I seriously hate my job sometimes. I had the worst shift ever in my life. We just had a costumer come to the drive through complaining about the fact that he got 2 20 nuggets yesterday and that they were cold and that he called us and we promised him new ones. My coworker did not find any evidence that he had called but still since it was busy we decided to give him one 20 nuggets and let him leave so we can continue our jobs. When she took the nuggets out to him, he literally put his entire hand inside the box then threw them at her and told her "these are cold. Go give them to someone else" and started filming her as "evidence". Btw they were fully new and out of the oil. I feel so bad for her because she started crying. Before our more experienced and male coworker could confront him he drove off and we thought he would leave but instead he drove around to the drive through again and started filming me at the window as if it was all my fault as well but I remained calm and collected and smiled in his face. My male coworker immediately came over and forced him to delete the video is by threatening to call the police for harassment and took his name to ban him from our McDonald's. My coworker was literally sobbing and having a panic attack so I pulled myself together and finished my shift with a smile. But the second I got into the car and saw my dad "my safe space, other than my mom" I couldn't hold it in anymore and burst out crying as well. My dad took me on a calming walk at 4:30 am to help me relax again before we came back home. I don't know if I was in the wrong or if my coworker was in the wrong but this incident has made me feel so weak and I promised myself to never be this weak ever again and defend myself. I'm sorry for the rant but I had to get this off of my chest.

Now I’m watching the sunrise at 6 am cause I cannot sleep for the life of me😭

There was some drama with my friends earlier and I hope it resolves soon

Art fight released its theme!! I picked team Seafoam even though I prefer the sound of team Stardust. Seafoam is just lighter, more summery, sounds happier.

My work experince was really great, I've been so tired during it, it has been so exhausting, but I really wish I could just work there already despite that hah. -Will make an update on that tomorrow

First Week of Summer 2024

This week I finished Year 11! I didn't do much but I started a Work Experience programme for Journalism. It's really fun and I think I'm considering a career in Journalism. On Thursday, my friends and I burned our school stuff by the lake which was fun and this weekend I went camping. Anyways, stay tuned for some more posts!

I’ve been doing work experience at Atlassian since Monday and it’s been awesome so far! I’m on the automation team (i.e the IFTT-esque automation system that’s usable in Jira, Confluence etc) for the week.

Monday was mostly getting my computer and dev environment set up, but I learned heaps about company processes and standards along the way. I also attended the team’s daily standup which is an interesting tradition at software companies, it seems to be helpful in making sure everyone’s on the same page at the start(ish) of each day. The view is amazing and I can (almost sorta) see my school from where I sit which is pretty cool. Lunch was diy sandwiches with every possible ingredient under the sun, courtesy of the free cafeteria (!!!)

I was there essentially 9-5 which I’m gonna be honest I’m entirely unfamiliar with but it actually flies by doing interesting things (cough. school)

So I used to work in a Dairy Queen and back when I worked there I had a handful of memorable experiences, but one is kinda burned into my memory forever.

I live relatively close to the border so it’s really not too uncommon to meet people who only speak Spanish. I myself only knew a handful of words and phrases in Spanish at the time, none of which were very useful when trying to take orders.

This resulted in a handful of interactions where both me and the customer were awkwardly trying to mime out what we were talking about as there weren’t any staff members who spoke Spanish that could help me.

And then there was one customer that just. Pulled out their phone and typed what they were trying to say? And then they had me do the same and like. God, if I were able to use my phone at the register I woulda done that every time.

Also to the people who openly said that I couldn’t hear them cuz of my headphones when I asked them to repeat things, fuck you. You were speaking quietly and I have problems processing sound, especially in a store full of loud machinery. If I’m actively talking to you and I need you to repeat something, I just didn’t fucking hear you. I’m not listening to music while you’re talking to me.

Guys the people at this camp I work at are like almost insane???

Not in a negative way or a normal way just everyone keeps trusting ME when things go wrong or start talking to ME about things they planned to tell no one like super fast.

I knew I had a "trust me face" but one of the women lost her keys to the pool (she's a lifeguard) and decided I was the only person she could tell the truth to so she could have help finding it without Admin finding out
