Unsorted WOF thoughts part 223:
After the Talons agreed that Glory needed to go, they chained Tsunami up because they knew that there was nothing stopping her from just trying to kill them. She was the only one out of the five dragonets who they felt needed to be restrained.
Darkstalker had to completely change Winter's personality because he was going to get in the way of his plans otherwise. Winter is demonstrably the only one who Darkstalker had to change to such a degree.

do you think dune kinda knew sunny was a hybrid because
he knew thorn didnt tell many people about the egg, he knew that she didn’t reveal the father at all
and stealing the egg he wouldve been like “hrm. this looks different from a lot of sandwing eggs. must be a thing thorn’s family has idk”
and when sunny popped out with her clearly not sandwing coloration and her clearly not sandwing tail he probably thought “oh shit. that explains it ig”
like we know almost nothing about him but i think he wouldve protected sunny in his own little way. like “oh yeah, that’s just a thing with some sandwing eggs. it’s somethign that occurred in her mother’s family dont worry about it” and no one couldve argued because he’s the expert or whatever
like he wouldn’t have told sunny. he was part of burn’s army and she wasn’t a fan of hybridization. like yeah! he hated burn! but that mentality probably stuck with him a bit. and even if he didn’t want sunny to get hurt because she was the daughter of his friend he also didnt want her or anyone else to know.

It's so weird that Talons of Peace and Morrowseer didn't notice that Sunny was a hybrid. She literally looks like a golden nightwing with a sail. Okay, maybe most dragons have never seen a nightwings, but Dune spent most of his life around sandwings, and he would have definitely figured out that Sunny was a hybrid, since her build and face are nothing like a sandwing. I think Dune knew Sunny was a hybrid back then, and he probably even knew about Stonemover but kept quiet about it.

Dungeons & Dragonets nuff said
Tumblr media
Don't know what to write here. Doodled while on a long drive and finished it at home.
Clay is a paladin, Tsunami is a barbarian because of her loud personality, Glory a ranger, Starflight is your token wizard and I had difficulty determining Sunny's class. She's actually very sneaky in the book (and that her mother is a literal rogue incarnate) and that would push her towards the rogue spectrum, but then her morals come into play and then boom, cleric.
It was too big to be called a sword. Massive, thick, heavy, and far too rough. Indeed, it was a heap of raw iron.

Moo Deng as Baby Clay Again
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He’s more of baby Clay being a pest and the “little monster he was meant to be” - Kestrel. Webs and Kestrel being targeted by Clay may have made sense.
Here’s a ramble, Dune gets a bad rap. I feel like Dune didn’t hate the dragonets but just tolerated them. He cared about the prophecy somewhat to even be in the cave, caged from the rest of the world, and betray Thorn and Six-Claws. We also didn’t get enough of Dune to think he was a bad guardian, the only comment about him, from what I can think of, is Tsunami saying that he didn’t really care about anything and that Glory didn’t like him. Dune also was suffering from the memories of the war and his injuries jut to keep on reminding him.

okay im not gonna check the books for this one so like this may not be particularly accurate to what happens in the story but hey its mostly speculation anyway
its strange to me how incredibly socially inept the guardians made the DOD, Tsunami doesn’t know aquatic despite Webs being fluent, Starflight never received the training/indoctrination that the other NightWing dragonets did nor is he aware that NightWings don’t have powers anymore, Clay doesn’t even know what a sib group is(if i recall, Clay blames this on Asha’s death and the subsequent lack of MudWing representation among the guardians but i’m fairly confident arc two confirms that MudWings living with their siblings is common knowledge), it goes beyond the issues that would arise from being raised in complete isolation, it seems like the Talons of Peace truly did not want the DOD to be able to assimilate to society after the prophecy was completed.
Were they never meant to rejoin society? Morrowseer clearly has no qualms with killing them, with the sole exception being Starflight given the circumstances regarding the NightWing tribe’s declining population. Was the plan to let the dragonets, specifically Clay, Tsunami, Flame, and Viper/Sunny fade into obscurity before dispatching them? I truly cannot find another reason to raise them as ineptly as the guardians did

DUNE
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dune had extraordinarily powerful sandy-yellow wings and flashing black eyes. He was large and bigger than Scarlet. One of his forelegs, as well as his right wing, were badly injured in combat against IceWing soldiers, with the formerly frozen parts of his wing having been snapped off, leaving only misshapen, blackened ruin. His wing was further destroyed when Burn sliced through its tendons and membranes, leaving a long scar running through it and causing it to trail crookedly beside his body. He also lost his foot, leaving only a foreleg stump.

Unsorted WOF thoughts part 118:
Dune was probably a shitty guardian, considering Clay's description of him being only marginally better than Kestrel. But man, he really got the short end of the stick.
Permanently disabled in a way that really sucks for a dragon, given how often they use their wings.
Had to betray Thorn for the sake of the prophecy, by extension betraying Six-Claws, who was probably his first and only real friend.
Made to take care of five dragonets, something he explicitly made clear he didn't want to spend his life doing.
Had to speak neutrally about the dragon who personally disabled him because he wasn't allowed to alter the dragonets' decision in any way.
JUST before his time as their guardian was supposed to end, they were suddenly ambushed by an ally of the dragon who ruined his life.
Died quickly and uselessly as one final blow to this extremely experienced and war-hardened veteran, not even able to buy the dragonets some time.
