Imagine confessing to Joker that, sometimes, you do feel a bit crazy. He'd been wheedling it out of you for hours now, continuously and obviously guiding you to the idea that there had to be something special about you to catch his eye. Something about you that stuck out like a sore thumb, and not just to him. Something innate about you that drew him toward you.

“There has to be something, my dear,” Joker had said. “I don't exactly attract the most normal company.”

You tried noncommittal answers at first. Really, the only person who'd know why he'd fallen for you (so he claimed) would be him. And hadn't he claimed to know everything about you already? God only knew how he'd gotten your information, but it didn't surprise you considering the man holding you captive. Even still, The Joker kept pestering you for your thoughts. Your mind was just so fascinating to him. 

So, you relented, even if just to appease him. You watched his grin widen, and the smile reached his eyes as they crinkled in delight. The clown hanging onto every word. 

Sometimes, you did feel crazy. Like the world didn't really make sense. Everyone else had a set of instructions on how to navigate the world that you never got. How did everybody else know how to start a conversation without a shock of anxiety washing over them? How did others have the ability to get up out of bed when you couldn't find the strength to? How did anybody find consistent meaning and purpose in their lives.

Even when you tried to pretend to be like them, it fell apart so quickly. It was so hard to keep on top of things. So hard to stay organized and stable and motivated. And you were so aware of the act you were putting on. So was everybody else, you were sure of it. You were sure they could tell, as if they thought of you as something not quite human and just something pretending to be. Something to tolerate until it crawled back to where it came from, another failed attempt to infiltrate their ranks.

You didn't even know what made you stand out to The Joker of all people - especially for anything outside of a murder attempt. You purposefully tried not to stand out. It made it harder to detect how different you were so long as you kept your emotions and thoughts close to your chest. No chance for embarrassment if no one ever got close enough to embarrass you again. 

Joker raised a hand to stop you, resting his hand on your shoulder. The green of his eyes held surprising softness before flashing with mischief.

“How about we give those fools something to really be scared of?” The Clown flashed a grin, raising a small contraption in his hands.

“What the Hell is that?” You blurted out.

The metal thing was the same size and shape of a small ball, painted an acidic green and electric purple. Wiring covered the thing, either wrapped around the outside or sprouting up like weeds from within. A small LED display screen was centered in the middle, left blank.

“A bomb,” Joker grinned. “I figured it'd be thematically appropriate.”

“Get that thing away from me!”

“Oh, come now, it's not even armed.”

As if to prove his point, Joker tossed the bomb aside, letting it roll across the floor. He paused for a ment, raising a hand to his chin in thought. Then, he seemed to light up, snapping his fingers. 

“Oh, of course, you'd want to deal with ‘em up close and personal!” Then, with a flourish, Joker pulled a gun from seemingly out of nowhere. He threw his head back as a chorus of laughter erupted from within. 

“Stop!” You spluttered, backing away. “I don't want to hurt anyone!”

Joker stayed put and simply blinked, brows furrowing. He tilted his head. “Why?”

“Because- because you can't just hurt people! It's wrong.”

“No, it's what they told you is wrong,” The Clown's hands balled into fists. “They force you to play by their rules, then punish you for losing at a game you're not designed to win. They wear you down to the bone and know you won't fight back, so they get to walk all over you."

“That's not true.”

“Don't lie to yourself, Darling. I'm saying this all to help you. I want to help you finally fight back. Everything you've gone through has all been leading to this moment.”

“I can't,” You held your ground. “I won't.”

The Clown stared you down. His eyes held an emotion you couldn't quote register. He wasn't frowning exactly, but he certainly wasn't smiling.

You nearly jumped when Joker suddenly crossed the room. The sound of his footsteps mirrored the thundering of your own heartbeat. It muffled all thoughts as electric panic ripped through your veins and left you petrified in place. Not like you could escape, anyway.

You tried to calm your breathing, but hot, panting breaths kept escaping you, chest rising and falling erratically. You could hardly keep yourself composed enough to look him in the eye. And when you did, somehow it was worse than expected. The expression on his face and look in his eyes wasn't one of murderous intent. Not one of rage. Hell, he didn't even look disappointed.

No. His expression was one of pity.

He swept you into an embrace. One arm curled around your back, hand still holding his pistol. You could feel the cold of the metal pressing against the small of your back. Another hand came up to push your head closer to his chest. 

Joker lamented. “Oh, my poor little maniac. It's so sad to see what they've done to you. If only I had saved you sooner.”

You didn't respond, hoping the excuse of being smothered into his jacket would be enough for him to not demand a reply. You felt the slow rise of Joker's chest pressing against you, then sank back as he exhaled a sigh. A gloved hand petted at your head soothingly.

“You're just like Bats, you know,” he said. “These barriers you put up for yourselves are so small, but you give them so much power. And I just don't understand why.”

You paused, giving yourself time to think before mumbling into the fabric of his jacket, “Because it's the right thing to do.”

When you glanced up at him, the look of condescension on the Clown's face was nearly enough to forgo any ideas of self-preservation or pacifism. Nearly. The last thing you'd want to do is prove him right.

“They're never going to see you as normal, you know that, right?” He pressed. “You'll never really be one of them. Like a square peg trying to squeeze itself into a round hole. I don't see why you're so caught up in silly things like morality when it clearly hasn't helped you yet. It certainly doesn't seem like a concern for any of them.”

You didn't want to talk about this anymore. You didn't want to think anymore. You just wanted to find some cold comfort in the embrace of another. 

A pair of lips pressed against the crown of your head. You flinched in his hold, burying yourself further into his grasp. Maybe you could just disappear. 

“It's so sad to see you sabotage your own potential like this,” The Joker continued, voice taking on a lighter tone. “But it's okay. I'm here to take care of you. And I'll keep taking care of you until you can become who you were always meant to be. Because I love you, I really do.”

Yeah, right.

Still, you wished he made it harder to believe otherwise.

Your clock's ticking fades into the background, drowned out by you turning up the volume on your radio, blaring a favorite song of yours. Background noise as you worked diligently on making your dinner, checking temperatures, checking on whatever was cooking, grabbing some utensils and ingredients you forgot to snag initially.

For once you didn't feel on edge. You didn't need look over your shoulder. You didn't need to sleep with a weapon near your bed. You didn't need the police on speed dial. If felt safe. He had been locked up for almost three months at this point. The longest break you've had from the deranged man.

Course the usual antics in gotham went on, appearing on the news in the morning to report on what criminal had striked this time. One's that you weren't roped up in. You were just an outsider observing for a change. No obsessed man spouting confusing riddles at you and proclaiming love.

Now he was locked away in Arkham far away from you. A court issued restraining order was slapped on top of that too. Pushing his distance even farther.

You could slow down, time to yourself, no need to worry for you safety, for whether you'd wake up in your bed or not. Now here you were, peacefully making yourself dinner. You couldn't even recall the last time you'd done so.

The music is loud enough to where it almost drowns everything out. Almost.

Everything except for the distinct sound of glass breaking.

You whip around on your heels, quickly grabbing the nearest knife to arm yourself, back against the counter as your eyes land of dreadfully familiar figure. Towering over the remaining shards of your windows, brushing his blaring green suit off.

"Apologies for the window. You changed the locks on everything so I couldn't get in the usual way."

You point the knife in his direction, making a clear gesture for him to stay away. He only gives unamused glance at it. This wasn't the first time you two had stood juxtaposed like this.

"Quite the harsh greeting dear. Not even a hello after all these months?"

He takes a single step forward. A shakey shout leaves your mouth with little hesitation.

"No! Get out! You know you aren't supposed to be here! You know damn well you aren't supposed to be near me! You know what those papers say!"

He leans on his cane. Head tilted to the side, a chortle leaving him

"Darling, a silly piece of paper can't keep me from you!"

Of course it wouldn't. A piece of paper wouldn't stop a parasite. A leech. You're not face to face with the epitome of a law abiding citizen are you? He's broken the law long before he decided to swoon over you. The crimes he's done for you before surpassed violating a restraining order. It was just a meaningless sheet to him.

Neither of you moved. Both just stood still. Silence hung in the air. Just as the knife in your hand did. You eye the phone on the wall. Would the city police help? They barely responded in time before. Always end up having to wait for the bat to save you. That wouldn't do anymore would it?

He's killed. He's kidnapped. He's tormented. The aslyum didn't deter him, nor jail, nor any semblance of law or punishment. He'd just keep doing it.

The kicthen light bounces off the blade.

Offering a permanent solution.

The only riddle now was wether or not you would succeed.

Sorry it took me a while to get to this request! And you're so right, he's endearingly pathetic. (CW: these headcanons won't be as bad as some in the past given this is a more lighthearted take on the character, but there's still yandere themes and stalking.)

Jonathan simply adores you, and he will let you know by offering to terrify anyone who may cross you.

He will send you a shit ton of letters while he's locked up in Arkham.

He's just... surprisingly clingy. You wouldn't expect it from "the master of fear" but he just doesn't like not knowing where you are! It makes him nervous.

If you gift him old, antique books, he'll be over the moon. He prides himself on his life as an academic so he'll appreciate you helping him expand his knowledge.

Like the Arkham iteration of Jonathan Crane I've written about, he will still try to learn all about your fears, but this time he's not going to use it against you. This version of him is far less willing to threaten you.

But that doesn't mean he isn't controlling. He wants to know where you are or what you're doing at all times. You're his darling! Doesn't he deserve to know everything about his darling?

his first move's gonna be charming your fuckin socks off. he's buying you dinner, he's complimenting you- he wants to give you everything you want

It was completely by chance, the double-headed coin landing unscarred side up as he pressed his gun against your skull.

Let’s just say your lawyer friends hadn’t been so lucky. The coin was on a heads streak today, and he saved Gotham’s new rising-star attorney boy for last: little ol’ you.

It was cute how despite the situation you stood steadfast, staring into the eyes of Death. It reminded him of himself a bit. How he too was once so passionate about upholding the law, he didn’t care what trouble stood in his way.

It took a lot of guts, he’d give you that. But the last thing he expected was to be frozen in place, caught in this staring match. How your brilliant eyes glared holes into him.

He felt his bitter heart twitch a little as he watched you leave. The two of them hated these feelings being stirred up again, more intensely than when he was with Grace. He would’ve shot you then and there just to be done with it, but he couldn’t argue with the coin.

It was the start of a long-standing game between the two of you.

He almost wanted to get caught, just to see you in action in the courtroom.

The way Harvey and Two-Face experience their feelings towards you are entirely different.

Two-Face hates how you have an effect on him despite your interference with his criminal activities, and has violent thoughts about you that he’s yet to carry out because of the coin or Harvey’s influence.

On the other hand, Harvey respects and admires you, treats you like glass, and has delusions about you already loving him back unconditionally. Unfortunately for you though, he rarely fronts, especially when Two-Face’s obsession escalates.

Rivalry ended with Batman, started with you.

Every scheme of his would include you in some way, just to give him an excuse to bother you

Oh, that pesky little lawyer you, trying to save a city rotting from the inside. And worst of all, luck always seemed to be on your side.

How many times has he kidnapped you, has he thought about murdering you up right so he didn’t have to feel the effect of your charms, only for the coin to spare you!

Two-Face grows more agitated as time goes on, the more he loses control.

Harvey had his reservations about forcing you to be with him at first, but if the coin was trying to tell him something, with how it always seemed to favor you…

Surely you guys were meant to be a pair, right? Harvey is convinced that the two of you were fated to be together. That though you may put up a fight, you still love him. And so he lets Two-Face do what he deems necessary, because he believes it will all work out in the end. Couples have their fights, right?

Two-Face doesn’t mind you interacting with others, as long as you aren’t getting too comfortable with them…

If anyone even thinks about taking your attention away from him, he’ll make their lives hell.

He despises how Batman always gets you out of harms way. Why did nobody treat him with the same care when he was DA? Maybe then he wouldn’t be so fucked up.

“The Bat won’t come for you this time, handsome. He couldn’t even save us.”

Two-Face likes threatening you to do what he wants. He can get easily enraged and physically violent, especially if you don’t reciprocate his affections in the way that he wants you to.

He has no issue with laying a hand on you, especially if the coin approves of it. You’re a tough guy, you should be able to take it like one. Harvey may not engage in the same behaviors, but he certainly doesn’t apologize for Two-Face’s actions either.

And he can’t deny he gets a twisted sort of pleasure from watching your reactions to his handsiness.

Bet you like how Two-Face roughs you up, huh? Of course you do.

If the coin decides not to punish you, then sometimes Harvey will come out, and handle you somewhat gentler

But he’s still easily jealous, judging by how he voices his concerns about you getting close to others all the time. After all, he genuinely believes you two are basically a couple already.

Both of them want to hear you profess your love and praise him and tell him how good he is, to you and Gotham, and not because he has a knife against your throat

Of course, this one is breif as I don’t interpret the BTAS yanderes to be too far removed from their og character traits.

Tw: dark themes, forced relationships, mentions of stalking, mentions of psychological tourture (not aimed at reader.)

• John is aware he’s not he most approachable man and it’s partially the reason hes hesitant to even try courting the person who catches his eye.

•You ought to be very bright or oddly striking to spark his interest in the first place. When you do however John is sure to keep an eye on you.

•John has become very good at hiding, and tracking. Since Gotham is not a very safe place and hes not a very lawful man hes not afraid to take someone’s life if he needs to.

•Those who follow you or get too close will be living their nightmares out soon enough. That is if they can take the intrusive and very very accurate “stab to the heart” assessments Dr. Crane makes of them.

•If you approach him first he’s terribly flustered, not ever expecting you to come to him.

•After a while he decides he would rather not be patient. And he would confront you. In any case it’s likely very startling and it comes from out of no where.

•John is very compassionate to those he’s close with and he would treat any of his lovers with dignity. No matter the escape attempt he would never get brutal with you.

•The situation is already frantic and too dramatic for his liking. If it soothes you to know he didn’t expect or want for this to happen either.

•He doesn’t allow you to decline the offer really- but being courted with him is very much a breeze. He’s not all that clingy once you admit you’re with him at all.

•All in all hes very similar to how he is in the show, just with more guard dog tendencies.

D - Depraved: Does your yandere have a shrine? (If so, what's on it?)

I don't think Ed is really the type to have a dedicated shrine, though I do think he'd have keepsakes of yours around his work area or on his person. Pictures of you, writings or doodles you may have made that he was able to snatch up (maybe even saved out of the trash), pieces of clothing that he was able to cut or rip off… You know, normal stuff! Little things to sate him while he couldn't be with you.

I can also see him considering the crimes he committed in your names as a sort of ‘shrine to your love’.

E - Erratic: How unpredictable are they? How quick are mood changes?

Ed prefers sticking to plans when it comes to his crimes, but he can be prone to unpredictability when it comes to social interactions, typically. He can be prone to paranoia and reading into things. Inconsequential words or even a change in tone or expression could be suddenly seen as slights or insults against The Riddler, which can lead to explosions of anger and accusations of betrayal towards civilians, the authorities, Batman, or in the latter case, his hired help. 

But with you, Riddler feels at ease. Any paranoia is soothed by your presence. With you, he feels so at ease. So right. His equal. His match. His soulmate! Any desperate need for validation is quelled by you. Even if you argue and fight with him, he'd know it's not anything you have against him - well, not really. It's not your fault you've been lied to! You'll understand that you and he were meant to be after he helps you unlearn all the horrible things the idiots of this city have force-fed you.

After all, if you weren't perfect for one another, why did he feel so safe and secure with you?

I - Intimacy: How intimate are they with their darling?

Ed is so touch-starved it's not even funny. He never wanted to be separated from you! Be prepared to be basically smothered in affection. Hugging, cuddling, nuzzling, smothering you in kisses - everything he's missed out on, he wants to finally make up for. All his time spent waiting for the perfect partner is finally worth it now that you're here! And as stated above, he won't get angry if you don't reciprocate. You're just confused, it's okay. 

Any attempts at fighting him or cursing him out will just lead to him cooing to you condescendingly as he ties you up in restraints so you can calm down… Though, he may not be able to hold back from being affectionate before you're done with your time-out. He just adored you so much! You know, exposure therapy is a very effective treatment for aversions, and this would be the perfect opportunity to show how wrong all those fools in this cesspool of a city were.

Unfortunately, I am not autistic, so my apologies if I am incorrect with my writing.

For a darling who ADORES Alice in Wonderland, he would be ecstatic to find someone like him, especially if this is before he becomes a yandere? too late, he is now.

Nothing changes much from how he usually is for a platonic darling.

He would take you to the Alice in Wonderland set often, just so that he could have you be happy. He would allow you to enjoy playing as Alice or the Cheshire Cat or whatever character you wished to play, although he would like it best if you wanted to be the Mad Hatter, basally saying you wanted to be like him.

He wouldn't care for your autism, that is to say that he would never treat you unkindly, or purposefully trigger you. He would try his best to understand your emotions so that you would never have to force yourself to be expressive.

All in all, he would try his best to accommodate you and make you happy, after all, all he wants is his kid to like him, to accept him as a father.

Anon, I love you for sending this request. I am madly in love with Harvey and Two-Face and was just waiting for an excuse to write for them. I have been thinking about these two almost nonstop for a month straight. I hope I get it right! (CW: stalking, kidnapping, general yandere bullshit)

Both Harvey and Two-Face love you, just in very different ways.

Harvey adores you for all the reasons a man usually loves somebody. Your smile, your kindness, your sweetness, how you always see the best in everyone, even a criminal like himself.

Two-Face, on the other hand, thinks it's cute how clueless you are. It's adorable how you're completely unaware how obsessed both he and Harvey are with you.

Harvey feels ashamed of his obsession, realizing how unhealthy and dangerous it is, but Two-Face doesn't care. He just wants to have you, no matter the cost.

So, they flip the coin to see what to do. Either Harvey gets his way and they leave you alone, admiring you from afar, or Two-Face gets his way and they'll both find a way to make you theirs.

If you're unlucky and find yourself abducted by your admirers, Harvey will be apologetic and will do his best to comfort you, whereas Two-Face will be somewhat cold, not caring about how terrified you must be.

Despite how calloused Two-Face is, he isn't going to hurt you. Harvey won't let him. Besides, why would he hurt his new favorite pet? You're just so cute, thinking he'll hurt you! No... you're safe, but anyone who comes looking for you isn't.

If somebody you know tries to play hero and tries to rescue you, Two-Face will be generous enough to let you decide their fate!

Handing you his coin, he'll tell you if it lands on heads, he'll just hold them hostage as well. If it lands on tails, he'll kill them. Let's hope luck is on your friend's side...

no for real though. this man is lonely. he's been lonely a long time, and though he is self-aware enough to know that, he's not exactly going out of his way to change it.

until you come along. and you change everything.

he's the kind of guy to sneak into your place at night and go through your bathroom cupboards.

breaking and entering is this guy's JAM. he learns so much about you like this, and sometimes he just watches you sleep because you look so peaceful

he also does this because it doesn't involve talking to you. and as enamored as he is by you, he is also an anxious guy. fucking this up with you is not an option.

he's very gentle with you, very touchy. it's as much for him as it is for you- it reminds him that you're there, and it grounds him. he's also touch starved as fuck so that's there too

manipulative! really manipulative!

would manipulate you into leaving people he doesn't like. he'd go as far as to make you fear them, so you cling on to him even tighter

this man doesn't have a psych degree for nothing ladies germs and everybody else, he knows how people tick and how to change that tick ever so slightly over to a tock.

he is dangerous, and he will kill people on your behalf, and he will present it to you (if asked- he won't tell you straightaway) as completely justifiable

think about it this way. he's the master of fear, and you are his beloved consort. it's creepily poetic the way he explains it to you. and it almost makes perfect sense

Could you please write yandere headcanons for Fear State Scarecrow x gn reader? (I love that scruffy little redhead and there's nearly not enough content for him, but if you can't, then maybe for Zero Year or BTAS??)

now, i unfortunately know jack about fear state, but i can certainly provide with some btas!

-hes just doing his thing, spreading fear throughout gotham, when he hears some screams that are oddly... enticing

-after all this time as scarecrow, screams of terror have gotten a bit stale, but these ones are like a breath of fresh air

-he follows the noise to find you: shaking, curled in a ball on the ground, and making the most adorable face as you scream and cry

-seeing such a display, how can he not take you home as a test subject?

-you wake up in a cell, with scarecrow on the other side of the bars. he explains that youre going to be his little lab rat

-expect regular doses of fear toxin. he just loves the sounds of your screams, and your scared face is so cute!

-that said, he is a psychologist at heart, so he'll also have little chats with you after each dose wears off. what you saw, where those fears couldve come from, etc

-and as he gets to know you, he gets... curious. something about you intrigues him, but you always close off before he can see what it is

-so one night, he brings some nicer dinner than what you usually get, and he joins you in your cell for a meal. he says its to see how you react to him without the effects of fear toxin, but he really just wants to get to know all of you

-you get to know him too. he tells you his name (and he insists you start calling him jonathan), tells you about his life before becoming scarecrow, and he even takes off his mask

-a few days later, he stops dosing you altogether. hes started to feel guilty about experimenting on you, and your voice sounds so much nicer when its not hoarse from screaming

-soon, hes head over heels. your little dinner dates are almost every night (he says its to gauge how you act in a normal setting), he gives you more freedoms, he even lets you sleep with him in his bed some nights!

-i personally think hes really physically affectionate, although in the start hes trying to be subtle about it. holding your arm a little too long when he injects you, pressing his thigh to yours as he asks about your hallucinations, etc

-if you ever try to escape, back to lab rat status with you. he'll be absolutely crushed too. dont worry too much, he'll begin to trust you again after a while... but dont think for a second he wont make that while miserable

-when you finally start reciprocating, hes ecstatic. youve finally faced your fear and have even learned to love it! now youre his perfect little crow forever <3
