did my attempt on the sandwing sister designs :D! They're probably some of the most drawn wings of fire characters, so i really tried to make them unique. Blister is the outcome of me shoving the most devious, malicious, sinister features a dragon could possibly have together, just because of the amount of times she's described as evil in the series.

Unsorted WOF thoughts part 111:

Each of the SandWing sisters had a personal dynamic with a queen that summarized their personalities.

Blaze: Just existing in a castle on the edge of her sugar mommy's kingdom, not a care in the world.

Burn: In a somewhat mutual relationship with another warmongering royal.

Blister: Literally just manipulating Coral because she's the only one who will fall for it.

the last portrait they had painted before the war. headcanons (assorted):

*burn isn’t herself. she knows she’s the oldest, and moreover blister has been vying for the throne since before blaze was born.

*blister is faded out because she looks the most “normal” of the three and has been shadowed since birth (esp with blaze having such vibrant blues).

*blaze is the tallest. h a. also green is a very attractive colour in sandwings as it symbolises verdancy (second only to blue because. woter)

*royal dragons have a special colour (anemone is pink, snowfall is orange, etc etc). Blister’s is (dark) red

SandWing Sisters

Burn. Described as having lots of scars and no jewelry, but i thought a nose ring would suit her. I like how everyone kinda just agrees that burn has the darkest/brownest scales

Blister. I like the helmet/crown thing she has in the graphic novels so I added that. Thought diamonds would be a good contrast against lots of warm colors.

Blaze. Obviously has the most jewelry out of her sisters. I like her color palette in the graphic novels the most out of the others as well.

so sorry for Morrowseer... he was an advisor for the queen and met a fiery end, but if he existed in real life, he would have been that type of person who's been complaining about his horrid work-life balance for the past 5 years and has around 6 hours of sleep a night, makes Moon's blood pressure shoot up from merely existing in the same space as her mother (usually Morrowseer stays in the living room and Secretkeeper watches Netflix off her phone at max volume in the kitchen) but it's okay because they're keeping the marriage together until their only child turns old enough and leaves the house. Also drops comments about IceWings and SandWings and RainWings while Moon slumps in her seat and stares awkwardly while refusing to think about the very real people who flashed through her mind. He's also on medication for something and has one of those middle aged male afflictions that he'll have until the day he dies. We suspect that his genetics'll take him out in 30 years. Unfortunately, his sacrifices have done much for the family and Moon still feels guilty as he gripes about it. Still makes Moon feel like garbage when he compares her to all the other NightWing kids in the neighborhood, whose coursework, GPAs, and extracurriculars he knows in detail from all that NightWing parent gossip (he's still clowning on Farsight for letting Fierceteeth go to the community college). Also says something to Moon that will affect her psyche for years and then yells at her for being clearly affected by having a parent like him.

I've been in a mood for updating character refs and I knew I had to redesign Sunstone/Daybreak for a long while now, so I'm posting this ref dump with comparisons just to fun. Sunstone is Starlight's brother so I kinda wanted him to look more similar to her (at least in his sandwing form). His alter ego also got a slight redesign. Also I thought that Halcyon (design credit goes to the lovely @snaill-dragon of course) deserved a better ref, since the last one was a bit confusing.
