lmao i'm going to have to change so many things in my mods when the expansion releases. like they are currently "make getting to the rocket slightly more complicated" which is fine for vanilla since megabasing isn't very interesting imo. but if you have to build a rocket factory and a mall on every planet you go to then making you build everything 5 times for a full playthrough is probably too much hassle.
I also do not terribly want to define masses of all items because the size of some items is "magic." i.e. you need one flywheel for gyroscopes which are a fairly expensive midgame intermediate despite representing a fairly small doodad, but e.g. gun turrets and mining drills also need a single flywheel and in those recipes the same item is clearly representing a much bigger object, because it wasn't really worth anyone's time to have separate items representing different sizes of flywheels. it's probably mostly fine? i don't know how the auto mass calculation is going to work with multiple recipes though. much like how all the quality apologia has shown the same simple loops as if they aren't a) boring to do for everything and 2) break down entirely for more complex recipes, this feels like a level of detachment from what mods actually exist and what kinds of complexity people like. like they keep going on about how great the mod community is and how things will be usable by modders but then design shit that needs seven layers of hardcoding to avoid allowing transmutation.
i also really fucking hate how they are shoving mentions of quality into everything, it is such a dumb bad stupid mechanic and i wish the discussion around quality was not about everyone giving their own idea for a new naming scheme as though nobody had given a suggestion for new names of the quality levels before.
like, i do not want the option of quality. i don't like the mechanic! there's one solution to it that you need to implement for EVERY. SINGLE. MALL. ITEM. that's tedious! how is nobody else seeing how tedious that is!
i'm fine with having to send up more rockets and i'm also fine with indulging some of the tier-porn tendencies i normally dislike, because the game is longer and that justifies more strict-upgrade progression. i don't like the idea of quality sitting there tempting me because i know it will make the bottlenecks easier but ruin the doing-anything-other-than-paint-by-numbers-nothing, like using requester chests for everything.
but then again i'm the only person who likes belt malls so maybe i am the moron here.

You reblogged that starter list and before I even saw your message, this one SCREAMED Din to me:
ā› if i could be a different person, i promise you, i would be.
Tumblr media
character: Din Djarin (The Mandalorian)
prompt: "If I could be a different person, I promise you, I would be."
main masterlistĀ ā€¢Ā prompt masterlist

You looked up at the expanse of stars overhead and let out a soft breath. The slight sting of the night's chilled air nipped at your nose, but the way it filtered through your lungs felt relieving. This was the open air; it was much more freeing than the ship you had started to feel trapped within.
It was that ship's boarding ramp you were sitting on, and as you took a quick glance over your shoulder, you saw its owner watching you from within the cargo hold with a worried tilt to his silver helmet. Having been caught in the act, his armored chest rose and fell in a breath as he started to walk towards you. Your gaze returned to the sky above as you sensed his approach.
"I thought you were charting another course," you said as Din took his place alongside you. "We can't spend too much time here."
Din shrugged in your periphery. "An extra rotation won't hurt."
Your head snapped towards him as your lips parted in disbelief. "A rotation?"
Din's visor was stuck on the stars, but after a moment of you staring, he returned your disbelieving glance. "What?"
You chuckled and shook your head, returning your attention to the night sky. You closed your eyes as your heart began to beat more rapidly. The question you wanted to ask screamed within your mind, but it came out as a mere whisper. "Why?"
There was a pause before Din responded. "Why what?"
You reopened your eyes and kept them on the stars. Looking at Din would make you lose your resolve. "Why are you bending your rules?"
When Din remained silent for a long moment, you quickly glanced over at him. His visor was fixed on his gloved hands as he picked the orange-colored material on his fingertips. "We can afford the time, for now." When he continued, his modulated voice was even lower than before. "And you're happy here."
You furrowed your brow at him. "I'm happy regardless."
Din gave his helmet a brief tilt. "Sure. But..." he paused, as if musing upon something, "not like you are on planets like this one."
You didn't know what to say to that. The sweet inhale of the crisp air you took was enough to prove his words true. As you continued to stare somewhat dumbfounded at Din, he added more.
"You don't like being on the ship."
You instantly shook your head and willed the words to come, but they wouldn't. Your throat had closed up around your wildly beating heart as the truths you tied to each atrium and ventricle came closer and closer to freeing themselves.
Din took your silence as a much more disappointing reality. Even his modulator couldn't hide his hurt. "You don't like being with me."
"No." You couldn't have gotten the word out faster if you'd tried. "That's not true."
"It's okay. I understand." Din's arm rested upon his propped-up knee as he looked at the stars yet again. You watched his visor reflect them with fond admiration. "My lifestyle isn't meant to keep people around for long." He nodded, as if he was still convincing himself of such a truth. "I've grown used to it."
His words, a genuine and honest reflection of himself, shattered your heart enough to let the shards escape through the barrier your throat had attempted to create. Each beautiful truth began to spill out in a stained glass mosaic of the image you had crafted over the past few months. "Yet I'm still here."
That caught Din's attention. His visor found your gaze as you pieced your art together.
"I've felt trapped, yes, but not by you or your ship." You exhaled and watched your hand as you set it on the metal of the ramp beside you. It was just inches from Din's own. "It's a feeling. One that consumes me, really. And while it's centered on you, it's not because of you that I feel so trapped. That's only because I know the truth. I know your guard has to stay up."
You huffed and shook your head at yourself.
"It sounds ridiculous to say out loud, honestly, but... you deserve to know." The corners of your mouth pulled up in a sad smile. "Even if there's nothing you can do about it."
Din's visor never left you as he sat in the heavy silence that followed. Eventually, his visor lowered, his focus moving to his gloved hand as it closed the distance to your own. Only part of his hand covered yours on the boarding ramp as he spoke in the most beautifully honest tone you had ever heard from him. "If I could be a different person, I promise you, I would be."
You shook your head, your gaze also fixed on your hands as you did so. "If you were any different, you wouldn't be the person I've grown such feelings for."
You were delicate in the way you laced your fingers through his, allowing him to pull away at any point if he so wished. He made no such move, instead letting his armored chest rise and fall in a careful breath as your hands became fully entwined. After a few more quiet moments, he spoke up once again. "I can learn."
You looked back up at his visor and hoped your expression wasn't betraying your strong glimmer of hope. Din offered a determined nod.
"I will learn."
Your smile couldn't be stopped as you looked upon him much more favorably than you ever had the stars. "Yeah?"
Din nodded once more, resting your entwined hands on his armored thigh. "Yeah."

Medkit x reader [An Arrow To The Knee]
š“† š“†Ÿ š“†ž š“†
How has he became such a fool?
They say that love has this blessing that drive you mad. Medkit used to think that itā€™s such an exaggerated vision of those lovesick idiots that have nothing better to do, but now he can definitely be certain that he had become one of the said fools the very moment he fell for you. Sometimes Medkit can only curse his heart for not just turn into rock or something, because him and love? Itā€™s not the prettiest combination, at least he thought so
But then you slowly make your way into his life. Since when did he start to realize that he was yearning for your company each time you part ways with him then bid him a smiling ā€˜See you soonā€™? Medkit doesnā€™t know. There isnā€™t any logical expansion for love, what a pity. That little feeling of a bunch of butterflies doing backflips inside his stomach whenever he is near you is so frustrating, yet itā€™s you. He canā€™t push you away
Or he did a few times, but youā€™re just too stubborn to even accept that mere defeat
The moment the confession finally lifts up the unspoken tension weighs in his heart, Medkit feels like he is finally able to breathe under the light of his true feelings around you. Sure, it takes time. A lots of time and patience for him to warm up to your presence as someone close to his life. Because he is like a cat rescued by you, and they need quite a while to adapt, no? Rest assured, now that the two of you belong together, there is nothing else to worry about
Mekdit used to state that he was afraid of commitment because he couldnā€™t foresee what the future had to offer, whether itā€™s a melancholic tragedy or the fulfilling happy ending he had been chasing after. And you are a part of that little play he takes up on the stage as well ā€” Or in another word, a play of his life ā€” which means he doesnā€™t know what role will fate gives you in the future. All those years, he has relied solely on his sense of survival to make his decision. He just doesnā€™t want to lose it all again
He trusts his intuition, he really does. Yet somehow when the matter involves you, he canā€™t help but going back and forth. One wrong decision and this action will have consequences on both of your lives. Hell, he is even on the run right now, who knows how long will he be able to keep himself out of that death sentence of Blackrockā€™s government and the endless madness of the Cult? He loves you, and he only wants what is best for the two of you
When he first got into this relationship with you, he was a bit uneasy. He has actually mentally braced himself if anything happens, but to his surprise, you shower him with affection of his preference, he feels like his heart is beating again lively. He feels loved around you, and he loves you. There is this specific idea that keeps bugging him from times to times after years of being together with you. Will that be too sudden? Or what if it isnā€™t what you want? Medkit is still as ever, prefers to figure things by himself to not bother anyone else. However, as time flies, he can finally understand what to do. For once, let him gamble his life on his own as he throws the given script given by fate away
He is already the leas actor of his life, might as well starts to become the co-director of his choices at this point
ā€œCareful,ā€ he coos, holding onto your hand while you close your eyes, ā€œDonā€™t trip on your feet, take it easyā€
ā€œMy, a surprise for me? I can feel the slight salty breeze, dare I might say itā€™s the beach?ā€
ā€œLucky that you even remember my words when I urged you to take a coatā€
Your chuckle eases the bubbling worries deep inside his chest. Yes, he did take you to the beach in the crack of dawn, but the sun isnā€™t coming out just yet. Lucky for you that demon doesnā€™t necessarily need to sleep, or else you will probably sleepwalk your way here with him. It sounds clearer now, the steady waves hit the shore rhythmically. As the wind kisses your face, you can even smell the sea water in the chilly night. It feels peaceful, but a bit cold of course. Thankfully Medkit insists that you should bring a coat along. Your boyfriend is always such a worrisome guy, but you still love that about him
ā€œWeā€™re here. Cā€™mon, open up your eyesā€
The sun gently perks up from the sea the very moment you do as he told. The golden rays caress your face, blesses you with the dawn of a new day. Its reflection is almost glistening on the surface of the sea, the sight is almost surreal. While you are still in awe of the serene landscape, Medkit still keeps his hands in the pockets of his coat, occasionally fidgeting with the object inside it anxiously. But he canā€™t really back off now, can he? Medkit takes a deep breath, rehearsing his own lines which he had to write it over and over again until reaching the perfect conclusion
He calls out your name, watches you carefully as you look over to him. You can tell that his expression has softened greatly
ā€œI have something important that I want to tell youā€
ā€œTell me then,ā€ you smile, ā€œIs there something on your mind?ā€
ā€œAll those times you have stayed by my side, I have to admit that I have grown soft. Years have passed, and I just want you to know that you mean a lots to me. The thought of the future can be scary, but when I imagine you standing at the end of the tunnel, my heart canā€™t help it but feelsā€¦calm. And even if Iā€™m afraid of going forward, at least I know that I can rely on you to keep me on my toes. And I, truly, want you to accompany me on this path of the futureā€
Before you can process his words properly, Medkit gets down on one knee as he finally pull the thing that he keeps fidgeting with inside his pocket: A velvet box - a typical choice to store a ring inside. Wait, hold onā€”
ā€œI want to stay by your side, to grow old with you and to live for a tomorrow worth dying for. Not just to survive anymore, I want to live. And I wish to spend my life with you until my last breath. I promise that I will take care of you with all I have got, soā€¦,ā€ the box is opened, revealing the sleeping beauty of a golden ring lying inside, ā€œWill you marry me?ā€
Your brain stops functioning for a good moment there. Is this a dream? You arenā€™t sleepwalking, right? Your hands tremble slightly with joy as you acknowledge this is reality, that oh so bright smile can be helped but appear on your face. You feel like crying, but that overwhelming satisfaction of happiness is conflicted with it. What a reaction you are having at the moment, he thinks. Before Medkit knows it, you already flung yourself into him with your arms around his body. He almost falls backwards into the sand in surprise there, mind you. But he canā€™t bring himself to be annoyed at that fact, not when you are this overjoyed
All those time you thought you will be the one that purpose to him first, guess that he really catches you by surprise in the best way possible, huh?
ā€œYes! A hundred times yes,ā€ you exclaim, ā€œI will and I do, how can I not?ā€
That answer does more than just satisfy him. That simple word feels like an elixir to put all his worries at bay, especially with you in his embrace like this. One hand holding the ring box, the other wrapping around your waist to pull you closer. Medkit let out of a relaxed sigh as he takes in your senses. The shore is all for the two of you, so there is no one around to judge or anything. But even if they do, you simply donā€™t give a damn
ā€œI love you too,ā€ he murmurs, ā€œForeverā€
š“† š“†Ÿ š“†ž š“†

Ok so we get this
Tumblr media
and this
Tumblr media
And I proceed to spiral about colour theory and costume theory and end up writing and expansion to this post I made about Buck in yellow ochre!!! Sorry y'all, you know what that means - my unhinged colour theory and costume meta's are Back!!!
Lets start by revisiting all of Bucks previous yellow ochre wearing shenanigans!
Tumblr media
3x06 the yellow ochre sweater he wears when he gets sent home by Bobby - this does after we see Buck and Eddie making up with each other - a moment when we see Buck learning more about himself and growing (read becoming less self-centred and understanding the concept of being part of a team and recognising that he needs to be better about stepping in with Eddie!)
Tumblr media
4x02 - Yellow ochre jumper - first in a video chat with Maddie, Chim and Albert, but then more importantly, when he is in his therapy session with dr Copeland - the whole ā€˜I hide my true feelings from othersā€™ moment - yet another moment of Buck recognising something about himself. I think this is the most key scene in Bucks yellow ochre wearing - more on that in a bit.
Tumblr media
4x03 Bucks yellow ochre t-shirt - a t-shirt that matches the shade of the jumper from above, and a moment when Buck confesses to Maddie that heā€™s in therapy - about being sad and lonely and wanting to be ā€˜finerā€™Ā
Tumblr media
4x04 - the yellow knit sweater from 3x06 is back (yes it is the same sweater) and this is when Buck has his entire life upended and he finds out about Daniel (kicking us into Buck begins)
Tumblr media
4x11 - Buck talks to Maddie and Josh about Sueā€™s hit and run, then talks to Taylor about Sue. This one is a much brighter yellow than the ochres weā€™ve seen up to now, but Iā€™m including it because I think its relevant to Bucks arc here (also because it connects into the next time we see Buck wearing yellow - the will scene) the concept of being hit with information that leads to Bucks growth and the nature of most hit and runs not being solved, the perpetrator never being caught and therefore not getting closure on something (this is super relevant I promise!)
Tumblr media
Then we have 4x14 and two yellow ochre tops - the first is the sweater, this one is trending more towards orange brown, but its still in the ochre wheelhouse! this oe is all about communication - mostly at Buck - Taylor telling him how stupid he was for climbing the crane, receiving a phonemail from Ana to tell him Eddie is awake, facilitating communication between Eddie and Chris and then Buck communication himself - thinking it wouldā€™ve been better if he had been shot. Directly communicating to the audience (as much as Eddie) the inner monologue of Bucks own opinion of the point of his existence.
Tumblr media
Then we get the beloved will scene and Buck wearing a yellow ochre shirt, still lighter than the other yellow ochre weā€™d seen up to this point, with the exception of the previous one which is brighter still. again this is mostly about people communicating at Buck rather than him being the communicator - much like with the previous Jumper. It somewhat plays into the concept of Buck being a passive part of his life rather than actively living it - Kinda hard to explain at this point without the context of the costumes from s5&6. I also want to point out Taylor is in that dark green again here - in the scene when Buck opens the door to the Diaz house.
Tumblr media
5x03 gives us Buck in that same shade of yellow ochre (bear in mind we havenā€™t seen him in any other colour between the will reveal and this scene (beyond uniform!) and here we have Buck pushing Eddie and communicating without actually giving much of himself away - yes he uses himself as an example, but he doesnā€™t actually open up about himself all that much (this is important - its not the time for that and it provides space for Buck to continue his internal monologue about his self worth) after this he goes home to his loft and we get him communication to a Taylor who isnā€™t actually present in the space - a symbolic scene that shows that he gets just as much from her absence as her presence (a play on the idea that Buck can communicate better with her when she isnā€™t actually present compared with when she is - its a juxtaposition of the scene from earlier when they were in bed together and she didnā€™t listen to anything he was saying, or his wants/needs)
Tumblr media
5x04 a scene at the Buckley-Han apartment where Buck isnā€™t communicating with Chim - Chim is very much communication with Buck about his despair over Maddie leaving - Buck obviously knows where Maddie is at this point, but he diocesanā€™t take the opportunity to communicate effectively with Chim. so This is yet another example of Buck failing to communicate, while some one around him is clearly communicating and this scene has the addition of secrecy thrown into the mix.
Tumblr media
Then we have 5x14 - this one is a bit less obvious - its the yellow ochre and black plaid jacket - its an outlier in that its not solid yellow ochre, but it is again a scene where we get communication - this time BUck is actually the one to do some communicating, but like pretty much always, we donā€™t get him pushing too much and we see him continuing to deflect from making things about himself - heā€™s desperate to talk about the shooting and its impact on him, but Eddie resists and Buck backs off. the check here is a nice addition because it shows the concept of cross purposes, but also there is less yellow than in other outfits - the black seems to be ā€˜devouringā€™ the yellow - almost like a play on the idea that this was Bucks one big chance to communicate, but he doesnā€™t take it.
Tumblr media
That is the last time we see Buck wearing yellow ochre until the end of season 6 - 6x15 and his date with Natalia to be precise! weā€™re back to that same shade of yellow ochre and once again we have Buck communicating - but its very much playing into what Natalia what to hear. I donā€™t doubt that BUck wants to talk about his death and resurrection, but we donā€™t actually see the conversation beyond the superficial overtures Buck makes. This plays into the suggestion that its about him trying to impress Natalia rather than actually about what Buck needs or wants to say. Its once again Buck communicating without actually communicating. something Eddie picks up on in the later graveyard scene and tries to provide the space for him to open up - which Buck doesnā€™t take.
Tumblr media
The theme continues with the the next Buck/Natalia date in 6x17 - yellow ochre once again, this time an open shirt - again its that same shade, and we see a continuation of the Buck communicate via deflection technique he employs - this scene, like his previous date with Natalia, is more about her and the writers showing us her hang ups/ insecurities than it is about Bucks - beyond showing us that they arenā€™t actually all that compatible - its kind of framed in the same way as his previous relationships (especially Taylor) - Buck playing into what he thinks someone wants him to be rather than being who he actually is.Ā
This concept is something we see in pretty much all of the previous scenes where Buck is wearing Yellow ochre, this desire to be what people need him to be rather than who he actually is. there are a couple of exceptions - the first time we see Buck in yellow ochre is probably the only instance where we see Buck being somewhat honest with himself - there is an element of him playing the role he needs to to win back Eddies friendship, but I think its coming from a genuine place and is born out of a real desire to be better - he really did learn his lesson. The fact that the next time we see the yellow ochre used is in his therapy session scene where he literally states that he hides his true feelings from others is a big giant yellow ochre flag waving around telling us that when we see Buck in yellow ochre he will be playing into that idea - and thatā€™s then how it transpires in every subsequent scene where he is in yellow ochre.
Which brings me to this new still
Tumblr media
no one can tell me there isnā€™t an air of conflict about that scene - the dark cool tone of the image suggests a coolness to the room - that idea of the cold shoulder or the temperature dropping when there is conflict between two people. their body language is alsoĀ adding to that vibe - Chris turned in on himself, not sat with Buck, the space between them.
Whatever this scene transpires being about, based on what we've seen with Buck wearing yellow ochre, we can assume its going to continue to play into this idea of Buck not being fully truthful with people and fitting into the role he thinks people want him to pay rather than being true to himself.
I do want to add to this theory by looking at Christophers shirt as well. The grey/ yellow combination is a bit reminiscent of Breaking point (the episode that really is the gift that keeps on giving) becasue we get Chris in grey and Eddie in tan - that is yellowish toned whilst not actually being yellow
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There isn't a good screenshot of them together, but the placing of Chris and Buck in the new one has echoes of Eddie and Chris in that scene (one that is interestingly enough playing into the idea of changing family dynamics, but also the moment before and the one that happens afterwards at Bucks loft, directly placing Buck into a parental role (as an aside the idea of Buck being a miracle worker plays into the theme of Eddie looking for magic, just saying!))
Anyone want to play a game of whose shirt does this look like??!!!
Tumblr media
Oh you do! well what if I leave these two pictures just here...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
yes, yes that is a Chris sized version of that shirt - you know the one Buck was wearing when he and Taylor talked about complicated family dynamics and about telling 'other peoples stories because I hate telling my own' you know that scene about playing a part and not being yourself around people you're supposedly close to! Yes That scene - or how about the scene which happens to be the last time we saw Buck in Chris's bedroom, where Buck talks to Eddie about complicated family dynamics, about needing to have the right outfit on for the occasion, the scene where they talk about retirement, oil and Buck is playing with a dinosaur! yeah see where I'm going with this! Chris wearing a grey shirt that similar to Bucks is Paralleling those scenes - so playing into the idea of history or of thing being outdated and needing to change, of dressing for the occasion (an allegory for playing a role - to fit in to whatever environment you're in rather than being your true self) and most importantly of complicated family dynamics - suggesting that there may have been some change in the dyamics - perhaps this will play into the will (also colour paralleling the will scene as Buck is in yellow ochre and the breaking point scene with Eddie in a yellowish colour and Chris in grey) and perhaps Chris discovering Buck would be his guardian in the event Eddie isn't around. I mean we'll have to wait and see for the actual context, but I will eat my hat if the season 7 scene isn't playing into Buckley-Diaz family dynamics in some way!
Back to this still
Tumblr media
I keep flip flopping on if its Buck or Bobby, but right now the lack of grey hair is making me lean towards it being Buck.
This is a still of the back of Bucks head from his coma dream for comparison (blurry as hell as he's not in focus but it looks enought like the same shape of hairline and of Olivers ear for me to feel like its more Buck than Bobby!
Tumblr media
I think the shirt is what is throwing me off though because its just so not a typical Buck shirt (excepting coma dream Bucks!).
I've gone back through my notes and I just can't find any examples of Buck wearing this kind of patterning or shirt before, the closest we get is that hideous shirt he is wearing at the hospital after Kameron has given birth
Tumblr media
The only thing I can do is scream into the void about check theory because check does't bode well for people - they always end up in the middle of the drama (see my check theory posts linked on my pinned post for more) and while they come out the other side (99% of the time) Buck in check for that scene in 6x18 pretty much doomed his relationship with Natalia (its specific to her and not C&K's baby as Buck wasn't wearing it when he delivered it!) and as that shirt in the still is very un Buck like, has not only yellow ochre in it, but also its a white base (and we all know buck in white is a bad sign!!) and its check patterned - my theory is that this scene is connected to Natalia in some way - either Buck is not being true to him self in more than one way - that things are going to/have come to a head for their relationship (my kingdom for a reverse of Buck to Eddie about Ana in 5x03!!!) and lead to a pretty big change in some way (fingers crossed for Buck to end it and then finally break down and deal with his trauma!!!)
Some other things about that shirt - I've brightened it up in the picture below - the colour combination - the green blue and yellow ochre are giving me call backs to coma Buck (another reason I think it might be connected to Bucks unresolved trauma around his death and Eddies absense in his dream)
Tumblr media
Then there is the burgundy stripe in combination with Eddies hand placement and the fact Eddie is wearing a denim shirt - its very Tsunami call back (even the white plays into this as well as Buck was in white when he saved Chris) -
Tumblr media
I'm quite probably clowning hard at this point, but the fact we've got Eddie in denim again (not something he wears all that often) in a scene where he puts his hand on Bucks shoulder in that way and with his Christopher watch so very prominent - we'll I might be feeling a certain way about it.
It would make sense to play into that story arc - after all - the opening of season 7 is very much centred around a big water based disaster - its got to bring up a few things for the two of them. If it is related, Eddies Denim being darker at this point would be a nice play on things - the idea that there is more deepness - more depth to his relationship with Buck than there was in early season 3 (it even calls back to flash back Eddie in 3x16 - he is wearing dark denim when him and Shannon fight and Chris wakes up)
Ok thats enough rambling from me! Hopefully i have made a tiny bit of sense! of to go back to screaming in the void now!!

WIP excerpt for @definitelynotaminion; Clark panic-adopts his teenage clones. Yes, including the supervillain one. ((Ā chronoĀ ||Ā non-chronoĀ ))
ā€œI know. But you didnā€™t meet them because I introduced you to them,ā€ Superman says, soundingā€“strange, somehow. Bothered, almost. Match has gone so far past not understanding this man that he might just give up on the idea entirely, and frankly the fact he hasnā€™t yet is beginning to look like a waste of mental resources.Ā
Thirteen just keeps looking uncomfortable, either way. Upset, maybe, but not in the way Match is used to seeing him upset. Normally Thirteenā€™s angry, when Match sees him. Normally Match is making Thirteen angry when he sees him. The expression the otherā€™s wearing right now reminds him more of the first time theyā€™d met than that, though. The first time theyā€™d met, and the things that Thirteen had said to him, and the things Thirteen had said to Spence and the directors because of him.Ā
( orā€“FOR him, maybe. )
Those things had all been absolutely clueless and incredibly stupid and straight-up naive and a total waste of everyone in the conversationā€™s time on top of that, and Match never thinks about a single one of them.Ā
He knows better.Ā
ā€œI mean, I know that? Like, obviously I know that. But I donā€™t get what itā€™s got to do with all this shit, man,ā€ Thirteen says, gesturing expansively but directionlessly around them and looking increasingly frustrated. Match isnā€™t sure why the idiotā€™s still this close to him, if not actually outright behind him anymore. At this point itā€™s more like heā€™s just next to him. He supposes that makes it easier for Superman to give them their orders simultaneously, though he has a hard time believing Thirteen wouldā€™ve thought to do something even remotely practical.Ā
. . . though Superman doesnā€™t give Thirteen orders, really. At least, he never did when he was talking to Match and didnā€™t know the difference. He didnā€™t talk to him all that much, though, so itā€™s not like Match can really say itā€™s a particularly large sample size heā€™s basing that observation off.Ā
Though probably percentage-wise it is, considering.Ā
ā€œBecause you should have,ā€ Superman says. ā€œI should have brought you here a long time ago, in fact.ā€Ā
ā€œSuperboy hasnā€™t even existed for ā€˜a long timeā€™,ā€ Match says in exasperation, which is probably stupid to say, butā€“itā€™s irritating. Thatā€™s all. Superman just keeps saying total fucking nonsense combinations of words in vague approximations of logical statements and expecting them to understand what he means, and itā€™s notā€“if itā€™s a test, itā€™s not one with clear parameters or useful metrics. Itā€™s not objective.Ā

Some sick!reader + Ellie headcanons I've been thinking about for you Ani <3
ā€¢ You aren't too sure if it's a coincidence or Ellie is really just That girlfriend, but when you're feeling unwell, all her plans get cancelled out of the blue for her to lay on the bed next to you on her phone quietly glancing towards you from time to time to make sure you're happily enjoying the drink she fixed for you.
ā€¢ She also goes above and beyond to distract you from the pain,- physical or mental; and probably talks to you to a point where you have to attack her with kisses all over her face for her to stop infodumping for a second and just enjoy the show y'all are watching
ā€¢ Back rubs.. belly rubs.. arm caresses.. temple kisses.. small pecks.. knuckle kisses.. and boob holding for comfort??? Ellie-
ā€¢ If you start to feel better by the evening, she tells you not to frown about the missed date and hand crafts a blanket fort "Girls night" as she likes to ironically call it and laugh about it(I'm a sucker for Ellie being traditionally girly dont look at me) She basically makes you watch old movies, does your hair and lets you paint her nails.
you donā€™t understand how happy this ask made me like omg. 18+ only due to suggestive content under the cut! expansion below (also featuring a couple of sneaky ai audios right at the endā€¦) cw for vomit.
this is so cute iā€™m gonna cry you just understand all my daydreams!!! sheā€™s so gf i love herā€¦ btw itā€™s canon that cups of watery, kind of awful tea ABOUND in your household when youā€™re sick and you donā€™t have the heart to tell ellie theyā€™re bad. sheā€™s looking at you and prompting you with her eyes to take a sip and you have to conceal your wince as you do it. ā€œitā€™s good tea, right? dunno if i left the teabag in for long enoughā€¦ google said two minutes. was that right? itā€™s good, right???ā€ you wait for her to stop but she just keeps rambling and you feel so bad for her that you just have to nod along and swallow down the tea šŸ˜šŸ˜
the infodumpingā€¦ god, the infodumping. youā€™re just trying to focus on a show through your thumping headache as ellie drones ā€œhonestly, i think taissa did do it to allie on purpose, even if she doesnā€™t realise it-ā€ until it gets to the point where you thwack her with a pillow and she pouts at you before pecking your forehead with her lips and snuggling down next to you.
also i see your boob holding and raise you tit suckingā€¦ because yes youā€™re sick but, well, ellieā€™s still ellie, and so of course she still wants to do horny things. sheā€™d spring it on you right as youā€™re waking up from your mid morning nap, eyes all soft as she looks down at you all curled up in the little cosy nest of blankets she meticulously arranged for you.
ā€œhey baby. you just wake up? i can make you another cup of tea if you want,ā€ ellie offers happily. she must see the slightly apprehensive look on your face because her eyebrow crooks up as she continues: ā€œor, wellā€¦ i was thinkingā€¦ what if i, like, sucked your tits? just a little? think it might help ease some of the achingā€¦ after all, my mouth is kinda magical, if i do say so myself.ā€ youā€™re unable to contain your splutter at the terrible joke. ellie grins and keeps pushing it. ā€œin fact, this might be a miracle cure!ā€ she says with all the drama of someone announcing they discovered a new planet in the solar system. ā€œyou might never get sick again!ā€ comes her next line, hands gesticulating wildly in the air as your chest begins shaking with unbridled giggles.
a fake depressive look turns your girlfriendā€™s lips down as she dramatically sweeps a hand across her forehead. ā€œokay, maybe thatā€™s a bit farā€¦ stop laughing at me. youā€™re gonna make yourself throw up again,ā€ she teases, except you both seem to realise at the same moment that her last statement was probably true. your eyes lock as ellie dives for the sick bucket and you do in fact puke, her calloused hands holding back your hair from your face <3
as for girlā€™s night- i feel like she would probably make you a little mocktail because even though youā€™re not well enough to be drinking, cranberry juice is really good for you and lemonade is almost one of your five a day if you really think about itā€¦ and ā€œmintā€™s basically a vegetable. like, itā€™s green enough, right?ā€ when youā€™re forced to take the opposing side on the is-mint-really-a-vegetable debate she acts like youā€™ve just hit her with a hammer and insists on calling jesse to settle the matter.
ā€œok, i need your help with a super important decision,ā€ ellie says, a stern expression on her face. the way her eyebrows are wrinkled in the middle looks extra cute, you think, and lean forward to kiss her. instead youā€™re met with a hand to the sternum and an angry glare. ā€œdamn. okay, important decision,ā€ you agree, eyes lifting to hers in curiosity. your girlfriend sucks in a deep breath and you brace yourselfā€¦ ā€œshould i paint my toenails green or pink?ā€ ellie asks innocently. you feel like thumping her- why do i ever take her seriously?? you think, heart slowing back to its normal pace as you throw her a dirty side eye.
ā€œwait, actuallyā€¦ that yellow looks kind of cool-ā€ you cut her off with a thump to the head with your pillow. ā€œOW!ā€ comes her pained response, your lips tilting up into a smug smile as ellie shoots you a look of pure betrayal. ā€œokā€¦ OK!ā€ THUMP! ā€œi get it! no yellowā€¦ā€ the pillow lifts again as if to drive your point home for a final time andā€¦ THUMP! ā€œow! fuck! wait, why is your pillow so fucking solid?ā€
+ as promised, the ai audiosā€¦ as i mentioned on my blog before, my bot isnā€™t anywhere near perfect yet so please excuse if these happen to sound a little funky!

Hello, I would like to ask you question about Kuai Liang in Mk1, Do you think of him as bad person? If yes, please tell me why?
Hi! I don't think Kuai Liang is a bad person, but he's no better than Bi-Han either. And I say this based on facts, on situations shown in the game (and other situations that will happen soon), not just on my personal opinion.
1st. He's a hypocrite and a liar
vimeo
vimeo
How can he demand something from her, that she should trust him blindly (since he hadn't even given an explanation for his departure), when he never trusted her in the first place? He's a hypocrite. And whoever makes excuses for him about this is either lying or didn't play the story mode, because besides Bi-Han being out cold, Tomas says that before they left the Lin Kuei, they asked them for help:
vimeo
When they took Bi-Han to the Lin Kuei and asked for help in the battle, why didn't he already explain everything to Cyrax? Because he didn't want to. So, he has no right to demand blind trust from her when he didn't even trust her to begin with, even though they clearly have a past (whether romantic or not, they have a history).
2nd. He is vengeful
Contrary to what many people have assumed about his desire to find Bi-Han, he doesn't want to find him because he fears for Bi-Han's life if he is found by Li Mei or whatever, what he really wants is to get revenge on Bi-Han for letting their father die. That's all he wants. He doesn't care about his brother. And this will become even clearer when the story mode expansion is available:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Saying that his brother deserves to die and refusing to help save him is something a vengeful person would do. A good person wouldn't do that.
"Ah, but Bi-Han let their father die and their father was a good manā€¦"
Bi-Han was a good brother to Kuai Liangā€¦
Tumblr media
and yet he is willing to let him die. How does that make Kuai Liang a better person than Bi-Han? When we don't even know why Bi-Han hates his father so much, we know why Kuai Liang hates his brother. And Kuai Liang's fans can say whatever they want, but all this hatred and desire for revenge is not something a good person would have. And let's not forget that he will be about to kill a person (cough cough, Cyrax) he has known for a long time who was deceived and was already subdued, all because HE IS a vengeful person.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
3rd. He is selfish
Bi-Han may be self-centered, but Kuai Liang is a selfish man with people-pleasing disorder no matter how you look at it.
All his attachment to traditions and his father's words are not a moral compass, they are just traits of dependence. He can't let his father go and understand that Bi-Han is the new leader by birthright, so he insists on trying to embarrass him by talking about what his father would supposedly want or what his father would do during the story mode and intros. He wants Bi-Han to be like his father. He refuses to see that Bi-Han is Bi-Han until his sandcastle crumbles at the Ying Fortress. He is not humble, he is dependent, a true people-pleaser. He was a people-pleaser to his father and now he is one to Liu Kang. He does not invite former gangsters like Kenshi and Takeda, a demon like Ashrah to be Shirai Ryu because he embraces diversity and differences, he simply needs numbers to rival his brother's clan, the Lin Kuei.
He only thinks about what he wants (to be what his father was), not what is best for the clan. Bi-Han's ambition for the clan, for their future, is not a bad thing or evil, their god himself recognizes this:
Tumblr media
But even before Bi-Han abandoned the defense of Earthrealm, he insisted on condemning his brother's desire to make the Lin Kuei evolve:
vimeo
Why?
Because he is selfish. He never cared about his brother or the Lin Kuei, he only cared about continuing to please his father even after dead and that's all that matters to him to this day, only now, he does it with Liu Kang.
And does that make him a bad person? No, I don't think so (he has his qualities, just like Bi-Han has his). But he's far from being a better person than Bi-Han as only his fans will claim he is.

Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns Review
Tumblr media
Let me just preface this post by saying Iā€™m still on the fence about sharing my thoughts. Like many, I am highly disappointed with the direction this DLC went. I would have never imagined this was in store for me last year during the summer when I first watched the Lin Kuei trailer. Khaos Reigns provoked two days of awful headaches followed by days of disillusion. Yes, NRS played me for a fool (thank god I did not purchase this). I gave them the benefit of the doubt, and it came to bite me in the ass. If I had a physical copy of the game, Iā€™d chuck it in the trash. Iā€™m finding it difficult to proceed forward which is hard because I like to see things through even if it sucks. All I can do is protect my vision of Bi-Han and staying true to the old lore as I try and move on.
That being said, to address my take on this expansion:
To begin, the elephant in the freaking room--Sektor and Cyrax.
I am a Lin Kuei fan overall. Not a big fan of him in general, but there has been appreciation for him and Cyrax throughout the years. When I learned that both were going to be genderbent, I had a little bit of misgivings suddenly changing things drastically. But, again, I gave NRS the benefit of the doubt. Since this is a new era, I was on board with it until the rumors started circulating about both being love interests for the brothers. I was like "That makes no sense whatsoever." To me, the Lin Kuei has always been like a brotherhood. In no given time, has there ever been any indication of personal relationships outside of camaraderie. For example, Cyrax and Smoke being vehemently upset over Bi-Han's death in MK9, and not just Kuai Liang.
The argument can be constantly made that this is a new timeline, and it's Liu Kang's creation over and over. But, when you have that man (Dominic) constantly saying the timelines are canon, but not really. But, still are. It's incredibly hard to take anything seriously right now especially with the constant flip flopping that man does for the sake of the current script. Which is another point, but back to the bastardization of our two Lin Kuei girls.
I wanted to believe in a strong, female Sektor, who has her own ideals which we can all clearly see. Like her past iterations, she lives, breathes, and bleeds Lin Kuei. I wanted to see a Sektor who slowly, but surely descended into her own madness of corruption as she pursued her goals for the Cyber Initiative. Sektor has always been known for his technological genius, and she would be no different. To see her potential constantly get staunched for her adulation and obsession for Bi-Han was hard to witness. I can understand that this may be a flaw for her, but it is a very shitty flaw. Because this one trait absolutely negates everything she stands for. I can see that both she and Bi-Han use each other to a certain extent where it seems fit. I know her horrible romance is the center of focus right now, but if you listen to her intros with Bi-Han, it seems to be all business between them. There is barely any indication that their relationship goes beyond the realm of the clan and into a personal tryst. Sektor calls it love, but it's not quite there. I mean, there's love for the grandmaster, but the love that seems to be implied between the two is not quite there. At least, in my view.
I don't know about Sektor yet, but I already deduced that Bi-Han isn't someone who's desperate to correct anyone on the spot. He doesn't have to. He doesn't owe anyone an explanation, so of course he runs with whatever people say about him. He's unbothered by anyone's opinions of him. When Kuai Liang told Cyrax the truth about Bi-Han letting their father die, Bi-Han could have stepped in at any given moment and contradicted Kuai Liang. Instead, he chose to own every word Kuai said. I've had this feeling since the end of the base campaign that Kuai Liang simply took pieces of what Bi-Han said, and spun them to fit his own narrative. (Killing your father and letting him die because of an accident are two completely different things.)
Anyways, going back to Sektor, that scene where Bi-Han's mind was being restored seems to be the only shoehorned indication that there is more to them than meets the eye. But, again, it was badly placed, badly presented as well. First of all, Sektor really should not have been there in that room at all. From a storytelling perspective, I'm supposed to believe that both Sektor and Bi-Han have this obsessive romance and codependency between each other in a few seconds of frames, than the brotherhood between Bi-Han, Kuai Liang, and Tomas??? And this was my worst fear for Bi-Han too. I did not want him to be "saved" by romance. I wanted his salvation to come from within himself as he reflected on his poor decisions and the tragedy of his downfall which sadly we were robbed and negated from. If the scene only involved Liu Kang, Bi-Han, and Kuai Liang, it would have been more poignant. There has always been that story between the two brothers. I understand, this is not the same Kuai of two timelines ago. But, why is MK: Onslaught's ScorpKuai a lot more wholesome than our MK1 iteration??? He was absolutely horrified meeting MK11 Noob. He couldn't understand why Bi-Han became Noob (and how). But, Kuai's first instinct in the DLC is to be absolutely pissed and disgusted? "Your new attire suits you. It is as black as your heart." Darling, no. I would have been more pleased seeing Kuai approach the table and have this conflicting expression. The hatred can still be there, but the concern and sorrow for whom was once family to him, and his eldest brother needed to be portrayed. I mean, we sort of got it with the whole coffin scene at the end. But, in that scene, in that moment, that more than Bi-Han reaching for Sektor and touching foreheads with her is a lot more powerful in terms of storytelling. I don't know why NRS is so against these two hashing it out and resolving their issues.
Now to Cyrax...oh my god...
According to Kuai Liang in the main story, Cyrax and Sektor were supposed to be absolutely loyal to Bi-Han and would abet his corruption than follow him. We obviously see that in Sektor, but what the hell happened to Cyrax? It leads me to believe that Dominic and others suddenly decided to change the script. Mind you, I firmly believe that they did so. Sektor and Cyrax being women in this game must've been a decision that came after everything was said and done for the base campaign. I'm a bit skeptical on Bi-Han suddenly turning on Cyrax because I do recall some time ago listening to some leaked audio in which Bi-Han says "Kuai Liang was supposed to give Cyrax back." It made me think "Oh shit. Does Cyrax get held hostage or something?" Like, what the hell happened? And, I'm realizing, are we missing dialogue now? There is so much that does not make sense!!! Why would they turn on her all of a sudden?!
She's supposed to be close to Bi-Han just as much as Sektor. And suddenly, Cyrax is presented as a free thinking individual who abides by her own ideals and tradition. The moment that is threatened, she feels like she can no longer follow Bi-Han and his ambitions. To make it worse, she feels so much remorse with Kuai Liang that she's ready to give up her life in penance to make up for it. It just makes no sense. And to make it worse, she spends the rest of the DLC following Kuai Liang like a little puppy ready to serve her new grandmaster. Why was she even presented as a strong individual when all she wants is Kuai Liang's adoration as well? Not to mention, it was a really gross line to include in the intros where Noob threatens to spill her relationship with Kuai Liang to Harumi. We're seriously cheapening these two women to typical high school romance tropes? Like others have expressed, this is fanfiction levels of madness.
Kuai Liang is all levels of messed up too. I am so sick and tired of him prancing around like he does no wrong, and everyone believes every word he says. Suddenly, he's the self appointed grand hero of the story when you have Liu Kang's champions sitting around and twiddling their thumbs? Why not place faith in them and send them with Kuai to resolve the current threat. I understand Kuai's Shirai Ryu is now the new protectors, but you also have these other people and beings who are preparing themselves as well for these upcoming threats. I hate that they just suddenly bled into the background, and disappeared completely. Somebody needs to not only knock Bi-Han but Kuai Liang as well a few pegs down. He too is not without his own flaws and they need to be addressed. And Liu Kang's line "Trust your wife. Avail yourself of her wisdom." The same thing with Sektor and Bi-Han. Here too. This fucking trope cannot be it. Love cannot only be the thing that saves the day. His anger, his vengeance, is no where near the levels of Hanzo. Hanzo legit had a reason to be like that. Kuai is literally throwing a bitch fit at Bi-Han, and pointing fingers anywhere but himself. Seriously, his anger and disgust against Cyrax was so unwarranted. And every time she was flustered and tried to explain, he barely gave her time to say a word. Always cutting her off, and rejecting her apologies until the end because it is implied Harumi stepped in. And he seems to just completely simmer down a bit in the presence of Noob. Where was the you who tried to take him on earlier in Chaosrealm? Suddenly, you don't feel like butting heads with your brother? Kuai Liang is such a hypocrite, and I'm tired of seeing it.
Liu Kang was also another that just got dragged through the mud. A lot of his words and actions did not make sense. He's content with disposing of Titan Shang Sung and Titan Quan Chi, but he won't let Bi-Han finish off Titan Havik because he isn't sure how he's tied to his timeline, and doesn't want to kill innocent lives? What about the timelines tied to the other two? Liu Kang had no problem ending those. Why is Titan Havik's timeline any different? Bi-Han is right. Why does that timeline matter when the most important one is theirs, Liu Kang's timeline? He tells Raiden and Kung Lao to do their best and pray they make it out alive, when Liu Kang could have better prepared them. Gets his ass handed to him, can't even go save Geras himself. Sends Kuai, Cyrax, and Sektor to Chaosrealm in blindly. And, snaps at Bi-Han for the most part towards the end instead of having a meaningful talk with him. Not just simply telling him "This is what you are meant to do. Defend Earthrealm." Well, geez, why not elaborate on that, Liu Kang? Can't you give Bi-Han a few minutes of your time to air out grievances and come to a consensus?
And what the hell happened to Titan Havik? Is he dead? Does he still live? Trapped in the void? The Kamidogu were briefly mentioned, and then dropped. They were hyped to be of importance in this DLC. I'm certain they'll make their return eventually if NRS continues the story involving Onaga when the time comes. But, Havik had plans for them as well. And we only see him fusing with the Kamidogu. That final fight with him felt pretty lackluster. Just a regular match like any other.
We are definitely missing script, and scenes. We were supposed to have gotten a whole lot more. Ed Boon said this was their project for the next few years. I suppose they felt compelled not just to omit certain things, but cut out others for future DLCs. This was setup to be more than what we got. The bar absolutely fell short of what the end product was. To charge full price is absolutely heinous. I'm sorry, but I do not have $50 on hand for each DLC that they plan to release. They charged full price for the main game, and now they plan to do so for every little story line that comes after? I can't in good conscious support this kind of marketing. I'm devastated with the story. Like, I could work and make sense and justify every decision made with the main story to a degree. I can't do the same with Khaos Reigns.
I know I was making gifs of Bi-Han last week, but after KR...my heart right now really isn't in MK1. Every time I come across posts and remotely start thinking about it, I get headaches. They are not as bad as they initially were, but this is how horribly this DLC affects me. It keeps giving me headaches. I know I probably regurgitated the same sentiments and ideas as many others have already. But, a friend told me it would be cathartic to do this. So, instead of my journal, I am here expunging these thoughts and emotions. I don't know what my future with the brand will entail, but godspeed NRS. I wish you well on your future endeavors, and that's really saying a lot on my end. I can't even hope anymore. They massacred my heart and left me to die just like papa Lin Kuei (I wish we had a name for him).

lost in japan
Tumblr media
loosely based on lost in japan by shawn mendes :D
being a soloist in the industry is a bit like riding a rollercoaster of emotions. while it brings creative freedom and a chance to shape your own journey, it comes with its share of loneliness. unlike being in a group, where you share every step of the journey, as a soloist, you navigate the entire process ā€“ from making albums, promotions, gigs, to tours and interviews ā€“ all by yourself. sure, you have your crew and team, your chosen family, but seeing groups together makes you a bit envious. they get to share the highs and lows, the crazy moments, and the struggles. it's a camaraderie you sometimes wanted.
but being a soloist has its perks. you get to pour your soul into your music, writing and producing most of your songs. music isn't just a job; it's a deeply personal expression. every note and lyric carries a piece of your story, every emotion, and experience that left a mark on your heart.
and then there's the subject of love.
in the vast expanse of the industry, finding love can be a challenge. all eyes are on you, not just in korea but globally, and being an idol only adds to the scrutiny. but that hasn't stopped idols from dating, and who can blame them? when love comes knocking, it's hard to resist.
for you, love arrived unexpectedly in the form of a blind date, set up by mutual connections. specifically, yeri from red velvet, who passed down the idea to nayeon from twice. and believe it or not, love turned out to be a member of the renowned girl group twice.
love felt like magic, and at this moment, love happened to be right beside you on the couch in the recording studio.
"baby, i'm gonna miss you like crazy," sana pouted.
"i know, baby, but it's only gonna be a few weeks, right?" you ask, trying to offer comfort.
"three weeks, yeah, but i hate being away from you," she replies, eyes still a bit teary.
turning to your girlfriend, you put down your guitar and scoot closer to sana. "i understand, baby. if i didn't have schedules lined up for the next few weeks, i'd come with you guys," you say, your voice carrying a tinge of sadness.
sana sighed in defeat and planted a playful kiss on your cheek. "you should write a song about me while i'm away," she teased.
you rolled your eyes. "they're all about you, i don't know what you're on about."
sana giggled, fully aware that it was true. despite this knowledge, hearing every new song you wrote about her never got old and it never failed to make her swoon. your love story held a special place in both your hearts, and having it immortalized in your music felt special. especially since the general public remained oblivious to the fact that the songs were about her or your relationship. it was like a secret world that only the two of you shared, untouched, and safe from the prying eyes of the public.
as much as sana wanted to shout about your love from the rooftops, she found solace in the fact that you both hadn't given anybody the power to take what you had away. having your close circle and family know felt like enough for now.
"i adore you so much, baby. i feel incredibly lucky," sana confessed, locking eyes with you.
"i love you, baby. we're both really lucky," you replied. "are you excited to be home and visit family?"
sana's eyes lit up. "yes! mom and dad wanted to see you, though. but yeah, it's been a while, so i'm excited."
the joy on her face brought warmth to your heart. "i'm excited for you, baby. send me lots of pictures, okay? and don't worry, i'll give you a call when you're together with your parents."
that night, you had to take sana and the rest of twice to the airport. well, technically, you were in the same car they were dropped off in, but you couldn't get off due to the swarm of reporters and fansites. now, that would be a headline.
you gave sana one last kiss and waved goodbye to tzuyu, dahyun, mina, and jihyo, who were sharing the same car.
"be safe, you guys," you said.
"we'll miss you, unnie!" tzuyu exclaimed, and the rest of the girls echoed her sentiment.
"i'll miss you the most, though," sana said sadly.
you reached for her hand and gave it a soft kiss. "i'll see you real soon, baby."
"y/n, you better pay me extra to keep sana from talking everyone's ears off about missing you this whole trip," jihyo joked, earning laughs from the group.
"bank transfer?" you suggested playfully.
"yah!" sana feigned annoyance.
"alright, alright, you guys go. the rest of the girls are already outside."
as the car door closed, you sighed. a busy week awaited you with recording sessions, and on top of that, you didn't have a girlfriend to come home to for the next few weeks. *+:ļ½”.ļ½”怀怀ļ½”.ļ½”:+*
a week drifted by, and there you were, sprawled out on the cushy couch in a hotel in taiwan, peering through the grand glass windows that framed the city's glowing lights. the sun descended gracefully, painting the sky with warm hues. you wished sana was there with you. memories flooded in ā€” of quiet evenings cocooned on the couch, watching anime after demanding days, and lively moments in the kitchen, dancing and singing together.
"it's cool. just two more weeks," you mumbled.
suddenly, a soft buzz broke the silence.
m.by__sana tagged you in a post
you tapped the notification, revealing snapshots from a dinner a week past, capturing the comically overcooked steak you had made.
ė‹¹ģ‹ ģ€ ģ—¬ģ „ķžˆ ģµœź³ ģž…ė‹ˆė‹¤, ģ…°ķ”„ė‹˜! ā™”Ā“ (you're still the best, chef! ā™”Ā“)
a gentle chuckle escaped you.
ė‹¹ģ‹ ģ€ ėÆøģ¹œ ė“Æģ“ ė‚˜ė„¼ ź·øė¦¬ģ›Œķ•˜ź³  ģžˆģ„ ź²ƒģž…ė‹ˆė‹¤, you playfully commented. (you must be missing me like crazy)
almost instantly, you got a reply.
ė‹¹ģ‹ ģ€ ėŖØė„“ź³  ģžˆģ–“ģš” (you have no idea)
you released a resigned sigh, well-acquainted with the sacrifices that came with being idols. both of you knew the drill ā€” the inevitable stretches of separation that, despite understanding, never got easier.
you knew sana was currently holed up in her hotel with the other girls, having just gotten off a facetime call with her. it didn't make the distance any more bearable, and resisting the urge to fly over and be with her required more self-control than you cared to admit.
waitā€¦
with a swift move, you grabbed your phone and opened up the voice memo app. "na na na na, do you got plans tonight, baby? something something, lost in your paradise. the only thing iā€™m thinking ā€˜bout is you and i, i canā€™t get you off my mind," you sang, a mix of determination and confusion in your voice as you attempted to untangle the tune in your head. recording the snippets, you couldn't help but hope that this spontaneous burst could turn into something.
as a musician and songwriter, you know that when inspiration hits - seize it and craft it into art. luckily for you, sana was the kind of girl who could fuel a billion songs, and the thought of writing about her never got old.
fueled by the sudden inspiration, you reached for your guitar.
*+:ļ½”.ļ½”怀怀ļ½”.ļ½”:+*
"sana, you okay?" mina inquired, concern etching her features as she observed sana lost in thought, brows furrowed.
"she's fine. just being dramatic because y/n hasn't replied," nayeon chuckled, finding the situation amusing.
"you don't get it; she never takes this long to reply, even when we're both busy," sana whined, her frustration evident.
"unnie, isn't she in the middle of preparing for a comeback?" chaeyoung suggested. "maybe she's stuck in a meeting or recording something."
despite chaeyoung's rationality, sana's irritation persisted. she wasn't worried; she was just plain mad that you weren't responding.
the day dragged on with your replies limited to one-word responses, fueling sana's growing annoyance.
"who does she think she is?" sana slammed the door of her and momo's hotel room. "she didn't even pick up when i called her at my parents' house, and she specifically told me to!"
momo racked her brain, knowing sana's penchant for needing attention. she silently cursed you for leaving her with a moody sana.
"sana, it's okay. she'll eventually reply. i'm sure she has her reasons," momo sighed, offering a reassuring smile.
sana, across the room, sprinted to momo, shoving her phone in her friend's face. "what is this, then?"
momo squinted at your instagram story, revealing a tiktok of you and jennie doing a dance. momo silently cursed you again.
"uhh, scheduled post? maybe it's a new challenge," momo suggested, attempting to ease the tension.
sana rolled her eyes and threw her phone on the bed. "i don't care anymore."
"we can go out tonight, satang!" momo encouraged. "you'll get your mind off y/n."
sana shook her head defiantly. "i'm not going out! i'm staying in."
"nope, you can't," momo declared, standing up and joining sana. "you promised, remember?"
sana groaned. "fine, whatever, but i won't like it." *+:ļ½”.ļ½”怀怀ļ½”.ļ½”:+*
sana and the group entered mina's cousin's newly opened restaurant, exclusively reserved for the night. despite the collective effort to lighten sana's mood, she remained unusually gloomy, a stark contrast to her typically bubbly self.
"sana, you look ugly when youā€™re frowning," jeongyeon teased, eliciting laughter from the group. sana responded by sticking her tongue out playfully. just as sana was about to retaliate, their food arrived, and the delightful aroma of the ramen momentarily diverted her attention. she was clearly hungry.
the dinner unfolded with vibrant conversations about their promotions, and even sana couldn't resist breaking into a smile and sharing a few laughs. after finishing her ramen, sana reached for a napkin on the table and discovered something tucked underneath ā€” a small note?
do you have plans tonight?
suddenly, the lights dimmed, causing gasps from everyone. a soft strumming of a guitar filled the air.
"all it'd take is one flight,
we'd be in the same time zone."
sana could recognize that voice anywhere. her eyes shifted across the room, finding her girlfriend perched on a high stool with a guitar, singing just for her. sana could barely wrap her head around what was happening. she glanced at the girls, who were all smiling with their phones up.
as you sang, it dawned on sana what the song meant. her eyes widened as she listened.
ā€œdo you got plans tonight?
i'm a couple hundred miles from japan, and i
i was thinkin' i could fly to your hotel tonight
'cause i can't get you off my mind.ā€
you smiled and threw her a wink. sana couldn't help but cover her blushing face with her hands.
ā€œdo you got plans tonight, baby?
i was hopin' i could get lost in your paradise (paradise)
the only thing i'm thinkin' 'bout is you and i,
and i can't get you off my mind.ā€
sana should've probably known you were up to something. you wouldn't have left her hanging like that. but who would've thought you were crazy enough to leave in the middle of your schedules and fly to japan for her?
ā€œlet's get lost tonight,
let's get lost tonight,
baby, you and,
i can't seem to get you off my mind.ā€
the guitar strumming gradually faded, and the girls were howling and clapping. you walked toward sana with a single flower in your hand, wearing a big grin.
"hi," you said, still grinning.
sana got up, playfully shoving you before throwing her arms around you. "you are crazy!"
"crazy in love, apparently," dahyun giggled.
"are you complaining, though?" you laughed, ruffling her hair. then, you whispered in her ear, "if love doesn't make you do crazy things, then are you really doing it right?" *+:ļ½”.ļ½”怀怀ļ½”.ļ½”:+*
"lost in japan is trending," sana giggled from the couch.
you joined her, tossing a blanket over both of you. "you think they're putting two and two together?" you laughed.
sana laughed, sharing a message from a fan on the bubble app.
"that new song from y/n is definitely about you and i'm taking no arguments."

: Ģ—Ģ€āž› MY JJK CURSED TECHNIQUE
I'm going to elaborate more on it, i'd appreciate any kind of interaction since this means a lot to me!!! In my JJK dr, (it's based off 2006), I'm friends with Suguru, Satoru and Shoko (yes, I'm the only one who's name doesn't start with an S... #leftout) To be able to shine, my CT has to be STRONG and FIRE. That's 'cause we all know Gojo and his infinity. Well, I got something similar. Here goes the explanation:
Description: The "Eternal Frost" technique is a powerful and complex ability that manipulates the concept of absolute zero and infinite cold. This technique creates a barrier of frost that functions similarly to Gojo's Infinity, utilizing the principles of thermodynamics and quantum mechanics to create an impenetrable defense and devastating offensive capabilities.
Abilities:
Absolute Zero Barrier: The sorcerer generates a barrier around themselves or a designated area that mimics the properties of absolute zero. Any attack or object that comes into contact with this barrier is slowed to a near halt as its kinetic energy is absorbed and dissipated. This creates a zone where nothing can penetrate or harm the sorcerer within the barrier.
Frost Decay: By extending the reach of the Absolute Zero Barrier, the sorcerer can cause anything within a certain radius to gradually freeze. This freezing effect slows down movements, reduces reaction times, and can eventually immobilize enemies completely, encasing them in ice.
Quantum Frost Field: The sorcerer can create a field of intense cold that operates on quantum principles, causing particles within the field to lose energy rapidly. This field can be expanded or contracted at will, allowing for both wide-area control and focused attacks. Enemies caught in the field experience severe energy loss, slowing them down and weakening their abilities.
Cryogenic Rejection: The sorcerer can release a burst of concentrated cold energy that repels everything away from them. This cryogenic pulse creates a shockwave of freezing air that can push back enemies and projectiles, causing frostbite and severe cold damage upon impact.
Zero Point Compression: An offensive ability where the sorcerer condenses cold energy into a single point and releases it as a devastating blast. This blast freezes everything in its path instantaneously, turning targets into brittle ice statues that shatter with minimal force.
Infinite Frost Domain: The sorcerer's Domain Expansion, "Infinite Frost Domain," creates a space where the laws of thermodynamics are under their control. Within this domain, the sorcerer can manipulate the temperature and kinetic energy of everything, creating a landscape of perpetual ice and frost. Enemies trapped inside are subjected to the extreme cold, which saps their strength and slows their movements to a crawl.
Weaknesses:
The effectiveness of the Eternal Frost technique requires precise control and a deep understanding of the principles of cold and energy. Any lapse in concentration can weaken the barriers and fields.
The technique consumes a significant amount of cursed energy, making it challenging to maintain for extended periods, especially during prolonged battles. (NOT FOR ME THOUGH HAHA)
Fire-based or high-energy attacks can counter the cold abilities, disrupting the fields and potentially harming the sorcerer.
While the Absolute Zero Barrier is impenetrable, it also isolates the sorcerer from their surroundings, making it difficult to interact with allies or move quickly. That last point isn't too true on my hand...It does make me go slower, but not to a noticeable point if the barrier is really small. The bigger it is, the harder it is to move fast though! Now, that's all I've got about my CT. If you got any questions I'm free to answer I love this

things i wish the sonic franchise brought back or implement.
.
Dark Sonic
Tumblr media
seriously, i love imagining a fight between Dark Sonic and Eggman inspired by Korra vs. Zaheer ( when she was poisoned ). where he loses the cool attitude, the smile, everything, and goes in with full power, charging himself left and right at Eggman. it'd be even more fascinating to still have Dark Sonic lose. not because of his lack of power, not because of lack of skill, even when blinded by rage, but because of Eggman's ingenuity.
a lot of people, to this day, misinterpret Dark Sonic as a murderous, rampaging monster, but that completely misses the purpose of why he exists to begin with. i believe this is a case of people not exactly knowing where he comes from, or just a lot of fans drawing a murderous Sonic and it took the internet by storm one day, but just in case you don't know:
Dark Sonic is from Sonic X, a TV show that is sort of an expansion on Sonic Adventure 2, adding more lore, character arcs, and overall meaning to the game's original plot. Dark Sonic was revealed in the episode "Teasing Time" in s3, and the reason he appeared is because he discovered his friends ( Cosmo and Chris ) were injured and that one of them ( Chris ) was unconscious.
the whole reason this form exists is Sonic's love for his friends essentially fueling his rage. it's like Darkspine Sonic from SATSR, or has similar formula. Dark Sonic isn't inspired by any bloodlust or desire to kill, but rather by burning anger at seeing his friends be put in harm's way.
Dark Sonic is made from the strong desire to protect his friends.
2. An Actual Arc For Shadow
Tumblr media
you guys might be confused, especially if you consider some of my previous posts, but lemme explain.
for a long time, it's never felt like Shadow has actually recovered from his trauma, atone for his actions ( yes, i understand he saved Earth ), or live life really at all. it doesn't help that, to this day, SEGA continues to make Shadow relive the past.
i don't consider the movies to be a part of the problem, as Shadow being introduced to the plot was basically a given, and you can't introduce him in your own take without his general backstory ( unless you're Boom or Prime, i guess ). i believe the movie will be doing taking some creative liberties to his story, as they did so with Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, and i see no reason that they should stop.
the reason why i have an issue with this is because it's an ongoing issue within the games, specifically. Shadow the Hedgehog ( 2005 ) was a disservice to his setup and the 'first arc' ( considering he's still alive after the fans demanded his return ) to his story.
aside from it just giving 'early 2010s deviantart edge', it's just so...
childishly handled.
for one, you're immediately given a Hero or Dark route, like in SA2, which i feel completely misses the point of SA2's true ending. Shadow has redeemed himself ( or began to ), so to give him complete reign to just become an antagonist all over again defeats the whole purpose of a redemption.
it's like what Prime did with Dread, giving him an already established redemption arc ( sort of ), but then corrupting him again for no real reason other than just because.
another issue i have is Shadow's amnesia and attitude in general within the game. technically speaking, yes, it does make sense for him to suffer memory and // or physical issues from his fall from space, but to completely wipe out every single thing he did just to give him the opportunity to relearn his past, do some fucked up shit, do some less fucked up shit, then throw away everything in the past, Maria and her wish included, is...
amazingly obtuse, for lack of a better word.
again, while it's technically not out of bounds, i feel like giving Shadow complete and total amnesia just disrespects SA2's vision and execution of the story. it's redundant, it's lazy, and overall just really damn frustrating to watch.
Shadow deserves to have a story that allows him to heal from his trauma, discover who he is, and respecting Maria's wish along the way. a lot of people seem to think it's either he forgets about his past ( or buries it ) or full-on dedicates his entire life and doesn't bother picking up a life lesson or two, but it doesn't have to be that way.
Shadow can heal, grow, and change. SEGA just won't let him.
3. The Echidna Tribe & Knuckles' Story
Tumblr media
Knuckles is one of my favorite characters in the entire franchise as a whole, but his character and story is sorely dismissed. while Shadow has the issue of repetition, Knuckles suffers from being dropped on the head multiple times and played for a joke ( i think Frontiers is one of the more recent games that didn't do this, but i might be wrong ).
one of the reasons why i love Knuckles is how straightforward, yet reluctant he was about finding out his past. at the end of Sonic Adventure 1, he says something to the extent of:
"maybe i'm better off not knowing the meaning behind all of this. because i feel something terrible will happen if i do."
he is content being ignorant for the sake of his own peace of mind.
but in SA2, he's more or less forced to start facing his fear and learn more about the past. unfortunately, though, we don't actually get to see much after this game, because the tribe is almost entirely forgotten. instead, it's brought up in comics that are more or less canon ( i think ), but not fully aligning with the games. i think it's safe to say the comics are their own canon?
like with Shadow, i would've loved to see an actual conclusion on this arc of Knuckles' story. to see more of the tribe in the past, of their wrongdoings, character moments, more of Tikal or Chaos or the little Chao, and how it all ties together.
but instead, we have lots of media repeatedly insulting Knuckles' intelligence, ignoring his tribe and // or his job entirely ( i guess they forget the Master Emerald is portable? ), and just generally dumbing him down to be a hotheaded moron that apparently doesn't care about being the Guardian!
Knuckles is one of the most relatable characters in this series for me, as there's a lot of things i would rather not know and stay ignorant to, but have to face head on in order to fully move past it and grow to be better.
he was completely isolated on Angel Island for so long, yet people still make fun of him to this day for being manipulated by Eggman in SA1 ( even though he didn't even fully believe Eggman, it was just a precaution, but who cares about the details- ). he's not just a hothead, he's strong, he's kind, he's pretty blunt and, honestly, really fucking adorable, i love this echidna.
Tumblr media
look at him, just standing there. i love him.
anyway, Knuckles deserves a proper story surrounding his tribe, his identity as the Guardian of Angel Island, his relationships, and to have a satisfying conclusion. or, at the very least, more games or media in general not dumbing him down to an angry hothead with nothing better to do but to yell and ignore his responsibilities.
3. Sonic
Tumblr media
"what're you talking about, ashe? sonic's meant to be a flat character! what could be wrong with him?"
yeah, but after frontiers, i want more mentally ill sonic that needs to be concerned for by his friends, okay, that's all i want-
4. Storybook Era
Tumblr media
now, now, i know a lot of people don't like the storybook games because of their shoddy gameplay and all that, but i genuinely love these games, their flaws included.
i do believe satbk has a better story than satsr, but i still have an attachment to the latter game, so suck it.
it'd be really nice to see a storybook game with switch, xbox, ps, or similar controls. as the era has Sonic diving into different worlds, maybe a world like Alice and Wonderland could be an interesting game. several elements to work with, locations turning into creative levels or even hub worlds. this is sort of a long shot dream that will probably never exist, but i wanna see an adventure-style storybook game one day.
i'll probably die before that idea is even considered, but it's a fun thought and that's all that matters at the end of the day.
there's no real big reason as to why these matter or anything, as i don't believe you need a storybook in order to send off the messages these games try to give, but they're just really charming to me and i love to see how this type of game could be implemented into video games today, with all the new engines and whatnot.
5. Teams
Tumblr media
oof, okay, um-
there's a few games that have teams in them, and i guess you can count sonic forces as one of those games, so i should be more specific here.
i like SA1's flexibility with the roulette-like system, where you could play as any character you wished, but i also like SA2's team system, where they all had a close-knit role within the story from a similar perspective ( hero vs. dark ).
SA1 served multiple perspectives, all giving you pieces of the same puzzle that you have to figure out as you go. by the final story, all of the characters ( except Big, but idc, i love him ) have their character arcs and it's with their changes that the story is fully complete.
SA2 served the entirety of two perspectives and merged them together for the final story, heroes and villains having to work together to fight off the greater evil at hand.
overall, i want more games having the characters work together, having different details // information or even moral differences ( it depends on which system they go with, though ) on the situation at large, but maybe still having to come together.
whether or not they use official teams, i want the sonic franchise to bring back using other characters as necessary plot points with their own individual arcs.
it may not be needed, per say, as there's still a few games that work and don't have either of these systems, but i really miss the adventure games and wish for more of their elements to be implemented in future games.
6. CHAO!!!
Tumblr media
BRING THESE LITTLE CREATURES BACK, GODDAMN, WHY ONLY TWO GAMES?!
.
anyway, that's all i can currently think of. i think these would serve either character or charm to the franchise, but maybe you have some other ideas of what the games could give! maybe proper returns of characters, other forgotten stories, or even new ideas!
lemme know what you think.

In the western expanse of London, a tempest raged, casting shadows across the cobbled streets as Lady Dilara dashed through the rain-soaked alleys. Her breath came in ragged gasps, matching the frantic rhythm of her heart as she clutched her precious baby daughter tightly against her chest. Months of defiance, secrecy, and stolen moments with her true love had led her to this desperate escape. Raindrops splattered against her face like tears of the heavens themselves, and Dilara stole a fearful glance over her shoulder, her heart racing as the echo of pursuing footsteps drew nearer. Her fiancƩ's relentless hounds were hot on her trail, their loyalty to him unwavering, their determination unyielding.
With a trembling hand, Dilara sought shelter beneath a timeworn archway, her chest heaving as she huddled protectively over her child. The baby girl nestled against her, oblivious to the storm of emotions that tore through her mother's heart. Dilara's grip tightened, torn between the life she had dreamed of with her true love and the impending threat that now loomed over them.
As raindrops cascaded like crystal tears from the sky, she pressed a fervent kiss onto her daughter's downy hair, her voice a whisper borne of both love and heartache. "Forgive me, my darling. This choice I make is born of loveā€”a love that seeks to shield you from the storm that threatens to consume us."
With a determined exhale, Dilara squared her shoulders, resolve hardening in her gaze. She knew the choice she must make to ensure her daughter's safety. It was a choice forged in the fires of desperation, a last stand against a fate she refused to accept. The glistening streets led her to an enchanting boutique, its window adorned with ethereal lace and resplendent silks that seemed to dance in the soft glow within. And there, amid the needle and thread, the prominent Madame Lucille worked diligently, her hands weaving magic into every intricate stitch.
Dilara hesitated, her heart a symphony of conflicting emotions. But then, with a resolute breath, she stepped into the boutique, the chime of a bell announcing her arrival. Madame Lucille looked up, her eyes widening in surprise at the sight of the bedraggled noblewoman and the infant cradled in her arms. "Please," Dilara implored, her voice a tremor. "You must take and protect her. Keep her safe from those who would cause her harm." Madame Lucille regarded her with a mixture of compassion and understanding, as if she sensed the gravity of the situation. Wordlessly, she extended her arms, and Dilara gently relinquished her daughter, tears blurring her vision as she watched the child nestled in the arms of a stranger who might offer salvation.
With a silent promise in her heart, Dilara turned to flee, leaving behind a piece of her soul in that boutiqueā€”a fragment of her hope for a better future. Regret gnawed at her heart as she disappeared into the night. Yet, deep down, she knew that her daughterā€™s safety and the chance to live a life of her own choosing were worth the pain she felt. It was a sacrifice born of love, and Lady Dilara held onto the hope that one day, her daughter would understand the depth of her dire choice.
ā€”ā€”
As sunlight filtered through the curtains of your room, you stirred in your bed, the sheets soft against your skin. With a determined spirit, you swung your legs over the side and stood, stretching your lithe form to chase away the remnants of sleep. Each movement was deliberate, a testament to the discipline that had become ingrained in your routine.
The room you occupied now was a far cry from the stormy night you were born into. Pure silk sheets cradled you, an embodiment of the comfort and privilege you now enjoyed. Inhaling deeply, you basked in the tranquility that had replaced the chaos of your past.
Your morning stretches served a purpose beyond merely waking your body. The rigorous routine was a prelude to the intense sewing sessions your mother, Madame Lucille, put you through. The skills she had honed and passed on were your birthright, a legacy that connected you to the artistry and craftsmanship that had sustained you both through the years.
As you moved through each stretch, your mind wandered to the day ahead. The boutique was a hive of activity, a testament to Madame Lucilleā€™s reputation and the demand for her creations. You had grown into a skilled seamstress under her guidance, and together, you wove magic into every stitch, crafting garments that whispered tales of elegance and sophistication.
Descending the stairs with grace, you entered the bustling world of the boutique. Bolts of exquisite fabrics lined the shelves, and the air was filled with the soft rustling of fabric. Customers sought out Madame Lucilleā€™s expertise, each visit an affirmation of her talent and dedication. Madame Lucilleā€™s gaze met yours with a mixture of pride and determination. ā€œGood morning, my dear,ā€ she greeted warmly. ā€œAnother day of creating beauty awaits us.ā€
You nodded, a genuine smile gracing your lips. ā€œIndeed, Mother. Iā€™m ready.ā€ The days were full, but they were filled with purpose. The boutique flourished, and your hard work yielded rewards beyond measure. The comfort you enjoyed was a testament to your shared dedication to the art you had perfected.
As you continue to sew, your nimble fingers dancing across the fabric, your ears catch snippets of hushed conversation from a group of ladies nearby. Their voices carry excitement as they discuss an upcoming luncheon hosted by Lady Sora of the Vinsmoke family. Their words pique your curiosity, and you find yourself listening intently.
ā€œLady Soraā€™s luncheon is simply the most anticipated event of the season,ā€ one lady gushes.
ā€œIndeed, the Vinsmoke family is known for their grand gatherings and exquisite taste,ā€ another responds, her voice tinged with admiration.
Your heart skips a beat as you overhear their talk. Lady Soraā€™s luncheonā€”such events were common occurrences, and you often played a crucial role in their preparation, crafting elegant gowns that adorned the attendees. Your motherā€™s reputation and your own skill as a seamstress were highly regarded, evident in the meticulous designs you lovingly brought to life.
Yet, despite your contribution to these events, a pang of exclusion always accompanied your work. You were, after all, the daughter of a successful seamstress, a talented artist in your own right. Still, invitations to these lavish affairs remained elusive, like distant stars you could never quite reach.
With a careful stitch, you ponder the conversation youā€™ve overheard. The ladiesā€™ excitement serves as a reminder of the world beyond the boutiqueā€™s walls, a world of opulent luncheons and elegant gatherings. A world that, despite your role in crafting its allure, you have never truly been a part of.
As the fabric passes through your hands, your thoughts drift to the possibility of this being the event that changes everything. A small spark of hope ignites within youā€”the hope that perhaps, this time, you will not only help create the beauty that graces the gathering but also have the chance to step into that world yourself.
Before you, lost in your thoughts, time can carry you too far, the entrance door of the boutique swings open with a burst of energy. Your best friend, a noble girl whose down-to-earth nature has made her a kindred spirit to you, steps in with a radiant smile. The familiarity of her presence warms your heart; after all, you've shared years of laughter and secrets together.
With a wave and a joyful expression, she excitedly approaches you, her eyes shining with a secret she can barely contain. "Y/n!" she exclaims, her voice bubbling with enthusiasm. Turning your attention to her, you meet her gaze with a questioning smile. "What's got you so elated?" you ask, intrigued by her evident excitement.
Without missing a beat, she produces two delicate invitations from within her dress, her fingers clutching them with an almost triumphant air. "Look what I managed to secure," she announces, her voice a soft symphony of excitement.
As her words sink in, your heart skips a beat. The invitations bear the mark of Lady Sora's upcoming luncheonā€”the very event you'd been musing about just moments ago. Your eyes widen in disbelief, and your fingers brush the invitation as if to confirm its reality. "An invitation to the Vinsmoke luncheon," she says, her eyes gleaming with mischief. "And not just for me, but for you as well."
The enormity of her words settles over you, and a surge of emotions wells within. She, your steadfast friend, your connection to a world beyond your own, had used her influence to secure a place for you by her side. The gesture is as unexpected as it is heartwarming.
A shared moment of delight passes between you, and then both of you burst into squeals of excitement, your laughter mingling with joyous abandon. The boutique walls seem to shimmer with the shared thrill of this new possibility, and the shadow of exclusion that once loomed has been cast aside by the light of your friend's thoughtfulness.
As the joyous sound envelops you both, you can't help but marvel at the twists of fate and the bonds of friendship that have brought you to this point. Lady Sora's luncheonā€”a chance to step into a world you've admired from afarā€”suddenly feels within reach, a dream that's now more tangible than ever. And as the excitement continues to swirl around you, you know that this event will be more than just an elegant gathering; it will be a testament to the enduring power of friendship and the extraordinary journey that life can sometimes unfold.
ā€”ā€”ā€”
Amidst the grandeur of a magnificent estate, Lady Sora occupies the tranquil confines of her tea room. The delicate aroma of herbal tea wafts through the air as she stirs the cup, her thoughts drifting like the tendrils of steam that rise from its surface. With an air of quiet anticipation, she awaits the arrival of her third eldest son, Sanji. The estate, though opulent, carries an air of serenity that mirrors the demeanor of its mistress. Lady Sora's husband, Judge, is away on business, and in his absence, a rare freedom has enveloped her. No longer subject to the constant watchful eye, she finds herself able to move with a sense of liberation that had been absent for so long.
Her gaze is steady, her thoughts focused on the conversation she plans to strike with Sanji. He, her son whose warm smile mirrors his blonde hair, possesses a connection with her that goes beyond mere familial bonds. Out of her six children, he's the one who resembles her the most, both in appearance and personality. Their connection is a bridge that has only grown stronger with time, a testament to the depth of their understanding.
And then, with the graceful entry of Sanji, Lady Sora's heart warms like the embrace they share. His smile, a reflection of hers, carries the same warmth that his hair does. Their eyes meet, and the exchange is unspoken, a silent language of shared moments and unbreakable connection. "Mother," he greets, his voice a soothing melody that resonates with familiarity. The hug they share is not just a physical gesture but a testament to the bond they've nurtured over the years.
"Sanji," Lady Sora responds, her voice a harmonious blend of affection and genuine joy. The tea room, their haven within the estate's grandeur, becomes a sanctuary for their unspoken conversations and shared memories. As they settle into the warmth of each other's company, the estate's walls seem to hold the echo of a mother's love and a son's devotion. Amidst the tranquil beauty of their surroundings, Lady Sora and Sanji's connection blooms, a testament to the intricate tapestry of family, understanding, and the unspoken words that tie their hearts together.
With a hint of excitement dancing in her eyes, Lady Sora leans in, her voice a gentle melody as she shares her plans with Sanji. "My dear, I have wonderful news. Tomorrow, I shall be hosting a luncheon right here at the estate."
Sanji's gaze meets hers, curiosity lighting his expression. "A luncheon, Mother? How splendid! This is your first time hosting such an event, is it not?" Lady Sora's smile widens, her enthusiasm palpable. "Indeed, Sanji. I'm absolutely thrilled. The opportunity to host and arrange an event is a rare privilege that I intend to embrace fully."
As the conversation flows, Lady Sora transitions to a topic that she knows holds a special place in Sanji's heart. "And speaking of the luncheon, dear son, I have a proposition for you. Your culinary skills are unparalleled, as I've been told by many who've had the honor of tasting your creations."
Sanji's expression shifts, a mixture of surprise and hesitation flitting across his features. The memory of his previous attempts at cooking for nobility resurfaces, a reminder of the severe punishment he faced for daring to defy convention. The idea that nobles should not engage in the preparation of food had been drilled into him, a lesson reinforced by his father's strict adherence to tradition.
Lady Sora watches his reaction carefully, knowing full well the apprehension that lingers. She chooses her words with care. "I understand that there are risks involved, my dear. But with your father away, the opportunity presents itself. Would you consider lending your expertise to help prepare the dishes for the luncheon?" Sanji's gaze meets hers, a mixture of emotions reflected in his eyes. The memory of his past transgression is countered by the realization that this might be a chance to pursue his passion without fear. His lips part, and he hesitates before finally giving a subtle nod. "I... I'll help, Mother."
Her smile brightens at his acceptance, and her eyes twinkle with maternal pride. "That warms my heart, Sanji. Thank you." But Lady Sora's plans do not stop there. "And once the preparations are complete, I hope you will join the luncheon as well," she continues, her tone inviting. Sanji's eyebrows raise in mild surprise. "Me? Attend an event as a guest?"
Lady Sora's gaze softens, her words tender. "Yes, my dear. You've worked hard, and I believe you deserve to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Besides, who knows? The luncheon might bring unexpected delights." A playful glint enters her eyes, and she teases, "You might even find your true love amidst the festivities."
Sanji's response is a blend of humor and romanticism. "Ah, Mother, you have a way of turning even the simplest event into something magical." Their laughter rings in the tearoom, a melody of shared affection and a mother's belief in her son's potential. As Lady Sora and Sanji look ahead to the luncheon, they both know that this event holds more than just culinary delightsā€”it's a step toward embracing passions, defying convention, and discovering the unexpected joys that life can offer.

Tiny sits quietly as Shockwave cruises through space, his alt form was similar to the one they remember even if the colour scheme and feel was different. "Do you remember the first time you got the translation program working so you could talk to me?" He asked while leaning back in the seat. Shockwave's attention shifted to his lover as the Decepticon reminisced about the past, the memories of their early interactions and the development of the translation program stirring a sense of reflection within the scientist.
"Yes, I recall it, my records also still have the recording," Shockwave replied, his voice tinged with a hint of nostalgia, the first words Tiny had ever said to him were. ā€˜Oh thank fuck you hsve know idea how much i hate playing charades'. "It was a pivotal moment in our communication, and when I finally learnt your name."
It left a hollow ache in him, wishing they could go back to those days from those first cycles they could finally talk, they talked for ages on end. The times where He, Tiny and Traxies would sit in the garden, Tiny tending to the many different flora that Shockwave would bring home for him.
"As our communication evolved, so did our understanding of each other. I remember how many questions you had when we could finally converse ā€ shockwave continued, his gaze fixed on the endless expanse of stars that stretched out before them. "The translation program was one of my outbreaking projects, all because of you."
It makes Tiny let out a soft laugh. "I don't think I ever told you this, even when we did the Conjunx Ritus, it wasn't really that important to me, now it's just funny." His face seemed more relaxed as if he wasn't in so much pain any more. "The Translation got my name wrong, when you first said it, I never corrected youā€ he hums nonchalantly. It makes Shockwave go deathly quiet, systems processed the revelation
"I... was not aware, Why did you never correct me?ā€ Shockwave asked his voice much quieter than expected, As Shockwave processed this newfound information, " The first time you called me Tiny. It just kinda stuck after that, and I liked how you said it. It felt like a nickname and I know it was a glitch in your vocals when you were trying to pronounce it but I liked it" Tiny explains.
"I see," Shockwave acknowledged, "May I ask, what is your true name?" Shockwave inquired, moving swiftly to dodge the debris and asteroids floating in space. "My name is Tony, but i'd rather you stick with Tiny, it.. it feels right when you say it, i'm so used to it now that I don't think I'd respond to it anymore." he states with a chuckle, closing his eyes as he rest against the seat, he hadn't felt this comfortable in a while. ā€œI'm sorry I never told you, I kinda forgot after a whileā€
"Tony...," Shockwave repeated the name softly, letting the sound roll off his vocalizer; it wasn't that far off the name Tiny in truth. ā€œThank you for telling meā€ he thinks for a moment, it would do them both to atheist try and reconnect after everything. ā€œI two have something I never Disclosed to youā€ the words leave him and it earns a look from Tiny. ā€œOh?ā€ His brow raises as he waits for Shockwaveto continue.
ā€œMy paint wasn't always White, lime and blueā€ He remarks, remembering the colour he had before that which he changed because he hated how similar in colour it was to Proteus. ā€œIt was red and blue onceā€ ā€œWhy did you change it?ā€ Tiny questions, lay his head against his arms on the console.
ā€œProteus, tomany mech's associated my paint with him, one even remarked that it was like I was trying to climb into berth with him, so I changed it to colours which weren't seen in the senate so No one would assume or proposition meā€ it makes Tiny's eyes go wide for a moment, it was like listening to Shockwave From before, the snark in his voice the slight scoff. Yes his voice sounded different but it was almost the same tones.
ā€œI'm gladā€ He starts, robotic fingers Tracing over the dark purple that Shockwave's frame now was. ā€œGreen was my favourite colour, I loved how pretty it was on youā€ Tiny whispers. He missed it, the purple now felt almost cold compared to the bright colours that Shockwave's frame used to flaunt. They both go quiet reminiscing over the past.

commotion can be heard from the Medical bay. A few bots in the halls give each other looks before quickly walking away so Ratchet wrath doesn't turn on them.
" stop, just fragging stop it! Ratchet, I'm not going anywhere, I'm not going to Jump i just want out of this place!, I'm going to see Sunstreaker, that's where ill be" Traxies shouts as tries to move past the medic, First aid stands off to the side watching but not willing to get between the two.
"Oh no you don't, not so fast, i still need to run full spark scan, radiation levels and Energon storage on you!" Ratchet loomed, bracing servos on either side of the door with a stern scowl. Traxies squirmed, spark pulsing panic and anger in his field. But the medic's gaze softened knowing this lashing out stemmed from trauma from everything he had learn within the Cycle. "Sunstreaker can wait. You're in no state, bitlet." Gentle servos grasped his faceplate, thumbs rubbing soothing circles.
"Ratchet!, I want space!I'm just going to see Sunstreaker!" He tries to argue back, pulling away from the medic. He just wanted to be somewhere quiet and away from the medical lab. "Traxies, please." Ratchet's voices sounded almost strained. "I know you're frightened and need space, but rushing off in this state will only make it worse."
"Ratchet, stop, Stop coddling ME!!" He snarls, optics going wide when he sees Ratchet freeze up. When Ratchet doesn't protest, Traxies quickly disappears from the room. Leaving the medic there spark aching over the situation, he cycled a frustrated ventilation. ā€œ First Aid i'm going, if anyone comes looking I'm at swerves getting overchargedā€ he calls back to the other medic before he himself disappears.
Traxies moved swiftly making his way to the door he was looking for, he knocked his servo against it waiting for Sunstreaker, hoping he was there. Traxies looks like hell and the coolant lines are visible on his faceplate and it nearly makes Sunstreaker drop his data pad as he opens the door. "Traxies..." He reached out gently, cradling the smaller mech's face between his palms. Optics raked over him for a moment. "Frag, I thought the doc had you locked up. C'mere."
He tugged Traxies into his studio, kicking the panel closed before enveloping his trembling frame in a protective hug. Stroking soothingly down quivering plating, as the sit of Sunstreaker's Berth. "I.. I fragged up bad Sunny" he says while clinging to the larger mech. " frag, I've messed up" the blue speedsters vocalizer glitches slightly as he just clings to the Gold battle charger.
Sunstreaker tightened his grip as Traxies broke, venting raggedly against his plating. He cycled a vent, resting his chevron against his helm softly. ā€œAh can't be that Bad, you're in one piece, don't have the ship changing you down nowā€ Sunstreaker hums. Traxies hiccupped a brittle laugh, tears leaking faster. Sunstreaker's engines purred deeper as he rocked them slowly.
"We all frag up sometimes, Trax. Primus knows I'm the last mech to judge." He tilted Traxies' tear-stained face up and wiped the moisture away. "But it doesn't matter what stupid slag you pulled. Hatchet Ain't gonna do slag, plus your Bossbots little bitty?" The words are almost sarcastic, teasing the blue mech. "Whatever mess you're in, we'll fix it. That or i'll join ya in the brig"
"Can't fix it Sunny, can't do slag without making it worse" he says while curling more against the Gold mech. "It's a mess, I hate it, I hate being an Outlier, I hate Optimus right now, I don't wanna be around Ratchet. Wish I wasn't an Outlier than this never would have happened" he sobs. Sunstreaker vented softly, optics dimming.
"Shh, it's okay. Let it out." His hands stroked soothing patterns.
Optics gentled, Sunstreaker tipped Traxies' chin up. "Tell me. Who I gotta be the slag out of?." It makes a sad laugh leave Traxies before he finally starts explaining. "So... turns out Optimus isn't my real Sire, My carrier was a human, a Human which I accidentally left in the past. And my Sire is Shockwave" Sunstreaker's optics nearly blew their fuses at the revelation. A human... Shockwave... it reminds him of the photos from Commlink. A sudden realisation hits him. The Sparkling in the photos.
He cycled a ventilation. His field tries to touch Traxies to try and settle him. "Just wanted to get away from everyone else, is Bob here?" The blue speedster inquires. "Course the little glitch is here. Always where he's not meant to be."
He snapped his digits, and moments later a small insecticon skittered out from under the berth, chirping excitedly. Bob paused upon spotting Traxies, antennae drooping. Gently Sunstreaker lifted Bob onto the berth. The 'con crept forward slowly, nuzzling against Traxies with a few clicks.
Traxies pulls Bob into a cuddle as he just sits leaning up against Sunstreaker's side. His servo slowly scratched Bob's helm. "Primus I hate this, hate being an Outlier and all the Slag Boss bot spewed for so long about me needing to be a leader" He grumbles while pulling Bob closer. " I miss Sideswipe and Bumblebee" he finally states softly.
Sunstreaker draped an arm over Traxies. He growled low in his intake. "Primus knows I'd have strangled old Boss-botorns ago if you hadn't thought the world of him." Optics dimmed remembering their lost brothers. "I miss them too. Wish Sideswipe would have come with us, and Bumblebee is to busy trying to crawl up Prowls exhaust, when hes not on earth"
It makes Traxies choke back a laugh as he wipes his optics. The quarters fell to a solemn quiet, only the whirring of vents and rhythmic pets disturbing the stillness. Traxies relaxed.
Eventually the golden mech cracked a lazy smile. "So... buff and wax? I'm thinking crystal polish to really make the plating pop." His field nudged him. Traxies huffed but one corner of his mouth twitched upward. "Yea, yea I'd like that alot Sunny." It was one of the reasons Traxies and Sunstreaker got along so well both of them enjoyed pampering each other with wax, buffing and paint jobs, neither Bumblebee or Sideswipe were ever that interested in it.
A ghost of Sunstreaker's roguish smirk returned seeing Traxies laugh again, however faintly. "Pfft, you hang out with that grumpy medic too long, you're starting to complain like one!" He dabbed extra polish on Traxies' chevron, snickering as the youngling sputtered.
Traxies punches Sunstreaker and gives him a glare when he talks about Ratchet. "Ain't funny Sunny, don't talk about Ratchet like that!" He huffs but settles back to let the Battle Charger work. "Maybe smaller than you but I'm still older and will beat you to scrap" he threatens, he knows full well he wouldn't and that Sunstreaker was more a fighter than him because he had Prowl, Ironhide and Jazz training him when he was younger.
Sunstreaker raised his hands in surrender, though optics still sparked with mirth. "Alright, alright! No slanging the Hatchet. Got itā€ He chuckled, resuming his buff of Traxies' plating. "Never said you weren't fierce when riled."
"Ooh, you're gonna fraggin' love this." Sunstreaker snickered as Traxies glared, scrubbing a protruding strut with exaggerated care. "So, we got a new flyer on the ship with us. Seeker named Luna Whistler - and get this." He leered impishly. "Heard through the engine room he thinks you're rather fetching."
Traxies flushed, shoving at the Gold bot. "Wh-what? I don't even know him!" Sunstreaker guffawed. "Quit squirming, you'll scratch the finish! Frag, can you blame him though? With plating like this?" He buffed a lingering circle just to watch Traxies steam.

I think the reason Communism fails so readily after a certain point is its failure to adapt to the expansion of our understanding of human psychology and how evolution has effected our innate thought processes. Which isn't a surprise when Marx began philosophizing about collectivism 50 years before Frued began popularizing psychoanalysis.
Humanity as we understand in the over 100 years since the publishing of the Communist Manifasto, is not a collectivist species. We are tribalistic with individualistic tendencies. Humans often prioritize their personal needs first, with consideration to their immediate peers (close family and friends) second, society third, and the globe last (if at all).
Collectivism isn't inherently opposed by natural human psychology, but as the historical record can attest it can work in small groups but utterly falls apart on larger scales.
Collectivism requires almost total cooperation from those involved. And while small groups are capable of such, the natural tribalism inherent in humanity renders collectivism impossible on a large/national scale due to the sheer disagreement between tribes. Which has the not so ironic effect of reducing collectivism to a form tribalism.
All good stuff.
"I think the reason Communism fails so readily after a certain point is its failure to adapt to the expansion of our understanding of human psychology and how evolution has effected our innate thought processes."
True, but I'd say it's not even the inability to adapt as much as simply being based on incorrect assumptions to begin with. Once you start out under a false assumption about the world, and then find out you got it wrong, you need to go back and start again, not just try to make new information fit your previous, and now disproven, theory. The problem with ideologies, whether religious or political, is, once a holy text comes into being, people will defend it to (your) death and you can't remove it without ending the cult itself.
"Collectivism isn't inherently opposed by natural human psychology, but as the historical record can attest it can work in small groups but utterly falls apart on larger scales."
Yes. I've been saying here for years that I've seen with my own eyes anarchy and communes work in small groups, but they won't work on a national level I guess because the tribal glue falls apart after a couple hundred people, especially if you don't have an outside enemy to define yourself in opposition to.

You know what, no I'll go on record and just say that;
Mabinogi hands down IS the best MMORPG.
Now sure, you can immediately call me bias; and I can literally tell you that is an overused argument. Truth is, yes I have a bias, I have a bias as someone who has played literally hundreds of MMOs, and has never found one that can hold a candle to Mabinogi. Yes this includes games like WoW or FFXIV, and even lesser known but still popular titles like Path of Exiles or Warframe or even Tree of Savior.
But why exactly do I say that Mabinogi is the best MMORPG on the market? Well I think a good MMORPG does a few things, firstly I think any game that wants to be an RPG that lets you make a character needs to give you a sense of identity. Second, I believe an MMO needs to create an interesting environment for playing alongside others; whether they're directly in your party or not. Lastly, no good RPG is complete without going on a grand adventure with proper noticeable growth.
Now, before we begin to really dive into this essay of a post, I want to cover something real quick because I think it's important. When I say Mabinogi is the best MMORPG, and I'm saying that I've played games like WoW or FFXIV. I'm not trying to say those games are bad. I will concede that direct translation and definition would suggest I believe they are "worse" than Mabinogi, and yes I do believe that. However I'm not trying to tell you that your favorite MMORPG is bad or garbage or whatever. Please do not take my personal opinion to be slander of your favorite game. For a lot of players, an MMORPG can be special to them, the characters and the world can mean something to them; and I don't want to be some hater when it comes to your favorite place on the internet.
I'm not coming into this as someone who's naive about the world of MMOs, I know the good and the bad of them, not ALL of them; but a good lot of them. However I want to make something clear; if I went into why other games were "worse" than Mabinogi I would immediately be ignored. Let's say you really like FFXIV, that's fine; it's a good game, I play it myself and am excited about the latest expansion coming out in a few days. Now if I tell you that I think it's kind of ridiculous how much they've simplified the game to the point no class feels truly unique mechanically, or how I used to like AST more before they took away our card's uniqueness and such. It's entirely possible you would stick with me and understand that, even if our opinions differ; what I'm saying is true to me even if it's not to you. Sure maybe you hated having RNG in the RNG healer class, maybe you disliked having to decide if you wanted to spread that buff to the whole party, or enhance that buff for one person, or extend the buff. Maybe you like it more now that everything sort of does the same thing. I'm not talking down to you or being sarcastic when I say, that's fine. We just feel differently about it. Thing is, I've very likely lost you; It's unlikely you hear all of that and not think I'm just some FFXIV hater. I'm not, but it's unlikely you think that way after hearing all my gripes with it. I wouldn't blame you for thinking someone who just tore into a game likely dislikes the game, that's a fair assumption.
If at any point I do sort of dig into a game for it's changes, mechanics, or just how it works. I want you to understand I only feel that way because I do enjoy those games and wish they didn't do things that made playing them feel less fun to me. Those last two words are possibly the most important there; this whole post is strictly opinion, it's my opinion. We don't need to share that opinion, but I hope you find what I say to be at least interesting. I don't see much reason to sit through the whole thing otherwise.
Oh... and one more thing, if you follow this link and download the game now it should be done roughly by the time you finish reading this, probably; maybe? <- That's not even an affiliate link; I'm not sponsored to say anything I'm saying here, I wish I was though.
Game Website Link -> Right here, if you need to make an account.
Now without further delay, let's get into my first key point of why Mabinogi is the best MMORPG on the market right now.
The first order of business in any MMORPG will also be the first thing we talk about here, creating a character. You can't step foot into a world of fantasy without having an avatar to represent yourself. If this individual is to be your fantasy self then the game better have enough customization options to really let you be you. Mabinogi has plenty, from skin color, player weight, and even age; to the colors of the garments you wear.
Let's start with that first bit I mentioned in the introductory paragraph, creating an identity. Mabinogi is a game that truly allows for a diverse cast of characters, when you first make a character the system will unfortunately be fairly limited. Yet when you're released into the game proper and complete the tutorial you will soon find that it's extremely open ended. Your character will start at an age between 10 and 17 (but can go to 25 and even further if you wish), which you'll be able to select once per day, or once per week depending on your level. Age has a very slight almost non-existent effect on your stats, but will mostly determine how tall you are. As a quick example, here is my human main at 18 (left) alongside 2 other players. While I cannot see their age, I can tell their race is human; which allows me to at least guess one is roughly 10 - 13 (middle) and the other is likely anywhere between 15 - 16 (right).
Tumblr media
When it comes to skin color, Mabinogi is one of the few games that has a great selection. From the realistic to the fantastical; there's almost certainly something for everyone here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've seen light skinned characters, dark skinned characters, tanned and red skinned characters. I've partied up with fantasy demons and zombies. I buy my dyes from a player who's literally pure black with blinding white eyes; a small imp-like character who's style I absolutely adore and who's dyes are top quality. While it doesn't even begin to cover the extensive list, I thought I'd take a few screenshots to help show what I mean.
Tumblr media
Now I understand a lot of you may feel like your character doesn't truly reflect you as a person unless you can be the right weight for you. Mabinogi has you covered here as well, albeit with a slightly convoluted system. I will openly admit that this game is flawed, it is by no means a perfect game; but I take this as a sort of "better than nothing" approach. Food in Mabinogi will grant slight stat bonuses, but underneath those stat points and flavor text there's a hidden mechanic.
Food provides players with Upper and Lower muscle gain or loss, as well as a Weight gain or loss. While food is not the only method of gaining or losing both weight and muscle, it is the most common, and arguably easiest method. Players have many guides on the internet that explain which foods to eat in which order to gain the body type you want, this even includes the wiki.
Tumblr media
It's also important to note that weight does not effect your stats, the food you eat absolutely does give a small temporary bonus. However your character can be as fat or skinny as you'd like without ever effecting your ability to perform any task.
I would be remiss not to mention another feature of creating an identity, and it does feel like this is an appropriate place to do it. Every day, or every week (depending on your level) you can preform something called a Rebirth, your level will return to 1 and you will be allowed to change some things about your character or leave them as they are.
This will unfortunately readjust your weight settings, which is why we see so many guides on how to get the ideal weight you're looking for. Thankfully it is by no means difficult to achieve this weight gain once more and will take no more than a few minutes after rebirthing.
As a quick note I won't spend too much time on, for my fellow genderfluid and NB friends out there; you can actively change your gender whenever you rebirth (though obviously you don't have to be NB or Genderfluid to enjoy this feature) and there is a good amount of items specific for crossdressing if that is something you'd prefer. That list of items is far more than your generic maid outfit for men; including everything from dresses to common skirts, with women getting suits, hoodies, and everything in between. If you switch genders you will even get an achievement specifically titled "Genderfluid" which I genuinely appreciate quite a lot.
Tumblr media
Speaking of clothing, Mabinogi allows you to use a Style Tab when putting on gear. Your style tab won't give you any stats, but allows you to use the look of whatever is equip to the selected slot over the actual gear worn under it. The Style Tab is free for all players, so you can look your best no matter what you might be doing. Though I suppose those clothes wouldn't really be your own unless you had some kind of say over how they looked right?
Thankfully Mabinogi features a robust dying system in which you can actually use hex coded colors on just about any part of an outfit. You can also preview these changes directly on your character prior to using a dye.
Tumblr media
There's a specific, and short; list of items that can't be dyed. Otherwise it's common for every item in the game to have at least one or two dye slots where you can customize their colors however you'd like.
You can do the same for your weapons, even giving them skins to change how they look; and then dying those skins to look just how you want them. A good weapon should match your best outfit after all, right?
Clothing items additionally come in the form of helmets, gloves, boots, main body, robes/back slot, face accessories, and then two more accessories that typically float to either side or behind you. This means you can mix and match everything you wear. You're not stuck trying to make some minor hat fit the entire rest of your armor that came as one solid piece, and you're certainly not struggling to match colors when only a small part of your armor actually dyes to the color you want.
Your identity in Mabinogi is what you see fit to make it, and while it would make this segment incredibly long, more so than it already is; the customization doesn't even end here. To give you an idea of what I'm talking about, you can actually customize how often and how many times your character will blink. There is no other game on the market that lets you create a character the way Mabinogi does, not while still being an entire world outside of your character for you to explore. Speaking of that world, before we get to exploring just what this game has in store for you on your adventure; I'd like to talk about the characters who aren't you. No I don't mean the NPCs, I mean the other players, and how they impact the game you play even when they're not in your party.
Speaking of other players, to really hit home just how different everyone can look I ran around and took a few pictures of players I found in just this one small town.
Tumblr media
You may be wondering how much these other players actually matter, in a lot of MMORPGs other players are merely there to fill out the party for dungeons or assist with world encounters. In Mabinogi they do that as well, however there is a constantly evolving economy both on the player ran Auction House, and for things like the Commerce system. Players can also run their own shops, join you for a jam session to play some music together; and even burn some items for a campfire spirit summoned at a group bonfire.
While the NPCs in this game are fantastic, the players are the lifeblood of the game, as is the case with any good MMORPG. From guilds and parties running content together, to the occasional camp you'll come across while exploring the world. Players populate Mabinogi and their effects are felt whether or not you're actively a part of their game.
One of the features most effected by this is Commerce; a trade system which lets players transport trade goods between major cities and towns. If an item is being traded to a town more than others, it's price will drop and you may find better deals by taking it to far away cities. Though you'll encounter bandits on the road, and due to carrying heavy trade goods you'll be a good bit weaker than you usually find yourself. This makes traveling in groups much easier, with those who use air travel particularly; in need of parties thanks to the dragons who will come after your hoard of trade goods. If a bandit is to steal your loot, you need not worry; as other players can take up the role of bounty hunters and track down these bandits at their hideouts to get your stuff back. Bounty Hunting is an easy way to make some cash and also help out your fellow players who may have been wronged by a poorly placed bandit or two.
What about production? Surely I don't need anyone to assist me with making my goods. Though, a second opinion never hurts; you will actually get a boost to production success rate while in a party with other players who also have production skills. In fact, this is a great way to make some strong gear; as products you make will get bonus stats over those found in stores. This does mean that the player economy is largely populated by products made by other players. If you do a good enough job on the item you're making, you'll even leave a signature behind which can be seen by the individuals who buy and use that gear. This is a minor touch, but it's one I greatly appreciate. Anyone can have a really cool demon sword, but only I have a blade forged specifically by my good friend; in hopes it would aid me in my quest. The connection between myself and my party is ever so slightly more apparent, even when they're not around; I always have a small piece of them with me.
Players attending the banquet, an event held weekly that awards free EXP and a lottery raffle at the Tara Castle; can actually donate their food to the catering tables. This is a great time to hang out with fellow players, get some free levels; and of course eat significantly too much food.
Surely that's all, right? Well no, believe it or not players actually have a hand in many things. If you want to enchant some gear but you don't have the enchanting rank to do it yourself; you can request another player to assist you. Perhaps you're an alchemist needing to create alchemy crystals of special magic skills; another player can cast that magic nearby and let you synthesize it into a crystal. If you're using the Jam Session action other players can join you with their own instruments when you play music; automatically matching whatever song you're playing. There's a fashion contest where the winner is put on display in full costume right in the middle of the major cities for all to see. There's even mechanical changes to things like magic, if you're casting Ice Bolt while I cast Fire Bolt next to you; we instead both gain a charge of Fusion Bolt. This form of magic combines the properties of your Ice Bolt and my Fire Bolt into a more powerful version of our respective magics, all because we happened to cast at the same time nearby each other.
If you enjoy music then you might find yourself reading through the Bard Bulletin Board, where players can post the compositions for their custom music. You can transcribe this music yourself and play it whenever you wish, though you can also use the MabiNovel Bulletin to read books written and published by your fellow players as well. This does in fact mean that you too could become a composer, or even an author and post your works to the respective boards.
Players can also obtain their own small piece of the world via Homesteads. These function as a sort of player owned housing system, and they allow you to do everything from growing farms to hosting your own production stations with boosted success rates. Of course the owner of the Homestead can allow either friends, or anyone; to come and gather from their herb patches, farm animals, and various logging, mining, and production sites. Meaning that other players not only offer you an expanded world to explore, but potentially gathering and production spots that may not otherwise be available at your current location.
While Homesteads start quite small, they're nothing to scoff at when fully upgraded; allowing for even a proper house, pets, and partners; to be placed on the fully customizable property. Some items will even passively grant you bonuses to your stats or provide your gathering and production stations bonuses to gathering and success rates.
Tumblr media
Alright great, so you have a character who's uniquely you; you even have a place in the world among other players. However what good is that if you don't have a world worth existing in. You're here to play an MMORPG, if you wanted to simply dress up an avatar and exist in a space with others; you'd play something like VRChat or Second Life, or maybe you'd go download that Sims multiplayer mod. You want an RPG! An adventure! A living world to explore and be a part of!
Well Mabinogi's got you covered there as well believe it or not. Now where you fall in terms of enjoying the story is fairly up in the air; I know some people who love it and others who could take it or leave it. That's entirely fair and I don't blame them for feeling that way. To avoid potential spoilers I will be saying up front that if this has been enough for you and you're willing to trust me that this game is worth your time. Skip ahead to the Q and A if you think you need it, or go download and play the game now if you didn't already do that. Hell you can even add me in game if you want some people to play with who are going to be chill with newbies. If you need a bit more though, then keep reading because you might just like what I have to say about this game's journey.
When you start Mabinogi you'll be told you're this being from the stars, something that cannot die; and therefore has importance here. You may literally be an immortal entity, but you won't feel like it. You'll start with only a handful of skills, and with this game having no real class system it's not so straight forward how to get more of them. You'll stumble upon a few while just exploring the world, but others might require you to actually engage with the world around you. If that sounds exciting, don't worry; we've only just begun to explain the whole system of interacting with NPCs.
See the game of Mabinogi is before all else, the story of you; your character the journey you go on. So it's fitting that you keep notes in a Memo, this Memo is written in the perspective of your character; and will keep tabs on what you've been through. Each entry in the Memo is given a Key Word; and these key words will be given to you as you experience new places and things. Whenever you engage with an NPC you can start a conversation, this allows you to flip through your Memo and select a Key Word to speak about with them. Asking them about their private story will reveal this character's lore and backstory, at least; if they like you enough to share that information with you. NPCs do actually contain a system of trust with the player, and if you befriend an NPC they'll even let you access a secret shop where they sell exclusive items. Other Key Words include things like Nearby Rumors where you can obtain gossip and quests; or perhaps you want to ask about Part Time Jobs. Whether you're working for the town blacksmith to deliver some refined ore, or you're gathering wool to make bandages for the town healer; Part Time Jobs offer you fitting rewards for the work you perform, and allow you to even unlock various skills down the line if you perform well enough. Which brings us to another Key Word, the Skills Key Word. Skills is a Key Word that will ask an NPC if they believe they could teach you anything, if you see a knight you can ask them about Skills and maybe learn a new technique for your swordsmanship. Asking a chef about skills may result in them giving you a quest that has you running out to make flour and bake some bread. These methods are meant to immerse you in the world and teach you how the mechanics behind these skills works, rather than just saying you're level 16 so now you can bake bread.
Some NPCs will even react to your title, thanking you for the deeds you've done or perhaps judging you for why you'd do such a thing. This is because every NPC in the game, no matter how minor; has a story to tell. They all have unique theme music that contains a name referencing something about the character and their story. The more you talk to these NPCs and they open up to you, the more you'll learn about the world you're a part of.
However, small NPC stories don't amount to much in the grand scheme of an epic adventure do they? Well don't worry, now we're getting into the main scenario quests, and the lasting impact they have on you as a character. Have you ever felt like you should have maybe gotten a new power, or been recognized for the deeds you've accomplished after you literally save the world; only to return to business as usual? Well Mabinogi actually considered all of that, not only do you get a title that NPCs might react to, as I mentioned previously; but the Main Scenario Questline actually gives you everything from transformations to special unique items. This is again the last chance to not have spoilers as I will be covering at the very least Generation 2: Paladin and Generation 10: Goddess of Light through Generation 12: Return of the Hero.
Okay now that everyone who doesn't want spoilers is gone, allow me to tell you about just a few of these MSQ rewards; of course jumping right to the good stuff without context makes it meaningless. So let's start with a quick summary of Generation 1 that's roughly spoiler free.
Generation 1: Advent of the Goddess starts with The Goddess asking you for help, then you save her. See I kept it spoiler free! You're given the title "[Player name] Who Saved The Goddess" for doing this which grants you some nice stats, but the real reward is that you get to move on to Generation 2: Paladin. Well wow, that's kind of an underwhelming title isn't it? You just finished Advent of the Goddess and now you're on... Paladin? Huh okay, well this quest line is all about a Paladin of legend. You spend the generation becoming someone worthy of the Paladin's armor, searching for his old armor, and even reliving some old memories of his. All to figure out who he is and solve the grand mystery that sparked this whole generation in the first place. The political drama of a potentially puppeteered prince who may actually be dead from the start... Okay yea listen it's more interesting when you actually play it. The real plot twist of this whole generation however is when you figure out who that old Paladin actually is, and more importantly that they're still alive. In the final dungeon of this generation when you face off against the final encounter he is not the one who saves the day. Rather it is you who gets to don the armor of the legendary Paladin and in a moment I love, you get to save him. This transformation is actually a fairly minor stat boost at first. You're not some overpowered god, you're still you; just powered up. When you complete the generation you will find yourself with a wholly new power available to you, the power to become that very same Paladin; now with it's own skills to rank to make it even stronger than it already was.
Yes, just for clearing Generation 2 you now have an entirely new power unlocked for you. The power to, once a day in game time; transform into your Paladin form. If you're an Elf you transform instead into a Falcon, and Giants transform into a Beast. These new forms come with their own unique skills and properties. However you don't lose access to the skills and abilities you already have. This will be a running theme throughout Mabinogi, you only get more; you don't get locked out from being you. If the Paladin aesthetic isn't your deal, and you want things a little different, don't worry; Generation 3: Dark Knight might be more your style. However, this begs the question; are Dark Knights and Paladins the same thing flavored differently? Nope. Sure they are both the same Transformation at the end of the day, but their inner workings are very different. To give you a quick example of what I mean, Paladins always get the same stats every time, but they have no specialized skill they can use while transform. They're essentially your generic stronger form, with buffed stats and nothing more, dull but reliable. Dark Knights instead roll for their stats every time they transform, meaning sometimes you're going to have much stronger physical defense, and other times a much higher magic damage stat. If you're interested in the specifics, here you go:
Tumblr media
Dark Knights also don't get forcibly removed from their transformation when their timer is up, rather they go into a state called "Disarmed" where they will take heavy damage over time, but this can be healed if they wish to power through it and keep fighting in their transformed state. They additionally obtain Control of Darkness which lets them tame an enemy to fight for them for a short time.
The Generation 2 transforms (Paladin, Dark Knight, Falcon, and Beast) all have 4 tiers of their transformation, dependent on the skills rank. Each boasting it's own unique title and appearance that builds on their central aesthetic and motif. This means a player who's max ranked Paladin will transform into a Champion, or for Dark Knights, they'll become an Infra Black. I do enjoy the morals of the game being muddier than to just say Paladin is bright and shiny and good, and Dark Knight is well, dark and edgy and bad. As you go through the game you'll learn a lot about the politics of the gods, and understand their moral values a lot better. Which leads us to our next major upgrade.
In Generation 10: Goddess of Light, we take the fight to the gods, and between Generation 10 and Generation 12, we'll even obtain the Sword of the Gods, a then usable sword weapon which ironically may not even be as powerful as some of our own gear by the time we get it; but more specifically we'll decline godhood and become a Demigod. However it's a bit deeper than that, as you'll find that at the end of Generation 10 you're confronted by your doppelganger. Upon defeating it, you gain the power to assume the form of a Demigod; which yes, you can in fact transform into while also transformed into your Generation 2 state. Not only does this form regen your HP, MP, and Stamina; but it additionally allows the use of special skills that depend on which of the gods you're allied with. Those who are being supported by the Goddess Neamhain will obtain skills such as Spear of Light, and Fury of Light; however if you decide to be supported by the Goddess Morrighan you instead obtain Wings of Eclipse, and Wings of Rage. Of course you won't have a choice right away, when you first obtain the ability to become a Demigod, you'll be defaulted to working with Naemhain's skills. They're not bad, but Morrighan isn't going to just give you her skills so easily so if we want options we'll need to get her to work with us. Once we clear Generation 11: Sword of the Gods; we in fact obtain the Sword of the Gods itself. This is important since we'll need it if we're going to fight the gods. Now in Generation 12 we are asked to fight alongside Morrighan to bring down the King of the Gods, Nuadha. For clearing this generation, you'll obtain the right to be supported by Morrighan; which is kind of funny since if you're a Dark Knight it shows you've actually betrayed her by giving up the path of the Paladin in favor of following Dark Knight. I guess she can overlook that given you just helped her defeat the King of the Gods.
Surely the upgrades stop there right? Well no, actually; but you probably knew that already. See there's actually currently, up to G25, with G26 on an active countdown to release as I make this post. With even more transformations, special skills, and some really incredible upgrades that change even the way we engage with crafting; the generation quests are more than worth your time and leave you feeling more powerful with each completion.
Mabinogi isn't just having you go through these quests to complete the story, it's also actively making you more and more the proper image of this immortal hero of legend. It's giving you a power boost on par with some silly shonen anime. As much as you may cringe to hear me make a stupid joke from the early internet; yes the Milletian could beat Goku. Sorry I had to make the dumb joke after making the shonen anime reference you know? These powers aren't ever restricted from you either; it's not as if you suddenly can't use your Paladin transformation in a dungeon, nor are you locked out from using Demigod to regen some stamina just to pick some flowers. Mabinogi is the story of your character, and it gives you so many upgrades and power scale boosts because it genuinely wants you to feel like a powerful hero going up against powerful enemies.
Now I will admit there's something to be said about the balance in some of the later Generation quests, especially because you can skip over a lot of them. They absolutely do plan for you to have the full arsenal of Generation specific skills by the time you reach Generation 20+ but dare I say, I think that's fair. We actually see this in other games too, it's just more allowed from other games because they do a better job of hiding their barrier to entry.
What I mean is that FFXIV is like Dark Souls 3, it's not going to let me go somewhere I'm not actually ready for, because it knows I won't have any fun getting my ass kicked but it's really linear. While Mabinogi is like Elden Ring, it looks at me saying "I'm ready I'm ready put me in coach!" While facing down against an actual god well before I'm... you know, actually ready. Yet it just says "go get 'em champ!" Only to watch me become a pancake two seconds later and think "yea this balance is garbage." Truth is, if I go back and do the content I'm suppose to do first; I will be more than ready for this content when I reach it. However I might actually be able to clear this content when I'm not supposed to yet, and Mabinogi; much like Elden Ring, lets me try. We see this same type of barrier to entry in how FFXIV says "hey man you can't run this until you're Item Level 280 sorry." That feels boring when you just want to run the thing, you don't want to go back and "grind" for item levels, but in reality it's just stopping you from trying and failing repeatedly. Which makes sense for the type of game FFXIV is, where other players are a requirement, and you don't want to hold them back because you thought you could do it with less.
The other truth is, with Mabinogi; not every path to success is going to look the same. I might spend my time training my combat skills, slowly saving up the small stat gains to get to where my base strength is at 500 and I can deal some nice damage. My friend who doesn't want to touch combat skills can absolutely focus on his cooking, slowly but surely becoming a master chef as I've become a master warrior. Now he can make a catering dish that boosts his strength to 500 all the same. We're not going to be dealing the same damage since things like weapon type, and skill ranks will come into play; but this does mean he could achieve the same goals as me in a totally different way. Personally I'm a huge fan of this, it lets every single character feel unique; you can truly become your own kind of player here.
Whether it's weaving your magic skills into your archery gameplay, or becoming an apothecary bard who uses musical buffs and potions to level the playing field. Perhaps you want to train your Ninja and Chain Blade skills to keep you at a distance, debuff enemies, and set explosive traps. You could even just play the game with life skills, relaxing by the pond as a master fisher; before tailoring a new outfit. All of these methods are entirely valid ways to play the game, they all give the necessary stats to enjoy whatever content you wish to, and yes they all give you levels.
It is for these reasons, and honestly; many others. That I have played this game since it's beta, for literally half my lifetime; and why I believe this is genuinely hands down the best MMORPG on the market right now. I urge you to give this game even 15 or 30 minutes of your time, don't get caught up on the old dated graphics, don't fret if you don't understand everything right away. The game is complex, it has a ton of mechanics that mix and intertwine to create a unique experience. The things you might find troublesome at first are exactly what makes the game so fun and unique when you understand them. Given the average internet speed and size of Mabinogi, should you have downloaded this game at the start of this reading it should be about done by now. If not, you've got the Q and A down there for any potential follow up questions you may have. So go ahead and jump into the world of Erinn, if you stop by Dunbarton on Channel 9 you might catch someone from the Landsbetween guild, feel free to stop and say hi; we're a friendly bunch.
A quick Q&A for things I've been asked frequently and might answer some questions or possible concerns you have about the game.
Q: I see a weird banner with P on it, does that mean I require a premium account to use that skin/hair color? A: No. That symbol signifies that it would cost Pon. A cash shop currency that is given to the player fairly regularly. You in fact get a gift box with about 20 Pon when you reach an early level milestone such as 50 or 100. It costs anywhere between 3 - 5 to change eye, hair, and skin color. Of course it only costs you to change to a color that uses the P banner, if a color you would like doesn't have any symbol (either a P for Pon or a B for a Beauty Coupon) then it's completely free. Q: I see a lot of cool characters, how much of a grind is it; or do I need to pay real money to customize my character? A: You can play Mabinogi entirely free to play, gacha boxes do contain high end loot and good in-game items. However the Auction House easily allows you to buy these items from players using entirely free to play gold when a new gacha comes out. While it might seem intimidating to make 1m at first. You'll quickly learn you can make 1m passively per week + any actual activity you do in this game earns you quite a lot. A single run of a dungeon will net me between 50k - 350k depending on drops and my actual in game luck stat. This is on top of the 160k I can make for free just logging in and doing Fynni Blossoming for the day. Of course, the higher your skills and total level; the easier it will be to make money. Q: I don't want to do a specific part of this game, can I still enjoy the other features? A: Yes. Entirely, in fact; I'm doing a challenge run on a character who's not allowed to rank up any combat or damage skills. I've already completed the first major questline of the game without any problem. I will say that your ability to play the game will directly reflect how much knowledge of the mechanics you have. This isn't to say you should scour the wiki for days on end, unless you're into that. However I would argue that having a few friends to play with, or perhaps actually taking the time to read through skills and practice with what you do enjoy doing; will help you to get by not doing the stuff you don't want to. You really can play this game however you want, it just may require you to have a better understanding of it's inner workings. You're always welcome to ask me about stuff whether that's here on tumblr or in game.
Q: My UI and HUD are this weird plastic blue color and I kinda hate it. Can I fix that or am I stuck with this? A: In the settings menu the game allows you to change the color of the UI and HUD to fit your liking. You can also enable various hotbars and disable others. Additionally you can change the game's resolution, and even pick out which version of the OST you'd like to use of which there are three distinct versions.
Q: Does this game have a meta I should worry about?
A: Yes and no, yes it has a meta; no you shouldn't worry about it. If you're really concerned I recommend picking Giant as your race and Close Combat as your starting Talent. I didn't go over Talents in this essay but they're sort of specializations, not classes. They don't limit anything you can do, but rather give you 2x EXP towards the skills they govern. Giants have a fair bit more strength and HP, they're your standard tanky race. While they may not be as fast on their feet as nimble Elves; they can take a good few more blows, and even have racial skills specific to gathering up enemies. Close Combat doubles down on what Giants are already good at, giving you more HP and Strength. Start out by ranking your essential basics, those being Defense, Smash, Counter, Windmill, and honestly throw Assault Slash in for good measure; since you'll want to often combo these skills together. DO NOT SLEEP ON DEFENSE, it is a heavily overlooked but extremely powerful skill. If you feel like you're struggling in combat, grab a shield and rank your shield mastery; even light armor mastery will be more than enough so long as you have a decent shield and the necessary ranks in the skills. You'll soon feel like a steel wall of defense that not even major storyline bosses can put a dent into.
Q: What are the differences between Elves, Humans, and Giants? Can I change my race after I make my character, since I can change my gender?
A: First off, no; sadly you cannot change your race after making a character. This is become of the racial differences. The major ones are as follows...
Elves can use invisibility to hide themselves, they'll fire 2 arrows as opposed to 1 when using archery; and they obtain a unique poison arrow that spreads to nearby targets when fired. They move faster than other races and have stats better geared towards Magic and Archery; though that won't matter too much. They become a Falcon after Generation 2 letting them use Elven Magic Missile, and cannot use 2 handed weapons nor can they dual wield.
Giants can use stomp which is a fairly week AoE ability, they also get Taunt, Stampede, and Wind Guard as unique skills. They can use two handed weapons in one hand letting them use a shield with them, and can dual wield blunt objects. They have stats geared towards a close combat play style, though again that won't matter too much later on. They become a Beast after Generation 2 letting them use Giant Full Swing, they cannot use bows but have thrown spears instead.
Humans cannot learn the specific racial skills of the other two races. They can dual wield swords; and don't have equipment restrictions outside of not being able to dual wield blunt objects and not being able to use the throwing spears. They have stats geared to an all around play style, which as you know; doesn't really matter much. They become a Paladin after Generation 2, or they can become a Dark Knight which gives them the active skill Control of Darkness which lets them tame an enemy to fight for them.
Q: Is this game Pay to Win?
A: Is any MMORPG not Pay to Win? Alright, real answer; let's break it down. Does Mabinogi have Pay to Win properties? Absolutely it does. Most if not all MMORPGs do. FFXIV has the paid level boosts just like Mabinogi has paid gacha boxes with end game loot. I'm not trying to pick on FFXIV here, it's just what I'm familiar with because I also play it. Truth is, Mabinogi gives you a lot of gold for just doing content, whether you're a crafter who can sell your wares for millions, just doing daily Fynni gems for 1m a week per character, or combat focused and running your Lord missions with boosts for a few million in a couple hours. So while I'd argue that it absolutely is pay to win, not only do you not need those minor boosts from the gear until long into the later generations; you also will have the money to buy it off players long before you actually need it. That's if you need it at all, since you can easily get ahead in this game by just engaging with the many skills and mechanics. If I had to give this a simple yes or no, the answer is yes; but I really don't think it's nearly as bad in Mabinogi as it is in other games. Especially considering how small the PvP scene in this game is. You don't need to pay to win when someone else in your party absolutely did, or maybe you just pay in gold to win. However I'd argue that it's pay to win FASTER than others. Just take it slow and enjoy the journey. Every game is pay to win, Mabinogi handles it better than most.
Q: Is there any reason for me to not like this game?
A: Yea the devs haven't hired me to write articles like this for their marketing. Boycott worthy honestly; they should pay me for this, or at least make me a soul streamer, you know? (ā”¬ā”¬ļ¹ā”¬ā”¬) ^ This last one is a joke, you know; in case reading comprehension.

Note
i get what you mean but some of us actual enjoy the game and genuinely don't have the same issues as you with bugs. Yeah there are issues. But it's still a fun game. Pissing on the people who enjoy it and are happy to pay for it isn't going to make the game better. Especially since the last few packs have been really good? Like...
EA has never cared about customer enjoyment. If the majority of people pirate the game, they aren't going to change anything about it, they'll just shelve it.
I don't wanna start a whole debate on this, so I'll answer this one ask and that's it.
First, yes, I fully understand that there are a ton of people who very much enjoy playing the game. But I want you to consider this... If someone has bought all the expansions, all the packs, all the kits... they've spent over 1 200,00$.... The sims is a great game, but it is not a game worth that much money. Or at the very least... it shouldn't be. This should be an unacceptable price tag. If the basegame came out with all the available content that exists for the sims 4, but at that price... who the fuck would buy that.
Being scared that the game will be shelved, that they won't ever make another game ever again... You're just saying, eh, this kinda sucks but I'm absolutely powerless to do anything about this, so I don't care, I'll keep participating in this vicious cycle.
It's not true though. You aren't powerless. Because EA knows they can make money out of the sims franchise for a loooong time still. And they've invested a shit ton into it. They won't give up on it that easily. If people stop buying while saying: I'm not buying because you're charging too much. Or, I'm not buying because this content isn't polished enough, or whatever else people have as valid complaints... Then yes, if enough people did that, I believe it would change EA's business strategy. They would try to make a thing so good people can't resist buying it, instead of just making trailers that seem great, but with a product that ends up not nearly as polished and well-thought-out as advertised. I don't know if you've watched people reviewing the latest expansions, but even on a technical level, no one's been impressed. Yet people still buy, so of course EA won't change their strategy.
Big companies like EA want to make you believe that there's nothing you can do even though YOU'RE THE CUSTOMER, it's YOUR money, and you DESERVE a product worth that hard-earned money. Same way companies never want their employees to unionize, and the government wants you to think it's normal not to have free healthcare. (though i'm canadian so it's, you know, a different problem here concerning healthcare)
Anyway, I'm rambling and my socialism is showing lmao. But tbh, this is a very moot point, because me making this post is never ever in a million years gonna make a DENT in EA's pocket. You are majorly overestimating my influence.
If you wanna keep giving your money to EA, just do it man. I certainly can't stop you.
