PLEASE DON'T TAKE THIS AS ACTUAL ADVICE! I have no idea about the American/British education system and only got a rough idea by googling and watching youtube videos. So if what I wrote made no sense, that'll be why xd

Where I live, high schools are way different and colleges don't exist, at least not to my knowledge. In our high schools, there's only grades and no credits, you get those only at university or at something that is a mix of high school and uni. So there's no honors classes or AP classes.

That said, there is something that you could somewhat compare the honor student thing to. If you have straight A's in all classes on your graduation exam, they write "passed with excellent success" on your final high school certificate. If you have a couple B's in there, they write "passed with good success". And anything else is just "passed" or "not passed". If you work a job after high school, some employers will look out for the "excellent" or "good", but 99% of the time, it doesn't matter. In university, they only care about your GPA in percent, which decides if you get in or not, but that also depends on what you study.

Also, apologies I took this long to respond, I procrastinated looking into all this for a while 🙈

Here’s a one-shot I wrote for Hunk’s birthday today! Happy birthday Hunk!!!!

Hunk was suddenly woken up by the sound of movement and soft voices going in and out of the hallways connecting the paladins’ rooms.

He rubbed his eyes gently and slowly opened them, squinting and blinking a couple of times to adjust to the light in the room.

His room was set up the same way as the rest of the paladins’ were; facing the room in the doorway, you could see his neatly made bed with blue sheets and a white pillow inset into the wall on the left side, as well as a new nightstand with an analog clock on top, with soft yellow numbers for the time and date, with small pictures of him and his family alongside it.

Hunk turned his head to look at the analog clock, noting the time being 9:00 a.m.

9:00 A.M.?????

Hunk quickly shot out of bed in shock- he had never slept that late; not since becoming the Yellow Paladin of Voltron that is.

He got out of his pyjamas and into his normal day clothes, and ran out of his room into the control room, hoping to find the rest of the paladins there.

Breathing heavily, Hunk was surprised to not find anyone there.

‘Wasn’t there supposed to be a mission for us to do today? Huh, maybe we don’t have any matters to attend to today… weird.’ He thought to himself.

He then began to make his way back to the kitchen area; the second place he deduced he would find the others at, but he was caught by his old friend Lance, the Blue Paladin.

“Hunk! My man! It’s good to see you, whatcha up to?” Lance’s excited, tenor voice rang through the room, made even brighter by his brilliant smile.

His blue eyes seemed to light up when he saw him, which Hunk thought was oddly sweet.

“Oh, uh, just trying to find you guys. I realized I woke up super late today and thought that we had a mission but then I went in here and realized we didn’t so now I’m headed to the dining room to see if the rest of yall are in there.” Hunk replied in his still slightly groggy, deep baritone voice.

Lance nodded then continued: “Well that’s exactly where I came from! I was just about to invite you to come eat breakfast with us actually!”

‘Breakfast? Don’t I usually prepare breakfast though..?’ Hunk thought to himself.

“Uh, sure yeah! Let’s go. Thank you!”

“Okay, is everything ready?” Shiro, the black paladin and leader of Voltron, asked the others in the dining room.

The paladins had spent all morning preparing the room in celebration of Hunk’s birthday today, decking it out in bright yellow streamers, gold and white balloons, and other decorations in the same theme. They had also (very very tediously) prepared a birthday cake in his favorite flavor- provided by Lance and Pidge, which was hiding in the fridge for his arrival.

“I think so,” Keith, the red paladin began. “What do you think, Pidge? You think he’s gonna like it?”

They answered back: “Yeah! I’m sure he’s going to love it. Nice work guys!”

Coran, Allura, and the rest of the paladins smiled in accomplishment, proud of what they had done.

“Alright, now we just need to wait for Lonce to come back with Hunk, and we’re all set!” Allura exclaimed.

Keith chuckled and replied jokingly, “It’s Lance, not ‘Lonce’, Allura.” Making sure to over-enunciate the ‘an’ in Lance’s name to emphasize his point.

“Oh whatevah.” Allura’s thick accent echoed off the walls in the rectangular dining room, and everyone laughed jovially.

Hunk and Lance walked down the hallways towards the dining hall, and when they got close, Lance stopped them for a second.

Hunk noticed he stopped in his tracks and slowed to a stop next to him, asking “What is it, Lance? Is something wrong?”

“No,” Lance began. “let me do something real fast, your hair is a bit messed up.”

Lance went behind Hunk and pretended to fix his hair, then after a couple seconds, pulled his orange bandanna down in front of his eyes so he couldn’t see.

“Wagh, Lance, what- what are you doing??” Hunk exclaimed, alarmed.

“Hold on, let me lead you. And doN’T TAKE OFF THE BANDANA.” Lance explained, trying to hold off a laugh.

“But- I- I don’t- ugh. Fiiiiine.” Hunk stammered, then sighed in resignation.

Lance put his hands on his shoulders and walked him down the hallway until they reached the dining hall.

Once they got there, Lance told him to stop and to close his eyes. Lance lifted his bandana up above his eyes and back to where it was originally on his head.

He then quickly got in front of him, took a couple steps back; getting in front of the rest of the paladins, and began to count off.

“Hey Hunk! On the count of three, open your eyes, okay???” He shouted excitedly.

“Uh, okay!!” Hunk shouted back hesitantly.

“On three! One. Two, THREE!!!!”

Hunk opened his eyes and blinked a couple of times in surprise as he watched the rest of his team yelling a very enthusiastic “Happy Birthday!!!”, surrounded by yellow, gold, and white birthday decorations all around the dining room.

“I- Guys… this is so awesome, y'all didn’t have to-”

“Of course we did, Hunk! It’s your birthday and you’re our best friend!” Pidge replied excitedly. Their brown eyes seemed to gleam through their circular rimmed, slightly too-big glasses in excitement.

Hunk walked into the room, speechless as he admired all the decorations and the thoughtfulness, love, and carefulness put into the whole spectacle.

“He really loves all this doesn’t he?” Keith asked softly as Lance approached him and sidled up next to him.

He put his hand on Keith’s shoulder and replied: “Yeah, he sure does.”

He looked down at Keith gently and lovingly and pulled him a little closer, into a semblance of a side-hug. Keith leaned his head on Lance’s shoulder and Lance leaned his head on Keith’s as they watched Hunk admire all the hard work they’d put in for him that morning.

“And now, for the best part!” Coran began in his thick Scottish accent.”

“Three, two, one! Happy birthday to you… happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Hunk… Happy birthday to you! And many more deca-phoebs…….”

All the paladins cheered and laughed once they finished singing.

“Thank you Coran, that was wonderful. And guys, this- this is beautiful. I mean, I love it. Thank you all so much…” Hunk began to tear up a little bit and smiled brightly, turning back around to face the rest of the paladins.

“Oh Hunk-” Shiro walked up to him and gave him a soft yet tight hug, then the rest of the paladins joined in.

“We love you Hunk. Happy birthday, man.” Lance said warmly.

“Thanks guys. I love y’all too.”

The paladins brought out the cake they made for Hunk, as well as the birthday presents soon afterwards. He opened them up and ate his cake with the others, being very impressed with the quality and taste. They all then proceeded to watch Hunk’s favorite movie in Lance’s room, being that he is the only one with a TV in it. All in all, Hunk had a wonderful birthday with the paladins on the Castle Of Lions, and strengthened the bond with himself and his teammates even more.

Will Wood’s Slouching Toward Bethlehem/Branson Tour - Tucson, Arizona, Rialto Theatre

sorry i have a lot i need to say about this, it was great! It was great! First of all, it was great!

THE EXPERIENCE

Such a whirlwind!!! I wish I had a perfect memory it feels like such a waste to not be able to recall everything perfectly in its entirety!!! I really hope this show gets like the recordings uploaded somewhere, (not Tucson specifically, the man was very sick, so probably not firing on all cylinders, (but he could’ve fooled me!!)) I really need to know that I can hold on to that night just a little bit longer because it was so beautiful genuinely but my mind is flawed and it lets things slip away far too quickly. And it’s not like I was just NOT paying attention I WAS. I WAS. It was just such a barrage of AMAZING stuff that I genuinely could not keep up, I wanted every moment to last forever, but time kept marching on (as it does) and by the end of the show it felt like there was a little world that existed in that theatre and nowhere else, and when it had ended and I was horribly sad to see it go, but at least I was wearing some pants. Seriously, I’m so glad I could be there that night, I think the best word to describe the experience would just be “WOW!”

He preformed …Well, Better than the Alternative during this show and i actually quite liked the part where he slipped up and sang, “everybody’s in on my goddamn business, this isn’t my first krissss it’s………… fuck. BABY COULD YOU PLAY-“ i quite liked that part like yeah. sure maybe he messed up the lyrics but he handled it like a champ and also (i just learned this) his gf’s name is Christina (Kristina?) so perhaps he was just thinking about her u ever consider that huh? oh what u hate love??? u hate ppl who r in love??? give me a fucking break…..

How i shat the bed (unimportant)

I showed up at 5:00 p.m. because I was a little VIP, and I was freaking the FREAK OUT. I was freaking out man I don’t think I’ve ever been that scared to watch someone ELSE preform before but I was like a MESS. Will Wood was very sick (physically this time) (hahahah mental illness is funny!) so I couldn’t ask him to sign what I wanted him to sign but i got a FREE tote and The New Normal CD SIGNED so whatevah whatevah!!! But, listen, I went up to Will Wood, I was right there, in the perfect position to say all the things i had rehearsed in the time leading up to the show. and i fucking i forgot to say literally anything. i dont think i even said “hi,” i had two months to prepare just ONE statement for him and i totally shat the bed BUT HE WAS EXTREMELY KIND DESPITE THIS!! HE LIKE STILL SAID “THANK YOU” IN A MANNER THAT I WOULD CONSIDER TO BE EXTREMELY GENUINE!!! AND FUCKING. I ASKED HIM ABOUT REVELATOR (cringe?) AND I FORGOT TO TELL HIM TO TELL CHRIS DUNNE THAT THE WRITING WAS GREAT BUT THATS FINE IM SURE CHRIS ALREADY KNOWS DUE TO THE EPISODE DISCUSSIONS OR THE FEEDBACK CHANNEL ON DISCORD. BUT HE WAS VERY NICE AND VERY FUNNY and in a natural way too, like, if he was forcing it then he is better at improv acting than i thought! (JOKE) no but seriously obviously a lot of stuff had gone wrong leading up to that show but at the end of the day, Will and everyone else involved did a fantastic fucking job and i really commend their ability to do such good work despite the disease. And I’m so glad I got to be in the crowd of such an awesome show!

SPOILERS!

I like it like a friend from a hundred years ago: 

First and foremost, NATLA predominantly consists of Asian American Pacific Islanders. Good for them for creating a version that is more in their lens and creativity. 

The Bendiiing. All of the elements, except for Earth, are 10/10. I really want it to be more solid, especially on AangvsBumi. It’s not that bad though, so much better than…well u know. I’ll give it an 8/10. 

I rewatched it with a Filipino dub and it’s good, 9/10. Aang VO was convincing as a kid, so either they’re a great actor or a great kid actor. The jokes (Sokka’s sarcasm) hits better on my mother tongue

The costume. The only one that I do agree with everyone else that lacks is Zuko’s scar. They should’ve put prosthetics on the eyebrow. 

Zuko’s hair? Hello? They did a great job. Even though my sister and I sing Ariana Grande song whenever we see them swaying. It’s an integral part of his story, and I loved that they keep it. There’s an East Asian culture that indicates that kind of haircut as a punishment. I remember my History teacher taught me this in eighth grade but I forgot which it was, my bad. And the actor’s such a champ for having that hair IRL. 

My favorite actor performances: Gordon (Aang) superb acting. Liz (Azula). Utkarsh (Bumi). Justin Wong (Chong/SecretTunnelguy) sounds exactly like the character. Made up for my delusional expectation that Dee Bradley Baker would be in this. Ken Leung (Zhao) pisses me off so much, and that means he’s doing a great job. Dallas (Zuko) & Iroh (Paul). DDK's(Ozai) a natural idk if that's acting /j

Was it established in the OG that Katara's intro is a folklore/legend? Because yeah, I don’t mind that it is considered that way in this version. 

AAAAA, the Lieutenant Jee younger casting makes so much sense now! The 41st division is chef kiss. Zuko cryiiiing when he was being banished!? Dallas Lui ate! 

THE HYBRID ANIMALS LOOOK SO GOOD. The ostrich horse blended well with whoever rides them. It doesn’t look CGI to me. MOMO HIS MOMONESS, MOMO OF THE MOMO DYNASTY

How Ozai’s forced unity/being totalitarian is represented. Reminds me so much of our own government, it amuses me. I know it’s not directly referencing that though. It’s good that they show it early on I guess. With the Fire Nation culty greeting as well. 

On a lighter note: THE AIR SPHERE/BALL whatevah, yes! More of this goofiness. How about instead of being inspired by GOT, NATLA should be inspired by Stranger Things in terms of fantasy + childhood simplicity balanced by this trauma they're going through. (Well, ST lacks worldbuilding cause it’s just normal Earth but anyway) 

Kyoshi Takeoveeer. I hope Roku gets more screen time someday though. Pls pls pls. 

They incorporated the OG character theme songs! Of course! The ones I noticed right away are the FireNation Siblings’. So if you watched OG Avatar and you watched the scene where a mysterious girl joins the infiltration of the FN Royal Palace, you’ll know who she is. 

Sorry not sorry, Daddy Dae Kim is daddying. (Although he did catch me off guard in Zuko’s Agni Kai lmao.) The plot.

The Aang VS Zuko fight! A reference to the Fortune Teller fight. The team did so well.

A fourth wall foreshadows Bumi’s OOC for this version. Jet’s "he’s not like he used to be" in line. I mean they did warn us.

Nice animation with the retelling of Two Lovers legend.

Lu Ten Funeral scene ate. That single teaaaar. I recommend everyone who loves the animation to watch this scene. To feel something idk AHAHAHAH. 

The actors were convincing when interacting with CGI animals. Specifically the badger moles.

CGI’s great did not waste any money 

In Katara’s flashback. She experienced this in her present form. And when she was so scared to go to the place where her mom was killed, she immediately changed back to her young self. Like, I wanted that so bad when I was watching the flashback. I thought, this shouldn’t be the present-day Katara. There should be a moment when she switches back to young again. And they did. 

Big Iroh-like moment that makes you cry as an adult when Gyatso was reassuring Aang that the genoc*de wasn’t his fault, and shouldn’t blame himself. Ahh, and the subtle sadness as they say goodbye.

Basically every scene/plot they 1 by 1 copy from the show. Did not disappoint (well, maybe because OG showrunners were there). Blue Spirit, Siege of the North. 

Zuko’s room. I love me some character bedrooms. He’s like a TV Sitcom character for that. 

Gaang teamwork scenes! It works and it's dynamic. 

Hahn as an honorable man? Yes. I don’t like love triangles so much. I like me some camaraderie. And Ian (Sokka) acted well for feeling included and seen as Hahn recognized his value as warrior/intel. 

Zutara fight scene.

Two points that I don’t know if I like but it makes me realize some stuff:

Meek Katara. I know there are specific plot points that Feisty Katara is needed. But she was always nurturing, so I think it makes sense she’s…meek? That Jet scene explains it. Maybe because I relate to her being a log AHAHAHAH. But yeah, uh, I do not, ironically, have strong feelings against that water down.

Angry Bumi. IDK how to feel about him tbh. I always think Bumi is…harsh like that. Almost scary. But yeah, he never blames Aang. Still, it doesn’t feel out of place here. He will return anyway so he’s not this one-dimensional character that is only angry at his friend (hopefully). I never thought of how Bumi would actually feel. And that he will be upset, and now it’s sad because that’s like your friend when you were twelve years old and you wonder where he’s been all this time, and if he’s alive. And..war..never made it any better to process that emotion. So, we got two versions, one that is cautious and then eventually welcomes him, and another who's completely angry and blames a literal kid that he does not know the pain (from the war). Too real, and I personally don’t mind.

finished batman caped crusader! aughrbhebkernje. sjdhdhd. yeah it was good but man that finale dropped the ball lmao. this version of harvey was probably the biggest highlight for me here and killing him just feels so safe. safe and boring. especially since it really didnt feel like they even went super deep into him - hell, they only ever so slightly referenced his DID. and then they tease the joker and its like okay... i dont care. other than that disappointment, i had a lot of fun. the animation style was probably the biggest hurdle, and it never really grew on me, but the acting and character writing was strong enough to make up for it most of the time. i'll watch s2 if/when it comes out or whatevah 🙄

best episodes: kiss of the catwoman, nocturne, and the killer inside me
