Portgas D. Ace x F!Reader drabble

Summary: The battle of Marineford ended with Ace alive and you fighting for your life. With a healing devil fruit ability, it only made sense for you to take the hit instead. Now, Ace is left to agonize over the events as he waits for you to wake up. Marineford rewrite. Angst. Ace is beating himself up and other descriptions of anxiety. Desc. of violence and near death experiences. Reader is the one hurt.

Ace sits on the cold floor, knees to his chest, hands pushed back into his hair. He had run out of tears but anxiety still squeezes at his throat. Accusations fire off in his mind, going in rounds and coming back with even more heat each time. The racing thoughts are accompanied by flickers of fire- flames he has to quickly extinguish on his chest and shoulders.

He had already been scolded by the surgeon of death once for this.

Deep in the ocean within the confines of the Polar Tang, Ace waits with his heart in his throat for the people he cares for the most in the world to get out of surgery. A surgery that shouldn’t even be happening on injuries that he caused. It was all his fault.

Images flash in his mind like a strobing light, and your screams echo above all else to make him claw at his scalp. It was driving him mad. Not knowing was making it worse. Being kicked out of the operating room nearly made him combust but the bear- something Ace couldn’t even question given the situation- assured him that his captain could handle it. That Ace could leave his girl and his little brother and close friend in the surgeon of deaths capable hands.

His eyes squeeze shut and that only makes things worse.

He can see your face.

Your labored breaths.

The life draining despite the red glow of power illuminating from your hands…

Ace had been quick. He was in place to protect his brother from his own bullheadedness. Unfortunately for him, you were right behind. All of your energy put into throwing yourself into Ace and taking his place.

A desperate scream.

He isn’t even sure if it had come from you or him. But he watches in horror as you drop to your knees before him and Luffy, on the cusp of dying right before their eyes. For the first time ever, Ace yelled at you. Truly yelled at you.

Because now, there was a gaping hole in your chest where it should have been his.

“Why would you do that?” The tears are flowing freely. Emotions storm and spark. Anger. Hurt. Desperation.

“Ease-“ You choke on your words. “Easier ta heal m-m’ self.” He can see your blood stained hands pressing into the wound, your eyes closed, and palms glowing.

There were many times where you had explained your healing devil fruit powers to Ace, but it was a concept that he never fully grasped. You were a healer, he knew that very well, as you often fussed over and took care of any bump or bruises he ended up with.

But you could also heal yourself. Once, after having taken a bullet for a crew mate, you had explained that it was far easier to heal yourself than others. Sure, you felt the pain, but the effects were gone soon after. While the power was a blessing, Ace often cursed it for how reckless it made you. Protecting others was a top priority. Taking the hit so others don’t have to endure the pain.

And now you’re here. With his little brother and close friend in the same operating room after helping Ace save you.

After putting you all in danger.

The metal door swings open and Ace is on his feet in an instant. Law maintains his usual stoic demeanor, but the eye bags are a little bit deeper after such a long series of surgeries.

“I did everything I possibly could.”

Anger sparks within Ace at the carelessness about him. “What does that mean?”

“We’ll just have to wait and see. They all took on a lot more damage than most could survive.” Law speaks in an even, tired voice. “Even with her healing powers,” He glances down at the white towel he dries his hands on. “There’s no guarantee she will survive.”

Agony.

Ace nearly collapses on the spot.

The next few days are a blur. Jinbe is the first to recover, steadily regaining his strength and joining Ace in looming over the two of you. Ace doesn’t even leave your side until Luffy wakes- fists flying and screaming bloody murder. Still in fight or flight mode.

Even when a feast is prepared by the Snake Princess herself for his little brother, he remains rooted in place. He had no interest in the isle of women or even the food they had to offer. Not when you were still hooked up to so many tubes in that bed.

Ace squeezes at your hand for the millionth time that day, arms folded on the side of the bed, and head leaning on top of them. He rambles on with his daily list of apologies and mixes in countless reason he was in love with you. Why he needed you. Why he wishes it was him in that bed.

His eyes squeeze shut to his daily horror show that played on repeat any time he closed his eyes. “You’re so stubborn.” He huffs out, lips grazing over your fingers as he speaks. “Should be me.” A shaky breath leaves him as his lips press into your skin.

That’s when he hears it. A grunt. A muttering sound that didn’t even form real words, but they didn’t have to.

His heart soars.

Ace shoots up straight to look at you as your nose scrunches up and your eyes squeeze tight. Your eyes flickering open is like a shot of adrenaline right through him and he has to hold himself back from tugging you into his chest.

His brain short circuits as he grabs your hand once again, delighted at the feeling of you weakly squeezing back.

Calling for Law was the next step, the doctor checking you over now that you were awake. He rambles on about the recovery process, warning you from using any healing ability before you regain your strength, before leaving the two of you alone.

Ace looks at you with all the love and adoration in his gaze. For the first time in days, you’re able to gaze back at him. Weakly, a hand reaches out to him and he’s leaning over the bed to allow it to fall against his cheek. He places a hand over yours to prolong the touch, leaning into with eyes squeezed shut, and for the first time he doesn’t see the vision of you bleeding out on the battle field. No, now all he sees is your eyes finally opening.

“Ace.” Your voice is scratchy and dry.

Tears prick in his eyes at the sound of his own name coming out of your mouth. “Yeah, doll?”

“ ‘M glad I did it.”

His brows pull together as the words hang in the air. Then he laughs. It’s breathy and unfamiliar after the days he has endured. “What?”

“You said it should have been you.” You beckon him closer and he follows. “But i’m glad it wasn’t.” A smile pulls to your cracked lips. “I would never want to live in a world without Portgas D. Ace. Because you deserve to be alive.” Your forehead leans against his as he chokes back a sob. “I’d do it a thousand times over if it meant keeping you safe because i’m so in love with you.”

And that effectively breaks him.

“Say it again.” He pleads as he hesitantly embraces you, careful not to cause anymore harm. “Please.”

“I love you.” You repeat as your eyes well up in tears. “I’m so in love with you.” Leaning into his embrace felt like all of the relief that you needed. “I love you so much.”

“I love you.” Ace sobs freely into your arms.

I literally saw someone say laios is too autistic for romance... you guys HAVE to start being respectful to autistic people. like I know he's just a character but its emblematic of real problems. Even if it's just a joke, it is NOT FUNNY to perpetuate ableism in the form of jokes. I see like a thousand posts a day about how he has autistic swag and in the SAME POST joke about how his friends actually hate him, nobody could REALLYYY like him they're all just pretending <3, he's too autistic for sex or romance or love.

He has canonical problems in the text with people pretending to be his friend, or people secretly hating him. We've gone over and over again about how divorcing autistic people and characters from sex and romance on the whole is infantilizing. (individual ace/aro headcanons are fine, but maybe also examine where they're coming from when its characters widely seen as autistic). I feel like a lot of fans don't even realize what they're doing. oftentimes what you think is funny fan content is actually you making fun of him and excluding him from things based on his autistic traits.

And this isn't even MENTIONING the racism in making kabru be aggressive to laios for no reason all the time when kabru has genuine reason and understanding even when he thinks he might need to kill laios. OR how weird it is that people will boil down falin's autistic traits for farcille and say like "yeah she's similar to laios, but she's less of a 'freak' (AKA has developed people pleasing social skills) so marcille likes her still :)"

Okay so, I want to preface this with some clarifications. I'm going to assume most of yall know a baseline definition of asexuality as "when you don't experience sexual attraction." Without getting too into the nuance here, take note of the following:

Being asexual does not mean you hate sex. Some asexuals like sex. Some asexuals have sex.

Asexuals can get crushes and fall in love

Being asexual doesn't mean you have sexual trauma or are a prude or w/e

Also:

I am asexual and I think by online discourse logic that means I'm right about everything I say in this essay.

You're free to respectfully disagree honestly I'd love to hear other takes on this.

So recently I reblogged this post that joked something along the lines of "We still don't know if Liu Qingge knows what sex is." And I thought that was a) hella funny and b) kinda true. Do I think he literally doesn't know what sex is? With that sister?? Yeah no I think he knows. But I imagine he doesn't really understand that sex is just kind of a big deal for most people and expected in typical relationships. I mean, I doubt sexual attraction really often discussed amongst cultivators anyway, so if one doesn't experience it, it a) wouldn't make one too much of an outsider and b) one would just assume this is the universal norm. In my reading of canon, he definitely has a crush on Shen Qingqiu, but I don't think he has the sexual attraction. To the contrary, I imagine that he finds the thought of sexual contact with his crush very unbecoming. Perhaps it even contributes to his dislike of Luo Binghe and the BingQiu relationship. I could even spin this into a whole thing where he could be coping with internalised homophobia because he doesn't want to have sex with men so it's fine, right? We know that in general, Shen Yuan is a pretty unreliable narrator when it comes to observing other characters' reactions. But I did find some of his thoughts about Liu Qingge during the Succubi extra very interesting. For those who don't know/recall - in this extra chapter, SQQ and LQG investigate a Succubus hideout and LQG gets affected by what is essentially an Aphrodisiac. SQQ notes that LQG is visibly distressed, but also shows absolutely no signs of desire to act on it in any way – almost as though he doesn't have experience with sexual desire. He's also clearly uncomfortable and angry with his body's reaction – not an uncommon reaction in (particularily sex-repulsed) asexuals experiencing libido. I really like to imagine an AU where LiuShen happened and they're just cute and cuddling and maybe get in a few kisses and after a few months Shen Qingqiu is like "… So are we gonna fuck or like…?" And LQG would be FLOORED because surely that's not a thing people actually do – right?! That's a thing for forbidden porn ballads and demons! I also like to imagine they actually try it and he ends up kinda liking it and unpacking his baggage but he still doesn't get the attraction.

Yall were seriously starving for this essay so I hope I at least kinda delivered. I felt like I had more to say about this but *gestures* stuff happened and my brain isn't super on top of things rn.

and so on a sunny wednesday lunch break you find yourself sitting at your usual table, surrounded by your fellow first years. you spot jade a few tables away, menacingly glaring at some poor unfortunate student, and send him a quick wave when your eyes meet.

“–nd i kid you not he genuinely folded. so like the great person i am, i used the newly placed hallway carpet.”

“ya stepped on him?!” a few droplets of apple juice land near your plate. you shoot a quick look at epel, only to see the rest of the table doesn’t look much better, since he spat all the juice in his mouth out at this newfound piece of information (read: blackmail material).

deuce sighs in his seat to your left, “yeah, he did. i had to watch malleus’ face go from perplexed to absolutely horrified in the span of barely 5 seconds because of him. thought we were gonna die.”

epel finds this unfathomably hilarious. sebek, however, has not spoken in the past 10 minutes, despite usually being the loudest of the group. you feel a little bad for him– the poor thing has just been staring at his plate with a scarlet face this whole time. yet just as you open your mouth to try to console him, lilia appears out of seemingly thin air, hanging upside down directly in front of your face.

“hey faestie!~ a little bat told me the headmage has something important to discuss with you! you best hurry before he changes his mind, kuhuhu~”

and just as swiftly as he appeared, he also vanished. where his face once was, you now see the horrified eyes of jack and epel, and sebeks full face for the first time today.

you turn to the right to glance at ace with an eyebrow raised, silently asking if they've done anything bad without your knowledge. he shakes his head, fluffy ginger hair flying with the motion, and gives you a concerned look (which seems a little out of place on his face when directed at you, but you quickly dismiss the thought).

“i’ll be fine,” you say, slowly getting up from your spot and cleaning up your mess, “it’s probably just another unpaid job he wants me to do. i’ll see you guys later.

“with all due respect, what the fuck?”

crowley lets out the most offended gasp you've ever heard, “that is no way to be speaking in my office! this is unacceptable behavior! but since i am so gracious, i shall let it pass, because you have clearly not yet processed my generous offer.”

you heave an exasperated sigh, the seven know you're tired of this, “if i heard you right, you basically just said i have magic? like, actually? you're joking, right? i mean, come on, i've been here for like half a year and the only magic i can produce is manslaughter. be so for real with me right now.”

crowley's glowing eye twitches (at least, you think it does. it’s really hard to tell, honestly) “yes, that is basically what i said. see, the carriage did not bring you here by mere accident, despite it being through..”  he pauses, taking a seat in his gigantic chair, “unfortunate means. if it brought you here, it means it sensed something within you. so i’ve had some tests run in the background, and as it turns out, you do have a magical affinity, it just seems to be suppressed.”

you fall into the chair opposite him. whether it was because of your knees giving out from pure disbelief, or just because of how tired you are of everything, you're not really sure.

“it means you can use magic once we figure out how to unlock it. it means you can continue studying here as an actual student.”

you blankly stared at the wall, thinking your choices through thoroughly.

you can't go back to your world unless you want to be dead, so having a place to stay would be great. if you had magic it would certainly make life, and your classes, much easier. you would no longer have to rely on grim or the guys to protect you in case of an overblot, either. it sounded great, overall.

“so? what will it be?”

I don't get my fandom. They want more queer rep. The main cast is a bisexual femme woman with a preference for women, an aroace gender-indifferent AMAB man, a genderfluid all-pronouns using AMAB person with a beard who wears a dress, and a biromantic asexual bigender AMAB man who is agender + male. The supporting cast has a lesbian girl, a middle-aged ace het woman living semi-romantically with another woman who is the main cast's (emotional) adoptive mom, and a ambiguously queer character whose gender is never really confirmed or discussed.

A big criticism I also see is "the writing team is all cishet". One, we don't know that, someone could be closeted. Two, why is that a problem? I think it's great that they went, "this makes sense for who this character is. We don't have to force them to be cishetallo just because that's what you normally see in animation. Web animation can be different. This is who this person is and that's fine."

I'm 19. I talked to my half brother, who is 38, about this and he actually choked on his coffee. He said when he was my age, nothing like this was easily accessible for him. It would have been jaw-dropping representation for him. I asked about the writers being cishetallo and he said, "who fucking cares? I would've moved Heaven and Earth to see these characters hanging out and just fucking existing back then!"

I know you get a metric fuckton of asks, but I'd love to hear your take on this. You've been in the queer community way longer than I have (I've barely started interacting with queer people IRL; I grew up in rural Wyoming) and I do wonder what this debacle looks like to people in other age groups. I'd also be curious to know what older people would've thought if they'd seen this friend group in media when they were younger. I know it means a lot to me. But I feel like I don't get what it would have meant back then.

Well, written up like this, it might get an eye-roll for sounding like Captain Planet casting. (You know "One of A and one of B and one of C" in a way that feels kind of forced.)

But yes, I think most older queer people when looking at the actual canon would be like "Sweet! A cast full of queer characters!"

I grew up somewhere shockingly liberal for the 90s next door to some old, married lesbians (who still live there, as it happens). It still sucked for teenagers. I had an okay time, but I was always hearing about other teens having an awful time even as the adults in the same communities did okay. And that's a very, very good version of what it was like in the 90s.

I did have access to queer media, vastly more access than most teens had. It was still mostly art films, boring coming out memoir, and The Pain of Being a Minority serious literature. What I wanted was genre fiction with a romance b-plot between queer characters I found hot. There was a bit of that, but not much.

I don't know that I personally would have killed for the exact set of queer rep in a modern show, but that makes sense. There are plenty of identities that present about the same but where people have internal reasons for choosing one or another. There are different forces making one queer identity or another more embattled at a given point in time. So while broadly similar queer people have always existed, there actually are fads in identity to an extent. (This is different from "wharrgarbl, the blue hairs with their pronouns!!!", which is just people being ahistorical assholes.) Modern media does and should reflect these differences. It might be for me, but it's going to be for 40-something me, not teenage me if it's coming out right now. If it's for current teens, it's not for teen me.

But yeah, in a general sense, I agree with your brother: "Damn, we have so much today! That's cool!"

The kvetching is usually people being angry that it's not representing their exact slice of queerness instead of someone else's. Or, let's be honest, a lot of it is "You didn't make my ship happen! How dare?!" dressed up as activism.

One thing I will say is that teenagers were extremely dramatic in my day too, and black-and-white thinking was just as common. Looking a gift horse in the mouth is not new. Yes, your fandom is full of idiots, but I wouldn't read too much into it.

Is it bad that I think kiribaku as a ship is just dollar store bakudeku without all the drama(or you know the character growth and interesting parts) I like Kirishima as a character. No question. But when you compare him with all the history with Deku. It's just the ship to me doesn't have a lot of leg to stand on. I can definitely see them as friends. And Kirishima is definitely bi(maybe could even say Bakugo was his Bi awaking). But like the obesseion and history and growth between bakugo and Deku have with each other.

Kirishima's function in the story is to be someone that puts up with Bakugou's eccentricities early on before he's earned the respect of the rest of the class and repaired his relationship with Izuku. He is the best friend without the baggage so Bakugou has someone to interact with before bakudeku fully takes off in canon.

And those interactions are adorable! I love how quickly Kirishima starts dissecting Bakugou's language to find what he actually means and shrugs off his outburst because "he's just like that", and- yes there is something very not straight about Kirishima's obsession with manliness. Perhaps, it was that chivalrous passion that let him embrace his attraction to men so openly. Personally, I also enjoy ace Kirishima because it's really funny.

But- yeah. As a ship, post-license arc it's extremely bare bones. I don't like to tout the "they haven't even talked on screen in years" thing to write a ship off as invalid. Some of my favorite pairings are ones that never met in the first place. And I like kiribaku! There's a lot of cute ideas the fandom comes up with but, much like with izuocha, that also came with a lot of early fandom hostility that's very hard for me to shake. They weren't hopeful for canon development, they were INSISTENT. And looking back that the themes deeply ingrained in this story all revolving around Bakugou with Midoriya just makes it all look...silly.

I like it fine, but as a bakudeku truther, it's not easy to not see it as the same ship with the more interesting thematic depth stripped away. I think that's why I could never fully get on board. But people are all different, and I'm happy that others can enjoy it as is.

someone interpreting Jon as sex-favorable is fine. It’s a headcanon. We don’t ACTUALLY know bc there’s no sex scene or lack of sex scene. Because it doesn’t matter whether or not he has sex! It adds nothing to the overall story, but if you want to write smut with Jon, that’s fine!

Stop getting so uncomfortable, it’s a fictional character and these fics are hurting no one. Stop “calling people out” just because they’re writing something you don’t like. It’s like saying someone who writes detective novels is a cop or condones murder.

and most of the fics I’ve seen are by ace people who are projecting their own sexuality onto Jon, maybe even figuring out their asexuality through him. I realized a lot of my asexuality by reading some of these fics!

hell, even if you don’t like Jon having sex or feeling attraction to people, there’s fics where he ISNT attracted but will still have sex bc guess what! Even allo people have sex with people they aren’t attracted to! Bc they want to! Bc some people like having sex with others!

no ond is trying to erase Jon’s asexuality. You’re just mad because not everyone has the same headcanon as you. And guess what? You can block tags, block creators, you can block people on ao3, you can filter out smut on ao3, all of this is easily avoidable if you just curate your own expirience.

people are gonna write smut of any and every ace character. It’s not inherently acephobic to do so. Especially not when someone who is acespec is just projecting onto a fictional character who’s sexuality was left vague for that reason.

So I was doing a bit more sketching of stylized Cookies, though to be honest, the only ones from today and not my original run are Werewolf and Smoked Cheese

I’m having trouble coming up with eyes right now, as well as just figuring out who I want to draw. Also heads. And how much I want to take creative liberties

I stopped because I didn’t like how these ones were turning out, but to be honest, those old ones are perfectly fine, aside from maybe Financier, but I think I also drew her like, super early in the morning. Or at some other time, as the comment suggests, I don’t really know

I remember a couple of the concepts, like that Pomegranate doesn’t have a mouth. She does still speak and such, she just doesn’t have a visible mouth. Then with Knight, it’s supposed to be that he looks semi-intimidating with his helmet on, but without he looks pretty normal

Also I decided later that Fire Spirit’s head is just floating around, no neck

I feel like I made Werewolf look a bit silly, but I also kind of like how he looks. I might need to expand on him more

I also drew him and Dark Choco kissing just because darkwolf was on my mind. I remembered that I had previously drawn Dark Choco and Red Velvet kissing, so let’s just say polycule or something between them. Or not, since I still don’t have a definitive answer as to who I like to ship Dark Choco with

This is why I keep trying to make OCs to ship Dark Choco with, because I want him to be with someone, but I also don’t know who. But then the OCs never get fully designed because of some curse or other, or I end up putting them with a different character, so I keep trying again and again

I know ace Dark Choco can be a thing, and I mean canon wise, I can kind of see it (and also for his dad), but at the same time, I would be very happy if he got a canon love interest and just someone to love him, so I still want to ship him with someone, I just can’t decide who!

I'm summoning a bunch of you to witness what my brain dreamed up after reading a fanfic

One Piece Spoilers: Marineford! Don't spoil it for yourselves my dears, come back later!

Imagine if Roger had somehow managed to cure himself, and as a result Rouge had survived and rather than completely disband the Roger pirates kept on existing.

I feel like that would change a decent amount of what happened, particularly in relation to Wano...but not gonna talk too much about that.

Either way, Ace would be raised in the midst of that chaos and love right? I wonder if he'd ever be able to come across Luffy during his younger years...though the way I see it, Luffy might just sneak aboard the Oro Jackson after hearing all sorts of things from Shanks and now sure he's Garp's brat, but Roger's still adopted him. Kids don't bear the sins of their parents and all that y'know.

Roger might have thought that Luffy was Shanks' accidental kid at first. Shanks had to endure Rayleigh's agreement like he could absolutely see it.

Luffy doesn't know who his dad is at that point, so he probably innocently asks Shanks if he's gramps' son.

Which of course leads to who's gramps?

Then we can have the Ace warming up to Luffy thing all over again. I feel like Roger and Rouge both are over the moon at how protective and responsible their precious son is. I think the one time Roger has any kinda complaints is when Ace swiped the good sake to do the brotherhood toast as a kid. I feel like after the initial: you brat! Roger probably chilled out, even condoning the reasons.

Rayleigh was like: oi. This doting dumbass.

Anywho when Luffy and Ace go missing on an island with tons of wild animals and all that, the Roger pirates are not all that panicked. They were at first: OH NO LUFFY'S MISSING! Wait Ace is also missing.

"Oh they're gonna be fine."

"Roger...you doting dumbass, we still gotta find them, they're children."

"Yeah but Ace is my child...and that Luffy has to have something from his grandad."

"Dear, we still need to find our children."

"Of course, just leave it to me!"

They did find them, feasting on some massive animal Ace had taken out protecting Luffy. Ace just casually waves at them with his cheeks full of food.

Rayleigh is 11/10 the super cool uncle. Oden is 12/10 the weird but also super cool uncle. They haven't met Newgate yet...due to a weird string of coincidences, they don't until they're older. He loves them, just like canon.

Oh yeah, and Ace is like the most unintentionally well-kept secret out there. Like any up and coming teen, he also wants to prove himself and walk out of the shadow of his father's legacy. But now it's more about proving himself and less about not being associated with Roger. Nah those two are father-and-son and hilarious. Roger is doting in the weirdest way possible, and Ace actually respects his dad a whole lot - I think he gets pissed at all the false claims and gets into fights over them dissing his dad, but won't ever admit that's why he got into the fights.

(Rayleigh knows though, that man had a hunch after noticing a patter, then caught him red-handed and he wields it over Ace's head)

(Rouge also knows, she also noticed a pattern and after talking to Ace he fessed up to her. He's very weak to his mother, and she seemed so happy and proud of him, she told him his secret was safe with her)

(Roger doesn't know, hasn't got a clue, he just claps him on the back after finding out he won. That's his boy!)

(Luffy almost accidentally gave him away once, Ace shoved his serving of meat into his mouth and it shut him up)

Anyway determined to prove himself, especially given the crew still kinda babies him...kinda...he's a teen, he's sensitive to the way they don't seem to treat him like a man (TM) yet. Ace sets out on his own, gets his own crew does the whole Spades thing again - and all under the name Portgas D. Ace. Roger was INCONSOLABLE when he read that in the papers.

See when Ace first vanished with nothing more than a note (he bid Rouge a proper farewell that's his mother, Luffy also got to say a proper goodbye, that's his baby brother) Roger was all like: baby bird's gotta leave the nest and all that. He was the chillest guy about it, very supporting. But seeing that he isn't Gol D. Ace? Absolutely killer. Worse than getting clobbered by Newgate.

"At least it's Fire Fist Ace on the wanted posters," Rayleigh's chill about it, "the little brat got himself a hell of a first bounty."

Rouge on the other hand is very amused by the change in name. She isn't as happy that her son is a wanted man though. She blames Roger's influence. The man is in shambles, despite her teasing undertones - he can't hear them, not after he saw Portgas D. and not Gol D.

Thankfully, Rayleigh, ever the voice of reason: "well he can't use your last name when he's trying to prove himself, that'd be cheating."

Roger is still sulking a bit.

It was nothing compared to when he hears that Newgate, NEWGATE of all people has picked his son up. And he becomes aware of that AFTER Luffy has also embarked on his own amazing adventure.

Imagine the Oro Jackson pulling up near the Moby Dick because Roger has a bone to pick with both his kid and his friend/rival. The navy was panicking over the meeting...thinking something's up.

After being initially confused about Roger's seeming annoyance with him and the odd fit he's throwing, Whitebeard puts it all together when he hears someone stomping across the deck and sees Ace almost going off the railing, eyes bulging out of his skull at the sight of his doting dad.

of course, Whitebeard's got absolutely no problem being like: "do you have business with my son?"

"your son?"

Roger vs Whitebeard on the seas is a sight to see. The fight isn't as long as usual and at the end when they're all celebrating on one ship or another it's just a matter of:

"Oh he was a murderous lil' brat to begin with, came after my head, so I clobbered him and made him my son, didn't know he was yours, you're nothing alike."

"What do you mean we're nothing alike?" Roger is offended.

When Roger asks Ace why the heck he stayed, Ace casually says he enjoyed the company of the crew, at which point Marco points out he was made into second division commander very very quickly and so now the running theory (which is pretty much the truth) he earned the acknowledgement he wanted and so he felt like staying.

kinda wish that my preferred method of character analysis wasn’t through weird sex headcannons but here we are. i don’t think i hc Lucanis as ace but i do feel like sex is just. not at the forefront of his mind, most of the time. i think he prefers sensuality over The Thing That Makes You Cum (and then Feel Weird about it.) (yknow what i love that actually. yeah lucanis experiences pretty intense post-nut drop and edges to stave it off. canon to me now.) so yeah he just wants to take baths and let rook/neve shave him if they want and polish their shoes while they’re wearing them. sex is fine too but it’s not the goal.

Spite, i think, is similar but… not? i don’t think he fully gets sex or why people do it or how to do it right. lucanis is obviously no help. However. i think he feels intense cuteness aggression, which is basically just repackaged sadism. and i think with guidance could easily be nurtured into that. he’d be great at it. so as i said it’s similar to what lucanis has going on - sensuality over sexuality - except kinkier, i guess. but he’d definitely need kink explained to him. and he’s certainly not a daddy dom or whatever the fuck 😭being a sadist and being a dom are Not mutually exclusive and begging someone to let you hurt them is really hot, actually.

Okay, this is a really long one, so BUCKLE UP.

In the script, she's described as a tomboy (from what I've heard), but I've also read some hcs that she actually likes presenting fem, but that's just a hc (edit: this is actually canon, the tomboy style is a defence mechanism -> reblog by @specific-dreamer :)). She's very bold and will tell anyone what she thinks. She's more likely to show them, though; in Friday at the drive-in, she pushes Bob off of the tire, in Tulsa '67, she very openly flips off the socs... I don't know if we have any info on her family??? (Edit: we do, @specific-dreamer added on in the reblog :))

Almost all the greaser boys are always doing lifts with her or carrying her or whatnot. She doesn't mind either. She's always having fun. They all respect her, too.

She's friends with Dally. In the scene where they all come together after Ponyboy got jumped, she did a sort or handshake with him, so I feel like they get along fine.

She has this flirty friendship with Soda. People always wonder if they're joking or not (they are). For example, after Soda's verse in Grease Got A Hold (which was all about getting girls), he says: "Ain't that right, Ace?" and she answers with: "You wish." and shakes her ass a bit. I feel like they call each other the worst sappy pet names just to piss the other off.

Anyway, Ace and Darrel. Darrel is the most gentlemanly of the greasers. Everyone's respectful, but him especially. I think that out of everyone, Ace is the only person Darrel allows himself to be a bit more at ease with. During Hoods Turned Heroes, he lifts her up, and he's smiling. He also helps her onto the greasers' car when she could easily do it herself. A few other examples bc I love them to death: during Grease Got A Hold, she yells: "I love you, Superman!" at Darrel, at the end of Hoods Turned Heroes, she jumps on his back... I can't really explain their friendship, but I love them sm.

Two-Bit and Ace!!! In my opinion, they're kind of like Ace and Soda, except their friendship more on the physical side (dancing together, cuddling under the bench at the drive-in...). It's not really flirting. Their love language is just physical touch. (They're besties, your honour.)

We don't have that much info on musical!Steve or Ace in general, so I don't have much to say about them. I'm not saying they aren't great friends. They are. She's leaning on him during GGAH, he throws her to Two-Bit in FATDI...

With Ponyboy, she shares a couple high-fives and a little twirl in Tulsa '67. I don't really have much more. I'm sorry. She doesn't really have any moments with Johnny (I think?).

Finally, romantic interests. Tilly (Ace's actress) has told us that Ace has a big fat crush on Bev/Beverly (a soc girl they added). Bev hates Ace, though. So, yeah... My personal hc is that they were friends as kids, grew up and developed crushes on each other in like middle school, dated secretly for a while, but then Bev broke it off because, as a soc, she can't be dating greasers. So, now she hates Ace and all greasers bc she's petty like that (no bev hate). I would talk about them more, but this post is already way too fucking long, so I'll end it here.

“you sure this is a good idea nat? we have practice later . . .” van had muttered, feeling less cool than ever for even questioning this decision when he was the one to ask if nat wanted to come back to his place after catching nat sitting outside of his own trailer listening to his parents fighting inside

“we don’t have to if you don’t want to” nat has paused his motions to look up at van but only got a harsh head shake from the other boy

an hour and two joints later , van had felt himself start to slip into little space despite his best efforts not to

he tries to hide his change in headspace and focus on the tv that was now playing lowly across the room from them but - it was a kid show playing , and that only made it worse for him

“vanny you okay?” his head shot up at the use of a nickname as nat rarely used anything other than van’s name or last name

“Mm.” it wasn’t convincing and apparently nat had already caught onto him as he simply slid in next to van and pulled his head onto his shoulder with a content sigh

they had talked about their regression before this and new the other regressed but had never actually been one on one while small together

van knew a clear sign nat was small was him inciting physical touch without any preamble talk of it

they sat together for a long while in silence letting the cool air of the ac waft over them until nat broke it with a small confession that he hadn’t wanted to go back home or to practice and he wished they could just stay here and keep smoking

and van . . . he knew they’d both pay for it later but he agreed anyway and called tai to let her know neither boy would be at practice but that everything was fine - she could tell from van’s voice that he wasn’t exactly telling her everything but let it slide once van promised to call if anything serious happened

with that - they lit another blunt and started to talk about everything and anything

van regresses a little older than nat so he was doing most of the storytelling while nat laid back on the couch and listened with all the intent in the world

this started a routine for the boys to hang out at vans place and smoke/regress when nobody was around

occasionally they’d have someone from the team there with them to either act as a caregiver or regress with them depending on who it was

it was never anything like a party or even that exciting but acted as a good outlet for both boy to deal with whatever might’ve been going on in their respective lives

sometimes serious topics would get brought up - when nat snuck in at night after a bad night with his parents, after van fought with his mother before she left again, if someone on the team said something to either boy that hit a particular nerve, etc etc

starting off strong with mr grian minecraft himself (oh wow what a surprise /s)

he tried piercing his own nose in highschool. like. he was THE teenage dirtbag. sneaking out, drinking, smoking, shitty garage band that got nowhere (yes the bad boys was a garage band you c ant change my mind), mcr, pierce the veil, paramore, sexuality and gender crisis, "i know a guy", shoplifting, skipping class, you name it be probably did it with jimmy and joel during freshmen-sophomore year

pearl is his sister, jimmy and lizzie are his cousins (older cousins i should specify. him and pearl are twins but she's the older twin) and they went to the same high school. he met joel through lizzie and jimmy and joel and grian all clicked instantly

joel would stay at jimmy and grians place so much to the point it was like a second home to him and they would all hang out in the basement. joel stayed with his grandparents and helped them out a lot but they passed while he was in his bad boys phase and so he just stayed at grians place a whole lot during his depression (don't worry he's fine now just a little fucked up but they all are)

grian and pearls parents were kinda really shitty (yes i'm also counting yhs lore fuck uou) his whole life and so they got taken by cps and they lived with jimmy and lizzie's parents. and they were much better until he went to japan and all that shit happened (iykyk)

sam made him really realize that like. "oh my fucking god i'm gay. and it's for a damn sociopath. fuck." (that's like half canon)

he and taurtis DID hook up every tuesday thumbs up emoji

his wings didn't start growing in until AFTER senior year (so post japan/yhs incident)

the yhs holds a ceremony thingy for all the people that passed during all that shit and he goes every year and still has rowens glasses and ran into taurtis one year and it was awkward as HELLL but like. it wasn't an awful experience neither of them knew what to say. especially taurtks is bc by then grians wings had already fully grown in and his ass DID NOT recognize him💀

oh yeah also the four of the cousins are all winged animals so grians a parrot, pearl is a moth but like she's one of the super fluffy one (i forgot what they're called), jimmy is a canary (for obvious reasons), and lizzie is a flamingo because. fuck it (also half canary too it's from their mom) but she doesn't have as many features as the others

they all grow feathers (except for pearl) when they're stressed or feel a heightened emotion and have the little winged ears. they still do have actual ears but they grew in behind they're human ears and pearl has the little antennae things on top of her head. lizzie's kind of blends into her hair since yk. pink on pink and they're more folded then fanned out(?) if that makes sense?😭

grian and mumbo are middle school best friends and he knows everything that happened to grian when he was in japan

grian, scar and mumbo all went to the same high school and mumbo and scar tried making a baking club called (you're never gonna believe this) the buttercups but grian was supposedly "too cool for that fairy shit" but would hang out during lunch with them and go to the meetings and help buy the ingredients and also help bake with them for extra credit and so would jimmy and joel. for extra credit of course

tango, mumbo and impulse were all in the computer club and coding club in highschool. doc was their teacher and cub was the senior teachers assistant trying to get early college credit

jimmy had the FATTEST crush on tango while they were in high school (yes they all went to the same highschool shut up) and tried impressing him by "making" a robot (mumbo made it and gave him the remote and told him to push two single buttons) and he pushed them in the wrong order and it short circuited and it almost exploded. he got suspended for a month and the only reason he didn't get expelled was because tango said it was his and it was a project. he complemented "jimmys" robot and said it had nice coding and a bunch of other nerd /aff terms that didn't make ANY sense to jimmy (that was his way of confessing but jimmys too stupid /aff to understand it at the moment so tango thought he didn't like him back) and when jimmy was talking to grian and joel about it they were yelling at him about how "JIMMY YOU IDIOT HE LIKES YOU BACK" and "WHAT'D YOU SAY? YOU SAID YOU LIKED HIM TOO RIGHT?" to which he (of course) responded with

"NO?? I DONT SPEAK NERD JOEL HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW??"

also tango wears a feather jimmy gave to him as an earring and has kept that earring since they started going out which was like sophomore year or smth like that

they also had an exact conversation to joel before lizzie asked him out (and she also proposed too fight me)

i can go on for HOURS about those three but i'm gonna a do stuff about martyn now because. omg. he drives me CRAZY

also just realizing how most of these are just high school head canons. sorry (no i'm not)

everyone in school always thought that the bad boys were the mean bullies bc they wore leather jackets and studs and cuffs and blah blah blah but in reality they were just the dorky, socially anxious losers that were loud in class because they all adhd. not because they were asshole

martyn and scott were the ones you had to worry about (mostly scott actually but martyn would be a passive aggressive bully)

those little twits had an actual burn book. martyn. the almost loser that pierced his own ears, causing them to get infected but refused to take them out because he wanted to match with his fellow mean gill and wore anime shirts to sleep and doc martins (only because they had his name in it dont praise him he was a loser /aff) wrote "annoying dorks" in the burn book page dedicated to the bad boys. he had NO ROOM to talk and i find that hilarious bc him and jimmy were actually really close and he ate the page. yes. he ate the page in front of scott's face after an argument to prove a point and scott has never respected another person more in his life

i also felt like it was important that martyn and scott got voted prom king and queen

martyn LOVES necklaces, rings, bracelets. he has a matching necklace and/or bracelet with all his four (4) friends that consisted of scott and the bad boys. he still has them as an adult and holds onto the charm when he misses them which is all the time (i love martyn angst evil laugh)

ykw fuck it he still wears the necklaces and tucks them under his shirt, he asked everyone else if they still had theirs and it either broke or they lost it

Okay, so I wanted to discuss the situation with Alastor, his canonical sexuality, and fans.

I have seen the two sides alot.

So one side ships Al with numerous characters and sees this as casual fun.

And the other thinks this is disrespectful cause he is ace, or Aroace.

(I believe that he is Aroace. His va said so, his character has shown no interest in romance, and Viv may have confirmed it at some point)

Now, I am sex repulsed ace and I'm aro. And I have strong opinions. Alastor is my favorite character in Hazbin Hotel, he is also the FIRST confirmed ace character I've seen. (This doesn't include subtly implied characters) Because Al is the first and I care for him he is very important to me.

My opinion is really mixed because on one side it's; yeah, it is a fandom, and fandoms ship. It's what they do. Its also kind a rude to judge someone for their favorite pairings and stuff, in my opinion.

On the other side though I'm hurt. I am a queer person with basically no rep. And I hadn't realized how upset I was by this until I saw discourse over this character. I had FORGOTTEN that it was possible to have confirmed canonical ace characters. I had gotten so used to that just being a head cannon. And not only just an ace character but also an Aroace character. And not just that but a seemingly non sex favorable ace character. I would even argue he is sex repulsed.

My real problem with all this is:

Yes, I KNOW ace characters can have sex. But do you know who else can? Literally every single allosexual character. I KNOW aros can date. But you know who else can? Everyone else. The appeal of ACTUALLY having characters with the same sexuality as me is that they would be like me. Cause I and other aces like me never, ever get stories like that. So many times in media I would be enjoying a character who had shown NO interest in sex/romance and would suddenly be partnered up with another just for the heck of it. This has happened SO many times it's not even funny. It's incredibly frustrating.

So, the point I'm trying to make is that; YES, there are aces who have sex. HOWEVER, a large number of us do not. And it's like everyone forgets that. Your not writing Alastor having sex with Angel cause your showing the vast spectrum of asexuality. Your most likely writing it cause it's sex between two hot characters. It's simply maddening.

(One thing I wanted to say was, despite the fact that Al is ace i don't think it's bad to find him attractive. He is very pleasing to look at so I understand allos finding him hot. However I'm not sure where I stand with people sexualizing him. I think I'm leaning towards, 'please don't do it'.)

Now, the worst thing though is when I'm looking for content to enjoy. When I found out Al was canonically ace I was so happy and excited. I'm pretty sure this situation wouldn't make me nearly as frustrated if it weren't for the overwhelming amount of sexual content for Al. Some would be fine. I could just scroll past it if this were the case. But it is not. Content for Al is MOSTLY sexual. That's why I don't believe people when they keep saying they aren't invalidating aces because almost every time I go looking for a fic I have to scroll for HOURS just to find few non ship fics.

I can't even use the Asexual Alastor tag because all that does is bring me to a bunch of fics where the author is like 'he's ace trust me,' then proceeds to write smut.

Why can't I even use a tag made for aces without being drowned in smut. It's so frustrating! Like I'm getting to a point where I wish the authors would stop using the tag and openly admit they made him not ace for the story. Like I know your trying to not throw away his canonical sexuality but I mean at this point I think it'd be better if you did. And if someone is going to write sex favorable ace Al then please leave it to the aces. I trust us to at least weave it into his character instead of stating it and acting like it's there when it's not.

So basically: I don't mind if you ship him, just don't say he's ace or Aroace if your neither of those in ship/smut content. I'm sick of trying to find content that isn't sex/romance in Aroace tags!

I don't want to judge people for liking a ship. But I'm really tired.

ON A DIFFERENT NOTE, I would love to see content with Al and Lucifer. Like them hating each other to like frenemies. It would be so funny.
