In the messy realm of whether God causes bad stuff to happen/why bad things happen, one idea that i bounce around is that the free will given to humanity extends to all of creation, perhaps in smaller or simpler degrees. And the sickness of sin resulting from that free will permeates creation, motivating creatures and forces to act against each other (or vice versa). The lion attacks the gazelle as a virus attacks the body as the earth's crust quakes to damage cities. So these ecological and biological cruelties are inevitable consequences of collective sin (not individual shortfalls, but the mere existence of evil itself), all of which are remedied by Christ's incarnation and crucifixion. The lion will lie with the lamb, no more sickness crying or pain, still waters. All encompassing love trumping all forms of cruelty.

Amidst the chaos and disappointments that encompassed my last two months, I had a fun connection about two of my favorite brain rot comics - you got an immortal(ish) with a harsh backstory who spirals into obsessive hatred that ends in the stealing of their obsession's bodies and subsequently haunt those family lines and those adjacent to them for generations - and I liken the Zeppelis, who shares the Joestar's generational curse by Dio/immortal creatures in general, to the Conaghers who I also see as helpers to the Mann line Its a really cool angle to look at Engie in, who since I was 14 was my least favorite character lol, this really elevated him for me

And so if the Manns are like the Joestars, that means like, Olivia Man is the equivalent of Joseph lol which is very funny to me

my idea for a reverse robins au:

it start with maps. she’s been playing d&d for a while when she sees batman fighting crime in gotham. she thinks it’s so cool and, between him and one of her d&d characters, gets inspired. she makes a costume and starts going out at night.

batman sees her and every time she goes out, he tells her to stop. this goes on for quite some time until batman sees how tenacious and stubborn she is and reluctantly agrees that she has some potential and finally agrees to teach her just so she won’t die

damian comes along after maps has been robin for a while (this only works if maps and damian have a few year age gap). maps has been working with batman for a while when a strange kid holds a sword up to her throat and threatens to kill her. she may not know batman’s identity, but she knows enough to know that the kid is his (she’s not an idiot, and she’s a founding member of the detective club at her school. she was bound to notice a thing or two)

she’s at a point in her life where the rest of her friends have either graduated or are graduating that year alongside her. there’s talks of college and the future and honestly, maps isn’t entirely sure that she wants to keep fighting crime. it was fun while it was still new and fresh and she could feel a rush whenever she punched a criminal, but it’s been a while, and she had been debating it for so long that by the time damian shows up, she knows what she should do

after taking some time to bond, she passes the robin mantle to damian, telling him to keep it safe and to do right by it and when he asks what if she wants to still fight crime sometime in the future, she just says that she has plenty of other d&d characters to base a vigilante persona on

when damian’s robin, some random girl starts showing up, calling herself batgirl. unlike maps, batgirl isn’t as easygoing or technical. she’s brash, willing to speak her mind even if it gets her in trouble, and prefers to beat people using her fist rather than her wits. damian likes her. bruce does not

but it’s fine, it doesn’t really matters what bruce wants, bc steph is still batgirl and doesn’t ever plan on stopping. she and damian get closer, much closer than he and maps had been, and she keeps telling him that it’s ok to act like a kid sometimes and keeps getting him to do kid things, and sometimes it’s annoying, but he also wonders if that’s what it’s like to have a younger sibling, if how he views steph is like how maps views him. he hopes so

that is, until he dies

steph, mourning, decides to become robin. she doesn’t do a good job of it — as batman likes to constantly remind her — but she still enjoys it. she knows that batman would prefer if no one was robin, not after the last one died, but he doesn’t get a choice in the matter bc steph is already robin and now there’s nothing her can do about it so he can suck it

one night, she meets a boy named tim. he’s kinda shy and says that he’s parents left for the weekend on some boring business thing he had no interest in and was bored. they talk.

they keep talking. almost every time steph is on patrol, she runs into tim. it becomes a habit, even when his parents are still in town. batman doesn’t like it, but again, he doesn’t get a say so he can suck it

and then steph screws up majorly, and in her need to prove herself, she screws up even worse. so badly that she dies, too

tim becomes robin next. he’s more like maps than the other two robins had been, and is more supportive of batman in his time of grief. he’s firm, yet caring, and learns quickly. it’s enough that bruce, mourning two different children, starts to come a bit out of that dark place he was stuck in for so long. it helps that batman doesn’t have some kind of weird disapproval of him

maps had even come back to gotham for a bit, but when she sees that tim has done more to help batman than she ever could, she leaves knowing that he’s in good hands

right when bruce starts to overcome his crushing grief, damian comes back. it’s a miracle and a tragedy bc he comes back, finds out that stephanie had been robin directly after him, and instead of being mad about that, he’s mad that she was fired and died as a result

robin was supposed to be redemption, and instead served to be a mass grave, and damian would be damned if he let that have collect anymore bodies

he sticks around and helps to train tim, and when he’s not doing that, he going to school to become a doctor or hanging with maps to come up with his own new vigilante identity and is shocked by how many ideas she has

after a couple of years, steph comes back. apparently she had given birth while “dead,” but no one cares about that more than they do that she’s alive. she becomes spoiler, a free agent who doesn’t have to listen to anyone’s rules and can do her own thing. she likes it better that way

after tim’s parents die, bruce adopts him. he thinks that it solidifies his place in the family and feels at peace and at home

one day, bruce comes home with a new kid named jason. apparently, he had tried to steal the tires off the batmobile, a feat so impressive that everyone’s jaw drops when they hear it. tim finds out from alfred that he’s no longer robin. feeling unappreciated, lies to, and conned, he runs away and becomes red robin

jason doesn’t know why tim had left, and even bruce seems a bit perplexed by the whole thing, thinking that everything between them was pretty alright at the time, but he’s robin now so that’s kinda cool

oh, who is he kidding, it’s the coolest thing ever! he gets to help people all the time now instead of occasionally and only when he knows that he won’t get injured too badly. bruce is cool, too, and has even adopted him! damian is his new older brother now, apparently, who always tries to treat jason nicely even if there’s some kind of lingering tension between him and bruce

that time kid is also jason’s older brother, supposedly, but jason hasn’t seen him since he moved into the wayne manor so he’s not sure if that really matters or not

eventually, this new girl shows up and is so badass that even jason can’t pretend to be unimpressed. steph takes her under her wing, and for the first time in years, there’s a new batgirl roaming the streets of gotham, kicking more ass than jason and bruce combined

and then, jason dies. bruce is yet again stuck in a whirlwind of grief, pushing aside this entire, fractured support system he has created for himself

that is, until one day, in a moment of desperation, alfred buys bruce tickets to the circus. he goes, unaware that tim is also in the audience and jason is hanging around someone on the circus grounds, and watches a pair of acrobats fall to their death

dick comes home with him. dick is a ball of anger and sunshine and grief and joy and all the complicated emotions that middle schoolers have when they watch their parents die.

when bruce offers the mantle of robin to dick as a peace offering do this kid will stop going out on the streets of gotham at night (bruce has seen this film before with maps and he’d rather fast forward through this part), he gets confused why dick starts breaking down into uncontrollable and unstoppable tears

dick starts asking everyone how the name robin came to be, demanding an answer out of everyone that no one can give him

that is, until he finally meets maps

maps sits him down and explains how when she was younger, she went to the circus and saw this man preform a trapeze act in bright colors, and how afterwards, she saw the man talk to a lady who’s bump just started showing about excited they were for their little baby robin to be born

ughhh the recanonized kier portraits. this isn't an example of some flippant and careless gesture meant to show inclusivity by an ignorant white corporate entity - though those are harmful as well - this was such a deliberate and cruel act of racist malice it makes my skin crawl. the painting of kier in what almost looks like blackface, white in everything save for the color of his skin. those ashen gray hairs on his head and face, the piercing blue eyes. whiteness undercuts the very meaning of what it is to be an eagan, so much so that even an imagining of a black eagan must retain essential features of whiteness. blue eyes, light hair. and god, the fact that there even needs to be a recanonized series of portraits so clearly tells milchick that they had to rewrite their own history to find a place for people like him in it. the boot of capital crushes everyone just the same, but if you obey us we'll let you feel like you're the one wearing it, just this once. milchick and natalie are in such precarious and unlikely positions and they know that, and the board absolutely knows that. this isn't a gesture of good will, this is a reminder. we can paint the eagans as anything we want. you are interchangeable.

Okay. I've sat with this for a few hours and I still cannot figure it out. I don't know if playing Dancing With The Devil during Sun and Lin's sex scene this week was brilliant or not. Because listen, it absolutely did not fit the show or the characters. Don't get me wrong, it's a banger of a song that I have been listening to since Big Dragon aired BUT it was not the appropriate song for that scene.

However, I'm sure MosBank fans (myself included) appreciated the throwback. I was literally just telling @heretherebedork that I think Dancing With The Devil is a much better ISBANKY song than Pink Sea (the Sunset X Vibes opening) when I got to that scene and had my soul snatched out of my body. So I can't decide if it was brilliant to use that song as a kind of love note to MosBank fans or if it was just plain bad.

I think I have to land on somewhere in the middle. I think it was a bad choice show wise. It had no business being in the show, but at the same time the show already had a lot of issues and I thought the song/sound choices were not the greatest the whole time. But it was a good choice for fans. Which is fun and all but I wish it had been a different song. Well looks like typing this helped me figure out my feelings on the matter.

By choosing Dancing With The Devil, they betrayed the show and the story they were trying to tell (I know I know it wasn't done well up to that point either but hear me out). Dancing With The Devil belonged in Big Dragon. It belonged with Mangkorn and Yai because it completely fit their characters and their dynamic throughout the whole show. It does not fit Sun and Lin. Even at their...surliest, their meanest, their most devlish, neither one could accurately be labeled a devil. And especially not in a scene where they are coming together in an act of love (god I almost threw up typing that because I can't stand emotions but that's what that scene was). It felt disingenuous to the characters to have a song that did not represent them playing.

Now, with all that said, I want to make myself clear. I still loved it. I love that song every time I hear it. So I will criticize the choice to use it when a more fitting song should have been chosen, but I will still enjoy the scene and the show for what it is/was. This might be the first time that a song choice that took me out of a show and the scene did not ruin my enjoyment of the scene. It's truly a mixed bag. I am full of contradictions and multitudes and they are all coming out and being represented by that fucking song choice. Anyway, that is to say, go listen to ISBANKY's music. It's good and he deserves some more love there.

I, too, don't really vibe with scenes that ignore the sub. I mean, I don't hate the concept, I think it can be a nice addition to a fic, but I don't go seeking it out.

I'm glad you like my post! I think Barb would kinda be a coy instigator in those scenes. For example, if you just made Lucifer cum he'll ask if that's it, it's only capable of cumming once. If Diavolo is a kid on Christmas day excitedly admiring his new toy, Barbatos is a collector examining a product.

That's not to say he's cold. He's still very gentle and praises Lucifer. (I really like your line, "My lord, it's complexison is very unique," Barbs would absolutely say that). He just wants to push Lucifer a little more and see how far you can push him. He also notices the little things that Diavolo might have looked over, like how Lucifer's cock twitches after he cums.

I admit, when Reader is playing ruler and Diavolo and Barbs nrimg Lucifer to you, it's less "precious object kink" and more "wild demon that has been captured and played with by humans" kink. But I can mix those two together! In my mind how the scene plays out with Lucifer pretending to be a wild demon that human knights Diavolo and Barbatos caught, played with and tamed, and now brought to their ruler to show it off.

Lucifer is chained up and kneeling in front of your throne while Barbatos and Diavolo talk about how good of a toy Lucifer is. How beautifully it begs, how much it came cum, how being a demon means it can take a lot more than a human can, etc. Diavolo plays the part of the boastful guard, excitedly shoving his thick fingers into Lucifer's hole to show off how it begs. While Barbatos stands to the side and comments how willingly Lucifer obeys, and shows you by commanding Lucifer to kiss his shoes, which he does. Diavolo is a lot more physical with Lucifer while Barbatos is a lot more psychological. While Reader pretends to be uninterested, so Diavolo and Barbatos really have to ruin Lucifer to try and convince them.
