William Hanna y Joseph Barbera, dos influyentes productores y animadores estadounidenses, son los creadores de la icónica serie animada "Los Picapiedra". William Hanna nació el 14 de julio de 1910 en Melrose, Nuevo México, mientras que Joseph Barbera nació el 24 de marzo de 1911 en Little Italy, Nueva York.
Ambos comenzaron sus carreras en la industria de la animación durante la década de 1930 y se unieron en la Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, donde crearon la exitosa serie de cortos animados "Tom y Jerry". Después de dejar MGM, fundaron su propio estudio, Hanna-Barbera Productions, en 1957.
"Los Picapiedra" se estrenó en 1960 y rápidamente se convirtió en un éxito. La serie, ambientada en la Edad de Piedra, seguía las aventuras de la familia Picapiedra y sus vecinos, los Mármol. Con personajes memorables como Pedro Picapiedra, Vilma, Pablo Mármol y Betty, la serie se destacó por su humor y su reflejo de la vida suburbana de mediados del siglo XX.
"Los Picapiedra" fue la primera serie animada en horario estelar de la televisión estadounidense y abrió el camino para muchas otras series animadas que le siguieron. Hanna y Barbera continuaron produciendo numerosos programas de animación exitosos, convirtiéndose en leyendas de la industria. 🦕🏠
