The amount of serotonin this scene gives me is unparalleled. These two people, *dreamy sighs*, they may constantly bicker all the time but the way they also awkwardly steal glances and smile at each other are super adorable. The hairpin is always symbolic to their relationship, be it in the heavenly realm or in the mortal realm, the hairpin always ties them together. Moreover, the hairpin basically holds Yandan’s memories of their past time and it just adds to the importance of this hairpin. 

But let’s talk about this scene alone....I can’t stop swooning at Tangzhou’s sweet act of giving a bouquet of flowers with the hairpin attached to it to Yandan. Granted that he learned that from story books and plays, it’s still a cute nod to the general romance trope of “I read your book so I can treat you better” that always has me laughing and smitten at the same time, and this is applied to a period drama, which makes the fact funnier to me. But it also exudes a very heartwarming vibe because it’s done not in an overtly comedic way, but in a more subtle yet sweet encounter. Truly, the awkwardness and their genuine reaction defeat me in a very delicious and lovely after-effect.
