My take on the "Klavier can hear the game's ost" headcanon:

Klavier's hearing ability isn't exactly like Athena's, but it could be a different variation of it.

Unlike Athena, Klavier's hearing is more tuned to areas and events rather than the specific emotions of individual people. He can sometimes hear the general vibe of a person's overall personality (example: character themes), but it doesn't get much sharper than that. It's the difference between Athena hearing someone feels tense Vs. Klavier hearing the whole situation getting tense (example: the Suspense themes).

This opens up some possibilities.

This hearing power is why Klavier started creating music. These melodies he grew up hearing keep him connected to the world around him in a unique way, and he wanted to add his own influence to it.

Klavier thinks it's just a weird form of synesthesia. He's a little embarrassed about it, so he rarely brings it up.

It's largely based on intuition. His brain pretty much converts his gut instincts into musical cues for him to follow. As a result, he's very smooth in social situations and has a knack for avoiding danger (except when other music drowns out his internal musical cues, like when his guitar caught on fire as he was playing it).

He can hear when the WAA are using their abilities, too (Apollo's perceiving, Phoenix's magatama, Athena's therapy sessions, ect.). I personally headcanon it was Klavier who told Blackquill about Apollo's bracelet trick.

He spent years training himself to hear his own air guitar.

Klavier's intuition based hearing is pretty accurate, but it's not foolproof. Kristoph and Daryan are proof enough of that.

You know how Athena hears discord whenever someone's emotions are conflicted in some way? Klavier gets that, too, but it's different. The discord Klavier hears is triggered by his own denial of a situation, when his conscious mind strongly rejects what his subconscious had already picked up on. The less room for doubt there is, the louder it gets. It'll even start blaring super loudly into his ears in short bursts if it gets bad enough (those detuned guitar riffs that play during his head-in-hands breakdown animation).

Because of the above point, this is part of the reason why Klavier left the court to focus on his band for a while. He needed to take his mind off the Gramarye trial and drown out the discord with his own songs.

Just rewatched 02x08 Raving and it is truly so unhinged of the writers to set up magic!Stiles and not pull through with it.

I mean, they really did set that up, that's not something delusional fans fully made up themselves, they had the damn druid be extra cryptic and make it sound like only Stiles could do this and use such weirdly phrased advise that really makes your alarm bells ring and then they have Stiles run out of mountain ash with a significant way to go and give himself a pep talk about belief and imagination and he confidently strides along while producing mountain ash out of thin air.

He had no mountain ash anymore. It's not even that he still had some left but not enough and he believed that it would last and the container just never ran out - that would somehow still feel different.

No, the writers chose to have him fully run out of mountain ash and magically produce it in his hands, not even in the bag that had carried the original mountain ash. He just magically makes mountain ash appear.

And when he has to break the circle to let Derek in to save Scott it is a near magical gust of wind that breaks the circle, like again Stiles willed it to break.

None of this is random. None of this is just easily explained with something rooted in the plot. The only explanation the writers leave you with is magic.

And then they never bring it up again and never let Stiles perform magic again and how do you do that. How do you introduce something so tantalizing in such an obvious manner and then just forget that you set that up and never pull through with it.

#23.1 Prank

Grace didn't know what to make of this situation.

One moment he was bringing Agni his lunch, and now he was in one of the bathroom stalls with Endorsi. 

Endorsi had asked him if she could use the tag to talk with him, and he agreed to her request without any questions. Agni had begrudgingly sent him away with her, which was fair. But then she chose the bathroom, out of all places they could talk.

Grace was sitting on the closed-lid water closet, while Endorsi stood in front of him with her hands folded over her chest. The way she towered against him felt like he was about to get scolded or interrogated.

"Well…" She leaned closer. "We only have three minutes, so let's not waste any time and get started, shall we?"

Grace could only sit there awkwardly. "What…do you have in mind, exactly?"

"Huh, I hinted at it in our conversation earlier. Did you not catch it?"

Grace tried to recall. Something about Endorsi wanting to make someone jealous? Was that it? "Sorry, I spaced out earlier. Can you refresh me on that?"

"I want to prank your team." She lowered her voice, and only then did Grace catch the playfulness in her tone. "I just need you to look a little messy."

Grace raised an eyebrow. He knew what she was implying, and this didn't look like it would benefit him in any way. He knew how much Gyetang and Dan idolized her, and what would Agni think if Grace let her do anything to him?

"Look, I'm not going to steal you from your man. So I will keep my hands to myself, but you'll have to comply." She said that as if she just read his mind. "If anything, it might make him more clingy if he takes our bait. What do you think?"

He was still not convinced that this would be a fun prank. But one thing he learned about Endorsi was that once she set her goal, there was no changing her mind until it failed to meet her expectations. Well, as long as no one was harmed, he would humor her. "Okay. How are we doing it?"

Endorsi dug through her pocket and pulled out a lipstick. "Do you know how to apply this?"

Grace blinked, suddenly unsure if it was what he thought it was. "Uhm…by smearing it on your lips?"

"So you know. Good."

"Well, I have my own." Not exactly lipstick though; Agni said it was a tinted lip balm. But anyhow, it should work about the same.

Endorsi didn't look surprised, but her expression turned thoughtful. "Huh, that could spare you some work. But I don't think it would make a convincing story…"

She started mumbling something that made less sense the more it went on. So instead, he started to take note of her appearance.

Today she chose to wear a sporty bra, leggings and shoes, which meant she came prepared for some exercise. He looked forward to sparring with her after lunch, curious on how powerful she currently was. The ponytail also suited her, although it couldn't tie all of her shorter hair on her nape. It reminded him of the time when his and Agni's hair was at her length.

"–Yeah no, that won't do." She turned her attention to him again, pulling him out of his thoughts. "You should use mine."

She took out a tissue paper and cleaned the tip of her lipstick before handing it to him. Grace examined the light shade of pink and thought that it was a lovely color, very Endorsi-like. He glanced at her once again to make sure, before using his lighthouse as a small mirror and applied the lipstick on his lips. Turns out, the color didn't suit him that well.

"Ehh." Endorsi seemed to have the same opinion, taking back her lipstick. "Well, that doesn't matter. Now, kiss the back of your hand, and then transfer the mark onto your cheek. Can you do that?"

Grace had no complaints doing so. Endorsi was thoughtful enough to respect his boundaries this time. If anyone asked, he could confidently say that she did nothing to him.

As Grace was doing as told, Endorsi cleaned the tip of her lipstick again and applied it on her own lips. He noticed that she deliberately smeared it a little on the edge.

"Here." Endorsi handed him a new tissue paper. "You should wipe your lips and hand."

"Okay."

"Hm…Maybe make your hair a little messy too?"

Grace pulled his ponytail to make it a little undone. 

She smirked after giving him a once-over, satisfied. "Yes. That should do it."

Grace smiled politely, before checking the timer on his pocket and found out that it had only a few seconds left. "We should go back."

"Okay." She said easily and made her way out of the bathroom. "Remember the rule. Whatever happened earlier stayed only with us."

"Yes. I know." It was the rule that Agni made for this 'private time' reward, and it was only fair that he followed it.

"Oh and, that mark stays until someone points it out. Just pretend you didn't know it exists." She pouted playfully at him, before turning back to a cheerful mood. "I can't wait to see everyone's reaction!"

As they walked back to the cafeteria, Endorsi flashed him a grin –this time a gentle one that he rarely saw. "Hey, thanks for indulging me."

Grace felt a smile tug on his lips. It probably was the first genuine smile he had from her, ever since he came back to the past. He hoped it'd stay that way from now on. "No problem."

So @doyou000me sent me an ask about the film making of Love for Love's Sake (which I have learned is based on a novel and now I'm very interested in reading it lol) so having watched the currently available episodes the big thing I noticed was the shows use of Aspect Ratio.

"In simple terms, the aspect ratio of a movie is how wide the frame of the movie is versus how tall it is, usually expressed as a ratio. For example, most TVs and computer monitors are 1.77:1 (more often expressed on consumer packaging as 16:9), which means the screen itself is 1.77 times as wide as it is tall. The higher the first number in this ratio is, the wider the screen will be." (source)

I know, nerd math.

Basically you know those black bars you sometimes see on the top and bottom of the screen when watching a film or tv show? That's a director filming in a specific aspect ratio:

Film makers use aspect ratios in a ton of ways, there's a lot of examples out there from Hateful Eight (Quentin Tarantino), and Dark Knight (Christopher Nolan) where the former used aspect ratio to invoke the film making style of old westerns, while Nolan used a taller aspect ratio for fight/action scenes to give the scene more physical impact.

A recent example that I've seen that I think applies really well to Love for Love's Sake is Marry My Husband:

See how the first scene has black bars above and below? The director is using a different aspect ratio than in the second shot (these are both taken from ep01). What does this signify in the story?

Flashbacks. Flashbacks in Marry My Husband are always filmed in a different aspect ratio than scenes in the "present" storyline of the show. Perfect Marriage Revenge also uses aspect ratios this way.

Love for Love's Sake does something similar but instead of flashbacks it uses aspect ratio to denote between "worlds".

The game world is filmed in a longer aspect ratio than the "real" world which is filed in a different ratio (not a standard full screen but it does have a taller ratio than the game world):

This, so far, has been consistent in the four episodes that are out. We have another return to the "real" world in I believe ep03 and we see this same aspect ratio dynamic.

Another thing I noticed is the "real" world's color saturation is much higher and warmer than the "game" world, but it's also (ironically) much more enclosed - this could honestly be a story choice or a budget issue - and boxed in. Something I don't see discussed a lot in terms of cinematography in BL is the use of Lines and Shapes in film and how they add to the composition of a shot.

I really like this video on the subject though it focuses mostly on animation it's still relevant:

Now if you look at the "real" world scene in Love for Love's Sake we see that the protagonist, before we even know who he is, or anything about him, is in a highly saturated room, warmly lit, but also boxed in:

The warmer saturation denotes a sense of intimacy, which makes sense in a bar setting, but the boxed in frame around him gives us a sense of tightness, tension even, maybe a sense that he feels trapped. We later learn through dialogue he's unhappy with his life and unhappy with the way the novel story he read has played out.

Then, when the scene transitions into the "game" world, the protagonist is in a different aspect ratio, the color grading is now more desaturated and has a higher blue hue to it, the character is also in an open space and filmed front forward facing instead of from behind:

This all works well because the audience knows, even before the character does, they are in another "world" and its very different from their own. It creates to specific aesthetics which help set the worlds apart from one another.

For more on color theory, this is one of my favorite videos on the topic which has more to do with like, hue and saturation rather than "the blue curtains mean xyz" which is a singular and narrative heavy way to focus on color theory instead of how color adds to the tone, emotion, and world building of a piece of media.

I think the first episode of Love for Love's Sake is the best filmed of the episodes so far, the budget starts to chip away in other episodes but I do want to give them their roses b/c they do work within their budget well. There's a lot of interesting visuals used especially with the game pop ups that I really like, and some nice camera work. The editing is a bit weak at times but there's been some good choices too.

I also really liked the scene with Yeo Woon running and how his feet lit up and how that aligned with his affection points going up. The editing for that was well done.

So yeah, those are my film making thoughts on the show for now lol

I...actually think. that Soap doesn't have a big family that many others has hc him to have.

I like to think he has a good family yes, ma and pa holds a special place in his heart, but no siblings and nothing.

Heart was angry, and the stars were too. The angrgy starts twinkled angrily. Heart could tell theyis angry. “(At least IM not an emotion less monster!)” Heart said. “[you refuse to even listen 2 me! I pick up everythinmh u are too pathetic to carry.]” Mind’s tail lashed as he hissed.  “[i have to fix all ur mistakes. All the things you fail to be right about]”

Mimd didn’t car because Hert was still attaking him and heart remeemerd he was attacking hm and attacked Mind again. Mind locked more like stars also but not as much as heart did and he the room was stars sparkly to. Mimnds black ears locked mor elike wolf instead of cat they always is cat it was weirdand they looked like pain because of his many silver piersings and really cool detail earring but they were difrnt! What.! ?

He met Minds bright eyes t. Eyes of hatred and judgement.  Mind hatd Heart and Heart hat Mind and for ones som 1 was on he side becais the stars hatd Mind too. Heartb could tell because they were angy. Even tho they were angryg at both of theit fighting.

All heart feeled was violents. Towards himself but he didm’t want to hurt Whole that way so it was diretld at Mind insted always. But he was still hurting them evn if he lied to himself but he was too angry 2 think becuz Mind wouldn’t listen to him either so why should Heart give him the grace?!? 

 Tge angry stars formed a gun in Herbts hand! He locked down at it and barely saw the sparkl urple starduts metal before he aimd it and pull the trigger!
