A laugh from across the room quickly caught Yamamoto’s attention, his eyes immediately focused on Haru and Kyoko.  Specifically he focused on Haru, the one who’s laughter caught his attention.  He couldn’t make out what they were saying so he decided to just observe the two of them.

Yamamoto shouldn’t have been surprised that Haru’s appearance has changed over the years that he was away, but yet somehow it did.  She was a bit taller and more physically mature, but in the end she was still the bright Haru that he remembered, which was almost as surprising.

He honestly wasn’t sure how long he had been staring at Haru, simply just admiring how happy she seemed at the moment.  Yamamoto finally snapped out of it when he saw the two of them look in his direction, so as to not get caught he went back to looking at his phone.

Yamamoto was silently cursing himself, here Haru was trying to be nice and he was being just as rude and cold as everyone else was saying he was.  “It’s not that it’s just… complicated.”

Sighing in frustration Yamamoto leaned forward to rest his elbows on his knees, then his hands on his palms.  He didn’t know how to act around anyone anymore, people he once considered his closest friends are now nothing more than strangers.

“Everything is so different.  Everyone is different.”  It was hard for him to figure out how to navigate, most of the time he just ended up hoping that he didn’t somehow make things worse.  “It feels like I don’t belong here anymore, but I’m also not allowed to leave.”

Haru was taken aback at first, stunned into silence. She wasn’t expecting for him to say something so harsh, so it took her a few moments to gather her thoughts again. “Well… Haru isn’t sure how you think,” maybe he doesn’t see her as a friend anymore… if judging by his harsh words, “but Haru still considers you a friend… so that would make us friends in her opinion.”

“Though, Haru wouldn’t push it if that’s… not how you felt.” There was a possibility he only came off that harshly because of his frustrations of how the others were treating him, and she could be sympathetic towards that, but it still stung a little bit. “Haru’s sure the others still see you as a friend, but are just unsure of how to act around you.” Yamamoto was quite different from how they remembered him prior to him going to the States, so that disconnect could make things awkward.

There were some who would simply be antagonistic because they were being stubborn and didn’t know how else to process things in a healthy manner. “Haru supposes the only thing she can say is to give it some more time. Everyone processes things differently.”

@themultiverseheroines continued from here "The captain used it during his battle against the Quincy, but his body almost tore itself apart," said Yumichika who was told what happened when Captain Zaraki used his Bankai for the first time. "Not surprising though, considering how the captain always had such a powerful spiritual pressure." Yumichika still wondered if that's why the captain didn't use it against Talsein. His body was perhaps not still ready for it. Well, he just hopes Ikkaku will be able to do some damage. "Get ready, Talsein! Because I'm going to show you why Squad 11 is the strongest in all of the 13 Court Guard Squad!" Ikkaku soon charges in and swings his massive blades at Talsein. Talsein used his speed to avoid the attack, which sliced through some buildings. Ikkaku charges again at Talsein, but his opponent was faster and was able to avoid those massive blades, even without releasing his Zanpakuto. Momo took notice of this and knew this isn't good. "We can't stand by and let him fight Talsein like this. Maybe if we all attack at once..." "Out of the question," Yumichika replied interrupting Momo. "Ikkaku will never allow us to get involved in his fight. He would rather die than let that happen."

As Rangiku Matsumoto watched along Hinamori Momo about how Ikkaku was fighting against Talsien Yamamoto, she listened to him about how Kenpachi used his power during the fight with the Quincy, but it did some damage to his body afterwards.

She then watched Talsien use his agility to evade Ikkaku's attacks. Rangiku had refrained herself from having to distract him, as she knew he was going to show Talsien how strong he was in Squad 11.

Rangiku agreed that she and Momo should back Ikkaku up, but Yumichika told them not to interfere with Ikkaku's fight. "That's the pride of a chrome-dome. Letting him have his fight. But Talsien keeps evading his blows every chance he gets."

Its been about a few months since the fight with Yhwach and repairs to the Soul Society has continued. Much of the buildings still are in need of repairs, the casualty count is has finally finished, and some parts of the 13 Court Guard Squads have managed to resume with their duties.

Out at the Senkaimon, Captain Toshiro Hisugaya is seen standing in front of the gate. His arms within the sleeves of his coat as he appears to be waiting. Waiting for someone to appear from the gate. He was informed by the Head Captain that some very important people will be joining them soon, so he was asked to go greet them.

That and Toshiro was the only captain available, since most of the other captains were busy with other matters.

Toshiro sighed softly as he looks up at the gate, waiting for these so-called special guests to show up. "I wonder how long do I have to wait till they arrive? I know I was told to get here early just in case they arrive early, but its been over and hour and they're still not here yet."

There were very few things that Yamamoto hated more than drunk people, and yet here he was with a drunk guy on the floor after they decided to pick a fight with him.  He could feel his cheek starting to swell from where the guy got in a surprise hit.  He went to touch his face, only to have his hand knocked away, having much smaller hands gently cupping his face turning his head side to side.

It took all of his will power, still being in fight mode, to not attack the person checking on him, taking a few seconds to realize that it was Haru.  Now feeling guilty that not only did she have to see him like this, but also the fact that she probably saw him knock up a random drunk guy.

“It’s fine Haru, really.  I’ve had much worse before.  I’ll head home and ice it as soon as I can.”

Haru didn’t miss his mumbled words, “Haru doesn’t know if you’re being sarcastic or not, but you’re exaggerating. Haru is just an average person.” She set down the snacks and offered him some warm, calming tea. She watches how Uri was curled up in Gokudera’s lap, purring contentedly. This image brings a smile onto her face to see the feline so happy that her owner is back. She sits down in her seat and starts sipping her tea.

Haru went quiet for a moment, reflecting on what he meant. She didn’t really recall doing much to help him realize anything… but she can remember confessing to him a while ago. It was something she regretted doing, because she felt like she was the reason for the breakup of her two friends. She couldn’t recall exactly when she started having feelings for him, but when she realized, she confessed because she wanted him to reject her so she could promptly package up her feelings and move on. She never expected for Gokudera and Yamamoto to break up shortly afterwards.

It was her fault, wasn't it?

A sigh. “Haru's sorry to hear it didn't work out, but hopefully you both got closure." She picks up a cookie and starts eating it. The guilted feelings were starting to eat away at her. "Haru just hopes you both can be happy." She worries about how they're going to work together as guardians with them being ex's.

Her words brought a smile onto his face, “good to know that I’m more than a bumbling swordsman in your eyes.” It was usually the only thing they ever talked about, after all. She would chastise him for not taking swordsmanship seriously by two-timing with baseball, or she’d make a comment about his work for the mafia.

She didn’t usually comment about his smiles or anything—then again, he couldn’t really remember if she ever has before.

He rests on his elbow, “want to guess what your most attractive trait is to me?”

"Of course, Yamamoto, your swordsmanship is impressive..." Squaletta began with a faint smirk, though her tone hinted that the rest of her words might not meet his expectations.

"But if you are expecting me to say you are irresistible with a sword in hand just to stroke your ego, you can forget about it," she added, feigning seriousness, though the sparkle in her eyes gave her away.

"Your smile is still your greatest weapon," she continued, her voice softening slightly as her gaze lingered on him for a moment. "And honestly, it causes more chaos than all your perfect strikes with that katana."
