Bible Study- Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 ♡
Tumblr media
"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace."
In a time like now filled with many distractions, it is easy to be tempted by procrastination. As a college student, I tend to be very harsh on myself when I am not as productive as I would like to me or if I spend too much time doing things other than studying or work. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 reminds me that there is a time for all things to take place.
Be kind to yourself when you fall short of your expectations because every season has its purpose, and it's okay to have periods of rest and downtime <3

I don't know who needs to hear this but when Christian talk about biblical submission, they are NOT talking about something sexual. Submission for a wife is different than submission in a sexual sense. It's about letting yourself go and letting your husband take control. It's about keeping God between the two of you as the higher up. It's about knowing that you are NOT less than your husband, you're a helper for him.

God Loves Imperfect People
Most of the time, we believe that God loves us as long as we’re making good decisions, resisting temptation, and treating people right. But there will be times when you compromise, times when you have doubts, times when you fail. When we don’t perform perfectly, it’s easy to think that God is far from us.
I say this respectfully, but sometimes religion pushes people down. It says, “If you make poor choices, you’re on your own.” But the truth is that when you fall, God doesn’t turn away from you. He comes running toward you. When you blow it, God doesn’t say, “Too bad. You had your chance.” Rather, He comes after you with a greater passion. When you make a mistake, God loves you so much that He pursues you. He won’t leave you alone until He sees you restored and back on the right course. That’s the mercy of God coming after you. God loves imperfect people.

“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.”-Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭26‬ ‭

Who shall find a virtuous woman? For such a one is more valuable than precious stones. Proverbs31:10
Proverbs 31 talks about a woman, a woman of noble character, a woman of compassion, generosity and integrity. How did she acquire these characters? It begins with the fear of the Lord. Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised” (Proverbs 31:30). Her strength comes from her reverence to her God. Her aim is to please Him and to serve Him. Her life is a life of true success and happiness. Whether seen by many or by a few, the life of a noble woman leaves a legacy for generations to come.

The Masacre of the Innocents
Artist: Cornelis Cornelisz van Haarlem (Dutch, 1562-1638)
Date: 1591
Medium: Oil on Canvas
Collection: The Mauritshuis, The Hague, Netherlands
The Masacre of the Innocents
Shortly after the time of Christ’s birth, King Herod the Great made an unsuccessful attempt to destroy the infant Jesus by ordering the slaughter of all male children age two and younger. The ecclesiastical name given to this killing of babies in Bethlehem and its surrounding regions is the Massacre of the Innocents.
The event is recorded in Matthew 2:16–18: “Herod... gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi. Then what was said through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled: ‘A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more.’”
At the sign of the star, Magi from the East had come to Jerusalem asking for “the one who has been born king of the Jews” (Matthew 2:2). Consulting with the Jewish priests and scribes, Herod sent the Magi to Bethlehem, the prophesied birthplace of the Messiah (verses 4–5). Feigning a desire to worship the new king, he instructed them to return to Jerusalem and give him the exact location of the newborn king. When it became apparent that the Magi had ignored his directive, Herod put his heinous plan into action, ordering the Massacre of the Innocents.
The Massacre of the Innocents was the result of King Herod’s extreme paranoia and cruelty. Herod would do anything to protect his own interests, including murdering all the little boys in Bethlehem. The wise men had alerted Herod to the arrival of a new king in Bethlehem. In his fear and morbid suspicion, Herod could not allow a rival king to live. Not knowing how old Jesus was, but certain the wise men had said they’d first seen the star less than two years before their visit, Herod took no chances and had all male children under two in Bethlehem killed.

For tonight’s Bible study, I sat and read through 1 John 5, and thought about the different kinds of sin. My key takeaways were this:
🤍 The importance of prayer: The passage emphasises the importance of prayer for fellow believers, especially when they are struggling with sin!
🤍 Assurance of salvation: Believers can have confidence in their salvation, knowing they are born of God!
🤍 The reality of sin: Even believers can sin, but through repentance and faith in Christ, they can be forgiven!
What are your takeaways from 1 John 5?
