Zhao Yuanzhou has always been everyone's shield. He is always the first one to protect others, using himself as their armour and taking the pain they would otherwise. He rarely uses his knife, instead relies on his umbrella, which is basically a shield. It's so poignant, that he basically never bleeds in a fight, unless he lets himself be deliberately hurt or is protecting others. He is so powerful that if he only has to defend himself, he's virtually invulnerable. Instead, he always uses his body as an armour to save others, regardless of his own wellbeing.

He is utterly selfless, and it's very likely the reason why he might have been picked as the vessel - there is so much goodness in him that it managed to supress the malicious energy for thousands of years. Considering his age, the fact that it overwhelmed him only 8 years ago is a testament to both his strength and pure heart.

That's why it's so tragic that someone so good, a protector of both the Wilderness and humans, who would rather die than hurt others, is fated to become a walking ticking nuclear bomb threating everyone and everything he holds dear and ends up killing so many innocent people.

I've rewatched the trailers way too many times to believe Li Lun really died (this is an illusion LL himself created so it's easy for him to make it look like he died, especially since ZYZ doesn't have his Truth Eye to see through it), but still ZYZ's utter desolation, sense of loss and sheer inconsolable grief and despair are real, he feels it all, and that makes it even more cruel, because LL succeeded in his goal - he managed to torment his former best friend worse than any torture device ever could.

Neo Hou has been slaying since the first episode, but now he's reaching insane levels.
