Well hey there, I’m Nueroticbutsymbolic.

I’ve been amateurly writing poetry in a variety of styles since 2014.

My whole entire life I’ve fought. To eat. To be loved. To be seen. To be heard. To be accepted and to fit in. I’ve fought for those who couldn’t fight, and I stood right beside those who could.

After years of fighting, it turned to silence and the silence, well, it turned into poetry- poetry I read now and think how? Why? How did this young, damaged, and hopeless teenager not only survive, but also manage to create beauty within an absolutely blackened environment?

The answer to both the how and the why is simply survival.

Finding comfort in that chaos allowed me to accept what I was and remind myself of what I wasn’t- and what I am not, is apologetic.

What I am though, is unapologetically neurotic.

Here, I’ll be anonymously posting some of my neuroticism as I compile all my work into a manuscript of sorts. Follow along for the official publish date drop.

By the way, this month I've been posting a Let's Play of Dark Sector, Digital Extremes' single-player console shooter from 2008, where I engage in its hardest difficulty, find every upgrade, and make comparisons to both the original very-Warframe-like concept video years earlier and Warframe as it is today! It's honestly crazy that discussion around testosterone HRT skews so much towards the beginning stages of it (to the point that you have dozens of guys thinking their transition is "failed" if they don't pass by like a year in lol) and what the initial changes of the first couple of months to years look like, like the classic laundry list of those early basic changes like bottom growth, voice drop, etc, when IMO literally none of that compares remotely to the depth and intensity of the long term total masculinization you start to experience like 3-5+ years in.

Start helping with citizen science projects

What's a citizen science project? Basically, it's crowdsourced science. In this case, crowdsourced climate science, that you can help with!

You don't need qualifications or any training besides the slideshow at the start of a project. There are a lot of things that humans can do way better than machines can, even with only minimal training, that are vital to science - especially digitizing records and building searchable databases

Like labeling trees in aerial photos so that scientists have better datasets to use for restoration.

Or counting cells in fossilized plants to track the impacts of climate change.

Or digitizing old atmospheric data to help scientists track the warming effects of El Niño.

Or counting penguins to help scientists better protect them.

Those are all on one of the most prominent citizen science platforms, called Zooniverse, but there are a ton of others, too.

Oh, and btw, you don't have to worry about messing up, because several people see each image. Studies show that if you pool the opinions of however many regular people (different by field), it matches the accuracy rate of a trained scientist in the field.

I spent a lot of time doing this when I was really badly injured and housebound, and it was so good for me to be able to HELP and DO SOMETHING, even when I was in too much pain to leave my bed. So if you are chronically ill/disabled/for whatever reason can't participate or volunteer for things in person, I highly highly recommend.

cant tell you how bad it feels to constantly tell other artists to come to tumblr, because its the last good website that isn't fucked up by spoonfeeding algorithms and AI bullshit and isn't based around meaningless likes

just to watch that all fall apart in the last year or so and especially the last two weeks

there's nowhere good to go anymore for artists.
