PoliZ's WIP Update - 27 Jan 2025

Things are getting stressful at work, so very few spoons for any writing, plus the Muse has gone wandering.   I touched 2 fics (1 new and 1 WIPs) for a total of 609  words. Sigh.

I’m juggling 12-ish  active/semi-active WIPs with my current  deadlines being  the Bucky Barnes and Tony Stark bingos.  

See  below cut for what I’m working on/planning to work on - arranged more or less by bingos/challenges/etc.  As always, feel free to send me   prompts or plot bunnies as well as asks regarding  any of these projects  or any other WIPs I’ve got out there.   Interaction really helps feed the Muse and keep me motivated!

WinterIron Gets It Done Bingo [WIGID] 

This new WinterIron Discord server event runs on a monthly basis as a flash bingo with a content creation card and an engagement card - got a Blackout for October & November but missed out on December.   Thankfully, January is an Amnesty/Catching Up month, so I finished my last December creation fill and am working on the engagement fills.  Will be making a masterpost here shortly.  

Marvelous Yahtzee [MY_24] (Ends 31 Dec)

Another writing challenge that I kind of forgot I signed up for!  This one is a bit complicated - check out the Tumblr blog for more info.  Ended up with seven fills posted of the 12 combos on the card – stay tuned for my masterpost.  I do have ideas for a couple more and may end up writing them at some point.  

* Full House: Family, Adventure, Road Trip, Mix-Up, Surprise – Tony, Pepper and Harley, Peter and Morgan  rent what turns out to be a duplex vacation home -  Steve, Bucky and Sam have the other half. 

* Large Straight: One Night Stand, Condoms, Kink Discovery, Middle of Night, Sub space – Bucky and Tony hookup - Tony tells Bucky not to bother with condoms,  he insists and Tony gets all subby;  Bucky discovers he likes domming,  and Tony goes into subspace.  

Bucky Barnes Bingo - Round Six [BBB - R6]  (Ends 31 Mar)

This amazing bingo event from the folks over at @buckybarnesbingo is still in progress.  I have twenty-four  fills  and six bingoes with one WIP at the moment, and a couple  more crossovers planned to hopefully get a blackout.  

* U3 - Yelena Belova  - Magica and I are circling back around to Peresmešnik, (aka Three Avengers and a Baby) - with the next chapter featuring Tony’s interactions with Mirriam, and a revelation about her parentage. I’ve written 313 of the 560 words in this chapter so far - it needs about 500 more words before we’ll be ready to post - maybe sometime  next  month?   

* Adoptable Nov - Canon: Animated Series - I picked this up intending to do something with the What If … Captain Carter were the First Avenger? episode from Season One,  but  Season 3’s  What If… The Red Guardian Stopped the Winter Soldier?  is the perfect fanfic fodder.  I plan on keeping my fic platonic between Alexie and the Soldier, but there will be some shenanigans -  I’ve got 366 words towards the fic after re-watching the episode, but am debating how far I want to take the story.  

Beginnings  Bingo  [BB_24]   (Ends 30 Apr 2025)

This new all-fandoms bingo event (courtesy of  @sweetspicybingo) celebrates beginnings  - signups run thru 20 Feb so join in the fun!  

* A2 - first impression - Combined this with the Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF289 Blinding Gaze] for  Close Encounters of the Blue-Eyed Kind - a Stony College AU meet cute/meet ugly with Tony literally running into Steve. It came in as a double drabble (200 words) and will get posted to Ao3 before the event ends. .   

Tony Stark Bingo - Mark VIII [TSB_R8]  (Ends 31 May)

This amazing bingo event from the folks over at @tonystarkbingo is still open for pre-made card signups, I believe. I have  twenty-five squares filled,  and one WIP  at the moment.

* S1 - Bodyguard - filled this with A Dark and Stormy Knight - a vaguely medieval AU WinterIron AU double drabble which crossed over with the Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF276 Dark and Stormy Night]. It came in at 200 words and will get posted on Ao3 at some point.  

* Oct Adoptable: Facial Hair Bros - Filled this with  New Kid in Town- a double drabble that crossed over with the Flash Fic Friday prompt  [#FFF287 I Can’t Stand It]. Tony is complaining to Pepper about that so-called wizard stealing his look - she thinks Tony doth protest too much.  It came in at 200 words and will get posted to Ao3 before this event ends. 

* A1 - Evil Exes -  back to poking at a couple of different ideas  - notes jotted down, but no actual story yet.  

* Jan Adoptable - Writing Format; First Person Narration  - Snatched this up during the TSB Discord server party  as it fits the fic I’ve been working on  better at this point.  Originally inspired by Ed Brubaker’s  Reckless graphic novel, this is a No Powers AU where Tony and  Bucky reunite after a tragic event tears them apart.  Running in the Shadows is drafted at 1014 words and after a bit of polishing, will post in Friday 

Post July Break Bingo 2024  [pJBB_24] (Ends 30 Jun 2025)

I requested two 2x3 cards for this  Discord-server only event from @julybreakbingo  – so if you want to join in the fun, let me know and I’ll try to get you an invite!  I have four  fics posted & 0 WIPs - need to figure out some more crossovers.

Fandom Free Bingo: Gingerbread Edition  [FFB]   (Ends Nov 30 2025)

The @fandom-free-bingo blog offers up themed cards on a monthly basis - I requested a 3x3 card (with 3 alternates) in December and have two fills already. 

* A3 - Road Trip - Used this prompt towards Chapter Five of  Half of the Flesh and Blood That Makes Me Whole - where Bucky returns from a self-assigned mission and gets to know Tony a little better.   It came in at 1560 words.    

Year of the OTP [YOTP_25]   (Ends Dec 31 2025)

Decided to jump in on this challenge where you create (at least) twelve works for a specific pairing by using the monthly prompts provided. 

* January - Sharing Clothes -  filling this with a new chapter of  Carrying Things Forward  - a followup to my omegaverse fic A Little Bit Carried Away where  Alpha!Bucky has moved in with omega!Tony and they’re figuring out their relationship.   It came in at 1342 words.  Chapter Three is in progress at 561 words.  

* January - Stockholm Syndrome -  used this prompt in combination with last week’s Flash Fiction Friday prompt  [#FFF288 Loud Lie, Quiet Truth]  for Redirected Aim .  The Soldier’s mission had been to retrieve the serum Howard Stark had reformulated, leaving no witnesses.  He chose a different target.  It’s a WinterIron fic that came in at 687 words and will get posted to Ao3 before the event ends. 

Warm and Fluffy   Bingo  [WFB]   (no end date)

* B2 - Sharing Clothes - see YOTP Sharing Clothes above.  

* G1 - Kiss on the Forehead - Filled this with A Damper on Dinner - a domestic Stony ficlet where a power outage threatens their romantic dinner.  It came in at 151 words and will get posted to Ao3 at some point.

WinterIron-to-Stuckony cyberpunk-ish AU with Tony living off the grid as The Mechanic, underground car modder and general genius. It's been done in installments instead of chapters for, idk, past-me Reasons, and there's another wee chapter from the pov of a certain pouty puppy:

it's my @marveltrumpshate 2022 fic, which the winner voted to have me continue for a full 40,000 words....so I have a long way to go, lol, but it's a start!

Tony walks into the cafeteria on his first day of school. He got sent to a new school where Howard felt he will do better at. Transferring was a bitch especially since this is the fifth school he has been sent to this year and it's only March. He has 2 years of school left before he can decide to go to MIT.

He has a new friend by his side named Bruce. Bruce tells him why everyone is sitting the way they are.

Over at the glass doors and windows is a huge table filled with the football jocks. Steve Rogers is Captain and star quarter back. A real player as well as a handsome gentleman.

Near the entrance where Tony and Bruce are standing lies the basket ball players. Thor Odinson is god compared to all the basketball players in America. He is another playboy and Bruce is currently crushing on him.

The tables in the middle are the cheerleaders. Captain is Natasha and co is Wanda. They are a triple threat when you add their best friend Peggy to the mix. Natasha is currently dating an Archer from an all boys school down the road. Peggy is Steves on and off girlfriend. Wanda doesn't believe in love and sex. Prefers looking after her baby brother and working at the pet shop her family owns.

Near where all the food is is where Bruce takes Tony. That's where all the smart people are. Or if you are everyone else, where all the nerds and geeks are. As they sit down Tony spots a gorgeous man with a metal arm sitting In a far corner on his own.

"hey who's that?"

"oh that's our lone wolf. Steve's ex best friend and ex boyfriend. Steve chose his sports career, friends and Peggy over Bucky and now he wants nothing to do with Hi-hey where are you going?"

"what? He looks lonely"

"Tony no! You are gonna disturb the school peace"

"fuck the peace. I'm here, this schools boring time to shake things up"

Tony ignores Bruce and skips over to where the lonely man is.

"hey RoboCop! Names Tony"

The guy looks up with a raised brow

"and I thought your friend would have told you not to come sit by me"

"fuck that shit. It sounds lonely and boring"

The man leans back on his chair and crosses his arms.

"the names James but you can call me Bucky"

"oooh I guess I can scream out Bucky later on. James is my best friend from an old school so that would be weird"

Bucky snorts as he relaxes and sits up to resume his eating.

"so what can I do for you Tony?"

"well I was wondering if I could get your number and you let me build you a way better arm"

"Justin ha-"

"oh god I'm gonna vomit. Hammer is an idiot. Stark industries would make a better one"

"oh Tony Stark. I thought you looked familiar. What's a tech genius doing coming to a school like this"

The two get into a lengthy conversation about any and everything as they ignore everyone staring at them. They don't realize it's class time until the chef comes around to tell them as he gives them each a container of food and says they are 10 minutes late. They thank the chef and leave.

"giz a look at your classes?"

Tony hands over a piece of paper he was handed and raises a brow as Bucky smirks.

"your in my maths and music class"

"so you take them too?"

"maths is compulsory and I love playing the piano"

"oh that's cool. I love the piano as well. I also love singing too."

"oh you joined dance as well?"

"yeah my mind taught me ballet and tap dance. I have an instructor that comes every Saturday and she thought it would be cool for me to do it at school. Aside from that she also teaches me different forms of martial arts"

"wow boy genius loves learning doesn't he?"

"it keeps me busy and on my toes. I don't like being locked inside my head with nothing to do"

Bucky notices his mood change and tells him to skip the remaining classes. Tony agrees because he doesn't like them. PE and Art History was only chosen because Howard picked them for punishment. They sit on top of the hill at the end of the school field across from the gym.

Bucky starts opening up about the deeper darker side of his life. From his mum passing away, to his sister in a psych ward, his brother in the army and his abusive dad. He talks about how he dad got so drunk one night that the man got half way through cutting Bucky's arm until the cops showed up. His arm wasn't salvageable. Then he goes into detail about how he became the lone wolf and has a new hatred for Steve.

Tony immediately falls for Bucky's honesty and how he trusts Tony even though they only met. He goes into depth about how his dad was this abusive man behind the scenes but knew how to play the crowd. Talked about how shit came tumbling down one night. His father got drunk at a gala and dragged his baby brother and mum home leaving him behind. Someone was kind enough to drop him off where his Butler Jarvis told him that his family was involved in a car crash. His brother was the only one who passed. As soon as the parents were allowed back home Howard had told his team to make sure word doesn't get out of what happened. He got real aggressive since then. His mum got beatings trying to protect Tony and whenever she wasn't at home Howard would lock Tony away in a room that had nothing in it. Tony went crazy at some points. The longest he went in that room without food, water, a shower, fresh clothes and blankets was a week. His mum came back and Tony was in hospital for 2 weeks.

"how is he not in jail?"

"because the asshole doesn't want to ruin his reputation or bring Stark Industries down."

Bucky stands up and holds out his hand. Tony takes it and gets pulled up and into a hug.

"I'll do whatever I can to protect you doll"

"we are practically kids Bucky. What are we gonna do? Run away"

"we could but that would damage your dad's rep. How about we stick close to each other, I'll allow that kid you were talking to but no one else unless I deem okay. Once we finish the last 2 years we move out amd into a house of our own"

"Bucky we just met. You are crazy"

"yet I have this urge to protect you and do whatever it takes to make you happy"

"you are so bad for me"

"at least your life would be less boring"

Tony laughs at that and yelps as he gets pulled into a kiss. Bucky laughs at how red Tony has gotten an drags him down the hill.

"I know this great burger joint with amazing ice cream"

"is this a date Mr?"

"Barnes. Bucky Barnes"

They laugh amd joke around as they make it to Bucky's motorbike and head out of the school not realizing some ome had been watching them all along

It just isn’t fair, Tony laments to himself even as he throws his head back and pants. It isn’t fair that Bucky can turn him into this trembling, gasping mess in a matter of mere seconds and then step away and look perfectly presentable in the next instant when Tony still feels utterly undone. It isn’t fair that Bucky is the very picture of propriety when they’re in public and then whisper such filth into Tony’s ear the moment he steals him away into a darkened corner, honeyed words about how he can’t wait for their marriage, how he’ll spread Tony out beneath him, and teach him the meaning of bliss such as he’s never known before.

It isn’t fair.

Tony doesn’t picture himself as much of an innocent, not after the abuse he witnessed and endured in Howard’s home, but Bucky has him acting like a blushing virgin who hasn’t yet experienced his first kiss. It’s ridiculous. So maybe Bucky was Tony’s first kiss. Maybe he will be the first person Tony takes to his bed but he still doesn’t need to act like it. He’s supposed to be calm, collected, worldly—

“I love the way you turn such a pretty shade of red,” Bucky croons, stroking his cheek with the back of his hand and Tony just…melts. He turns his face into Bucky’s palm, kissing the center of it and smiling a little when Bucky groans. “Like the sunrise over the city. Makes me wonder…”

He trails off as he slides his hand from Tony’s cheek to the curve of his neck and down to the neckline of his shirt. One stroke, then another, and Tony feels like he shouldn’t be this undone by a simple touch but he is.

“Will you blush so prettily when I have you beneath me?” Bucky muses. “Will it travel down your lovely body when I take you? What about your—”

“Bucky,” Tony gasps. ”Someone could hear.”

“And who could hear us all the way out here, darling?” Bucky looks around the abandoned garden. The crickets are singing their nightly tune and in the distance, Tony can hear the sounds of the party but other than that, they are alone.

“Why can’t you wait?” Tony asks him. “Why must you taunt and torment me when you know I’ll be yours in a few short months?”

“Because you are beautiful,” Bucky says bluntly. “And the months may seem short to you but they are an eternity to me.”

Tony stares at him for a long time, touched by Bucky’s honest declaration that Tony means too much to him to care about what propriety dictates. He lifts a shaking hand and gently cups Bucky’s cheek, a mimic of what Bucky had just done to him.

“They aren’t short to me,” he says hoarsely. “The months. They stretch on without end and I want to be yours now just as I want you to be mine. I don’t want to wait. Bucky, I would run away with you now if I could, if it would not drive my family to ruin, and I want you to know that.”

“You and your honor,” Bucky says, smiling fondly. “Howard owes you nothing but an apology and yet you still won’t leave them behind for the sake of their representation.” He leans down, pressing Tony into the hedges, and kisses him gently, sweetly. “It’s one of the many reasons I’m so enamored with you.”

“I would leave him,” Tony says scornfully. He looks back up at the house, his father’s house and one day, Tony’s. Someone is standing on the balcony and somehow, Tony just instinctually knows that it’s Maria. “But—”

Bucky’s gaze follows his and he makes a soft noise of understanding. “But your mother.”

“She doesn’t deserve to be shunned because I was too desperate to wait a few more months, no matter how long they might seem.”

Bucky kisses him again, harder this time though not as hard as Tony knows it could be. “You’re too good for me,” he murmurs into his mouth.

“Amore mio,” Tony whispers. “You would wait for me to appease my family. If anything, I’m not good enough.”

From the balcony, he hears his mother call his name. Bucky grunts, frustrated, and then he catches hold of Tony’s hand and drags him deeper into the garden, further into the maze Howard had had built back when it was all the rage. Tony doesn’t think that Howard has ever set a single foot inside the garden, much less the maze, and it has been his sanctuary since he was a child, running from his father’s hatred. Sometimes, his mother tries to follow him into the gardens but she never goes very far, claiming that the gardens are too haunted for her. There are no ghosts in the garden, only the memories of a scared child. They stop when they can no longer hear Maria calling, far enough in that he doubts she’ll follow him but perhaps not. It is their engagement party after all.

Bucky pushes against the hedge and kisses him again, desperate now and needy. “You are good,” he mutters, “and if you don’t see it, then it will be my duty to tell you each and every day until you can tell yourself.”

“That may be forever,” Tony tells him, thinking of the thousands of lives destroyed by Howard’s weapons—weapons that Tony helped create.

“Then I will tell you forever,” Bucky whispers, his hungry kisses moving down to his neck. “And it will be my burden to bear. Now hush, your throat is begging for my mouth.”

“Funny,” Tony says, feeling the heat rising in him again. “I didn’t hear it say a word.”

“Oh but it did. It’s pleading with me for me to bruise it.”

Tony’s hands are clutching at Bucky’s back. When did that happen? He could have sworn that they’d been at his side a moment ago. “Sounds violent,” he gasps.

“Only a littler death, darling.”

Maybe so but as Bucky slides his thigh between Tony’s legs, letting him rock against him as he pants, he thinks it may still be just as explosive. Pleasure is coiling in his stomach, spurred on by Bucky’s words about how beautiful he is in this moment, how much he wishes he could spread him out on the grass, how—

“Anthony!” he hears his mother call.

He groans and Bucky drops his head to Tony’s shoulder, muttering a low curse. “Don’t say things like that about my mother,” he says, swatting Bucky’s arm.

Bucky raises his head, looking at him with dark eyes. “You look absolutely debauched, darling.” He presses forward again, pushing his thigh against the hard line of Tony’s cock. “Perhaps we should skip the party, go deeper into the maze. Let me lay you out, get my mouth on your beautiful—”

He steps back suddenly, leaving Tony swaying just as his mother turns the corner. “What were you two doing?” she asks suspiciously, eyes narrowing. It isn’t fair, Tony laments again, that Bucky can look so unaffected when Tony feels as debauched as Bucky had said.

“Nothing,” Bucky says innocently. “Tony wanted to show me the gardens where he spent so much time.”

She purses her lips, eyeing them, but when neither one cracks, she nods briskly. “Very well. Come back inside. Your guests are wondering where you are.”

As they’re led out of the gardens, Tony leans over and whispers, “You will be the death of me.”

Bucky smiles crookedly. “Only a little one, darling.”

Bucky blinks, letting his gaze sweep over Tony in a long, calculated move. 

“You’re wearing my shirt.”

“Oh?” Tony pulls at the collar, and then looks back up at Bucky, cocking his head and batting his eyelashes, “I hadn’t noticed.”

He hadn’t noticed? Bucky reaches out and grabs at his hips, fingers fitting around familiar ridges and tugging Tony in so that he’s in between Bucky’s spread thighs, close enough that Bucky can count every individual lash.

“Is that right?” he murmers, “you hadn’t noticed?”

Tony blushes, tongue flitting out to wetten his lips, and Bucky tracks the movement, lifting his hand from Tony’s hips to trace his thumb along the same path once Tony’s done.

Tony relaxes his jaw, and sucks his thumb in, even though Bucky hasn’t changed out of his gear, even though his fingers are still encased in rough leather.

“I missed you,” Tony lets go of his thumb with a wet pop, and Bucky brings the arm on his hip around his waist, close enough that his dick bumps against Tony’s stomach, “didn’t like not having you around.”

Bucky leans in, nosing at the underside of his jaw until Tony leans his head back and bares his neck, so that Bucky can fit his teeth around the vein that’s jutting out.

“So you decided to wear my shirt?” he asks, in between kitten kisses that he’s peppering on Tony’s neck. Against him, Tony’s hips are rolling of their own accord, small stuttered movements as he chases friction.

“You -” he gasps when Bucky bites down on the juncture between his neck and his shoulder, “you took your dog tags with you.”

At that, Bucky leans back, unable to contain his smile when he sees how flushed Tony is; his normally brown eyes blown black.

He lets go of Tony for the couple of seconds it takes to fish his tags over and off his neck; and place them over Tony’s head so that they settle on his chest; before fitting an arm around his waist once more.

“So I did,” he lifts up the tags and presses the cold metal to Tony’s lips, coaxing them open silently so he can place them on Tony’s tongue. With a singular finger, he nudges at Tony’s chin so that he shuts his mouth; watching as Tony’s throat constricts when he sucks on the tags experimentally.

“Hold onto those for me,” he whispers, and then pulls up his shirt, the shirt that Tony is wearing, so that he can wrap his leather-encased fingers around Tony’s dick.

Blood tasted differently depending on the part of the body it came from. 

Bucky sat back and considered his next bite. He’d already left several marks around Tony’s neck, which was Bucky’s favorite spot. The blood was fresh from the heart, with rich flavor in every mouthful. 

Tony, ever impatient, squirmed. Usually he tied Tony down, but tonight he wanted to feel Tony writhe against him. 

“Yes, doll?” He ran his hands down Tony’s chest. Bucky had left small bites there too, more for the sharp gasps Tony let escape than any actual blood draw. 

“Are you going to do anything anytime soon, or should I take a quick nap?” 

“Are you getting tired?” Bucky drawled, letting his nails scratch Tony’s skin. “Or am I simply boring you?”

Tony squirmed again, reluctant to answer. He knew he was being bad, loved teasing punishments out of Bucky. After all, it wasn’t like Bucky wanted to truly punish the sass, not when there were so much more fun punishments to be given. 

Bucky raked his nails down until he was at the juncture of Tony’s hips. 

“Yeah, more down there sounds good,” Tony breathed, his eyes fluttering shut. 

Bucky grinned. Tony’s cock was full of blood, which had its own unique flavor. That required a very careful bite though, and Bucky wasn’t ready for it to be over. 

Still, he leaned down and scraped a fang against Tony’s shaft, holding Tony’s cock still so that Tony’s shiver didn’t ruin Bucky’s plans. 

With a flash of supernatural speed, Bucky turned and sank his fangs deep into Tony’s inner thigh. Here, the blood had lost some of that fresh flavor, but it had gained a sweetness that Bucky craved.

And, Bucky loved the spot for the way it made Tony toss his head back and moan.

 Bucky pulled back and licked his mark, catching the droplets and speeding the healing process. 

Tony was gasping, his hips thrusting up into the air as the endorphins rushed through him. 

Some humans didn’t respond well to biting. Bucky had no use for them, and he hated the vampires who preyed on them. Fear made the blood take on a sour tang, but arousal - it added a lovely layer of sweetness that Bucky savored. 

Tony’s blood especially was Bucky’s kind of sweet addiction. Tony loved being useful, being helpful, going so pliant and soft underneath Bucky with just a touch of sass from that luscious mouth. 

Bucky leaned up and kissed Tony, blood and fangs and all, and Tony opened up so beautifully for him. 

Tony loved the bites and loved the marks afterwards. He loved being Bucky’s, and Bucky loved the play as well as making sure Tony was well fed and watered to recover from blood loss in between sessions. Tony craved the attention, and Bucky had all of his to give. 

But that would be later, after Bucky finished wringing every drop of pleasure he could from Tony’s body and tasting the sweet results in Tony’s blood. 

“Patience, sweetheart,” Bucky said as he kissed his way across Tony’s cheek. “I’ve got plans for you.”

“Your plans should move along a little faster.” 

Tony gasped when Bucky sucked on the spot behind Tony’s ear that always made him do just that. 

“Hmm.” Bucky pretended to consider. “No.” 

He dropped his full weight onto Tony, and Tony groaned and bucked up under the pressure. Bucky knew Tony loved this, loved being held down as much as being tied up, but he chuckled as Tony started to get into a rhythm, thrusting up against Bucky and getting friction on that poor, hard cock. 

“You can do that all you like,” Bucky murmured in Tony’s ear. “But you still don’t get to come until I say so.”

Tony whined. 

Bucky nuzzled him. “And remember just how slow you think my plan is.”

He felt Tony try to stop, but it was just a momentary hesitance before Tony lost himself in the rhythm again. 

“You bad, bad boy,” Bucky said with a laugh. “I’m going to have fun with you tonight.”

A commission for @not-the-cavalry​, who wanted badass Bucky and competent Tony to save the day. Which they do repeatedly. And in their very own, special ways. Or, alternatively; 5 times Bucky is a total badass plus the one time Tony proves he’s still got it.

Tony lets his head fall back against the wall with a sigh, wondering once again why the universe hates him enough to do this to him on one of his rare days off. All he’d wanted was to spend one quiet, peaceful afternoon with Bucky, but no, apparently they can’t even get burgers without some wannabe-villain—Flag Smacker? Flag Smasher?—deciding to take everyone in their favourite diner hostage.

He’s been ranting about the abolition of country borders in order to achieve world peace—while threatening to blow up a diner full of innocent people—for nearly fifteen minutes now, and Tony really wishes he hadn’t decided to go completely Iron Man-free today.

“Fuck’s sake,” Bucky mutters from next to Tony, rubbing tiredly at his face when Tony turns to look at him. “Is this guy for real?”

Before Tony has the chance to answer, Bucky springs up to his feet and advances on the guy with a shouted, “Hey!”

The guy swivels to point his gun at Bucky, but hesitates when Bucky doesn’t stop. It’s his undoing; by the time he’s aimed, Bucky’s already on him, landing a punch to his face with a crunch that makes Tony wince.

Tony glances down at the guy, writhing and moaning on the floor, then around the diner at the gaping people and, finally, up at Bucky. “Well. That’s one way of doing it.”

Bucky nudges the guy’s gun away with the tip of his boot. “All I wanted was a damn cheeseburger.”

“Iron Man, come in!” Steve yells over the comms, Doombots screeching in the background. “The Winter Soldier is injured, we need an extraction.”

Tony’s heart skips a beat and he speeds up, nearly clipping the edge of a building in his hurry. To his relief, Bucky is actually still standing when he finally spots him and Steve, though he’s panting and his prosthetic arm is hanging limply at his side.

Tony winces. “Shit.”

But then, before he’s even landed, Bucky charges at a Doombot, jumps up high, twists while still in the air and smacks the deadweight of his arm into the Doombot’s middle, sending it flying and crashing into the nearest car.

Tony raises an eyebrow at Steve.

Steve just sighs and shakes his head.

“You stabbed me!” the Hydra agent screeches at Bucky, before turning his incredulous gaze on Tony. “He stabbed me!”

It doesn’t happen often, but sometimes, even Tony is lost for words. After a moment, he manages to offer, “Well, you did wave a gun in his face.”

The Hydra agent almost looks like he’s pouting. “Cap’s never stabbed me before!”

“Do I look like fuckin’ Captain America to you?” Bucky growls as he stalks closer, twirling another knife between his fingers.

With a squeak, the Hydra agent moves to stand behind Tony.

Bucky smirks.

The Hydra base goes up in flames as Bucky’s walking away from it, not a scratch on him or a hair out of place.

Clint nods to himself. “Cool guys don’t look at explosions.”

Sam pretends he’s not laughing. Nat does grin, completely unashamed.

“Bucky, what the hell—” Steve starts, only to be interrupted by a chorus of, “Language, Cap!”

It’s almost embarrassing to admit that Hammer’s caught him off-guard, but, well. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. And, as loath as he is to admit it, Hammer isn’t a complete idiot and did strip Tony of everything he might be able to use as a weapon.

Which means Tony’s sitting in his cell in nothing but his underwear, shivering against the cold concrete, handcuffed and chained to the wall.

“What a pretty picture you make,” Hammer coos as he comes to crouch in front of Tony, grinning wildly and gun held loosely in one hand. “Now, you know the spiel by now, don’t you? We can do this the easy way or the hard way, blah blah blah. So! What’s it going to be, Tony?”

Upstairs in the warehouse, someone yells angrily and the sound of gunfire starts up.

Tony quirks an eyebrow up at Hammer.

“Nothing my men can’t handle,” Hammer dismisses, going for confident, but his hand twitches nervously and he absently licks his bottom lip. “Now, Tony. The blueprints. Do you have any idea—well, it’s you, so of course you do.”

He straightens up, pacing in front of Tony, free hand on his hip. “And since you’ve decided you’re too high and mighty to build things that actually matter, that make a true difference, I thought I’d be so nice and take those plans off your hands.”

Somewhere above them, something blows up.

“The blueprints, Tony!” Hammer hisses, a little wild-eyed now. When Tony stays silent, he moves closer again, curling a hand around Tony’s throat. “What, nothing to say? Don’t get tongue-tied now. No need for modesty between old friends.”

The cell door comes flying inwards, making Hammer jump and whirl around, gun raised.

Bucky allows himself a moment to take in the scene in front of him, then points his own gun at Hammer’s knee, teeth bared in a snarl. Unlike Hammer, he has no qualms about pulling the trigger.

Hammer flinches, but recovers quickly when nothing happens. “Oh! Oh, this is just perfect!” he laughs giddily. “Did you lose count?”

Still cackling, Hammer continues to tease, but Tony isn’t listening, too busy trying not to laugh at the look Bucky is shooting him that very clearly asks, “Is he fuckin’ serious right now?”

Tony just shrugs and then does laugh, loudly, when Bucky gives a shrug of his own and throws his empty gun right into Hammer’s smug face.

“Hi, honey, nice of you to show up,” he says, still grinning, as Bucky steps over Hammer’s unconscious form and comes to kneel at Tony’s side. “Took you long enough.”

Bucky snorts and rips open the cuffs. “Everyone’s a critic.”

Tony allows himself a day of being the worried boyfriend, sitting at Bucky’s bedside and holding his hand and watching his ashen face, before he pulls himself together and gets to work.

They’ve known the identity of the head of the smuggling ring for months, have intercepted countless shipments of alien technology, but actually pinning it on the guy in charge has proven incredibly tricky. There’s always been someone to take the fall for him, some evidence that vanished under mysterious circumstances, a witness who suddenly changed their mind about testifying.

It’s been infuriating and frustrating, yes, but now? With Bucky hurt and no one sure how long it will take him to recover? Now, it’s personal.

Getting an invitation to the party hosted by the politician’s son turned hustler is a piece of cake; he knows the government as well as the Avengers are after him, but he’s also convinced he’s untouchable and that has made him cocky.

Having Iron Man attend his little shindig? Tony knew he wouldn’t be able to refuse.

The scans and frisking before he’s allowed into the mansion are expected and he smiles good-naturedly through the whole process, cracking jokes and readily handing over his phone, wallet and watch to be confiscated. And once he’s inside, things couldn’t go any smoother.

He small-talks and networks, laughs and flirts, and happily accepts when Rami, the guy he’s after, asks him for a dance, letting him lead them out onto the floor. They chat idly the first few minutes, both extremely aware of who they’re with and what kind of game they’re playing, but eventually Rami breaks.

“Your friend, Sergeant Barnes,” he says, all feigned compassion, “I hope he’s well?”

Tony smiles with maybe a little too much teeth. “Expected to make a full recovery, but thank you. Your concern is appreciated.”

It’s when the song changes to something slower that Tony gets his chance. Their bare hands come together as they resettle into position and, with a quick, featherlight tap of his finger against Rami’s wrist, things are set in motion.

And Tony doesn’t have to wait long. Rami cuts himself off mid-sentence only a few seconds later, frowning and blinking rapidly. Tony puts on a mock-sympathetic face. “Feeling a little hot, are we?”

Rami, to his credit, catches on immediately, hissing out, “What did you do?”

“Nothing yet,” Tony says with an innocent smile, tightening his hold on Rami when he goes to pull back. “But, as we speak, nanotechnology is making itself at home in your body. Not an issue in general, quite the opposite,” he drawls and lets the brandnew Bleeding Edge armour curl around his fingers, watching in satisfaction as Rami’s eyes go wide. “But should it, let’s say, cause a blockage in a major artery? Or rapidly expand somewhere it isn’t supposed to? That could, indeed, cause some trouble.”

“What do you want?” Rami demands, through gritted teeth, and Tony beams as he chirps, “Look me in the eyes.”

Rami’s confusion melts away as soon as Tony activates the Iron Man HUD lenses, morphing into absolute outrage. He’s smart enough to stay quiet, though.

“A confession, if you’d be so kind,” Tony says as he begins recording. “Not that it will be necessary, the nanobots will be deep in your phone and private servers by now, but showing some measure of regret always looks good in front of a jury.”

With everything activated, the Avengers as well as SHIELD and the FBI will already have been alerted and be on their way, a live feed of what Tony sees and every bit of information the ‘bots dig up getting sent to all their electronic devices. Whether Rami confesses or not is irrelevant, though Tony certainly enjoys watching him fume and squirm.

But then, after a few moments, Rami starts talking.

And if Tony snags a bottle from behind the bar as he leaves? Well, he’s pretty sure no one’s going to say anything, given the circumstances. And Bucky does like his whiskey.

I AM DROWNGING IN VAMPIRE BUCKY FEELS!!! I read PrinceofBadassery’s fic “Blood Deal” and almost burst into flame at the idea of Bucky kneeling between Tony’s legs and drinking blood from his femoral artery!!!! This art isn’t exactly illustration to the fic, but I REALLY wanted to draw a loving scene of Bucky feeding off Tony. Bucky being all careful and soft with Tony!! Tony trying to take care of Bucky! If anyone else has Vampire Bucky feels now, please come and talk to me :D

Keeping up with my goal of 1500 words/week -   I touched 2 fics (1 new and 1 WIPs) for a total of 1634  words, mostly on one fic.

WinterIron Gets It Done Bingo [WIGID] 

This new WinterIron Discord server event runs on a monthly basis as a flash bingo with a content creation card and an engagement card - got a Blackout for October & November but missed out on December.   Thankfully, January is an Amnesty/Catching Up month, so I finished my last December creation fill and am working on the engagement fills.

Another writing challenge that I really enjoyed! Ended up with seven fills posted of the 12 combos on the card – stay tuned for my masterpost.  I do have ideas for a couple more and may end up writing them at some point.  

* Full House: Family, Adventure, Road Trip, Mix-Up, Surprise – Tony, Pepper and Harley, Peter and Morgan  rent what turns out to be a duplex vacation home -  Steve, Bucky and Sam have the other half. 

* Large Straight: One Night Stand, Condoms, Kink Discovery, Middle of Night, Sub space – Bucky and Tony hookup - Tony tells Bucky not to bother with condoms,  he insists and Tony gets all subby;  Bucky discovers he likes domming,  and Tony goes into subspace.

Bucky Barnes Bingo - Round Six [BBB - R6]  (Ends 31 Mar)

This amazing bingo event from the folks over at @buckybarnesbingo is still in progress.  I have twenty-four  fills  and six bingoes with one WIP at the moment, and a couple  more crossovers planned to hopefully get a blackout.  

* U3 - Yelena Belova  - Magica and I are circling back around to Peresmešnik, (aka Three Avengers and a Baby) - with the next chapter featuring Tony’s interactions with Mirriam, and a revelation about her parentage. I’ve written 313 of the 560 words in this chapter so far - it needs about 500 more words before we’ll be ready to post - maybe sometime  next  month?   

* Adoptable Nov - Canon: Animated Series - I picked this up intending to do something with the What If … Captain Carter were the First Avenger? episode from Season One,  but  Season 3’s  What If… The Red Guardian Stopped the Winter Soldier?  is the perfect fanfic fodder.  I plan on keeping my fic platonic between Alexie and the Soldier, but there will be some shenanigans -  I’ve got 125 words towards the fic, but need to rewatch the episode before I can go much further.  

Tony Stark Bingo - Mark VIII [TSB_R8]  (Ends 31 May)

This amazing bingo event from the folks over at @tonystarkbingo is also still open for pre-made card signups, I believe. I have  twenty-four squares filled, five bingos with no  WIPs  at the moment, but more crossovers planned.

* S1 - Bodyguard - filled this with A Dark and Stormy Knight - a vaguely medieval AU WinterIron AU double drabble which crossed over with the Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF276 Dark and Stormy Night]. It came in at 200 words and will get posted on Ao3 at some point.  

* T4 - Hindsight - filled this with  To New Beginnings - Tony Stark Bingo MkVIII December 2024 Round Robin, which is a No Powers AU where Tony’s moonlighting at a piano bar and meets a handsome stranger with some unexpected song requests.   My part came in at 426 words.

* Oct Adoptable: Facial Hair Bros - Filled this with  New Kid in Town- a double drabble that crossed over with the Flash Fic Friday prompt  [#FFF287 I Can’t Stand It]. Tony is complaining to Pepper about that so-called wizard stealing his look - she thinks Tony doth protest too much.  It came in at 200 words and will get posted to Ao3 before this event ends. 

Post July Break Bingo 2024  [pJBB_24] (Ends 30 Jun 2025)

I requested two 2x3 cards for this  Discord-server only event from @julybreakbingo  – so if you want to join in the fun, let me know and I’ll try to get you an invite!  I have four  fics posted & 0 WIPs - need to figure out some more crossovers.

Fandom Free Bingo: Gingerbread Edition  [FFB]   (Ends Nov 30 2025)

The @fandom-free-bingo blog offers up themed cards on a monthly basis - I requested a 3x3 card (with 3 alternates) in December and have two fills already. 

* A1 - Coffee Shop AU - see WIGID  Dec4 - Hot Beverages above.

* A3 - Road Trip - Used this prompt towards Chapter Five of  Half of the Flesh and Blood That Makes Me Whole - where Bucky returns from a self-assigned mission and gets to know Tony a little better.   It came in at 1560 words.

Decided to jump in on this challenge where you create twelve works for a specific pairing by using the monthly prompts provided. 

* January - Sharing Clothes -  filling this with a new chapter of  Carrying Things Forward  - a followup to my omegaverse fic A Little Bit Carried Away where  Alpha!Bucky has moved in with omega!Tony and they’re figuring out their relationship.   It came in at 1342 words.  Chapter Three is in progress at 561 words.

* G1 - Kiss on the Forehead - Filled this with A Damper on Dinner - a domestic Stony ficlet where a power outage threatens their romantic dinner.  It came in at 151 words and will get posted to Ao3 at some point.

On  other creative fronts:  I’m working on a Major Bedhead figure for a custom commission.  I have two more  Marvel Trumps Hate 2024 auction fills to go: Sheriff Rogers to work on, along with one undecided design.
