i feel like i'm speaking a different language whenever i try to talk about jkr to anyone who isn't a trans person in the uk. americans imagine if every time someone tried to talk about donald trump a million home alone fans started talking about how they felt bad for macauley culkin but they were doing activism by drawing fanart of the burglars having gay sex. also they understand some of the problematic aspects of home alone and try to divorce their enjoyment of the films from trump's presence but they would appreciate permission from you to continue watching them. then every time you try to steer the conversation away from home alone to what he's currently doing in the present day they get confused and keep bringing it up.

being a trans woman is fun because like 90% of your interactions with other people will be tinted by transmisogyny, but you're not allowed to acknowledge it because then you're "avoiding criticism by pretending all of it is just bigotry"

"is anyone unnerved by how much info people are able to dig up on Luigi via his online footprint" well i was paying attention to eroding internet privacy protections over the last two decades and watched countless lolcows get doxxed way more in depth than this so no not really. "once it's on the internet it's out there forever" was like the rallying cry for internet safety when i was first getting on the family PC. the ship of "being horrified over how much info you can find on someone just from their digital footprint" not only sailed a decade+ ago, it's circumnavigated the globe, come back, and is currently in a museum

i dont think non-transmasc allies realize that- it's actually their job to uplift our voices and make us more visible. it's actually their job to bring others awareness to us and to advocate for us. it's their job to use the platform they have to talk about us, accurately portray our struggles and/or bring trans guys into the discussion to talk about our problems. we can only do so much alone and if no one else is advocating for us, then people are less likely to listen and take us seriously.
y'know how white men hafta talk to other white men for them to actually listen about and understand the struggles of people of color? it's like that. people of your own demographic are more willing to listen to you than listen to the people you're advocating for, unfortunately, but that is the reality. you need to bring us on when you're having discussions about us or at least get your info from transmascs if you're going to talk about us w/o us there. I can shout at the top of my lungs about trans men everyday but at the end of the day it doesnt reach as much people. it's the responsibility of people with more visibility and a platform to boost our voices and message.

I feel like we shouldn't have to keep saying it over and over, but here we are again... Trans women are women. Trans people don't deserve all this hate for simply existing.

Life hack for people with short attention spans:
WATCH DUMB VIDEO ESSAYS!!
I am so goddamn serious. If you have a short attention span, the best thing I've found to help with that is video essays. Please bear with me on this post, or read the tldr:
My attention span was, and still is, totally fucked from my years on the internet and my adhd. I would spend hours on tiktok, instagram reels, yotube shorts, etc, and could barely sit through a TV show episode without opening pintrest to get even more mental stimulation.
But fast-forward to mid-fall last year, where I got really into video essays. Started out with 5 minute "storytime stickmen" videos, then 10 minute explanations of game lore bits, then 15 minute videos on punk subculture stuff, etc, and even though I was still using pintrest and reels relentlessly outside of that, after a little while, I realized that I had stopped pulling out my phone mid-video. The videos were actually grabbing and KEEPING my attention, even if I had little to no prior interest in the subject.
And by now, I've finished multiple 2.5 hour long videos on totally random stuff like the characterization of king candy, the making of a now lost-media tinkerbell movie, weird random stuff in fnaf security breach, etc. Now I actually SEEK OUT these longer videos, and even find myself getting involuntarily disappointed when a video essay I'm watching cuts out at 20 minutes! I actually enjoy sitting through long videos now!
And sure, I don't always watch them in one sitting, but if anything that's even better! I can come back to a video I was in the middle of and STILL keep my attention on it!
This is all to say, you can't just cold-turkey your way out of the instant-dopamine-rush of shortform content. It's just not gonna work. But if you do it gradually, you will likely find yourself getting actually INTERESTED in just the act of watching a longer video. And maybe by extension, you'll find yourself being more engaged in things like your classes because you're already GOOD at being engaged with lectures on random stuff, which will likely make you want to find MORE of that class content (the coursework) because you're used to the information being given for even longer periods of time than the classes are.
Now, this won't work for every type of content, and it obviously won't completely fix your attention span. Hell, I'm still addicted to plenty of online shortform content. But it is undeniably helpful to have even just one facet of your attention span be over an hour.
TLDR (since this IS a post directed at people with short attention spans); I used to have a detrimentally short-as-fuck attention span, but I basically exposure-therapy'd myself into enjoying long videos, and it did WONDERS for my attention span. I want to help you do the same.
So please, for the good of your brain,
WATCH DUMB VIDEO ESSAYS!!!

and also re: the "transition now or you'll be a shell of urself forever Stop making excuses about it being 'unsafe'" genre of post. it feels worth mentioning that some people -- and i am specifically talking about people who do not live in the united states of america -- are unsafe. there are places where things are much much worse for trans people, and no amount of posting planned parenthood clinics and the diy hrt site is helpful for people who live in places where being trans (or gay in general) is illegal. or where it's not explicitly illegal but theres a serious threat of violence. or any other number of reasons someone wouldn't be able to transition. like im saying this as someone from the us but i think the focus on the us and uk is especially harmful when it comes to telling people like. "if you don't transition you're a coward and your life won't be worth living Who cares if it's not safe just do it" Like i don't know maybe we shouldn't be shaming people who can't transition bc of the culture they live in

Not having a very good gender day at work lads. I'm not out at work but I still use more neutral and masculine language when referring to myself, as much as I can in French at least.
I guess my manager didn't like that I used the masculine term for my job instead of the feminine one. "You'll be working with women, it will make them feel more comfortable if they know right away that you're a woman :)" as if the person working at this job before me wasn't a guy. Yikes.

Conversations on here will basically be like
"Hey these new reproductive rights issues are affecting trans men too so let's make sure we include them in the conversation, instead of calling it women's health issues."
"Would you stop complaining? Trans women have it worse than trans men. TERFs want to kill us but only detransition you."
"If living as the gender you are not is so easy why would you transition in the first place? Obviously trans people transition because they can't live with existing as a gender they are not. Obviously "just going back" isn't an option because we often fail to behave the way we're expected to anyway. Forcing any trans person to detransition is a death sentence in and of itself."
"Why are you always speaking over transfems when we talk about transmisogynistic violence???"

What are your thoughts on Project 2025?
sounds like a shit time but also just, like, sounds like the logical conclusion of the overton window shifting as rightward as it has. to a certain extent project 2025 is an extension of black and brown reality in this country and i guess that's why i'm not totally panicked about it. like.... it is bad. but the united states is terrible to begin with, it is a tree with rotten roots and that can only bear rotten fruit, project 2025 is simply one of her stinky fruits birthed from her most rancid branch
also in my opinion, even if the project itself gets blocked via electorate the ideas will stick and spread and morph. republicans in office around the country are already trying to do that on a local scale (florida, for example). that is something i don't think most liberals in this country are prepared for. they won't even let you make silly haha joke about trump nearly getting a head transplant, how are they expecting to combat fascism?

It's just... odd to me, I suppose, going from "what is in my pants is completely irrelevant to most anybody else's life" to the expectation that you must be completely open, essentially, about what is in your pants.
I think a lot of people understand the general idea of why it's bad decorum to demand people offer explanations for private information like this, but they don't analyze exactly why it's bad besides, "asking directly is just rude" and not "asking in any way still enforces the often violent nature of gender and sex, and putting people in the 'right box' is a part of that violence."
It's especially odd when seeing other trans people enforcing the idea that "what's in your pants?" is a genuine, good-faith basis for interacting with others.

trans women are really not allowed to have anything on here. as soon as a trans woman says anything suddenly it’s ‘not an oppression competition’ and ‘we are ALL one gender; the LGBTQIA gender’. but god forbid someone says anything minimizing about trans men and suddenly AFABS are the most oppressed gender 😔
