not even in the debrief, not even in team strategies. Not even when Jorge needs to understand the difference between the new piece/bike Dani has compared to what Jorge has. It's like there's a wall between them in there
4- When Dani wins the championship in 2003 the team partied a lot. Jorge was there like a puppy following Dani and relishing as he FINALLY have Dani's attention
2005
1- Part of Jorge is happy that Dani is his teammate because he knows how good he is. At the same time he knows he's the rider that needs to always beat on track. It's a hard expectation to manage. Dani is just slightly annoyed because he needs to keep his barriers always up. Plus Puig is always telling him to be careful and beat Jorge.
2- Team meetings are a fucking mess. Amatriaín and Puig are always at each other's throats accusing the other of interference/sabotage. They have to split the team meetings in team Dani and Team Jorge and just a few people are in both. to avoid conflict.
3- With each new battle and Jorge crashes the media is all over the team/managers/riders. They are always speculation from sabotage or foult play. Some rivals (De Angelis) might say the team used Jorge as a weapon to make sure Dani won the 250cc Championship the second time in a row.
4- Afer the 2005 Japanese GP Dani is asked to come to the stewards room and discuss Jorge's behavior the team asked Dani to play nice, so he does it. Jorge doesn't get a race ban but he still messed with Dani and De Angelis in the next race and gets it anyways.
5- When Dani wins the tittle that year (Australia), he goes to Jorge's room in the house the team rents in there and rubs his championship. Dani is totally wasted so they might get into a fight and might or might not hate kissed each other.
Between 2008-2010
1- Team tried to brush off the past bad relationship, but after Qatar and the Spanish GP incidents it was clear that they can't. Team is just always doing damage control with them.
2- Team meetings are always separated and Dani demands no data is shared between them.
3- Jorge is always telling the media what's going on, so it's like the media is always at the garage with them. Dani prefers to do the talking on the track., which not always works well as Jorge likes to paint him as the bad guy. Team let them because they are producing results.
4- They bet on results and the winner makes the other do something humiliating.
5- Team doesn't let hem be together in events or do videos for social media due to reasons... Meaning Jorge was shading Dani all the time and Dani always left the place angry. Rumors said the physically fight each other at the back of a garage and might or might not be true.
2012-Beyond
1- Both are hesitant, not sure how they stands they are cordial at each others (if it's post-2015 Dani might be the one to start the first conversation asking about Jorge's collarbone).
2- They split the developing job well. Dani sits there listening Jorge dissect the Yamaha and trying to understand where the Honda is stronger and how to improve the weakness. Jorge sits there looking at Dani when he talks to the engineers for hours about the differences. Also Dani is happy that for once he has a teammate that can actually feel the difference between 2 bikes or different parts (Thanks Marc and Casey for make Dani feel like he's imagining things).
3- They go out for dinners and events and Jorge is always sharing it on social media. They might even train together from time to time in Switzerland.
4- Their media videos are just them talking about 2 stroke bikes, with Dani smiling and Jorge watching Dani. (If it's post 2012 they make reference to the 'And maybe in 2-3 years we get married a lot).
And that's all I can came up at the moment. Sorry

Is the Spirit Macaque King female or male? or can it be taken up to interpretation? I saw some refer to him as male and others female. If Macaque King were female, shouldn't she use the queen tittle?
So I have answered this before and yes for the most part it is left up to interpretation depending on how you read 弥猴 / 猕猴 / 獼猴. I have always seen the Macaque King as female because of how I was introduced to the character, but I know that others do not. And no, they wouldn’t have to use Queen since 王 is a gender-neutral title that could fit “ruler” better than “king” per se.

Ok, I am not a murder drones fan. I know nothing about it, BUT-
I noticed that they made a little joke in the spanish tittle that got lost in the original version AND I NEED TO SHOW IT DO SOMEONE
THE EPISODE IN SPANISH IS CALLED: "LA ÚLTIMA CENA", or traducted to english "The last supper", like the Jesus one.
And this is SO fucking funny because this makes reference not only to that, but to the fact the episode is out while latinoamerica is celebrating the holy week. Aka, Jesus last days before fucking dying
And yes, today the exact thing happening is the celebration of the last supper.
(Data: I am not religious, but I think this is hillarious)
LMAO

Coming back at ya with that jiankong movie thought:
Honestly it could have work better had was a series. It was too face paced that its passes multiple arcs without letting it sits. Hell it completely bypass the arc Xiaotian(erlang dog. Bc i forgot how his name shorthanded to) was in
Yes the love interest had a plot but it wasn’t prioritized properly and been given to the sideline to push her in like a semi love difficult w erlang.(yes swk was there but he too much of a aroace king for the love triangle plot to affect him bad. He did bonded w her but i considered his strongest bond w erlang in the movie. He was going through it tho😭😭 man was third wheeling.
And it was bad in the end. Like idk what happened?? But they parted ways sadly.(mild spoilers but really, all u need to know what happened is that trope that happened to every swk’s love interest happened here.
Despite the tittle being called a jttw movie, it sured bypassed much of jttw stuff to tell erlang story. HELL IT WAS JUST A MENTION THAT SWK GOT HIS NAME IN THE MOVIE AND SHOWED LITTLE OF THE HAVOC HES CAUSING(erlang was happy to remeeting him tho)
(It was cute tho how despite having no name and being just refer as monkey, both erlang and the love interest cared for him. IT SHOULDVE BEEN THROUPLE—IT FELT LIKE IT SHOULD.
Ye s they fought. FOUGHT N A TEAMUPPPPPP SHEHEHSBSBBE
It shouldve been promoted as a erlang shen origins movie w swk meeting him before puti.
I have sm thought about this film by i dont want to give out much spoilers for those who really want to see it.
This version of swk was too good for erlang shen(he shouldve went OFF I TELL YOUUU)
But its so sad to just not see them side by side😭😭 icant decide—my emotions r too mix
asdgar I'm going to be real with you @birbs-n-cats that sounds like a bit of a Mess, if a kind of fun mess to witness. That said, I am quite liking the idea of a love triangle that keeps falling flat because one of the characters ostensibly in it is too aroace for that nonsense lol. And YEAH I haven't seen many but the Sun Wukong & Erlang Shen teamups out there can be pretty neat to watch :D Also AUGH when will the curse of "love interest lady Dies so the guys are Sad" end????

Good Omens World Building + angel!Crowley rank
My offering to the Good Omens fandom!
(This sheet is open for commenter, so feel free to add in your insight in the sheet. Check out the links and notes for source!)
I made this so that I can comfortably declare my theory about Crowley angel rank in the past, but it turned out to be more detailed than I thought, so I put them all in one place. We will get back to Crowley later, so let me introduce what I got in this sheet first!
General timeline from the Beginning, the War, and the Creation.
Angels/Demons Laws & Abilities (bonus theory about Celestial food)
Heaven and Hell Hierarchy/Office/Army
Character's tittle
Christianity reference in real life
It's only after I have finished all that that I realized I only need three vital information to know which rank was Crowley. We got something good out of my suffering anyway, so it's okay.
The points we need:
- Crowley was able to access the file that only Dominions or above can.
- Crowley created Carina Nebula by himself (with cute little help from Aziraphale), and apparently he also created another Horsehead Nebula with Saraqael, so he could be responsible for many others too.
- Dominions control the stars and planets, supervising angels below them.
So yes, I believe Crowley is a Dominion :D
We can also saw how he raised his voice at the lesser demons "You're out of order!!!", it's very fitting the lordship in Dominions!
Dominions are only below Seraphim (aka Gabriel and the guys), Cherubim (not the same one Crowley mentioned in season 2), and Thrones (wheels). Appearance of typical Dominions are in the file.
#good omens 2#good omens#crowley#angel crowley my baby#I'm too obsessed with documenting things?#Probably#people in my old fandom probably already know this#see me go unhinged again pals

hi!,is it true that jace had already seen a redheaded girl, but he didn't know it was Clary?
Hi hi (:
Yeah, it’s true! but I have two answers for that:
The original prologue of City of Bones was from Jace’s pov, in which it's revealed that Jace saw Clary in a dream BEFORE any of the events in CoB, and that would explain why he was so enchanted by her right from the very first moment they actually meet in person.
I’ll leave the extract here and a link to read it:
Deleted Prologue of City of Bones (This was the original prologue for City of Bones from Jace’s POV)
Jace thought of the girl in his dream, the one with the braided scarlet hair. In the dream, he had not been invisible to her. She had looked at him with more than awareness; there had been recognition in her eyes, as if he were familiar to her. But how could a human girl see through his glamour?
He had woken up shivering, cold as if his skin had been stripped away. It was frightening to feel so vulnerable, more frightening than any demon. (…)
And there’s the fact that many many years ago (I think even before CoFA was released or at least before CoLS) during a Q&A on twitter where you could make Cassie a question and she would answer like a character, she answered this:
"Jace: what was the first thought you had when you met Clary?" Jace: 'I know her.'
I think this answer could be a reference that Jace felt like he already knew Clary (even before they meet) because he had dreamed about her before.
BUT there was never a mention or reference during TMI of Jace dreaming about Clary before they met in CoB. And I think that if Cassie wanted to keep that fact canon, then Jace would have told Clary at some point during the books. And there’s also a scene in CoFA while Clace is in the Silent City where Jace says that the one who has the prophetic dreams it's Clary and not him.
So I don't think that the fact that Jace saw Clary in a dream before CoB it's canon, but I don't know if Cassie ever said anything else about it. Maybe it's one of those things that each person decides to believe it or not. I rather think that it's true just because Jace dreaming about Clary before they meet in person? I love the idea
NOW on to the answer that it’s canon!
Awake it’s the tittle of the scene where Jace and Clary meet for the first time in City of Bones but written from Jace's POV!!!
Yes, it’s true! :D Jace actually saw Clary before they interacted for the first time. Twice. We all believed Clary spotted Jace first but it was actually the other way around!
He spotted her outside of Pandemonium, waiting in the line to enter the club, because Clary's hair caught his attention, and then he noticed her beauty:
Awake the scene where Jace and Clary meet for the first time, written from Jace's POV (the link goes to a bunch of extra TMI scenes, including Awake, but you are gonna need to scroll down a bit to find it)
“But none of them are nearly as attractive.” Jace narrowed his eyes as his Farsight rune took effect, following Isabelle’s gaze. Halfway up the line he saw a flash of something bright. Red hair. A girl with bright red hair was standing in line next to a dark-haired boy who was gesturing animatedly. “Well,” he amended. “Almost none of them.”
Isabelle glanced quizzically toward the bar entrance. The red-haired girl was smiling. Jace wondered if Isabelle saw her. There was something about her. It was like looking at something bright. Not just her hair, the color of it, but a brightness that seemed to come from inside her.
The second time he spotted her, Clary was dancing and Jace already knew there was something different about her. Even Alec could tell...
It was the girl with red hair and her friend. Jace stood up straight. The girl had taken her hair out of its ponytail and it spilled down over her shoulders, the color of a sunset. She was dancing with her eyes closed. And Jace felt something inside him stir at the way she moved, as if she had found her own circle of peace inside the chaos. She seemed sheltered by something he didn’t quite understand as she danced — and he had seen people dance and move with rare skill and amazing grace — with no sense of rhythm or practice.
Jace rarely thought about mundanes. They were the people he was supposed to protect, but his father had never brought him up to think about them as anything but an undifferentiated mass of needs and wants. A need to be saved. A want to be ignorant. Never to know of the darkness that surrounded them, the things that moved in the shadows.
He had never thought of them as carrying light themselves. But the girl with the red hair, there was a light around her.
“You’re staring,” Alec said. His voice was clipped, disapproving. “At that girl. With the red hair.”
