DON'T STOP TALKNG ABOUT CONGO
**It’s a privilege** to look forward to the launch of the new iPhone 16, while people in the DRC face modern-day slavery, mistreatment, and abuse as they mine the very minerals that power our cherished phones. Zoya Reebye, founder of Let’s Talk WOC, sheds light on the unimaginable hardships women in the Democratic Republic of the Congo endure in the mines. From being underpaid to facing a rising rate of sexual assault, these women live through a humanitarian crisis the world must not ignore. Even as teenagers, **we can make an impact** by amplifying the voices of those working in the DRC, raising awareness, and holding companies accountable for their actions. 1. **Raise awareness** about the situation in the DRC. The more people know, the more pressure we can put on those responsible. 2. **Be mindful** of your consumer choices. 3. **Do your research.** Investigate the supply chains of companies you buy from, choose refurbished or secondhand electronics, and recycle your devices responsibly. Let’s strive for a world where our technology is not built on exploitation.

Sick of radical feminism's racism problem
Tumblr media
We're assholes for not thinking white men are less misogynistic because they come from some superior european culture?
Blocking me for calling out colonisation as the reason why so many 'cultures' are still backwards unlike the 'good' cultures which have progressed off of the death, rape, slavery and natural resources of nations they colonised is racist. Especially while that system is still in place.
I can't really be bothered responding to this properly so...

Alicent Hightower’s honestly a scarily good rep of what woc go through in regards to their extensive famillial abuse. Second wife with children that pose a threat to the firstborns. The infighting done between the branches of the family. The child marriage, the father, the grinding down of boundaries between her father and her, her and her children. The religion. The cycle.

I’ve been radicalized these past two days by Imane Khalif’s case and my experience on Reddit. I posted about racism and received dismissive responses from some white lesbians, telling me it’s not racism but “criticism” against my country and culture. They proved every word I said. Lesbians of color defended me, but the amount of defense from white lesbians was overwhelming. It made me realize that race and ethnicity will always be a huge part of who we are. To some white radical feminists, we aren’t equals; we’re seen as oppressed women who need their guidance.
When we talk about white men’s misogyny, they deflect with “what about Arab men? African men?” They claim to hate all men equally, but always defend their own men. They questioned a woman’s sex because she didn’t fit their beauty standards and won against one of them. You need to change your ways or more division will be created. Listen to woc when we talk about our experiences with your men and culture. You owe us that.

Really fucked up that mental health support group information needs to be skyrocketed after a hateful president in the US is elected. What kind of person do you need to be that if you’re elected to be in charge, ppl need to post suicide hotlines more? I’m not the first to be sharing these after the election. Everyone reading this, much love, show yourself much love in these devastating times <3
988 can apply to anyone in need of help, not just women of colour. some of the woc mental health support groups are actually for all women, though most are for woc specifically

Friendly reminder that if your feminism doesn’t include woc, queer women, trans women, disabled women, women of any religion, or sex workers then your “feminism” is shit <3

One thing I don't see being discussed is the gendered discouragement of violence in women.
Women and girls wouldn't go out on the streets at night for fear of being raped/sexually assaulted.
But men who drunkenly beat their wives everyday, will pass out asleep in the same bed with no fear that their wives might kill them while asleep.
Why not?
Because patriarchy so divorces women from our own capacity for violence, even to protect ourselves,
that both the woman and her violent husband know that she wouldn't do it!!!!
It starts young. Boys are taught to play rough and beat and fight and go back to being friends, but if a girl hits someone on the playground, there will be gasps and shocks. She'll be treated like she caused irreversible harm when she didn't, making her question her own judgement and ask herself, "Oh no, did I terribly hurt someone?".
Overtime, this leads to girls and women fearing their own capacity for violence.
Combine that with accusations of "overreacting" everytime we are angry at something where anger is a perfectly normal response,
Or being told to "Calm down" when we should be pissed,
Women are made to feel like they caused violence and hurt when they actually haven't.
I also think that this mass societal gaslighting is the reason why "angry cry" is a thing among women, but not men.
I'm not saying violence is the answer to everything, but discouraging all forms of violence in women while not doing the same in men, is definitely a problem.
It's like chipping off a bird's wings and then calling it "naturally weak" for being unable to fly.
Women aren't defenseless, but a lot of religion, society and a biased legal system brainwash us into believing that we are.
