This anon reminded me how last year Jenson said that Oscar lacked personality (around the Mexican GP) and then blamed Oscar for the Imolia incident in qualifying even though Tom said it was his mistake. He seriously has a problem with Oscar.

As for the second part, McLaren has a serious operational problem because Oscar was unable to complete a clean lap in qualifying due to a team error. I know that McLaren last fought for regular victories in 2012 and that returning to the top costs many mistakes that have to be made during this process, but these mistakes must end quickly. Especially now that Mercedes has joined the group of teams that fight for something bigger than only points. I'm really curious about the next two races.

LOL yes i recall having thoughts on that incident but i don't remember the exact quote, would you happen to have it somewhere? i don't want to get too tinhatty on this but i do feel like jenson sometimes doesn't really know how to feel about oscar... to be clear he's definitely been complimentary before and obviously isn't constantly lambasting him or anything but it's true that a lot of his quotes about oscar tend to be somewhat... measured + occasionally veering into critical??? personally it amuses me a little because a lot of people (incl jenson's colleagues) compare him and oscar personality-wise and constantly talk about oscar's "maturity" & he and oscar have similar contractgate lore except between the two of them oscar is the one who came out on the better side, and it makes me think of how jenson kind of enjoys being the Unaffected Mature guy around younger drivers and is used to being an object of idolization so he's kind of just like .....? what am i supposed to do with this one. but that's just how i see it hlsdkfh i totally get if people are put off overall 🙇‍♀️

anyway re: more important point!!! i totally agree with you, so many of oscar's biggest "what-ifs" have come off the back of mclaren compromising his qualifying performance instead of his own lack of pace which is deeply frustrating as an oscar fan. speaking of their previous competitive era though it's kind of funny that that was literally with jenson AND that tom was on his side of the garage during his entire mclaren tenure (also andrea was race engineering nando at the time... that man is immortal) 😭 but yes, overall the personnel in the team has changed massively since then so it's not really the same "team" anymore and it makes sense that they're struggling with the transition, but as you said there's a lot of urgency behind getting to the other side as quickly as possible now that mercedes have found better form. the thing is that coming into the season the goal from leadership was always cautiously structured around "fighting for wins," so in that sense we've accomplished the goal and are in a good position, but obviously we now need to push toward "winning the championship" with much more insistency and there are clearly still pieces missing. i don't have many hopes for the wcc this year because the fact that there are always teams duking it out in the top 4 (ferrari were stronger than us at the start of the season, but now that they've fallen off we're still getting points taken away because of merc's competitiveness) means it's difficult to meaningfully make up those numbers on red bull so i'm not very optimistic about that 🤷‍♀️ but that being said i'm still excited and intrigued by how the next few races will go!!! especially since spa is 2nd and we all know how oscar feels about it 🥺

i don't have any thoughts about it. speculation in that regard feels uncomfortably tinhatty to me and i don't see it as any of my business. pete is pete. yes there's a lot of sexual ambiguity in his lyricism and yes he likes engaging in freewheeling gender expression but the way he chooses to identify is entirely his business and i don't feel comfortable commenting on it seeing as i dont know the guy. he spent much of the early 2000s being asked "so what are you" in terms of race and then the mid to late 2000s being asked "so what are you" in terms of sexuality and i'd rather not perpetuate that attitude into the 2020s if i can help it

Don’t know if either of them are queer or not but the vibe between them is quite different from what it used to be for many years of the band. Like yes, they were always close but I personally noticed a big shift in November of 2022 while they were touring the US. After that it’s been all levels of weird between them I’m not gonna lie. Yes I agree. I think it might have spawned from Hann getting settled and George, well, we don't talk about it but he was kind of sucked into that relationship of his too so in the end it's just the two of them "left", isn't it—Matty and Ross I mean. They might have gotten closer as a result of that. It's definitely different even on stage these days than it was back then, it's a lot more obvious even when it's not choreographed (e.g. the mic sharing).

a few nights ago i stumbled upon a vid of jensen singing ‘heaven’, and suddenly it struck me that the lyrics match his relationship with misha a lot.

plus, ‘it isn’t too hard to see we’re in heaven’, jensen has referred to misha as an angel many a times, so it’s pretty loud that he would choose to sing a song that could be associated with misha/cas. 

as far as i could tell, he has only performed this song twice, both times in 2019. 2019 is the year they announced that supernatural would be ending after season 15, and it’s also the year that jensen started to be more comfortable talking about destiel at cons and in interviews, and the year he posted the anniversary picture and the jib10 selfie. i think that once he knew that supernatural would be ending soon, he started to be more open about his relationship with misha and destiel. so maybe, just maybe, performing ‘heaven’ was also a little hint at their relationship.

misha has gone to see jensen perform before, and idk if he was there those nights when jensen sang ‘heaven’, but it’s kind of lovely to think that he might have been.

anyway, first of all, a label doesn’t define a relationship. 

okay that’s out of the way. 

onto what i think it’s going on. 

i think... 

that in the course of his marriage and experimentation and all that, over the years, it's mostly been with another women, by vicki's own words in her book. it feels like that was the trend. [...] ETA: i have changed this sentence to take out indications in the book that he may have been with men. i typed it odd and realized i implied that. [...] idk if it ticked enough boxes for him. labels mean different things to different people personally when presented with them. 

time goes by, meets jackles. things hit off. a friend mentioned men in woods sounded tentative, and i agree, and i’m sure plenty of y’all felt that too. i am also one of those little monsters that thinks it’s about jackles, personally. 

like he did not intiate anyhting in that poem. something happened in that poem for it to be included at the end of that section of love, especially when the first poem in that section is about someone else making, i assumed vicki, happier than misha made her feel. i’m free for different interpretations on that, since i’m admittedly not that great with poetry lol.

so the last poem to me, MIW, is about someone who makes him feel happy.

but god as my witness i don't think he thinks a a few trysts as part of a threesome or whatever with a dude over the course of his marriage and then one relationship that's really deep in several kinds of ways with one other man is enough to convince misha he's anything but straight with some fluidity thrown in there.

i think he's been opening up more, however. i and a lot of others, maybe you reading this was thinking that too. that cas and pride month post, wearing pride merch outside of pride month etc etc. 

one thing from his thread that stood out to me was this

clearly that didn’t happen. and personally, and i’m not saying this to invalidate him, but personally i think what he needed is to talk to people about this. idk maybe he’s doing it IRL and we’re naturally not privvy to it. but again, i go back to this part of his tweet

and how he brought up even bisexuality in a little comment about being introverted or extroverted. he didn’t have to do that. and he didn’t have to make the other comments too. 

i think he wants to discuss it, or wanted to. 

but his quip [adhd is a curse] flew too close to the sun. i absolutely do not think the media would have picked up on it if we weren’t parading it around everywhere. but i also fault the media as well, publishing these articles about him without speaking with him, even getting facts wrong about his personal life. everyone has skin in this horribile game so we may as well own up to it. there’s no different between a reporter assuming what his words meant, and us assuming what his words meant. 

so again, i do think that he wanted to talk about it but it’s been a hard conversation to have. 

and now idk if we’ll ever get it. 

the press got ahold of it and once it hit people magazine, i think this is what happened [warning, tinfoil on!]:

1) he now realized he couldn’t really talk about it anymore. 

2) i truly think those articles were a little scary and was getting out of hand. the articles named his children and his ex wife. he has to make sure they’re okay. his kids are getting older, they’re online now. idk if they have twitter or anything but peers may, and peers may see his name trending and click on it wondering what’s going on. protect the family. 

3) any confirmation that he considers himself slightly off the path of straight now opens up people to pry into his private life. you know what’s just beneath the surface of ‘is misha bi????’

cockles shit. you don’t think the press can find this stuff? someone posted about them living together after that tweet last summer, based off of information they had received [which, unrelated but slightly related, very not cool at all wtf]. you don’t think a journalist won’t find misha’s poly comments? his wife’s book? dig up old gossip on jensen of all people? and i bring him up especially because that man has already had gossip columnists accusing him of being gay since early in his career. there were gossip blogs claiming j2 were a thing so much — why would misha want him to go through that again? takes maybe a night of digging through things and receipts. we documented that shit well. 

so that leads me to 

4) protect friends, but especially jensen. like okay again, very VERY tinhatty, but if we’re taking an objective eye to this, it’s clear that even if they’re just friends, they’re pretty damn good friends. with all the jokes over the years, all of our own receipts and speculation, all of the past context a journalist needs to dig up rumors that jensen is, once again, ~*gaaay! oooohhh!!!*~ that’s not great news. 

and from there that’s how Dee gets roped into it, that’s how THEIR kids get roped into it. they’ve had to deal with these allegations before, and they’re pretty private as a family. don’t want to drag people through that. 

so

if misha decided to yoink a label that he didn’t feel comfortable yoinking in the first place, but decided to yoink a queer label without meaningful discussions with people about his sexuality, like he clearly has on his mind, then that would have opened up family, friends, family OF the friends, his whole life up, others’ whole lives up...

and we know what hollywood does to men when this happens. 

no, i don’t think misha intentionally sabotaged himself in the name of cockles or whatever, but i do think this is a multi-faceted thing. 

he’s straight, by his own definition. but it still doesn’t feel like the whole story. and all we can really do is just keep holding hands with him and hope one day there are things he can tell us.

so recently i’ve been digging through misha’s instagram for science (don’t ask.... or ask i don’t have any dignity left either way lmao), i dug DEEP and found two interesting tweets:

so the man obviously knows the traditional anniversary gifts and instantly i remembered that tweet from last december about buying knives and how you crazy people (honorific) connected it to the 11th anniversary

that made me wonder, was it the only time he posted about something like that?? so i looked at his tweets from each year, few days before and after THEE december 14th and i found some interesting things:

I disagree. I think if Misha really is straight and if Jensen really were in love with him, then Misha would not have participated to the extent he did in what you consider the most important cockles proofs and many other things.

I mean, Misha was part of that 10 year anniversary dinner too. He went there with Jensen, took that romantic selfie with him, had nothing against Jensen posting that picture on Instagram and calling it a 10 year anniversary etc. Misha even re-posted that picture on his own Insta stories and so on.

Similarly, Misha also voluntarily went outside into a secluded area after the straddlegate panel and obviously got veeery close to Jensen there, nip to nip, dick to dick, and again was fine with taking a selfie like that.

If Jensen really were in unrequited love with Misha, I don't think Misha would be so cruel as to engage in such intimate, even romantic behavior with Jensen, all the while knowing that he'll never give Jensen what he wants. I think Misha would obviously still be friends with Jensen, but he would keep more of an emotionally healthy distance between them to not make it even harder for Jensen and not give him false hopes.

I only really see 3 options here:

1) Misha and Jensen really are just 2 very close straight bros who don't give a fuck about what's expected of them and aren't afraid of being touchy or emotionally initimate with each other. Which is plausible, J2M have all talked about how they basically don't give a fuck about toxic masculinty anymore, how they tell each other "I love you" all the time and how touchy they can be. Also, and I know cockles people don't like hearing that, but Jensen and Jared have a long history of unusually intimate behavior for 2 straight guys as well. They have told stories about stuff like Jensen wiping Jared's food from his mouth in restaurants for example (they've done that at cons too actually). I also remember seeing set pictures of Jensen spoon-feeding Jared ice cream. I don't know any straight guys irl who do stuff like that, but supposedly these 2 are (or were) just very close bros. If that's the vibe they already had going on, it's easy to picture someone like Misha, who was unconventional already anyway, just joining in with their behavior and that's just how they act with each other now.

2) Misha lied for whatever reasons about being straight aka he went back into the closet, but cockles is still real.

3) Misha and Jensen both consider themselves straight even though they have fucked and have some kind of flirty tension going on. But maybe it's just a "friends with benefits" thing to them or stress relief and they mainly consider themselves straight.

But I really can't see Misha acting the way he does with Jensen, if Jensen really was in love with him, but he was straight. He isn't that heartless.

I must say I made that post as a way to explore that possibility. But if I'm honest, I think there's something else behind Misha coming out as straight. I really don't think he's totally straight, and maybe he's actually bisex but had to come back to the closet for some reasons.

I'm very confused, just like everybody else. And every and each one of us has their own theories. But of all the theories I've seen trying to explain Misha's statement, I think the most thoughtful one is this one:

Still tumbling headfirst through my 9-1-1 re-watch and now I'm throwing this into the abyss: the parallel between 3.12 (Fools) and 2.01 (Under Pressure).

I know it is well established that 70% of Ana's existence is just to parallel Buck in regards to Eddie, but I still don't think we talk about it enough! It's kind of unhinged?! Fools is an insane episode for setting up the Buck/Ana dichotomy, and the context within which that dichotomy is explored is essentially what is revisited in season 4.

Don't be fooled (lmao), this is absolutely a there's-no-way-buddie-isn't-endgame post.

All the rest under the cut, because ya girl is about to monologue.

Okay, so the episode opens immediately on the group of kids trying to be internet famous. These are the same kids in 2.01 with the whole microwave and cement fiasco. It's easy to make this connection because they had a memorable emergency. Right off the bat the show is more or less forcing a recollection of what happened in 2.01 onto the viewers, and since it is literally the opening minutes of the episode, that collective acknowledgement now exists, and will be (at least it was for me) a parallel undercutting the entire episode.

Let's summarize real quick what this episode was about. Yes, Ana is introduced, and it seems like the show is hinting at Eddie maybe moving on with her now or in the future. But the main storyline follows Eddie and Christopher, and Eddie figuring out how to show his son how to navigate the world with CP. It's important that this episode isn't just Eddie-centric, it's Eddie and Christopher-centric.

Additionally, the emergencies in this episode are about relationships either not being what they seem, or pulling through when it seemed like they were doomed from the start (the kid at the beginning "needing new friends," the woman who got shot by her husband, the woman who got stuck in the window on her first date). Yes these relate to Eddie and Ana, obviously, but dare I say this also relates to Eddie and Buck? Humor me here:

Besides the 2.01 implication at the beginning of the episode, there's a moment with Eddie and Carla walking through the hallway of Christopher's new school. It's probably tinhatty and purely conspiratorial, but the first thing out of Eddie's mouth is about the room number 201. I just . . . I spit out my drink. It could have been any room number - in fact they could have worked the script a dozen different ways so as not to necessitate a room number - but they do and then they just happen to land on 201? *side-eye intensifies*

(side-bar: there's something about the science teacher, in a classroom painted with solar system paraphernalia, talking about how "Christopher tells everybody Tsunamis are no big deal," literally bringing Buck into the scene even though he isn't physically there. Hello seemingly pointless dialogue???? Things that make you go "Hmmmm.")

And the parallels don't stop there! I know this one has been mentioned before on this site but it bears repeating for this post. When Eddie and Ana meet, we have yet another callback to episode 2.01, when Ana correctly guesses Eddie is short for Edmundo, and Eddie says, "Most people guess Eduardo." Most people who, Eddie? I know one person and that person is Buck, and it occurred back in 2.01 when they were still in the thick of their enemies to lovers speed-run. Once again Buck is insinuated into the space without being physically present.

And then the scene with the woman stuck in the window, and Eddie and Buck divided on either side of her. The way this scene starts disastrously but ultimately ends on a positive note. The way Buck airs Eddie's laundry out of nowhere after remarking how he himself is indeed single. The way the scene tells the audience that even when things go wrong, everything will work out in the end if you're with the right person. The way the next scene is Eddie and Buck sitting down to discuss Christopher and the skateboarding incident.

I know I'm deep in crackheadery territory at this point in the hiatus but I cannot get the weird feeling out of my gut when I think about this episode. Superficially, yes, it appeared to be about Eddie and Ana's rocky start to their relationship. But with all the mentions of 2.01 and knowing what I know now about how heavily Buck and Ana are paralleled, the ep starts to feel like a metaphor for Buck and Eddie: the rocky start to their relationship, how far they've come, the fact that with the right person everything works out (see: the advice Eddie chooses to follow regarding the skateboarding incident)

It's almost like they created that divergence on purpose. They gave us two episodes, one where Buck met Eddie and things went wrong, and another where Eddie met Ana and things went wrong, where both conflicts are eventually resolved, as if they want us to consider their standing in Eddie's life side-by-side. They tacked 2.01 as an undercurrent to the events of 3.12 from the very beginning because they want us to pit these two against each other. Not to mention heavily, heavily foreshadowing Eddie's main conflicts in the next season, which we couldn't see when Fools aired, but with season 4 hindsight is 20/20.

I feel like the show just knocks us over the head with it sometimes. The parallels demand us to consider which of these two people, who represent different things Eddie is looking for in his life, is the correct fit. And (especially considering season 4) it unsubtly suggests that the surface appeal of Ana is chronically incomparable to what Evan Buckley brings to the table for the Diaz family. Eddie spent the entire episode searching for very specific advice regarding Christopher, advice he wouldn't know until he heard it, and for that matter of the three people who offered advice about Christopher, Buck was the only person Eddie actually requested it from. I don't fault Carla because she needed to say what she said, but it was still mostly unsolicited. We won't even talk about Ana and her fundamentally incorrect assumptions about Christopher's needs. But we see Eddie seeking out Buck's opinion and support, and just . . . holy cow. We know how it ends, too.

Ana and Buck just aren't even on the same level, they never have been, and I don't think anybody could be. And I think by the end of season 4, Eddie is finally starting to realize this, too.

Let’s talk (for the thousandth time...yes I know) about Honcon 2017, specifically the part where Jared fails (and then immediately fails again) to censor himself both verbally and physically in leu of Jensen talking about going in the hole 😏-

Jensen: “I went in [the hole] pretty quick-”

Jared (instantaneously starts visualizing Jensen going in his hole, let’s be real): “-you always do!”

Jared’s ‘I just said like out loud??’ body-language ironically played a huge role in making this moment so significant and noticeable, whereas just the comment on its own (minus the reactions of both Js, we’re getting to Jensen’s part) might have been remembered as just another dirty J2-ism among a trillion other dirty J2-isms (which, hey...is already pretty fucking great).

Hah. No need to crawl back into any tinhatting holes, Anon! We’re all a bit tinhatty here lately, I would say. It’s really quite extraordinary just how blatantly smug/cocky Michael looks in those pictures...

Obviously, we have no way to know if a kiss actually took place, but Michael absolutely looks like the cat who got the cream here. I mentioned in my response to another anon my theory about what Michael and David could have gotten up to inside the Hippodrome in between takes, and I’ll be darned if the idea for a fully-fledged fic about them snogging isn’t already forming in my head.

I just...what did you do, Michael? And how can you look so devious dressed as an adorable angel? I always tend to think of David as being the one who can look so innocent while being completely filthy underneath, but Michael certainly gives him a run for his money. But while David can more readily maintain the façade and some sort of professional comportment regarding whatever it is that happened, Michael just gives no fucks. I love that for him, I really do...even if it’s bound and determined to drive us all a bit crazy.

And if Michael has (as I suspect) kissed David plenty of times before now, what is it about this that has made him so smugly smug?  I wonder, perhaps, if it could be the thought of kissing David publicly, of it being immortalized on film for everyone to see. Or, conversely...knowing what he did that he wasn’t supposed to, and it ended up on camera anyway. For instance, I can imagine a kiss being in the script, but strictly defined as not having any tongue...and Michael willfully and defiantly slipping his tongue into David’s mouth, ever so discreetly...just barely enough to register on film, but more than enough to know he did it. Oh, yes...

So many theories. All speculation, of course, but it will be very interesting to see what footage makes it into the final cut and onto our screens...and what is left to the imagination. Thanks for writing in, Anon! x
