I was thinkig about how in the httyd books the woman are discribed as hairy and while yes, I know it is played as a joke, strong manly hairy viking woman, but wouldn’t it be true. I mean woman in the early middle ages didn’t really have razors. I’m sure that where there’s a will there’s a way and if you tried hard enough you could shave your legs, but who is actually going through all that effort just to get some shiny legs. There is quilting to be done and farm animals to be fed. It just wouldn’t be an effective use of a girls time.

Still thinking about how even on a lesbian tv show, none of the women seemed to have any body hair at all... seriously?!?
It seemed so unrealistic to me. Unless I'm the weirdo here.

“Forcemasc doesn’t work because masculinity isn’t considered degrading” hello???? Yeah maybe not on cis men. But growing up as a "girl" I was made very aware how masculinity for a woman was considered disgusting and humiliating.
Growing up, my performance of femininity determined my worth. I was valuable to others because I was feminine, and if I did anything unladylike or was caught with what people considered “masculine” traits I was shamed for it. Do you remember the stereotype of the “ugly feminazi”? How they would be portrayed as loud and aggressive, with short hair, large unkempt eyebrows, hairy legs and armpits, sometimes even facial hair, and other features considered "masculine" (broad shoulders, big jaw/chin, large nose, etc.), all to make them seem deeply unfuckable to a mostly male audience. And as we should well know by now, under patriarchy a woman's worth is measured by their fuckability. This is what I grew up being exposed to, what I was socially told not to be unless I wanted to be treated as subhuman.

we really need to stop associating facial and body hair with men. it's just hair. someone having a beard or body hair does not instantly make them a man. women, intersex, perisex, trans and cis all can naturally grow beards and body hair. men, intersex, perisex, trans and cis can all never grow facial or body hair, ever.
if a woman has a beard for whatever reason, it doesn't invalidate their womanhood or make them partially or wholly a man. if a man can't grow facial hair or refuses to, this doesn't make them any less of a man. trans and intersex women are not obligated to shave their faces constantly in order to be seen as women. trans and intersex men are not obligated to try to grow or make it look like they grow facial hair in order to be seen as men people deserve bodily autonomy when it comes to hair, especially if it just literally grows there against your will.

every time a man assumes I'm a tradwife type because of how I dress, I just want to be like "at any given time it's been an average of three weeks since I last shaved my armpits. sometimes longer"

why are people so abnormal about female body hair…. i’m aware body hair isn’t the most pressing feminist issue at the moment but the amount of times i will see a video of a women online and go to the comments, just to see everyone telling her she’s gross or to shave? most of the time i don’t even notice she has body hair and 99% of the time it’s completely irrelevant to the topic of the video 🙄 only wanting a woman who is completely hairless is weirdo behaviour idc

I think it's incredibly important to remind folks on testosterone or folks who want to reverse patterned baldness about their options, but man, does it sometimes suck wondering how much of our insecurities about our hair stem from backwards beliefs that to strive towards beauty is not only preferable but "makes you good."
As someone with a rather masculinized body pre-medical transition, patterned baldness has always seemed neutral. Hair is incredibly important (hell, much of my own energy is spent on my hair because I like it), but the pressure to have hair, to have hair the "right way" is something that I absolutely loathe.
I'm not here to judge people who don't want patterned hair loss or baldness, I'm here to say that those traits will never make you lesser. Not only is it neutral, but it is also just as worthy and beautiful.
