So I read as the worm moon dies by @rollercoasterwords this morning and the only thing on my mind has been this wolf star specifically. I know they’ve only had two conversations so far in the fic and they’re still at the “enemies” (? Strangers? Idk) part of their arc, but I just KNOW this shit is gonna be so good. This is just what I imagine could have happened if Remus accepted sirius’ help and what could still happen hehe anyways everyone go read it it’s making me rabid.

Catching a cold - a wolfstar microfic
~1200 words of pure comfort
The night that Sirius and Remus finally admit their feelings and become a pair just happens to be the week marking the beginning of Quidditch season. Remus fusses over Sirius flying around in pouring rain, which Sirius of course finds cute but totally unnecessary. However, caused by the weather or not, he actually does catch a cold the day after the semester's first Quidditch match.
Sick Sirius is a whiny Sirius. When he’s got a cold, everyone knows it. Each of his coughing fits ends with a few extra coughs and a whimper.
Growing up, Sirius' parents only considered his well-being at the bottom of a long list of far more important matters, such as his reputation, acts, and appearance – and how they reflected on the family name. But if these matters were sorted, being sick was one of the few occasions when his mother showed a sliver of care.
It could sound something like: “Oh send up some tea for that sniveling boy, I can’t stand hearing it. And make sure there’s scones and honey with it.”
Or that time he showed up to their private flying lesson with a fever: “What are you doing? You should be in bed. Regulus, go fetch him a warm blanket immediately. Now rest, we don’t want the whole house to get sick, do we?”
In essence, it had been one of the few problems he had been able to voice unpunished.
So, this time just as every time before, he sits in an armchair in the common room and lets everybody know just how sour his throat is and that he has got exactly the kind of headache that means a fever is developing.
But instead of mimicking the others' eye-rolling and mildly annoyed snickering, Remus for the first time embraces just how adorable he finds this helpless Sirius. He kisses his forehead, strokes his hair, puffs his pillow, swaddles him in a blanket, fetches him a cup of tea, and quietly sits reading with an arm around him. And Sirius falls in love all over again. Passion and fun are one thing, they have plenty of it. But he has never ever felt this cared for.
Only when Remus tries to spoon-feed him at dinner in the great hall he smiles: “You’re embarrassing me, Moony.”
Smiling right back Remus teases: “That’s what happens when you whine like a baby.”
Sirius blushes. And he is so cute that Remus has to kiss him, despite all people around them. It’s just a quick soft kiss on the lips, but it makes Sirius blush even more. Remus showing the world that they belong when Sirius is his usual sunny center of attention is one thing. But today? When he’s a red-eyed sniveling mess? It’s astounding.
That night Remus carries his pillow and blanket to Sirius' bed and lays down beside him. He lifts the blankets carefully to not let in cool air and let his warm body up against Sirius back. He kisses his neck and runs his fingers softly through his hair. When Sirius turns around, he kisses him.
“Don’t kiss me”, Sirius mumbles, “you’ll get sick, too.”
But Remus ignores him and they kiss until Sirius turns around again and falls asleep snug and secure in Remus' arms.
The following days the others note a significant reduction in whining. Because thanks to Remus, Sirius has cold water, warm tea, and tissues at hand before he can say it. He has nearly constant company and a loving hand clutching his whenever he reaches for it.
When Sirius starts to get better, Remus doesn’t demand any return of the affectionate favor. He just quietly withdraws, leaving Sirius feeling just a little alone before he returns to his usual activities. He wouldn’t have attended a quidditch training just yet, but this afternoon it’s only a tactics-discussion.
When he comes back Remus is already asleep and he decides to not disturb him. No wonder he is tired after meticulously taking care of him for almost a week. He deserves some alone time.
The next day Remus is pulling his robe tightly around himself and shuddering a little as he moves quietly between classes.
“How are you, love?” Sirius rubs his back with a concerned look.
“It’s nothing. Just tired.” Remus tries to smile reassuringly and still his sniffles. Because of course, he’s got a cold now. Just like Sirius said he was.
Sick Remus is a quiet Remus. If he could, he would disappear altogether or become invisible until it was over.
Remus clearly remembers being a child, crying in pain after a full moon. His parents sitting on the outermost edge of the bed, patting and stroking him with awkwardly outstretched arms and weary eyes. That troubled look in his mother’s eyes every time he mentioned feeling tired or nauseous or having a nightmare. His parent’s voices from the kitchen, low and worried, when they thought he’d fallen asleep. Not quite sure how the whole lycanthropy-thing worked, always wondering if it could mean something would happen with him, something that made him dangerous.
In essence, being ill has always been a bad thing. A thing that drives even the ones who love you away.
So, when Sirius climbs the portrait hole and enters the common room after that night’s detention and sees Remus sitting in the furthest corner, muffling his coughs as best he can and discreetly holding a tissue to his running nose, he finds it absolutely heartbreaking.
He fetches Remus' favorite sweater, a cup of tea, and a bar of chocolate. He moves a chair to sit right next to Remus but ends up sharing his armchair instead. And Remus just can’t believe how lucky he is to have someone willing to be close to him always, not just on his bright days. He ends up closing his eyes and resting his head against Sirius' chest. When he falls asleep Sirius carefully puts a piece of parchment to mark the side Remus thumb is and puts the book away. He takes Remus in his arms and tries to carry him, but has to put him down by the stairs. Remus smiles and let himself drowsily be led up to his bed and swiftly drifts back to sleep.
That night he clings feverishly to Sirius and burrows his face against his chest. Every time Sirius is woken up by Remus gripping at his clothes or holding him crushingly tight in his sleep, he smiles and gently strokes the hair out of his clammy face and rubs his back for a little bit.
The next morning Sirius carefully wraps Remus in the blanket and asks what to bring him for breakfast. After “You don’t have to bring anything”, “Whatever”, and “Doesn’t matter” are met with silent refusal, Remus sighs “Toast with jam, then”. Sirius brings him one piece of toast with every kind of jam he can find and a big cup of tea.
And over the course of the next days, Remus slowly starts to voice his needs and wishes. First, because he knows that if he doesn’t, Sirius will just keep asking until he gets an answer, and Sirius who normally can be unreasonably stubborn has taken this principle on with unimaginable determination. And later, because he knows that all Sirius wants is to do whatever he can to make him feel better, even if it’s something childishly needy like holding his hand while he naps.
And when they are both themselves again, they look at each other in a different light. They both know that what they have is worth the world and they are never ever going to give it up.

Remus Lupin was that type of person that makes you feel better when you're in a bad moment. Really. If you need comfort, talks with Remus, he's a comfort person, always there for you with his arms open! Even when he's having a bad moment, he's gonna be kind with you. That's why I love my Moony!

Traditions (2/9)
A little later than intended, but here it is: second year, second tradition
Previous Part
Next Part
December 1972
Second year was tough for Sirius. Regulus was finally with him at Hogwarts, but across the castle in a different house and refusing to be seen talking to his brother. They still spoke, but Regulus insisted on hiding in broom closets and leaving separately, lest someone report back to their parents that he had been seen with the traitor.
His parents were getting progressively more insufferable. At first, they had sent him a weekly Howler, bemoaning that he couldn't be more like Regulus and that he kept getting into trouble. Thankfully, that didn't last very long. By his thirteenth birthday, they were completely ignoring him, not even sending a note for the rest of term, even though he knew they'd been told about the Marauders' latest antics.
The next he heard from them was a short note, just one sentence sent by owl the day before winter break began.
"Your presence is neither required nor welcome home this holiday."
He showed the note to McGonagall immediately, added his name to the list of students staying over the break, and watched with resignation as his brother left with everyone else to go home for Christmas.
His only saving grace was that he wouldn't be alone in Gryffindor tower, as Remus was staying over the holiday too. The full moon fell too close to Christmas for his comfort, and his parents were visiting his great-grandparents who he had never met for the holiday, so he had opted to stay at school too.
There weren't any other Gryffindor students staying behind, although there were a few scattered between the other houses, but Remus and Sirius had the tower to themselves. They spent their days playing in the snow and warming up by the fire in the common room, playing endless games of chess. They once again made a gingerbread house and ate the whole thing just the two of them.
The problem came at night, when Remus was already asleep and Sirius found himself wide awake, staring out the window and wondering what was going on at home. Was Regulus having fun? Did he know that their parents had asked Sirius not to come? Or did he think it was his brother's idea? Had anyone asked about him at all?
On Christmas Eve, Sirius found himself in the same place as midnight drew closer. He knew he wouldn't be receiving any gifts from his family, not even Reg, and for the first time wondered if he should just suck it up and try to be a better son.
"Sirus?"
He jumped and turned to see Remus staring at him groggily from his bed.
"Why're you 'wake?"
"Couldn't sleep," Sirius whispered back. "Go back to sleep, Rem. I'll be okay."
Remus shook his head and sat up. He rubbed his eyes before reaching for a book at his bedside and gesturing for Sirius to come over.
He obeyed easily, going to sit next to Remus, leaning against the headboard. Remus pulled the covers over their legs and opened his book to a dog-eared page.
"My mom used to read this to me before bed every Christmas Eve," he explained. "It would help me sleep even though I was overexcited about the next day."
He shifted until he was lying down properly and pulled Sirius, indicating that he should do the same.
"Close your eyes, Sirius," he whispered.
Sirius stared at his friend across their shared pillow for a moment, grey eyes meeting brown in the dark dorm. Finally, he closed his eyes and Remus began to read.
Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;

glow - january 1st - jegulus and wolfstar - @taylorswiftmicrofic - word count: 275 - NSFW
"Oh, no. Absolutely not," Sirius said as soon as he walked into the sitting room of the flat, voice full of disgust. "One meter apart at all times, please."
James, who had been sitting next to Regulus and talking with him, looked up at his friend with an annoyed expression. "What the fuck, Sirius?"
"Just because I'm okay with my baby brother and my best friend being....together," Sirius said, shivering dramatically with horror, "does not mean you can fornicate in the middle of the flat! One meter, now!"
James rolled his eyes. "We're barely holding hands." It was true. Though he and Regulus were close, they were, really, in a very innocent position.
Regulus, however, seemed to decide he was done with the conversation. "Oh, stop. As if you and Remus haven't fucked on this very couch, Sirius. As if I can't hear the disgusting things you do to each other every time he comes over. As if your hair isn't all fucked up and you don't have bite marks all down you neck right now because you weren't getting pounded into the mattress less than an hour ago!"
James let out a snort, trying not to laugh outright. Sirius did have a bit of a post-sex glow.
Before Sirius could retort, Remus sealed his fate by walking into the room and muttering, "He has a point, love," while grinning madly.
"Too right. Now, I'll be sharing the couch with my boyfriend, and you two can stay far apart on the armchairs," Regulus said, rolling his eyes.
Of course, Sirius and Remus ended up sharing one armchair, but they were all comfortable in the end.

i'm quite alright darling, hope the same goes for you<3 this little drabble is written with the same cat!animagus!reader i've written for reggie so far in mind (whiskers, my love) since she's known to be petty...
Words: 1.3k
Warnings: fem!reader, minor fight (lighthearted), embarrassment, you're petty, regulus grovels, black brothers have poor people skills, make-up, background wolfstar and (judgemental) bsf!remus

"How long has she been like this?"
Sirius was eyeing Regulus funnily, seemingly drawn between wanting to laugh at him and wondering if maybe he should comfort him. Remus felt none of the latter sentiments and all of the former.
"Since our last class on Friday," Regulus replied miserably from where his face was buried in his hands, resting atop his knees. "She shifted immediately after."
"So... for over 24 hours," Sirius surmised.
That was apparently the wrong thing to say, based on how Regulus lifted his head from where he was practically bent in half, just to glare at his older brother. "Thanks for doing the maths, Sirius. Not the problem I needed solving, though." Throughout his sentence, his eyes increasingly narrowed at his brother as if his irritation grew with every word.
"No, your problem," Remus volleyed. "Is whatever the hell you've done."
Regulus groaned and buried his face once more.
Across the common room from the trio, a white and grey cat was pettily walking back and forth along whatever furniture it could reach. Its tail was standing up straight, whipping about in annoyance.
Remus poked Regulus in the ribs to get a response. "What'd you do, Baby Black?"
"I may or may not have corrected her in Potions in front of Slughorn, even though she may have been working on gaining his respect all term," Regulus murmured.
The chuckle that escaped Remus was finally one of understanding. "Ah," he said through a smile. "I believe that is what we in the business call a rookie mistake."
Regulus sat up with a jerk, hands moving emotively as he made his case to his brother and brother-in-law, where they were sat on top of each other in a plush chair. "But I've apologised! Profusely, and several times! I don't know what else to do?" The last sentence was voiced as a question, though it was not formulated as one. Perhaps the closest the younger Black brother could get to asking for help.
"Maybe you should give Slughorn a speech about how great she is."
Regulus quirked up at that, eyes zeroing in on Sirius. "You really think that would work?" Remus could have burst out laughing at the lack of sarcasm in the younger boy's voice.
"No," Remus said softly, while chidingly patting Sirius' knee. "Don't listen to him, you lot have the same amount of people skills. Do you know your girlfriend, Regulus?"
"Yes?" Regulus' voice was uncertain, looking between the boys with furrowed brows.
"What usually motivates her to hold a grudge?" Remus prompted then, ever patient.
He was quiet for a minute as he thought. "When she feels wronged. Like when Evan apologised for her 'interpretaion' of what he said instead of for him hurting her feelings, and she disliked him for three years."
Remus nodded solemnly. "And is there a reason she might still feel wronged by you now?"
Regulus' gaze finally fixated on the cat across the room, nodding too as the puzzle pieces slowly assembled in his mind. "I apologised for correcting her... but not embarrassing her. She probably feels like I was lording over her or something."
"Meaning..?" Gods, Remus was really laying it on thick here. The curse of the Black family.
"I should go tell her as much." Regulus nodded and moved to hurry over towards you, swinging around at the last minute to give the two boys an almost-smile. "Uh, thanks Sirius. Remus."
Then he was off.
Sirius turned his face into Remus' cheek. "No idea what he's thanking me for; you did all the talking."
Remus sighed, melting further into his boyfriend. "That's what I've been saying."
Regulus tenderly approached you, sitting down somewhat gingerly in a chair beside the table you were currently parading around. "Hi, amour," he said softly. "Can we talk?"
You just wagged your tail in response, in a fashion Regulus has come to learn means displeasure.
"Please love, I want to give you a proper apology. It would be best to do so face-to-face, no?" He reached his hand out towards you, an open invitation. You stopped for a moment to regard him, but then lightly slapped at his hand to get it out of your face. Regulus decided to take it as a victory that your claws were retracted at the very least – you weren't out for blood.
“Okay,” he said through a breath. “I guess I’ll just… talk to a kitten and look crazy.” Upon your quiet hiss, he amended, “Talk to a cat, sorry. Gods, I’m sputtering today, aren’t I?” That final part you seemed to agree upon at least.
“Amour, I am truly deeply sorry for embarrassing you like that. It was such a little thing, and Slughorn has been so unfair towards you this year. I didn't mean to set you back in your progression with him, though frankly, he is in the wrong there, not you. As am I. For someone who feels like he can go around correcting people, that was quite air-headed of me, yeah? The one person keeping me grounded is you, amour, please would you come back to me? You can give me a proper scolding if you’d like, I can take it.”
Regulus was pouring his heart out, and if he dared to hope, he thought your feline face might have softened. You walked closer to him, seemingly studying his face.
Then, you jumped off the table and ran away.
He sighed heavily, letting his forehead fall down to the table with a light thump. If you were going to keep giving him the furred shoulder, he might just stay here. It was hard work being a tosser who’s missing his girlfriend.
Before he could wallow further in his sorrows, he felt a soft hand be placed on his shoulder. A touch he would recognise anywhere.
His head flew up from the table to look up at you – standing above him, smiling softly and somewhat sheepishly. The hand on his shoulder grew bolder, squeezing, while the other came up to cup the side of his face. Regulus ignored any instinct to cower away and instead happily melted into your touch.
“Hi, baby,” you whispered, and he knew he was mostly forgiven.
Emboldened by this new development, he turned in his seat so that his body faced you, slotting you in between his thighs and letting his hands come to rest heavily at the top of your hip. “Hi amour,” he breathed out, reverent. “Thank you.”
“For what?” you laughed, and he knew you knew what. He indulged you anyway.
“Coming back to me.” His voice was murmured, eyes hooded as he stared up at you. “I miss you when you remain as Whiskers, you know?”
“I do know,” you teased. “That’s kind of the whole point, yeah? Make you think.”
He shook his head and leaned his forehead tentatively against your stomach. “A cruel punishment, but an understandable one. I truly am sorry, I didn’t mean to.”
Regulus sighed when your hand migrated to scratch through his hair. “I know, baby. I just wanted to hear you say it. And–” at this point he could hear the blush in your voice “– at some point it just became principle. Too late to back out.”
Laughing against the fabric of your shirt, he moved to rest his chin against you, gazing up at you at an angle that was slightly uncomfortable but definitely worth it. He let a small grin slip. “Stubborn minx,” he whispered.
“Oi!” you chided gently. “You’re in no position to levy such accusations, mister.”
“I can’t imagine loving you more,” he said through a sigh, not even thinking over the words. They were just right, and demanded to be brought up.
If the way your body melted against his was anything to go by, you didn’t mind.
A booming voice cut the moment short. “You two are painfully dramatic,” Sirius yelled from across the room, clearly having paid attention to the whole make-up conversation. “Please never fight again.”
“And that’s coming from Sirius Black,” Remus added solemnly, earning himself an indignant swat from his partner.
“He’s right,” Regulus whispered conspiratorially to you. “I cannot be the most dramatic Black brother, that would be blasphemy.”
“Then I suggest,” you said before giving him a light peck, “you be on your best behaviour from now on.
A grin. “Yes ma’am.”

hello my sweet gorgeous mae!!
how we feeling abt a fic where reader has some difficulty regulating her emotions when she’s upset and just some casual poly!wolfstar dominance. girl honestly just needs a hug and someone to validate her feelings tbh
Hi lovely, thank you for requesting!! I did give her a reason for her upset which in retrospect I probably should have just left vague but I hope it doesn't take you out of it and if anyone knows anything that makes them think this relates to me in any way no it literally doesn't why would you think that
cw: somewhat subtle/implicit d/s dynamics (really just a couple joking mentions of "rules" or "bans")
poly!wolfstar x fem!reader ♡ 1k words
You’re grateful to come home to an empty apartment. No sooner does the door shut behind you than the sob that’s been building in your chest jostles its way out. You hug your bag to your front and go to the floor, crying.
You don’t hold back. You let tears flow down your cheeks and take short, jagged breaths to fuel even more, curling your knees towards your chest and pushing your fingertips into your forehead.
Your heartbeat is loud enough in your ears that it takes you a second to register the sound of footsteps on the stairs, but you notice when they pick up their pace as they draw closer. Not, evidently, so empty an apartment after all.
“Dovey.” Remus sounds gutted. You open your eyes, and he looks it, too. Sirius comes up behind him, both of their forms blurring as they crouch in front of you. “What happened?”
You shake your head. “I—I didn’t—” You’re crying like a child, all choked sobs and snivelly voice. “I didn’t—”
“Shh, that’s okay.” Sirius takes your face in his hands. His hold is firm but his thumbs gentle as they brush over your cheeks. “Just nod yes or no for me, my love. Are you hurt?”
You shake your head.
Some of the worry eases from his features, but his brows pinch sympathetically. “Just sad?”
You open your mouth to answer him, and a hiccup of sobs spills out.
Sirius makes a pained sound and pulls you to him. Remus murmurs, “Oh, sweetheart.”
You try to speak again into the material of Sirius’ shirt, to apologize for coming home like this, but both boys shush you, Sirius rubbing your back while Remus gives your arm a squeeze and leans over to kiss your head.
Remus takes your shoes off for you, and Sirius helps him ease your bag off your shoulder without ever really loosening his hold on you. They move you to the couch. Your boyfriends work in quiet harmony, one always comforting you while the other takes measures to make you more practically comfortable.
“Dove, listen to me,” Remus says after a while. “You’re going to make yourself sick. Take a deep breath.”
You try, inhaling only for it to come jerking back out of you on another sob. “I can’t.”
“You can.” Sirius rubs your back. “Keep trying, baby.”
They talk you through deep breaths for a while, until you start to calm and it’s only Sirius’ voice in your ear, low and reassuring while Remus goes to get something from the kitchen.
He passes you a cold glass of water when he gets back, while Sirius is scraping damp pieces of hair back from your face. Presses it into your hands.
You sniffle. “I’m not really thirsty.”
“You’re going to be dehydrated after all that. You don’t have to drink it all at once,” he says, and the message is clear: but you do have to drink it. “Take your time if you need to.”
You take a shaky breath, bringing the glass to your lips.
“There you go.” Sirius kisses your cheek. You love and hate when they gang up on you like this. You’re between them on the couch, quite literally the center of attention. It’s both comforting and overwhelming. “Now, are you ready to say what’s wound you up so badly?”
You swallow, nodding. “Sorry,” you say, and you still sound congested, “I didn’t think anyone was home.”
Sirius tsks. “You know the s word is banned.” He somehow manages to strike a tone that’s both loving and stern. “You don’t get to start bending the rules because you’ve had a bad day.”
“You shouldn’t feel like you can’t cry when we’re here, either, sweetheart,” Remus adds.
“Probably wouldn’t have made such a spectacle of it, though.” You attempt a feeble smile. Neither boy looks amused. “It was only that I got my rejection from the Lunds job.”
“Oh.” Remus' face creases with sympathy. He rubs your thigh. “You really wanted that one, yeah?”
You shrug, but tears fill your eyes again against your will, dribbling down your cheeks. “I thought I had a good feeling about that one,” you whisper. Sirius starts stroking between your shoulder blades again. “It was stupid.”
“I’m beginning to think we should ban every s word,” Sirius mutters. There’s no bite to it, though, and when you crack a smile he kisses underneath your ear. “It wasn’t stupid, baby. You were excited about it.”
Remus’ voice is a low hum. “It’s not just about this one job, though, is it?”
You look at him, tasting salt in the seam of your lips.
“You’ve been anxious about all this for a long while,” he says, thumb moving over your knee in a slow, soothing back-and-forth. “I think you put all your stock into this one, and now it’s caught up to you, but this was never the only one that mattered. You can still find a job somewhere else.”
“I just…” You draw in a breath, trying to steady yourself. “I thought I was so perfect for this one. If they didn’t want me” —your voice wavers— “how can I expect to ever get one?”
“Angel, I love you, and you know I think you’re a genius ahead of your time,” says Sirius, “but that is some very shoddy reasoning. You’ve no idea who else applied. They might’ve had fucking superman in their stack of applications, and you could’ve been their second choice. That’s not going to happen every time.”
“But it is still,” Remus tells you, taking your hand in his, “very hard to feel like you weren’t good enough. I’m sure all you’ve been putting in without getting results weighs on you, yeah?”
You bite down hard on your lower lip to keep from bursting into tears again. Somehow Remus always knows how to get to the heart of the issue.
“Yeah,” you say softly.
“Oh, I know, sweet girl.” He pulls you into his side, kissing your head. “You’ve worked so hard. But it’ll all pay off in the end, alright? What’s say we have a break for tonight. No more applications, just relaxing.”
“Yeah,” Sirius agrees for you. “After a good cry like that, I think a film and some cuddles are in order.”
“These aren’t already cuddles?” you joke wetly.
He makes an offended squawking noise. “Not proper ones. Get your cozies on and let Rem make us a hot cocoa, babydoll, and then we’ll remind you what real cuddles are like.”

hi <3 this is super self-indulgent haha…but would you be willing to write a poly!wolfstar with a reader who still has their like raggedy lovey stuffed animal from when they were a baby that maybe they were hiding from the boys and how they react to finding out? xx
Hello hello~! This is absolutely adorable! I’m definitely guilty of holding onto childhood plushies too, so this is a bit self-indulgent for me as well. I really hope you enjoy!!!
Poly!Wolfstar x Fem!Reader WC: 1.1k
You flop down onto the fresh, unfamiliar bed, surrounded by boxes and bags, the remnants of your old flat strewn across the floor. Today was all about hauling practically everything from your last place into your boyfriend's house—your new home.
You’re grateful for this room of your own. It’s small, but that was your one non-negotiable condition. You love them both fiercely, but there’s something about having a sanctuary to retreat to, a space that’s just yours.
Their bed may be huge, but you know yourself: the thought of sharing it every night feels a bit too close for comfort, especially with everyone's mismatched schedules.
Plus, you’ve learned the hard way about Sirius’s habit of kicking in his sleep. He’d boot you clear off the bed at four in the morning if you gave him the chance. And Remus? He’s a snuggler—a heavy, unyielding snuggler. When he wraps an arm around you, it’s like being pinned by a warm, affectionate weight. Charming, absolutely, but not so convenient when you really have to pee in the morning.
So here you are, content but completely drained, with the three of you spending most of the day heaving boxes into the car and scrubbing down your old flat.
“Oh, it feels good to just lie down,” you groan, the ache of a long day catching up with you.
“I told you to wear comfortable shoes, dove,” Remus says softly, leaning against the doorframe and watching you with a fond smile.
You turn your head, flashing him a tired grin. “In my defense, I thought these were comfortable.”
“And is our princess now resting in her royal quarters?” Sirius quips, appearing just behind Remus, fresh from hauling a load of flattened boxes down to the bin.
“Absolutely,” you tease, shaking your head at his playful tone. “Thanks for helping me out. I’m sorry Marls had to back out last minute.” You sigh, thinking of how your best friend had called that morning with the news: her girlfriend had been in a minor accident at work and had to be rushed to the hospital. You could hardly blame her for canceling; if either of your boys were in the hospital, you’d drop everything to be there, too.
“Anytime, darling,” Sirius murmurs as he strolls into the room. With a dramatic flop, he lands on his back on the far side of the bed, letting out a soft “oof.” It’s an endearing sound that makes you laugh, even as you feel the day’s exhaustion settling in.
“Well?” You turn to Remus, a mischievous glint in your eye. “Planning to join us?” The question comes out with a flirtatious smile, hinting at just how much you’d love him to join you and Sirius.
Remus rolls his eyes, but there’s a softness there, too, as he lets out a gentle sigh. Shaking his head with a small, amused smile, he pads over to the foot of the bed and settles down, reaching for both of you. His hands find their way into your hair and Sirius’s, brushing through in a familiar, calming rhythm, almost like he’s petting two contented cats.
Sirius stretches his arms, accidentally knocking one of the many decorative pillows off the bed. With a groan, he slides down to his knees to retrieve it, grabbing the plush white pillow and tossing it haphazardly back onto the bed. But as he does, something else catches his eye—a faded mint-green fabric peeking out from an open duffel bag beside the bed.
“Siri?” Remus calls out, noticing that Sirius hasn’t returned to join them.
Curious, you sit up, wondering why he’s so distracted. Army-crawling to the edge of the bed, you spot his gaze fixed on the bag, and your heart skips a beat as you realize what he’s staring at.
Panicking, you scramble off the bed and slide down beside him, nearly losing your balance in the rush. Remus’s concerned voice cuts in as he leans over, “Dove, you alright?” But you’re already reaching for the item that has Sirius’s full attention, fumbling slightly in an attempt to tuck it out of sight.
Sirius’s brows lift with curiosity. “What are you hiding?” he asks, a mischievous grin playing on his lips as he tries to gently wrestle the object from you.
“Nothing!” you whine, feeling the heat rise in your cheeks.
Remus raises an eyebrow, clearly amused. “That doesn’t look like ‘nothing,’” he says with a smirk. “Especially if you’re going to all this trouble to hide it.”
You squeal, feeling a mix of embarrassment and nervousness as you pull the plush tightly to your chest.
Sirius’s hands stop their playful struggle, but he keeps them on your back, rubbing soothing circles as he softens his tone. “Baby?”
You groan, sitting up and holding the well-loved, slightly worn mint-colored bunny in your arms. The little plush flops over as you look down at it, feeling a bit sheepish.
"My mom got her for me when I was a baby," you explain, your voice quiet but steady. "I know it's childish to still sleep with plushies at my age, but... she's just always been there for me. Through everything—moving around, tough nights, even all the times I was scared or stressed. It’s like… having a little piece of home with me."
Sirius's expression softens, a warm smile tugging at his lips. "That’s not childish at all, Love," he says, rubbing a gentle hand over your back. "Everyone needs something that makes them feel safe."
Remus nods in agreement, reaching out to touch the bunny's worn little ear. "And besides," he says with a grin, "if anyone gives you trouble about it, just remember who they’re talking to. You’ve got two knights here who’d defend a bunny’s honor, no questions asked."
You laugh, feeling a rush of relief. Hugging the bunny a bit tighter, you feel their arms wrap around you, holding you just as close.
"I love you both so much—" your voice comes out soft, but the warmth in it is unmistakable. You don’t even get a chance to finish before Sirius practically pulls you into his lap, wrapping his arms tighter around you with a grin that practically lights up the room.
"Good," he says, squeezing you reassuringly. "Because we're not going anywhere."
Remus leans in on your other side, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear with that gentle smile of his. "We love you too," he murmurs. "And that bunny? She’s part of the family now."
You can’t help but laugh, your heart feeling lighter than it has in ages as you sit there, held in the arms of the two people who mean everything to you, with your cherished bunny nestled close. In that moment, you know for certain that home isn’t just a place—it’s right here, with them.

3rd Person POV
October 31st, 1980
The wait in the hospital was complete agony. Remus sat in an uncomfortable hospital waiting room chair. The only position that feels remotely comfortable is resting my head on my hands. His mind races faster and faster, watching his husband, Sirius, pace back and forth in front of him. James sits silently in the chair to the right of Remus. He’s trying his best to calm the pair down, but his words fall on deaf ears in Sirius and Remus’s overanalyzing ones.
“Mates, you both need to calm down. Everything will be just fine.”
Sirius stops his pacing and stares at James, his eyes wide with lack of sleep. “Calm down? What if something goes wrong? Why is it taking so long in the first place? It’s cause I’m stubborn, so they’re being stubborn to punish me? Fuck, I knew we should’ve used Remus’s-”
“Siri, stop talking.”  Remus’s voice and eyes were stern as he sat back in the chair to get a better look at Sirius. The topic of who was going to donate sperm has been a sensitive one from the moment a surrogate was mentioned. The risk of passing his lycanthropy onto their future children was enough for the werewolf to insist on using Sirius’s for the donor.
All Sirius does is roll his eyes and plop on the seat on the other side of Remus, head falling on Remus’s shoulder out of exhaustion and instinct. Remus’s hand slides into Sirius’s, their fingers intertwining.
“I mean it. Plus, our kids would have your hair and height. That’s a win in my book.” Sirius moves his eyes to look up at Remus, but his head stays stationary.
Remus brought their hands up to his lips and placed a gentle kiss on the back of his husband’s. “It’s a little late for that now, innit?”
The labor has been going on for 48 hours, but the couple’s anxieties have been going on since they found out the implantation was successful. It only intensified as the months went on, now at an all-time high. Both of them refusing to sleep in case the surrogate, Maud, started to push. They both wanted to be ready to run into the room and watch their daughters take their first breaths.
As much as James tried to calm them down and convince them to sleep just for a bit, Remus and Sirius were too stubborn and sleep-deprived to listen. James even called Lily, hoping she would talk sense into them, but with her stuck at home with a one-month-old Harry, her over-the-phone and sleep-deprived threats were far less intimidating.
“Sirius, labor takes time. Lily was in labor for 12 hours. And you have twins, so of course, it’s going to take longer.” James’s voice was empathetic, but this sentence has been said three times already. Every comforting thing James could think of has been said, causing the words to lose meaning to Sirius.
Although Remus was pretending to keep it together, he was a nervous wreck inside. He walked into the hospital as Remus Lupin: Wizard, Werewolf, Husband, but when he leaves, father will be added to that title.
The muggle hospital seemed odd to the three wizards. It was much more controlled and secretive than anything in the wizarding world. The wing they were in was decorated with blue, pink, and yellow, with a quiet lullaby playing every so often, signifying a new baby had been born. Every lullaby that goes off that isn’t to celebrate baby Lupin allows jealousy and anxiety to grow more and more.
“Sirius, Remus,” James takes a deep breath, “I know you don’t want to hear it, but maybe you should go home and get some sle-”
“Sirius and Remus Lupin?” A nurse in pink scrubs walks into the waiting room. Her eyes scan and spot the two men rising from their chairs. She smiles at them and pulls her mask down. “Your surrogate is pushing; we’ll have you wait outside the room until she’s done. Come with me.” She turns around, and then men are quick to follow.
James shouts a quick “Good luck!” but the fathers-to-be don’t even look back to respond.
The two husbands wait outside the delivery suite, their hands intertwined. They waited less than ten minutes, their minds going a million kilometers a second, but none of those thoughts mattered when they heard a faint cry behind the door followed by a quiet lullaby version of “Happy Birthday” playing over the speakers.
Remus’s eyes widen, the weight being lifted off his shoulders. Sirius’s smile widens immediately. It isn’t until they hear a second cry that the couple hug each other. Happy tears flow from Sirius’s eyes while he laughs out of relief. The soft lullaby plays again for the second baby girl, signaling everything is going well in the delivery room.
A soft knock coming from inside the room interrupts their celebration. A nurse in pink scrubs walks into the hallway and smiles at the couple. “Would you like to come in and meet your daughters?”
Sirius kisses Remus’s head as they enter the room. They’re given a bit of hand sanitizer before being given their little girls to hold. The two husbands thanked the surrogate a million times before being taken into a separate room to fill out paperwork as Maud recovered.
The twins were no longer ideas and possibilities; they were real and in their arms.
The two walk out into the waiting room with the babies swaddled in a soft pink blanket and pale yellow hats. Sirius’s tears started again when he saw the mass of people in the waiting room. It was no longer James, but everyone important in their lives was there to support the new parents. Lily was there with Harry, Regulus, Peter, Marlene and Dorcus, Mary, Alice, and Frank, who brought Neville. Even Andromeda showed up.
“Everyone,” Remus’s voice was still a whisper, yet loud enough for the whole crowd to hear. “I am happy to present to you for the first time ever Willow Lily Lupin. Born at 7 lbs and 2 ounces. 1st born by 3 minutes.” He raises his elbow a bit, letting people get a better look at the sleeping baby in his arms.
“And this is Selene Andromeda Lupin, who stands at 7 lbs and 5 ounces.” Sirius continues, smiling at the little bundle in his arms. His gaze couldn’t be broken even if he tried, and he didn’t want to.
Regulus smiled softly before speaking up. “W and S, Wolf and Star, I’m assuming?” His eyes were locked on his big brother, someone he’d seen in this caring and protective role before, but this time it seemed out of love instead of fear. Regulus also wanted to start crying happy tears, but he refused to be in front of a large group.
“I guess it is.” Sirius grinned and looked up at his brother before looking back down at the sleeping baby. “Hell, my Little Star.”
“So Willow is Little Wolf then?” James ran the back of his finger over Willow’s cheek, replicating something he often does to Harry when he sleeps.
“I guess she is.” Remus's smile grows more if that is even possible. “Our little Wolf.”
Sirius turns to his husband beaming. So much love and happiness filled his eyes. “Our girls.”
Remus met Sirius’s gaze with the same love and tenderness. “Our girls.”

watching the harry potter movies again as 1. an adult and 2. a marauders’ fan is a painful experience:
the mirror of Erised scenes make me cry now. also the fact that they aged up lily and james makes it worse because i keep picturing them as 21 years olds. harry was 11. they were only 10 years older than him. it is actually horrifying. when ollivander said that it felt like yesterday that his parents were buying their wands, it had only been 21 years.
anytime harry is in the dorm room i think about the marauders. i reckon the castle was funky and he ended up in their old dorm room. maybe even james’ old bed. i make myself upset. what if there are little carvings in the bedposts of all their initials?? what then??
every time harry sits by that little window in the dorm my brain goes to wolfstar smoking (together or alone) by that window. i can picture it so clearly.
when mcgonagall looks at harry i just know she is seeing james (and lily). but those quidditch stunts he pulls like standing up on his broom in the first movie to catch the snitch definitely reminded her of sirius and james. there is no way they wouldn’t pull that sort of dangerous crap and then end up in the hospital wing.
oh and snape. he sees his bully and his best friend in harry. just thought i’d throw that in there.
and of course. the resurrection stone scene. i bawl at that anyway, with the marauders stuff on top… i fear it will break me beyond repair. again, a reminder that james and lily were only 3 years older than harry in that scene. they were still babies and they were comforting their baby as he goes to die. it is so heartbreaking.
if sirius had seen ginny and harry together, for a second he would have seen james and lily. PAIN.

Chapter 19: Silver Bird
When you come home, my crazy heart will greet those silver wings Your pet dog will remember you, and I'll carry your things We'll catch a runnin' make-up, and you will look just fine And you'll remain my friend, my friend until you're mine
It was finally Saturday, James had you arrive at the pitch an hour and a half before the match was going to start, so you could warm up properly. You still had thirty minutes to get there, and you were rummaging through your neverending chest to try and find the stupid blue undies you’d promised to wear.
“Is it this ones?” Mary asked, as she sat next to you.
You looked at the piece she had in her hand and you shook your head, “Those aren’t very comfortable for flying.”
She nodded and continued looking through the chest. Lily, who was looking through your dresser asked “You said cute, baby blue, matching set, right?”
“Yeah,” you responded, not looking at her yet.
“I think I’ve got them.” She said, taking the pair out and showing it to you. You beamed and got up from the floor towards her, giving her a quick kiss on the forehead “It’s perfect, thank you!” you said as you took them from her hands and went inside the bathroom.
“That was a very Sirius thing to do,” said Marlene from her bed as she laced her shoes.
Mary agreed “Sometimes they’re so alike it’s scary.”
“I don’t think so,” said Lily, with a hand on her chin. “She’s not that much like Sirius, if anything I’d say she’s more like Remus.”
“Remus? How?” Asked Beth, she had dropped by to get ready with the girls, they were all planning to use some coloured paint on their faces, along all the Gryffindor memorabilia they had gathered.
“Well, she’s responsible and caring. And she always helps everyone in the study clubs. And even if she hangs out with the boys all the time, she’s never gotten detention. Remus almost never gets detention either. They both know their way around it, somehow.”
“Well, when you say it like that…”
Finally, the door of the bathroom opened and you walked outside, your thick quidditch pants on, along with a simple shirt you were planning to wear underneath your quidditch sweater. You looked out the window, it was getting greyer and grayer “You think it’s gonna rain?” you asked.
“On the forecast, it said it wouldn’t,” said Beth, who had revised it on the papers at breakfast.
“But the current climate divintor is really bad,” complained Marlene “The other day I planned a picnic with Holden, and it said it would be sunny. We were in the middle of the way to the spot we’d found when a storm broke out, we had to use charms to stop the rain from ruining our day.”
“Better take the anti-slippery gloves then,” Beth said, as she picked out a pair from the ones you had laid out on the bed, “just in case.”
You nodded, and took them in your hands, before placing them on the small duffle bag in which you were packing the rest of your equipment. Including the Quidditch robes and anything other than the sweater and the pants. “You’ve already eaten right?” Mary asked.
“Yeah, like 2 hours ago,” you said with a nod “I wanted enough time to digest before flying.
“Brilliant idea!” she said with a smile “Last time Marlene ate last minute she was puking when the game ended.
“That’s because I got a bludger on the edge my broom and spinned around like 30 times,” she huffed, and then turned to you “Ready for your first game luv?”
“Born ready,” you said, with a little smirk.
Marlene mirrored your expression, “That’s exactly what I expected to hear.”
Once in the pitch, you spotted James and Teddy talking to each other, Davis and Gale were sitting on a bench, and you weren’t sure where Sirius was, that was until you felt someone hugged you from behind and planted a kiss on your cheek “You look stunning in those clothes Starshine,” he said as he tightened his grip around your waist.
Sirius was still hugging you when James asked everyone to gather closer to him. And he didn’t let go of you even as James spoke “This is the first match of the year, and we must give it our all! Ravenclaw has a fierce team, Holden is a brilliant seeker, Tobias and Penelope are fierce with the bludgers, they will try to hit every single one of us, and even if we have Sirius and Marlene to protect us, you need to keep an eye on the bludgers at all time. Especially you,” he said, giving you a look “They will try to throw you off your broom.”
You nodded as you took a deep breath, the seekers and the keepers always got the worst of the bludgers, you knew that already, but the seekers had a wider moving area, while as a keeper, you’d have to stay closer to the goals “I’ll have your back,” Sirius whispered in your ear as James continued his speech.
“Their chasers are good, I don’t know much of the newer kids but Adrian is fast, not as fast as you Gale, but fast regardless, keep an eye on him at all times, the further we keep their ball from our goals the better, even if we have (Y/N).”
Teddy intervened later “Just pay full attention to your surroundings at all times, we can beat them, we’ve trained enough.”
“Time for warm-up,” James said then, and had you do a couple of exercises before allowing you to go up in your brooms for a few laps around the pitch.
When you had 10 minutes left, James had you all come down to fasten all the quidditch protection equipment accordingly. He handed you a bag, with a thick brown helmet and a chest plate as well. “I forgot the keeper’s equipment was some of the less glamorous,” you said as you looked at them, he laughed.
“You know how to put it on, don’t you?”
You nodded, and dragged the items to the side, starting with the shin and knee protectors and slowly moving your way up to the chest.
Sirius, who had a lot less things to put on, was done before you and he walked closer to you “Need help?”
“I’m good,” you said as you continued fastening your arm protections. When you put on the breast protector, you started struggling with the fastening, and Sirius closed the gap between the two of you.
“Let me,” he said, his hands over yours, fastening the sides of the thing with ease “It’s that too tight?”
You shook your head, still grasping the fact that you weren’t alone anymore, that you could depend on him, on your new friends. You grabbed the helmet and turned to him “How do I look now?” you asked with a teasing smile, the helmet still held between your hands.
Sirius smirked before he answered “Ravishing.”
You laughed, tilting your head back as you let yourself completely indulge in the fun. Sirius was looking at you adoringly as you tittered, at the way your eyes would crinkle and your smile grew wide. He stared, shamelessly, until he heard someone calling for you from the side, he placed his hand over your shoulder and nodded to their way. You were still smiling when you turned to look at the direction Sirius was pointing at, it was Nina and Sybil.
“Hey, girls!” You said as you approached them happily, almost skipping towards them, Nina had a Gryffindor scarf on and Sybil was holding a pair of red and yellow flags in her hands “You’ll get jinxed by your house members,” you told them motioning to the Gryffindor memorabilia they had on.
“We’re not really close to the players,” Sbybil said with a shrug, of course she wouldn’t care.
“But we do know you.” Nina said with a smile “We brought you something,” she added before bringing her hand inside the messenger bag she had hung across her shoulder and taking out a blue ribbon. Something blue.
“For me?” You asked with a small smile.
“So you remember not all Ravenclaws are against you today,” Nina said. “Sybil says it’s for good luck too.”
“It is,” Sybil confirmed. “Why do you think ladies used to tie something on the lances of the men they liked before a joust? If a person who really cares about you gives it to you, it will be infused with a special kind of magic.”
“Well then, you may tie it wherever you want,” You said with a smile, walking a little closer to the girls, Nina was the one to attach it, lacing it through the thinner side of the chest protection you had on, carefully tying it into a neat little bow.
“I feel like I should say something…” she said with a little smile, you nodded, prompting her to speak “Oh fair lady,” she stated, in a very theatrical tone, even faking a strong Scottish accent “May this token of…”
“–Of affection,” offered Sybil.
“Of affection?” Nina asked with a frown, turning back to her natural voice. Sybil nodded fervently and Nina shrugged, clearing her throat before continuing “May this token of our… devoted affection… deliver you from all evil and take you to victory…” She turned to Sybil, who gave her a thumbs up, and finally, she pulled her hands from your chestplate, a little blush showing on her face.
You smiled, and leaned a little, “Thank you, my lady,” you said in the tone a true knight would, and then looked up at the two girls with a cheeky grin, still mid bow.
You got a soft punch from Nina on the arm “Don’t make it even sillier.”
“I’m not being silly!” you said in between laughs “I’m truly happy you came to support me today.”
Sirius finally came over and placed an arm over your shoulder, bringing you a little closer to him “Can you believe our little Starshine just got a lady’s favour?” He asked James, who was just a couple of metres behind “When have we ever gotten one of those? And from a pair of Ravenclaws nonetheless.”
“It’s for good luck,” Nina said reproachfully. “It’s her first match, don’t tease her so much about it.”
“It’s all right Nina,” you said with a cheeky little smile “Sirius is just jealous.”
He pouted, “Can’t I get a cute ribbon too?”
“Has to be given by someone who really cares about you,” Nina said casually.
“Auch,” Sirius said dramatically.
Nina opened her eyes wide “I didn’t mean that I didn’t ca…”
“He’s just teasing you luv,” you said reassuringly. “Here, lean a little closer,” you told Sirius, when he did, you placed a soft kiss on the corner of his lips. “How’s that for your lady’s favour?” you asked with a teasing grin. Nina averted her gaze from the two of you and Sybil gave her a sympathetic glance.
“Hm… Not sure,” Sirius responded “Might need it to be a little longer, for good measure, you know?”
Finally, Sybil cleared her throat “We’ll go find a good place to sit,” she said with a smile.
“Good luck!” Nina told you with a tight smile before turning to go.
You walked out of Sirius’ grasp and towards her and Sybil “Girls wait!” you said as you grabbed onto Nina’s shoulder “Thank you,” you said earnestly, “for everything.”
Nina smiled, seeing as how you had run to catch her “It’s nothing, really. We wanted to be here.”
“Yeah,” Sybil said, “You do your magic, we’ll be here, rooting for you.”
You smiled at the two of them one last time and they took off towards the bleachers. “Ready for the match?” Remus’ soft voice came from behind, startling you in a good way.
You turned to him and nodded “James had us warm up and even gave us a team spirit speech. It was inspiring.”
Remus caught the slight sarcasm in your tone and chuckled “You’ll be wearing that?” he asked as he motioned to your helmet still in your hand.
You nodded “Keepers are one of the main targets of the bludgers. James wouldn’t let me play without it. Merlin forbid something happens to one of his players,” he chuckled again, leaning down just a little to take the helmet from your hands and place it over your head “What are you doing?”
“Making sure James’ little star-keeper is as safe as she should,” He said casually as he fastened the straps under your chin.
“I was waiting until the very last minute to put it on…”
“Why? You get too hot with it?”
“Not at all, I just think I look like an egg,” you said with a pout.
Remus stepped back just a little, too look at you better “Well, I think you look cute.”
You laughed, and hit him on the shoulder playfully “Sure thing Rem,” you said dismissively, then you heard the blow of the whistle. “Game’s calling,” you said with a dashing smile before walking back to the pitch, Remus stared at your receding figure as you walked towards the pitch.
As you gathered around everyone you managed to see the rest of your friends walking over the bleachers to find a seat. Tom was wearing face paint, just like the rest of the girls, a few stripes of red and gold painted across their cheek. Lily had a banner in her hand that had a fierce-looking lion roaring, and it had written down the names of all the members of the team. Some other people in the crowd had reused the memorabilia from the race, so you even saw a couple of people wearing some of the pins with your faces on them.
Another blow to the whistle and you were walking alongside James to the centre of the pitch. “Captains, step forward!” Said a young Professor you hadn’t met before, but that you’d seen around meals, he must be the flying instructor, you thought. Both James and Lionel did as told, he turned to Lionel “Ready?”
“Ready!”
He turned to James and the boy responded “Ready!”
The teacher nodded, and then gave you a look “Keepers, positions,” he said. Both you and Lionel mounted your brooms and flew toward your places. The wind howled in your ears as you hovered in front of the goals. It was a cold day, and you were thankful you had so much protection gear on since it was enough to keep you a little warm, at least until the action started.
You saw the Professor release the snitch, you could see it glistening with the bit of sun that the clouds allowed to pass through, it circled around James and Holden, taunting them before disappearing into the air. Everyone mounted their brooms. The crowd cheered as the game was just about to start. The atmosphere felt electric and thrilling, the wind pushing you towards your hoops as you steadied your broom to maintain your position.
The Chasers jockeyed for position, determined to outmanoeuvre each other and score those crucial goals. Gale, Davis and Teddy were already in the position they had planned, and the three of them kept their sights on the quaffle that the Professor still held in between his hands. Sirius was flying close to James, while Marlene was flying just above you, ready to stop any bludgers coming your way, as James had instructed.
Marlene tightened her grip on her bat, and with another blow of the whistle the game finally began, the Quaffle soaring into the air in an instant. Gale flew straight to it, managing to size it in the air, and flew straight towards the other team’s goal. But after Sirius hit the bludger towards Lionel, Penelope Linwood, the other team’s beater, shot it straight at Gale, who had to pass the quaffle to Davis to out-manoeuvre the bludger that wouldn’t stop following him.
Davis took the ball and went for a shot, but Lionel managed to catch it just before it went inside the goal hoop to his left. The ball was with the other team, your heart pounded in your ears as adrenaline rushed through your body, you knew the quaffle could be thrown your way any minute now, so whatever you did, you had to focus. You felt the wind blowing even stronger, your broom moving with it a little more than you’d expect it to.
Sirius managed to catch up with Davis and batted the bludger away from him, launching straight towards the chasers of the other team, disrupting their formation and buying you some time. The way they were flying, one against the other, they were probably planning to corner you in between the three of them. One of them, a boy with short red hair, who flew like a lightning bolt to avoid Sirius’ bludger –and who you assumed was Adrian– was dogging absolutely everything and everyone as he flew straight at you.
You smiled confidently when you saw him throw a short glance at one of his chasers, a small girl with neat braids through her entire head. It was Cynthia, you realised, from one of your classes. They were going to faint. So even as you kept your head in Adrian’s direction, you made sure to keep Cynthia in your line of sight at all times. You saw the other bludger be beaten in your direction.
“Focus on your thing!” Marlene shouted, flying straight towards the bludger and batting it fiercely to Adrian, but he managed to dodge the ball and it started following the other chaser instead. The redhead was already reaching the zone, his move would be any second now. He smiled, pretending to throw the ball to the left hoop before throwing it straight to Cynthia. That had been a sick faint, but you had seen it coming, so you didn’t even bother going to the left and instead went straight to the direction Cynthia had thrown the ball, efficiently getting it in between your hands before it even got close to the goals. The audience cheered as you flew a little higher, trying to find Anne Davis. If she got the ball now, you were sure she’d get it across the field and through Lionel.
Once you spotted her, you plunged down and launched the ball at her when she was just a couple of metres away, continuing your way down before doing a sharp turn and going back to your goals. When the ball was in her hands she started dogging the bludgers, that seemed like they were only following her until Marlene flew straight towards one of them and threw it to Lionel.
Davis had to shoot the ball to Teddy for a second but he threw it straight back at her and she launched it toward the goal, Lionel wasn’t fast enough to stop it, and it went straight through. The crowd erupted in cheers. Anne was grinning as she went back to position. As everyone cheered you felt a strong jolt in your broom. You frowned and looked down, studying the broom as you steadied it. You squint your eyes when you feel it again, a lot weaker this time. You turned to the bleachers then, narrowing your eyes in case you spotted someone.  The jolt had felt exactly like the one that had thrown you and Sirius off your brooms a couple of weeks ago. You took a deep breath and tightened your grip around your broom. I’m not falling today, you thought before turning your eyes back to the quaffle.
The jolts didn’t come back, as if the person trying to throw you off the broom had given up on them completely, but your grip on the broom did not loosen at all, you had to keep your ward up, at all times now. The quaffle was now in Cynthia's hand, and she had thrown it to a strong-looking boy with a blonde fringe, their last chaser. He came straight to you, looking imposing since he was a lot bigger, perhaps as tall as Remus, but with a wider back, which made him look threatening.
Thank Merlin he’s not a beater, you thought. He came straight onto you, paying no mind to the bludger following closely behind him. You did not keep your eyes away from him until you felt a light hitting straight onto your eyes, blinding you from how bright it was. The blond boy did his shot and you weren’t fast enough, it went right through your right goal, there were cheers from the Ravenclaws, and groans from the Gryffindors.
You went to get the ball and threw it straight at Teddy, who moved further away with it. And you took the time to look around the bleachers, trying to figure out what the hell had blinded you when the light hit you again. You placed your left hand over your eye only to realise a very small dot of light reflecting on it, moving frantically trying to find your eyes again. “A mirror,” you whispered to yourself, “They’re trying to use a bloody mirror.”  You then remembered you had Sirius’ goggles, and placed them over your eyes, hoping the sun protection spell they had on them was enough. They were indeed! Just reflective enough to bounce the light off your eyes. You smiled, whoever was trying to sabotage you, and you had a pretty damn good idea who it might have been, would have a bloody hard time doing so.
Finally managing to focus on the game again, you noticed Sirius throw a hard shot towards the blonde boy, managing to hit just on the back of his broom and having him spinning out for a good minute before he managed to get back control.
“Brilliant Black!” you shouted from your spot, not so far away from him. He gave you a little wink, boasting for a good second before ducking as one of the other team’s beaters had thrown the bludger straight back at him. That made you chuckle just a bit, before you saw the same blond boy, doing a daring dive towards you and your goals. This time, when he shot, you managed to stop the quaffle with ease, even if the strength of the hit had you pull back just a little, the impact reverberating through your body as you held on tight.  You heard the Gryffindor supporters erupting into cheers, and you felt the same euphoric feeling you felt when you caught a snitch and ended a game back in your old school. With a graceful smile towards them, you sent the quaffle hurtling back into the game.
But Cynthia Abbot intercepted your throw and launched the ball straight onto your goals again. You threw yourself towards the quaffle again, but realising your hand wouldn’t be long enough to stop it, you did a sharp turn and used the back of your broom to bat the ball away from the hoops, accidentally sending it straight towards James’ head, who wasn’t looking. “Prongs! Watch out–“ you tried to warn him but it bounced off his head and Davis managed to size it, diving straight towards Lionel and the Ravenclaw post.
You flew closer to James, still keeping an eye on the quaffle as you did “You ok?” you asked preoccupied “I didn’t mean to–“
“-That was a brilliant save!” He said, turning to you with a smile, “Hurt a little though.”
You winced when you realised the boy was rubbing the back of his head, “Sorry…”
“I’m good, you keep up that amazing work going, don’t worry about me, all right?”
“Suddenly you saw a gold shine pass right in front of your eyes, and you followed it with a short gaze, before turning back to James “Did you see th–“ You didn’t even finish, you knew the answer when you spotted James’ wide grin and his hazel pupils following the snitch with precise movement, “Go get her tiger!” You said as he started flying in its direction.
“Back to your goals,” he said with a smile before flying off towards the snitch. You smiled as you saw him chase behind it, and flew back to your place, the Quaffle was still on your team’s hands, so you were relatively relaxed as you kept your eyes on James, who darted through the air, waving and looping through the players, dodging bludgers and following the snitch’s every move. Holden wasn’t too far behind him, but Marlene and Sirius were making sure he had many flying bludgers to dodge, both also protecting James, so he could reach for the snitch. You admired the way Marlene threw the iron balls at her boyfriend as if he was just some random seeker she had to throw off her broom.
Suddenly the ball was back with the chasers of the other team, Adrian darting towards you while one of the beaters from the other team batted a bludger straight to your face. You knew exactly what you had to do, James hadn’t had you practise handstands and pull-ups so much for nothing, so you went straight for it. Holding yourself up to allow the bludger to pass through as you hit the bludger with your leg, flipping yourself back into your broom with a sharp turn. The crowd cheered again, many had heard of the movement, but they hadn’t seen it, but that wasn’t the end, you dived straight down to catch the quaffle and flew straight towards Gale, passing it on his hands in a quick manoeuvre before flying back to the goals.
Gale, in turn, went straight to Lionel and shot, earning another 10 points for Gryffindor, which had the crowd of Gryffindor supporters standing on their feet as they cheered on for Gale, even you joined them, screaming “Thomas! Thomas! Thomas!” with one of your arms extended out in a triumphant first. He turned to you with a little smile, it was his first goal since he joined the team, he must have been feeling ecstatic, as much as you were whenever you stopped one of the Ravenclaw’s advances.
Time seemed to blur as the match continued, each passing second a testament to your teamwork and determination. The score remained close, both your team and the Ravenclaw had a hard time scoring. Aldrige had been a keeper since 4th grade, so it wasn’t surprising he was such a brilliant player. Which is why you felt a little triumphant at the fact you had stopped more of the balls shot your way than he had. Even if the blonde keeper had probably hurt your left index finger from how hard they had shot the ball one time. You had only cursed under your breath and shot the ball back to Teddy.
Sirius had seen it, and flew your way “You alright luv?” he asked, a little frown on his face.
“Sirius!” you screamed “Behind you.” The boy turned around sharply and barely managed to bat the bludger away from his face “Focus on your bludgers, not on me!” you told him sharply.
He gave you one last look before nodding and flying towards the bludgers. You took a deep breath, yes, it was nice to see him so worried for you, but he could’ve gotten hurt had you not been keeping an eye around you and drowned yourself in the stupid blue of his eyes, which wasn’t hard with the way he had stared at you. James was right, it was better to keep Marlene as your main defender instead.
Cynthia orchestrated a swift series of passes, bringing her team within striking distance of Gryffindor's goalposts. Your heart raced as you braced yourself for the impending shot, a deep breath as you focused your gaze on the ball and their faces, attempting to decipher exactly what it was they were going to do. And then she shot, sending the quaffle towards the hoop that was the farthest from your reach. You lunged yourself towards it, your fingertips barely grazing the smooth surface of the ball. You heard the crowd gasp, and then erupt in cheers as the ball ricocheted off your fingers and veered off course, missing the hoop by inches. When you realised you had managed to stop it, you were breathing heavily, and gripping onto your broom again, a lot tighter than you thought you were. Realising only after that you had almost fallen off your broom when you veered the quaffle odd course.
The final minutes of the match were a whirlwind of adrenaline and emotion. The Seekers soared, the Chasers battled, and the Beaters continued their relentless bludger assault. Every save, every pass, every point earned or lost had the crowd on the edge of their seats.
Marlene was hovering close to you as Sirius struggled to keep the bludgers away from James, and as soon as the quaffle was in your team’s hands, you flew closer to her “Go help Sirius!” you shouted.
“But I’m supposed to defend you!” she argued.
“Leave it, I can dodge, just make sure Prong’s fine so he can get the snitch!”
Marlene looked at you apprehensively, as if she was deciding whether it was a good or a bad idea “Trust me, Mars, I can handle them. They’re all over Potter anyway!”
She took one last glance at you and dove straight to James and Sirius, beating the bludger they had off course and towards Lionel. He managed to dodge by a millisecond and looked shocked when he realised he too had been left alone in the goals. The four beaters were all over the seekers, defending their own house and trying to throw the opponent off his broom.
The redhead chaser came at you again, the quaffle in his hand, one last attempt to score. He was thrilled when he figured Mars was gone and he placed his hand on his mouth, whistling effortlessly, one of the Ravenclaw beaters turned around and batted the bludger straight at you. At the same time, Adrian threw the quaffle in the same direction.
You tried to look at the score, but you were still way below the safe line. If Holden got the snitch, which you hoped wouldn’t happen, your team would lose. So you didn’t move, ready to take the hit of both the bludger and the quaffle at the same time. And you did, catching the quaffle first and using it as a shield to loosen the punch of the bludger, but the blow had been heavy, and even as you tried to stop it, the bludger’s momentum caused the quaffle to sink into your gut with such force that it not only took your breath away but pushed you back a few feet as well. You heard a choir of “Ooos” and “Ouches” from the audience, and you coughed a couple of times, using the same quaffle to throw the bludger towards the other side.
Sirius turned to you, a worried look on his face, James had been too focused on the snitch to notice. But he had the other two beaters on him.  “Focus on Potter!” you shouted, however you could, and he hesitantly turned back to James. You were sure it was going to bruise, it had been a harder hit than Barty’s, probably because it had been a bludger the one that pushed the quaffle into your stomach. Panting, you turned around and spotted Teddy just a couple of metres away, an expression of awe on his face, evidently impressed by your display of determination and slightly stupid bravery. You gave him a half smile before throwing the quaffle his way, “Let’s get another 10 points shall we?”
Teddy smiled at you and nodded, catching the quaffle and diving straight to the other side of the field, Gale and Anne easily following behind him and creating a formation, they were going to use one of the plays, and since the other team’s beaters were focused on James, they had the upper hand. A couple of passes and they managed to score.
Then there were cheers from all the Gryffindor supporters, but it wasn’t because of the points they’d just gotten, in fact, high above, at about the same time, James had lunged forwards and wrapped his fingers around the snitch. The game was over, the Gryffindor cheers were so loud, that they made you smile even if you still felt like you wanted to puke, from the stinging pain of the hit.
As you soaked in the cheers of the crowd, you knew that this victory was more than just a game; it was prove of how strong the Gryffindor team was now, how, even if you had so many new members, including yourself, the constant training and early mornings had been of good use. You smiled brightly as you finally managed to land back on the ground, heart still panting as you used your broom to hold yourself up.
Everyone was cheering, you saw the entire team wrap around James, and bring him up in the air as he held the snitch, the crowds still cheering in the background. You finally stood up, smiling as you tried to forget the sharp pain on your stomach and ran towards them, to cheer on. Sirius was the first one to approach you, placing his hands on the sides of your face and scanning it carefully.
“Are you ok?” He asked with a frown.
“Yeah, totally,” you lied with a half smile, but he saw straight through you and pulled you into a hug.
“Please don’t do that again, I wanted to drop the bat and go see what the hell had happened to you because of the way everyone gasped.”
“You didn’t see it?” You asked, pulling back to look straight into his eyes.
He shook his head “When I turned to you, you had the quaffle in your hands and were screaming at me to get behind Prongs again.”
You nodded, “It was just a hard blow, I’m sure people were just being dramatic–“
“–What the hell (Y/N)!” James interrupted. Shit, he knows. “You’re supposed to avoid the Bludgers, not get in their way!”
“Whoever told you, I’m sure they were exaggerating.”
“Lionel Aldrige came over to tell me I had the bravest keeper he’d ever met, that he’d never seen anyone try to stop the goddamned bludger with a quaffle! And that he wasn’t even sure he’d be able to do it himself!” James pretty much shouted.
“Is that what you did?!” Sirius asked, raising his voice at you as well.
“I had to– I had to stop the quaffle somehow.”
“We could afford to lose ten points!”
You shook your head “Not if you hadn’t caught the snitch, we weren’t 160 above them yet!”
“There was no way in hell you had the strength to stop the quaffle with your arms, that’s why we use bats!” Sirius argued then.
“Where the hell was Marlene anyway?” James chimed, pinching his nose.
“Covering for you, I told her to go, you had the beaters all over you, I was free.”
James stared at you in disbelief, “For how long?”
“The beater actually shot from where he was, still trailing behind you, the deacceleration from–“
“What deacceleration? It’s literally an iron ball!” James said, interrupting you again, he was clearly riled up.
“It was reckless!” Sirius said then.
“You can’t do it again!” James added.
“What if it’s all it takes to win a game?”
“I’d rather lose a game than lose a friend!”
You huffed, biting your cheek to avoid saying the retort that came to our mind, how James was being overly dramatic. But it would be useless, it wouldn’t change their minds. “Fine, but let’s just leave this subject behind, we should be celebrating not–“
“Are you ok?” You heard Remus ask from behind “The way the bludger pushed you back almost all the way into the hoops I–“
You sighed, just when you’d gotten James and Sirius off your back, “I’m fine! I’m not some delicate flower that can’t stand the hit of a bludger in the gut!”
“You think we’re worried because you’re a girl?” Remus asked, quick to catch on to why you were being so stubborn about it.
“Is that not it?”
“No, you dumbass! I’d be just as worried if Sirius had gotten hit by a bludger in the gut!”
“You would?” Sirius teased, “That’s so sweet of you Moons.”
You laughed at Sirius’ silly answer, “Fine, maybe it was a dumb thing to–“
“–it was,” Sirius interrupted, emphasising the “was”.
“Whatever, it won’t happen again, case closed, let’s go to the party.”
“Wouldn’t you like to see Madam Pomrey first?” Remus asked.
You shot him a look and walked towards the rest of the team, they were still cheering and celebrating along with their friends.
“She’s so goddamned hot-headed!” Sirius huffed as he stood next to the boys, watching you walk towards Marlene and Lily. You’d probably get a scold from them as well.
“Reminds me of you,” Remus added, looking at Sirius from the side.
Back in the common room, there was music and drinks and somehow even snacks for everyone as they cheered on. When Peter started talking about the things you’d done again, he and Tom had started a motion for you to be carried into the air for a couple of seconds, everyone agreed and you ended up in the air, being shoved up and down a couple of times before they finally let you down. They thought of you as a hero, and you felt like a rockstar. It was something you weren’t used to, but being cheered on by so many people was undoubtedly nice. Even if at some point you had to step away from the crowd and onto a quieter area of the common room, sitting down on the sofa and feeling the pain kick in as the adrenaline started to fade away.
Sirius was next to you a couple of minutes later, placing his arm over your shoulder and dragging you closer to him “With the whole bludger incident, I think I forgot to tell you how freaking amazing you were today on the game,” he said, mouth close to your ear as he spoke, “You barely allowed the Ravenclaws to get any points.”
You leaned into him too, allowing yourself to bask in the warmth he emitted, “You were brilliant too Puppy! No one got hit by bludgers on your watch.”
He turned to you, placing his hand on your waist, but you winced, and he looked at you with a shrug “Does it still hurt?”
You shook your head, not daring to open your mouth, and leaned in to kiss him instead. If it worked to distract him in the restricted section, I’d work to distract him now. But Sirius was hungry today, the adrenaline of the game and the fact that you looked so fucking good in those quidditch pants, had him feeling all sorts of things, so when he kissed back, you could feel the neediness on the kiss.
And he, oblivious to your pain, dug his hands under your sweater and tightened his grip around your waist, pressing his fingers to your warm skin. That had you wince again and he separated from you, his hand still under your shirt.
“It still hurts!” he said accusingly.
“Sirius, I’m fine,” you said, attempting to drag him back into the kiss, but he shook you off.
“I’m gonna lift your sweater, kay?”
“No, I’m–“ He did it anyway, only a little at first, but then a lot more when he realised.
“–Sweetheart, look at this!” he said reproachfully. You looked down, wincing as you saw the various shades of purple and green your stomach had gotten.
“I guess that’s why it hurts…” you muttered, with a little smile, trying to lighten the mood. Sirius just looked at you sternly. “Fine then, just don’t touch that area and then–“
“We’re going to Poppy.”
“But the celebration party.”
“Look at me straight in the eyes and tell me it doesn’t hurt.” You took a deep breath, looking at him and then averting his gaze, “Thought so.”
“I still wanted to make out,” you mumbled under your breath as you let him guide you toward the portrait, his hand neatly wrapped around yours.
“We can make out all you want once Poppy has checked up on you,” he told you, turning back to give you a small wink.
“Where you up to?” you heard Remus’ deep voice from the side.
“Sirius insists on taking me to the infirmary.”
“She has a terrible bruise all over her stomach,” Sirius added what you’d left out.
How did he find out? Remus wondered until it dawned on him. Right, they’re dating.
“It’s not that bad,” you tried to argue, but Sirius threw you another look.
“Mind if I tag along?” He said walking beside the two of you “I need to restock some of my medicine.”
Full moon must be soon, you thought “You don’t even have to ask Rem,” you said as you nodded for him to come along.
