Lone Star fam, I know the last 24 hours have been truly wild, so I have a treat for you: cookies
Tumblr media
Yes, that's right, I made the cookies from TK's coma dream, and I have a recipe for you if you too want to make them.
Use this recipe. For the mix-ins, you're gonna use 2/3 cup each of: pretzels, walnuts, candied pecans, chocolate chips, sweetened shredded coconut, and toffee bits, for a total of 4 cups of mix-ins. Definitely keep the 1 cup of oats, the dough needs it. If you need to make candied pecans like I did, use this one.
They're very good and also very sweet, so I'd highly encourage the sprinkle of salt when you pull them out of the oven.
Also, the recipe makes a lot, so I froze a bunch of the unbaked cookie dough balls so I can have coma cookies fresh from the oven whenever I want, which might just be every Tuesday night at 8pm ET/7pm CT

Note
Which of the ratgrinders (+lucy/buddy) do you think are sweets people. And what’s their favorite.
for anyone who has any more headcanons asks for the rat grinders, keep sending them, these are all so fun!!
Kipperlilly - Kipperlilly is a stress baker (credit to this post by @lucyfrostblade!) and likes to make all types of pastries, cookies, cupcakes, things like that. I do also think though that Kipperlilly likes to eat fruits as a dessert, like strawberries, etc.
Ruben - Tends to prefer snack foods like chips over sweets, but likes candy like chocolate bars, gummies, etc.
Mary Ann - Pocky, of course, and she also likes different types of candy, so she and Ruben often used to share.
Ivy - Likes "fancy" desserts like soufflés and crêpes, but is also absolutely keeping an entire tub of mint ice cream to herself when watching reruns of Spyre's Top Talent.
Oisin - Dragonfruit Not that much of a sweet tooth, but he DOES like mints.
Buddy - HUGE sweet tooth. Sweet potato pie, banana pudding, cream puffs, the works. Ironically not that big a fan of corn in his desserts, despite his family's famous cornbread cobbler at the potluck every year.
Lucy - Loves sweets and used to be the "taste tester" for all of Kipperlilly's stress baking. I think she'd be a fan of warm chocolate chip cookies.

list 5 things that make you happy, then put this in the askbox for the last 10 people who reblogged something from you! get to know your mutuals and followers <3
Ohhhh... @acidcasualties Can I steal your list? Because a lot of my answers are on there (boobs) 🤣
Things that make me happy:
Mexican food and margaritas. I can't be sad around chips and salsa. It's physically impossible. The salty rim of a perfect margarita on the rocks? Fuck me...
The sting of a perfectly placed swat 😈
Good hair days. I have Bellatrix hair, so on the days it behaves, I am a happy little witch.
Autum/Spooky season. Give me all the macabre decor. The haunted hayrides and corn mazes. Costume parties. Hot apple cider. Crisp fall afternoons with leaves crunching underfoot. A crockpot full of chili and cornbread right out of the oven. Pumpkin scented EVERYTHING. My birthday. Fire pits and s'mores.
Music! Alternative rock/Grunge. Broadway. Pop. Hip Hop. I have a very eclectic collection. Music has been a huge part of my life. I can't live without it. I attend a lot of concerts and shows. (I'm seeing P!nk tonight)
Bonus
6. My family. My boys. I am raising some pretty cool kids. When the four of them are getting along they are so fun. My hubby. He loves me unconditionally, and I am still trying to wrap my head around that one. And I can't forget my cats! I don't have any daughters; they are my girls.
7. Hiking, swimming, running. Anything I can do in nature to help me exhaust my adhd.
8. LOKI!!! No explanation needed.
9. My many creative outlets. Writing, soap making, DIY home improvements, party planning, to name a few.
10. Tumblr. I wish scrolling this Hellsite was my fulltime job 🤣

My mom, and her mom, were and are great cooks, but we were also very much the kind of family that relied on basic (and essentially timeless) recipes, and my grandma was born around the 1920s, and my mom was born at the beginning of the 60s.
Both my mom and her mom worked full-time and raised multiple kids (and my mom lost her dad when she was young, so my great-aunt who I've mentioned before many times, moved in to help raise her and her four brothers) and so they needed affordable, filling, easy recipes.
Which meant we had a lot of meatloaf (with fries or potatoes of some kind, and if we were feeling fancy or wanted to stretch it, with cheese and sliced ham in the center), casseroles of all kind (to this day I still crave her tuna casserole, which is basically canned tuna, white sauce - canned white sauce pre-my dad's celiac - and crushed potato chips for the topping and in the mix? I don't think there was any pasta or noodles involved), grilled hot dogs and hamburgers (the latter with 80/20 ground beef, ketchup or bbq sauce, and onion soup mix or other seasonings) with fries (and steak or pork chops or chicken if we wanted to step it up a bit), breakfast for dinner during lent or when not wanting to do too much (so pancakes and scrambled eggs and bacon or sausage), tacos and burritos (seasoned ground beef or shredded chicken or, if my dad was feeling it, carnitas, with tortillas and taco shells and cheese and other toppings), big things of baked pastas (and just regular cooked pasta), chili (sometimes with cornbread or french bread) and the infamous hamburger rice - which is basically ground beef and onions in a tomato sauce (homemade/from scratch if so inclined but otherwise canned or jarred) with canned corn and a fuckton of rice, mixed together (sometimes baked but otherwise just a big pot of rice mixed with a beefy tomato sauce and canned corn and onions) and with cheese sprinked on or included. (This is the dish we ate a ton because of my dad's celiac and because it was cheap, quick, and easy, and it's why I have to fight to get over my avoidance of rice dishes to this day).
My mom's potato salad (and macaroni salad, since the only difference is whether you use potatoes or noodles) is basically just potatoes (or noodles) parboiled and then cubed, mixed with onion, pimento, mayo, ketchup, mustard, a small amount of paprika, and salt and pepper - and I also crave it to this day. (When I was an infant I once ended up in the trunk of my parents' car and proceeded to help myself to the bowl that was there for the picnic the family was having at Kennedy Grove.
That's not all we ate (because it was the 90s and early 2000s, and both me and my mom love chinese takeout and prime rib, and because there is always some evolution and differentiation) but that was basically what we had, and it was pretty much what she had when she was growing up too, so we basically ate mid-century meals well into the beginning of the 21st century.

Day 6 of my art challenge , Cookie! Baking is very common in Ogden, as the fields of wheat and grains were not bombed in the Nuclear War of 2036, and thus were equally unaffected by the Nuclear Winter that most heavily affected the bombed areas. What gets baked depends on the region. Common goods in House Blueacre are Juneberry cakes, blueberry pies, and Dandelion muffins. The most common Blueacre pastries use Juneberries, from pies to pretzels. But for the more western Akridge House, most of their baked goods are corn-based, such as chips and cornbreads. House Guevarra took advantage of the flooded southern region to grow rice and sorghum, but depends more on the Eastern Sea for animal products than agriculture or baking.
Cookies are not a popular item in any of the Houses, so above is a Juneberry pie carved with the Blueacre crest. They're baked until the crust is quite hard, similar to a crunchy cookie, and on holidays the carved vents are lined with liquid chocolate or fruity syrup after baking.

drop this in the inbox of someone you'd like to know more about!
As for the owner of this inbox, if you are comfortable in doing so, take a moment to brag about something! An interest, a hobby, a random skill you hardly get to talk about-whatever you'd like!
Idk I just think more people deserve to appreciate themselves a bit <333
You're awesome, btw :D
I sat on this ask for a few days because I didn't know what to say but today I made baked vegetarian chili again and I love this recipe I have--it's quicker and easier than regular in-a-pot-on-the-stove chili and it's the best chili I've ever had so I'm going to share the recipe for it.
VV Baked Vegetarian Chili VV
1 pkg (250g) fresh mushrooms, chopped or sliced, or quartered
1 onion, chopped
1 bell pepper (any color) chopped
1 sweet potato, finely diced
1 can (400g) of kidney beans
1 can (400g) of pinto beans
1 small can (250g) of corn
1 can (400g) of chopped tomatoes
1 can (400g) of tomato sauce (puree, not spaghetti sauce)
1 cup (200ml) of broth (any kind)
1/4 cup (60ml) BBQ sauce
1 Tbsp (15ml) Worchestershire sauce (omit if vegan)
1-2 tsp minced garlic (fresh or from a jar, not dried)
2 tsp smoked paprika
2 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp sumac (optional)
1 1/2 tsp dried or fresh oregano
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp coriander (ground or seeds)
Chipolte or Cayenne powder (Mild: 1/8tsp. Medium: 1/4tsp. Spicy: 1/2 tsp.)
Put chopped mushrooms, onion, sweet potato, and bell pepper into a 9x13 cake pan (32x23cm) (make sure sides are 2"/5cm deep). Coat in oil and roast for 25 minutes at 200C/400F.
Once the veggies are done roasting, add everything else to the pan and stir it up
Bake uncovered for another 35 minutes. (Ge careful opening the oven door, steam will rush out.)
Garnish with cilantro and/or lime juice and serve. Good with cornbread, fritos, or tortilla chips or served over hot dogs.

And the smoker decided to be a dick. Meaning, despite my cousin thinking the turkey'd be done early, it said "nah, gonna tan for two more hours before getting cooked!"
Worth it for smoked turkey. It's so juicy and I'm glad my cousin's one of those "boys and their toys" guys!
Besides that, we had two types of stuffing (cousin made cranberry and celery, his father-in-law made cornbread and sausage), mac and cheese casserole (cousin's mother-in-law), my mom's honey carrots and cream sweet corn (and a few other veggies I'm not fond of), biscuits made by cousin's brother-in-law, my cranberry sauce. Dessert was pumpkin/apple/cherry pie, chocolate chip cookie bar, pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, and meringues. Which I sent home with my aunt since I need to make for the candy plates for the nut-free households (and my little cousin loves meringues a lot), something to send with my sister in PA's gift, and then another batch for gifts for coworkers and my one friend. I'll get some from those batches.
