Who is...Theresa Cassidy | Siryn? - A Reading Guide
Theresa "Terry" Cassidy is an X-Men affiliated mutant from Marvel Comics first introduced in 1980. Terry is the daughter of Sean Cassidy (Banshee) and was raised by Tom Cassidy (Black Tom Cassidy) and Cain Marko (Juggernaut). She possesses her father's super-sonic scream and a hypnotic voice. Terry is most known for her affiliation with teams like X-Force and X-Factor, and having taken on the mantle of the ancient goddess, the Morrigan, in the 2010s.
Terry's central story deals with topics that may be triggering such as alcoholism, infant death (X-Factor 2005), and suicide (X-Factor 2020). These are all central themes to her story across the years, if you struggle with triggers related to these topics please proceed with caution and make sure to take care of yourself.
Reading list under the cut!
Crime and Muir Island
Terry's appearances open with her as a criminal alongside Black Tom Cassidy and the Juggernaut. Her heart, however, was not in it, and Tom helped her to reunite with her father, Sean, and Terry then split her time between her father's home and the Muir Island Mutant Research Facility.
Spider-Woman (1978) #37-38 Uncanny X-Men (1981) #148 Fallen Angels (1987) #1-8 Marvel Comics Presents (1988) #43D Uncanny X-Men Annual (1986) #15A X-Factor (1986) # Annual 6A Uncanny X-Men (1981) #278 X-Factor (1986) #69 Uncanny X-Men (1981) #280
X-Force
Terry initially joined X-Force to stop her former father-figures, Tom and Cain, from bombing the World Trade Center but stayed with the team for its entire duration. While on the team Terry would become deputy leader, and with the help of Warpath would recover from alcoholism. Towards the end of the team's tenure Terry lost her voice and subsequently her powers- and would regain her voice/powers (bad), lose them again, and then regain her voice/powers again (good) with the help of her recurring romantic mistake, Deadpool.
X-Force (1991) #3 Spider-Man (1990) #16 X-Force (1991) #4-7, 9, 11-15 X-Cutioner’s Song X-Force (1991) #19, 21-26, Annual 2, 27-28 Cable (1993) #5, 7-8 X-Force (1991) #29-33 New Warriors (1990) #46 X-Force (1991) #34, Annual 3B Cable (1993) #14 X-Force (1991) #35-36, 38-41 Deadpool (1994) #1-4 X-Force (1991) #42-44, 46-50 X-Force and Cable '95 (1995) #1A X-Force (1991) #51-58 X-Force and Cable '96 (1996) #1A X-Force (1991) #59-61 Deadpool (1997) #2-5 X-Force (1991) #63-71 Deadpool (1997) #12 X-Force (1991) #72-84 Generation X (1994) #44 X-Force/Champions Annual '98 (1998) #1 X-Force (1991) #85-91, 99-100 Wolverine (1988) #154-155 Deadpool (1997) #56, 61
X-Corps and X-Corporation
Despite what the name might suggest, these are in fact different things. Terry's father, Sean, formed the paramilitary X-Corps, which was frankly a disaster that had to be reigned in by the X-Men, leaving Sean wounded. Terry joined X-Corporation, a secret branch of the X-Men who operated internationally.
New X-Men (2001) #128, 130 Domino (2003) #3 (just at the beginning) Cable and Deadpool (2004) #15-18 X-Men: Deadly Genesis (2006) #6 (Sean is buried in this issue and Terry is present for the funeral in one panel at the end, important for her character)
X-Factor Investigations
Following the events of M-Day, Terry would join X-Factor Investigations and restart her relationship with Jamie Madrox that had first started back on Muir Island. During this period of time, Terry and Jamie lose their baby, and Terry will come to take on the mantle of the Morrigan.
X-Factor (2005) #1-19, 21A-39, 41-44, 46-50 Nation X: X-Factor (2010) #1 X-Factor (2005) #200, 205-209, 211-213, 217-219, 221-224-228, 230, 233-235, 237-239, 241, 243-244, 262
Krakoa
After disappearing from comics for around 6-7 years following becoming an ancient Irish sovereignty, war, and death deity- Terry, like many mutants, came back on the mutant island nation of Krakoa. Things were not quite paradise here for her courtesy of some things with her dad (not his fault this time)- and also Leah Williams' complete bastardization of the Morrigan arc (in X-Factor 2020) which was literally Terry's last appearances, how fucking hard is it to read like 5 issues of comics Leah? How fucking hard could it possibly be? Terry has less than 300 appearances, get it together.
House of X (2019) #6 Hellions (2020) #1 X of Swords: Creation (2020) #1 X-Factor (2020) #4-10 (THIS IS LEAH WILLIAMS' AWFUL MORRIGAN ARC, BUT IT HAS TERRYLORNA CRUMBS AND REMEMBERS THAT SHATTERSTAR AND TERRY ARE CLOSE WHICH IS THE ONLY REASON IT'S EVEN READABLE) X-Men Unlimited Infinity Comic (2021) #26 X-Men: Hellfire Gala Confessionals Infinity Comic (2022) #1 X-Men Unlimited Infinity Comic (2021) #50-55
After the Fall
Krakoa fell apart (as all things run by Charles Xavier do), and things are ROUGH for mutants now. We find Terry now imprisoned by the anti-mutant terrorist organization, Orchis, in the Greymalkin Prison.
Free Comic Book Day 2024 Blood Hunt/X-Men
EXTRA:
Wolverine: First Class (2008) #6, 16 (there's no clear place for these in continuity OR in Terry's established backstory, but it's cute and supposedly 616 so it's here)

The Krakoa Era Reading List Cherik Version (PART 1):
(In order of timeline)
1. House of X/Powers of X
Tons of Cherik interactions with a lot of emphasis put onto their relationship. Moira/Charles is mentioned but very minor and in the end Charles chooses Erik over her. Highly recommend reading the whole thing since it establishes the universe and has a lot of ship bait.
2. Dawn of X
Some cute moments but overall they do not play a huge part in this series. A majority is dedicated to world building and other characters. Worth reading for the small parts they are in which are unfortunately dispersed throughout 15 volumes. I recommend skimming through it since the moments they are in are good but it is overall skippable.
(Highlights: Charles is assassinated and revived. There are a few angsty scenes with Magneto and their reunion is a little lackluster but sweet. Charles and Erik go to speak at an international meeting and it's cool. Logan gets Magneto drunk so he can steal his helmet, Magneto is a cute chatty drunk. I recommend reading that part at least bc I love it sooo much.)
3. X of Swords
Most of their appearances are in silent counsel meetings and Charles is shown several times in the resurrection chambers. Again they play a much smaller role in this series. The most noteworthy things to come from this series are the cute co-parenting moments between Erik and Charles. Since this one is much shorter (5 volumes as opposed to 15), I will include the moments I personally enjoyed. Aside from these moments I think this series is skippable.
Erik and Charles co-parenting an angsty Polaris (Magneto's daughter):

Erik and Charles being proud of their son Cyclops:

And I just really loved this scene XD Someone hatched from their egg mad as hell and Charles was NOT having it

I am planning to make a series of posts as I read through the Krakoa Era, so for now this is only Part 1. My memory isn't great and I pretty much just scroll until I see Erik or Charles and only read those parts so I'm missing some major context LMAO but I hope this is helpful to anyone

sorry just got reminded of the entirety of uncanny x-men #309 and how it's charles having a therapy session with himself about his love life and desires and how he kept sacrificing himself and his wants for The Cause and the whole time he imagines erik to represent his innermost thoughts in the form of a therapist to have him unravel all this
#snap chats#i was going to read the fic i had saved and i remember the angel who recc'd it to me mentioned this issue#and bruh .......... //screams//#there's an onslaught joke in here somewhere but i aint diggin for it it's 3AM and im goin to the mall with my bro later#this is brought on by scott and jean recently announcing their plans to be married and charles gets I-Refuse-To-Admit-It jealous#this is such a depressing issue and that's probably why i love it. there is a happy ending tho so that def lightens the load jaELKVEJKA#ironically @ my last ask this issue also tackles charles' issues with feelin loved only this time its more concretely in the romantic sense#which. very interesting to use erik as your 'therapist' there charlie.......#anyway usin erik is wild but i get it makes perfect non-ship sense in context but anything can be ship related if youre ill.... like me ...#but no genuinely it's an interesting issue.. i fear i'll have to buy it so i can look at it every day and throw up#not neglecting the opening is charles realizing erik saved him from a snowstorm (unlimited x-men number 1 1993)... ofc.....#UGH FUCK now i gotta get THAT issue too.... sorry im building a cherik library i guess i just love the angst so much <- im deranged#any time theres mentions of charles' suppressing his wants or just suppressing anything in general i go insane its my favorite thing Sorry#ok ima go read that fic now. after i bookmark a listing of uncanny xmen 309 vejarVERVJEAJ bye

Do you have comic recs for Chamber? He's one of those characters I've always been interested in just based off his design but I've never actually looked into what to read for him.
omg tysm for asking i love talking abt Chamber !!!!
There are two options; you could either read in chronological order and start with Generation X (1994) #1, or you could start with Chamber (2002) (his 4 issue solo series) just to get a good introduction to Jono's character and then read Generation X (1994)
If you already know that you really like Jono and don't need an introduction then I'd say go ahead and start at the beginning with Generation X.
These won't be all of his appearances, i'm limiting this just to 616 and these are just comics that I think are essential reads for any Chamber fan.
Ayda's Chamber Reading Recommendations
1. Generation X (1994)
This is his debut series and has so many great moments, I'd even recommend reading the Annuals (especially the '97 and '98 ones) as well as the Generation X Underground Special (1998) these aren't required they're just great reads)
2. Uncanny X-Men #395-398
These issues follow Chamber after he graduates from Gen X but before he accepts the offer to join the X-Men. Incredible character moments for Jono
3. Chamber (2002)
This one could even be your starting point, it's that good. It's only 4 issues but it follows Chamber on an undercover mission at ESU. I recommend it as a starting point because it's so isolated, (its disconnected from any other stories going on at the same time) and allows the reader to focus on Jono's character without having to also focus on other characters/events. Just great all around imo.
4. Weapon X (2002) #15-21
Chamber plays a major part in this arc, and it gives you important context for the next comic on this list.
5. Generation M #1
This issue follows Chamber after he got depowered during M-Day.
6. New Excalibur (2006) #9
This issue continues to follow Chamber after getting depowered.
7. New Warriors (2007) #2-20
I'd personally skip over this i'm ngl... he's certainly in the book but he does next to nothing and his character design and abilities are completely different. you can read it if you'd like but it's unneeded.
8. X-Men Legacy (2008) #248
He doesn't really play a major role in this issue, it's just here for context as to why his powers were restored lol
9. Generation X (2017)
As much as I bemoan some of the creative decisions made in this comic, I loved Jono being a teacher and coparenting with Jubilee.
10. Uncanny X-Men (2018) #11, #14, #15, #17, #18
This is during X-Men Disassembled, and I personally loved the decision to make Chamber join the Morlocks. However while i only listed the issues Jono was in, you may want to read the whole series (even the Chamber-less parts...) in order to be able to follow along with the plot.
11. Weapon X-Men
This one's a currently ongoing miniseries, and Chamber's characterization is on point (as i expected from Joe Casey lol)
I hope this list wasn't too confusing. I tried to limit it to stories where he actually did something important instead of just being a side character that talked every once in a while. (coughNew Mutants (2019)cough)
Hope you enjoy these recommendations !!!!!
#hope i didnt forget anything that would be embarrassing#ik i didnt include New Mutants (2019) and thats because i believe it did nothing for jono#anyway#i really hope this helps and i didnt just overcomplicate chamber ahdbdbabskkd#jono starsmore#jonothon starsmore#chamber#chamber xmen#x men#comic reading list#chamber reading list#x men comics

Spiderman Noir With a Superman Anomaly Reader
Stumbling into Noirs universe was a complete accident. You were doing some simple patrolling when you stumbled upon a weird portal, of course you did the responsible thing and reported in to Bruce. Telling him about your findings and from his mic you could pick up your uncle Kal, yelling about no matter what, don't go messing around with it until they arrive to check it out. You tease him a little about it, saying how you’re not that stupid to mess with something you know nothing about by yourself. Of course you’re above simple mistakes…such as tripping on your own cape, managing to get sucked into said other wordly portal.
It’s very easy for Noir to spot you because of the weird getup you’ve got going on. I honestly think one of his first instincts would be to web you and investigate what/who you are. But upon being webbed you manage to break them, brushing them off as you concerningly ask what the fuck was that. He’s a bit perplexed after that because there’s no way you got out of his webs that easily. You don't seem like an initial threat at first but he keeps his guard up in case. You explain your situation with the whole portal, of course skipping out on the tripping part because he doesn’t need to know that. After his whole ordeal with being in another dimension he knows your telling the truth and loosens up a little.
The two of you are sitting on top of a building ledge as the both of you exchange different information about each other's universes. He admires that the symbol on your chest stands for justice and truth, happy that the people in the universe have heroes like you to protect them. Noir probably also makes a comment about how you don’t wear a mask and he truly feels your dedication to being a hero to others when you say you want people to trust you. Noir finds your attitude interesting, considering how bright and fun you contrast to his monochromatic world. He’s 100% amazed by what you can do, comic books are barely becoming a thing in his time and age but you’re exactly what he imagined they’d be like. He’s really curious as to what you can do, and doesn’t believe half of them. He’s a little suspicious when you say you have laser vision but he’s not willing to take the risk of you showing him, simply brushing it off by saying “Okay okay I believe ya, now put those eyes away before someone gets hurt.” Once he knew you could fly and had super strength he let the best get to him and asked if you could lift him.
Of course always eager to show off you flew up and picked him up by his underarms. He knew it was coming but seeing you actually fly and lift him up is still something that could startle anyone. He lets you have your fun for a little bit before asking to be put down and you agree, fixing his hat on his head. Noir eventually asks you if there’s any way for you to get hope and you simply pop out with a nope. He murmurs to himself for a bit to see if there was a way for him to help you, so far your circumstances were different that his, and he was sure there was no one in his dimension trying to open any other dimension portals so this just must’ve been a fluke of nature.
He invites you to stay with him until you somehow get home, in return all he asks is that you help with his crime fighting. He totally admires you even more once the two of you get down to business, throwing in a few compliments on your form here and there as he lands a punch. After a while of getting to know each other he’ll help you blend in properly by letting you borrow his own things since this motherfucker is built like a brick. He’ll have you wear his coat + hat when you’re out in public. Sometimes he’ll catch himself staring too much at you in his clothes but in my head he resembles that one joke that's “I’m probably nonbinary but I have a job so idrc about that rn” except how he’s totally gay for you.
Once Bruce finally manages to get you back, you were out doing normal things with Noir before you get dragged into an alleyway. Of course Noir senses this and follows behind. Seeing a man who looks like you along with a man in a batlike costume. He ask if this means you're finally going home, Bruce says its where you belong and hurries for you to follow along through the portal. You ask him if he wants his coat back but he insists that you keep it, saying that it'll be a memory of the two of you.
"Will I ever see you again?"
"I don't know."

Krakoa Era Reading List Cherik Version (part 7)
Disclaimer! There are a lot of titles I'm skipping in this period, simply because they focus on characters and plotlines that I don't care about. This story is complicated enough without side plots.
22. Hellfire Gala: Fall of X
I really liked this one! Any comic that shows off Charles powers is a 10/10 for me and this one is no exception. Added bonus is that he is wearing this super cute angel-inspired costume:

Also he looks so freaking pretty here omfg.
As is standard for all Hellfire Galas something goes horribly wrong, but this time it is much harder to come back from. Moira and Orchis show up with a bunch of Nimrods and reveal that they had interfered with the Mutant's medicines for mankind and installed a kill-switch which they use to take humankind hostage. Threatening Charles with mass human death, they force him to mind control all of the mutants on Earth to send them into the portals and off of Earth. Little did he know that they also hacked the portals, effectively turning them into meat-grinders which he just forced all of his people into (as far as he knows at least). Orchis then activates the kill-switch and many humans die anyways, but Charles in an act of desperation extends his powers to make it so they feel no pain and die peacefully. Idk I just thought that was a nice detail. The comic ends with a majority of mutant kind presumed dead, Emma leading the few survivors and an emotionally broken Charles sending Rogue off to "Avenge Krakoa". Very bleak stuff. It's all downhill from here folks!

23. Immortal X-Men (Issues #14-18)
Very cool, very convoluted. Basically covers two storylines: Xavier uncovering vital truths with the help of the Sinister that had been implanted inside of him, Hope and Exodus leading the mutants in the Noplace they'd been sent to after Hellfire Gala. A whole lot of twists and turns and it ends with a big reveal that I thought was super cool so I won't spoil it. Mother Righteous continues to ruin things for the mutants, and it's revealed that she was the one who hacked the portals to send them all to the White Hot Room (the mutant afterlife) in order to use Jean's power to become a Dominion. I liked Charles part in this comic a lot despite him spending a lot of it sitting around depressed in the ruins of Krakoa. At first we are led to believe that he is using his telepathy and newfound telekinesis to massacre the Orchis agents that Shaw brought there, but it is revealed to be the remnants of Sinister inside of him doing the killing. I like that it allows us to see how efficient and deadly he could be without conflicting his morals. He also has a beard in this comic which is... Something. I don't hate it.

Charles dynamic with the Sinister inside of him was very enjoyable imo. Hope and the other mutants were also very interesting, and I dig the Jewish parallels with them all stuck wandering in the desert "diaspora" in search for the Promised Land. They actually use those exact words.
That's the end of the Immortal X-Men run! This title in particular had some of my favorite moments so I'm definitely gonna pick up a physical copy for it
24. Jean Grey
Technically a prelude to the previous entry, in which we see Jean explore several different potential outcomes for mutantkind as she waits to be resurrected. It explains her appearance in the White Hot Room. Charles and Erik are in the first issue of this title, with special emphasis put on their relationship. We see Jean put Magneto into a catatonic state, believing that it would be better for mutants if he was out of the picture. Charles of course freaks out and immediately kicks the X-Men out of the mansion, and when they later return they find that Charles has restored Erik's mind and the two of them are living together. Due to the lingering effects of Jeans powers Erik is now wheelchair bound, so they're matching! The rest of this title covers Jean's various relationships and sort of serves as a character analysis.

25. The Resurrection of Magneto
I think that enough is explained at this point to read this story. Arakko was not affected by Charles command to walk into the portals, but they were busy dealing with a civil war so they are late to the game. Ororo goes into the mutant afterlife to retrieve Magneto's soul, since after the events of the Hellfire Gala Charles is no longer stable enough to lead the mutants. Some really epic symbolism and references to various moments in Magnetos history are shown, including the iconic scene from the original Trial of Magneto comic. Overall a great analysis of Magneto as a character, but the cherry on top was the focus put on Charles and Erik's relationship. Man is obsessed with Charles and it shows. Definitely a must-read for Cherik fans. I'd include some screen caps but I'd basically be sharing the full comic so I recommend you just read it.
I'm taking another break to read some older X-Men comics I got for the holidays so I'm cutting this one shorter than anticipated. Next are Fall of the House of X, Rise of the Powers of X, and X-Men: Forever! Then I need to go through Duggan's X-Men comics and see what I missed since the reading order lists I'm using and the titles on the free comic site don't match up and it's a whole thing. But I'm almost to the end! The next Krakoa era reading list should be my last 🎉🎉🎉

Outta curiosity, what were the scogan fics you enjoyed? Always looking for recommendations :)
oh well, as previously mentioned the list isn't very long (yet! i still have hope!!) but i definitely enjoyed reading these ones:
'Tis a Visitor and Nothing More by Theshapeoflove [10.8k, Mature]
Summary: In the aftermath of Jean and Scott’s death, the Wolverine has holed up for the winter in his cabin. Unable to cope and struggling to unravel his complicated feelings about a certain boy scout post humus, Logan is startled when he hears a knock on his cabin door right as a heavy snowstorm rolls in.
[it's a detached-but-not-really sort of fic, more of a character exploration and implications than anything, but it's very well written and it was a really fascinating read, definitely scratches a very specific itch]
A Shore Thing by snottysocks [7.2k, Teen + Up]
Summary: Scott Summers organizes a meticulously planned beach day for the students, but his well-ordered vision is challenged when he’s forced to ask Logan to chaperone.
[this one is just very sweet and easy; it also comes at the characters from a softer angle than a lot of fics/canon material, while keeping it pretty head-on and i think it just has a lovely lightness to it — something that this author seems to do really well]
Eyes Wide Open by menel [15.5k, Mature]
Summary: Depowered after a month in captivity and a botched mission, Scott has retreated into himself. Nearly everyone is walking on eggshells around him and it’s up to Logan to bring their Fearless Leader back.
[there are some time-jumps that i found slightly hard to follow at first, but otherwise it has a nice balance between the usual torments of being an X-Men and some more than developing feelings finally catching up to these two]
#unfortunately this is where i'm at rn#but i got some promising stuff on my reading list#so maybe we can expand on this list later on?#scogan#fic rec#x men#ask#anon
