Cangxuan is born for the throne and He knows it and he is always chasing things that will hone his skills. He is not the characters that is normally written (the main character who does not want the power and wants to retire at the mountains). He is not the character who has already got the power (the devil gods as in example (it is not fair to compare two things which is pretty different but Im a newbie and there are like 5 series i watched and four of them is xianxia)). He is not blindly chasing the power unlike the normal antagonists in the show. He is chasing the power to protect people who loves dearly (in this case xiaoyao). The thought that he need to have power to live and protect is hammered into his head since childhood and he has been honing his skills for it but also searching the sister he lost and also doting the sister he has thinking (wishing) someone is doing the same for xiaoyao.

For xiaoyao, she has experienced so much and she hated loneliness. After so much suffering, she wanted a person (half demigod (i dont know the correct term, newbie here sorry haha)) that will spend an eternity with her, spoil her, and love her. BUT one thing is she will stick with her brother no matter what. She is willing to kill for her brother. Those two share a bond so deep that they were away for 300 years and still be the same. Her wish and her brother ambition is so different yet she is willing to stay beside him for his ambition.

I still havent read the novel yet so this is what I have seen from both of them. I watched them all so i cant put it in here but the foreshadowing and the lines and ofcourse the acting is what made this show captivating for me (I cant watch shows that are longer that 12 episodes) . The entire cast is so good. Tan jianci is a gem and this is for another episode
