Summary: On New Year's Eve Bucky makes his way out to the west coast after a personal mission leaves him worse for wear leading him right to Tony's doorstep where the two catch up with one another and face the possibilities of what the new year could bring to their lives now that they're together again.

It's been so long seen I wrote anything holy shit. I started my master's degree at the beginning of September, and as much as I love it, I have been writing the driest nonsense you could possibly imagine. I want to write something fun again, and I thought, what better time to do that than our blessed be Kinktober! If anyone has any prompts or ideas, shoot them my way!

A sketch for the Winteriron Server Flash Bingo! For the prompt "Cooking together". Medieval/Fantasy AU: Prince Tony (in disguise) has been on the run for a while but now, the Ten Rings recognized and found him. He only escaped with Bucky's help, and still got his chest injured. Now, Bucky is travelling with Tony (who he assumes to be maybe a little smarter/more high born than he lets on, but definitely does NOT assume him to be the missing prince!!). Tony has a rough idea where to go: back to his kingdom where the power structure has been changing... To get there means travelling together, as Bucky agrees to go with him, and over their time together, they get closer and closer. And they have to navigate both the everyday troubles (how much food they have left, finding shelter, long days of walking) as well as the more troubling things (Tony's wounds, occasional bandit attacks?).

i think it’s hilarious that i began shipping winteriron/tonybucky just because i love both their characters and at the time didn’t even think about how they would actually interact in canon. and then, when i did acknowledge that, my love for them became even WORSE. the tragic loves, the type where it’s built off deeper circumstances that go beyond just you and me, and finding love in the middle. the “i found love when i wasn’t looking” or “love wrapped around my throat and pulled me to you with no remorse” kinda thing. not exactly enemies to lovers but something harder.
