Outer banks is so confusing, cause like if your not tax evasion yact level wealthy are you automatically a pogue? Does plain Jane middle class just not exist in Kildare? Vacation in Croatia, Pula (Pt. 2) [1/2]

Second day (11. 07. 2024)

The other family, our friends arrived too in Pula and they checked in. After this, we immediately went to the pool because the weather was very hot. Then went to the town to look around with our friends.

We visited another church near the Colosseum. Then we went to the town's double gates but it wasn't that interesting..

The Golden Roman Gate was very nice, a lot of people were there to take pictures.

We went down to the port again and we saw a lot of yachts and boats, the "kid" of the family, my friend (same age as me) photographed a lot of them, he likes yacts very much 😊

I was obsssed with the oleanders and palm trees 😅🥰

Saturday lunchtime . . .

This post reminds me of a story I once heard about the first Solar Car race 2,000 miles from Darwin to Adelaide in Australia.

A group of people were driving in the opposite direction (Adelaide to Darwin) when they say something on the road.

After a while they worked out that it must be coming towards them.

A mystery wrapped in an enigma as it slowly emged from the heat haze of a desert mirage floating above the tarred highway . . .

The could not work out what it was as it gained speed closing the distance separating them . . .

It wasn't a bird, it wasn't a plane, it wasn't Superman . . .

They started freaking out . . .

What was it . . . ??

The i,age they perceived made no sense . . .

It was uninterpretable to them . . .

And then it sped past the just inches off the road . . .

None of them had ever seen a solar powered vehicle before

And the were releaved to discover it was not a UFO . . .

No . . .

It was this . . .

The leading solar powered car in the race . . .

Reminds me of some people on a yact in the middle of nowhere when they saw a ship heading towards the . . .

But a merchant ship from the East India Company of the 18th century.

I recently got into this Netflix show called Call My agent that's about the talent agency in front France and I thought you and your followers would be interested in knowing about it because the episode I'm watching currently seems like he might be starting up a mini storyline about the casting couch/yacting. It's season 2 episode 5. I should take mention that this episode at least the parts that concern the storyline of the casting couch /yachting is set in cannes and the film festival and the woman is at the center of it wants to get a movie financed.

If you're okay with reading subtitles is really good and there's only four seasons and the seasons themselves only have six episodes each that are about like 50 minutes long maybe an hour

Triangle of Sadness (2022)

Carl and Yaya, a couple of influencers, are invited to a luxury cruise ship alongside a group of out of touch wealthy people. The situation takes an unexpected turn when a brutal storm hits the ship.

JayBell: I’m not a huge fan of the big award shows, but seeing a comedy on the list of nominations for Best Picture I was a little surprised. And a little curious.

I had no clue what to expect going into this movie besides what I read of the synopsis. And after watching, I’m not sure it’s really a “comedy.” It is satirical in many ways, but I’m not sure that I found it funny per se. It’s hard for me to describe this movie. It’s White Lotus plus The Menu plus Titanic plus Castaway. I could not predict the events of this movie, not by a long shot, and there’s something fun about its unpredictability.

I definitely picked up on the themes of equality and classism. The power dynamics between people of different classes, between different generations, between genders, and between couples. It was crazy to see how a return to a blank slate, where money and status means nothing, can change the social hierarchy.

As for the ending, normally I don’t like this ambiguous, open style. But I actually like how you can decide what happens on your own (or at least what you want to happen).

P.S. I’m taking off a whole point for the long, detailed, and extended vomiting scene. Yes, an entire point. I hate watching vomiting in media so much this movie should have its own warning.

P.P.S. Rip Charlbi Dean Kriek. She did a great job in this movie and it’s weird she wasn’t in the memorial at the Oscars despite being in a movie that’s nominated for Best Picture?

Anzie: I remember seeing the thumbnail for this movie a few weeks ago and thinking “oooOooo that looks good.” And I watched it and you’ve got Woody Harrelson as a captain and a BUNCH of puke- and I immediately was like “ummm okkahyyy.” And it left my mind until now. And I have to sayyyy the puking is a BIT MUCH to say as little as possible about THAT but there is sooooooo much to this movie.

So much is happening the whole movie like honestly a review is pointless. Just watch it. It might be like 10 hours long but it is so entertaining with the continually evolving plot points and focuses and dynamic shifts with the characters. And it absolutely BONKERS! Like that Captain’s Dinner Scene- I’ve never seen anything so horrific. And the discussions on societal issues is clearly there and poked at but you can get the message in a potent way while just be able to look at surface value of the movie- which just feels so weird bc the more you think of the issues it’s pointing out the better the whole movie gets. And the actors were great and insane and just made everything work so awesomely. It really can’t be reviewed it just has to be experienced. The overwhelming show of how power dynamics affect us as human beans, but also just navigating the roles expected in our relationships and how gender affects that, but also the concept of WOOdY HarRElsoN beING A YacT CapTAin and a SOCiaLiSt?!? It’s a doozy. But very fun. And the END!?!?!!?!?!?! Yessssssss. It was an unexpected good time.

Becca kissed him and grinned, "Not a bad retirement if you ask me. We can have a yact and a vineyard and just drink wine and sail the seas all day." She could imagine it. Her and Daniel here and Lea and Tyler in Italy. The best of both worlds. It dawned on her in the moment that she was imagining her life with him forever and that's something she hadn't throught about with someone in a long time. "I love you too. More than I've loved anyone in a really long time. Maybe ever. Everything that happened...I never thought I'd be able to imagine a future with someone again but then you came into my life and changed everything."

Becca leaned against the railing and took in the view before turningto her boyfriend with a huge grin, "You did an excellent job. I love it. We should just stay here forever." She teased and wrapped her arms around his neck. "I think you get to plan all of our vacations from now on." She loved Spain, it was one of her favorite places and getting to come here with him was amazing.
