I'm thinking abt that pretty fall leaves embroidery pattern post and about how like... it is categorically a repost, it's a reupload. right? a thing that is generally disliked. but because it's credited, it's genuinely boosting the artist in question. and it could ALWAYS be like this. reposting content could ALWAYS be a symbiotic relationship, but because sourcing back to the original creator of something is so uncommon, it's just easier to ask people not to repost it at all. and people still don't understand the difference. or they'll go to the effort of cropping out usernames/signatures to repost something, which is More Effort than literally crediting the creator of something you liked enough to want to repost. [translation] "Pear Blossom" by Yoshiya Nobuko

Although the fiction of "Japan's first lesbian author" Yoshiya Nobuko was (and remains) hugely popular, of her entire body of work only one short story has ever been published in English translation, and no (other) fan translations appear to exist --- despite the enormous influence of her work on the predominant aesthetics and themes of shoujo manga. The beautiful flowery style and melodrama so famously attached to shoujo manga are thanks in large part to Yoshiya, and I'm very happy to be able to share one of her stories with you now!

"Pear Blossom" is a sparse and vivid short story from Yoshiya's early collection Hanamonogatari ("Flower tales"), a book noted for its use of beautiful imagery and its emphasis on the importance of romantic relationships between girls.

(nota bene, "Pear Blossom" is in the style of romantic, 'narcissistic' girlhood tragedy for which Yoshiya is most famous; approach accordingly. I've also included a page of notes on Yoshiya and her early lesbian fiction.)

when lg was younger, especially during high school, he struggled with talking and expressing himself. he’d be stuck in his head, sitting in the corner and staying silent. at some point he befriended cxs - a complete opposite. talkative, loud, friendly (when feeling safe bc we have to remember this boi has got ✨trauma✨). they started to understand each other so well, that whenever lg was to say something publicly and couldn’t manage, he’d say something like „cheng xiaoshi, help me say this” and cxs would bc of course he knows what lg wants to say but can’t.

speaking of

we officially passed 70 asks sitting in my inbox this weekend (which has been filling faster recently like woah!!), so while I adore all of you, I am but a single person with too many ideas, and to keep this fun for me too I prioritize my own ideas. Some of you are definitely already aware of this since I still have asks from all the way to FEBRUARY in there, but I simply cannot keep up.

Thank you all so much for wanting to play with me in this space I am always so excited to read your asks and ideas, but I need to officially say I cannot answer all of them with art like I usually try to do. I'm still not sure if it's better to do single answers, group answers, or leave most of the asks in the void, since they won't all get the answer they hope for. Probably a mix of all of these. Do you have opinions?

So while I figure this out (many of these I DO want to answer properly, some even have very similar ideas to what I'm already planning!), thank you so much for sticking with me and for having been so patient!
