doodled this for a au I had but idk what i’m doing so here it is.

Basically in the au Darkstalker and Whiteout never actually hatch, their eggs reveal nothing buy dry shell.

Instead they are made into more or less the embodiments of the ice vs night thing.

Darkstalker represents the actual conflict. The mistrust, hate, and desire to kill. As those are more present he’s bigger and more powerful.

Whiteout meanwhile represents the hope that the two queendoms can get along. So is smaller and weaker and curls up on Dark’s shoulders.

It would go pretty similar to canon, Darkstalker is the reason the nightwings hide. The twins then hibernate. And when they wake up again they haunt the heck out of the school.

So not only does Moon have a semi-murderous (but weaken) ghost kinda helping her?? But Winter has the terrifying specter that is a icewing hybrid that’s encouraging him to do extremely un-icewing things. Like be friends with other tribes and not feeling guilty for existing.

Exactly five people have shown interest so i have taken that as permission to talk about this a little

(All of the art is not mine, its commissioned from my sister who does not have a tumblr, heres her youtube instagram and deviantart if you want to look at more of her stuff)

Anyway this idea spawned in discord when me and my friends were talking about how there are too few mythical creature aus of starwars and especially rebels and so i jokingly mentioned that someone could do a wings if fire au. It has since consumed my brain. Have some thoughts

Spectre 1, Kanan Jarrus

This guy is a leafwing. Thought process was “He’s green. Connected to the living force. And it would be cool” He is an animus, like all jedi will be in this au. He is one of very few pantalan dragons that have ever been an animus. His backstory isn’t that much different in canon, he ends up in the scorpion den with Hera. He also happens to have fairly strong leafspeak, though it doesn't see much combative action in the desert. At the time rebels starts he is about 11 dragon years old, at the time the empire rose he was 6 dragon years old.

Spectre 2 Hera Syndulla

Hera is a silkwing/sandwing hybrid. Since silkwings were almost entirely slaves or something similar in arc 3, and since twi’leks are the most slaves in starwars, i decided to make her a silkwing, and also because shes pretty. However, a friend said she had strong queen Thorn vibes and so now shes a hybrid sandwing who happens to work with the rebellion in the scorpion den. She has regular silk and also a tail barb, though it is smaller than other sandwings, but its still just as dangerous. Around the time rebels starts she is a little less than ten dragon years old, when the empire rose she was almost 5.

Spectre 3 Chopper

He is actually a little animus enchanted wooden octopus. Basically a while ago an animus decided animus’s were too powerful and purposefully nerfed the entire system, including things like you can enchant living things including the spellcaster, as such, animated carvings and such became fairly common, as they were technically nit alive but could still move as if they were. Think Blob from darkstalker except chopper has the side effect of being much more violent since he was separated from his creator. Hera found him in some ruins during the clone wars. No one knows how old he is.

Spectre 4 Garazeb Orrelios

This guy is just a normal icewing because theres a sad lack of purple icewings in wof canon. And also icewings and nightwings have had a rivalry since forever (i know that was supposed to be fixed in arc two but i needed a reason for a nightwing king to be willing to wipe of a large chunk of a tribe and palpatine in nothing without his ability to hold grudges over things he wasn’t even alive for that dont matter anymore) in this au he is still a captain of a guard, but it isn’t The royal guard (since theres only ten dragon tribes but hundreds of starwars species so we cant just entirely eliminate one dragon tribe with it being a much bigger problem than just the lasat) It is the biggest city besides the one where the royal family lives, and a lot of lesser nobility and a fair chunk of the icewing army, including where they train the new recruits is there. After it gets destroyed (there were Rumors that the nobility of the city were in league with rebellion, so if course the empire decided to go to the extreme and kill literally everyone who lived there) Zeb then goes into hiding in the Scorpion Den, thinking the desert would be the last place they would look for a reputable icewing, and there he meets kanan and hera. They recruit him by fighting imperials together and saving him from death by dehydration. He would have been 20 when the empire rose and 25 by the start of rebels. (@kanerallels has actually made this fic of him meeting kanan and hera go check it out if you haven’t please)

Spectre 5 Sabine Wren

Shes a rainwing. In Darkstalker and in the guide to a dragon world, they are mentioned to be widely feared assassins. Queen Glory wanted the rainwings to not be useless in a fight so she taught some of them to fight. The group that learned to fight took it too far and became the mandalorians, and sabine having been a bounty hunter at some point in canon, and also liking to express herself through her outward appearance, this is what i landed on. All her armor is enchanted by kanan to blend in with her scales when shes trying to be stealthy. This is what eventually persuaded her to join them. She was 1 when the empire rose and is 6 when rebels starts.

Spectre 6 Ezra Bridger

He is a silkwing hivewing hybrid. In the books these tribes seem to be more purposefully agricultural than the other tribes, being the only ones (i think) that have gardens for food instead of decoration, and they also have greenhouses, and lothal is a farming planet. Pantala is also a good out of the way grassland that doesn’t immediately have the attention of the empire, which is very convenient for him since he’s basically the most illegal person to ever exist. Unregistered child (illegal under the empire) who is also a hybrid (also illegal) descendent of a flamesilk (illegal when unregulated) and an animus (illegal period under the empire) and happens to have both abilities(because hes my favorite and i can do whatever i want), as well as a tail barb meant for paralyzing others, though both his flamesilk and his tail barb are significantly weaker than the average because of hybrid genetics. (His tail can barely paralyze tiny dragonets and prey and doesn’t work on bigger things without enhancement, and unless he purposely uses his hottest silk its not hot enough to actually burn most dragons) his parents did work with the rebellion on pantala, but because an emergency they traveled to pyrrhia and brought ezra with them because he was to dangerous to leave alone but were attacked and imprisoned halfway across the ocean, leaving ezra alone, and being like 2 years old at the time, lost his sense of direction and wandered to pyrrhia instead of pantala (bridges were built at some point connecting the continents by the islands) it should be known that he has no idea hes an animus at this point and thinks hes just really good at disguises and everyone else is just very dumb, when in reality hes like enchanting a poncho to make him look like a non hybrid and other accessories to make him look different by accident. He eventually wanders over to the scorpion den and causes a LOT of chaos which led to the ghost crew finding and adopting him. He was born on the first empire day and was about 4.5 years old when rebels starts. (If you want some angst he grows his wings right after malachor and kanan completely misses it)

The scorching: Robin was born just as dragons have wiped out human society and were settling into individual tribes, he was technically a Proto-Dirtwing but a branch that would later become modern Mudwings. [See: timeline, excluding details about animus magic as these were disproven by the fact that Icewings gave animus magic to the Nightwings via Darkstalker] Robin was born as the first animus dragon, though very much a rudimentary and misunderstood ability, he has less control than modern animus dragons due to the unrefined, wild nature of the gene. He is further incapable of exploring it due to being raised in the constant warfare of the post-scorching era, he was both afraid of his powers being exploited by the tribes fighting for dominance, and unable to find a quiet place to practice, away from other dragons where there was no risk of hurting them. Eventually, he decided to just act, he tried to use his animus powers to try make a safe haven of constant peace on the cusp of the desert and mountains, slightly south of the area that would eventually become Possibility. However, it went awry and created a bubble completely suspended in time that he couldn’t escape from (unbeknownst to him, this was due to the fact that the stone henge he designed to be the centre of the sanctuary was constructed from Skyfire, an odd rock from a comet with the ability to compound magic, paired with the fact that it was constructed on a Brightest Night [a night in which all three moons are full, thus substantially boosting all magic in Pyrrhia] The two contrasting forces would distort his spell, creating a place of purgatory). Over the years, other dragons stumbled into the rift and became trapped in time alongside him

~1500AS: Monarch [Humphrey], an early Silkwing, part of a band who remained on the mainland, prior to this, large quantities of Silkwings and Beetlewings had fled Pyrrhia to a continent cross the ocean following an invasion of their tribe’s territory. Remaining Silk and Beetlewings linger in clusters around the continent, occasionally being taken in by other tribes. He travels to the Talon Peninsula, hoping to find sanctuary in the Kingdom of Night and is found by a Nightwing called Schemingmind [Sophie], the two get along quite well, however Schemingmind was plotting to overthrow the queen of her era, Queen Elegance [Queen Elizabeth I]. Monarch, entirely by accident, found himself taking the blame for their plot, allowing Schemingmind to escape persecution and subsequently the kingdom, however, after a small fight resulting in a deep cut across his neck, Monarch was then chased from the city, across the desert and into Robin’s sanctuary where he nursed him back to health.

~2000AS: Pyre [Mary], a flamescales Skywing, born with too much fire in her veins, causing her to burn and melt anything she comes into contact with. Upon her hatching, her mother fled the Skywing citadel, unwilling to let her dragonet be killed (a somewhat cruel precautionary Skywings took against all dragonets exhibiting signs of flamescales or animi abilities). They resided in the mountains towards the south of the Sky Kingdom, however, the larger population would eventually find their mountain home and would take Pyre under arrest by threatening her mother. Pyre was lead back to the main citadel, wherein a trial was to take place to determine whether she should be allowed to live or not. When the jury voted in favour of her execution she panicked and tried to break free, yet in the process accidentally set half the citadel alight. The blaze would claim the life of her mother, stricken with grief she fled south and arrived in Robin’s sanctuary. Robin would soon figure out that Skyfire could nullify her flamescales, subsequently he created a ring embedded with a shard of Skyfire that would allow Pyre to interact with the world without any risk of setting it all alight.

~2500AS: Abstinence [Annie], a Nightwing born without the powers of mindreading or foresight, however with a decent degree of bacterial venom, resulting in her being chosen for the Nightwing breeding programme (concept created by Donovan94 and WarriorsOfSpectra on AO3), the beginnings of a programme that would culminate in the creation of the single, most powerful dragon to walk the continent. However, like many other dragons, Abstinence was adamantly against the idea - compounded by the fact that her chosen mate was a horrible dragon, and decided to leave the kingdom. She travelled across the desert with the intentions of reaching the intersection between the Sand, Sky, Mud and Rain kingdoms where rumours of an intertribal city was beginning to flourish, however, along the way she would accidentally enter Robin’s Sanctuary.

Shortly before 3000AS: Kitty, a Rainwing bought in her egg by a wealthy Icewing couple (mostly as a token of their status and ‘benevolence’) and taken to the Ice Kingdom to be raised alongside her adoptive sister, Ermine [Eleanor]. Queen Diamond discretely broke Icewing tradition to only use animus gifts one time (alluding to the way she would later frivolously break this rule in the Ice/Nightwing war), and created earrings that would allow Kitty to live in the freezing environment and prevent her from being hurt by the Gift of Defence (a wall across the kingdom preventing any dragon without Icewing blood from entering). Ermine would be wholly jealous of her sister, who, despite the way other Icewings would scorn her, in Ermine’s somewhat distorted perception of her, still appeared to take the favour of both their parents and friends. Eventually, Ermine grew sick of the divided attention, convincing herself it was because Kitty was an ‘exotic’ Rainwing, and far more beautiful and favourable than she would ever be. In a bout of jealousy, she suggested to Kitty that the two should take a trip out of the kingdom to buy jewellery from the other tribes, so that they might show off to their fellow aristocrats. Ermine lead her to the Kingdom of Sand, however intentionally lost her in the city, returning back to the Ice Kingdom without her in the hopes that it would leave Kitty stranded there for a while to upset her, assuming that Icewings would eventually head out to bring her back home. However, as fate would have it, Kitty, in her struggle to find her way back home without a map, stumbled upon Robin’s Sanctuary, becoming trapped there with the other dragons.

~3500AS: Tempest [Thomas], a Seawing aristocrat who happened upon a Silkwing, blown way from Pantala by a strong storm. In her attempts to return to the continent, the Silkwing accidentally travelled from island to island in the wrong direction, eventually ending up in Pyrrhia at the edge of the Bay of a Thousand Scales. The Silkwing, Icaricia [Isabelle], was discovered by Tempest and his cousin Fluorescence [Francis], quickly becoming friends with them, with the two Seawings vowing to help her return home. They travelled to the Kingdom of Sand where rumours of a Sandwing animus were circling, Tempest believed that with the aid of an animus dragon, they’d be able to magic up a map to Pantala. Fluorescence was less keen on the idea, if they actually found the animus dragon he wanted to ensure that their one chance at receiving an animus-touched object wouldn’t be wasted on getting her home. Hoping to disrupt their search, he told Tempest two Sandwing guards had insulted Icaricia. Tempest was eager to prove that he was very much devoted to Icaricia’s cause and challenged the guard to a fight. The Sandwings had a custom in which disputes could be solved with a short fight until one dragon either gave up or lost consciousness. Fluorescence lied, telling Tempest the fights were to the death after Tempest and the guard both agreed to the fight, as such, Tempest didn’t back down, even as he began to lose. He used underhand tactics and scratched one of the guard’s eyes, permanently damaging it. In retaliation, the Sandwing stabbed him with his venomous barb. Icaricia immediately ran to get a healer with Brightsting cactus (the cure for Sandwing venom), Fluorescence ran to Tempest’s side and feigned worry until he fell unconscious, following which, he told the crowd that Tempest was dead. He then hurried off to find Icaricia and tell her the news before she could return and the rest of the crowd dissipated except for one elderly Sandwing who was already carrying Brightsting cactus, they gave him the antidote and brought him into their home to heal. When Tempest eventually regained consciousness (something that took several days due to the delay in receiving any antidote). Tempest, still unaware of his cousin’s true nature simply assumed Fluorescence mistook his coma for death and begins his journey back to the Bay, however on the way he stumbled into Robin’s Sanctuary, never to learn the truth.

~4000AS: Frigid [Fanny], an aristocratic Icewing whose family resided in the second circle. However, their social standing was threatened due to one of her father’s poor economical decisions as one of the tribe’s lead financiers. The loss of money due to his actions would’ve brought them down to the third circle, however another family of Icewings also facing a slight social strain due to their son’s refusal to marry suggested that the two families marry their children in a bid to combine their status, hopefully bringing them up to the top end of the second circle. Frigid’s parents agreed and she was soon due to marry Gelid [George]. For a while, the two seemed to exist in a degree of amicability, they certainly weren’t close, or really even friends but they didn’t hate one another and the marriage saved their social standing. This would change after Frigid bore the first of Gelid’s dragons though, after a considerable degree of pressure from their families, they agreed to aim for multiple dragonets, however, Gelid would grow more and more distant with each offspring. Eventually, Frigid caught him engaging with two other Icewings, commoners from the seventh circle. Gelid became paranoid and terrified that Frigid would tell someone, ruining his entire life, image and family name, and so, one night as they prepared for bed he tore the membrane of her wings and shoved her from her window. Frigid fell directly into the ocean below, and was dragged by currents into the sea separating the Ice and Sky kingdoms. Eventually she washed ashore in the estuary right of the Kingdom of Sand, mutilated and weak she remained there for some time. A collection of scavengers happened upon her, but instead of killing her they instead helped her to recover, bringing her food and sewing her wings to the best of their ability. Once she had healed, she decided that she would take the five (Montague, Bessie, Jasmine, Jasper and Dante) scavengers as pets and travelled south with them, eventually finding their way into Robin’s Sanctuary. Her pets would live for another sixty years, roughly, before eventually dying. Their remains are buried in a discrete grove in the Sanctuary that only Frigid knows the location of

The Tree Wars, 4962AS: Tobacco [The Captain] A leafwing born at the very beginning of the Pantalan Civil war with potent Leafspeak abilities (the powers some Leafwings possess, allowing them to communicate with plants, encouraging them to grow). At the apex of the Tree Wars, a collection of Leafwing healers decided to escape the continent with their wounded in the hopes that they would remain safe from the Hivewings, and return to the fight after getting the opportunity to recover. A rudimentary skiff was constructed by encouraging a mat of plants to grow and was set afloat. Tobacco was amongst this group of wounded with damage to several joints, the Leafwings intended on only travelling a few islands away, however a cyclone took hold of their Skiff and tore it apart, depositing the Leafwings across a range of different islands. Tobacco happened to be relatively close to Pyrrhia, and made the flight to the continent, however was wholly alone and isolated from the rest of his platoon, including his Lieutenant, Hawthorn [Havers]. He travelled inland, hoping to come across other dragons but ran straight into Robin’s sanctuary, joining the others.

A few years before the War of Sandwing Succession begins, circa 4990: Prickle [Pat], a Sandwing scout troupe leader, gave his scouts a demonstration on archery, aiming to teach them how to hunt moving targets in the sky. However, he failed to articulate the safety rules before one of the dragonets accidentally let an arrow loose, clipping Prickle through the neck with it. Thankfully, it hit the exact angle in which none of his major veins, arteries or other internal features were damaged, instead it simply cut through flesh. One of the scouts ran to go find a healer and shortly after losing consciousness one arrived to help him. After a worrisome few days of trying to prevent an infection from forming Prickle eventually pulled through. After around a week he was able to talk once more without too much pain, and for the first time since the injury, his wife Caracal [Carol] showed up at the doctors’, alongside Prickle’s longtime friend, a skywing called Maroon [Morris]. She explained that she was through with their relationship, and that she had been seeing Maroon for a considerable amount of time, claiming that Prickle’s injury was her sign to end things properly. He wasn’t prepared to grovel for his wife and instead simply accepted it. However, he struggled to remain in the Kingdom of Sand, his memories of his home now tainted by the betrayal. He travelled east in the hopes of finding a settlement outside of the kingdom but, like the others, only found himself in Robin’s Sanctuary.

Artistic [Alison] and Mightytail [Michael] are born around ten years after the ‘present day’ in the books, giving the Nightwings an opportunity to settle into their new lives and start hatching dragonets with the powers of mind reading and foresight once more. They then find themselves in Robin’s Sanctuary around another ten years later, placing their entrance at around 5032AS

A sort of prologue thing for that ghost au of mine.

Whiteout's perspective on what happened the night she and Darkstalker were supposed to hatch...

Sound and color invaded the stillness. Images that the unhatched dragonet had no reference for.

She wasn't supposed to hatch yet.

There was a heartbeat near her, on the other side of the shell. It was a calm color attached to someone who did feel the urge to break free of his shell. Something called to him.

It was the other heartbeats nearby. They were larger and distant surrounded by swirling clouds of colors. Bright and dark at the same time.

She curled around herself. She didn't want to hatch. But she could feel the calm one reaching out to her hesitantly.

He could help her hatch.

Swirls of clashing colors hit the dragonet. Teeth and claws and snow. If they hatched together they'd always oppose each other. Yet if he hatched alone tonight they both would be.

The other knew this too, and he was stuck in indecision.

She could do nothing but let the colors roll over her. She did not have the strength to make herself hatch tonight. The decision was entirely up to the other.

Was it? There must be...

Something loomed above her egg.

It was not what was calling to the other but she could not tell what it was.

A third option the something told her.

Then her egg was cracking and rocking and she was floating.

Below her were two dragons, a dark and a light one. The dark one, mother she realized, cried out and rushed towards the eggs while the light one, father, recoiled back.

In the center of a nest of rocks and furs were two eggs. Both with cracks reviling that there was nothing inside them.

She heard something beside her and turned.

There was the other. Her brother.

He reached his talons out to grasp her own firmly. As if he was afraid she'd float away otherwise. He pulled her close and wrapped his wings around her.

She leaned into him as the conflicting colors melted away.

They wouldn't be alone and they wouldn't be in conflict with each other. For now they were aligned towards the same thing.

(featuring some of the main cast from each project) I wanted to make some sort of header for when I eventually redo my pinned post so I’ve been working on this for a couple days and I’m very happy with how it came out! rbs for big projects like this is always appreciated. There are six different aus here and 18 different characters (ghost moth monster is two) and if anyone can name every character I would genuinely be extremely impressed LMAO

WoF x TWST. Yuu, Grim, and the great seven.

Makes the most sense to start with Yuu first, yea?

Yuu: They get to be human still! Yay them! In this AU I wanted scavengers/humans to be extinct. Why? To make Yuu even more outta place. There’s a bit more to them as a character, but I’ll save that for the writing of the AU.

Grim: I played with the idea of making him into some kinda cat-like fantribe. But settled on making him still very cat like but with more dragon like qualities. Also bigger. And I’m still playing with the idea of him having a smaller form closer in stature to him cannon size. (So he can still ride on Yuu and have something unique to him) He was really fun and really hard to figure out, cause I almost made him more wild cat looking, but I didn’t end up liking it.

(I don’t plan on giving the ramshackle ghost their own full fledged refs, or even just head shot/bust refs. Apologies to all.)

and now onto the seven! Who I’ve turned from Disney Villains into WoF villains/antagonists (they are in order of left to right too to bottom)

Queen Scarlet: “The Scarlet queen” I know that an icewing might have been more fitting, with all the rules they have. But! I went for color pallet. I’m also heavily bias. So Scarlet gets to be queen of hearts

Queen Wasp: “The Queen of Tribes” a big reason for picking Wasp over Blister in place of scar is the fact that, well, she did rule over the silkwings for a good 50 years give or take. And I have this head cannon that she’s fair more clever than she’s depicted in the books.

Albatross: “The great seawing animus” I REALLY wanted Ursula’s WoF substitute to be a seawing. And there was NO WAY I was using whirlpool. (If you know you know) also I have him holding the drawing for the summer palace

Blister: “The sister of Brilliance” If this clever villain wasn’t getting to be the Scar stand in, she was going to be the Jafar stand in. (And yes I drew her holding the eye of onyx. If you know. You know.)

Chameleon: “The beautiful shapeshifter” okay. Scarlet would have gotten to be the Evil queen stand in if I wasn’t dead set on making her the stand in for the queen of hearts. So I had to pick the next best character. That being Chameleon. I don’t have any big reason for him being the Evil Queen besides the fact he has those scraps of scroll to turn into a few other tribes (I can’t remember if there were more than the Icewing, Nightwing and skywing. Because I wanna say he had four tribes he turned into) and also I have him holding Darkstalker’s scroll

Queen Diamond: “The queen of Ice” another one who I just kinda picked the “oh ugh-this’ll do”. I mostly picked her cause of the spell she cast on foeslayer to keep her trapped. So I guess she gets to be the Hades stand in.

Darkstalker: “The Darkstalker” that title is subject to change. But since he already had one in the books may as well use it! Anyway, it only made since to make the most clever and powerful Wings of Fire villain be the Maleficent stand in. Drew him when he escaped from under the mountain because that pose felt like the most powerful one for him. (Although like scarlet I’m very bias)

welp that’s the WoF seven (shockingly hard to pick who would be who. Besides Darkstalker he was easy)

Size chart time!

The dragon examples are Skywings, and I’m of the belief that mudwings and nightwings are larger than skywings but I picked skywings to be the chart comparisons because not meany characters will be much taller or shorter than an average adult skywing. Well, besides the staff but that’s besides the point.

it also has Grim and Yuu because I feel it’s very important to know how tall these two are. (And if I give them exact measurements my brain won’t remember) I was also tempted to add in some kinda animal in here because we’re going largely with mega fauna and flora. But it made the chart crowded. But know I intend for even chickens to be larger than Yuu. (Or about the same hight not sure yet)
